The Roaring 20s In The 1920s
The 1920s were prosperous times for Canada and many other countries around the world. Canadian
economy, thanks to its vast storage of natural resources, was striving to the extent that the 1920s
was nicknamed The Roaring 20s . The 1920s era not only provided Canada with an amazing trade
relationship, but also led to the development of different movements inventions that shook the
world and shaped the way we live today. These impacting events include artwork, social change,
women s rights, prohibition, the Model T car, the radio, silent film, medical advances and the
telephone. Though all these phenomena worked together to make the 20s roar , but in particular
women s rights, medical advances and the telephone made the most prominent impact on the past
and present society.
God had created males and females to be equal, but this principle did not play out well back in
the 1900s. Though women were given some respect due to their contributions in World War 1,
they still were controlled by their dominant male counterparts. By 1917, most provinces in
Canada, with the exception of Quebec and the maritime provinces, officially allowed women to
vote and by 1919, women were even given the right to be part of the parliament. Though women
could vote and take part in the parliament, only a few of them were elected to office. Ultimately,
society still viewed women to be inferior to men. They served as helpers in the work force and
were rarely allowed to make decisions. They occupied

Gatsby Delusion
In the article, The Gatsby Delusion, Sarah Churchwell discusses the American Dream and it relates
to F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby. Churchwell says that the term, American Dream is used
to represent our failures in life rather than the successes. During the 1920 s, the nation s wealth was
not evenly spread because the richest owned forty percent of the nation s wealth while more than
half lived in poverty. James Truslow Adamswrote a novel about the American Dreamand stated that
the belief in the common man and the insistence upon his having, as far as possible, equal
opportunity in every way with the rich one. However, his ideas were misinterpreted. Churchwell
says that the American Dream is used as a nightmare and is causing lots of spending and
gambling. She uses Gatsby s parties as a way to relate the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Towards the beginning, she argues that the American dream represents our failures. I agree with
that point because the dream was something most people could not achieve and it was mainly a
struggle. The American Dream has become the nation s favourite way to discuss widespread
inequality and downward social mobility. This means that the wealthy people are able to succeed
and accomplish their dream because they have more money. In the Great Gatsby, Gatsby was not
able to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy due to the fact he was poor. Churchwell emphasizes
Fitzgerald s knowledge from the 1920 s and continues to relate it to today s society. She says that
Adams said that the dead dream will always fight on, as we try to touch the intangible, struggling
unhappily, undespairingly towards what we keep losing. Fighting for a dream that is most likely
not going to occur because of financial difficulties creates tension with those who can afford
anything they want. The more money one has, the easier it is to succeed because the best education

Research Paper On Yeast Infection
The superlative way to have a good health and to avoid being ill is to maintain a clean body.
Having a yeast infection symptoms means that your body is not hygienic. Ask anybody who
recurrently suffers from yeast infections what their candidiasis symptoms are, and you will perhaps
hear the same tale. Candida, yeast infections, or thrush are tremendously common ailments,
particularly amid females (although males do get them as well), and the symptoms can be anything
from somewhat irritating to truly agonizing. Everybody from babies to the elderly get candida, so it
actually isn t something that you should be self conscious about.
Frequently known to the medical industry as candidiasis, yeast infection or thrush is a very galling
fungal infection that both males and females suffer. It is a disease that can sprout in diverse
portions of the body, including the penis and vagina. This fungal infection can also breed on the
esophagus, navel, oral cavity, urinary bladder and pharynx. Yeast infection is usually linked to
females. Studies show that in ladies, seventy five percent has at least experienced it in a lifetime.
Fifty percent of which has underwent several yeast infections. Alternatively, a huge number of
males have also suffered from the same thing. Kids, usually from age three to nine, can be affected

feeling less invigorated and being exhausted often. Alternatively, when candidiasis is affecting your
genitals, feelings of ache and itchiness are obvious. There are also occurrences where ladies will

Nokia and Microsoft Partnership Analysis
Nokia and Microsoft Partnership Analysis
Introduction:
Microsoft is the most established software giant and Nokia is the company that is the icon for
electronic and communication equipments. Microsoft had a partnership with the computer
manufacturer IBM that made the software of Microsoft from DOS to modern Windows 8 famous
and most used. The same underlying principle of symbiosis has been used inn this alliance. There
are many reasons why Microsoft had to enter the cell phone industry. Arch Rival Apple came out
with the iPhone and revolutionized the mobile world. Though the gadget was not a direct
competitor, Microsoft was out of a huge potential market, namely the mobile segment.
More and more applications that were used in the PC and laptop began to be used with the mobile.
It was with the availability of internet with the mobile that made companies like Nokia look for
platforms to deliver the service including surfing and connecting to social media that prompted
developers to begin developing programs for this segment. It was also this development that made
Microsoft consider going into the mobile sector since the company had already established itself in
the tablet segment.
What were the forces leading to the partnership?
The fact that during the beginning of this century many developments occurred both with the
internet and with telephony must be considered. The major developments were the availability of
the internet on small machines like the mobile, PDA and

Customer Needs and Expectations
Here at Travel Weekly one of the representatives at Virgin Atlantic have honoured us by writing an
article about A day as a representative
Lets see what Kaye Goodwin from Virgin Atlantic has to say!
In a day of a representative at Virgin Atlantic I have to look at how these needs are identified and I
must cover: Customer requests in writing
Customer requests to representatives of organisations verbally (face to face or telephone)
Recognition of unstated needs
Customer type one: Families
If a family was too put in a request in writing, because they may have young children, they could
possibly write their requests to me in an email because of convenience and time.
For example: a mother and father of two young children will ... Show more content on

Here at Virgin Atlantic, we identify and meet customer needs through customer survey
questionnaires/ comment cards and customer forums/focus groups.
When the survey questionnaires or comment cards have been read by a member for our staff,
usually the customer service manager, they then analyse all of the comments to find areas of
improvement in order to meet customer needs.
For example, if a number of customers have complained about staff not knowing obvious
information i.e. directions around the airport, prices of products or check in times, that would tell
us that our staff are unequipped to help our customers.
From this, we will then need to realise and work our a way to get more information into our staff in
order to meet the needs of our customers more efficiently.
This can be done in many ways, however the most ideal one for this situation would be to hold
regular morning/afternoon meetings to keep staff updated with information.
When we exceed customer expectations, we like to go that extra mile by giving out customers
more in depth information. An example of this would be when a customer asks simply the time of
their flight, we like to make sure that our staff will fully inform our customers of their flight time,
boarding time, gate number and if there will be any delays.
At the Martime Museum (NMM) they meet and exceed

Blood Doping In Sports
Blood doping in sports has been a controversial topic for some time now. Debating on whether it
should be legal have been plaguing experts for years. Some see doping as a major advantage to
athletes. Others see it as just another source of training. Even with all the controversy you can not
help but agree with the majority of experts; blooddoping should stay illegal in sports. Blood
doping is the injection of oxygenated blood into an athlete before an event in an attempt to
enhance athletic performance. From most people s outlooks doping is natural. Blood doping is
technically the same as sleeping at high altitudes, or in oxygen tents. They all cause the proportion
of oxygen carrying red blood cells to rise. So if those are legal forms

Arian Controversy Analysis
In the 4th and 5th centuries, the early church was going through change. After a period of
persecution against Christians, the Edict of Milan established a policy for the toleration of
Christianity under Constantine. Constantine was the first Roman emperor to embrace Christianity
and he himself became a Christian. The Ecumenical Councils were encouraged by Constantine. The
gatherings included church leaders and others who met to affirm the teachings of the church and to
tackle heresy. The topic of controversy was over the relationship between the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit.
The Arian controversy caused Constantine to call for the Council of Nicaea, which was the first
of the Ecumenical Councils. Arias denied the deity of Jesus. He believed that Jesus was
subordinate to God the Father and that the Holy Spirit was subordinate to Jesus. Arias believed
that the Father was God, but Jesus and the Holy Spirit were not. Instead, he believed that Jesus
was a creature who had a beginning, while God was eternal and had no beginning. He did not
believe that Jesus was of the same substance [homoousios] of the Father. Athanasius stood up at the
Council of Nicaea and opposed the beliefs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. I find it
encouraging that leaders of the 4th and 5th century church helped define and defended the Trinity
doctrine from heresy. It is important that contemporary Christians learn about the Nicene Creed

The Failure and Rebirth of Burmese Nationalism Essay
All people in the world strive to find a sense of belonging. This sense is coupled with ethnic
identities, cultural customs, and social implications. The groups that inhabit the corner of the
world, now known as Myanmar, have had great struggles and upheavals through the last century.
They have been stricken with World War, independence struggles, as well as military dictatorship.
The Burmese groups have tried with diligence to establish their own states, but in the end all has
fallen upon them and their tale is one of grief and sadness. The failure of Burmese nationalist
movement is through the conflicting interests of the world, the clashes between Burmese ideology,
and the differences of ethnic acceptance. However badly the movement... Show more content on

They wanted freedom from British rule and when WWII started Aung San and 29 others, known
collectively as the Thirty Comrades left Burma to train in Japan, hoping for liberation ( Burma ).
Promises of liberation were made by Japan but after a few years, it was clear that Japan did not
wish for Burmese autonomy. Recognizing this fact, Aung San hurried quickly to negotiate a
deal with the British. He convinced the British to give them their national freedom if they were
to fight the Japanese on behalf of the British. The allied powers won and Britain started the
process of halting its operations in Burma. Aung San was hailed for his achievement of
independence from Britain though the future of Burma was not to be so lucky. Even though he
was seen as a controversial figure due to his communist politics, he was able to unite the
minority groups of Burma and secure the writing of a constitution, agreeing to officially end
British control. In July of 1947, a year before the official independence of Burma, Aung San and
most of his cabinet were sadly murdered by an enemy party (Badertscher). That day would be
forever marked in Burmese history and San s dreams were a glimpse at what could have happened
if political thought had been more similar and other resentments were able to be overlooked. Aung

The Importance Of Characters In Fifth Business
In the novel Fifth Business, characters mark new chapters of their lives by changing their names.
Names are used to identify people in society and they are a symbol of self. The characters, Dunstan,
Boy and Paul all change their names, Dunstable to Dunstan, Percy to Boy, and Paul to Magnus.
Despite the characters attempts to change their names and personalities, Davies reveals that people
will always maintain their true identities.
Throughout the novel, Dunstan plays the role of Fifth Business even when he embarks onto a new
chapter of his life. Dunstan s major role in this book is revealing to Paul that the cause for his
mother s insanity was because Boy threw a snowball with a stone in it that hit his mother. He
says, Dunstan Ramsay counselled against revelation, but Fifth Business would not hear. Yes,
guilt. Staunton and I robbed your mother of her sanity (Davies 263). In this quote, Dunstan
claims that he is Fifth Business because he provided information that led Paul to kill Boy. Paul
was always told his birth was the cause of his mother s insanity. Her madness is what made him
leave Deptford and caused him trouble during his childhood. Later on in the conversation Dunstan
says, Fifth Business insisted on being heard again. Would this jog your memory? I asked, handing
him my old paperweight. (Davies 264). Dunstan proves he is Fifth Business again by revealing the
stone that was placed inside of the snowball. This is very important because Paul now

Analysis of a Memorable Scene from Saving Private Ryan
MEMORABLE SCENE IN SAVING PRIVATE RYAN The epic 1998 war movie Saving Private
Ryan opens in the present day with an elderly World War II veteran accompanied by his family
visiting the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Colleville sur mer in Normandy,
France, site of the infamous D Day landings by the Allies in Nazi occupied France on June 4,
1944 that precipitated the end of Nazi occupation in Europe and the end of the war. As he
approaches the tomb stones he begins walking faster, separating from his family behind him and
he collapses in tears at the foot of one grave in particular, that of Captain John H. Miller. The
screen then dissolves and transitions to the horrendous scenes of human carnage on Omaha
Beach on Normandy on June 4, 1944 seen through the eyes of Captain Miller. The final scene of
the movie was especially memorable because of the way that it tied together the memories of the
elderly veteran with the heroism and human tragedy that took place on the same beaches and that
he witnessed and experienced personally inland. As the story unfolds, Miller is assigned the task
of leading a squad of U.S. soldiers through occupied territories far ahead of the Allied advance into
France with a specific mission directly from General George C. Marshall at the War Department in
Washington, DC. Marshall had learned that three brothers from a single family had recently been
killed in the war and that one remaining brother was unaccounted for in France. Pursuant

Analysis Of The Book A New Baby
On a brisk, fall day on Sunday October 25th, 1998 a new baby was born at 7:34 p.m. at Sioux
Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. That 20 inch, 7 pound, 9 ounce baby was Nicholas Jack Nagel.
There are two reasons for the name my parents gave me. My father Travis is a big golf fan and his
favorite golfer of all time is Jack Nicklaus; he is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time,
with 18 majors, the most ever by a professional golfer. My mother Marylou, on the other hand,
loves Christmas and liked the name Nicholas due to St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas is the patron saint
of children and sailors. The name Nicholas is a Greek name that means victorious people.
Shockingly, it took only a few hours of labor for my arrival. My mom was as calm as can be and
didn t realize that she was going into labor. While my mom was in labor, the rest of my family
watched the Denver Broncosdefeat the Jacksonville Jaguars. My parents joke with me that I ve
been a Broncos fan since I was even born, which is true. All of my grandparents, three aunts, and
three family friends were at the hospital to greet me. After I was delivered at approximately 7:34
p.m. my family passed around some It s a boy cigars. There were a lot of visitors that brought gifts
and outfits. My parents and I got to go home the night after I was born. Grandma and Grandpa
Nagel stayed for two days. My mom and dad were the first of their friends to have a baby and they
were very excited to welcome me to

Impairment In Iowana Essay
Currently, Iowa has some of the worst waters in the nation. The Clean Water Act requires states to
biannually test surface water to determine impairments. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources
defines impairment as A waterbody is impaired when its water quality does not fully support that
waterbody s designated uses for human contact, aquatic life, or drinking water. They note that an
impairment on one part of a stream or river does not necessarily mean that at other points of the
waterbody it is constituted as impaired. The meaning deals with what the waterbody is designated
for and whether it meets the standards set for that use. The amount of Iowa water bodies listed as
impaired is very high, but there are also many bodies that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The options we have available to alleviate this situation are few. One option, considered by many
is simply to do nothing. This is advanced by many who believe that since we can treat the water
we should not be placing any more burden upon our farmers. Most Republicans in the state
legislature believe this is the best idea, because it is better to have the Des Moines Water Works to
have to pay to fix the water than to place costly measure upon farmers and hurt out economy.
However, this option does not fix our increasingly polluted water, and does not help fix the
increasing Dead Zone.
DMWW already tried suing upstream farmers and counties to have their runoff under the Clean
Water Act however, the judge declared that the issue should be left to the state legislature. Those
listed in the lawsuit were farmers located in the counties of Buena Vista, Calhoun, and Sac, each
in Northern Iowa and feeding waters into the Raccoon River. Because this legal action was
thrown out, the judicial approach is an unlikely path for any future policy change in this instance.
Because of the judge s ruling that the legislature is the only way to change this, that means a bill
is how it will have to be fixed. The best option to alleviate farm runoff would be to impose similar
regulations to what the state of Minnesota has done. The

And by offering the right products at the right prices we will help our customers live a more
sustainable life at home. IKEA has an important role to play in terms of taking responsibility for
people and the environment. This is why sustainability is one of four cornerstones in the new
Group strategy Growing IKEA together . We have a strong foundation to build on it is in our
culture to twist and turn established truths to find a new angle, a new idea, and to have the
courage to try to do things differently. IKEA is obsessed with making more from less, and we
hate to waste resources of any kind. This will continue to be our compass in years to come, and
we will stimulate new thinking and innovation in our sustainability work. Innovation is needed to
build sustainable solutions into the IKEA range and to tackle some of the global challenges
society faces. We need to identify and use more resource efficient materials and develop better
solutions for reusing and recycling IKEA products once our customers no longer want them. I
believe IKEA together with our customers, co workers, suppliers and the rest of society can make
a big difference. The 50 million low energy bulbs purchased at IKEA in the past three years
represent energy savings equivalent to the output of four and a half nuclear plants, and substantial
reductions of carbon dioxide emissions. This gives just a hint of the potential that lies in the word

Facing The Giant Character Essay
My favorite character from Facing the Giants is David. He enrolled in a new school, having just
moved to the town with his father. He played soccer, but since the school did not have a soccer
team, he tried out for the football team as a second string kicker. He is conscious of his small
size and football skills, and is not confident that he will even kick the ball straight. This affects
him greatly when, at the state championship, David had to kick a fifty one yard field goal in two
seconds to win the game after the main kicker is injured. The farthest he had kicked was thirty
nine yard field goal, and he argued with Coach Taylor about his idea. The coach encourages him,
telling him to do his best. Larry, who had MS, stands up for his son, holding up his arms in the
shape of a goalpost. Everyone at the game doubted that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the movie, David didn t think he could do the possible and kept doubting
himself about everything he did. His father was the only person that encouraged him to try out
for the football team, and he also told him that even though he is small, it doesn t make him
weak. When David got the kicker position, he still didn t think he was good enough to play with
the rest of the boys. He thought that he wasn t going to make it before he even kicked the ball.
When his father noticed this behavior, he raised both of his hands up straight until David saw
him. This small act of belief in David made him do his best in football. David received a lot of
support from his coaches, and especially his dad. By the end of the movie, David scored a point
for the team that made them win the state championship against the Giants, a team that was twice
their size and never lost a game. This is a great story of personal growth and this is what made him
my favorite character from the movie. What intrigues me the most is what happened after he made

being that humans may after all be closely related to fish. When first hearing this theory, for
anyone it is hard to believe. Humans have fingers and fishes have fins! They have gills and we
have lungs! Many things point towards the fact that humans have nothing in common with fish
until one looks at the bone structure of each and how exceptionally similar they are. The reason
for the similarity is because both species share a common ancestor. All animals with limbs have
a common design. If a batwing were to be formed from a person s hand, make the fingers
extremely long; a horse elongates the middle fingers and reduce and lose the outer ones; frogs
elongate the bones of the leg and fuse several of them together. All in all, despite radical changes
in what limbs do and what they look like, this underlying blueprint is always present. Before
Tiktaalik was named, Fred

The Myths Of College Majors
Myths of College Majors College students have the hardest time paying off their student loans, but
why? Well, most students usually pick their major based on their talents and their interests.(Source,
Time) This idea sounds like a smart move, but in fact it is putting students in a very difficult
situation. Since most majors end up making considerably less money in their first year out of
college, it is becoming more and more difficult for majors in the humanities and arts to pay off their
student loans.
When I chose my major, criminal justice, I did pick it because I had been involved with a police

I know from researching my career path that the salary I will receive because of my degree will be
ample to pay off my loans within a couple of years. Most students end up in debt because they don
t take the time to look ahead to the future. For some it is a $80,000 life experience which leaves a
future graduate with debt.
For an example, my stepfather is a general manager for a car dealership. We had a conversation
about college graduates who apply at his dealership for a salesperson job. These applicants have
zero experience and when you look at their college major, it has nothing to do with sales. He had
one individual who went to Anderson College. He was a music history major and during his
interview he said that he needed the job to pay for his college loan payments. He was over
$100,000 in debt. I found this shocking that someone would be that far in debt and they are not
even using their degree. This is a common issue with many graduates. A college degree is no
guarantee of economic success, but through a graduate s choice of their major, they can take at
least some steps toward boosting their odds. (Source, IM) I interviewed ten family and friends who
attended a college or university. Five out of ten people who went to college did not end up
graduating. All five who did not graduate did not have scholarships or grants and had to pay for
their tuition. Three of those five said it took over

that I am still making a decent salary. The global market is high for hardware engineers.
Everything has computer operating systems now including phones, and cars. Everything is
getting smaller, and the world is always going to be accepting of new technological advances in
hardware. In a competing global market it s a sure fire way to know that I would have some
semblance of job security in the future because I would always be in on the creation and design
of new hardware for more compact machines. Industry is going to be technology in 20 years.
Everything that s struggling to conform now is going to be defunct because hardware is
advancing at such a rapid pace. Governments are going to be reliant on technology for means of
communicating with each other and assert global dominance. Every company is going to have
to have a division that includes a hardware engineer because technology is advancing so rapidly,
that even the simplest things are going to include microchips. Hardware engineering is a very good
career choice for me because It s a field that I can most assuredly be safe in. It s not going to die.
The field will be forever be evolving, and changing, and all of the

Gordon Ramsey
1.The first reality television show that I enjoy watching is Hell s Kitchen, which is a cooking
competition show, hosted by a well known chef, Gordon Ramsey. I like this show because I like
eating and I love watching people cooking. In addition, I find most of the dishes attractive.
Therefore, when I watch the Hell s Kitchen, I agree all the contestants are very talented because
they have brilliant ideas on how to cook their dishes. Although this show is entertaining, one of the
problems that disturb me the most is hearing insults from Gordon Ramsey. I do not understand why
he needs to insult the contestants when they had already tried their best. Of course, it is undeniable
that Ramsey is a genius cook, but I think it is unnecessary to comment

Progenitor Cell Vascularization
The trachea is an organ particularly prone to infections as it functions to transport atmospheric air,
containing a multitude of airborne bacteria and viruses, to the lungs. When these microorganisms
enter the respiratory system the trachea s goblet cells secrete mucus to trap them and halt their
progression into the lungs. Ciliated epithelium within the lumen along with the cough reflex clears
the secretions from the trachea and excretes them through the mouth. Therefore it is important that
when generating a TET appropriate cell expansion and differentiation occurs. There are several
proposed methods of seeding a scaffold that include direct in vitro implantation, progenitor cell
mobilization and adjacent tissue cellular migration. Progenitor cell mobilization is promoted by...

Vascularization is done either through a shared blood supply from adjacent structure or
angiogenesis within the graft. Angiogenesis was confirmed in all patients by one month. The
patient with postmortem analysis showed the presence of capillary proliferation, whereas in the
other patient bleeding was elicited by bronchoscope contact of the graft within the lumen. These
results show that the grafts will likely not failure due to inadequate vascularization. Despite these
promising results the patients experienced stenosis and fungal infections that complicated their post
operative periods. Stenosis was identified in two patients along the distal anastomosis sites
secondary to scar formation. In both cases the stenosis responded well to serial balloon dilation.
Fungal infections were found in two patients, although one was likely caused by the pre and
postoperative steroid administration. Based on this it is suggested that patients with TET
transplantation should be treated with prophylactic with anti fungal

The Cost Of A Higher Education
All through life, most children are told that getting a higher education is the only way to have a
successful life. Each year the cost of college rises, with that the total student debt rises as more
students take out loans to help pay for his or her education. An astounding 1.2 trillion dollars is the
United States student debtamount, and every year it continues to grow. (Investor s Business,
2015, p. A14). According to new reports, 27.3% of student loans are delinquent and that on
average a student s loan debts is roughly a little over $20,000. (Investor s Business, 2015, p.
A14). Block (2014) says that about 40% of loan borrowers had a balance less than $10,000 and that
about 3.7% had balances that were over $100,000.
Although these numbers can seem daunting and a little disconcerting, with the right knowledge
and education, students can obtain their degrees and have minimal debt to deal with. While
¬¬¬there are loans and grants that students are able to receive, a higher education should be
more affordable for both students and parents of students. The need for a degree has increased
dramatically since more and more employers are requiring it. Students and parents of students
are paying the price by going in debt so they can hopefully get a better paying job. While most
people are not in debt to the horrid student loans, the student debt problem is not going away; we
all know someone who is struggling to pay off his or her student debt. The need to succeed can be a

Nostalgia In That Girl In Pinnafore
In modern English, the meaning of nostalgia is the sentimentality for the past. According to Oxford
University Press, the word originated from two Greek words, nГіstos, meaning homecoming and
ГЎlgos, meaning ache. Nonetheless, by the early 20th century, the word nostalgia means longing
for the past , especially the good old days from one s earlier life. The globalized world today
made such old memories even more precious. Numerous literature showed that music and
photographs are good stimuli for nostalgia and people often feel emotionally consoled upon such
experience. Therefore, incorporating the nostalgia genre into films might be one reason for the
success of the Singapore film, That Girl in Pinafore by Chia Yee Wei, which grossed an estimated

The rat race in today s world resulted in the compromisation of childhood. Teenage dreams might
also be compromised along the process of growing up. As the quote says, dreams often differ
from reality. Hence, the nostalgia for childhood, especially those before the 21st century, is
reinterpreted as paradise. It not only provides an emotional attachment to the past, it also remind
individuals the simplicity of life. Living in the fast pace and complex 21st era, the simplicity is
long gone. Just like the recurring quote in the film, You can only see things clearly with your
heart, what is essential is invisible to the eye a quote taken from The Little Prince, a classic French

photographs and music in the film can only act as a stimulation towards nostalgia. In summary,

Reflection Analysis
In 2017, it seems engagement in controversial discourse is the ultimate taboo. In fear of offending
others, youth avoid discussions of religion, political opinions, and economic problems altogether.
Or, in contrast, discussions of these topics turn hostile and have to be extinguished in the
classroom. The result of this problem is that many young people do not know what they truly
think about controversial topics, and a generation of apathetic thinkers that never go beyond the
mainstream media for their opinions is produced. A society without individual core beliefs and
values cannot function as a democratic republic. I think it is important for our society to be able
to discuss controversial topics because I think that, like Christ, we should meet others where they
are. Every day, I see people dismiss an idea simply because it does not fall in line with their
particular political partyor because the idea conflicts with the sentiments of the popular media.
Instead, if we hear out the challenging opinions of others, we can unravel ideologies of our own.
I also see people who avoid the news or political disputes at all costs because they do not want to
feel the debaters contention. I too dodged the nightly news and the following dinner table
deliberations until I attended Volunteer Girls State in June 2017. At Volunteer Girls State, I learned
how to be civically engaged in my community and how to be an effective leader. Throughout the
week, I participated as a Senator,

Total Eclipse Annie Dillard Summary
Based on Annie Dillard s account of witnessing a total eclipse in her essay Total Eclipse I would
have to say she definitely encourages her readers to witness a total eclipse. She says that it is
almost the opposite of a partial eclipse, which I am sure most people have seen many times
before, that s how different they are and I believe most people including myself think partial
eclipses are spectacular and almost dreamlike. The opening line in Total Eclipse is It had been

through the mountains and down into the Yakima Valley and how she feels this place is so
strange because it is all new to her. This gives you an idea of Annie Dillard s... Show more content

of an airplane (480). As I have both flown in an airplane and fallen out of a perfectly good
airplane and deeply enjoyed the latter it makes me think that one like myself, an adventurous
adrenaline seeker, would really like to see a total eclipse. It would be a totally new experience,
anyone would want to experience something so out of the ordinary. One thing Dillard says that
could impact the reader s feelings about seeing a total eclipse would be how she says God save
us (482). What does Dillard want to be saved from, before this she is describing the movement of
the sun into the final phase of the total eclipse almost as if she is dieing because all the colors
around her are changing, turning from green to black and gray because of the lack of sun. Why
would Dillard ask God to save her? Is she scared because this total eclipse is unknown to her
having never experienced it? Some people might say why would I want to see something that is
related to something like death, and I believe that one would want to witness such an event
because death is something you can only participate in once because after you have you are only
existent in people s memories. Inquisitiveness would overrule any other feeling for many people
and would be a point to fortify that the reader would want to see a total eclipse even more so

Abstract. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids Are Ergogenic...
Abstract
Anabolic Androgenic Steroids are ergogenic resources commonly used by athletes in search of
better achievement performances. However, the use of these substances by non athletes, for
aesthetic purposes, have become a growing problem in gyms and sports centers. This conduct has
favored the indiscriminate and abusive use of these steroids, exposing its users to health risks.
Anabolic steroids are a subset of androgens, namely, synthetic compounds derived from testosterone

objective of improvement in physical performance, due to its great anabolic and reduced
androgenic effect property. Therefore, these anabolic properties promote the... Show more content

Testosterone exerts effects as androgenic and anabolic in an extensive variety of target tissues,
including the reproductive system, the central nerve system, anterior pituitary gland, kidney, liver,
muscles and heart (Hebert et al., 1984; Shahidi, 2001; Sinha Hikim et al., 2002). The Androgenic
effects are responsible for the growth of the male reproductive tract and development of secondary
sexual characteristics, while the anabolic effects stimulate nitrogen fixation and increase protein
synthesis (Shahidi, 2001). The anabolic activity of testosterone and its derivatives is manifested
primarily in your mycotrophic action, resulting in an increase to muscle mass by increasing the
protein synthesis in the muscle (Kam, Yarrow, 2005) and by controlling body fat levels.
The potential therapeutic value of anabolic activity of testosterone in various catabolic conditions
have led to the synthesis of many derivatives which aims to prolong its biological activity,
developing products ever less androgenic and more anabolic, called androgenic anabolic steroids.
Therefore, anabolic steroids are a subset of androgens, namely synthetic testosterone derivatives,
(Kam, Yarrow, 2005).
Anabolic steroids were first developed for therapeutic purposes, as an example, for the treatment of
patients with natural androgen deficiency, on surgeries recovery, muscle atrophies by improving
nitrogen balance in catabolic states, preventing the loss of lean body mass and reducing the growth

Bruce Tuckman s Four Stages Of Team Development
HW 5: 5 STAGES OF TEAM BUILDING
Introduction
In 1965, Bruce Tuckman developed the first four stages of team growth. He called these stages
Tuckman Stages, based off of a study he conducted on research dynamics (Abudi, 2009). However,
in 1977, a fifth stage, adjourning, was added to the four stages. The five stages that will be
discussed are: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.
Forming Stage The forming stage occurs when the team members first get introduced to each other.
Typically, either a formal or casual meeting is held between team members. Each team member
shares information about themselves, such as their background information and their general
interests. I like to see it as an ice breaker. You cannot start... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I compare it to an actual performance this is the stage of a performance where are all the scripts
are finished and the acting begins. In more literal terms, the performing stage is when everyone
in the team starts acting towards the goal. By this point, the team members are more
comfortable with each other. At this point, the team leader isn t involved in any decision
making. It is wholly up to the team to work on the project at hand and to reach their goal. The
advantage to this role is that it allows the manager to see how the team is growing. It also allows
the manager to see how well his/her team can work on their own two feet without having to be
guided by a leader. However, I noticed that it is possible during this stage to revert back to the
previous stages of team building. I have noticed while working on group projects for school, that
there is usually one person who tends to start working independently. This will immediately take
the group back to the storming stage. If the team gets taken back to any of the previous stages, it is
up to them to work through the change to get back to the performing stage (Abudi,

How Technology Can Define Ethical Standards and Cultures
How Companies Use Technology to Set and Manage Ethical Standards
Introduction
The agility and resilient nature of any organization is highly dependent on how effective it is in
using technologies to implement, continually manage and reinforce ethical standards throughout
the many departments and functional areas of a their business. The greater the level of compliance
to ethical standards, the more cost efficient it is for organizations to meet legally defined
compliance requirements as well. Using IT to align an organization to its compliance mandates
through the use of ethics based management can deliver significantly greater profitability over the
long term. The goal of this analysis is to analyze the approaches organizations are using to combine
leadership strategies and technologies to create highly effective organizational cultures. How
technologies are used has a significant effect on the ethical foundation, expectations and cultures of
an organization. Not only do they amplify a leader s key insights and thoughts, they also create the
means by which employees can communicate, collaborate and define a culture of high ethical
standards and conduct or not. Leadership will determine which direction an organization will go on
this continuum ethics and technology.

Speech In Favor Capital Punishment
Speech In Favour Of Capital Punishment
Capital Punishment is the lawful infliction of death and has been used in Britain since the 5the
century. It was not until 1964 that capital punishment was abolished and this has been described by
many historians as Britain s worst decision in over 500 years.
Along with these Historians, I also believe that our country was much better off with the death
penalty as a punishment for sick and twisted people, murderers, rapists and peadophiles. Did you
know for instance that in 2003 there were 1048 murders and 172 attributed to one man. . . Harold
Shipman. Compare this to 1963 when the death penalty was used as an active deterant to murder,

I hate to bore you with the statistics again but it is true that the threat of a hard punishment is
enough to scare without having to carry it out. In the Isle of Man, there was a punishment up until
1975 called birching, a public beating for any crime. The crime rate in the isle of man for 17 years
in a row? Less than 2%. A few minor crimes in 17 years. Birching was abolished and now the
crime rate in the Isle of Man is sky high, just like the rest of the UK. Proof that if the punishment is
severe enough, there wont be a crime to start with.
So will Britain ever restore capital punishment? In a survey of 2000 UK residents 72% would like
it re instated. Despite what the government tells us we live in a society of ever rising serious
crime and wether we like it or not, something needs to be done. And harder sentencing is not
enough. We need a real deterrent, Capital Punishment is the answer to our prayers. Hanging was
my family s business for over 14 years and we were honored to protect our country and perhaps in
advertantly save lives. I know for a fact that if hanging was re instated as the quick and painless
punishment to kill, i would gladly pull the lever.
I am as sure as I can be that capital punishment is the answer. The mandatory life sentence is just
not enough. It fails, in my view to distinguish between really awful crimes and those crimes, whilst
still murder, are more understandable. Ask yourself, is it right that a serial rapist

Crimes of the Poverty Stricken vs. the Affluent
The crimes of today are vast and varied amongst the different socioeconomic statuses. Crimes
committed by poverty stricken individuals are many times out of necessity. For example, a mother
who needs to feed her children will often resort to stealing food or small, expensive items that can

commit theft, robbery, or other violent acts. (Taylor 2006). On the other side of the coin there are
also the crimes committed by the affluent. For many of the same reasons such as stress; stress to
succeed or compete with the neighbours or others in the same socioeconomic status. There is also
another dimension to consider that is often overlooked; the degree of violence or careless disregard
of others when these crimes are committed.
The media highlights on a daily basis, crimes being committed across the nation. The news is
usually about the smaller crimes committed by the poverty stricken. Robbery, theft, gang
violence, domestic abuse and drug raids are the hallmark of the news and very often it is
acknowledged, sadly, as a part of day to day life. However, the big news that catches the attention
of almost everyone is the child abductions, murders and rapes. More often than not these crimes are
committed by people that come from affluence. Andrew Luster, the great grandson of Max Factor

Critical Appreciation Of William Wordsworth Poetry
An Analysis on William Wordsworth s Poetry
Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey
The poem Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey, on Revisiting the Banks of the
Wye during a Tour, 1, July 1798 is deeply rooted in its author s personal history. It was written by
the poet William Wordsworthafter taking a walking tour along the Welsh Borders with his sister,
Dorothy. In the summer of 1973, Wordsworth visited North Wales when he was still quite young
and anxious, with the world on his shoulders. He was, at that time, still new in his profession,
with very radical political views, as well as an estranged father to an illegitimate child in France.
He was only twenty three years old then. Five years later, when he returned to ... Show more content

He discovers a deeper sense of existence when gazing across the scenery, as opposed to the
shallow and superficial perspective he once had. He finds himself more calm and restored when
immersed in nature, and that nature inspires in him a sublime state. Wordsworth was so entranced
with the beauty of the Wye that it would cause him to feel dizzy or slow down his breathing, but
as he grew older, this tendency of his had changed; the beauty no longer overwhelmed him as
much, and he had more control over his senses where he would look and actually see, or hear and

Fences Within The Theft Act 1968 And 1978
The Fraud Act 2006 was introduced for the purpose of broadening the fraud offences that resided
under the Theft Act 1968 and 1978. The implications of the offences within the Theft Act and Fraud
Act will be critically discussed throughout the essay with the addition on how the changes in the
law has made prosecuting offenders simpler. It is imperative to compare the two Acts, to allow a
greater understanding from an investigators perspective if the enactment has had a positive impact.
To support the points discussed, case law and legislation will be utilised appropriately.
Prior to the Theft Act, the Larceny Act 1916 was in place for the purpose of providing a modern
law on theft. Larceny was limited as an offence, as it was stated that ... Show more content on

As deception was restricted to human minds only, it excluded computers/machines, thus causing
complications. A case that applies to this issue is R v Preddy [1996]. The defendant obtained
loans by providing false information and was tried for S15 of the Theft Act. It was perceived that
the money obtained was a chose in action and not property belonging to another, as a result, not
making him liable for the charge. To resolve this issue, S15(a) was introduced obtaining a money
transfer by deception . This was solely created to ensure individuals who exploited machines and
computers to commit an offence, could not escape conviction.
There was still gaps within the amended Theft Act, thus, to alleviate this issue, the Law
Commission formed a Fraud report in 2002 that recommended to abolish the offence of conspiracy
to defraud, and the deception offences under the Theft act 1968 and 1978 to be repealed. As a result
of this, the deception offences under the Theft Act was replaced by a single offence of fraud,
however, the conspiracy to defraud offence was not abolished and the fraud offence broadened the
way the felony can be perpetrated.
There were issues raised with conspiracy to defraud. One being that it is heavy reliant on what the

Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance
Healing and Deliverance
I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first
step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and
deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a
process that does not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible
sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing
requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I
remember falling off of a set of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely
swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into
my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at
times was extreme and required close attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to
face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to use
different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the
swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my ankle which required
me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was
able to walk again without bearing any pain.
I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with
pain and go through the process of deliverance. I believe our greatest pain comes when something
is taken from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we
will never forget.
Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our
character and peace of mind if we are not careful. Have you ever had a painful experience that
left you numb, perplexed and or even in a daze? The type of pain I described can take years to
heal. I remember watching the movie Diary of a Woman. The story centered on a cruel male
lawyer and loyal wife who had marital problems. The marriage experienced great sufferings and
left great physical, mental and emotional pain for both the wife and

  • 2. The Roaring 20s In The 1920s The 1920s were prosperous times for Canada and many other countries around the world. Canadian economy, thanks to its vast storage of natural resources, was striving to the extent that the 1920s was nicknamed The Roaring 20s . The 1920s era not only provided Canada with an amazing trade relationship, but also led to the development of different movements inventions that shook the world and shaped the way we live today. These impacting events include artwork, social change, women s rights, prohibition, the Model T car, the radio, silent film, medical advances and the telephone. Though all these phenomena worked together to make the 20s roar , but in particular women s rights, medical advances and the telephone made the most prominent impact on the past and present society. God had created males and females to be equal, but this principle did not play out well back in the 1900s. Though women were given some respect due to their contributions in World War 1, they still were controlled by their dominant male counterparts. By 1917, most provinces in Canada, with the exception of Quebec and the maritime provinces, officially allowed women to vote and by 1919, women were even given the right to be part of the parliament. Though women could vote and take part in the parliament, only a few of them were elected to office. Ultimately, society still viewed women to be inferior to men. They served as helpers in the work force and were rarely allowed to make decisions. They occupied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Gatsby Delusion In the article, The Gatsby Delusion, Sarah Churchwell discusses the American Dream and it relates to F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby. Churchwell says that the term, American Dream is used to represent our failures in life rather than the successes. During the 1920 s, the nation s wealth was not evenly spread because the richest owned forty percent of the nation s wealth while more than half lived in poverty. James Truslow Adamswrote a novel about the American Dreamand stated that the belief in the common man and the insistence upon his having, as far as possible, equal opportunity in every way with the rich one. However, his ideas were misinterpreted. Churchwell says that the American Dream is used as a nightmare and is causing lots of spending and gambling. I agree with that point because the dream was something most people could not achieve and it was mainly a struggle. The American Dream has become the nation s favourite way to discuss widespread inequality and downward social mobility. This means that the wealthy people are able to succeed and accomplish their dream because they have more money. In the Great Gatsby, Gatsby was not able to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy due to the fact he was poor. Churchwell emphasizes Fitzgerald s knowledge from the 1920 s and continues to relate it to today s society. She says that Adams said that the dead dream will always fight on, as we try to touch the intangible, struggling unhappily, undespairingly towards what we keep losing. Fighting for a dream that is most likely not going to occur because of financial difficulties creates tension with those who can afford anything they want. Here at Virgin Atlantic, we identify and meet customer needs through customer survey questionnaires/ comment cards and customer forums/focus groups. When the survey questionnaires or comment cards have been read by a member for our staff, usually the customer service manager, they then analyse all of the comments to find areas of improvement in order to meet customer needs. For example, if a number of customers have complained about staff not knowing obvious information i.e. directions around the airport, prices of products or check in times, that would tell us that our staff are unequipped to help our customers. From this, we will then need to realise and work our a way to get more information into our staff in order to meet the needs of our customers more efficiently. This can be done in many ways, however the most ideal one for this situation would be to hold regular morning/afternoon meetings to keep staff updated with information. When we exceed customer expectations, we like to go that extra mile by giving out customers more in depth information. An example of this would be when a customer asks simply the time of their flight, we like to make sure that our staff will fully inform our customers of their flight time, boarding time, gate number and if there will be any delays. The Arian controversy caused Constantine to call for the Council of Nicaea, which was the first of the Ecumenical Councils. Arias denied the deity of Jesus. Analysis of a Memorable Scene from Saving Private Ryan MEMORABLE SCENE IN SAVING PRIVATE RYAN The epic 1998 war movie Saving Private Ryan opens in the present day with an elderly World War II veteran accompanied by his family visiting the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Colleville sur mer in Normandy, France, site of the infamous D Day landings by the Allies in Nazi occupied France on June 4, 1944 that precipitated the end of Nazi occupation in Europe and the end of the war. As he approaches the tomb stones he begins walking faster, separating from his family behind him and he collapses in tears at the foot of one grave in particular, that of Captain John H. Miller. The screen then dissolves and transitions to the horrendous scenes of human carnage on Omaha Beach on Normandy on June 4, 1944 seen through the eyes of Captain Miller. The final scene of the movie was especially memorable because of the way that it tied together the memories of the elderly veteran with the heroism and human tragedy that took place on the same beaches and that he witnessed and experienced personally inland. As the story unfolds, Miller is assigned the task of leading a squad of U.S. soldiers through occupied territories far ahead of the Allied advance into France with a specific mission directly from General George C. They note that an impairment on one part of a stream or river does not necessarily mean that at other points of the waterbody it is constituted as impaired. The options we have available to alleviate this situation are few. One option, considered by many is simply to do nothing. This is advanced by many who believe that since we can treat the water we should not be placing any more burden upon our farmers. Most Republicans in the state legislature believe this is the best idea, because it is better to have the Des Moines Water Works to have to pay to fix the water than to place costly measure upon farmers and hurt out economy. However, this option does not fix our increasingly polluted water, and does not help fix the increasing Dead Zone. The need for a degree has increased dramatically since more and more employers are requiring it. Students and parents of students are paying the price by going in debt so they can hopefully get a better paying job. While most people are not in debt to the horrid student loans, the student debt problem is not going away; we all know someone who is struggling to pay off his or her student debt. • 26. Nostalgia In That Girl In Pinnafore In modern English, the meaning of nostalgia is the sentimentality for the past. According to Oxford University Press, the word originated from two Greek words, nГіstos, meaning homecoming and ГЎlgos, meaning ache. Nonetheless, by the early 20th century, the word nostalgia means longing for the past , especially the good old days from one s earlier life. The globalized world today made such old memories even more precious. Numerous literature showed that music and photographs are good stimuli for nostalgia and people often feel emotionally consoled upon such experience. It not only provides an emotional attachment to the past, it also remind individuals the simplicity of life. Living in the fast pace and complex 21st era, the simplicity is long gone. Just like the recurring quote in the film, You can only see things clearly with your heart, what is essential is invisible to the eye a quote taken from The Little Prince, a classic French novel; the same applies to the theme nostalgia. • 27. Reflection Analysis In 2017, it seems engagement in controversial discourse is the ultimate taboo. In fear of offending others, youth avoid discussions of religion, political opinions, and economic problems altogether. Or, in contrast, discussions of these topics turn hostile and have to be extinguished in the classroom. The result of this problem is that many young people do not know what they truly think about controversial topics, and a generation of apathetic thinkers that never go beyond the mainstream media for their opinions is produced. A society without individual core beliefs and values cannot function as a democratic republic. I think it is important for our society to be able to discuss controversial topics because I think that, like Christ, we should meet others where they are. Every day, I see people dismiss an idea simply because it does not fall in line with their particular political partyor because the idea conflicts with the sentiments of the popular media. Instead, if we hear out the challenging opinions of others, we can unravel ideologies of our own. I also see people who avoid the news or political disputes at all costs because they do not want to feel the debaters contention. I too dodged the nightly news and the following dinner table deliberations until I attended Volunteer Girls State in June 2017. At Volunteer Girls State, I learned how to be civically engaged in my community and how to be an effective leader. Throughout the week, I participated as a Senator, ... One thing Dillard says that could impact the reader s feelings about seeing a total eclipse would be how she says God save us (482).
