Essay Industrial Revolution
Writing an essay on the topic of the Industrial Revolution can be quite challenging due to the
vast scope and complexity of the subject matter. It requires extensive research to understand the
various aspects of the Industrial Revolution, including its causes, effects, key players,
technological advancements, social impacts, and global consequences.
One of the difficulties lies in organizing the information in a coherent and structured manner, as
the Industrial Revolution encompasses a wide range of topics spanning economics, politics,
sociology, history, and technology. It requires critical analysis and synthesis of information from
diverse sources to present a comprehensive and insightful essay.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling thesis statement that captures the essence of the Industrial
Revolution while offering a unique perspective or argument adds another layer of complexity to
the writing process. It requires careful thought and consideration to develop a thesis that is both
original and well-supported by evidence.
Additionally, addressing the various interpretations and debates surrounding the Industrial
Revolution can be challenging, as historians and scholars often have differing viewpoints on its
causes, outcomes, and significance. Navigating through these conflicting perspectives while
maintaining objectivity and academic rigor requires analytical skills and scholarly discernment.
Moreover, conveying the significance and relevance of the Industrial Revolution in today's
context presents its own set of challenges. It requires connecting historical events and
developments to contemporary issues and trends, illustrating how the legacy of the Industrial
Revolution continues to shape our world today.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the Industrial Revolution demands extensive research, critical
thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize complex information into a coherent and
compelling argument. It is a challenging task that requires dedication, diligence, and a thorough
understanding of the subject matter.

Last of the Mohicans Movie Review Essay example
The last of the Mohicans review The last of the Mohicans was a movie that really
appealed to me from the beginning because of the heroism and the action into it.
The main characters in this movie were Daniel day Lewis as Nathanial Poe
(Hawkeye) and Madeline Stowe as Cora Munro. The movie could be described as
a romantic action like a Spiderman or a superman movie always needs the girl to
give motivation to the main character but it is a historical drama. The movie was
112 minutes long, it contains three languages English, French and Mohawk, it was
filmed in the USA, it was released in September 1992 and its tagline was the first
American hero, it is also based on the novel of James Fennimore cooper. It is about

Natives in this movie are seen as weaklings and they were only used for their
cunning fighting strategies and also their resources like food and homes, the
French and British did not care about the natives they only cared about how they
could get more land and more powerful, although the natives allied with the French
or the British they still disliked them for what they were doing to their homes and
culture. The movie does not harm the native s picture to the world because they
were the ones who were weak and hurt in the movie it gave people something to
think about like how the English and French could do this to the natives and what
are the consequences of the actions that were taken by the French or the British.
The movie also gives the feeling of sympathy towards the natives and fills you up
with hatred towards the Europeans who invaded the natives land. The movie also
shows us the way the natives dressed which were just long pieces of cloths and
leather pants which were cut off at the crouch for a relaxed fit, also the way they ate
which was hunting deer and elk and gathering berries and vegetables, it also showed
their language and a little spiritual scenes when they shot an elk. It gave me anal
Man On Wire, By James Marsh
Man on wire which was set in 1947 directed by James Marsh about a french high
wire artist Philippe Petit who is fascinated by New Yorks trade Centre where he has
strung a six metre tight rope between the twin tires and walked across it without any
fear. The documentary is about Petit s daring attempt, the aftermath and about his
friends and the people who helped him achieve his life goals. Some consider it the
artistic crime of the century The director has used many techniques to captivate
audiences making us feel like we are apart of this incredible story. Techniques such as
Interviews and archival footage.
One of the most widely used documentary techniques is interviews. Interviews
reflect opinions from different viewpoints creating an almost 3 dimensional story.
Its helps the audience feel more engaged as it is coming from a person s point of
view who was involved in the events making it feel more realistic. The audience can
be assured that the story is not made up. Interviews give a sense of realism. Man on
wire is a good example of the interview style being used to reflect feelings of the
time Petit was on his way to making his dream come a reality. The emotions at
some point were exaggerating maybe because he is a performer. But this made us as
viewers feel apart of the film being able to sympathize with the characters and
storyline. Marsh uses a technique where we see the subject talking on screen but we
do not hear the interviewer talking or asking questions.
Drug Conhibition And Drug Prohibition In The United
States
Alcohol didn t cause the high crime rate of the 20s and 30s, prohibition did. And
drugs do not cause today s alarming crime rates, but drug prohibition does (
Badnarik). Although Congress had great intentions by banning alcohol and drugs, it
made living in America that much more difficult. The passage of the 18th amendment
contributed to the rise of illegal activities carried out by organized crimesyndicates.
The 18th amendment states After one year from the ratification of this article the
manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation
thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory
subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited. The
Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article
by appropriate legislation. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have
been ratified as an amendment to the constitution by the legislatures of the several
states, as provided in the constitution, within seven years from the date of the
submission hereof to the States by the Congress (Grossman 469 ). After this was
ratified on January 16, 1919, it was going to create a problem that no one saw
coming with full force. This was the first and part amendment that was used to try
to get rid of a product and also it was the only one to be repealed so far. The
Volstead Act is what shifted Congress opinion and it states, An act to prohibit

Field Trip Assignment For my field trip I went to the Richard Nixon Library in
Yorba Linda. I actually live right down the street and yet have never taken a trip
there. This place is a library and a museum. It was so interesting to walk through,
looking at all of the history that was made there. The three things that I valued the
most form this experience was the Birthplace, the Presidential Helicopter, and the
East Room. Considering Nixon did grow up in that house that is located at the scene,
it was very impressive to see that the house was still standing. The helicopter was also
located at this exhibit that Richard Nixon along with other Presidents that have
physically sat and road in it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I actually got to go in the Helicopter, which was very cool. This helicopter was used
by President Nixon, Ford, Johnson, and Kennedy. This helicopter seats 16 people
and cost a million dollars to put together in 1960. This helicopter was known as
either Marine One or Army one, depending on who was controlling it at the time. It
was said that President Nixon used it more then 160 times and one of those times
was when he took it over seas for the Summit meeting with President Sadat in
Egypt. One of the most famous trips was when he took that helicopter to a military
base after he resigned. This helicopter was brought from the White house in 1976
and was used for secret service. Then it was installed in the library grounds in
2006. This helicopter is so unique and interesting. When I got to walk through it, it
was fascinating to see the assigned seats for the president and his crew. Also
something striking was that they were able to smoke in this helicopter back in the
day, so there were ashtrays. This helicopter is such a valuable symbol for President

is that Michael Johnson. He beat Michaels 200 hundred meter record which he was

Why Composting Pick Up Isn t Available, Money Can Still...
Where composting pick up isn t available, money can still be saved. In Rhode Island,
Johnson and Wales University s culinary school invested in a high tech composting
machine in their kitchen. Although the initial investment was substantial, the
university is already saving money. Specifically, they expect for the machine to pay
for itself in 5 years because they don t send trash to Rhode Island Central Landfill
(Luebsdorf).
Even in big cities where composting plants are accessible, many believe there is no
demand for the final product of composting. At this time, most of the U.S.
composting plants are small. Although in some regions, the composting industry is
gaining popularity and interest from many investors across the nation. Marketing
development, higher procurement participation rate programs, and economic
incentives are all being implemented to help persuade composting. The state of
Connecticut is currently offering six million dollars in loans or grants to the
composting industry (Platt 9). Some even believe the demand for compost will
increase so much, regulatory action and mandates will be unneeded. But until then,
any food waste landfills bans and other composting requirements have to be
considered (Leubsdorf).
In the meantime, in locations where commercial composting operations are
unavailable, local composting is still viable for most of the food service industry.
Especially when food waste is at a manageable level, a composting pile can be

Jerry Bock s Fiddler On The Roof
Fiddler on the roof Fiddler on the Roof is a musical by Jerry Bock, lyrics by
Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in Tsarist Russia in 1905. It is
based on Tevye and his Daughters. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five
daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions
while outside influences intrude upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong
willed actions of his three older daughters each one s choice of husband moves
further away from the customs of her faith and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts
the Jews from their village. I want to talk about a few of my favorite scenes. When
Tevye invites Perchick to stay with them, the night Tevye goes out to drink with
Lazer Wolf, when Tevye excepts Motel and the dream.

Change away from those traditions is in the air, which is confirmed by Perchik, a

The Pros And Cons Of The Keystone Pipeline

know why, it s because this is how our future will look like if we have nothing
efficient enough to transport the oil that we use in almost everything to
us.Therefore we believe the U.S should build the Keystone Pipeline XL because
doing so will provide more jobs and increase tax revenue, oil is extremely essential
for daily life and the keystone will help to transport our oil easier and safer.
The Keystone Pipeline will provide jobs for the U.S. Since the Keystone Pipeline
requires a lot of help and work to be done, that means it will require a lot of
workers to help build it. If we do complete the keystone pipeline xl there is an
estimated 138.4 million in annual property tax. That money can be used for schools
churches and activity centers which therefore will create more jobs. Another

Detail How Leiser Questions the Moral Condemnation of...
Unnatural More Than One Meaning? There are those words that have more than one
way to be spelled, have more than one definition, and have more than one meaning.
The word second can mean something that is right after the first, or it can be a unit of
telling time. The word unnatural is a similar word. It has different meanings, but the
meanings are also related. Burton Leiser questions the way unnatural is used when he
hears people say that homosexual intercourse is unnatural. Views on homosexuality
were based on Christianity, which views homosexuality as unnatural, a violation of
natural law, immoral, and condemnable. When we use the word natural , we have to
deal with how ambiguous it is. In nature, it can either mean one of... Show more

I have been told that I look like a duck or an ostrich when I run, but that doesn t
give a reason for me to be condemned. Some uncommon or abnormal traits can be
praised because they are so unique. Some people are good at cooking and some
people aren t good at cooking, which benefits a lot of people because people can
enjoy good food without having to deal with their lack of cooking skills. I
definitely would not condemn a person who knows how to make a good steak, or
even a good wine. If unnatural is used in this sense, then homosexuality can t be
condemned. The fourth argument on if homosexuality is unnatural is based on
how any use of an organ or an instrument that is different from its main use can be
seen as unnatural. Every organ in the body and every tool or instrument is
designed to do a certain task. Sometimes, if a tool is used in a certain way, that is
different to its original use, it can be improper, and even harmful. Keys are used to
unlock doors, unlock padlocks, and start cars, but some people use keys to cut
through plastic containers. Keys are not designed for cutting, and if a person is not
careful, that person can cut or stab him or herself in the process. People know that
the main purpose for sex organs is to reproduce and to create more of their own kind.
No other organs in the body have the ability to reproduce. Any other use of the sex
organs, such as homosexual behavior, and even masturbation, can be seen as
unnatural.
Speech About Mao s Last Dancer
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, today we will celebrate the life of an
individual who achieved the impossible through perseverance and mental strength.
Also, I will convince you why the film Mao s Last Dancer MUST be screened at
this year s film festival. Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, In the truest sense, freedom
cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved. This insightful quote ultimately embodies
the notion of working hard for your freedom instead of waiting for it. So, precisely,
one will only have the strength to gain freedom by persevering throughout life s
obstacles and hardships. Li Cunxindid not expect freedom to arrive at his doorstep;
he was acutely aware that freedom and success are born from hard work; he suffered
through blood, sweat and tears throughout his whole journey to earn his freedom.
Li s ruthless childhood experiences taught him to persevere through difficult times.
Throughout his life, he had tolerated some enjoyable events like playing in the
snow with his brothers, yet some draining events like discovering that his Niang
fainted whilst on her trip to the dam. Li s Niang was his number one supporter. She
continually gave him tough love and encouraged him to take this chance to escape
from this cruel world. (and) Go, and do something special with your (his) life!
(p.96). The world of poverty was tough to escape but Li s mental strength assisted
him into doing so. If it weren t for his Niang, he would not be where he is today.

Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris s vein begins but so does the nightmare.
It s April 20, 1999 an ordinary Tuesday morning at columbine high school. In about
two weeks approximately 300 seniors will be graduating and perhaps attending
college. For many students this means that they will be moving to a different
chapter in their lives, and the beginning of a new life and life journey however for
many students these goals won t be accomplished. On this particular Tuesday
morning several students lives will unfortunately end in tragedy. Students today will
head about their day as usual but two seniors, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris will be
very vengeful and will not allow anything to get in their path.
Their highly anticipated nightmare to which they refer to as a dream will come to
a reality and end with the lives of 12 students and 1 teacher. How far will two
bullied teenagers seeking for revenge go? Well just enough to end their own lives.
As the first lunch period begins students rush in, the lunchroom will be seating
about 500 students and also those who will decide to eat outside since columbine
has open campus lunch. Many students will also head to different classrooms to get
work done or study, such ideal place like the library, where most of the fatalities took

Elizabeth Barret Browning Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was a plain woman of the Victorian Era that was most
remarkably gifted. She was destined to become known to the world (Preston xi).
Elizabeth Barrett Browning became known for her poetry, because she showed
marriages were her women character were often left emotionally unstable.
In her book Recollections, Browning describes what poetry means to herself. She
explained that it became a distinct object with me; an object to read, think, and live
for (Preston xii). Browning was described as a strong woman poet who had little to no
training. She came from the Italian hills into a prim English feminine household, and

Leighton describes Browning s expressions as fulsome and yet witty energy, which
flirts and skirmishes with the inherited convection s of the love sonnet (106). The
poem Casa Guidi Windows takes place in Italy and Leighton describes it as a
discursive poem and addresses perfection and let downs of the Italian Risorgimento
(106). The political poem shows Browning at her most passionately cosmopolitan,
and as a poet (Leighton 106). This poem let the critics see that Browning was an
accomplished poet. Along with her theme of love Browning showed in Casa Guidi
Windows the intractable issues of papal power, British imperialism, and nationalistic
mythologizing into a strong and musical poetry (Leighton 106).
The last great work of Browning s life was the poem Aurora Leigh . Oliphant
believes the most amazing accomplishment in Aurora Leigh is it s energy and
strong poetically vitality (1). While Browning was finishing this piece of work she
was staying in the house of her cousin, John Kenyon. John Kenyon died a few
weeks after Browning dedicated Aurora Leigh to him. The death reflected upon the
work of Aurora Leigh (Preston xvi). Browning also noted at the beginning of Aurora
Leigh that the last pages have been finished under the hospitality of your [John] roof,
my dearest cousin and friend , and many of the qualities of her cousin John can be
found in the character of Romney (254).

Analysis Of Dostoevsky And Kierkegaard s The Grand...
What does it mean to have faith? This is not a question of, do you believe in the
teachings of your religion, but what is a true believer. Dostoevsky and Kierkegaard
are two philosophers that extensively delved with great contemplation and
introspection of what it means to be a Christian. Both of these philosophers took a
critical microscope to the typical Christian teachings of how to be a good Christian.
What both of these philosophers eventually deduced is that the traditional teachings
of Christianity remove the person from from ever truly finding the meaning behind
their faith; thus separating the devoted from the divine. For both Dostoevsky and
Kierkegaard, to be a Christian is more than going through the motions of what the
church leaders tell you, but to find out for oneself why they ultimately believe. To
convey his notions, Ivan, the main character of Dostoevsky s story, creates the
character the Grand Inquisitor. The Grand Inquisitor is symbolic of the catholic
church and the control they hold over the followers of Catholicism. In this story, the
Grand Inquisitor is faced with Jesus Christ, whom has come back to earth for the
second coming. In on particular instance, The Inquisitor challenges Christ by saying,
Didst Thou forget that man prefers peace, and even death, to freedom of choice in
the knowledge of good and evil? Nothing is more seductive for man than his
freedom of conscience, but nothing is a greater cause of suffering (Dostoevsky, pg

Since the world began man has been obsessed with finding a source of energy that

talking about oil the black substance made from millions of years of decomposition
of animals and plants. The pressure and time eventually transforms dead organisms
into an energy that can be used to power automobiles, lights, boats, construction
equipment, and the list goes on and on. With all of the oil that our wonderful earth

Captivity And Restoration Of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson
A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson by Mary
Rowlandson is a primary example of the sectionalism of Puritans, and more
specifically, Puritan women. Rowlandson recounts the attack on her home by the
Wampanoag tribe as well as the aftermath of her eventual capture. Being certain to
record the removes, or days spent traveling with her captors, Rowlandson created a
record of her travels with her captors as well as preserved her own womanhood from
the accusations of her own people. The time of Puritan colonies was one in which
male preachers held the most power. Preachers received more education than most of
the population and their status as males provided them an unquestionable position of
power in Puritan society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This restriction of interests is clearly displayed in the captivity narrative of Mrs.
Rowlandson. One example of this is her specific detail regarding her sleeping
situation and detailing of anything involving her body or emotion. As mentioned
above, Puritans placed a great deal of emphasis on the chastity of a woman,
meaning that Rowlandson was compelled to record everything that happened to
her in order to protect herself and her chastity by including her womanly feelings
such as her grief from having her child killed and having to leave her family
behind. Another example of sectionalism within the narrative can be found in
Rowlandson s account of the specific locations that she traveled to and the culture
of the people that she was with. She frequently mentions locations of Indian towns
and the barbaric behavior of the people living in them in order to both provide
details concerning the land around her home and to create a significant divide
between herself and the immoral group she was with. Finally, Mrs. Rowlandson
was able to display Puritan sectionalism by killing her captors and returning to her
family. As odd as it was for Mary to kill the Indians with brutality akin to that
exhibited by the natives, her actions were seen as justified and actually glorified by
the Puritans after her eventual return and
Prevent Identity Theft
Identity theft is a growing problem and happens when someone else uses your
information/identity as if it were their own. It s a serious crime that can damage your

it takes 600 hours to restore your identity after a theft has taken place. This means
your best bet is prevention.
There are two primary actions that you should take:

in recovery rooms to ensure that post operative patients, who often wake up in
physiologically fragile states, will be expertly and continuously supervised.
Basic Responsibilities
Post operative nurses have two basic responsibilities: transfer and monitor patients
after surgeries. After surgeries, post operative nurses assess the patient s condition
and determine if they are able to be moved to the post anesthesia care unit (PACU).
If the vital signs are instable or if the surgical team encounters problems, the patient
may need to remain in the operating room. Once the doctor determines that the
patient can safely be moved, they will be transferred to the PACU for continued care
under the watchful eyes of a post operative nurse. There, patients will be carefully
monitored when they wake up, so they will know what is going on. Post operative
nurses ensure that patients stay comfortable while they monitor their vitals and
deliver pain medications.

Introduction. In Term Three Of The Practical Nursing
Program
Introduction In term three of the practical nursing program we started our first
placement in a hospital setting. During the second week of placement we went out
onto our assignment floors and got to shadow a nurse. That morning I went to see
all of the patients that my nurse had for the day to introduce myself and tell them
if they need anything to let me know. One of the patients that morning was crying,
so I had went up to her asked what was wrong, her response was I have been sitting
in my own stool since 6am, I rang my call bell and no one has came . This type of
situation was a moral dilemma, the patient is unable to change her own brief and the
nursewas not nearby to do so. As a student nurse I was unable to do a bed bath and...

A brief is suppose to be changed at least 5 8 times a day or immediately after it s
been soiled. After a brief change it is important to clean the area properly to
prevent any infections. A urinary tract infection can occur if a patient stays in
their soiled brief for an extended amount of time or if they are not cleansed
properly. Another consequence with having a soiled brief is that you could be at
risk for skin breakdown. As stated Too much moisture over hydrates the skin,
making it weak and more sensitive to friction, shear and breakdown (think about
being in the tub or pool for a long time). Primary sources of excess skin moisture
include sweating, bowel and bladder accidents, and drainage from wounds (Skin
Health: Prevention and Treatment of Skin Breakdown,2011). Therefore, if a
healthcare provider does not attend to a soiled brief immediately, risk for infection
and skin breakdown will occur.
My personal/ professional values and beliefs In this situation I felt that it
conflicted with me on a personal and professional level, being a student nurse and
also a women. When I first went into the room and seen a patient crying, I wanted
to help but with my qualifications as a student I was not able to. As a women not
being able to change yourself or do anything on your own, takes away your pride
and dignity, making you feel useless and lowers your self esteem. If I had a family
member in the hospital I would hope that the nurses are treating them
How Significant Is R2P In Relation To Human Rights...
R2P has been celebrated as a new international norm. How significant is R2P in
relation to human rights protection?
R2P, identified as the responsibility to protect was firstly established in 2001 and
initially presented in the report of the International Commission on the Intervention
and State Sovereignty (ICISS) A group of retired politicians, diplomats and
humanitarians chaired by former Australian foreign minister Garth Evans, and highly
respected former Algerian diplomat Mohammed Sahnoun (Glanville and IVONNE,

2001 which made tensions between state sovereignty and humanitarian necessity

There were many difficulties which arose as there were many questions which
occurred such as who has the right to authority? to authorize military intervention for
humanitarian purposes? (Heywood, 2011) This is usually referred to the UN security
council, this emphasises on the power in which the security council holds and how
much responsibility they have, to protect and maintain peace and security. Secondly,
Kofi Annan tried to reconcile the tension between sovereignty and human rights, by
arguing that, in a context of globalization and international cooperation s, the state
should be viewed as the servant of people and vice versa (Annan,1999) . Changing
attitudes towards the norm are reflected in the growth in the influence of such
doctrines of intervention as the responsibility to protect is that there is an onus on
the international community to intervene in situations, where the lives of a
country s civilian population are threatened by the actions of government (Guelke,
2012) However, this can be seen as a disadvantages towards responsibility to
protect as stated above people s lives and safety are in the hands of governments
which in some occasions cannot be good, as not all civilians agree with government
verdicts. Finally, Russia is regarded as a weak rival of the west in geo strategic
terms, its capacity to project power remains very limited (Guelke, 2012). Another
example includes; Iraq, they do not follow the human right law, which shows that
they are in need for protection to prevent waste of supreme court time and funding.
Iraq has one of the most corrupt governments in the world, due to lack of human
rights, which is defining the lives of civilians within their country. It is evident that
there is a significant need for the right to protect in countries such as
Analysis of the Film Chost in the Shell Essays
The Science Fiction film Ghost in the Shell is a complex movie, which at times
one may find it difficult to follow. This may be because before this film was
created in 1995 there was a manga series that provided some essential background
knowledge of what was going on and why. Watching the film could be like watching
PokГ©mon movies without watching the series . First, you would be confused as to
why Ash, the main character has a particular interest in re catching Pikachu. But like
most movies you eventually start to get a feel as to what is going on. Ghost in the

Section 9. Major was also very interested in the Puppet Master as she saw a
mirrored self in him. She was so eager to connect with him for the opportunity to
understand where she came from (they were both made by the same company).
The Puppet Master s Plan to receive asylum failed, so he convinced Major to merge
with him as a form of reproduction. They were connected and emerged in to the
same shall right before her own shell was destroyed by section 6. In the final scene
Major was replaced in a little girl s Body and found herself accepting this new
identity of a merged Puppet Master and old Major.
This movie portrays cyborgs as both good for humanity and dangerously bad.
Starting with the Puppet Master being a deadly threat to humans not just violently
but also in other ways. His greater threat he presented was his highly advanced
hacking skills. He had the ability to hack in to people s ghosts, one of the hardest
areas of the brain to reach. He was able to creat fake memories and erase the ones
they originally had. This is more than a physical danger to humanity but a danger to
the integrity of humanity as a whole. Imagine if the hacker decided to hack in to
someone with extreme power, such as the president. The hacker would then be able
to control the country to its violent end.

how radio has changed
Radio has been existing since the 20th century; it has a great significance to every
one of us, especially when it comes to entertainment. Through the years, we depend
on the radio when traveling or relaxing at home, it is where we listen to music,
news or even soap operas. Well the sound quality has increased dramatically. So
has the amount of stations. When radio was first invented there was only
something on the air for a few hours a day, now radio is 24/7. Also, when radio was
first invented, there was no FM. Everything was AM. Then once FM was
introduced people were skeptical that it would catch on. Back then they would sell
either an AM radio, or an FM radio. These days it s a law that every radio must have
AM and FM capabilities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to music, radio stations also played dramatic episodes of programs, such
as Amos n Andy and Superman. Radios also became the preferred method for
communicating the news of the day. While the AM frequency was popular for
broadcasting throughout the 1950s and beyond, researchers began developing the
FM in the 1940s as an alternative to FM. This method became popular during the
1960s and took hold throughout the 1970s. It was more popular than the AM
signal because it could transmit on any frequency. Although its original purpose
was intended for classical music lovers and educational purposes, the FM method
was a favorite for rock music in the 1960s. It wasn t until 1978, however, that the
FM programming had more listeners than the AM. In recent years, radio has made
even more developments that have made listening to your favorite music even
easier. With a simple internet connection, you can listen to streaming audio from
almost any radio station all over the world. A new trend in radio broadcasting is
also the podcast. This is where individuals put together a recording that resembles a
radio show and then post it online for anybody to listen to. In addition to these
developments, there is also the creation of the subscription based radio services.
Sirius and XM radio are not controlled by federal regulations in the same way that
normal airwaves are governed. This gives both listeners and broadcasters more
options to fit their listening pleasure. Made popular

Amazing Grace Analysis
Slavery is involuntary work performed for other for no pay with threat if punishment.
While many believe slavery is a shameful relic of our past, slavery is still an
unfortunate aspect of the world today. Amazing Grace, an acclimated film, chronicles
the lifelong work of British abolitionist William Wilberforce who successfully ended
the slave trade throughout the British empire. The accompanying documentary about
the National Underground Railroad and Freedom Center describes the state of slavery
in the contemporary world. In conjunction, the film and the documentary presents
key differences and similarities between historical and modern slavery in three
essential areas. These three important areas are the work slaves are forced to do, the
demographics of slavery, and the abuse slaves must endure. Work is the primary
driver of the slave market. Simply put, it is both easier and cheaper to enslave others

Short Story Of Sorry Short Stories
I m Sorry Early Sunday morning, my radio turned on, waking me up as my
favourite song was playing. The song ended, and I opened my eyes to find my
room was full of smoke. I heard Grace down the hall screaming bloody murder:
Amber, help! I jumped out of bed and ran down the hall, not aware of my
surroundings. I got to Grace s room; all I could see was Grace lying in a bed that
was on fire. By the time I got to her room, there was no way of saving her. Grace
was engulfed in flames. I stood there for a minute, staring at her, while she looked
back at me as her skin melted away. All I could say was, I m sorry! I turned around
and headed straight back to my room. I thought to myself, I need to get out of here
before I m next. The walls in my room were engulfed in flames; the only way out
was through my window. But, I was on the fourth floor of the apartment building.
All I thought to myself was, Jump. I gathered the courage to jump. Landing, I

Economic Systems And Economic System
Economic system
Economic system is that it consists of those situations which a given people or nation
has nations has chosen or accepted as the means through which resources are utilized
for the satisfaction of human wants. (studylecturenotes.com, 2016)
Economic system allows countries to follow procedure to produce goods using
resources available in the countries. It allows the countries to know how much and
for whom to produce. There are different types of economic systems in different
countries and they all have their different regulations according to their planned
economic system. There are two different types of market: Free Market and Planned
market.
Free market
An economic system in which prices are determined by unrestricted competition
between privately owned businesses (oxforddictionaries.com, 2016)
The free market is the economic system where the government has no or few
restrictions on buying and selling goods from different countries. There are no tariffs
or regulation processes being determined for trades. This is a very good economy to
start a business has it has no interest rate, exchange rate or any force to stop them
exchange their commodities in order to trade with different countries. The free
market allows the individual or group of people running the business to make
decision by themselves and allow that ease to trade with different countries at fair
exchange schemes.

Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own
Missing works cited
In A Room of One s Own, Virginia Woolf ponders the plight of women throughout
history. Woolf reads the lives of women and concludes that if a woman were to have
written she would have had to overcome enormous circumstances (Woolf xi). Woolf s
initial thesis is that a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to
write fiction (Woolf 4). Throughout the book, however, she develops other important
conditions for artistic creation. Woolf mentions many nineteenth century female
writers in order to explain these conditions, but she does not mention Mary

Rejection and discouragement from family, friends, and society fills her life. Because
the world will not permit the expression of her genius, she eventually commits
suicide. Woolf argues that like ?Shakespeare?s sister,? any woman ?born with a gift
for poetry in the sixteenth century was an unhappy woman, a woman at strife against
herself? (Woolf 50). Although the circumstances of female writers greatly improve
over the next 300 years, Woolf finds that ?even in the nineteenth century a woman
was not encouraged to be an artist. On the contrary, she was snubbed, slapped,
lectured and exhorted? (Woolf 55). Despite the great odds against her, a few women
managed to disregard their discouraging environments and write successfully. The
conditions that they overcame amaze Woolf: ?What genius, what integrity it must
have required in face of all that criticism, in the midst of that purely patriarchal
society to hold fast to the thing as they saw it without shrinking? (Woolf 74).
Unlike most nineteenth century female writers, Mary Shelley is supported in her
intellectual pursuits throughout her life. Although society discourages female
writers, her family surrounds her with constant encouragement. Shelley comes from a
background of famous radical writers. The political and moral writings of her father,
William Godwin, are extremely influential during the time. Her feminist mother,
Mary Wollstonecraft, writes the controversial book, A
A Position Within The Political Communications Field

political science and communications disciplines; dealing with the production, and

White has to prepare to implement cost reductions in her organization; she must be
open, honest and be sincere with all the staff about reducing the cost and how this
will affect the organization. She should reduce the headcount in proportion in the
difference within the work load. If the community center generally treats more
cases that the outpatient sections then the cuts could be made from outpatient.
Service contracts are easy to work with as long as the current provider or new
provider is reasonable. Normally travel, consultation and professional budgets are
cut. What is the hardest has to cut people that work closely with a manager, it is
important for the manager to budget responsibly. The employee should be notified
immediately of such actions so they are prepared and can have time to look for
something new. Sometimes this is not the case, as for a friend of mine who showed
up to work one day and they informed her they had to let her go. Usually an outgoing
employee should be provided with a departure package, lump sum payment or
package with benefits to help them with the sudden change.
With the first budget below, it has been reduced $94,000. There has been an
Hamlet And Oedipus The King
A tragic hero can be defined as a courageous character who is destined for their own
destruction. These characters usually seek out to do something for the greater good,
but end up causing their own death. Sophocles Oedipus the King tells the life of a
king named Oedipus who is trying to solve the murder case of the former king. A
similar plotline is seen in Shakespeare s Hamlet, where Hamlet tries to uncover who
killed his father, who was also the king before his untimely death. Both characters set
out to do something good, but create many problems and ultimately find themselves
corrupted. Oedipusinitial introduction presents the character as a well rounded man
who is simply trying to help his people and serve justice. In the... Show more content

The two go back and forth for a while which ultimately ends in Oedipus sentencing
Creon to death for essentially treason. At this point in the play, it is clear that
Oedipus is making some rash decisions in order to clear his consciousness. It
appears he still wants to do the right thing, but nothing goes his way. As the play
progresses, a messenger is sent to tell Jocasta of Polybus , Oedipus believed father,
death. Oedipus is told of this and is relieved, as this is a sure sign that the prophesy
will not be true. The messenger then tells Oedipus that his father really was not his
father, and Oedipus questions the messenger on how he knows this. The messenger
explains that Oedipus was A gift he took you from these hands of mine (Sophocles
1553). The messenger saved Oedipus by bringing him to Polybus instead of
leaving him to die. Oedipus tells Jocasta of this new information and how he plans
to find out more, and Jocasta pleads with him to leave it alone. Finally, the
herdsman is brought in to answer Oedipus questions. The herdsman is hesitant at
first, but eventually tells Oedipus the truth. He was the one who gave a baby to the
messenger, the baby who was left to die by Laius and Jocasta. It is now clear to
Oedipus that this horrid oracle is true, and it is his life. Oedipus sets off to kill
Jocasta, but is shocked to find that she has committed suicide. All of this information
plus his mother s suicide has caused Oedipus so much mental distress
Examples Of Heroic Code In Beowulf
Beowulf is a classic example of heroic code, which consists of honor, generosity,
bravery, truth, hospitality, and perseverance. These are the Anglo Saxon values, and
were treasured above religion. Beowulf, as an epic hero, symbolizes many of these,
but the clearest would have to be honor, bravery, and perseverance.
In the time period for Anglo Saxons, honor was extremely important for various
reasons, so it makes sense that Beowulf would be so strongly integrated with
integrity. Anglo Saxons believed honor was important because this is the code the
warriors lived by, and the warriors chose to battle with their brothers and sacrifice
their lives, rather than come back with the deaths of their fellow warriors on their
hands. Beowulf is integrated
Use Of Light And Shadow By Niguel Barker
It is more than his usage of light and shadow, or his technical know how that makes
his photography the best in the world. With a click of his finger, celebrity
photographer, Niguel Barker captures a moment and conveys a story.
If I m shooting a landscape, I look at the clouds, and I look at the lights. How does
it make me feel?...Or are there clouds in the sky that look gloomy like something s
about to happen like a storm on the horizon. You feel that, and as you re looking
through the viewfinder you try to find that and all of a sudden certain things pop out

enjoyed the people. They were kooky. They were crazy. They were innovative, and
they were genius and exciting. I didn t want to give it up, so I thought, Well, how
about photography? said Barker. He spoke about how he enjoyed taking pictures
since he was kid and had taken classes in high school and continued with, Back

Of course, now everyone who I hire has a degree in photography. They are all more

Since that first monumental moment he has moved on to work with magazines

Two Great Short Stories Read by Many are A Rose for
Emily...
Two of the greatest short stories written back in late 19th and early 20th centuries
are still read by many people. The two stories are A Rose for Emily written by
William Faulkner and Guy De Maupassant s The Necklace . Faulkner s book is
about a woman named Emily Grierson s life and her horrible secret she hides. The
other book is about a materialistic woman named Mathilde Loisel loses a fake
necklace and find out to be a fake one after ten years later. Although these stories are
written about fifty years apart and written from two different countries, these two
stories have many similarities and differences. A Rose for Emily and The Necklace
are juxtaposed with the main characters, usage of symbolism on the title, and the tone

Also these items can reflect the strong symbolism in it. Faulkner used a rose, but
De Maupassant used the necklace to represent the main character s emotions in
two items. The difference in those symbols is that a rose has only appeared on the
title but the necklace is the whole flow of the story. Faulkner leaves the reader to
interpret the rose s symbolic meaning. The rose is usually a powerful symbol of
love, it always has been, and portrays an everlasting beauty. Moreover, the rose has
been used for centuries to illustrate an eternal type of love and faithfulness.
Therefore, readers can infer the meaning that the rose present in the title, and
portray it to Emily that she does not have love in her life. The necklace, however it
is the important items that lead to the climax of the story. It is pretty but
worthless, shows the awareness of appearance and real world. Also, the fake
necklace shows Mathilde s desire to be something she is not. The last comparison
about these two narratives about tone. The tone of two narratives is very ironic.
There are many ironies to be found in A Rose for Emily. One of the examples,
when she is speaking with the Aldermen. They are trying to convince Emily to pay
her taxes and she simply repeated a person s name who has been dead for ten years.
The other story The Necklace also have many ironical quotes. Mathilde Loisel really
wants to be in the upper class society, but because she shows persistence borrowing

The Causes Of Sexual Orientation And Homosexuality
Charles Darwin famously said, We do not even in the least know the final cause of
sexuality. The whole subject is hidden in darkness (Ryu). Since the beginning of time,
there have been questions revolving around the topic of sexual orientation. Within the
past few decades, homosexuality is becoming more mainstream and socially
acceptable as more people begin to examine their gender identity and sexual
preferences. Scientists researched to determine the cause of sexual orientation;
however, two opposing sides have formed around the issue: nature (inherited genes
and biology) versus nurture (the environment). Proponents of nature argue sexual
orientation is biological and genetic; whereas proponents of nurture argue sexual
orientation is non biological, environmental, and socially constructed.
According to the American Psychological Association, sexual orientation is not a
choice; instead ...it emerges from most people in early adolescence with no prior
sexual experience ( Answers to Your Questions About Sexual Orientation and
Homosexuality ). Despite this, social theorists and other branches of scientists argue
an individual s upbringing directly impacts their sexual orientation. Many proponents
of nurture are religiously motivated to establish the morality behind sexual
orientation. However, the purpose of this essay is to examine and develop a deeper
understanding of the theories surrounding the cause of sexual orientation. When
combining all four non adaptive,

Brigadier General Frost and Brigadier General Lyon are on a collision course. Frost
is training his pro Southern state militia at Camp Jackson over which the
Confederate flag is flying. Lyon believes that waiting any longer without action
would be dangerous for the cause of the Union and the security of St. Louis. (L174)
(L204) (L272)
On Friday, May 10, 1861, Johann Voss drills with the rest of his 2nd Regiment. This
is their usual practice in the morning. They drill for two hours under the watchful
eye of their commander, a five year veteran of the Austrian army, Colonel Henry
Boernstein. Learning to drill in such a brief period is no easy matter for Johann.

together. To the onlookers, he and his regiment appear to be nothing more than an
armed mob as none of them have been issued military uniforms. Nervous and
frightened, many of the soldiers are holding their guns not up over their shoulders as
they were told, but in a ready position with some of them aiming at the people on the
pavement. Johann is both scared and nervous as everything is oppressively silent. He
can hear nothing but the shuffling of feet or, now and then, an officer s command, or
a taunt from the hostile crowd. All four regiments arrive almost simultaneously to
surround Camp Jackson. (L174) (L175) (L180)
He is deployed on the northwest side of the camp at Grand and Olive as Camp
Jackson is surrounded by the mostly German troops with guns set up in such a way
as to cover almost the entire secessionist camp. Lyon sends an officer under a flag

demand to surrender the camp to federal troops within half an hour, or he would

uproar and panic in the secessionist camp of 2,000 men. Within 30 minutes, General
Frost s assistant appears before Lyon and
Analysis Of Frank Mccarthy s The Kid
McCarthy describes the Kid as a savage animal rather than a sympathetic
protagonist. Yet instead of representing an ideal hero, the Kid is shown to savage,
uncaring, and inhuman. The first description of the Kid as a child and of the night
of his birth. He is described as incubat[ing] in [his mother s] bosom...who would
carry [his mother] off and that he already has a taste for mindless violence (1). To
incubate refers to dormancy, usually applied to viruses developing inside a host. In
calling the kid a creature that incubates in the womb portrays him as a virus, an
unfeeling entity existing to cause disease regardless of the person. Emphasizing this
concept of detachment is the phrase carry her off . The Kid is described to have...

Sproule s arm is badly injured and he moves much more slowly across the plains.
When they arrive at a deserted town, the Kid says that we ought to scout the houses
and that we need to find...a place to sleep (62). Note that the Kid uses the pronoun
we and not I or you . Despite Sproule being injured enough to cause him to be a
liability, the Kid still considers them as a group. He acts for the benefit of both of
them, as shown in how he discusses their action in terms we . Even after Sproule
tells him to go on and for the kid to save [himself] he stays by Sproule and doesn t
move, choosing to travel with Sproule and share the scarce food supply until the
man dies of his injuries (66). The Kid could have easily abandoned Sproule in
favor of surviving alone. With the limited supplies they scavenged, the Kid may
have fared better alone than sharing with Sproule who had little chance of
recovering with no professional medical help nearby. Acting for the sake of a
group and watching out for someone else isn t an action following the image of
the selfish, cruel individual. The novel even appears to echo this misrepresentation
of the Kid during the scene where Sproule decries the kid as someone wrong all the
way through when he thinks Kid tried to kill him (69). The reality of that situation
was that a bat had come and bit Sproule to suck his blood. The Kid had woken up
and tried to kill the bat, not Sproule. The Kid appears more well intentioned than he is
Legalization Of Marijuana In Canada
Marijuana is listed under one of the ancient and prohibited drugs with high rate of
use for both medical and recreational purposes (Grinspoon and Bakalar qtd. in
Lucas et al. 435). It has been used for the last 5000 years around the world by both
legal and illegal ways. Furthermore, Grinspoon and Bakalar in their research say
that despite the high rate of recreational use and over 5000 years of therapeutic
applications, this plant has resulted in relatively few serious negative physical or
social impacts beyond the consequences associated with legal prohibitions on its use
(Lucas et al. 435). Canada was the first country in the world which outlawed use of
cannabisin 1923 and there are no scientific basis behind its prohibition (MacQueen...

Canada s illegal marijuana industry has been valued at over $7 billion annually,
with some estimating $21 billion and Akpata also mentions that the war on drugs
has cost over billions of tax money (14). Last, Akpata insists that Canada is a
marijuana exporting country and has some of the highest rates of consumption of
marijuana on earth (15). Akpata in his research mention that, Colorado brings in
roughly US$10 million per month from a marijuana tax more than comes in from
alcohol sales (14), he suggests that if government legalize weed in Canada and put
the tax on its sale then they will able to generate a huge amount of profit because
Canada is the largest country of hemp consumers in the world. It is also estimated
that B.C. would reap $500 million a year in taxation and licensing revenues from a
liquor control board style of government regulation and sale (MacQueen 21).
Furthermore, Macqueen in his research predicts a $12 million saving in
enforcement costs in the first year, rising to $40 million as courts and prisons adapt
to fewer and fewer violators. It predicts combined savings and new revenue will
approximately save over $60 million of tax money in British Columbia and this
figure will estimate to get double in 2017
Correctional Officer Stress
Everyday crimes are committed. Some of these offenses committed by perpetrators
are more severe than others, and cause the individuals who carry out the crimes to be
sentenced to time in the county or prison facilities. At the forefront of protecting
these criminals from committing more crimes and jeopardizing the public s safety
are correctional officers. The main goal of correctionswork is the safe and secure
management and rehabilitation of justice involved individuals, whether in locked
facilities or within community supervision programs (Denhof, 1). Although,
correctional officer s sole job is to provide care, custody, and control for perpetrators,
correctional officers have another job. That task is not to become subdued by the

The seven programs that administrators can consider adopting can be run in house
or by contract with external agencies (Finn, N.P). According to Finn, this program
will offer professional counseling, peer support, or both, address chronic stress,

suggests that offering counseling to officers and their family members is imperative.
Implementing a mandatory counseling session as part of officer s yearly in house
training would be a good initiative. This counseling session could take place in
conjunction with officer s yearly renewal of weapons qualification, first aid training,

Cleaning Water Disinfection In The United States
There are currently several different technologies used for water disinfection. These
include: Chlorine, iodine, and ozone which are chemical methods of water
disinfection. Filtration, including microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis,
are used to remove bacteria found in water.1 Additionally, one can disinfect water
using UV irradiation, ultrasonic treatment, electrolysis, solar disinfection, and slow
sand filtration.2 Water borne illnesses continue to trouble developing countries and
disaster stricken areas.3 The U.N. estimates that water borne diseases are
responsible for nearly eighty percent of all deaths in developing countries and more
than one in six people do not have access to clean water.4 A recent University of

There is still a very long way to go, but with these new ways of brining fresh water
to rural communities in the U.S. and developing nations every day brings the
world closer to clean drinking water for all. Many of these technologies are still in
the developing phases and put off harmful bi products, but U.V. radiation treatment
of water has come a long way. There are still some kinks to work out in certain ultra
violet systems as seen in cases like the one at the U.S. White Water Center. Despite
these issues the U.V. systems are improving with each year and are becoming more
accessible to poor rural communities who wish to have clean drinking water. Endnotes

How Did The Spanish American War Affect The Philippines
The Spanish American War was a four month conflict between the United States and
Spain provoked by many things. Spain, at the time, was controlling Cuba. In 1895,
Jose Marti and the inserrectos1 revolted against Spanish rule, leading to General
Valeriano Weyler to become the governor of Cuba. General Weyler was harsh with
the rebels and non rebels alike and put much of the Cuban population in
concentration camps, where the many Cubans died from starvation and disease.
Americans felt very sympathetic for the Cubans and the way they were being
treated, especially because of yellow journalism . Yellow journalism exaggerated the
way the Spanish were treating the Cubans and deepened many Americans hatred for
the Spanish. Joseph Pulitzer, owner of the New York World, and William Randolph

the United States took control over Puerto Rico, Congress passed the Foraker Act,

McKinley explained that giving the Philippines back to Spain would be cowardly

Women In Latin America
Over the course of the semester, we have examined a multitude of issues facing
women across Latin America. The complex struggles are diverse and vary greatly
throughout the region, however parallels can often be drawn based on shared
historical roots and influences. The access to full sexual and reproductive health and
rights, is one of these parallel presenting instances and is the issue confronted in
Gideon, Leite and Minte s article titled What is hindering progress? The

American women today. With racialized women facing poorer health outcomes and
mistreatment. With sexuality being inherently tied to the economic gain of women,

Gender will remain such a large factor in shaping the daily lives of both men and
women in Latin America today as long as these power dynamics and norms remain
largely unchallenged. But that is not to say that challenging them will be

Introduction Over the years, with the corporate development and social or statutes
pressure, some concepts and standards related with audit is uncertainly or ambiguous.
The obvious question is whether auditors should be blame when they failing to warn
investors to ailing firms financial problems and risks (McNabb, 2009). In my
opinion, auditors should be blame when they did not provide sufficient and useful
information to alert to investors. Prior to answer the question, according to the

Critique Of Barbra Ehrenreich s Poem
I enjoyed this piece a great deal more than the radical feminist/lesbian pieces we
read for Tuesday. I think that I connected with this piece more because it felt
descriptive and informative rather than problematically prescriptive. Rich sets up
the environment that heterosexuality is situated in as compulsory because of
Patriarchal cohesion and violence and I found it very productive of her to set it up
as an institution. I thought her critiques were very well placed and argued in a
very respectful manner. I loved when she discussed Barbra Ehrenreich and Deirdre
English s piece because her critique was very necessary but she did not tear them
down to highlight their omissions. She states [s]o much of this book [on witches,
midwives, and nurses] is so devastatingly informative and is written with such lucid
feminist wit, that I kept waiting as I read for the basic prescription against
lesbianism to be examined. It never was (Rich 634). She is rightly calling out
feminist academics who have not tackled lesbianism in a thoughtful way, but she isn t

She states, [t]he fact is that women in every culture and throughout history have
undertaken the task of non heterosexual, woman connected existence, to the extent

scholarship of the 1980 s that focused on finding women s histories that have been
erased, but that fact that she is focusing on lesbians is important as well. Her
statement also reminded me of the idea of consciousness raising, not only within a
single community but also within a broad historical narrative. She is encouraging the

It requires extensive research to understand the various aspects of the Industrial Revolution, including its causes, effects, key players, technological advancements, social impacts, and global consequences. One of the difficulties lies in organizing the information in a coherent and structured manner, as the Industrial Revolution encompasses a wide range of topics spanning economics, politics, sociology, history, and technology. It requires critical analysis and synthesis of information from diverse sources to present a comprehensive and insightful essay. Furthermore, crafting a compelling thesis statement that captures the essence of the Industrial Revolution while offering a unique perspective or argument adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. It requires careful thought and consideration to develop a thesis that is both original and well-supported by evidence. Additionally, addressing the various interpretations and debates surrounding the Industrial Revolution can be challenging, as historians and scholars often have differing viewpoints on its causes, outcomes, and significance. Navigating through these conflicting perspectives while maintaining objectivity and academic rigor requires analytical skills and scholarly discernment. Moreover, conveying the significance and relevance of the Industrial Revolution in today's context presents its own set of challenges. • 2. Last of the Mohicans Movie Review Essay example The last of the Mohicans review The last of the Mohicans was a movie that really appealed to me from the beginning because of the heroism and the action into it. The main characters in this movie were Daniel day Lewis as Nathanial Poe (Hawkeye) and Madeline Stowe as Cora Munro. The movie could be described as a romantic action like a Spiderman or a superman movie always needs the girl to give motivation to the main character but it is a historical drama. The movie was 112 minutes long, it contains three languages English, French and Mohawk, it was filmed in the USA, it was released in September 1992 and its tagline was the first American hero, it is also based on the novel of James Fennimore cooper. It is about the French and British... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Natives in this movie are seen as weaklings and they were only used for their cunning fighting strategies and also their resources like food and homes, the French and British did not care about the natives they only cared about how they could get more land and more powerful, although the natives allied with the French or the British they still disliked them for what they were doing to their homes and culture. The movie does not harm the native s picture to the world because they were the ones who were weak and hurt in the movie it gave people something to think about like how the English and French could do this to the natives and what are the consequences of the actions that were taken by the French or the British. The movie also gives the feeling of sympathy towards the natives and fills you up with hatred towards the Europeans who invaded the natives land. The movie also shows us the way the natives dressed which were just long pieces of cloths and leather pants which were cut off at the crouch for a relaxed fit, also the way they ate which was hunting deer and elk and gathering berries and vegetables, it also showed their language and a little spiritual scenes when they shot an elk. It gave me anal
  • 3. Man On Wire, By James Marsh Man on wire which was set in 1947 directed by James Marsh about a french high wire artist Philippe Petit who is fascinated by New Yorks trade Centre where he has strung a six metre tight rope between the twin tires and walked across it without any fear. The documentary is about Petit s daring attempt, the aftermath and about his friends and the people who helped him achieve his life goals. Some consider it the artistic crime of the century The director has used many techniques to captivate audiences making us feel like we are apart of this incredible story. Techniques such as Interviews and archival footage. One of the most widely used documentary techniques is interviews. Interviews reflect opinions from different viewpoints creating an almost 3 dimensional story. Its helps the audience feel more engaged as it is coming from a person s point of view who was involved in the events making it feel more realistic. The audience can be assured that the story is not made up. Interviews give a sense of realism. Man on wire is a good example of the interview style being used to reflect feelings of the time Petit was on his way to making his dream come a reality. The emotions at some point were exaggerating maybe because he is a performer. But this made us as viewers feel apart of the film being able to sympathize with the characters and storyline. Marsh uses a technique where we see the subject talking on screen but we do not hear the interviewer talking or asking questions.
  • 4. Drug Conhibition And Drug Prohibition In The United States Alcohol didn t cause the high crime rate of the 20s and 30s, prohibition did. And drugs do not cause today s alarming crime rates, but drug prohibition does ( Badnarik). Although Congress had great intentions by banning alcohol and drugs, it made living in America that much more difficult. The passage of the 18th amendment contributed to the rise of illegal activities carried out by organized crimesyndicates. The 18th amendment states After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited. The Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the constitution by the legislatures of the several states, as provided in the constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress (Grossman 469 ). After this was ratified on January 16, 1919, it was going to create a problem that no one saw coming with full force. This was the first and part amendment that was used to try to get rid of a product and also it was the only one to be repealed so far. The Volstead Act is what shifted Congress opinion and it states, An act to prohibit
  • 5. Richard Nixon Field Trip Madeline Clark History 170 25 January 2016 Field Trip Assignment For my field trip I went to the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. I actually live right down the street and yet have never taken a trip there. This place is a library and a museum. It was so interesting to walk through, looking at all of the history that was made there. The three things that I valued the most form this experience was the Birthplace, the Presidential Helicopter, and the East Room. Considering Nixon did grow up in that house that is located at the scene, it was very impressive to see that the house was still standing. The helicopter was also located at this exhibit that Richard Nixon along with other Presidents that have physically sat and road in it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I actually got to go in the Helicopter, which was very cool. This helicopter was used by President Nixon, Ford, Johnson, and Kennedy. This helicopter seats 16 people and cost a million dollars to put together in 1960. This helicopter was known as either Marine One or Army one, depending on who was controlling it at the time. It was said that President Nixon used it more then 160 times and one of those times was when he took it over seas for the Summit meeting with President Sadat in Egypt. One of the most famous trips was when he took that helicopter to a military base after he resigned. This helicopter was brought from the White house in 1976 and was used for secret service. Then it was installed in the library grounds in 2006. This helicopter is so unique and interesting. When I got to walk through it, it was fascinating to see the assigned seats for the president and his crew. Also something striking was that they were able to smoke in this helicopter back in the day, so there were ashtrays. This helicopter is such a valuable symbol for President

  • 7. Why Composting Pick Up Isn t Available, Money Can Still... Where composting pick up isn t available, money can still be saved. In Rhode Island, Johnson and Wales University s culinary school invested in a high tech composting machine in their kitchen. Although the initial investment was substantial, the university is already saving money. Specifically, they expect for the machine to pay for itself in 5 years because they don t send trash to Rhode Island Central Landfill (Luebsdorf). Even in big cities where composting plants are accessible, many believe there is no demand for the final product of composting. At this time, most of the U.S. composting plants are small. Although in some regions, the composting industry is gaining popularity and interest from many investors across the nation. Marketing development, higher procurement participation rate programs, and economic incentives are all being implemented to help persuade composting. The state of Connecticut is currently offering six million dollars in loans or grants to the composting industry (Platt 9). Some even believe the demand for compost will increase so much, regulatory action and mandates will be unneeded. But until then, any food waste landfills bans and other composting requirements have to be considered (Leubsdorf). In the meantime, in locations where commercial composting operations are unavailable, local composting is still viable for most of the food service industry. Especially when food waste is at a manageable level, a composting pile can be personally

It is based on Tevye and his Daughters. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences intrude upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong willed actions of his three older daughters each one s choice of husband moves further away from the customs of her faith and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. I want to talk about a few of my favorite scenes. When Tevye invites Perchick to stay with them, the night Tevye goes out to drink with Lazer Wolf, when Tevye excepts Motel and the dream. ... Yente, the village matchmaker, arrives with news for Golde. Lazar Wolf the wealthy butcher, wants to wed Tzeitel, their eldest daughter. Tevye must be persuaded to meet Lazar to arrange the marriage. The two middle daughters, Hodel and Chava, speculate excitedly about what their mother and the matchmaker were talking about, but Tzeitel warns them not be so hasty. They are poor, so their parents will have no choice but to take whatever husband Yente brings. Tzeitel is not eager to have a match found for her, as she is already in love with the tailor, Motel Kamzoil, her friend since childhood. Change away from those traditions is in the air, which is confirmed by Perchik, a young man, a student espousing Marxist ideals, recently arrived from Kiev. He is a teacher and is willing to teach Tevyes
  • 9. The Pros And Cons Of The Keystone Pipeline Pro You wake up one day but everything seems odd. Its freezing cold in your house and you wonder what happened to the heat. You go to the kitchen and try to find something to eat and there is no food anywhere. Suddenly you hear scattering and banging in your parents bathroom.Your mom is looking for medicine because she is extremely sick but there is no medicine that she can find to help her. Do you know why, it s because this is how our future will look like if we have nothing efficient enough to transport the oil that we use in almost everything to us.Therefore we believe the U.S should build the Keystone Pipeline XL because doing so will provide more jobs and increase tax revenue, oil is extremely essential for daily life and the keystone will help to transport our oil easier and safer. The Keystone Pipeline will provide jobs for the U.S. Since the Keystone Pipeline requires a lot of help and work to be done, that means it will require a lot of workers to help build it. If we do complete the keystone pipeline xl there is an estimated 138.4 million in annual property tax. That money can be used for schools churches and activity centers which therefore will create more jobs. If we do not build the keystone pipeline how will we get our oil? Even though rails are slightly faster at transporting oil does not mean they are safer. Transporting oil by rails is more likely to explode or spill and if we continue to do so we will be wasting a ton of oil that could be used for our community. This brings me to my last
  • 10. Detail How Leiser Questions the Moral Condemnation of... Unnatural More Than One Meaning? There are those words that have more than one way to be spelled, have more than one definition, and have more than one meaning. The word second can mean something that is right after the first, or it can be a unit of telling time. The word unnatural is a similar word. It has different meanings, but the meanings are also related. Burton Leiser questions the way unnatural is used when he hears people say that homosexual intercourse is unnatural. Views on homosexuality were based on Christianity, which views homosexuality as unnatural, a violation of natural law, immoral, and condemnable. When we use the word natural , we have to deal with how ambiguous it is. In nature, it can either mean one of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been told that I look like a duck or an ostrich when I run, but that doesn t give a reason for me to be condemned. Some uncommon or abnormal traits can be praised because they are so unique. Some people are good at cooking and some people aren t good at cooking, which benefits a lot of people because people can enjoy good food without having to deal with their lack of cooking skills. I definitely would not condemn a person who knows how to make a good steak, or even a good wine. If unnatural is used in this sense, then homosexuality can t be condemned. The fourth argument on if homosexuality is unnatural is based on how any use of an organ or an instrument that is different from its main use can be seen as unnatural. Every organ in the body and every tool or instrument is designed to do a certain task. Sometimes, if a tool is used in a certain way, that is different to its original use, it can be improper, and even harmful. Keys are used to unlock doors, unlock padlocks, and start cars, but some people use keys to cut through plastic containers. Keys are not designed for cutting, and if a person is not careful, that person can cut or stab him or herself in the process. People know that the main purpose for sex organs is to reproduce and to create more of their own kind. No other organs in the body have the ability to reproduce. Any other use of the sex organs, such as homosexual behavior, and even masturbation, can be seen as unnatural.
  • 11. Speech About Mao s Last Dancer Good morning ladies and gentlemen, today we will celebrate the life of an individual who achieved the impossible through perseverance and mental strength. Also, I will convince you why the film Mao s Last Dancer MUST be screened at this year s film festival. Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved. This insightful quote ultimately embodies the notion of working hard for your freedom instead of waiting for it. So, precisely, one will only have the strength to gain freedom by persevering throughout life s obstacles and hardships. Li Cunxindid not expect freedom to arrive at his doorstep; he was acutely aware that freedom and success are born from hard work; he suffered through blood, sweat and tears throughout his whole journey to earn his freedom. Li s ruthless childhood experiences taught him to persevere through difficult times. Throughout his life, he had tolerated some enjoyable events like playing in the snow with his brothers, yet some draining events like discovering that his Niang fainted whilst on her trip to the dam. Li s Niang was his number one supporter. She continually gave him tough love and encouraged him to take this chance to escape from this cruel world. (and) Go, and do something special with your (his) life! (p.96). The world of poverty was tough to escape but Li s mental strength assisted him into doing so. If it weren t for his Niang, he would not be where he is today. However, Li

The political poem shows Browning at her most passionately cosmopolitan, and as a poet (Leighton 106). This poem let the critics see that Browning was an accomplished poet. Along with her theme of love Browning showed in Casa Guidi Windows the intractable issues of papal power, British imperialism, and nationalistic mythologizing into a strong and musical poetry (Leighton 106). • 15. Analysis Of Dostoevsky And Kierkegaard s The Grand... What does it mean to have faith? This is not a question of, do you believe in the teachings of your religion, but what is a true believer. Dostoevsky and Kierkegaard are two philosophers that extensively delved with great contemplation and introspection of what it means to be a Christian. Both of these philosophers took a critical microscope to the typical Christian teachings of how to be a good Christian. What both of these philosophers eventually deduced is that the traditional teachings of Christianity remove the person from from ever truly finding the meaning behind their faith; thus separating the devoted from the divine. For both Dostoevsky and Kierkegaard, to be a Christian is more than going through the motions of what the church leaders tell you, but to find out for oneself why they ultimately believe. To convey his notions, Ivan, the main character of Dostoevsky s story, creates the character the Grand Inquisitor. The Grand Inquisitor is symbolic of the catholic church and the control they hold over the followers of Catholicism. In this story, the Grand Inquisitor is faced with Jesus Christ, whom has come back to earth for the second coming. In on particular instance, The Inquisitor challenges Christ by saying, Didst Thou forget that man prefers peace, and even death, to freedom of choice in the knowledge of good and evil? Nothing is more seductive for man than his freedom of conscience, but nothing is a greater cause of suffering (Dostoevsky, pg 12). To the

I am talking about oil the black substance made from millions of years of decomposition of animals and plants. The pressure and time eventually transforms dead organisms into an energy that can be used to power automobiles, lights, boats, construction equipment, and the list goes on and on. With all of the oil that our wonderful earth has created our government has created an institution that helps regulate and control our oil and gas industry. The IPAA has a great history and purpose by practicing their rights as an organization to represent the people of the oil industry. About 2 years ago my interest in oil sparked when a man I had known for my whole life began his own business as a hydrostatic tube tester. Pretty soon I joined him in working the long days in the oil field and quickly absorbed all the information he knew. From owning an oil lease to fixing the seating nipple at the end of a well pump I learned quickly what this line of work was all about. So when asked about an interest group to write about I wanted to do something involving the oil industry since I was fairly knowledgeable about it and I

Captivity And Restoration Of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson by Mary Rowlandson is a primary example of the sectionalism of Puritans, and more specifically, Puritan women. Rowlandson recounts the attack on her home by the Wampanoag tribe as well as the aftermath of her eventual capture. Being certain to record the removes, or days spent traveling with her captors, Rowlandson created a record of her travels with her captors as well as preserved her own womanhood from the accusations of her own people. The time of Puritan colonies was one in which male preachers held the most power. Preachers received more education than most of the population and their status as males provided them an unquestionable position of power in Puritan society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This restriction of interests is clearly displayed in the captivity narrative of Mrs. Rowlandson. One example of this is her specific detail regarding her sleeping situation and detailing of anything involving her body or emotion. As mentioned above, Puritans placed a great deal of emphasis on the chastity of a woman, meaning that Rowlandson was compelled to record everything that happened to her in order to protect herself and her chastity by including her womanly feelings such as her grief from having her child killed and having to leave her family behind. Another example of sectionalism within the narrative can be found in Rowlandson s account of the specific locations that she traveled to and the culture of the people that she was with. She frequently mentions locations of Indian towns and the barbaric behavior of the people living in them in order to both provide details concerning the land around her home and to create a significant divide between herself and the immoral group she was with. Finally, Mrs. Rowlandson was able to display Puritan sectionalism by killing her captors and returning to her family. As odd as it was for Mary to kill the Indians with brutality akin to that exhibited by the natives, her actions were seen as justified and actually glorified by the Puritans after her eventual return and

When a patient leaves the care of the anesthetist after an operation, they wake up under the supervision of a post operative nurse. These health care professionals work in recovery rooms to ensure that post operative patients, who often wake up in physiologically fragile states, will be expertly and continuously supervised. Basic Responsibilities Post operative nurses have two basic responsibilities: transfer and monitor patients after surgeries. After surgeries, post operative nurses assess the patient s condition and determine if they are able to be moved to the post anesthesia care unit (PACU). If the vital signs are instable or if the surgical team encounters problems, the patient may need to remain in the operating room. Once the doctor determines that the patient can safely be moved, they will be transferred to the PACU for continued care under the watchful eyes of a post operative nurse. There, patients will be carefully monitored when they wake up, so they will know what is going on. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A brief is suppose to be changed at least 5 8 times a day or immediately after it s been soiled. After a brief change it is important to clean the area properly to prevent any infections. A urinary tract infection can occur if a patient stays in their soiled brief for an extended amount of time or if they are not cleansed properly. Another consequence with having a soiled brief is that you could be at risk for skin breakdown. As stated Too much moisture over hydrates the skin, making it weak and more sensitive to friction, shear and breakdown (think about being in the tub or pool for a long time). Primary sources of excess skin moisture include sweating, bowel and bladder accidents, and drainage from wounds (Skin Health: Prevention and Treatment of Skin Breakdown,2011). Therefore, if a healthcare provider does not attend to a soiled brief immediately, risk for infection and skin breakdown will occur. My personal/ professional values and beliefs In this situation I felt that it conflicted with me on a personal and professional level, being a student nurse and also a women. When I first went into the room and seen a patient crying, I wanted to help but with my qualifications as a student I was not able to. As a women not being able to change yourself or do anything on your own, takes away your pride and dignity, making you feel useless and lowers your self esteem. If I had a family member in the hospital I would hope that the nurses are treating them

(Heywood, 2011) This is usually referred to the UN security council, this emphasises on the power in which the security council holds and how much responsibility they have, to protect and maintain peace and security. Secondly, Kofi Annan tried to reconcile the tension between sovereignty and human rights, by arguing that, in a context of globalization and international cooperation s, the state should be viewed as the servant of people and vice versa (Annan,1999) . Changing attitudes towards the norm are reflected in the growth in the influence of such doctrines of intervention as the responsibility to protect is that there is an onus on the international community to intervene in situations, where the lives of a country s civilian population are threatened by the actions of government (Guelke, 2012) However, this can be seen as a disadvantages towards responsibility to protect as stated above people s lives and safety are in the hands of governments which in some occasions cannot be good, as not all civilians agree with government verdicts. Finally, Russia is regarded as a weak rival of the west in geo strategic terms, its capacity to project power remains very limited (Guelke, 2012). Radios also became the preferred method for communicating the news of the day. While the AM frequency was popular for broadcasting throughout the 1950s and beyond, researchers began developing the FM in the 1940s as an alternative to FM. This method became popular during the 1960s and took hold throughout the 1970s. It was more popular than the AM signal because it could transmit on any frequency. Although its original purpose was intended for classical music lovers and educational purposes, the FM method was a favorite for rock music in the 1960s. It wasn t until 1978, however, that the FM programming had more listeners than the AM. In recent years, radio has made even more developments that have made listening to your favorite music even easier. With a simple internet connection, you can listen to streaming audio from almost any radio station all over the world. A new trend in radio broadcasting is also the podcast. This is where individuals put together a recording that resembles a radio show and then post it online for anybody to listen to. Sirius and XM radio are not controlled by federal regulations in the same way that normal airwaves are governed. By the time I got to her room, there was no way of saving her. Grace was engulfed in flames. I stood there for a minute, staring at her, while she looked back at me as her skin melted away. All I could say was, I m sorry! I turned around and headed straight back to my room. I thought to myself, I need to get out of here before I m next. The walls in my room were engulfed in flames; the only way out was through my window. But, I was on the fourth floor of the apartment building. All I thought to myself was, Jump. I gathered the courage to jump. Landing, I broke my leg, but I m alive. Tara asked, How do you feel after leaving your friend there? How do you think I feel? Woolf reads the lives of women and concludes that if a woman were to have written she would have had to overcome enormous circumstances (Woolf xi). Woolf s initial thesis is that a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction (Woolf 4). Throughout the book, however, she develops other important conditions for artistic creation. Woolf mentions many nineteenth century female writers in order to explain these conditions, but she does not mention Mary Shelley. Rejection and discouragement from family, friends, and society fills her life. Because the world will not permit the expression of her genius, she eventually commits suicide. Woolf argues that like ?Shakespeare?s sister,? any woman ?born with a gift for poetry in the sixteenth century was an unhappy woman, a woman at strife against herself? (Woolf 50). Although the circumstances of female writers greatly improve over the next 300 years, Woolf finds that ?even in the nineteenth century a woman was not encouraged to be an artist. On the contrary, she was snubbed, slapped, lectured and exhorted? (Woolf 55). Despite the great odds against her, a few women managed to disregard their discouraging environments and write successfully. The conditions that they overcame amaze Woolf: ?What genius, what integrity it must have required in face of all that criticism, in the midst of that purely patriarchal society to hold fast to the thing as they saw it without shrinking? (Woolf 74). Unlike most nineteenth century female writers, Mary Shelley is supported in her intellectual pursuits throughout her life. Although society discourages female writers, her family surrounds her with constant encouragement. Shelley comes from a background of famous radical writers. The political and moral writings of her father, William Godwin, are extremely influential during the time. Her feminist mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, writes the controversial book, A

Scientists researched to determine the cause of sexual orientation; however, two opposing sides have formed around the issue: nature (inherited genes and biology) versus nurture (the environment).
