A Necessary Prerequisite For A Full Understanding Of Any...
A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing
comprehensive knowledge of their respective sensory world. Here we attempted to determine the
sensory threshold for a response to sweetness in both the flesh fly Sarcophaga bullata and Homo
sapiens. Flies and humans alike were exposed to increasingly concentrated solutions of glucoseand
monitored for a positive response, indicative of the detection of sweetness. Results from our
experiment strongly indicate the population threshold for sweetness detection in S. bullata resides
at a glucose solution concentration level of 1%, while humans exhibited an increased sweetness
sensitivity, with the population threshold appearing at 0.1%. However, while... Show more content

al. 2004). Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be
most responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in
Jakinovich et. al. 1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be
more subtle, if present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant
response to a variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata.
Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on
these two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by
members of the taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates.
For example, while Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that
a sucrose concentration above 3% was sufficient to induce a positive sweetness detection rate of
close to 60% in a population of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated
the H. sapiens population response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%.
Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate
sweeteners in the human diet, has generated an industry of artificial sweeteners commonly utilized

Francisco Aguirre Research Paper
The first type of vines that was brought into Chile was the vitis vinifera. The vines was brought
to Chile by the Spanish in the year 1554. The man that they say planted the first wine was known
by the name Francisco Aguirre (H. Johnson J. Robinson, 2005:297 299). The vines that came
from Spanish established vineyards had black grapes and was bought to Mexico by Hernan
Cortes in 1520. The grapes that was being produced that time was cultivated by Jesuit priests,
because they used the wine that was being produced to celebrate the Eucharist. The distribution of
black grapes was described in the 16th century by Alonso de Ovalle that was from Chile (J.
Robinson, 2006:163 167). The Spanish stopped the production of wines in Chile, because they...

The way that the sweetness of the wine were made was because the wine was boiled and that
helped to concentrate the must of the grapes (J. Robinson, 2006:163 167). Chile s history was
mostly influenced by the French mostly the Bordeaux winemaking. The phylloxera epidemic
made Chile deide to import vines from France. The Chilean Silvestre Errazuriz imported Cabernet
Sauvignon, Merlot, Carbernet Franc, Malbec, Sauvignon blanc and SГ©millon. The Chilean
went so far as Germany to experiment with Riesling (H. Johnson, 1989:432 434). In the 20th
century the Chileans started to transport wine to Argentina, but there was too much problems
with the transport and they struggled to export wines. They agreed on building a railway
between Chile and Argentina in 1909 that made the transport of the wine much easier (Lacoste,
Pablo. 2004). There came a time in the 20th century were the wine of Chile was considered as
bad quality wine in the 1980s. Chile had great conditions for viticulture practises and the people
realized it and started to invest in the wine of Chile. Chile then became the third leading exporter
of wine after France and Italy ( K.MacNeil,

Colonialism And New Imperialism
New Imperialism was the third wave of colonial expansion, precursored by Catholic colonialism in
the sixteenth century and Mercantile colonialism in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. As
the nineteenth century began, it became apparent that Europe and the United States were the
dominant forces of the world, and that they were in control of defining global society. Proponents
of New Imperialism believed that modern expansionism was necessary for economic, political, and
cultural purposes that would benefit their own country. Furthermore, proponents also believed that
colonization would modernize and incite progress in the civilizations outside of Europe and the
United States. Nonetheless, New Imperialism established deep lines of contempt regarding Western
power, marked with violence, throughout the world. Therefore, New Imperialism was a paltry act
done by the Western world which seems to have produced little benefit. New Imperialism took place
from 1870 to 1914. The Western world, including most of Europe, the United States, and Japan,
were primed to dominate the rest of the world. The Enlightenment rationale combined with a
Romantic love of country, which resulted in an explosive combination of ferocious nationalism
(Lecture Transcript). Each country used imperialism to broaden their nations and compete with
each other. Michael Johnson stated that as nationalism grew into a more potent force in the
nineteenth century, it became the source of increased

Team Player Application Essay
Throughout my life, I have thought of myself to be a dedicated team player. For instance, I am
always engaged in group activities and find satisfaction from succeeding with the team. As a
team player, I am committed and reliable to completing every assignment on time and to the
needs of the group. I love sharing ideas with others as well as I love hearing the opinions others.
Collaborating with a team has helped develop my passion for helping others succeed and surpass
their goals. I believe I am an effective team player because I motivate my teammates around me to
do better. Additionally, being a team player has encouraged me to participate in extracurricular
activities and will help me excel in the future.

Being a team player has influenced me to join the Queen Elizabeth Secondary Green Team and
participate in the Energy Conservation Cup last year. At the beginning, my team struggled to
generate ideas on how to conserve energy. However, I motivated the team to think harder and we
were able to come with an effective idea. We decided that we should idea communicate and remind
teachers around the school to turn off their classroom light when they are not in use. To promote
this idea, I cooperated with several members of the team and we visited many teachers around the
school. Consequently, this idea helped the school significantly reduce the amount of energy used.
Furthermore, I alongside others was responsible for creating a variety of green tips to help raise
awareness for conserving energy in the school. Ultimately, with our teamwork, we were able to help
the QE Green Team prevail and win the Energy Conservation Cup. This experience has further

Research Paper On Bottle Rocket
Creating an optimal design that allowed my bottle rocket to go to the highest possible altitude and
velocity was a long process that included lots of testing, trial, and error. With a rocket, I am
attempting to test run and optimize the best design the allows the rocket to have an outstanding
altitude and velocity. During this process of trial and error, I have organized my results by marking
them down on multiple data table. I got my information from a bottle rocket simulator programmed
by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, more commonly known as NASA. The
class attempted to run our own bottle rocket experiment, but this data was inconsistent because
there were many variables that changed with each launch that we could not... Show more content on

My design used a pressure of 600000, coefficient drag of 0.05, a temperature of 4 degrees celsius, 2
liter size bottle, it was filled 70% with water, a nozzle diameter of 0.02 meters, a ballast weight
of 0.03, and had the cone of the bottle rocket on. I picked the variable of the cone on/off,
percentage filled with water, and size of bottle as my three most critical variables. I picked them
because during the runs where I was testing these variables, the altitude and velocity had significant
changes every time. There were some variables such as ballast weight and temperature at launch
that didn t have as drastic changes with each run so they were not as important. One thing that
noticed is that the velocity was consistently higher than the altitude so when testing it, I was more
focused on raising the altitude. When I was focused on the altitude, I never noticed a significant
drop in velocity so I don t think there were any trade offs with the results from this

Analysis Of The Movie Braveheart By William Wallace
If people hear the name William Wallace, they might think of the Mel Gibson movie, Braveheart
. As that is a great movie, it s not nearly the full story of William Wallace. Therefore, a hunt for
the truth of the real the story was underway. William Wallace was born in 1270 s in Scotland, but
not much is known about his childhood but that he lived with his father, Sir Malcom Wallace,
on a small piece of land in Scotland. (BBC) and (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica) This is
dock number one on the movie. Although some may say, Shame on you Hollywood, for making
up the childhood of this remarkable history hero , At the time of Wallace s childhood, Scotland
was starting its decline into succession when it was taken over by England. Therefore, the
stories could, in fact, be true, although no evidence proves it. As Wallace grew up he learned
how to fight battles logically, which overtime made him grow very respected with the men he
met. He was taught to think before he would speak. He was a natural born leader and would hold
his position firmly. This led to battles won where he had very few men, but a very passionate
and trusting crew because Wallace was their leader. In 1296, the king of England, Edward I, took
advantage of the succession in Scotland and declared himself as ruler of Scotland with English
administration. Only a few revolts had taken place when sheriffs were subject to different areas of
Scotland, and even fewer were successful. So far it seems as though

Systems Theory
1. Systems theory and the Ecological perspective
As a social worker, one must understand the impact of systems in the environment.
The interactions between the individual and their multiple systems give social workers a
visual of how to interpret their consumer s life. System theories is one way to try to
interpret a consumer s life to have somewhat of a general idea of how to help solve the
problems they are facing. The easiest way to view system theories are by creating
ecomaps. These maps give you a visual written in black and white to see the different
systems that the individual interacts with.
To understand this concept in the field, a social worker, must know what a
system even is. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I of course have stressful
situations and recieve negative input or output, but who doesnt? Feedback is extremely
important for systems and is a type of input. A system can have either positive feedback
(a system recieving info that what they are doing is correct) or negative feedback
(influences the individual to make a change because it interupts homeostasis). Throughout
most of my ecomap, I mostly have positive feedback but also have a few negative
feedbacks.
Systems tend to move from a simple form to a more complex form. This is known
as differentiation. Life brings in new experiences, relationships, and situations everyday,
so each day your life becomes more complex. One day, a subsystem can have a positive
energy flow and then the very next a negative. It can change by a drop of a hat. Entropy
is the tendency of a system to progress toward disorganization, depletion, and death.
(Zastrow, Kirst Ashman p. 6) The saying nothing lasts forever could not be truer.
People age over time and eventually will die. You as an individual are constantly aging
and will perhaps leave your parents house and start your own family. With time your
children will do the same, and so on and so forth.
Equifinality is a very important concept to understand as well. This simply means
that everyone in the world or in your systems always have an alternative path to

By Johann Sebastian Bach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JQm5aSjX6g This music by Bach
portrays all the characteristic of early Baroque Music which includes melody, texture, and timber.
It is one of the Bach s sets that forms a master anthology that demonstrates all possible possibilities
inherent in a specific musical form. It is scored for violin, continuo, two flutes, and strings. The
flutes was called fiauti d echo , which represented the softer part of the song that echoes. However,
this may not be the case since the flutes appear at the beginning even without the solo violin. Flutes
double the solo but occasionally used in echo function.

Pol Pot Became The Leader Of Cambodia

the small village she lived in, how everyone was close, how much she enjoyed living a simple

Negative Effects Of Red Meat
Meat is an important staple in human diets and nutrition, but not every type of meat is healthy.
Red meat is defined as meat that is red when it is raw, for example beef or lamb. It is consumed in
mass amounts all over the world, although there are risks involved in consuming so much red meat.
Previous research has connected red meatto increased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and
certain cancers. It also causes an increased risk of mortality. The components put into meat, whether
processed or unprocessed, adds to these risks and is unhealthy to put in the body. However, there
are some benefits to eating red meat such as getting vitamins and minerals like B 12 and iron as
well as using it as a source of protein. Too much red meat consumption negatively affects people s
health by causing health problems, creating increased risk for diseases and certain cancers through
the processing of the meat as well as how the body reacts to it.
There are many risks when people eat high levels of red meat. A study suggests that consumption
of red meat and heart disease are tied together because of gut microbes breaking down carnitine,
which helps metabolism and is found in red meat. These microbes help break down food, in the
process forming small compounds. One of these compounds is trimethylamine, which when
metabolized forms trimethylamine N oxide (TMAO). It is associated with atherosclerosis, which is
the build up of fats, cholesterol, and other materials in and on the

Radiant energy released by certain electromagnetic processes is Electromagnetic Radiation. It is
radiant energy that is all around us and takes many forms whether it be visible, such as, visible
light, or invisible electromagnetic radiations, such as radio waves, infrared light, sunlight, and x

Electromagnetic radiation covers a large spectrum of wavelengths, these waves of radiant energy
have different usage according to their energy, in example; the rays from the sun, sunlight is
vital to life on earth, radio waves allow us to communicate, microwaves allow us to cook our
foods, infrared radiation provides us with warmth/heat, visible light illuminate and is also used
essentially for growth of our trees, flowers, and the many foods we grow on earth, ultraviolet
rays, which also comes from the sun, provide us with Vitamin D which is vital for our bones,
and x rays are used for medical diagnostic such as diagnosing a fractured or broken bone or
pathology, it is also used in airports to check our luggage and help us be safe onboard to our
paradise destinations. Gamma rays are used in the medical field to sterilize surgical equipments,
it is also used to sterilize baby nipples, and cosmetic products, just to name a few; And for the past

Nurse Ratched, known as Big Nurse is the head nurse in the asylum and her role is to keep order
and control in the ward. She is a master of manipulation. In the passage on page 55, the metaphor
referring to the therapy meeting as bunch of chickens at a peckin party uses an animal motif to
further emphasize the inhuman way Big Nurse retains control. The alliteration peckin party and
blood and bones (Kesey, 55) underscores the seriousness of the meeting. Harding is the chicken in

The peckin party is a way to keep order by singling out and humiliating the individual until they

Difference Between Reasonable Suspicion And Reasonable Doubt
The issue within this paper focuses on the difference between reasonable suspicion and probable
doubt. The two appear similar in many ways as both require the best judgment of the law
enforcement personnel. But they are in fact different, and all law enforcement must know the
difference in order for the evidence to be admissible in court. Law enforcement is obligated to
follow the protocols and procedures outlined by the U.S. Supreme Court; if law enforcement does
not follow the laws, perpetrators could be released and free to commit more crimes. Proving
probable cause and reasonable suspicion are imperative to avoid violating the rights of citizens.
The police need only reasonable suspicion to stop an individual and question him or her, and they
may search for weapons if they believe that the person is armed or presents an imminent threat of
bodily harm (Taylor, 2012). Reasonable suspicion is when a law enforcement personnel presumes a
crime has been or is about to be committed. For instance, a police officer observes a vehicle
driving unusually faster than the others on the road, therefore performing a speed check using
radar. The car is, in fact, speeding so the officer pursues the vehicle and pulls them over. Upon
approaching the vehicle, the officer notices the suspect scrambling and whispering while leaning
around the car. This causes suspicion, reasonable suspicion, which allows the officer to ask the
person out of the vehicle to detain them. It also gives the

Radioactive Waste Of Radioactive Wastes
INTRODUCTION
Radioactive waste contains radioactive substances, which are used for the production of nuclear
power and in other scientific fields such as nuclear fission or nuclear technology (Hidaka, Yuan, and
ebrary, 2012). Currently, although the use of radioactive materials has provided great benefits to
society, the radioactive waste issue has been widely discussed in terms of being a huge problem that
may affect natural environmental systems, and also human health (Ojovan Knovel, 2011).
According to Sartori (2013), efficient radioactive waste management systems are needed to provide
safe isolation from the contact with the ecosystem as long as necessary to reduce effects on
biological systems; and it involves many steps such as treatment, conditioning, transportation,
storage and disposal of all categories of radioactive wastes, including administrative, operational and
safety related actions (The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation ANSTO,
2011). It is known that radioactive waste management activities have to follow current regulations,
which are directly related to waste characterisation that involves radioactive waste classification.
Due to the importance of radioactive waste, this report addresses a literature review of the
management of radioactive waste.
RADIOACTIVE WASTE CLASSIFICATION
Currently, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been used as the main
organization for developing the classification of radioactive waste.

Niccolo Machiavelli Around 1513 Niccolo Machiavelli while writing The Prince would not be

When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to

not against religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have
overlooked in his philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God
in his passage Although one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what
God Commanded, yet he must be praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with
God. But let us consider Cyrus and the others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all
praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions, when examined, do not seem to differ from
Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too could be Machiavelli simply covering his

blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses when he could have
been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must found a state
that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and The
Discourses. The question though is how can a prince make himself obsolete or should he make
himself completely obsolete? The answer is no he can not make himself completely obsolete. A
Prince should establish a republic but still

Descriptive Essay About The Zoo
The sun was shining, the sky was spotted with clouds, and the wind was whistling as it passed
through the trees. Overall, it was the perfect day to visit the zoo. Smiling, happy children
bounded beside me as I walked underneath the large, blue and yellow sign announcing The
Colorado Zoo. As I walked onto the sidewalk, I looked out over the habitats. The big, colorful
signs advertising the exotic animals brought from all over the world! Animals that were taken
from their home, taken from their habitats, and taken to a world where they are put on display.
Animals who are forced to live out their lives in zoos in unhealthy, degrading, and devastating
ways. The first exhibit I encountered was the black bears. Their thick, glistening fur was
reflecting the light on and off as they paced the entire patch of land. Walking back and forth, the
bears footprints could be seen in the dirt as they slowly wove a path into the land. One bearwas just
lying around in the blistering sun barely moving. No trees, no bushes, and no pools of water to
allow the animals to cool down. The more I looked, the more I noticed how barren the display
was. I couldn t stop thinking how sad the entire place looked when I compared it to the bears
natural habitat, how artificial the habitat probably seemed to the bears, and how in most cases
this life was the only one the bears would ever know. There was just a round prison with limited
space, in which three enormous bears lived. Most bears in the wild are solitary creatures who
only come together for mating season, but here they were forced to spend all day with each
other. Forcing myself to continue, I made my way to the the tigers. Animals are meant to roam
miles and miles every day. These animals are contained every hour of every day in small
enclosures that prohibit the animals from following their basic instincts. Looking at the tigers, I
could very clearly see how this was affecting the animals. The tigers whole body was round and
looked like a balloon. Although it was an adorable sight, I immediately noticed that the tigers were
so fat they would roll around on the ground instead of walking. I quickly stopped smiling when I
realized just how miserable the tigers looked and

Religion Reflection
Before taking American Religious Lives, I had previously taking Mystery and Meaning, that was
my first encounter with religion. Essentially everything that we have learned in the class has been
new to me because I do not have any prior experience with American religion, since my other
Religious Studies class focused on Asian and Native American religions. Growing up I never went
to church growing up, but I was baptized, but never understood what that meant. I do no think of
myself who is involved or a part of any religion. The fact that I am unfamiliar makes the class very
challenging for me, but it is also a good type of challenge because it makes me work harder to
understand all the topics discussed in class and it makes me really have to think deeper about all
the topics. Not being associated with any religion is also helpful because I can be an outsider
and not have a biased opinion and not have to choose a side of the different religious
perspectives. Religion seems like it is a very complex topic, where a lot of religions in America
have different sects and each sect has a different background. I knew that Christianitywas the most
popular religion in America, but I did not know about all the different sects and that Christianity
as a whole is the faith of over 70% of Americans and that most of the other 30% is made up of
people who are unaffiliated with any religion. (Wormald, 1).
Another topic that I found intriguing was that most of the immigrants that come to

Analysis Of Safe Is In The Brain Of The Beholder
Amidst all of the tumultuous violence and controversy that prevalent in today s society, it is no
wonder individuals turn to their comfort zones at the end of a hectic day. Most people students
and workforce members alike feel it necessary to hole up in their safe space to escape and
rejuvenate so that they can put their best foot forward the next day. Lee Burdette Williams
explores this concept of safe spaces through a variety of points in her article Safe is in the Brain of
the Beholder . In opposition to the Dean of the University of Chicago, she encourages people to
look past their own beliefs, and attempt to understand the needs of others, whatever they may be.
Throughout her article, Williams employs common sense tactics as well... Show more content on

Throughout Williams s article, she uses logos in multiple contexts to support her main
arguments. One area readers encounter logical appeals is when the author refers to a point made
by theorists William Cross, Robert Kegan, and Marcia Magolda. Each provide support for the
idea that growth eventually occurs in all individuals. However, they also maintain that this growth
does not happen at the same time for everyone. Individuals grow with time, increased maturity,
and life experience. Most importantly, students grow at their own pace. To extend this point, the
theorists emphasize that with time, individuals learn to separate their beliefs from who they
actually are. By doing so, they are able to recognize that the opinions of others are not definitive
of who they are, resulting in an increased tolerance for and ability to understand others. In the
words of Williams (2016), We move from being our relationships to having our relationships, from
being our beliefs to having our beliefs, from being our identities to having our identities. This
statement is crucial, because although opinions and beliefs are a part of our identity, they do not
make up our entire being. Additionally, science and theory are used in an attempt to appeal to
readers logically when Williams references proven neurological fact that

Different Impacts on Religion
Close to one hundred and fifty years apart, both Louis XIV Edict of Fontainebleau and Luther s
Address to the Christian Nobility of the German Nation had an immense impact on religion. Martin
Luther s document would pave the way for the Protestant Reformation, while Louis XIV would
revoke all the freedoms that the Huguenots enjoyed in a Catholic France with the Edict of Nantes.
This essay will compare and contrast these distinctions and their impact on religion. Therefore,
although years apart, these two documents lead a paradigm shift, address what they believe to be
evils plaguing their lands, and put power in the hands of the temporal authorities.
The renowned individuals, King Louis XIV and Martin Luther, led a paradigm shift with ... Show

The Pope s anointment and all his religious rites (unction, tonsure, ordination, consecration) all
made him a puppet and not what a real leader of the Catholic Church should have been. Luther
quoted St. Peter who said, Thus we are all consecrated as, priests by baptism , which meant all
the citizens are equal under God s eyes. Every Christian is baptized and has the ability to absolve
their sins and Luther believed that with indulgences, the Church has destroyed the great virtue of
these privileges. The second wall attacked the Church considering them to be Master of
Scriptures . He felt that if the real justice of God is found in the bible, then the Pope cannot be
the only one right in interpreting scriptures. Luther explained that if this was the case, then we
must say, I believe in the Pope of Rome, and reduce the Christian Church to one man, which is a
devilish and damnable heresy. Luther went about this on his own as he translated the Bible into
German, published the 95 theses, and with the help of the printing press, made the word of God
available to thousands of people. The third and final wall, Luther believed to be the easiest to
overcome. He believed that the Church needed to be held accountable if people felt that they are
acting contrary to the scriptures. After a period of review, the German princes eventually agreed
with Luther and adopted his proposed

Is Tap Water Better
Many have asked, is bottled water better than tap? Which is better for our health? People have a
fascination with bottled water. Somehow, someone decided that tap water was not good for us
and along came the idea that bottled water is better. I believe that many of us would agree that the
taste of bottled water and the way it provides a more safer way to consume the water we need
overrides tap water. As consumers we try to make a safe decision in which water to drink but with
all the controversy, which is better? Despite thinking bottled wateris the best of the best, bottled
water companies have a public system as well, just like tap. As stated in Source two, Contrary to

Critical Thinker
Last weekend, while I was talking to our children, they said that they wanted to become
independent. In replying, I said, we want you to be independent, and that is what we expect you to
be when you grow up. What does it means working independently? It has a broader meaning, and it
requires hard work, but many youngsters who want to become independent do not have a clear idea
about it. They simply follow others.
Think independently
First, we need to understand who is an independent thinker and how he differs from others.
Independent thinkers have a critical view about the world. They are not ready to accept others
opinions as the ultimate truth, and they analyses issues in depth. Example of a critical thinker was
Lord Buddha, who refused to accept the teachings of his masters after critically analyzed their
teaching. Also, independent thinkers are not afraid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cultures, parents expect unconditional obedience from children, imposing their beliefs on
them. In school, teaches expect students to be discipline and follow instructions to the word,
discouraging critical thinking, which is a prerequisite to become and independent thinker. Almost
all the religions in the world expect their followers to adhere to their teaching blindly, and consider
those who question them as enemies. Consequently, the independent thinkers wage a war with
established believe and practices.
Therefore, in order the nurture in a challenging society, independent thinkers need to gain certain
qualities to face challenges. One of the quality is the self confidence. When a person lack
confidence in himself, the qualm creep into their minds, which restrict his ability to think
independently and force him to accept status qua. You can develop self confidence by gaining
knowledge as it encourages you to look at issues from several angles, rather than from few

Georgia And Victorian Fashion Trends
The Victorian and Georgian era are very similar in fashion ideas. Yet they were so different in a
variety of ways. Fashion was important during the Victorian and Georgian eras. These eras were
crucial and archaic. Comparing and contrasting the two different fashion styles will be helpful to
see the big picture of how their culture impacted fashion. As the years passed by, different styles
and trends kept changing. It is interesting to see the evolution of fashion from the Georgian and
Victorian eras to what is trending now, and describing their differences and similarities. John
Galliano and Lagerfeld were inspired by Marie Antoinette s fashion, many covers from popular
magazines such as Vogue were representing Marie s style and other women that caused a major
impact during both eras.
Clothing was intricate during many eras in England. The Georgian era was interesting and it was
focused on events like social dances, theatre, and other important events. It was known as the
Regency period and pastel and neutral colors were popular during that time. Marie Antoinette was
the Queen of France, set a trend called chemise a la reine . (thefashionhistorian.com). It was a dress
made out of muslin layers, and was loose with a sash belt around the waist. The women of France
and England took over this trend when Marie Antoinette started ... Show more content on

Chief Oshkosh Red Lager Campaign Analysis
This 1962 logo features the brewing company s factor, and also depicts a red Chief Oshkosh
figure wearing a war bonnet and paddling a traditional canoe alongside a white figure with a
speedboat. The red shape behind the text also remains reminiscent of an arrowhead. This logo
clearly appropriates Native American traditions and motifs and misrepresents them from no other
reason than to advertise a product. In 1991, University of Oshkosh alum Jeff Fulbright attempted
to revive the microbrew with Chief Oshkosh Red Lager , which won several awards before
competing brands once again caused the obsolescence of the brand. Despite being designed after

Put into scale, Chief Oshkosh the Brave hardly seems relevant to the course of history. The vast,
winding web of competing stories that makes up the history discipline seems not the have room for
figures who weren t necessarily earth shakers, but ultimately any figure who makes the earth move
in some way contains value in understanding. Chief Oshkosh s life, while worthy of being
understood on its own, tells a much larger story of how white Americans treat Native American
figures. Just within the Oshkosh community, three different interest groups rework his afterlife
with three different tropes for three different purposes. The general public s apathetic ignorance
contributes to the Dying Indian trope, which reinforces their apathy towards the contemporary
Native American plight. The academic institutions glorification of Chief Oshkosh depicts him as a
patriot and a Civilized Indian, undermining modern Native Americans who suffer from double
consciousness or blend their heritage with their modern world. Certain business interests in the city
reduce Chief Oshkosh to a Noble Savage to sell beer that at one point contained less that one half
of 1% alcohol content by volume, which in the short term might sell more beer but ultimately
socializes white Americans to perceive Native Americans as closer to nature and less human. In this
one historical figure, three very different fictional characters have been perpetuated. As a city, if
Oshkosh is to do its namesake justice, they must work to subvert these afterlives and recognize

Helping America s Inner City Youth
Inner city youth are the children who live in the heart of America s largest, most poverty stricken

the most likely age group to commit a crime in Detroit and the surrounding area ( Wayne County,

The Relative Importance Of Four Variables As Possible...
The Relative Importance of Four Variables as Possible Indicators of Wake Length.
Introduction
In rivers there are objects that cause more of an obstruction to the overall flow and so generate
more resistance than the surrounding grains. This is because they are larger than the bed s grains
and thus they are sometimes known as large roughness elements. Large roughness elements are an
important feature in the river bed since they block the path of the flow. Obstructions embedded in a
bed such as stones can cause flow separation which results in phenomena such as detachment of
boundary layer and turbulent wakes (Charlton, 2008, p. 81 87). The flow is separated into three
parallel flows that combine at a later point downstream. Between these ... Show more content on

Stone length shall henceforth refer to the length of the stone parallel to the overall direction of the
water flow. Stone length was determined using two measurements of length which shared the same
starting point: The upstream beginning of the artificial bed. The first was measured to the upstream
end of the stone while the second was measured to the downstream end of the stone. Stone length
was obtained by subtracting the first measurement from the second measurement. Stone protrusion
shall refer to a measurement taken perpendicular to the flow and approximately parallel to gravity.
Stone protrusion was determined using two measurements of depth: The first was the depth of the
water above the artificial bed. The second was the depth of the water above the stone. Stone
protrusion was obtained by subtracting the second depth measurement from the first depth
measurement. Stone width shall refer to the measurement taken perpendicular to the both flow and
gravity. Stone width was determined by directly measuring the stone along the widest possible
perpendicular axis to both gravity and the direction of water flow.
Empirically determining the properties of the artificial bed was neglected. However a few
properties can be estimated or stated: The smallest grain sizes in the bed were approximately
1cm. This was due to the process used for selecting grains when the artificial bed was created. The
maximum grain size did not exceed the size of any of the stones

people always had their own opinion and had found purpose in life. Morrie schwartz had found
purpose in life and learned how to live. Morrie schwartz had ALS a disease that kills people over
time. Once Morrie learned he was dying he wanted to teach the world what it was like. Morrie
teaches us how to live life by teaching us to not feel sorry for ourselves, to accept death, and to be
comfortable with showing emotions.
On the second tuesday Morrie teaches people to not feel sorry for themselves. In the morning
Morrie only gives himself a few minutes to feel sorry for himself then he looks forward to the
good thing for the day and looks forward to the people he will see that day. Mitch, I don t allow
myself any more self pity than that. A little each morning, a few tears, and that s all. (Albom 57).
I feel that people feel sorry for themselves too much and that they should limit that time and look
forward to the good things more often. Every summer I have to go to my dad which is 3 hours
away and I feel self pity because I would like to be here more with my friends, but thats why I look
forward to coming back at the end of summer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morrie believes If people can accept death than they can learn how to live and get more involved
with others. Everyone knows they re going to die ... but nobody believes it. If we did, than we
would do things differently. (albom 81). I feel like a lot of people are afraid of death and kind
of let it control their lives but maybe if they can accept it than they could do more things with
their lives. I feel that if I was to die right now than I would be upset with myself with not accepting
it and not doing things that I wanted to because I was too

Mutual Aid Agreements Are Essential For Allocating Resources
Mutual Aid Agreements Brian H. Doyle Saint Leo University Abstract Mutual aid agreements are
essential for allocating resources, equipment, and personnel between jurisdictions through
intrastate, interstate, private organizations, and nongovernmental organizations agencies in the
event of an emergency situation that exceeds the capabilities of the local agencies. Intrastate
agencies mobilized by a mutual aid agreement consist of resources within the state that can provide
support to the requesting department. During catastrophic events, interstate sources activated
through a mutual aid agreement are comprised of resources from other states that are able to
support the operations required when state resources are incapable of providing adequate aid.
Private sector organizations, nonprofit organizations, and nongovernmental organizations provide
additional support in times of crisis when the organization has necessary resources to sustain
operations. Emergency situations that may arise and benefit from the resources established in an
existing mutual aid agreement include mass casualty incidents, fire and law enforcement situations,
natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes, and terrorist attacks. Mutual Aid Agreements
provide for increased capabilities during natural disasters, terrorist events, and other emergency
situations by enabling organizations at all levels to leverage resources in their favor when the
situation exceeds the capabilities of the local

Divergent by Veronica Roth
Addicting; exhilarating; thrilling; heartbreaking. These are just a few of the words used to
describe the young adult dystopian novel Divergent that hit the shelves in 2011, and the sliver
screen on March 18th, 2014. For anyone who has seen the film, and read the book, the similarities,
and differences, between the book and movie are apparent.
In Beatrice Prior s dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to a
particular virtue Candor, the honest, Abnegation, the selfless, Dauntless, the brave, Amity, the
peaceful, and Erudite, the intelligent. Once every year, all sixteen year olds must select the faction
to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision she makes surprises
everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows the choosing ceremony, Beatrice renames
herself Tris and struggles to figure out who are really her friends and where a fling with her
older instructor fits into the life she s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she s kept hidden
from everyone because she s been warned it can mean a certain death. And as she discovers a
growing conflict that threatens to unravel the seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her
secret might help her save those she loves, or it might destroy her.
To begin, the aptitude test was fairly similar. For example, both the dog, and the choice between
different objects, and the little girl, as was in the book, was

The Reproduction of Inequality
Definitions In relation to the topic, MacLeod explains social reproduction as the theory that
explains how societal institutions perpetuate or reproduce the social relationships and attitudes
needed to sustain the existing relations of production in a capitalist society. (MacLeod 9) In this
definition, the societal institutions are places like, government offices, and schools. These
institutions according to him help continue to maintain the status quo by preserving the existing
barriers between classes. To investigate this there are two main ways to analyze the situation, one
can use the advocate deterministic model or the model that focuses more on the autonomy of the
individual. The deterministic model takes into account the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The final form of capital referenced is the cultural kind. This primarily deals with, from the section
entitled Cultural Capital and Habitus: Bourdieu s Theory of Reproduction, the general cultural
background, knowledge, disposition, and skills that are passed form one generation to the next.
(MacLeod 12) One term related to this premise is habitus, in the same article, Macleod referenced
Bourdieu in relation to this topic. Bourdieu s habitus is composed of the attitudes, beliefs, and
experiences of those inhabiting one s social world (MacLeod 13) and this combination results in
profoundly internalized beliefs and values that influence an individuals reactions toward various
aspects of life, most notable in this situation, education. What is most notable about this is how the
educational system reacts to these ideas of capital. In the article, Bourdieu comments, among all the
solutions put forward throughout history to the problem of the transmission of power and
privileges ... [the] solution which the educational system provides by contributing to the
reproduction of the structure of class relations and by concealing ... the fact that it fills this
function. (Bourdieu 72) He says this because the belief is that schools hold a neutral attitude when
it comes to the ideas of capital. It is this exact form of political correctness is continuing the cycle of
the reproduction of inequalities. An example demonstrating this is when one fills out the

My Personality Assessment Of Personality Assessments
ENFJ My Personality Assessment Jacqueline Perez Hicks Oklahoma Wesleyan University ENFJ
My Personality Assessment Personality assessments can serve as valuable tools to determine
personality types, and subsequently allow us to understand certain behavior patterns. My own
personality assessment revealed that I have an ENFJ personality type; I am an extrovert; have a
preference of intuition over sensing; have a preference of feeling versus thinking; and have a
preference of judging over perceiving (Jung, n.d.). The results of my assessment were quite
revealing, mostly accurate, with room for interpretation. Real time circumstances and the
environment have a direct impact on my behavior. According to Revelle and Condon (2015)
People differ from themselves on a moment to moment basis in that they do not think, feel or act
the same all the time. They change in their feelings, in their thoughts, in their desires and in their
actions. In this summary I will present the parallels I discovered between the results of my
assessment and the personality traits I feel I possess. I will also present my strengths and
weaknesses as they relate to each personality type code, E, N, F, and J, and how my preferences in
how I think and behave, can both positively and negatively impact my environment. Extraversion I
would classify myself as extremely extraverted and feel quite comfortable in all settings, and in

Using Secondary Data Sources In Public Health
Module 3 Professional Learning Log # 4Monica Eickmeyer The use of secondary data sources
adds another resource for public health practitioners in policy and intervention development.
Instead of just using primary resources, secondary resources may be integrated to provide robust
data collectively. Also, multiple data sources may be applied to gain a better understanding of the
public health concern. Data sets available for mortality, morbidity, health outcomes, social and
living environments can determine health needs and barriers to care. In situations where funding
resources are a concern or limited, secondary data sources may be considered and applied in
public health. If another agency has already collected the data, expenses are reduced and time is
saved. However, categories and age groups may not be available for the question you have chosen.

For example, if the secondary data reveals a rise in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
(COPD), a lung disease caused primarily by chronic cigarette smoking, then anti smoking
interventions can be aimed at specific groups. However, when applying secondary data sources, a
consideration of how and why the data was collected and for whom should be considered.
Examining trends over time provides longitudinal data about COPD and smoking to track the
success and failures of public health interventions and policies. For example, smoking policies have
been implemented through time and getting tougher for smokers to gain access to publicly
smoking in Canada. Also, data about the effects of secondary smoke may be examined to
determine if diseases related to secondhand smoke are

Drug Testing Memo
The purpose of this memorandum is, adopting a policy regarding illegal drug use in the
workplace. Employees who engage in the illegal use of drugs risk their safety, that of their
colleagues and customers. As part of the company s responsibilities, you should commit to
maintaining a healthy and happy workforce. The policy will provide a formal process to aid
employees in dealing with substances that can negatively impact or impede with work performance.
Therefore, it should be policy to pre employment testing and for cause.

My research shows that drug testing in the workplace will be beneficial to employers and
employees. Testing can allow employers to maintain productivity and contain health care costs,
essentially saving the company money. Additionally, deterring drug use and increasing motivation.
For employees, increasing morale and ensuring a safe workplace. Also, all employees are
performing his or her job competently. It s stressful when an employee has to pick up the slack for
a colleague, through no fault of their own.
Moving forward, we share a collective responsibility to ensure a safe workplace. I ask for the
finances and time necessary to create and implement this policy. The resources I will need include,
establishing a clear written substance abuse policy, selecting a drug testing lab, educating the
employees, train supervisors determine when testing is warranted and pre employment screening.
We can also obtain support from the resources SAMHSA and health benefit carriers. All things
considered, I m hopeful we can all work together and take the next steps necessary for this to be
successful. Please feel free to contact me via electronic mail and I will answer any questions you

Reduce Pain
Strategies to reduce the pain
A large number of researchers have observed that factors such as emotions, thoughts, and
expectations can have an impact on our perceptions of pain. If you think something will hurt, then
it may hurt more than expected. Moreover, the pain will get worse when you feel upset or scared.
To explain this reason, researchers Ronald Melzack and Patrick Wall proposed a theory which is
called Control Gate Control in the 1960s. This theory recommends that spinal cord contains a
neurological gate which can either allow or block pain signals to connect to the brain. According to
Melzack and Wall, This gate control theory is usually to use to explain the phantom or chronic
pain. For example, we often tend to rub ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I was a manicurist in the past, but right now I quit my job because my health is getting weaker and

The Great Dictator s Speech By Charlie Chaplin
In The Great Dictator s Speech spoken by Charlie Chaplin, a famous actor in the early 20th
century, seems to talk about the evils in the world and how mankind should all unite and make
peace with one another without the need for war, death, and petty rivalries. However, the goal
of the speaker in this speech actually points towards his desire to gain power, which he will then
abuse as it is written in the name, The Great Dictators Speech. The main purpose of the speech
itself is to inform people and all of humanity has the power of themselves rather than a dictator.
In other words: Freedom and peace in the world. Chaplin s character talks of how man has
fallen, succumbed to greed and misery, which then turns into war and bloodshed. He uses this to
convince people they all must set aside their differences to unite as one to prevent future
struggles in the world. In his first quote Chaplin says, We all want to help one another. human
beings are like that. We want to live by each other s happiness not by each other s misery. We
don t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. He is stating
in this text that the world would be a better place should people work together and exercise the
love of looking out for one another. If men weren t so preoccupied with greed and self
gratification, negative emotions like hate and misery would cease. The next quote states, The hate
of men will pass, and dictators will die, and the power they

Comparison Of The Article Dignity And Dreams
Introduction The question of concern in the article, Dignity and Dreams (Sykes, 2015), was
whether the Earned Income Tax Credit [EITC] provided families with enough support to
progress financially just over the poverty line. While This was an important focus there was a
The emphasis on how the family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an
active factor. Likewise, in the second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a
concern about a consumer s reluctant choice to spend a check depending on its label. They
specifically tracked spending patterns of consumers receiving either a Rebate (a loss) check or a
bonus (a gain) check and documented whether they spent a larger portion of the check or saved
more of it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or would the recipients spend a surplus of money if thought to be a bonus check? Sykes (2015)
had found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly
lump sum from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a
responsible family should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were
given leeway for. Such as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given
limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it
possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families
to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using
government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it
difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I strongly believe that this article found what they set
out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but
since the population interviewed and tracked was so small it s difficult to believe that all families
in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking variables consisted of past programs
impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC program. These past programs have
altered the way of thinking for some people. The

What Are The Causes Of Desmoid Tumors
The most common causes linked to desmoid tumors are genetics. Parents pass on the inherited gene
called beta catenin to the offspring. Another form of this mutated genes causing this condition are
associated with familial adenomatous polyposis is an inherited form of colon cancer.
In some cases, the tumor does occur randomly with no association to genetics or other existing

of the body, unlike an aggressive fibromatosis condition also referred to as desmoid tumors outside
the abdomen.
The high levels of hormones during pregnancy raise the risks desmoid tumors. In this stance, the
cause of the tumor is a result of the abdominal wall expanding to accommodate the developing

Graphs are an important way to communicate and visualize trends and patterns that are otherwise
difficult to identify and gain valuable insight into a given relation or problem in this way.
Information when given in the form of tables can be easily graphed and be used to make
educated predictions and decisions. A graph, like an equation, is the language that best helps
recognize the relationship, which exists between the variables involved in a situation. Graphs, like
languages, have specific rules, some of which date back to ancient civilizations. It is believed that
the coordinate system was first used in ancient times for urban planning, surveying, and astronomy
in the old Egyptian and Babylonian civilizations. For thousands of years, the rectangular
coordinate system was used, not exactly the way we know it today. It was not until the 1600s,
when it was rediscovered by the mathematicians of the time that geometric problems could be
solved by using algebraic equations and vice versa. Rene Descartes (1596 1650) and Pierre Fermat
(1601 1665) are credited with being the first mathematicians in taking such an approach. This
approach evolved over time into the Cartesian coordinate system, as it is known today.

Symbolism In The Rocking Horse Winner
Fortune is the enemy of human morality. If not careful, a person who places complete trust in luck
can lose focus on the important things in life. This idea that our lives are governed by an
uncontrollable force consumes us in ways that most people do not come to terms with. D.H.
Lawrence uses compelling imagery in the Rocking HorseWinner to create an insight of dark fortune.
He accomplishes this through the relationship of the mother and her children, the use of the rocking
horse, and the conflict of luckwithin Paul. Lawrence continually emphasizes the non existent
relationship between the mother and her children. He begins by telling us that the children had
been thrust upon her, and she could not love them . This sets the tone for the rest of the story; a
desire for good fortune makes the children seem like underappreciated burdens. Several times the
mother says things to the children with bitterness in her voice as if they inconvenience her.
Only the mother and her children know of the loveless hard little place in the mother s heart.
They read it in each other s eyes . The simple act of leaving the apathy unspoken creates a sense
of despair for both parties. The mother fills this gap in their lives by becoming obsessed with
money and blaming all of their misery on bad luck. In turn, the children follow her example and
become consumed by this belief as well. The desire is so great that the house came to be haunted
by the unspoken phrase: there must be more

The amendments to the Income tax Act, in 1939, made two vital structural changes: (i) appellate
functions were separated from administrative functions; a class of officers, known as Appellate
Assistant Commissioners, thus came into existence, and (ii) a central charge was created in
Bombay. In 1940, with a view to exercising effective control over the progress and inspection of
the work of Income tax Department throughout India, the very first attached office of the Board,
called Directorate of Inspection (Income Tax) was created. As a result of separation of executive
and judicial functions, in 1941, the Appellate Tribunal came into existence. In the same year, a
central charge was created in Calcutta also.
3.1 World War II brought unusual profits to businessmen. During 1940 to 1947, Excess Profits
Tax and Business Profits Tax were introduced and their administration handed over to the
Department (These were later repealed in 1946 and 1949 respectively). In 1951, the 1st Voluntary
Disclosure Scheme was brought in. It was during this period, in 1946, that a few Group A officers
were directly recruited. Later on in 1953, the Group A Service was formally constituted as the
Indian Revenue Service .

A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing comprehensive knowledge of their respective sensory world. Here we attempted to determine the sensory threshold for a response to sweetness in both the flesh fly Sarcophaga bullata and Homo sapiens. Flies and humans alike were exposed to increasingly concentrated solutions of glucoseand monitored for a positive response, indicative of the detection of sweetness. Results from our experiment strongly indicate the population threshold for sweetness detection in S. bullata resides at a glucose solution concentration level of 1%, while humans exhibited an increased sweetness sensitivity, with the population threshold appearing at 0.1%. However, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al. 2004). Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be most responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al. 1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata. Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. For example, while Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that a sucrose concentration above 3% was sufficient to induce a positive sweetness detection rate of close to 60% in a population of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated the H. sapiens population response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%. Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate sweeteners in the human diet, has generated an industry of artificial sweeteners commonly utilized by H. ... The man that they say planted the first wine was known by the name Francisco Aguirre (H. Johnson J. Robinson, 2005:297 299). The vines that came from Spanish established vineyards had black grapes and was bought to Mexico by Hernan Cortes in 1520. The grapes that was being produced that time was cultivated by Jesuit priests, because they used the wine that was being produced to celebrate the Eucharist. The distribution of black grapes was described in the 16th century by Alonso de Ovalle that was from Chile (J. Robinson, 2006:163 167). The way that the sweetness of the wine were made was because the wine was boiled and that helped to concentrate the must of the grapes (J. Robinson, 2006:163 167). Chile s history was mostly influenced by the French mostly the Bordeaux winemaking. The phylloxera epidemic made Chile deide to import vines from France. The Chilean Silvestre Errazuriz imported Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carbernet Franc, Malbec, Sauvignon blanc and SГ©millon. The Chilean went so far as Germany to experiment with Riesling (H. Johnson, 1989:432 434). In the 20th century the Chileans started to transport wine to Argentina, but there was too much problems with the transport and they struggled to export wines. They agreed on building a railway between Chile and Argentina in 1909 that made the transport of the wine much easier (Lacoste, Pablo. 2004). There came a time in the 20th century were the wine of Chile was considered as bad quality wine in the 1980s. Chile had great conditions for viticulture practises and the people realized it and started to invest in the wine of Chile. Chile then became the third leading exporter of wine after France and Italy ( K.MacNeil, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Colonialism And New Imperialism New Imperialism was the third wave of colonial expansion, precursored by Catholic colonialism in the sixteenth century and Mercantile colonialism in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. As the nineteenth century began, it became apparent that Europe and the United States were the dominant forces of the world, and that they were in control of defining global society. Proponents of New Imperialism believed that modern expansionism was necessary for economic, political, and cultural purposes that would benefit their own country. Furthermore, proponents also believed that colonization would modernize and incite progress in the civilizations outside of Europe and the United States. Nonetheless, New Imperialism established deep lines of contempt regarding Western power, marked with violence, throughout the world. Therefore, New Imperialism was a paltry act done by the Western world which seems to have produced little benefit. New Imperialism took place from 1870 to 1914. The Western world, including most of Europe, the United States, and Japan, were primed to dominate the rest of the world. The Enlightenment rationale combined with a Romantic love of country, which resulted in an explosive combination of ferocious nationalism (Lecture Transcript). Each country used imperialism to broaden their nations and compete with each other. Michael Johnson stated that as nationalism grew into a more potent force in the nineteenth century, it became the source of increased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With a rocket, I am attempting to test run and optimize the best design the allows the rocket to have an outstanding altitude and velocity. During this process of trial and error, I have organized my results by marking them down on multiple data table. I picked the variable of the cone on/off, percentage filled with water, and size of bottle as my three most critical variables. I picked them because during the runs where I was testing these variables, the altitude and velocity had significant changes every time. There were some variables such as ballast weight and temperature at launch that didn t have as drastic changes with each run so they were not as important. One thing that noticed is that the velocity was consistently higher than the altitude so when testing it, I was more focused on raising the altitude. As that is a great movie, it s not nearly the full story of William Wallace. Therefore, a hunt for the truth of the real the story was underway. William Wallace was born in 1270 s in Scotland, but not much is known about his childhood but that he lived with his father, Sir Malcom Wallace, on a small piece of land in Scotland. (BBC) and (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica) This is dock number one on the movie. Although some may say, Shame on you Hollywood, for making up the childhood of this remarkable history hero , At the time of Wallace s childhood, Scotland was starting its decline into succession when it was taken over by England. Therefore, the stories could, in fact, be true, although no evidence proves it. As Wallace grew up he learned how to fight battles logically, which overtime made him grow very respected with the men he met. He was taught to think before he would speak. He was a natural born leader and would hold his position firmly. This led to battles won where he had very few men, but a very passionate and trusting crew because Wallace was their leader. In 1296, the king of England, Edward I, took advantage of the succession in Scotland and declared himself as ruler of Scotland with English administration. Only a few revolts had taken place when sheriffs were subject to different areas of Scotland, and even fewer were successful. So far it seems as though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout most of my ecomap, I mostly have positive feedback but also have a few negative feedbacks. Systems tend to move from a simple form to a more complex form. This is known as differentiation. • 14. Negative Effects Of Red Meat Meat is an important staple in human diets and nutrition, but not every type of meat is healthy. Red meat is defined as meat that is red when it is raw, for example beef or lamb. It is consumed in mass amounts all over the world, although there are risks involved in consuming so much red meat. Previous research has connected red meatto increased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. It also causes an increased risk of mortality. The components put into meat, whether processed or unprocessed, adds to these risks and is unhealthy to put in the body. However, there are some benefits to eating red meat such as getting vitamins and minerals like B 12 and iron as well as using it as a source of protein. Too much red meat consumption negatively affects people s health by causing health problems, creating increased risk for diseases and certain cancers through the processing of the meat as well as how the body reacts to it. There are many risks when people eat high levels of red meat. A study suggests that consumption of red meat and heart disease are tied together because of gut microbes breaking down carnitine, which helps metabolism and is found in red meat. These microbes help break down food, in the process forming small compounds. One of these compounds is trimethylamine, which when metabolized forms trimethylamine N oxide (TMAO). Law enforcement is obligated to follow the protocols and procedures outlined by the U.S. Supreme Court; if law enforcement does not follow the laws, perpetrators could be released and free to commit more crimes. Proving probable cause and reasonable suspicion are imperative to avoid violating the rights of citizens. The police need only reasonable suspicion to stop an individual and question him or her, and they may search for weapons if they believe that the person is armed or presents an imminent threat of bodily harm (Taylor, 2012). Reasonable suspicion is when a law enforcement personnel presumes a crime has been or is about to be committed. For instance, a police officer observes a vehicle driving unusually faster than the others on the road, therefore performing a speed check using radar. The car is, in fact, speeding so the officer pursues the vehicle and pulls them over. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer notices the suspect scrambling and whispering while leaning around the car. This causes suspicion, reasonable suspicion, which allows the officer to ask the person out of the vehicle to detain them. It also gives the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Radioactive Waste Of Radioactive Wastes INTRODUCTION Radioactive waste contains radioactive substances, which are used for the production of nuclear power and in other scientific fields such as nuclear fission or nuclear technology (Hidaka, Yuan, and ebrary, 2012). Currently, although the use of radioactive materials has provided great benefits to society, the radioactive waste issue has been widely discussed in terms of being a huge problem that may affect natural environmental systems, and also human health (Ojovan Knovel, 2011). According to Sartori (2013), efficient radioactive waste management systems are needed to provide safe isolation from the contact with the ecosystem as long as necessary to reduce effects on biological systems; and it involves many steps such as treatment, conditioning, transportation, storage and disposal of all categories of radioactive wastes, including administrative, operational and safety related actions (The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation ANSTO, 2011). It is known that radioactive waste management activities have to follow current regulations, which are directly related to waste characterisation that involves radioactive waste classification. Due to the importance of radioactive waste, this report addresses a literature review of the management of radioactive waste. When thinking of Machiavelli many people confuse him together with the names of rulers who have abused his writings. It also seems other people confuse Machiavelli with the rapper who took his name. Either way people confuse Machiavelli it seems they fail to look at his true message, bettering the state and the greater good. When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to hurt some? Machiavelli is not against all that is good. Machiavelli, although thought to be, is not against religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have overlooked in his philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God in his passage Although one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what God Commanded, yet he must be praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with God. But let us consider Cyrus and the others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions, when examined, do not seem to differ from Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too could be Machiavelli simply covering his tracks so he does not seem blasphemous and the punishment that would come with being blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses when he could have been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must found a state that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and The Discourses. The question though is how can a prince make himself obsolete or should he make himself completely obsolete? The answer is no he can not make himself completely obsolete. • 23. Descriptive Essay About The Zoo The sun was shining, the sky was spotted with clouds, and the wind was whistling as it passed through the trees. Overall, it was the perfect day to visit the zoo. Smiling, happy children bounded beside me as I walked underneath the large, blue and yellow sign announcing The Colorado Zoo. As I walked onto the sidewalk, I looked out over the habitats. The big, colorful signs advertising the exotic animals brought from all over the world! Animals that were taken from their home, taken from their habitats, and taken to a world where they are put on display. Animals who are forced to live out their lives in zoos in unhealthy, degrading, and devastating ways. The first exhibit I encountered was the black bears. Their thick, glistening fur was reflecting the light on and off as they paced the entire patch of land. Walking back and forth, the bears footprints could be seen in the dirt as they slowly wove a path into the land. One bearwas just lying around in the blistering sun barely moving. No trees, no bushes, and no pools of water to allow the animals to cool down. The more I looked, the more I noticed how barren the display was. I couldn t stop thinking how sad the entire place looked when I compared it to the bears natural habitat, how artificial the habitat probably seemed to the bears, and how in most cases this life was the only one the bears would ever know. There was just a round prison with limited space, in which three enormous bears lived. Most bears in the wild are solitary creatures who only come together for mating season, but here they were forced to spend all day with each other. Forcing myself to continue, I made my way to the the tigers. Animals are meant to roam miles and miles every day. These animals are contained every hour of every day in small enclosures that prohibit the animals from following their basic instincts. Looking at the tigers, I could very clearly see how this was affecting the animals. The tigers whole body was round and looked like a balloon. Although it was an adorable sight, I immediately noticed that the tigers were so fat they would roll around on the ground instead of walking. I quickly stopped smiling when I realized just how miserable the tigers looked and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essentially everything that we have learned in the class has been new to me because I do not have any prior experience with American religion, since my other Religious Studies class focused on Asian and Native American religions. Growing up I never went to church growing up, but I was baptized, but never understood what that meant. I do no think of myself who is involved or a part of any religion. The fact that I am unfamiliar makes the class very challenging for me, but it is also a good type of challenge because it makes me work harder to understand all the topics discussed in class and it makes me really have to think deeper about all the topics. Not being associated with any religion is also helpful because I can be an outsider and not have a biased opinion and not have to choose a side of the different religious perspectives. Religion seems like it is a very complex topic, where a lot of religions in America have different sects and each sect has a different background. I knew that Christianitywas the most popular religion in America, but I did not know about all the different sects and that Christianity as a whole is the faith of over 70% of Americans and that most of the other 30% is made up of people who are unaffiliated with any religion. Throughout Williams s article, she uses logos in multiple contexts to support her main arguments. One area readers encounter logical appeals is when the author refers to a point made by theorists William Cross, Robert Kegan, and Marcia Magolda. Each provide support for the idea that growth eventually occurs in all individuals. However, they also maintain that this growth does not happen at the same time for everyone. Individuals grow with time, increased maturity, and life experience. Most importantly, students grow at their own pace. To extend this point, the theorists emphasize that with time, individuals learn to separate their beliefs from who they actually are. By doing so, they are able to recognize that the opinions of others are not definitive of who they are, resulting in an increased tolerance for and ability to understand others. In the words of Williams (2016), We move from being our relationships to having our relationships, from being our beliefs to having our beliefs, from being our identities to having our identities. This statement is crucial, because although opinions and beliefs are a part of our identity, they do not make up our entire being. The Pope s anointment and all his religious rites (unction, tonsure, ordination, consecration) all made him a puppet and not what a real leader of the Catholic Church should have been. Luther quoted St. Peter who said, Thus we are all consecrated as, priests by baptism , which meant all the citizens are equal under God s eyes. Every Christian is baptized and has the ability to absolve their sins and Luther believed that with indulgences, the Church has destroyed the great virtue of these privileges. The second wall attacked the Church considering them to be Master of Scriptures . He felt that if the real justice of God is found in the bible, then the Pope cannot be the only one right in interpreting scriptures. Luther explained that if this was the case, then we must say, I believe in the Pope of Rome, and reduce the Christian Church to one man, which is a devilish and damnable heresy. Luther went about this on his own as he translated the Bible into German, published the 95 theses, and with the help of the printing press, made the word of God available to thousands of people. The third and final wall, Luther believed to be the easiest to overcome. He believed that the Church needed to be held accountable if people felt that they are acting contrary to the scriptures. Chief Oshkosh s life, while worthy of being understood on its own, tells a much larger story of how white Americans treat Native American figures. Just within the Oshkosh community, three different interest groups rework his afterlife with three different tropes for three different purposes. The general public s apathetic ignorance contributes to the Dying Indian trope, which reinforces their apathy towards the contemporary Native American plight. The academic institutions glorification of Chief Oshkosh depicts him as a patriot and a Civilized Indian, undermining modern Native Americans who suffer from double consciousness or blend their heritage with their modern world. Certain business interests in the city reduce Chief Oshkosh to a Noble Savage to sell beer that at one point contained less that one half of 1% alcohol content by volume, which in the short term might sell more beer but ultimately socializes white Americans to perceive Native Americans as closer to nature and less human. In this one historical figure, three very different fictional characters have been perpetuated. • 39. The Relative Importance Of Four Variables As Possible... The Relative Importance of Four Variables as Possible Indicators of Wake Length. Introduction In rivers there are objects that cause more of an obstruction to the overall flow and so generate more resistance than the surrounding grains. This is because they are larger than the bed s grains and thus they are sometimes known as large roughness elements. Large roughness elements are an important feature in the river bed since they block the path of the flow. Obstructions embedded in a bed such as stones can cause flow separation which results in phenomena such as detachment of boundary layer and turbulent wakes (Charlton, 2008, p. 81 87). The flow is separated into three parallel flows that combine at a later point downstream. Between these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Intrastate agencies mobilized by a mutual aid agreement consist of resources within the state that can provide support to the requesting department. Private sector organizations, nonprofit organizations, and nongovernmental organizations provide additional support in times of crisis when the organization has necessary resources to sustain operations. Emergency situations that may arise and benefit from the resources established in an existing mutual aid agreement include mass casualty incidents, fire and law enforcement situations, natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes, and terrorist attacks. The results of my assessment were quite revealing, mostly accurate, with room for interpretation. Real time circumstances and the environment have a direct impact on my behavior. For families in Welfare who were given limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I strongly believe that this article found what they set out to look for. • 54. Symbolism In The Rocking Horse Winner Fortune is the enemy of human morality. If not careful, a person who places complete trust in luck can lose focus on the important things in life. This idea that our lives are governed by an uncontrollable force consumes us in ways that most people do not come to terms with. D.H. Lawrence uses compelling imagery in the Rocking HorseWinner to create an insight of dark fortune. He accomplishes this through the relationship of the mother and her children, the use of the rocking horse, and the conflict of luckwithin Paul. Lawrence continually emphasizes the non existent relationship between the mother and her children. He begins by telling us that the children had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them . This sets the tone for the rest of the story; a desire for good fortune makes the children seem like underappreciated burdens. Several times the mother says things to the children with bitterness in her voice as if they inconvenience her. Only the mother and her children know of the loveless hard little place in the mother s heart. They read it in each other s eyes . The simple act of leaving the apathy unspoken creates a sense of despair for both parties. The mother fills this gap in their lives by becoming obsessed with money and blaming all of their misery on bad luck. In turn, the children follow her example and become consumed by this belief as well. The desire is so great that the house came to be haunted by the unspoken phrase: there must be more ...
