Persuasive Essay On Refugees
The issue of refugees heated up when President Donald Trump became president. He is totally against
of letting refugees into the United States. As most people who aren t refugees don t really care what he
does, but people who are refugees would have a different story. The UN has never really had any
issues towards refugees until Donald Trump had became president. The growth of refugees has
increased because of war, being discarded from the country, or not following the right religion.
Historically we have let many refugees come into our country in the past. According to The
Washington Post, global displacement levels declined to a historic low in 2005 but started escalating
again because of a series of conflicts, including the U.S. invasion of Iraq. By mid 2015, the total
number of refugees and internally displaced people had climbed to an all time high of more than 60
million people, the UNHCR estimates reflecting both the masses of people newly uprooted from war
torn regions of Syria and South Sudan, as well as those displaced years ago from places like Pakistan
and Afghanistan who still haven t been able to return home. So throughout the history, many refugees
have been fleeing their countries but letting refugees into the United States, it could cause a lot of
problems like it would cost the UN more money, there are billions of refugees why not help them all,
and there could be terrorist in the group. What this evidence suggests is that this is a very significant

The Importance Of My Experience At A College Band Camp
Have you ever spent a week at a college band camp? Unfortunately, it does not resemble the iconic
scene from the classic film, American Pie. This narrative depicts why I decided to attend Southwestern
rather than other colleges such as Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, and Wichita
State University. My fellow band friends and I took a three hour journey to Weatherford from
Blackwell to attend the Southwestern Band Camp for four days. As soon as we reached our
destination, I realized that this was where I wanted to be. When I stepped out of the cramped car, a
cool breeze blew across my face. On this ninety four degree mid summer day, band kids were walking
aimlessly trying to find the correct building to go to. As for myself, I knew exactly where to go. Check
in was at 1PM in the Oklahoma Hall and luckily for us, I had scoped out the campus on Google maps
to try and figure everything out. I knew once we exited the car that we needed to cross the street and
head towards the building that looked like an x . Once we had checked in and placed our suitcases
placed in the assigned dorms, we got our instruments out and headed towards the Fine Arts building.
Auditions were separated by the type of instrument you played. Unfortunately, I had to separate from
my friends since I played the bass clarinet and they played the saxophone. I had lost my way several
times. Students were pacing the hallways and loud jabber between fellow instrumentalists about the

Donatello Symbolism
Donatello around the mid 15th century creating a turning point in sculpture be adding meaning to his
creations as he watched them grow. Sarah McHam, wrote in her article titled Donatello s Bronze
David and Judith as Metaphors of Medici Rule in Florence the power of Donatello s bronze sculptures
and how they signaled a start for Florence during the Medici s Rule. The main argument of this article
focuses on the iconography and symbolism used in Donatello s David , and Judith and Holofernes.
Both are bronze and commissioned by the Medici family and located near each other. Both don t have
much in common outside of their placement and the idea of using old Greek and Roman poses, and
the idea of a hero and placing it in modern times. Another concept is the inspiration for Judith might
have been through a story titles Policraticus which emphasis murder and how powerful that sculpture
was in presenting that concept. There was no real evidence used that was quoted out, or presented to
us as someone else s ideas. McHam used all her own work and vision only relying on John of Salibury
s Policraticus to explain a possible connection and motivation for Judith. McHam did go back and
reference the location of these bronze ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McHam s information was spread out perfectly across the article, while also keeping me on edge with
what the Medici family was and how they used these pieces of artwork. I especially love how much
detail she went into about the symbolism of the two pieces even and how they have nothing to do with
each other besides that the Medici family commissioned them. Overall this article was enjoyable to
read and taught me about not only Donatello s David and Judith and Holofernes but also the history of
Florence around this time period, and how much power the Medici family

Asylum Seekers Oral Persuasive
Refugees Oral persuasive
In my opinion I strongly believe Refugees should always be welcome in Australia, everyone deserves
a safe and comfortable place to live and grow up in. Many in our society disagree on Refugees and
asylum seekers coming into Australia, but others would say everyone deserves something. Imagine
being in a refugee or asylum seekers shoes , imagine being sexually abused or living in a poor,
unhealthy environment, you d want to come to Australia to wouldn t you? Everyone deserves
something that makes them look forward to tomorrow
My first reason to why refugees should always be welcome is, how badly some get sexually abused or
assaulted, how poorly they are treated and are seen as things instead of humans. picture this, you a five
year old child, the village has been raided, your family have been killed except your uncle and one of
your sisters, she marries an older man, whom she does not love but needs safety and security... this is a
story that has happened before, a story that has happened many times, to many people. All of us,
should be valued and treated with respect, regardless of our skin colour, cultural beliefs and/or
background. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Small Loans Come Under Heavy Fire
Small Loans Come Under Heavy Fire in Alabama Small Loans Come Under Heavy Fire in Alabama
Small loans and their relatively high interest rates have recently come under attack by Alabama
legislators according to a report posted at Jdsupra.com. 45 members of the Alabama House of
Representatives recently proposed amending the Alabama Constitution to cap loan rates for any loan
product including a consumer loan, line of credit or other financial product. The proposal, which will
be knows as House Bill 321, directly challenges existing state legislation that regulates small loans
because it limits all loan products to 36 percent interest. Alabama s Small Loans Act already regulates
most financial products and caps interest rates for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In only 11 months, Alabama consumers took out 2,040,948 loans by only 238,797 Alabamians, or 5
percent of the state s population. Loan volume for the period was $668 million and advance fees
totaled $116 million. Small Loans for Bad Credit Are Exempt from Alabama s Rate Cap
The Smalls Loans Act of Alabama went into effect in 1959 according to Banking.alabama.gov. The
law capped interest rates for all loans to prevent usury. The bill recognized that small loans for bad
credit including those under $749 couldn t be made profitably at single digit interest rates. Since it was
impractical for these loans to be banned by law, the state decided to make a regulatory exception for
these lenders. The state s lawmakers felt that borrowers would always need small loans, and banning
them would only make consumers turn to riskier finance schemes such as borrowing from
unscrupulous lenders and organized criminals. The state now permits these lenders to make reasonable
profits by charging higher interest rates to allow lenders who meet the conditions of this chapter a rate
of charge sufficiently high to permit a business profit. Small Loans Online Come Under Increasing

Dear Dr. Salvo: The enclosed recommendation report compares green roofs and white roofs, which I
informed you of in my previous letter. The information in this report includes the cost analysis, which
examines the installation, maintenance, and replacements costs of each roof type. In addition, the
report examines the environmental impact in offsetting greenhouse gases. In the world of construction,
a white roof is a structure covering made with a top layer of highly reflective white colored paint. A
waterproof barrier and an insulation board follow the top layer. If you have any questions regarding
this matter, please contact me at snguillen@uh.edu or at (832) 466 8076. Sincerely, Saira Guillen

Narrative Essay On Odette Millenium
The accused needs to stand. The tribunal judge s voice echoed throughout the cavernous courtroom.
Although he sat high upon his chair behind his raised bench, the lighting around him was dim,
providing a sense of anonymity. To his right, a collection of citizens, too, sat shrouded in anonymity.
Several feet across from the judge, Odette Bordeaux pushed her chair out from behind the small desk
from where she had been placed. The wooden legs of the chair scratched abrasively against the
warped wooden floor causing an earsplitting screech that bounced around the room, magnifying the
sound until it reached a crescendo and then slowly dissipated. She was highlighted in a strong light
that shined down from the ceiling, exposing her to the jury and judge. Aged in her mid 40s, with
chestnut hair pinned neatly into a bun on the back of her head, Odette stood with the composure of a
lone leaf in a stout fall wind. Her hands, thin but calloused, trembled involuntarily, so she balled them
up and placed them behind her back. She wiggled her toes, hidden inside of her flats, to work off the
abundance of nerves ricocheting around inside of her. It wasn t ... Show more content on

though reading a grocery list.
How do you respond to these transgressions?
Odette stood silent before the judge and the collection of citizens, not sure how to respond. She knew
that admitting her guilt would make her vulnerable to severe repercussion; however, atoning for
actions that were necessary seemed like an illogical thing to do, but it was the truth.
How do you respond to these transgressions, defendant?

Judgement In The Crucible
Judgement. We all do it, every day. We make decisions based on certain factors of a person. In the
Crucible, a group of girls tell lies and act be switched to accuse people they dislike. They act as if the
convicted are Satan followers, knowing that the highly religious villagers would do anything to rid of
evil. It goes hand in hand with judgment, we see something or hear something we don t like, and
automatically have a whole idea about that person. Judgement is always present. Day to day can see at
least one person, or maybe even yourself=ves, making decisions or judgments purely based on say,
religion, gender, race, sexual orientations, and so on and so forth.
The accusations of today s world are just like the ones from the groups of the girls we see in the
Crucible. Everything in the Puritan society of the Crucible has to do with religious intolerance and
bigotry. As soon as John Proctor admitted to adultery, people had a change of hearts for the convicted,
but it all changed with what followed. Because adultery was seen as being of the devil, he was risking
everything. As seen in the Crucible, the black servant, Tituba was automatically thought to have to do
with the witch crafting because of her cultural background and ethnicity, which made it easier for the
girls to accuse her and have her thrown into jail. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can see women wearing hijabs, and some people rudely assert that they are terrorists and, not
actual people! In fact, as an example of religious discrimination wearing hijabs in some countries is
illegal. It is very unfair that just because someone looks or dresses a certain way means that people
can automatically assume things. The people of today no doubt need to change that. Judgement has

What Does Yada Mean
The biblical concept comes from the use of the word Yada , which means to know. I personally really
enjoy that word or better yet, the loftiness in the way the hebrews used words. I said to myself
sometime today before I viewed the lecture that the term love has become almost dead in my
vocabulary. Our culture has abused it.
Anyway, Yada means to know, but in their culture, you don t truly know someone unless you have a a
very personal and intimate relationship. A close, warm, passionate intimacy was was a must or you
didn t know someone. Relating this concept, our knowing God, to divine revelation.
Through God s love profoundly expressed through Jesus s coming, living, and dying for us on the
cross, we see the han God has for us.

#3 Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report BACKGROUND In the forensic science field, A
Latent Print is an impression of the friction ridge skin of the fingers or palms of the hands that has
been transferred to another surface. To break apart the phrase, latent print , the term latent , means
hidden and the term print means an indentation or mark left on a surface or soft substance by pressure
especially that of a foot or hand. So the phrase latent prints , refers to any print that must be enhanced
chemically or physically to be made visible. Another way to define latent print , is simply sweat that is
exuded from the body. Friction ridge skin is the only part of the body that doesn t exude oil. The only
oil that may be in a latent print has been picked up by touching another area of the body (face or ears
for example) or some foreign object. In 1863, Professor Paul Jean Coulier, published his observations
that latent prints can be developed on paper by iodine fuming and how to preserve the impressions.
However, with the discovery of latent print process in 1863, the first official use of latent prints wasn t
until 1933 with the Hamm Kidnapping case. To solve the Hamm Kidnapping case, a Silver Nitrate
Method was used. In the Hamm Kidnapping case, the use of the Silver Nitrate Method was the first
time this method was successful in obtaining latent prints. Since

Ethical Issues Surrounding Genetic Screening and Genetic Engineering
In today s modern age science is moving at a rapid pace; one of those scientific fields that has taken
the largest leaps is that of genetics. When genetics first comes to mind, many of us think of it as a type
of science fiction, or a mystical dream. Yet genetics is here, it is real, and has numerous ethical
implications. One of the particular areas of interest is prenatal genetics. In this field, many new and
outstanding innovations have been made. A mother and father can now check for a large array of
disorders that could occur in their child; sexual preference has now been shifted from the hands of a
higher being to that of someone with a Ph.D.; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this brave new field, there have been many steps and strides taken of which we could have never
imagined. For instance, before a mother and father decided to carry out the process of having
offspring, they can visit a genetic clinic to figure out if their child is likely to have certain illnesses. A
list of such illnesses are: Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, dwarfism, breast cancer (susceptibility to),
fragile X syndrome, Huntington s Disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and various types of
nervous system degeneration (Golden 51). These are only a few of the nearly 40 types of disorders
that can be determined by genetic testing. It may be rather nice to know that a child does not have a
genetic disease, but what does a couple do if the results of a genetic test are returned with negative
results? Also, if the information from the test is ambiguous the couple might decide not to carry out
the pregnancy due to risk. In a 1999 article written by Frederic Golden, he questions if the child
should be brought into the world ...in hopes that a cruel disease can be managed or cured... or if the
fetus should be aborted. He also poses the question of insurance coverage. This might seem like a
rather odd comment to make. Insurance is insurance isn t it? And for the most part we all have it. Yet
this brings us into another issue about genetics, privacy. Our genetic code is consistent throughout our
entire lives. It is who we are. Will insurance coverage be available

The Common Sexually Transmitted Infections Essay
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). This might be the reason why the
pharmaceutical company Merck Co. has invested time on making sure that the country is aware of
HPV. Merck Co has a few commercial about HPV and getting vaccinated. As a matter of fact the most
sexual active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. People
have known about the Human Papillomavirus since 1956 because a group of scientist discovered it.
However, it was not until 1984 that a German Professor by the name of Dr. Harald Zur Hausen put the
connection together that HPV and cancer coincide with one another.
Since HPV is a STI the common way of contracting it is by having vaginal , anal, or oral sex with
someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. HPV can be
passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms. Because HPV often has no signs or
symptoms, males and females can get the virus without knowing it and then pass it on. Anyone who is
sexually active can get HPV, even if you have had sex with only one person. You also can develop
symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you
first became infected.
There are a few HPV vaccines licensed in the United States. All HPV vaccines are administered as a 3
dose series of injections that is given deep into the muscles over a 6 month period. These vaccines are
safe and effective. The first dose

Essay On Apollo Space Program
The Apollo space program was arguably one of the most important missions in the entire history of
mankind. This program represented the hopes of one nation and the fears of another. The middle of the
20th century the United States and the Soviet Union were locked in a battle to see who could get to the
moon first known as the space race. This race was intensified by the cold war that was going on
between the two countries at the time as well. The Apollo program first began in 1961 because of the
Soviet Union and very quickly became the backbone for the space program (CSN website). President
Kennedy wanted the program to land a man on the moon by the end of the decade, as he wanted
America to beat the Russians to it. This however, was an extreme ... Show more content on

This program represented the most remarkable scientific feat of the entire 20th century, and perhaps of
the entire human existence on earth.
For the astronauts to land on the moon new vehicles would have to be implemented for the them to
land. NASA designed the Apollo Command Module for this program (NASA website). It was a
capsule that had room for up to three men. The men would ride in the Command module to the moon
and back. The vehicle that was used for landing on the moon was the lunar module, which carried the
astronauts from the orbit around the moon to the surface of the moon and back to the Command
Module (NASA website). In the Apollo program, there were two types of rockets that were developed
to get to the moon from earth. The first flights of the Apollo Program utilized a smaller vehicle known
as the Saturn 1 B rocket (Nasa website). This rocket was 22 stories tall and had two stages. The first
stage would run out of fuel and then disconnect from the other part of the vehicle and then fall back
into earth s atmosphere and burn up. The other part of the rocket would then continue to fly
positioning itself in the earth s orbit. This was to

Chronic Diseases Are The Leading Cause Of Disease
Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. Chronic diseases
and conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and obesity are the most
common, costly, and preventable of all health problems. In 2012, about half of adults had one or more
chronic health conditions. In 2010, seven out of ten causes of death were chronic diseases (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in
Dallas County, Texas (Edwards et al., 2012). Cardiovascular disease is the condition that involves

Evaluation Of A Chemical Substance
Spectrophotometry is an analytical method that measures how much a chemical substance is able to
absorb light by measuring the light s intensity as it passes through a specified sample.3 Given certain
wavelengths, the amount of a certain substance in a solution can be determined. The device used to
measure these properties is called a spectrophotometer. This device consists of a spectrometer that
produces light of any color (wavelength), and a photometer which measures the intensity of the light.2
In this experiment serial dilutions will be performed and from this, calibration curves will be
produced. New solutions will be created from these dilutions and each new concentration will be
found by using the concentration and volume formula ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four solutions with different concentrations were created with the B4 solution containing 10mL. The
C1V1=C2V2 formula was utilized again to calculate the new concentrations and the corresponding
values were recorded. Eight standard solutions were tested using a cuvette and a spectrophotometer.
Two spectra were ultimately saved, one for the Red 40 and one for the Blue 1. 3mL of a standard
solution was added to a cuvette and was prepared for data collection. Enough solution was added to
obtain viable results. The cuvette was placed in the SpectroVis accordingly. The absorbance of the
sample was recorded from 380 900nm, and the wavelength of maximum absorbency was determined
along with the absorbance at the λmax. These steps were repeated to determine the λmax and
absorbance for each of the eight standard solutions. The results were recorded and the spectrum was
saved. Part C was performed using prepared drink samples of Kool AidTM. The absorbance of each
sample was determined at the two average λmax wavelengths that were previously found in Part B.
The recorded absorbencies were made sure to fall in the respective absorbance values of the standard
solutions.
RESULTS DISCUSSION
In this experiment, the concepts of serial dilutions and the absorbency of light were explored and
analyzed. Calibration curves were also used that consisted of the λmax and absorbances of standards.

Examples Of Good Role Models In Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet there are many role models. However, very few are actually good role models.
While Romeo is a hasty man, a romantic, and all together a sissy; Benvolio is level headed,
compassionate, and wise. These two men, while friends, are quite different one being a bad role
model, and the other being a good one. Romeo, although a romantic and very lovable character, is not
a good role model for various reasons. In many times of trouble instead of looking for a solution to a
problem, Romeo will simply sit around and pout about it. In the beginning of the play, we know that
Romeo was crying for Rosaline because she was supposedly the most beautiful girl in the world and
his love for her was unrequited. Another time we see this is when he is banished for killing Tybalt and
goes to Friar Laurence and does nothing but cry. Romeo can also be seen as hasty. He doesn t think
throughwhat he does, and this could likely be because he is a romantic. His love for Juliet makes him
marry her without thinking of the consequences, and when Mercutio is killed, his romantic sense of
justice demands for Tybalt to be slain. Hastiness is a common theme of Romeo s actions, especially
when they concern Juliet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Benvolio, unlike Romeo, is level headed and thinks through everything that he does. In the first scene,
Benvolio tries to stop the fight and only enters the fight when his honor has been insulted. It is able to
be seen that he is wise in this scene as well because he doesn t want anyone to get hurt, Montague or
Capulet. He also keeps in mind what the Prince has warned them in most of the fight scenes. Although
harder to see, Benvolio is also compassionate. This makes him a well rounded role model. A time
where this can be seen is when he tells Romeo he will weep at thy good heart s oppression . Benvolio
is moved by his friend s suffering and is compelled to mourn for

For two weeks my mother did not see her father. The government knew why he went to America and
kept a close eye on him.
Many threats were brought upon the family. In addition to the phone being bugged, they received a
call that if they attempted to leave the country, they will be killed. My grandfather never left his two
daughters alone. Whenever they took him away, they were left with the neighbors for protection. He
would be gone for two to three days at a time. My mother was nearly kidnapped. The only reason they
were saved was because the maids of the house came out and started hitting the men. She was unable
to walk the streets or go to the market. Many families had to flee because many people were being
killed. Children of the military were escorted to places and teenage boys of the family were being
slaughtered. The families were either fleeing to South America, Spain, or the U.S.A.
A day before they left, he told his daughters that they we going to leave the country. My mother did
not want to leave to America but rather with her friends to South America. It was ideal to take refuge
in the United States because as children my mother and her sister went to there and already knew
English. For my grandfather being a business man his excuse was that he knew the American
economy and not South America s. If it was not for my grandfather being wealthy he would not have

There are samples of 45 units from each facility.
The required test will be a test for two independent samples ; the Z test and the t test are generally
used. The Z test is used with large samples (above 30 observations) and the t test with small samples.
Alternatively, the Z test can be used with smaller samples when the data are normally distributed and
population variances are known. In this case with a sample of 45 automobiles from each facility, the Z
test can be used. Here, we only seek to examine whether the gas mileage is the same for products of
the two facilities. Hence a two tailed test is appropriate. If on the other had if we sought to examine
whether automobiles from facility A produced automobiles that gave a higher gas mileage than those
manufactured at facility B, then a one tailed test would be appropriate.

course a student is put in the position to examine their own beliefs. This helps students realize what is
true and was is not, which may be something most people don t give much thought. The study of
philosophy displays different ways to think, reason, and evaluate ideas that may be unknown to
someone who has no knowledge of philosophy. Philosophy is everywhere in the world around us so, it

It was the primary pastime of families. The music was original and they were proud of it. The Cajuns
sang from the heart, and that is what made the music the best and only one of its kind. They expressed
their love, joy, pain, and grief through song. Playing the accordion was an important accompaniment
to their singing. This instrument gave Cajun music its remarkable sound and beat. French songs sung
by the Cajuns many times reflected their language. Slang phrases such as ?oh yai yi?, an expression of
grief or pain, and ?Aaeeh? were shouted during the song when no lyrics were sung. One particular
phrase used most often in French love songs was ?oh, petite ch #233;rie?, which meant ?dear little
girl.? A few French songs that became well known around Acadiana in the 1920?s and 1930?s were ?

The Lamb By William Blake
The Lamb was written by the famous English writer William Blake. William Blake was an English
writer from London who had very strong Christian beliefs that influenced his writings. Many of Blake
s poems had to do with his beliefs and views of God and Jesus. He published two famous book called
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experiences , where he describes life in the eyes of the innocent and
of the experienced. In 1789 Blake published The Lamb in Songs of Innocence. I was very pleased
when I first read The Lamb because it was an easy poem that just gives you a relaxing feeling. It also
relates to many of my personal views of God and his son Jesus Christ. A sonnet is a poem made of 14
lines, The Lamb is made of only 20 lines. The Lamb is organized into two stanzas. The first stanza
starts with Little Lamb, who made thee? and ends with Dost thou Know who made thee? . The second
stanza begins with Little Lamb, I ll tell thee and concludes with Little Lamb, God bless thee! . The
two stanzas are important because the first stanza asks a question about who created the lamb and in
the second stanza it give the response that God created the lamb. This poem does rhyme and has a
rhyme scheme of AA BB CC. AA is represented with thee and thee, BB is feed and mead, and CC is
delight and bright. William Blake often uses the pronoun thee and thou meaning you. By using the
word, thee and thy (you and your) it shows that Blake intended to write the poem in second point of
view.

Comedy Analysis
During this unit, my understanding of humor in literature evolved from believing that it was simply
comic relief to grasping that humor is an entertaining method of conveying a universal truth through
many different methods. Comedy comes in countless shapes and sizes, which all have different
purposes and appeal to a variety of audiences. However, although the forms of humor are diverse,
Springboard Activity 4.3 expresses that they can be categorized as either low comedy, which is
straightforward and generally easy to follow and understand (1) or high comedy, which can take a bit
of reflection to realize the humorous intent (4). Naturally, high and low comedy have different

Additionally, we studied another form of high comedy, situational irony. To demonstrate, in A Day s
Work , an excerpt from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer , Mark Twain reports that while Tom had to

doing his work for him while he sat back and enjoyed the so called treasures that they gave to him so
they could do his work, including a dead rat and a string to swing it with (44) and a brass door knob
(44). Despite having a slight understanding of what irony was before this unit, I had never heard of
situational irony before. Situational irony leads readers to believe that the story is going in one
direction, then suddenly revealing a twist that makes it humorous. If I were to have read this excerpt
before learning about situational irony and its aspects, I would have been thoroughly confused.
However, now that I have been introduced to this idea, I can understand and enjoy the often comical
product of situational irony. Even though Tom had been willing to give up some of his treasures at the
beginning, by the end he was rolling in riches without lifting a finger.

Doomed King Henry VIII
After I got this far in Doomed Queen Anne, I was just as intrigued and excited as I was when I d first

also found Anne s grip on the King s heart extremely fascinating. It was interesting to read as Anne s
intelligence continued to blossom and captivate King Henry VIII; you don t see a king plead on his
knees for a maiden very often. The book s plot, characters, and conflicts absorbed my mind quickly as

It seemed extremely cruel. I couldn t feel good about reading it. This part was important in provoking
Anne s vain confidence and what lead up to her downfall. It also showed that even King Henry VIII

feelings and true thoughts: both selfish and unselfish. On page 118, it said, Marry me, dearest Anne!
he cried, as though his heart would burst. Promise that you will be my wife! ( Meyer 118). Just
reading Anne s last few thoughts, rejoicing that she d be queen only made me see her as ungrateful

essential part of the story. Without them, the story would not have flowed the way it did, her opinions
about situations mattered quite a lot in knowing what she plans to do and all her feeling through and

Yes, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is a peer reviewed journal.
2. What is the purpose of this research? 10 points
A common dietetic strategy for reducing energy intake while still maintaining nutritional adequacy is
to replace full fat dairy products with reduced fat varieties. The purpose of this study was to examine
the dietary outcomes of this strategy in the context of weight loss by comparing the amount, type, and
nutrient contribution of dairy products consumed by overweight individuals participating in a weight
loss trial. A secondary aim was to determine whether individuals complied with a recommended intake
of reduced fat dairy product based on individual requirements. The researchers hypothesized that the
intake of fat and energy from dairy products would decrease, and a greater number of individuals
would meet the recommended number of diary product servings after 3 months of participation in the
weight loss trial.

St. Augustine s Confessions And Dante s Inferno
In St. Augustine s Confessions and Dante s Inferno, the central characters in their respective narratives
are presented a message from which induces distinct reactions. More importantly, their reactions are
reflections of their perspective concerning the Christian outlook towards life and passion.
In Book VIII.xi (29) the reader finds St. Augustine in a state of despair and anguish because of his
ongoing internal struggle between his mind and body. Afterwards, he undergoes a surreal experience
that ultimately leads to the climax of Confessions, his conversion to Christianity.
The catalyst for his conversion rests upon none other than a boy or a girl who might be chanting, per
St. Augustine, some sort of children s game (152). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
St. Augustine may be referencing the contrast of his experience to that of Noah s by mentioning flood
. While Noah immediately obeyed the given detailed instructions, St. Augustine is given four words,
yet he delays action as he reflects on the example of Antony, the father of all monks, for guidance.
Even though he delays taking action, the mention of the adverb solely suggest that St. Augustine does
take the choice to perceive, with no reserves, the message as divine. He could have merely attributed
the command as the nursery rhyme, but he did not. Instead, he shows faith and belief that Noah would
not have to demonstrate as the latter directly hears the voice of God.
After he reads Romans 13:13 14, St. Augustine neither wished nor needed to read further...All the
shadows of doubt were dispelled. The conclusion is a four lined passage which serves as the
conclusion of this intense and surreal experience. Once St. Augustine finally converts, the
complexities of his troubles seemingly dissipate. The reader is left with the understanding that all of
St. Augustine s troubles ( the shadows of doubt ) could have easily been resolved had he been more
simple minded by having had faith ( the light of relief ) earlier in his life. In Dante s Inferno, the
reader witnesses Dante undergo his journey through the nine circles

The Case Against Legalized Gambling Essay
The gambling industry is a big money maker in America. Gambling institutions exist in many states.
These institutions consist of riverboat casinos, Indian reservation casinos, and regular gaming casinos
that all accumulate millions of dollars to the state through taxes. This tax money is then used
throughout the state for many programs that may include education, health, and road maintenance.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) even claims that gambling institutions lower the taxes in
many areas because of the large tax money they give the government (CQ 784). But does the
gambling industry only help and build the economy and attract money from the public? Perhaps the
gambling industry increases more than just government funds. Is it ... Show more content on

The issues of crime and compulsive gambling go hand in hand. It is not just an issue that could exist,
but indeed it does exist. In Maryland alone in 1990, there were at least 50,000 compulsive gamblers
(CQ 782). Doctor Valerie C. Lorenz, Executive Director of the Compulsive Gambling Center, has
done several studies on compulsive gambling, and has given several statistics which show how
compulsive gambling is closely related to crime. Her studies show that 99 percent of compulsive
gamblers commit crimes, 25 percent end up in the legal system for bad checks, forgery, fraud,
embezzlement from job, theft, bank robbery, selling drugs, street crime, and prostitution etc..., and 100
percent of compulsive gamblers become physically abusive, especially towards children (Kindt).
These facts clearly show that compulsive gamblers suffer legal and financial problems which drive
them to commit crimes. The American Gaming Industry disagrees with the idea that there are a
significant number of compulsive gamblers. They believe that the vast majority of Americans are
social gamblers who can participate in gambling activities without harmful effects (CQ 784). This
statement may be true. Doctor Lorenz did indeed state that only 1 1/2 to 3 percent of the population in
a state with two or more forms of legalized gambling will become compulsive gamblers, but as was
already stated above there are 50,000 compulsive gamblers in Maryland (http). That high number of

Comparing Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
The Metamorphosis and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Franz Kafka, and Robert
Louis Stevenson respectively, center around two protagonists who encounter some physical and
mental transformations, and confusion of identities. While Kafka s novella shows the innocence and
noble traits hidden in Gregor Samsa, Stevenson s novella suggests that Dr. Jekyll is motivated by the
darkness of his soul. Both protagonists escape their realities through transformations, in which Dr.
Jekyll seeks to find an exit from the judgment of society , and Samsa desires a life that does not take
away his individuality.
Although Dr. Jekyll owns an evil dark spirit, and is motivated by immoral deeds, Gregor Samsa owns
a soul of purity and desires ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, Dr. Jekyll aims escape the oppressions and judgments he faces through a transformation
using Science and drugs. Gregor Samsa s life before the transformation does not seem to flow
according to what he fancies. Samsa goes with a lifestyle that is quite demanding, in which he
travel[s] day in and day out ( Kafka 1) doing strenuous ( Kafka 1) business that [requires] effort (
Kafka 1) to g[e]t the money together to pay off [his] parents debt ( Kafka 2). In addition, his job is like
a curse ( Kafka 1) that can go to hell ( Kafka 1). This shows that his job is taking away his enjoyable
life, making him feel like he is not a human. The fact that Gregor feels that way indicates that he is
certainly living the life of a vermin. Even though Gregor aims to help his family through their tough
times, however, the members of the family do not treat him fairly. Gregor s father desires to knock
Gregor back into his room ( Kafka 7), his mother faints to see him, and she agrees that Gregor is is
[not] well ( Kafka 4). All of the family s behaviors show that Gregor, indeed, is being treated as an
insect and getting exposed to the loss of his individuality. Thus, his reality is dehumanizing him
making him a vermin. Likewise, Dr.Jekyll is exposed to a judgemental society, which he makes sure
to escape through a transformation. Dr. Jeckyll desires to conceal [his]

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Refugees The issue of refugees heated up when President Donald Trump became president. He is totally against of letting refugees into the United States. As most people who aren t refugees don t really care what he does, but people who are refugees would have a different story. The UN has never really had any issues towards refugees until Donald Trump had became president. The growth of refugees has increased because of war, being discarded from the country, or not following the right religion. Historically we have let many refugees come into our country in the past. According to The Washington Post, global displacement levels declined to a historic low in 2005 but started escalating again because of a series of conflicts, including the U.S. invasion of Iraq. By mid 2015, the total number of refugees and internally displaced people had climbed to an all time high of more than 60 million people, the UNHCR estimates reflecting both the masses of people newly uprooted from war torn regions of Syria and South Sudan, as well as those displaced years ago from places like Pakistan and Afghanistan who still haven t been able to return home. So throughout the history, many refugees have been fleeing their countries but letting refugees into the United States, it could cause a lot of problems like it would cost the UN more money, there are billions of refugees why not help them all, and there could be terrorist in the group. What this evidence suggests is that this is a very significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of My Experience At A College Band Camp Have you ever spent a week at a college band camp? Unfortunately, it does not resemble the iconic scene from the classic film, American Pie. This narrative depicts why I decided to attend Southwestern rather than other colleges such as Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, and Wichita State University. My fellow band friends and I took a three hour journey to Weatherford from Blackwell to attend the Southwestern Band Camp for four days. As soon as we reached our destination, I realized that this was where I wanted to be. When I stepped out of the cramped car, a cool breeze blew across my face. On this ninety four degree mid summer day, band kids were walking aimlessly trying to find the correct building to go to. As for myself, I knew exactly where to go. Check in was at 1PM in the Oklahoma Hall and luckily for us, I had scoped out the campus on Google maps to try and figure everything out. I knew once we exited the car that we needed to cross the street and head towards the building that looked like an x . Once we had checked in and placed our suitcases placed in the assigned dorms, we got our instruments out and headed towards the Fine Arts building. Auditions were separated by the type of instrument you played. Unfortunately, I had to separate from my friends since I played the bass clarinet and they played the saxophone. I had lost my way several times. Students were pacing the hallways and loud jabber between fellow instrumentalists about the etude could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sarah McHam, wrote in her article titled Donatello s Bronze David and Judith as Metaphors of Medici Rule in Florence the power of Donatello s bronze sculptures and how they signaled a start for Florence during the Medici s Rule. The main argument of this article focuses on the iconography and symbolism used in Donatello s David , and Judith and Holofernes. Both are bronze and commissioned by the Medici family and located near each other. Both don t have much in common outside of their placement and the idea of using old Greek and Roman poses, and the idea of a hero and placing it in modern times. Another concept is the inspiration for Judith might have been through a story titles Policraticus which emphasis murder and how powerful that sculpture was in presenting that concept. There was no real evidence used that was quoted out, or presented to us as someone else s ideas. McHam used all her own work and vision only relying on John of Salibury s Policraticus to explain a possible connection and motivation for Judith. Imagine being in a refugee or asylum seekers shoes , imagine being sexually abused or living in a poor, unhealthy environment, you d want to come to Australia to wouldn t you? Small Loans for Bad Credit Are Exempt from Alabama s Rate Cap The Smalls Loans Act of Alabama went into effect in 1959 according to Banking.alabama.gov. The law capped interest rates for all loans to prevent usury. The bill recognized that small loans for bad credit including those under $749 couldn t be made profitably at single digit interest rates. Since it was impractical for these loans to be banned by law, the state decided to make a regulatory exception for these lenders. The state s lawmakers felt that borrowers would always need small loans, and banning them would only make consumers turn to riskier finance schemes such as borrowing from unscrupulous lenders and organized criminals. The state now permits these lenders to make reasonable profits by charging higher interest rates to allow lenders who meet the conditions of this chapter a rate of charge sufficiently high to permit a business profit. Although he sat high upon his chair behind his raised bench, the lighting around him was dim, providing a sense of anonymity. To his right, a collection of citizens, too, sat shrouded in anonymity. Several feet across from the judge, Odette Bordeaux pushed her chair out from behind the small desk from where she had been placed. The wooden legs of the chair scratched abrasively against the warped wooden floor causing an earsplitting screech that bounced around the room, magnifying the sound until it reached a crescendo and then slowly dissipated. She was highlighted in a strong light that shined down from the ceiling, exposing her to the jury and judge. Aged in her mid 40s, with chestnut hair pinned neatly into a bun on the back of her head, Odette stood with the composure of a lone leaf in a stout fall wind. Her hands, thin but calloused, trembled involuntarily, so she balled them up and placed them behind her back. In the Crucible, a group of girls tell lies and act be switched to accuse people they dislike. They act as if the convicted are Satan followers, knowing that the highly religious villagers would do anything to rid of evil. It goes hand in hand with judgment, we see something or hear something we don t like, and automatically have a whole idea about that person. Judgement is always present. Day to day can see at least one person, or maybe even yourself=ves, making decisions or judgments purely based on say, religion, gender, race, sexual orientations, and so on and so forth. The accusations of today s world are just like the ones from the groups of the girls we see in the Crucible. Everything in the Puritan society of the Crucible has to do with religious intolerance and bigotry. As soon as John Proctor admitted to adultery, people had a change of hearts for the convicted, but it all changed with what followed. Because adultery was seen as being of the devil, he was risking everything. As seen in the Crucible, the black servant, Tituba was automatically thought to have to do with the witch crafting because of her cultural background and ethnicity, which made it easier for the girls to accuse her and have her thrown into jail. ... Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report Amanda Raper Reviewed by: Cheyenne Mathes April 2, 2015 Forensic Science Analysis Lab Report #3 Physical Processing Techniques Lab Report BACKGROUND In the forensic science field, A Latent Print is an impression of the friction ridge skin of the fingers or palms of the hands that has been transferred to another surface. To break apart the phrase, latent print , the term latent , means hidden and the term print means an indentation or mark left on a surface or soft substance by pressure especially that of a foot or hand. So the phrase latent prints , refers to any print that must be enhanced chemically or physically to be made visible. Another way to define latent print , is simply sweat that is exuded from the body. Friction ridge skin is the only part of the body that doesn t exude oil. The only oil that may be in a latent print has been picked up by touching another area of the body (face or ears for example) or some foreign object. In 1863, Professor Paul Jean Coulier, published his observations that latent prints can be developed on paper by iodine fuming and how to preserve the impressions. However, with the discovery of latent print process in 1863, the first official use of latent prints wasn t until 1933 with the Hamm Kidnapping case. Ethical Issues Surrounding Genetic Screening and Genetic Engineering In today s modern age science is moving at a rapid pace; one of those scientific fields that has taken the largest leaps is that of genetics. When genetics first comes to mind, many of us think of it as a type of science fiction, or a mystical dream. Yet genetics is here, it is real, and has numerous ethical implications. One of the particular areas of interest is prenatal genetics. In this field, many new and outstanding innovations have been made. A mother and father can now check for a large array of disorders that could occur in their child; sexual preference has now been shifted from the hands of a higher being to that of someone with a Ph.D.; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this brave new field, there have been many steps and strides taken of which we could have never imagined. For instance, before a mother and father decided to carry out the process of having offspring, they can visit a genetic clinic to figure out if their child is likely to have certain illnesses. A list of such illnesses are: Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, dwarfism, breast cancer (susceptibility to), fragile X syndrome, Huntington s Disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and various types of nervous system degeneration (Golden 51). These are only a few of the nearly 40 types of disorders that can be determined by genetic testing. It may be rather nice to know that a child does not have a genetic disease, but what does a couple do if the results of a genetic test are returned with negative results? Also, if the information from the test is ambiguous the couple might decide not to carry out the pregnancy due to risk. In a 1999 article written by Frederic Golden, he questions if the child should be brought into the world ...in hopes that a cruel disease can be managed or cured... or if the fetus should be aborted. He also poses the question of insurance coverage. This might seem like a rather odd comment to make. Insurance is insurance isn t it? And for the most part we all have it. Yet this brings us into another issue about genetics, privacy. Our genetic code is consistent throughout our entire lives. It is who we are. Will insurance coverage be available ... • 24. The Common Sexually Transmitted Infections Essay HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). This might be the reason why the pharmaceutical company Merck Co. has invested time on making sure that the country is aware of HPV. Merck Co has a few commercial about HPV and getting vaccinated. As a matter of fact the most sexual active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. People have known about the Human Papillomavirus since 1956 because a group of scientist discovered it. However, it was not until 1984 that a German Professor by the name of Dr. Harald Zur Hausen put the connection together that HPV and cancer coincide with one another. Since HPV is a STI the common way of contracting it is by having vaginal , anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. HPV can be passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms. Because HPV often has no signs or symptoms, males and females can get the virus without knowing it and then pass it on. Anyone who is sexually active can get HPV, even if you have had sex with only one person. You also can develop symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you first became infected. There are a few HPV vaccines licensed in the United States. All HPV vaccines are administered as a 3 dose series of injections that is given deep into the muscles over a 6 month period. These vaccines are safe and effective. The first dose ... This program represented the hopes of one nation and the fears of another. The middle of the 20th century the United States and the Soviet Union were locked in a battle to see who could get to the moon first known as the space race. This race was intensified by the cold war that was going on between the two countries at the time as well. The Apollo program first began in 1961 because of the Soviet Union and very quickly became the backbone for the space program (CSN website). It was a capsule that had room for up to three men. The men would ride in the Command module to the moon and back. The vehicle that was used for landing on the moon was the lunar module, which carried the astronauts from the orbit around the moon to the surface of the moon and back to the Command Module (NASA website). In the Apollo program, there were two types of rockets that were developed to get to the moon from earth. The first flights of the Apollo Program utilized a smaller vehicle known as the Saturn 1 B rocket (Nasa website). This rocket was 22 stories tall and had two stages. The device used to measure these properties is called a spectrophotometer. This device consists of a spectrometer that produces light of any color (wavelength), and a photometer which measures the intensity of the light.2 In this experiment serial dilutions will be performed and from this, calibration curves will be produced. Four solutions with different concentrations were created with the B4 solution containing 10mL. The C1V1=C2V2 formula was utilized again to calculate the new concentrations and the corresponding values were recorded. Eight standard solutions were tested using a cuvette and a spectrophotometer. Two spectra were ultimately saved, one for the Red 40 and one for the Blue 1. 3mL of a standard solution was added to a cuvette and was prepared for data collection. Enough solution was added to obtain viable results. The cuvette was placed in the SpectroVis accordingly. The absorbance of the sample was recorded from 380 900nm, and the wavelength of maximum absorbency was determined along with the absorbance at the λmax. These steps were repeated to determine the λmax and absorbance for each of the eight standard solutions. The results were recorded and the spectrum was saved. Part C was performed using prepared drink samples of Kool AidTM. The absorbance of each sample was determined at the two average λmax wavelengths that were previously found in Part B. The recorded absorbencies were made sure to fall in the respective absorbance values of the standard solutions. These two men, while friends, are quite different one being a bad role model, and the other being a good one. Romeo, although a romantic and very lovable character, is not a good role model for various reasons. In many times of trouble instead of looking for a solution to a problem, Romeo will simply sit around and pout about it. In the beginning of the play, we know that Romeo was crying for Rosaline because she was supposedly the most beautiful girl in the world and his love for her was unrequited. Another time we see this is when he is banished for killing Tybalt and goes to Friar Laurence and does nothing but cry. Romeo can also be seen as hasty. He doesn t think throughwhat he does, and this could likely be because he is a romantic. William Blake was an English writer from London who had very strong Christian beliefs that influenced his writings. Many of Blake s poems had to do with his beliefs and views of God and Jesus. He published two famous book called Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experiences , where he describes life in the eyes of the innocent and of the experienced. In 1789 Blake published The Lamb in Songs of Innocence. I was very pleased when I first read The Lamb because it was an easy poem that just gives you a relaxing feeling. It also relates to many of my personal views of God and his son Jesus Christ. A sonnet is a poem made of 14 lines, The Lamb is made of only 20 lines. The Lamb is organized into two stanzas. The first stanza starts with Little Lamb, who made thee? and ends with Dost thou Know who made thee? . The second stanza begins with Little Lamb, I ll tell thee and concludes with Little Lamb, God bless thee! . The two stanzas are important because the first stanza asks a question about who created the lamb and in the second stanza it give the response that God created the lamb. This poem does rhyme and has a rhyme scheme of AA BB CC. AA is represented with thee and thee, BB is feed and mead, and CC is delight and bright. William Blake often uses the pronoun thee and thou meaning you. By using the word, thee and thy (you and your) it shows that Blake intended to write the poem in second point of view. ... • 42. The Case Against Legalized Gambling Essay The gambling industry is a big money maker in America. Gambling institutions exist in many states. These institutions consist of riverboat casinos, Indian reservation casinos, and regular gaming casinos that all accumulate millions of dollars to the state through taxes. This tax money is then used throughout the state for many programs that may include education, health, and road maintenance. The American Gaming Association (AGA) even claims that gambling institutions lower the taxes in many areas because of the large tax money they give the government (CQ 784). Lorenz, Executive Director of the Compulsive Gambling Center, has done several studies on compulsive gambling, and has given several statistics which show how compulsive gambling is closely related to crime. Her studies show that 99 percent of compulsive gamblers commit crimes, 25 percent end up in the legal system for bad checks, forgery, fraud, embezzlement from job, theft, bank robbery, selling drugs, street crime, and prostitution etc..., and 100 percent of compulsive gamblers become physically abusive, especially towards children (Kindt). Comparing Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde The Metamorphosis and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Franz Kafka, and Robert Louis Stevenson respectively, center around two protagonists who encounter some physical and mental transformations, and confusion of identities. While Kafka s novella shows the innocence and noble traits hidden in Gregor Samsa, Stevenson s novella suggests that Dr. Jekyll is motivated by the darkness of his soul. Both protagonists escape their realities through transformations, in which Dr. Jekyll seeks to find an exit from the judgment of society , and Samsa desires a life that does not take away his individuality. Although Dr. Jekyll owns an evil dark spirit, and is motivated by immoral deeds, Gregor Samsa owns a soul of purity and desires ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, Dr. Jekyll aims escape the oppressions and judgments he faces through a transformation using Science and drugs. Gregor Samsa s life before the transformation does not seem to flow according to what he fancies. In addition, his job is like a curse ( Kafka 1) that can go to hell ( Kafka 1). This shows that his job is taking away his enjoyable life, making him feel like he is not a human. The fact that Gregor feels that way indicates that he is certainly living the life of a vermin. Even though Gregor aims to help his family through their tough times, however, the members of the family do not treat him fairly. Gregor s father desires to knock Gregor back into his room ( Kafka 7), his mother faints to see him, and she agrees that Gregor is is [not] well ( Kafka 4). All of the family s behaviors show that Gregor, indeed, is being treated as an insect and getting exposed to the loss of his individuality. Thus, his reality is dehumanizing him making him a vermin.
