comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The difficulty arises from the need to
balance both analytical and critical thinking, as well as the ability to effectively communicate

Living Like An Exile By William Hazlitt Analysis
William Hazlitt explores the difficulty of living a comfortable life when one lacks
money through harsh diction and symbolic syntax. Hazlitt describes the bleak
future of those who lack money through his harsh diction. He emphasizes the
challenges of living a life where one does not have the financial ability to sustain
themselves. Money is required when making transactions for necessities such as
food and shelter. Those without money are condemned to serving as a thrall or
living like an exile while being scrutinized and neglected . Life as a thrall or as an
exile is not a pleasant one, living a life under servitude or as an outcast of society.
Similarly, one who lives life without money does not lead a pleasant life; it is difficult
Barbados Slave Code Of Dominos Essay
The fear of rebellion is what gave the colonies the idea to pass a chain of laws that
restricted many of the slave s rights. Each colony had a diverge set of ideas about
the rights of the slaves. There were some similar aspects in the slave codes across
the land where slavery was the most frequent. Slaves were legally considered
property, which did not give them the option to own land. If there was no presence
of a white person, slaves were not allowed to congregate. Any slave that lived off
the plantation had to follow the special curfew or there would be severe
consequences. In the chance that a slave was in court being accused of any
criminal act towards a white person, the slave would have no chance to testify.
Slaves were always absent in the jury. Slave codes had many destructive effects on
the lives of African Americans. It was illegal to teach a slave how to read and
write. Many white Christians tried to educate slaves on how to read the Bible;
however, those same people did not approve of marriage between the slaves. This
way it made it easier to sell a member of the family to another owner without
causing strife between the owner and slaves. These laws set the foundation for a law
called the Barbados Slave code of 1661.
The Barbados Slave Code of 1661 was a law passed by the colonial English
legislature to provide legal basis for slavery in the Caribbean Island of Barbados. The
codes preamble, which stated that the law s purpose was to protect slaves as we do

How are fire scenes different than regular crime scenes for investigators? They are
different than regular crime scenes because fire scenes have a different procedure.
Plus, most fires scenes don t require a search warrant. This is because it can take a
long time to get a search warrant but with fire scenes it is crucial to get the
evidence as soon as possible because causes of the fire, like petroleum, can
evaporate within days, or even hours of the fire. Also, they need to know how to
prevent the fire from starting again and possibly injuring fire fighters or other
emergency responders.
What is the blast effect? The blast effect is the outward rush of gases from the bomb

Do you think search warrants should be required for fire scenes? Why or why not?
Search warrants are not required for fire scenes because the evidence at fire scene
needs to be collected as soon as possible because it is important to determine where
a fire started and why in order to prevent the fire from starting again and possibly
injuring fire fighters or other emergency responders. This wouldn t be possible if we
had to wait more than a couple hours for a search warrant.
Do you think more countries should adopt the practice of putting color coded chips
in explosive materials? Why or why not? I absolutely agree with the adaption of
putting color coded chips in explosives. These chips allow forensic scientists to track
down viable information about the explosive that will help find the culprit
responsible for the explosion.
Why do you think crime scenes involving homemade bombs have increased? I think
homemade bomb crime scenes are increasing because of the opportunities we now
have. This includes the internet, which tells us how to make the bomb, and stores
that sell and/or produce the supplies for making the bombs.
Why do you think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes to those
involving fire and explosions? What benefits or challenges are there because of these
different procedures? I think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes
to those involving fire and explosions
The Madres De Plaza De Mayo s Social Movement
Despite isolation from family members and constant fear of their own lives, The
Madres de Plaza de Mayo s social movement has improved the Argentinian culture
over the years. We ll take a look back at what prompted the creation of the Madres
social movement, what the goals of the Madres social movement were about, and
how the Madres movement has changed Argentinain present day society. The real
question to ask yourself is what would you be willing to do for the wellbeing and
safety of your family and loved ones?
First, let s take a look back at what prompted the creation of the Madres de Plaza de
Mayo social movement. Argentina during the years 1976 through 1983 was called
the Dirty Warera. During these years Argentina was being governed by President
Isabel PerГіn along with a deadly military junta dictatorship. The Dirty War era can
be summed up as basically the government s attack on Argentinian individuals
suspected of any political opposition. Opposition was choked off by rigorous
censorship, strict curfews, and fear of the secret police. (Encyclopedia Britanica) The
secret police, or ( government ), would often kidnap, torture and kill these individuals
before disposing of their bodies in nearby oceans, in rural areas, or in mass unmarked
graves. It is estimated between ten thousand and thirty thousand Argentinian
individuals lost their lives during the Dirty War era. Although to this day, the
government has only acknowledged some involvement with approximately nine

The Gauchers disease is described as the metabolism error that leads to the defect on

The Effects Of Coral Bleaching On Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are unique and diverse underwater marine ecosystems that are found in
many parts of the world. Today these tropical reefs suffer a great deal of
environmental stresses and are projected to decline over the next century due to
global warming. In Grottoli s article: The cumulative impact of annual coral
bleaching can turn some coral species winners into losers, she elaborates on the
effects of annual bleaching on three species of coral. Grottoli took three species of
coral such as O. Faveolata, P.asreoides P.divaricata and exposed the treatment groups
to high temperatures of 31.5 В°C for 15 days while control groups remained at a
normal temperature of 30.6 В°C for the same amount of days. After treatment species
were then weighed and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such high level of energy reserve is a good indication of over all health and ability
to acclimate to harsh environments. An endosymbiont level is a measurement of
other beneficial cells that lives on the coral and forms a symbiotic relationship.
Researchers recorded their results and then repeated the experiment on the same
corals a year later to see the effects of repeated high temperatures as a model for
annual coral bleaching as a result of global warming. Upon completion of the
experiment Grottoli and her team of researchers noted, yearly bleaching can
dramatically alter the thermal tolerance of corals (Grottoli s, 2014). Interestingly
enough, while the majority of the species decreased in all variables compared to
controls, P.divaricata increased in energy reserves at about 20 45% higher than
controls after the second treatment. This increase in total energy reserve lead to a
reduction in the susceptibility to coral bleaching for that species. Thus, suggests that
this species of coral can adapt to high temperatures after the first event of bleaching
occurs. Conversely, due to its low energy reserves and its low potential to increase
endosymbiont levels, P.asreoides is not likely acclimatize to higher temperatures thus
resulting in low abundance of the species in future
The Republic, By Plato Essay
In one of his most widely read texts, the Republic, Plato sets out to explore the very
nature of the concept of Justice, the various forms it takes in the world, and its
relevance to the lives of men. As Socrates states, it is about the way we ought to live
(I 352d). The dialogue begins by introducing the commonly held view of justice, via
Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus, as the non performance of certain types of
unlawful or antisocial acts. However, the entire treatise quickly moves on to
concentrate on a different meaning of justice, as a form of moral virtue. He wishes to
demonstrate that justice and moralityare interconnected because humans can only
achieve a good life which he claims is the best way to live if they have those things
that are desirable in themselves (II 357b). Therefore Plato s argument, as it sets out
to prove the intrinsic value of living a just life, is neither deontological, nor
consequentialist. In the Republic, Plato is arguing for the transcendent value of
justice as a human good, or virtue, which informs and guides moral conduct. Plato
bases his argument on a new and unique understanding of what justice is and how
morally sensitive people are able to learn about the real nature of justice, morality
and other virtues. He believes that it is necessary to grasp the true or intrinsic nature
of certain virtues in order to make accurate judgements about the appropriate way to
act in relation to others, justice and the collective good.
Fall Risk Prevention Within A Hospital Setting
Fall Risk Prevention in a Hospital Setting
As we age, our bodies tend to weaken and we become more susceptible to disease
and illness. When we have a disease, this causes us to become weakened and we
will have a higher chance having a fall, which is America s highest unintentional
killer in hospitals. The definition of a fall is an unintentional change in body
position that results in the patient s body coming to rest on the floor or ground
(Ignatavicius Workman, 2016). At one point in our lives, we all have taken a
stumble or two, possibly injuring ourselves or worse, but as we get older, our
chances of falling increase dramatically. Aging is inevitable and we will all have
injuries and illnesses that increase our chances of having a ... Show more content on

Children also have a tendency to have falls since their muscles and bones haven t
fully developed yet. In a study with 782 pediatric patient falls inside of a hospital,
86% of the pediatric patients had appropriate cognitive abilities for their age while
the other 14% of the patients had delayed cognitive abilities. Even though that in
this pediatric hospital supervision is much more keen, 77% of the falls recorded
had adults watching them (Jamerson all, 2014). In Jamerson s study 49% of the
falls resulted from ambulating, while the other 51% were transitioning to a
different position. With younger aged patients, increased surveillance and
instructions of fall risks help reduce the risk of falls, along with increasing status
communication to other nurses (Jamerson all, 2014). Now it s time we look at
geriatric patients in a hospital setting. There were a total of 893 falls in a single
year at a geriatric clinic of academic teachings, with 240 of these falls being
injurious (Kruse). After nurses educated their patients on fall risks, the number of
falls in this geriatric hospital dropped down to 468 in patient hospital falls, a 52%
decrease in falls, with only 129 of these falls (28%) being injurious. As the education
for the older generation and the safety regulations on the younger generation
increased, the amount of injuries relating to falls decreased immensely.

For instance,
Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his
male slaves. Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles.
It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus
and a civis Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman
citizen), so that a so called marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave)
would have no legal standing in Roman law (apart, presumably, from the arbitrary
will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases). Furthermore, matrimonium is
an institution involving a mother, mater.
The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in
matrimonium ducere, so that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal
validity notwithstanding, there is a consensus among modern historians that same
sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the exact frequency and nature of same
sex unions during that period is obscure.
In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the
Theodosian Code (C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering
execution for those so married.
The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro DГaz and
MuГ±o Vandilaz, in the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April

With such devastation and failure of not really discovering or finding anything,
Bartolomeu Dias felt terrible. Although with such luck, on their way back to
Portugal, Dias discovered the Cape of Good Hope near the southern tip of Africa. He
originally named it the Cape of Storms due to all the violent storms in the area, but
king John then renamed it to the Cape of Good Hope. After Dias s massive
discovery, he returned to Portugal in December, 1488. Due to Dias s brilliant
discovery, he was later on employed to go on another voyage. A month later,
Bartolomeu Dias unfortunately passed away due to a ship wreck at sea near the
Cape of Good Hope during a storm.

Apathy Definition
Before infrastructure, before wildlife, before the oceans, and before the sun, was the
one specimen that created all that came prior: the human brain. The brain, in all its
intricacy and wonder, can cause the greatest pain and the greatest success. The very
framework the brain embodies succumbs to its purpose of formulating ideas or
creating makeshift plans to haphazardly carry out. Humans, the most complex of all
creatures in the world, exemplify the notion of using their brains for creativity, critical
thinking, and extreme to moderate emotional ranges. However, with this intellectual
power, comes great opposition, as man s greatest obstacle has become overcoming his
emotional severity to utilize his mind s sole purpose: rational thinking.... Show more

Although apathy is accredited to the intricacy of the human brain and how it absorbs
immediate content, apathy is strictly unaffordable. The limitations the brain asserts
on humanity is unaffordable. Due to the instability of the environment s future, the
rising sea level must be made a very steady danger. People must be made highly aware
of the threats, implications, possibilities, and immediacies, through any mechanism
they encounter with, may it be through news stations or media outlets. The strength
of unity among humans must be depended upon to eradicate apathy. Science has
spoken, the environment has lectured, and the ocean will soon shout. Time is not on
the planet s side, and apathy quickens the pace of absolute destruction. Climate
change is not a hopeless cause, as long as the looming culmination of the rising sea
level is not hidden away by the thunderous and covert operations through ennui and
lack of involvement by the human race. Neutral plasticity is a real component of the
brain s gift that keeps on giving, and humans can initiate change in their own minds
and create their own neural networks. Connections can be made and destroyed, and
responses can be manipulated in response to new situations and changes in the
environment. The preceding solutions to apathy only prove how flexible and
revolutionary the human brain can be in times of
Home Education Vs. Public Schools Essay
For so many decades in most countries around the world, education was offered to
children in formal areas allocated for this purpose. These areas were mainly schools
and colleges. A certain number of hours were assigned every day to the education in
which the children would leave home in the morning for schoolspend the whole day
being taught in a series of classes as well as co curricular activities. On a normal
school day, children would be taught different subjects that the school offers have
some time allocated for physical education and sports and also have breaks in
between for meals. Recently, however, homeschoolingis on the rise in most parts of
the world. For so many years this system of education was a reserve for the royals
who were not allowed to freely mingle with children of other citizens.
Homeschooling also known as home education refers to the education of the children
inside their homes as opposed to a formal setting of a private or public school. This
practice is on the rise with statistics showing that today more than two million kids
are taught at home. Although many scholars support education that is offered in
formal settings such as schools, homeschooling has been an effective alternative to a
cheaper more wholesome method of educating children. This practice has immense
positive effects on a child physically, mentally and socially with very dismal
differences in terms of a child performance when compared to education offered in

Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception is a chapter in Theodor Adorno
and Max Horkheimer s book Dialectic of Enlightenment it goes onto discus the
conflicts presented by the culture industry. Adorno states that the culture industry is a
main phenomenon of late capitalism, encompassing all products from Hollywood
films, to advertisements, and even extending to musical compositions. Adorno is very
deliberate in noting the term culture industry over mass culture this was done to
specifically distinguish, that it is not to be understood as something which
spontaneously stems from the masses themselves. Products of the culture economy
take on the appearance of artwork but are in fact dependant on industry and economy,

The author goes on to explain that the public refrains from criticizing the media
because they are dependent upon it. They need the culture industry in order to
achieve pleasure and satisfaction and cannot imaging their lives without it. The
industry preserves its power by presenting an ideal of the good life as reality and
through false conflicts that trade him for his real ones. The industry spreads false
values and establishes the individual s willingness to be a part of society and to
coordinate his interests with it. Adorno also states that the culture industry takes
advantage of the weaker classes by making its content shallow and widely appealing
and thus demoting the value of culture Everyone knows that they are helpless within
the system, and ideology must take account for this The main argument behind the

Opium Wars Unfolded And Their Effects On Others
How the Opium Wars Unfolded and Their Effects on Others The Opium wars were
a series of conflicts mainly between China and Britain. The dispute was over the
legalization of the Opium trade. China s people were severely suffering from the
effects of the Opium. Britain had been illegally moving opium from India into China.
A large mass of the public had become addicted to opioids and the government sensed
the problem. Due to the success of the opium trade, Britain refused to stop bringing in
the Opium. The conflict between the two countries sparked the two part Opium Wars.
The first Opium warresulted in many different unsteady treaties, many of which were
seen as unfair to the Chinese. The second Opium Warwas a result of British greed.
The Chinese were preoccupied with the Taiping Rebellion, so the British decided to
take advantage of the situation and push the opium trade further, resulting in
further conflict. The French decided to join the British in the fighting, and the
Chinese were left defeated and forced into negotiations. Both wars resulted in
series of treaties, but each war s treaties had different impacts and affected people
in different ways. After the first Opium War, China had to give up a lot in order to
bring peace with Britain. A series of treaties were signed. The first treaty was signed
in August of 1842 in Nanjing. This treaty was known as the Treaty of Nanjing. There
were many parts to this treaty, but there were zero benefits to China. The

Predictive Policing
Information Systems for Decision Making
October 21, 2012
In 1994, the New York City Police Department adopted a law enforcement crime
fighting strategy known as COMPSTAT (COMPuter STATistics). COMPSTAT uses
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the locations of where crimes occur,
identify hotspots , and map problem areas. COMPSTAT has amassed a wealth of
historical crime data. Mathematicians have designed and developed algorithms that
run against the historical data to predict future crimes for police departments. This is
known as predictive policing. Predictive policing has led to a drop in burglaries,
automobile thefts, and other crimes in some cities.
From the 1800 s until about the 1980 s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many would say, the greatest advantage of this system is that police presence is
continuously felt and criminals tend to think twice before acting, as response time
will be immediate. With the existence of this presence community relationships have
shown to grow stronger and the citizens feel safer and more compelled to share
information about criminal activity, which can help solidify information that is
inputted into the system.
Since many police agencies intend to implement predictive policing in their
departments they should know the advantages and disadvantages of it. The most
popular advantage is the reduction in cost to the agency, this is popular presently
because there are so many cuts happening due to the economy this helps out a lot.
The budgets of many police agencies are getting smaller and smaller year by year,
so by being able to pinpoint the exact location of crimes and to put your offices in
the hotspots can potentially be a big money saver for the force. Another advantage
is the software is very user friendly and easy to use, the amount of training for the
officers would not be as much as with other software s have proven to be and it is
also less expensive for larger agencies. However, like everything there are also some
disadvantages. The biggest one is the software is not compatible with other software s
that are currently used by most agencies, which will

Satire In Greek Comedy
Satirical methods have been introduced since the beginning of history as a form of
entertainment and a way to get a message across. This is demonstrated through Greek
comedies in particular. Greek comedies were typically written to address the common
people of that area through actions and words that they would find humorous. Not
much has changed today. Comedy and satirical methods are still present and continue
to hold a place in current society. The Acharniansis a clear example of an ancient
Greek play that uses satireto relay a message, and The Word: Armistice is a news
broadcast that plays as evidence that satirical methods used in the past are still present
today. Both hold many similarities, and their differences reveal how much society
and satire have changed throughout the years. The Acharnians is a satirical, ancient
Greek play by playwright Aristophanesdemonstrating a main theme of peace. The
play is set during the Peloponnesian war which was primarily fought between Sparta
and Athens. Dicaeopolis, the protagonist of the play who yearns for peace,
impatiently waits for an assembly to begin and will only stand for speeches that
speak of creating peace. However, the general assembly and Athenians are not
interested in creating peace. At the assembly, Dicaeopolis meets Amphitheus who
claims to be an immortal god. Amphitheus gives him a private peace treaty with
Sparta in exchange for eight drachmas. Throughout the play, Dicaepolis is showered
with luxurious belongings due to private trade with the enemies of Athens while
Lamachus, a belligerent war hero, is living in terrible conditions due to war.
Dicaepolis convinces the chorus, or common people of the play that maybe war isn t
worth the suffering it brings and that Athenians share more similarities with the
people of Sparta than originally thought of. As a result of this, Dicaepolis is
celebrated as a hero at the end of the play. Playwright Aristophanes uses a series of
satirical methods to present his theme of peace throughout The Acharnians. He makes
fun of the citizens of Athens and the Athenian government for their pugnacious
methods in war with Sparta and other nations. War gives them nothing but starvation,
poverty, and death on both
Westernization Of African Americans In The Colonial And...
An analysis of gender, class and westernization all combine together into multi
layered complications that Africans faced in the colonial and postcolonial period.
These challenges come from examples such as the slave trade and the break from
colonial power to the political complications that limit the development in the rest of
the country. Westernization dismantled a lot of social and political authority within
Africaand created a new standard of class that favors those who are affiliated with
European heritage and its is still being embedded today. Gender plays into this role as
well as it can be used as a way to deprive one s dignity and status or can be a way to
show one s wealth. Westernization started when there was a stable and... Show more

In the east , it was easier for slaves to climb through social classes, especially men

Located in our local museum of Fine Arts here in Houston, Texas the painting The
Elder Sister done by the famous painter William Adolphe Bouguereau in 1869 is
known at the museum for being an anonymous gift given to the museum in the year
1992. When one take a trip to the museum to view this painting one gets this feeling
of adoration. The paintingbetween the two siblings gives out a caring and calm
perspective. A reason one can get this feeling of the painting created by
Bouguereau is because it shows on how the elder sister has the passion of caring for
her younger sibling. Her small smile painted on her face and her hold to her younger
sibling shows the loveshe has. Including the look in her eyes that has a straight
glance to the art viewers shows the care and loving emotion. Including as if her
eyesight was showing one the same love and carefulness affection she shows the
younger child in her arms known as her sibling. One as an individual can see that
Bouguereau meaning or description of the painting he is trying to give is the purity

The Mountains Of The Rocky Mountains
The Rocky Mountains, also known as the Rockies, extends for some 3,000 miles
(4,800 km), that covers land in two North American countries! With a distance of
3,000 miles, the Rockies must have a variety of physical features and landscapes that
makes it an attractive area to tour and explore. However, all of the human interest in
this mountain range could come at a devastating cost. Disturbances such as resource
extraction, tourism/settlement, and farming in the Rocky Mountain region must
cease because they are causing major, irreversible environmental degradation.
The Rocky Mountains contain many resources, like oil, logs, and coal, that people
utilize in their daily lives. With such a high demand for these resources, people are
going to the Rocky Mountains to extract these valuable goods. Resource
extraction, such as logging, oil exploration, and mining, however, is extremely
harmful to the Rockies ecosystem. The Rocky Mountains are experiencing slope
erosion where the top layer of soil falls off usually into areas of water and
according to Armand Eardley, from Encyclopedia Britannica, Logging and oil
exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion, both from
operations themselves and from the access roads built to reach them. Erosion has
stripped away the often thin soil cover and caused serious silting of streams. Erosion
is harmful because it leads to this serious silting of streams. According to the

Apache Cassandra is another open source distributed database management system
developed to handle large data sets. It is a gift given to the big data users by
Facebook in 2008. The purpose of this research is to highlight the importance of
Cassandra in the world of NoSQL by discussing about some of the main questions
like, what are the difficulties faced with the traditional relational database
management systems, how these issues are solved by using NoSQL, how Cassandra
came into existence, why it is used by some of the major organizations to handle their

There are many NoSQL databases and each either have some common functionalities
or have some unique functionalities when compared to the relational model. The main
thing to be considered is that none of the NoSQL results work for all scenarios.
Each works better than the relational models and satisfies some subsets of the use
cases. Apache Cassandra is one of the NoSQL databases which is most widely used
in the industrial market. This article gives a detailed information about Cassandra, its

someone who look at Cassandra for the first time.
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Difficulties with traditional RDBMS
In the initial stages of evolution of databases, relational databases systems was
designed as a solution to the problems of flat file databases. A relational database
stores data in multiple table. This technique helped to overcome the issues like data
duplication, data noise and inconsistency which ensured that the data is entered and
stored only once. Later as the data grew in size, it became a challenging task to
handle such a significantly large amount of data. Key features like high data velocity,
data variety, data volume and data complexity are few important reasons which the
traditional database systems failed to handle successfully. As a result NoSQL came

Machiavellianism In Much Ado About Nothing
Machiavellianism is seen by many people as describing others as being evil, selfish,
and only doing things to benefit them or make them feel good. In the book Much
Ado About Nothing, there is many examples of Machiavellianism through characters
like Don Jon, and Borachio. Only one of those can take the throne, so to end the
debate, Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon due to his plan for Claudio, his
evil actions during the planning, and execution phases of that.
The first reason to show that Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon is,
because he s the one that actually got the idea to trick Claudio that Hero is cheating,
and his more evil personnel. In Act 2 Scene 2, Don Jon tells Borachio that Claudio

When Borachio, and Conrad are talking about the plan, while being drunk, well even

the actual plan, Borachio says a line stating Thou shouldst rather ask if it were
possible any villainy should be so rich. For when rich Villains have need of poor
ones, poor ones may make what price they will (Shakespeare 55). In this line
Borachio is being disrespectful to those less fortunate people, and saying that how
can a Villain be so rich? As he himself is one of the villains of this plot, he is acting
like those highly ranked jerks that only care about themself, as he is also saying
that poor people don t really have many choices of luxury as him. Would people
want everyone to act like Borachio? Sliding into the next reason that how he
decided to deliver, and execute the plan, Borachio tells Conrad word for word what
they had setup. On one part of the explanation he offends ancient people called
Pharaohs soldiers which the side notes state are people drowned in the Red Sea,
and he totally disrespects them. Next he legitimately states that he is telling this
story highly offensive, with intention. Lastly, Borachio he took all the credit of the

The Physics Of Mechanical Engineering
In our daily life we face challenges that we can relate to mechanical engineering, one
of the common examples is the temperature in metal, which is the thermal expansion.
Mechanical engineers use combination of material, human and economic resources to
develop mechanical solutions that help satisfy the needs and wants of society. They
must be confident and accurate when making decisions. Engineers try to look at the
problems in the society and come with innovative ideas in order to solve the
difficulties.
Engineering industry has a wide variety of jobs such as civil engineer where you over
watch bridges, buildings, and the other important structures; it makes sure everything
is up to code for large building and structures. Mechanical engineering works on
mechanical systems and other complex mechanics, such as; cranes and airplane
motors. Work experience as an engineer is very important because when projects
are being built, calculations should be accurate in all details, otherwise the projects
will fail and that may cause deaths. In addition, knowing how to react in certain
situations under certain circumstances is an essential part of being an engineer. If
someone who is inexperienced tries to take on a real engineer job, there could be
extreme results and repercussions. One of the problems we, as engineers, face in the
engineering world be when there are or could potentially be an irresponsible
engineer or engineers, who are the lead project manager(s) working on

Literature Review
It is acknowledged in the hospitality literature that in order to succeed companies
have to establish seamless internal and external relationships. (Lolli, 2013). Facing
the reality, there are many elements which could help hotels to maintain and optimise
effective corporate relations. Although, this factor might be not enough to establish a
competitive advantage towards the competitors, it must be strictly connected to the
end customer in order to lead companies to business success (Carlos Bou‐Llusar
and Segarra‐Ciprés, 2006).
According to Gronroos(2004) the relationship is seen in a marketing perspective, he
suggests that strong connection between various departments of an organisation and
its supply chain could create additional value to the service and moreover for the end
consumer. This connections could allow the company to have an ongoing
relationship with the customer, making him feel secure and developing a sense of
trust which underlies to organisational success (Men, 2014).
Furthermore, another significant aspect to consider in the hospitality sector is the
fact that a service is considered as intangible, perishable and inseparable from the
service provider (Solnet, 2012). This notion

happening to, quite literally, our back yard. This book takes place in the southern
Utah and Arizona, and is told in 3rd person, but not following any one specific
character. It switches which character you are following throughout the story. The
main characters are George Hayduke, Bonnie Abbzug, Doc Sarvis, and Seldom Seen
Smith.

Hayduke used the winch on his Jeep to lower himself and his Truck off the
overhanging cliff. Towards the end of the book, Forest rangers arrest a sleepy
Seldom Seen Smith because he stole some camper s hamburger, and they thought
he was Rudolf the Red. Next chapter, Hayduke was on a 500 foot cliff, over a huge
flood happening in the river below, and Love, as well as a bunch of police had him
pinned down. Hayduke hid out in a crevice for over 6 hours while Love and his
men waited for him to surrender, or shoot. Eventually they see what they think is
Rudolf the Red emerging from the crevice with a rifle and they all open fire. What
they believe to be Rudolf is literally pushed of the edge with the bullets and never
found. In the last chapter, the rest of the gang is playing a poker game when Doc
Sarvis gets an unexpected visit from Hayduke, who somehow survived, and wants to
finish their initial job, destroying Glen Canyon dam.
I believe that Abbey did achieve his purpose with this writing. The book has so
much emotion, and detail about the beauty of this place that it s hard to think that
he didn t. The book was very interesting, as well as powerful. It was a difficult read
at times, but it kept me interested and wanting to read. A weakness of this book is
that back grounds to some of the events were not explained fully. Some strengths are
that it s a very interesting and moving reading and
Disadvantages Of Occupational Therapy
Introduction
Occupational therapy s body of knowledge lies in human behavior and activity as
well as in the effect of pathology on behavior and the effect of activity on pathology.
(Gilfoyle, 1980)
The basic philosophy of occupational therapy speaks to Man as an active being and to
the use of purposeful activity (as) Man s interaction with and manipulation of his
environment. (DiJoseph, 1982)
The impact of societal change on OT practice
Since 1900s, social movement has its effect on occupational therapy s values, along

There are many advantages of this system, such as scientific medical advancement in
technology and research and cost saving practices. On the other hand, one of the main
disadvantages is the inequality of the distribution of health care resources which is
seen in the rising number of uninsured in the United States. (Sanders, 2002) As of the
most recent Census Bureau data available, there were approximately 46 million
uninsured Americans in 2005, which is approximately 15.9% of the US population.
(Rosenbaum, 2006)
Comparison between United Kingdom and United States health care systems
The United States of America and the United Kingdom. These two countries have
close historical and cultural ties, but when it comes to health care, the United States
and the United Kingdom are significantly different. Because they differ so greatly,
both countries could learn from each other to create better policy and systems and
thus improve health care delivery to their respective citizens.
Access to health care in the United States is not guaranteed by the government, unlike
the United Kingdom and all other industrialized nations (Sanders, 2002). And it is the
only industrialized country that does not offer universal health care to its population

Effects Of The Black Sox Scandal
The Black Sox scandal is the name given to the conspiracy that fixed the 1919
World Series which was played between the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati
Reds. A number of players on Chicago conspired with different gamblers to throw
the games on purpose. This is the biggest scandal in major league history. ( Black
Sox Scandal. ) This betting conspiracy between a group of players and gamblers led
to the permanent banning of eight players from the White Sox baseball program.
They were very strict on these players, the Major League Baseballassociation took
away the players contracts, and they also fined the players of various amounts of
money. ( Black Sox Scandal. )
After this disaster, it took the Chicago organization a very long

  • 2. Living Like An Exile By William Hazlitt Analysis William Hazlitt explores the difficulty of living a comfortable life when one lacks money through harsh diction and symbolic syntax. Hazlitt describes the bleak future of those who lack money through his harsh diction. He emphasizes the challenges of living a life where one does not have the financial ability to sustain themselves. Money is required when making transactions for necessities such as food and shelter. Those without money are condemned to serving as a thrall or living like an exile while being scrutinized and neglected . Life as a thrall or as an exile is not a pleasant one, living a life under servitude or as an outcast of society. Similarly, one who lives life without money does not lead a pleasant life; it is difficult
  • 3. Barbados Slave Code Of Dominos Essay The fear of rebellion is what gave the colonies the idea to pass a chain of laws that restricted many of the slave s rights. Each colony had a diverge set of ideas about the rights of the slaves. There were some similar aspects in the slave codes across the land where slavery was the most frequent. Slaves were legally considered property, which did not give them the option to own land. If there was no presence of a white person, slaves were not allowed to congregate. Any slave that lived off the plantation had to follow the special curfew or there would be severe consequences. In the chance that a slave was in court being accused of any criminal act towards a white person, the slave would have no chance to testify. Slaves were always absent in the jury. Slave codes had many destructive effects on the lives of African Americans. It was illegal to teach a slave how to read and write. Many white Christians tried to educate slaves on how to read the Bible; however, those same people did not approve of marriage between the slaves. This way it made it easier to sell a member of the family to another owner without causing strife between the owner and slaves. These laws set the foundation for a law called the Barbados Slave code of 1661. The Barbados Slave Code of 1661 was a law passed by the colonial English legislature to provide legal basis for slavery in the Caribbean Island of Barbados. The codes preamble, which stated that the law s purpose was to protect slaves as we do
  • 4. Essay on review and critical thinking questions 08.06 Review questions 08.06 How are fire scenes different than regular crime scenes for investigators? They are different than regular crime scenes because fire scenes have a different procedure. Plus, most fires scenes don t require a search warrant. This is because it can take a long time to get a search warrant but with fire scenes it is crucial to get the evidence as soon as possible because causes of the fire, like petroleum, can evaporate within days, or even hours of the fire. Also, they need to know how to prevent the fire from starting again and possibly injuring fire fighters or other emergency responders. What is the blast effect? Do you think search warrants should be required for fire scenes? Why or why not? Search warrants are not required for fire scenes because the evidence at fire scene needs to be collected as soon as possible because it is important to determine where a fire started and why in order to prevent the fire from starting again and possibly injuring fire fighters or other emergency responders. This wouldn t be possible if we had to wait more than a couple hours for a search warrant. Do you think more countries should adopt the practice of putting color coded chips in explosive materials? Why or why not? I absolutely agree with the adaption of putting color coded chips in explosives. These chips allow forensic scientists to track down viable information about the explosive that will help find the culprit responsible for the explosion. Why do you think crime scenes involving homemade bombs have increased? I think homemade bomb crime scenes are increasing because of the opportunities we now have. This includes the internet, which tells us how to make the bomb, and stores that sell and/or produce the supplies for making the bombs. Why do you think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes to those involving fire and explosions? What benefits or challenges are there because of these different procedures? I think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes to those involving fire and explosions

  • 8. The Effects Of Coral Bleaching On Coral Reefs Coral reefs are unique and diverse underwater marine ecosystems that are found in many parts of the world. Today these tropical reefs suffer a great deal of environmental stresses and are projected to decline over the next century due to global warming. In Grottoli s article: The cumulative impact of annual coral bleaching can turn some coral species winners into losers, she elaborates on the effects of annual bleaching on three species of coral. Grottoli took three species of coral such as O. Faveolata, P.asreoides P.divaricata and exposed the treatment groups to high temperatures of 31.5 В°C for 15 days while control groups remained at a normal temperature of 30.6 В°C for the same amount of days. Such high level of energy reserve is a good indication of over all health and ability to acclimate to harsh environments. An endosymbiont level is a measurement of other beneficial cells that lives on the coral and forms a symbiotic relationship. Researchers recorded their results and then repeated the experiment on the same corals a year later to see the effects of repeated high temperatures as a model for annual coral bleaching as a result of global warming. Upon completion of the experiment Grottoli and her team of researchers noted, yearly bleaching can dramatically alter the thermal tolerance of corals (Grottoli s, 2014). Interestingly enough, while the majority of the species decreased in all variables compared to controls, P.divaricata increased in energy reserves at about 20 45% higher than controls after the second treatment. This increase in total energy reserve lead to a reduction in the susceptibility to coral bleaching for that species. Thus, suggests that this species of coral can adapt to high temperatures after the first event of bleaching occurs. Conversely, due to its low energy reserves and its low potential to increase endosymbiont levels, P.asreoides is not likely acclimatize to higher temperatures thus resulting in low abundance of the species in future
  • 9. The Republic, By Plato Essay In one of his most widely read texts, the Republic, Plato sets out to explore the very nature of the concept of Justice, the various forms it takes in the world, and its relevance to the lives of men. As Socrates states, it is about the way we ought to live (I 352d). The dialogue begins by introducing the commonly held view of justice, via Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus, as the non performance of certain types of unlawful or antisocial acts. However, the entire treatise quickly moves on to concentrate on a different meaning of justice, as a form of moral virtue. He wishes to demonstrate that justice and moralityare interconnected because humans can only achieve a good life which he claims is the best way to live if they have those things that are desirable in themselves (II 357b). Therefore Plato s argument, as it sets out to prove the intrinsic value of living a just life, is neither deontological, nor consequentialist. In the Republic, Plato is arguing for the transcendent value of justice as a human good, or virtue, which informs and guides moral conduct. Plato bases his argument on a new and unique understanding of what justice is and how morally sensitive people are able to learn about the real nature of justice, morality and other virtues. He believes that it is necessary to grasp the true or intrinsic nature of certain virtues in order to make accurate judgements about the appropriate way to act in relation to others, justice and the collective good.

With younger aged patients, increased surveillance and instructions of fall risks help reduce the risk of falls, along with increasing status communication to other nurses (Jamerson all, 2014). Now it s time we look at geriatric patients in a hospital setting. There were a total of 893 falls in a single year at a geriatric clinic of academic teachings, with 240 of these falls being injurious (Kruse). After nurses educated their patients on fall risks, the number of falls in this geriatric hospital dropped down to 468 in patient hospital falls, a 52% decrease in falls, with only 129 of these falls (28%) being injurious. As the education for the older generation and the safety regulations on the younger generation increased, the amount of injuries relating to falls decreased immensely.

It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law (apart, presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases). Furthermore, matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater. The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a consensus among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the exact frequency and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure. In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code (C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married. The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro DГaz and MuГ±o Vandilaz, in the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April 16, 1061. They were

  • 15. Apathy Definition Before infrastructure, before wildlife, before the oceans, and before the sun, was the one specimen that created all that came prior: the human brain. The brain, in all its intricacy and wonder, can cause the greatest pain and the greatest success. The very framework the brain embodies succumbs to its purpose of formulating ideas or creating makeshift plans to haphazardly carry out. Humans, the most complex of all creatures in the world, exemplify the notion of using their brains for creativity, critical thinking, and extreme to moderate emotional ranges. However, with this intellectual power, comes great opposition, as man s greatest obstacle has become overcoming his emotional severity to utilize his mind s sole purpose: rational thinking.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although apathy is accredited to the intricacy of the human brain and how it absorbs immediate content, apathy is strictly unaffordable. The limitations the brain asserts on humanity is unaffordable. Due to the instability of the environment s future, the rising sea level must be made a very steady danger. People must be made highly aware of the threats, implications, possibilities, and immediacies, through any mechanism they encounter with, may it be through news stations or media outlets. The strength of unity among humans must be depended upon to eradicate apathy. Science has spoken, the environment has lectured, and the ocean will soon shout. Time is not on the planet s side, and apathy quickens the pace of absolute destruction. Climate change is not a hopeless cause, as long as the looming culmination of the rising sea level is not hidden away by the thunderous and covert operations through ennui and lack of involvement by the human race. Neutral plasticity is a real component of the brain s gift that keeps on giving, and humans can initiate change in their own minds and create their own neural networks. Connections can be made and destroyed, and responses can be manipulated in response to new situations and changes in the environment. The preceding solutions to apathy only prove how flexible and revolutionary the human brain can be in times of

This practice is on the rise with statistics showing that today more than two million kids are taught at home. The dispute was over the legalization of the Opium trade. China s people were severely suffering from the effects of the Opium. Britain had been illegally moving opium from India into China. A large mass of the public had become addicted to opioids and the government sensed the problem. Due to the success of the opium trade, Britain refused to stop bringing in the Opium. The conflict between the two countries sparked the two part Opium Wars. The first Opium warresulted in many different unsteady treaties, many of which were seen as unfair to the Chinese. The second Opium Warwas a result of British greed. The Chinese were preoccupied with the Taiping Rebellion, so the British decided to take advantage of the situation and push the opium trade further, resulting in further conflict. The French decided to join the British in the fighting, and the Chinese were left defeated and forced into negotiations. Both wars resulted in series of treaties, but each war s treaties had different impacts and affected people in different ways. After the first Opium War, China had to give up a lot in order to bring peace with Britain. A series of treaties were signed. The first treaty was signed in August of 1842 in Nanjing. COMPSTAT uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the locations of where crimes occur, identify hotspots , and map problem areas. COMPSTAT has amassed a wealth of historical crime data. Mathematicians have designed and developed algorithms that run against the historical data to predict future crimes for police departments. This is known as predictive policing. Many would say, the greatest advantage of this system is that police presence is continuously felt and criminals tend to think twice before acting, as response time will be immediate. With the existence of this presence community relationships have shown to grow stronger and the citizens feel safer and more compelled to share information about criminal activity, which can help solidify information that is inputted into the system. Since many police agencies intend to implement predictive policing in their departments they should know the advantages and disadvantages of it. The most popular advantage is the reduction in cost to the agency, this is popular presently because there are so many cuts happening due to the economy this helps out a lot. The budgets of many police agencies are getting smaller and smaller year by year, so by being able to pinpoint the exact location of crimes and to put your offices in the hotspots can potentially be a big money saver for the force. • 28. Satire In Greek Comedy Satirical methods have been introduced since the beginning of history as a form of entertainment and a way to get a message across. This is demonstrated through Greek comedies in particular. Greek comedies were typically written to address the common people of that area through actions and words that they would find humorous. Not much has changed today. Comedy and satirical methods are still present and continue to hold a place in current society. The Acharniansis a clear example of an ancient Greek play that uses satireto relay a message, and The Word: Armistice is a news broadcast that plays as evidence that satirical methods used in the past are still present today. Both hold many similarities, and their differences reveal how much society and satire have changed throughout the years. The Acharnians is a satirical, ancient Greek play by playwright Aristophanesdemonstrating a main theme of peace. The play is set during the Peloponnesian war which was primarily fought between Sparta and Athens. Dicaeopolis, the protagonist of the play who yearns for peace, impatiently waits for an assembly to begin and will only stand for speeches that speak of creating peace. However, the general assembly and Athenians are not interested in creating peace. At the assembly, Dicaeopolis meets Amphitheus who claims to be an immortal god. Amphitheus gives him a private peace treaty with Sparta in exchange for eight drachmas. Throughout the play, Dicaepolis is showered with luxurious belongings due to private trade with the enemies of Athens while Lamachus, a belligerent war hero, is living in terrible conditions due to war. Dicaepolis convinces the chorus, or common people of the play that maybe war isn t worth the suffering it brings and that Athenians share more similarities with the people of Sparta than originally thought of. As a result of this, Dicaepolis is celebrated as a hero at the end of the play. Playwright Aristophanes uses a series of satirical methods to present his theme of peace throughout The Acharnians. He makes fun of the citizens of Athens and the Athenian government for their pugnacious methods in war with Sparta and other nations. War gives them nothing but starvation, poverty, and death on both
