The Juvenile Delinquent
Juvenile delinquent has different terms, but many may see it as groups of young boys and men
standing on a street corner, wearing baggy outfits, and boasting defiant attitudes. Many will be
surprised to learn that the juvenile delinquent is slowly changing. The boys are more responsible
for the majority of the crimes overall, the number of juvenile females involved with the justice
system has been steadily increasing over the past three decades (Gross 84). There has been a
growth in the number of detention, arrest, cases processed, and subsequent long term incarceration
rates among females, but since research about female s offenders are generally lacking, no one
knows the clear understanding of the causes. In the juvenile system, girls have... Show more content

Staph infections can spread from person to person in group living situations (like college dorms).
Usually this happens when people with skin infections share personal things like bed linens, towels,
or clothing. Warm, humid environments can contribute to staph infections (Staph, 2016). Infections
from the staph families are especially common in teens and young adults due to the amount of
sharing and touching this age group do. It is important to educate adolescents about the damage that
a staph infection can have on the body. Americans should also be diligent about having good
hygiene in order to reduce the chance of getting an infection.
The staph infections can range from somber to flesh eating infections. A common skin condition
that staph is able to cause is cellulitis. It is more common in people who have a weakened immune
system such as people who are immunocompromised, infants, and the elderly. Cellulitis is
characterized by a red, warm patch on the skin paired with a fever. The bacteriathat cause cellulitis
can spread rapidly, entering lymph nodes and your bloodstream. Recurrent episodes of cellulitis
may cause chronic swelling of the affected limb (Mayo, 2015). Cellulitis is spread extremely
easily, and is a big issue within long term care facilities. The infection can be cured by antibiotics.
However, there are cases reported stating that cellulitis is becoming resistant to some antibiotics.

The Importance Of Direct-To-Consumer Advertising
doctors to prescribe these drugs which may not even truly be necessary for a patient. Whenever a
drug company develops a new product, pharmaceutical representatives meet with physicians to
explain the benefits and risks of the drug and encourage prescribing it for the specific ailment. In
regards to FDA guidelines, the relationship between physicians and pharmaceutical representatives
has been closely examined ( Pharmaceutical Industry). As an article in the April issue of the New
England Journal of Medicinestates about the concern of bribing doctors, this promotion is an
ongoing concern, because several studies have indicated that it has a significant effect on the

consumer advertising has escalated throughout the past few years and drug marketers in 2014
spent $4.5 billion marketing their prescription drugs to consumers, up from 3.5 billion in 2012
(Millman, 2015). This is a significant increase since prescription drugs are now being advertised
in every aspect of our daily lives. Drugs such as Claritin for use of allergies, and Singulair for
Asthma that have been transformed from pedestrian to blockbuster drugs as part of DTC

According to a survey, 50% believed that DTC advertisements had to be pre approved by the
government and only 43% thought that only completely safe drugs were allowed to be advertised

The Age Of Reason By Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine was an influential 18th century writer of essays and pamphlets. Among them were
The Age of Reason, regarding the place of religion in society; Rights of Man, a piece defending the
French Revolution; and Common Sense, which was published during the American Revolution.
Common Sense, Paine s most influential piece, brought his ideas to a vast audience, swaying (the
otherwise undecided) public opinion to the view that independence from the British was a
necessity. Thomas Painewas born in England in 1737, to a Quaker father and an Anglican mother.
Paine received little formal education, but did learn to read, write and perform arithmetic. At
the age of 13, he began working with his father as stay maker (the thick rope stays used on
sailing ships) and he later worked as an officer of the excise, hunting smugglers, and collecting
liquor and tobacco taxes. He did not excel at this job, nor at any other early job, and his life in
England was, in fact, marked by repeated failures. To compound his professional hardships,
around 1760, Paine s wife and child both died in childbirth, and his business, that of making stay
ropes, went under. In the summer of 1772, Paine published The Case of the Officers of Excise, a
21 page article in defense of higher pay for excise officers. It was his first political work, and he
spent that winter in London, handing out the 4,000 copies of the article to members of Parliament
and other citizens. In spring of 1774, Paine was

New Orleans Chooses Home Rule Charter
New Orleans Chooses Home Rule Charter
The city of New Orleans is governed by a Home Rule Charter. The Home Rule gives a
municipality the power and authority to determine how it city should be governed. Without this
power a state can make it difficult for a city to function. It can be because of political differences,
old grudges, or just because it can. The state can cause economic and financial hardship. The
Municipality can be given as much or as little power as the state sees fit, because municipalities
are creatures of the state. Before a Home Rule Charter came into effect, there were several
charters before it. The territorial legislature granted New Orleans its first Charter in 1805 and it
went into effect the following year. It consisted of a Mayor appointed by the Governor for a
term of one year. The council consisted of two members from each ward, they were elected for a
term of two years. The Mayor had certain powers. Most of these changes lasted until 1836. After
the adoption of the 1805 charter New Orleans was considered an American City after having been a
European outpost on American soil for almost a century. In 1836 the 1805 charter was amended.
The significant changes provided the city s government be divided into three municipalities. There
was still only one Mayor, but there was a council for each municipality. But, with some authority
remained with the central government. The most recognizable change to the city s charter of 1836
was the change

What Are The Three Philosophies Of Legalism
Philosophies are logical studies of basic truths about values, knowledge, and ultimately, the
world. China had three primary philosophies which were considered as religions: Legalism
Confucianism, and Daoism. These 3 main philosophies shaped China s government and history.
Legalism is the belief that a powerful yet efficient government accompanied by a strict legal
system is the key to order in society. One thing Legalists fear is disorder in society; that is why
they believe order is important. This philosophy arose during the time of the Warring States, when
kingdoms fought for control it was created in hope that, if China adopted a strong government
which enforced strict laws, just like in Legalism, China s order would be restored, and its problems
would be solved. Yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was similar to Legalists, in that he wanted to restore order. Nevertheless, his ideas differed on
conflict resolution and peace in relationships. He believed that respect for and of others was
essential for peace and order, and that government leaders should exhibit virtue. Confucius also
emphasized education, believing it was of extreme importance for others to be educated. The
Analects is a book created by Confucius disciples containing all of Confucius teachings;
combined they form the set of beliefs known as Confucianism. There were 5 basic relationships:
father and son; elder brother and younger brother; husband and wife; friend and friend; and ruler
and subject. All of the relationships fall into 2 categories: proper conduct in the family and
proper conduct in society. Now we delve into a primary source The Analects: The filial piety of

The Sports And Entertainment Organization
As an Executive in the Monumental Sports and Entertainment organization, I have been tasked with
the responsibility to analyze the upcoming culmination of our broadcasting contract with CSN Mid
Atlantic. Currently, we have a partnership with CSN for the broadcasts of the Washington Capitals
and Washington Wizards games. The Capitals contract is coming to an end after the 2016/2017
season and the Wizards contract is not until after the 2020/2021 season. With all the specifics of
the current partnership in the favor of CSN s (Steinberg, 2014), our organization has reached out
with them to talk about restructuring our deal, but had no luck as of date.
Monumental Sports and Entertainment is an enterprise that showcases both sports organizations,

content and provides fans with all news in DC sports. It currently does not broadcast Wizards or
Capitals games.
We have explored the option of broadcasting the games in house and through Monumental Network.
Majority owner of Monumental and both teams, Ted Leonsis expects that Monumental Network
could one day broadcast Caps and Wizards games, in addition to other local programming. Leonsis
would like to wait until Monumental is a little but more profitable because he is dealing with player

The juvenile corrections system dates back to the Greek and Roman times where children were
treated as adults when they committed offenses. In fact, children in trouble had no rights would
receive very harsh sentences. Moving forward, Europe also treated children as adult when it came
to criminal offenses. It wasn t until the 19th century that reforms began to be considered and used

Two years ago, in Eden, North Carolina, thousands of tons of coal ash and twenty seven million
gallons of contaminated water spilled into the Dan River. This coal ash spill is known to be the
third worst coal ash spill to occur in all of the United States. When the waste of coal after it

The Other Side Of The Sky Farah Ahmedi Analysis
To undertake a mission means to set a goal for yourself means to set a goal for yourself to
accomplish. People are determined and work hard to reach their goals. For example, Farah
Ahmedi climbed a mountain on a prosthetic leg to reach freedom. Aengus traveled long and hard
to find love. Rikki Tikki Tavi was determined on killing the snakes and saving his new family.
These characters had different reasons for pursuing their goals and doing what they did. Ahmedi
wanted freedom, Rikki Tikki wanted to protect his new family, and Aengus was set on finding
love; however all three shared the determination to accomplish their goal. Farah Ahmedi The
Other Side of the Sky by Farah Ahmedi is a truly inspiring story about a girl and her mother s
journey to reach freedom. They were Afghans, living in a dangerous city and their only hope was
to escape to Pakistan. Once they finally reached the border, there was already people there ..pushing
and shoving and jostling up against the gate (Ahmedi 11). However, its gates were closed to
refugees, so Ahmedi and her mother were now stranded in the desert. Through that, Ahmedi was
still determined on getting to Pakistan and learned that the secret to getting across the border was to
bribe the guards, but they had no money. During this dire situation, Ahmedi made friends with
another family who took pity on them. Ghulam Ali, the father, learned about a smuggler s path and
agreed to take Ahmedi and her mother pass. Going up the mountain,

references to both the ancient and modern world.
Leisure is something that most people enjoy. Whether it s going away for a weekend spa break,
taking long walks, or spending a day off fixing an old car, the way we experience leisure varies
from person to person. As Jon Pike points in Chapter 1, some activities may not seem like leisure to
some people. Taking long walks could seem like a way to make yourself exercise more, for
example. But if you go for walks for no other reason than you enjoy it, the activity becomes leisure.
In this essay, I will be looking closely at leisure activities from both the ancient world, and the
modern one, and discussing how social status impacted on the way people experienced leisure. I
will start by discussing leisure amongst the Romans, giving brief examples of what they did for
leisure, then moving on to talk about if, or how, social status amongst them affected their
experience of it. Then, I will move on to discuss leisure in the modern world, again, giving brief
examples of what we do for leisure, then talking about whether or not social status affects how we
experience it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ability Grouping
Ability grouping is a widely spread practice used among many educators today. Between class
grouping is by far one of the most commonly used types of ability grouping. The goal of this
grouping is for each class to be made up of students who are homogeneous in standardized
intelligence or achievement test scores (Snowman, Biehler). In this type of grouping, the schools
separate their students into different classes or courses. Between class ability grouping is where
students spend most of the day in ability groups and use the same or similar curriculum
substantially adjusted to their ability levels (Ability Grouping 3). For example, in elementary
schools, students from the same grade levels may be grouped by ability for reading and... Show

This being said, there are a number of disadvantages as well. One such example is the fact that the
regrouping plan takes a considerable amount of time for planning. Teachers have to be very
cooperative and must be in agreement with one another. Another disadvantage is that teachers and
students meet with one another less frequently. [В…] Many teachers are uncomfortable working
with children whom they see only once a day for an hour or so (Snowman, 2003, p.186).
Although a derivative of the regrouping method, the Joplin Plan is perhaps the most unique of
the four types of ability grouping due to its process of cross grade grouping. A variation of the
regrouping method, the Joplin Plan is also known as the simplest form of ability groups. This
grouping plan assigns students to heterogeneous classes for most of the day, but regroups them
across grade levels for reading instruction (Hollifield 2000). This is in effort to group students for
reading instruction on the basis of ability level, regardless of age or grade. An example of the
Joplin plan would be to group all third, fourth, and fifth graders whose grade equivalent scores in
reading are 4.6. The same can (and usually is) done for mathematics. According to Gary Hopkins of
Education World Magazine, grouping students as a class by ability for all subjects doesn t improve
achievement , however, grouping

Question set 1 1. Who can sign a medical release form (authorization) to obtain PHI? According
to Gartee (2011), Privately Held Information is meant to be safeguarded, but there are times
when the information in them is needed for varied purposes. When that is the case, then
authorization can be given by the patient or the healthcare provided. A patient that is
incapacitated will need a guardian to sign. At the same time, a minor can also use a guardian to
sign the release form on behalf of the patient. Within the release form, there should be the name
of the facility with holding the PHI; the specific information needed to be released, the name of
the person the PHI is released to and the purpose of the release (Iyer et al., 2006). 2. What are the

Misappropriation of PHI involves staff of the health facilities or any other person that is not
authorized to have the health information of another. For that the penalties according to the US

Who Is Harley Quinn In The Suicide Squad
The Suicide Squad is a film that was first released in 2016 and directed by Zack Snyder. The
movie revolves on the accomplishment of a government s high risk mission. On the other hand,

Essay on The Role of Media During the Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War, Americans were greatly influenced by the extensive media coverage of
the war. Before the 1960 s and the intensification of the war, public news coverage of military
action was constrained heavily by the government and was directed by Government policy. The
Vietnam War uniquely altered the perception of war in the eyes of American citizens by bringing
the war into their homes. The Vietnam War was the first U.S uncensored war resulting in the
release of graphic images and unaltered accounts of horrific events that helped to change public
opinion of the war like nothing it had ever been. This depiction by the media led to a separation

major point of divide between the government and the media, the media turned to the word of
angry South Vietnamese officials, angry U.S advisors, and hostile American pilots who risked their

Furthermore, Americans placed trust in the presence of pictures, for they could see it happen.

constructed in order to judge a person s value based on physical attractiveness; therefore, it is
highly encouraged that people pay attention to their looks and take care of themselves, in order
for others to create a positive first impression of one s character. It is no secret that beauty
standards vary from one culture to the next and it is difficult to establish a universal principle of

It is not uncommon that you ll hear Puerto Ricans refer to themselves as the mutts of the Spanish
community, this is because of the island s history. Soon after Christopher Columbus discovered the
island in 1493, it became known as the rich port for the Spanish or Puerto Rico, due to the fact that
it produced mass amounts of cattle, sugar cane, tobacco, and coffee, especially considering the
island s size. Such prosperity and wealth opened the door for the slave trade to enter the colony,
and as a result Puerto Rican bloodlines and cultures evolved not only from the Spanish, but also

How Long Does It Take to Stop a Forest Fore Based on the...
Investigation Plan
Introduction
I will be conducting an experiment which involves burning a forest to test the progression of the
forest fire in relation to the high density of trees in the forest. The general hypothesis in this case
would suggest the higher the density of trees, the further the fire would progress. I will be
conducting various tests to test this hypothesis. The variable that I will be changing is the
population of trees within the forest. To carry out this experiment I will be using a simulation
which is created by the use of a Net Logo environment.
Method
To carry out this experiment I will use various tree densities to test how much of the forest will
burn. I will be using the ticks to see how long it would take for ... Show more content on

The results are showing that as the density is decreasing so is the percentage being burnt. This
time the ticks increased showing the time taken to burn has increased. However, in this table I have
got an outlier. This outlier could have been caused by human fault. The outlier shows that this piece
of result wasn t accurate as it is totally different from the rest of the repeats.

The table above shows that an average of 1.5% of the trees got burnt when the tree density was

have also decreased.

The table above shows that the average percentage of the tree s being burnt is 0.6% when the
tree density was only 25%. The ticks show an average of 40.4. If you compare this table to the
table with a density of 99% you can see there has been a significant drop in the percentage burnt as
well as the ticks.
The density of trees from 60% to 50% shows a significant change in the percentage burnt as well
as ticks. The average percentage burnt for the density 60% was 66.9% whereas for the density

The Theme Of Forbidden Love And Conflicts In Shakespeare s...
Around 30 B.C, Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, and Roman general and politician, Mark
Anthony were having an affair together. Frowned upon, the two ancient lovers kept their love
hidden and private. After Cleopatra and possibly her lover, Mark Anthony, had a war thrown on
them, they committed a double suicide protecting their love. Their suicides lead Rome and
Egypt to become allies and no longer enemies. The power of their forbidden love was an
inspiration for Shakespeare s theme. In his play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare s theme is
forbidden love can lead to consequences. Shakespeare uses plot and conflict to support this
theme throughout the play. Conflicts in Romeo and Juliet, and the plot support Shakespeare s
theme of a forbidden love can lead to consequences. For example, Romeo and Juliet fall in love
at a Capulet party before finding out each others families (act one, scene five). Once finding out
they are children of rivalries, their love becomes forbidden or not allowed. Knowing about each
other s families somehow made the love get stronger. Also, after challenging Romeo, Tybalt
approaches Romeo ( act three, scene one). Tybalt approaches Romeo in a rude manner, but Romeo
continues to stay clam and avoid any conflict because he is secretly married to Juliet. The... Show

because they didn t want to live in a world without each other, or in a world, married to someone

scene three). The tragic death of the two lovers led to the families to realize their children
sacrificed themselves because their rivalry made their love forbidden. The two families stop their

Britvic PLC financial analysis
1. Aim
The aim of the following report is to assess the financial activity of Britvic PLC over a sixty
months period, from January 2005 until December 2009, in order to make recommendations for a
future investment in the company. 2. Company overview

Britvic PLC was compelled in 2007 to increase with approximately 10 days the period in which
credit customers pay their liabilities, so that the impact of economic recession over the
organisation s profit was reduced by maintaining the drop in the level of sales at an acceptable
level. One year later, in 2008, an 8 days decrease in his ratio was recorded, followed by a 2 days
increase in 2009. As reported by their financial statements, the debtors days ratio has been stable
for the past two years, a sign of recovery after the economic recession, but not as low as in the
economic boom, characteristic for the 2005 2006 period.
The third ratio mirroring the company s efficiency is the creditors days ratio, which measures,
according to Atrill, the number of days in which the business pays its debts to suppliers. Britvic
PLC s financial statements recorded in 2009 a 20 days increase in the above mentioned ratio
compared to the 2005 2008 average that had a value of 149 days. Therefore, Britvic PLC paid in
2009 its debts 169 days after the enclosure of the transactions. Taking into consideration the fact
that Britvic PLC is operating in the soft drinks industry, which has a medium pace of generating
cash, it may be stated that this ratio s value is high enough to reflect that Britvic PLC is risking the
creditors goodwill. On the other hand, the company paid its short term liabilities in approximately
four months after receiving the supplies

Ocean City Visual Pollution
Additionally, many of the locals have issues with the decision to build the wind farm off the coast
of Ocean City. The Ocean City Mayor stated that the residents of the city voiced their large concern
with visual pollution . The residents proposed that the wind farms be built further offshore in hopes
to avoid this issue. Councilman Dennis Dare, also prefers the wind farmbe pushed at least eight
miles further offshore to aid in the solution for visual pollution. However, even with the already
hefty price tag of the wind farm, pushing it further out would cost one million dollars per mile. If
the wind farm causes visual pollution, it may result in a decline of tourists and revenue for the
city. In 2016, tourists have spent $16.4 billion dollars at Maryland tourism related businesses,
98% of which are made up of small local businesses, all of which will suffer great financial
droughts in their business. Businesses such as restaurants, arcades, stores, and hotels will face
severe decreases in their profits, because of the lack of tourism. Tourism is a major generator of
jobs, directly employing more than 140,288 Marylanders in 2014, with a payroll of $5.4 billion
(Maryland Chamber of Commerce , 2016). Furthermore, if tourist decide not to visit Ocean City,
many jobs will be cut due to the decrease in demand of people wanting to visit, as well as
revenue. Also, tolls surrounding Ocean City may undergo a slight decline in revenue due to the
lack of traffic. The lack of

The Trafficking Of A Global Economy
Human trafficking in a global economy has resulted in the commodification of human souls. In this
nomenclature of institutionalized proliferation of terror in a post conflict, post communist
democratized Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH), the trafficking of women has become a
manifestation of the grosser changes evolved by globalization in the mainstream market culture of
the sex trade. As Bosnia entered into bloodshed with the members of former Yugoslavia between
the years of 1992 1995, the cleansing of non Serbs from Bosnian territory would later be known as
one of the largest massacres and acts of genocide in history (Srebrenica). Leaving the nation so

Further, with Bosnia s postsocialist change, pornographic directors, brothel owners and pimps
seeking new talent for sex tourism amongst others, congregated to the war torn states to sell, buy
and negotiate other business deals with former Yugoslavs desperately seeking to improve their own
circumstances .
Another factor that greatly influenced the influx of trafficking in Eastern Europe has been the
rearrangement of the international labor market and of social inequalities including nationality,
gender, race, class and citizenship that have differentially shaped this reorganisation of the labor
market . It is cofounding how essential class is as a variable in sex trafficking, subdivided into
the following: poverty, urban and rural areas. In this crossroads of east and west and with the fall
of Balkan territories it suddenly became easier and cheaper to move women from Eastern to
Western Europe . As traffickers capitalized on porous borders and relied on political and military
instability to glide across states without interruption, allow traffickers to create supply chains to
satisfy the growing demands for sex workers across the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
The gendered nature of the trade conceptualizes from laws, customs and taxes that have historically
and universally disseminated the economic exploitation of female sex work . This gender biased

Genetic Modification Pros
Genetic modification, especially the production of designer babies, has been acclaimed as the
next great medical beneficiary to humanity, and also regarded with disdain and fear as a product
of man playing god, neo eugenics, and perpetuating inequality. The benefits to society, such as
alleviating medical anomalies and bettering both length and quality of life, outweigh the moral
panic and outcry that is a response to scenarios that are unlikely to ever even develop. Society
should embrace genetic engineering and modification to improve humanity as a whole. A primary
concern of opponents of genetic engineering and modification is the fear that it will widen the gap
between the abilities of the rich and poor as the inherent abilities of babies, such as their
intelligence or physical strength, would be determined by the wealth, and therefore ability to
procure the best technology, of their parents (Kimel). This is a... Show more content on

Trust Definition Essay
What is the meaning of trust? What does it take for a person to fully, unconditionally trust a
person? What can that person do, to change, for you to trust them? Merriam Webster s Dictionary
defines Trust as; the belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc. And I
believe trustis the number one key in healthy relationships. For others, especially in my story, I am
still trying to understand their warped definition of that fantastic word, trust.
My story originates from a few weeks ago, August 19th, 2015 to be exact. I am relaxing at home,
vigorously going through all of my new books for school, and making sure my book bag is neat
and orderly.
All of a sudden, the phone rings. On the other line, it is my good friend, my mentor, Police

The Total Budget Of The United States Essay
The total budget of the United States is $4.1 trillion. This accrues for two thirds of the total

H. J Mccloskey s Article On Being An Atheist
H. J. McCloskey, an atheist author, wrote an article titled On Being an Atheist which explains why
he is an atheist, his views on God, and why He believes that being an atheist is more comfortable
and reasonable than believing in Christianity. While arguing against the proofs within the
cosmological argument and teleological argument, McCloskey does not acknowledge the
ontological argument. He then goes on to say how belief in Godis not necessary and living by faith
is irrational. My goal of this paper is to examine his article, point out the flaws, and prove that his
arguments do not prove atheism to be true. McCloskey refers to proofs as an argument that
favors God but cannot make a case for God. He then goes on to argue that those proofs should
not be used and discarded. Dr. Foreman, however, suggested the accumulative case approach,
which tells us to collect the proofs and evidence that says God, in fact, exists. One main reason
that we cannot be one hundred percent sure when we say that God exists is the possibility of us
being wrong. On one hand, Dr. Foreman argues that things that take place around us are evidence
of God. However, McCloskey says that the case for God cannot be proved through Christianity. In

His experience in the classroom and his substantial research into both the positives and negatives of
diversity make his clear, concise arguments are incredibly convincing, especially in regards to his
own university classroom.
Thernstrom, on the other hand, appears to be attempting to make a case for self evidence. Her
arguments, such as minority students getting into universities because of upward ratcheting appear
unsubstantiated. Indeed, her claim that many minority students cannot catch up to other students
itself appears unsubstantiated. Further, because of she argues that many. Her omission of Dr.
Putnam s research when it directly contradicted her arguments further diminishes her amicus curiae

Affirmative action, and race based admissions standards, are the best way to increase (or

A Study On Computer Technology
Introduction:
A study by (Lambert, 1999) discovered that family historians are collectors, they collect
information about people, places, names and stories. Our father Albert, was no different he
lovingly compiled the family history because it gave him a perspective on our past and present. To
give us an opportunity to learn about our heritage and build on it (Sharbrough, 2005, p. 64).
Although it was common for people of his generation to research and record on paper. Albert
decided to embrace computer technology, used the Osbourne 1 computer to record our story, and
store it on a series of 5 1/4 floppy disks. The recent discovery of the computer and the disks has
ignited curiosity from our scattered younger family members around the world about their
contents. However, a report by a computer technician revealed the Osbourne 1 is not in working
order but the data on disks may be recoverable. Also, when the family history is made accessible
technological obsolescence issues will need to be managed. So that access to the document is
available to all who want now and into the future.
The obsolescence problem:
Technological obsolescence happens because of rapid advances in technology, make supporting a
product no longer viable or too expensive to keep in production, or the original manufacturer goes

Complementary And Alternative Medicine ( Cam )
CAM Therapeutic Modalities Paper
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is important in todays health care for researchers,
practitioners, and consumers. Society should be aware of the safety of taking herbs, therapies, and
any health topics. The CAM website can be a useful website to research information that a person
wants to gain background on. In the following paper, I will give definitions of alternative,
complementary, integrative medicine, conventional medicine role, CAMs philosophy, five domains
of therapies, and research a treatment.
Definition of Alternative, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine Alternative is a non
mainstream approach in place of conventional medicine. A system of healing or treating disease,
such as homeopathy, Ayurveda
, faith healing, and chiropractic that is not included in the traditional
curricula in medical schools. Complementary medicine is a non mainstream approach together with
conventional medicine. Practices of alternative medicine acquired and adapted by mainstream
medical practitioners, such as acupuncture. Integrative medicine is holistic and encloses the mind,
body, and spirit. It encircles both conventional and alternative medicine to use the best evidence of
both approaches to healing. Integrative medicine integrates the therapies of alternative medicine
with mainstream medical practitioners. The terms differ because integrative medicine is finding

Elie Wiesel s Experience In Night And Life Is Beautiful

to take note of these comparisons and contrasts. For example, the age difference, their first

Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when he first arrived at a concentration camp. Joshua, though

Elie needed to pass the tests given every so often to see who was fit to go on, and not be killed

rules given out by his father. Stay hidden, do not ask for a snack, do not speak unless told to.
These were a few of the rules given out in order to receive points. Elie and his father were forced
to move from camp many times. Joshua and his father however, stayed in one place. Elie and
his father also had a great variety of jobs they had to do in order to receive food. Joshua did not
work, his father did though. The one, same job. A similarity though, was the friends involved
during their time in the camp. Both sons had friends and peers during either a short time. Joshua
had the Jewish children in the very beginning who he played with, until they took them away
and he had to hide after. Elie had work friends and companions he talked to. Many times they
were either separated, killed or died. The ending of both the movie and the book were similar in
certain things. In both camps they were liberated by the American soldiers. In the movie after they

Swiss Family Robinson Comparison
Imagine if you were stuck somewhere, with the same people, and you couldn t leave for a long
time. Well that s what it was like for Anne Frank and The Swiss family Robinson. In The Swiss
Family Robinson , Johann Wyss, and Anne Frank: The Diary Of A Young Girl , by Anne Frank,
the characters of both stories share similarities and differences for the themes fear, suffering, and
hope.
In The Swiss Family Robinson and Anne Frank both stories show the theme fear. They both
show the theme in similar ways. In The Swiss Family Robinson they show fear when they first
get on the island. They re similar because when Anne and her family first get to the Secret Annex
they are scared. In Anne Frank the family is scared of the Nazis. That is similar to The Swiss
Family Robinson because they are scared of the creature s and the storms on the island so they ...

If Not For Purchasing Some Mint Oil At The Apothecary
If not for purchasing some mint oil at the apothecary, Morgana might have spun around and
interrupted the conversation going on behind her between two men, whose loud voices indicated
they thought the world ought to hear their opinions. ...and who would have expected it? said one.
Excellent news, of course; Camelot boasts some rare fine wines I ve been longing to plunder for
years! Rare fine wines, indeed. She pretended to glance around, quickly taking note of the men in
question. One, perhaps the one who had just spoken, was scratching his beard with a conspiratorial
air, as though he had signed the Treaty himself. The second, impossibly thin for his age, had a stoop
to his shoulders and rough skin. The thin man nodded. Indeed! I rather feared there would be no
peace given their history, and what with that mad woman on the run... Oh, she hasn t been seen
since Ismere, don t worry about that... ...trying to steal the Throne of Camelot, who on earth does
she think she is? Morgana took a deep breath and forced herself to stare at the ostentatious hat of a
man standing not far forward. These men, probably merchants, cared for nothing but the
continuation of their business with minimal disturbance, so of course her frequent declarations of
war against Camelot were inconvenient. Fine. They could be forgiven for misunderstanding that
rather than stealing Camelot s Throne, she was simply reclaiming her rightful inheritance. Once
they understood the righteousness

Elementary School Security
Another action that can be taken place is possibly having more security placed on school sites,
more so on elementary and middle schools. Many have seen the extensive security measures that
have been taken on high school campuses such as security guards, officers, Identification cards, etc.,
but why aren t these security measures occurring on elementary and middle schools? A possible
solution to solving the security on elementary and middle schools would be providing security
guards on these schoolsites. There is a concern about a shortage of security guards on campuses,
so instead of hiring security guards school districts could possible hire retired police officers or
military. By hiring these retired officers or military members they would... Show more content on

Immigration Autobiography
I was born in Odessa, former Soviet Union and presently Ukraine; there I lived my first thirty
three years. Now I am a proud citizen of United States of America, my adopted country, the
country I love, and truly consider mine. So many things and events leading to our departure and
details of the immigration process now are vague in my memory, but I do not want to forget
them completely; also, there are grandkids that someday may want to know a little about their
roots. Although, I realize that my story was very typical and thousands of other families had
similar experiences, I still want to recall as much as possible and be as truthful as possible, while
describing our passage to America. In the year 1965, I was twenty years old (not very matured),
when Victor and I were married. Our daughter, Annushka, showed up... Show more content on

Actually the misery of living in the rundown apartment with communal kitchen shared by 3
other families deserves more details; also when add no running water, absence of the toilet and
heating ( the word air conditioning did not exist in our vocabulary) the picture becomes more
vivid. I need to explain the Soviet system of apartment distribution: to become eligible to only
stay in line for an apartment (even co op that we later paid for) each person must occupy no more
than 4 sq. meters or 36 sq. feet. For my parents, husband, daughter, and I our apartment had to be
no more than 720 sq. feet or the size of average one bedroom apartment in America. My parent s
apartment was slightly bigger. Thinking that I will have to spend the rest of my life sharing
apartment with my parents made me desperate, (my mom was not very fond of my husband and the
feeling was mutual, although their relationship improved after we moved out). Victor saved the
situation by falsifying the size of our apartment to fit the draconian

The Joy Luck Club By Amy Tan
A natural part of life and human nature is that bonds can end due to a difference in opinion. This is
the case within the novel The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, as the American daughters of the China
born mothers grow up in perpetual disconnect because of their cultural differences. Consequently,
the daughters view of their mother s loveis distorted. Without a clear comprehension of their mother
s love, which is shown in forms of her words and actions, the daughters are constantly haunted by
life s difficulties. Thus, The Joy Luck Clubemphasizes that a bond between a mother and daughter
is important because it provides an opportunity to understand a mother s love and subsequently,
allows her to overcome the difficulties of life. This is illustrated through a mother s sacrifices
providing hope, a mother s guidance overcoming sorrow, and a mother s wisdom protecting desires.
To begin, daughters will overcome hopeless aspects of life if they understand her mother s sacrifice.
Bitterness can overtake one s life; however sacrifices can be inspirational examples to combat it.
When An Mei s mother suicides out of bitterness, An Mei learns to become one who is hopeful
about life:
I was falling from the sky down to the ground, into a pond. And I became a little turtle lying at
the bottom of this watery place. [...] I was crying hard, so many tears, but they drank and drank, so
many of them, until I had no more tears left and the pond was empty, everything as dry as sand
(Tan 239).

Grimm s Fairytales
Introduction: Grimm Fairy Tales is a popular genre to children and society. The stories and
remakes of the fairy tales are the basis of the original. Grimm Fairy tales include Snow White,
Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Ariel, Rapunzel and many others. The story usually includes a
curse, a fairy or magic, a prince saving the princess and a moral. Fairy tales have a huge impact
on pop culture and how children and young adults perceive reality and love. For English class,
we are presenting a research paper based on fairy tales, folktales, or fables. Over the course of six
months in English class we have been studying stories, and have looked at the Canterbury Tales,
etc. These stories are passed down from generation to generation and give us... Show more content

During world war two, people thought the fairytale encouraged genocide because of the intense
death in some of Grimm Brothers stories. Bettelheim took a psychological approach in his book
The Uses of Enchantment and believed that fairytales arose from children s subconscious as he
sought to demonstrate fairy tales accurately projected children s psychological needs and neatly
describe their psychosexual desires. (Buttigheimer, Par 17) In contrast, most theorist believed
that fairy tales create a social norm and motifs for children. In modern day, fairytales have more
egocentric values. The stories I chose to research were Little Red Cap, Rapunzel, Little Snow
White, Hansel and Gretel, and Little Briar Rose. Little Red Cap is a tale of a young girl who is
deceived by a wolf, who then tries to eat her grandmother and her but is saved by the huntsman.
Rapunzel is about a young baby who was traded in place for her parents misfortune of taking

When the horn blows, the adrenaline is already flowing and it feels good to finally get moving. All
the pent up energy finally gets released and channeled. The hours of training, the preparation, the

about what it takes to get to the starting line. Follow these steps and you ll be ready to stand at the
starting line for your first duathlon.
First, you have to identify a race. There are a variety of websites that provide a list (active.com, for
example). This is important because preparing for a 5K or 10K or 10 miler is not the same as a

You still have a few things to consider. If you can, go pick up your race packet the day before

you don t have to worry about it tomorrow. You can see the race route on line (usually), so if you
have time, drive the route so you can get a feel for the land (especially the bike course). You may
not realize how big some of those hills are by looking at a map, but if you drive the course, you

night before the race make sure you go through pre race checklist to ensure you have everything.
Running shoes check, bike helmet check, bike cleats check, water bottles filled with water or

Panera Bread Essay
Panera Bread is a company that has capitalized on the fast casual restaurant experience. Their
aim was to provide a specialty bakery and cafe experience to urban and suburban workers and
dwellers. They are categorized as bakery cafes and currently have over 2000 stores worldwide.
They are currently leading their industry in terms of number of stores and profits; they had $1.8
billion in corporate revenues in 2011, $3.4 billion in systemwide store revenues, and an average
sales of $2.3 million per store location (Thompson, p. C 96). Their strategy is to open up more
stores worldwide and keep their customers loyal through an attractive menu and the dining
ambiance of each store. Panera strived to be the first choice for customers craving fresh, made to
order sandwiches and breakfast items as well as baked in house breads and pastries. They targeted
urban workers and suburban dwellers looking for a quality, quick meal in combination with a
pleasant dining experience. Their long term plan was to make Panera Bread a nationally recognized
brand name and to be the dominant restaurant operator in upscale, quick service dining (Thompson,
p. C 97). Panera s strategic issues were that they were trying to establish their name while there was
a weak economic recovery going on in the United States: There was a 8 percent unemployment rate
and an intensely competitive restaurant industry. Another of Panera s strategic issues was that they
were attempting to tackle an industry where

Water and electrolyte rich sports drinks are good choices; alcohol and soda aren t. Minimize
accidents by taking defensive driving courses for motorcyclists or related safety training
programs. These lessons will provide invaluable tips on improving your responses to the potential
dangers on the road. For instance, maintaining an appropriate distance between you and other
vehicles and avoiding the blind spots of other drivers around you. Before you take your

From Light Comes Darkness, And From Darkness Essay
Quote 1
From Light comes Darkness, and from Darkness.. Light.
Warcraft
A.In this quote, it tells us that positive and negative go hand in hand. It tells us that whether
there is too much of something and less of the other or less of something and too much of the
other, both will correlate with each other. As life is a spiral of ups and downs, whether it may be
good or bad, happy or sad, opposites will balance each other, for it is the essence of life.
B.Whenever good things surround me, bad things always come around. The most memorable one
was the time when my brother and I graduated college together (my first course before I ladderized
it). Everyone was happy and everything was going well for the family, then a month after the
graduation, the tides quickly turned around and my mother s sickness got worse, she got
admitted to the ICU in a hospital for a month and a half, everything quickly turned around so
fast, financial shortcomings came and everyone was in a state of panic, shock and fear. Then
came the month of June, my mother got well for a few weeks, sense of relief was felt by
everyone. I finally got to continue my education together with my friends, I thought that
everything was turning back to normal then while I was at school fixing my class schedule, my
father called me and.. You already know what happened. It left the whole family feel miserable,

Fingerprint Analysis In Criminal Investigation
Every day, individuals touch countless objects and each time an object is touched an individual s
fingerprints are left behind. For more than one hundred years, fingerprint analysis has been used by
law enforcement to identify suspects in order to solve crimes. One of the most important uses of
fingerprint analysis is to assist investigators when they need to link two crimescenes to the same
individual. Fingerprintanalysis also assist investigators with obtaining an individual s criminal
record and any previous arrest they have had. A fingerprint is an impression left by the friction
ridges of an individual s finger. Fingerprints can be easily deposited on surfaces such as glass,
polished stone, and metal. They are easily deposited by sweat from eccrine glands that are present
in the epidermal ridges of individuals fingers. These are also known as Chanced Impressions.

the pinky. Sixty percent of all pattern types are loops. Arches create a pattern that is wave like

Populism And Propaganda
It was not until the waning months of the War that Americans first began to learn about the
Holocaust. As Allied soldiers advanced through Germany, they discovered camps filled with
starving undesirables, primarily Jews, as well as the instruments of death on an industrial scale.
This horrifying discovery gave Americans a kind of moral justification for the war that they
sacrificed their labor, loved ones, and lives in. To a people already shocked numb from the
continued and unabating death and destruction of the previous six years, this uncovering of evil on
such a massive scale cemented in the hearts of the world a desire to prevent such a global injustice
from happening again. It is worth remembering the circumstances surrounding the rise of extremist
hatred and nationalism that inspired the War and made possible the Holocaust. Eighty five years
ago, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must all promote a culture of compassion and reason, through education, appropriate political
discourse, and a structuring of our media that prevents the effective dissemination of propaganda.
The rise of populism around the world makes the aggressive promotion of these values even more
urgent. Populism is not inherently bad nor good, but it is a very powerful political force, and not
likely to relent without significant changes to the political order as we know it. As Bernie Sanders
and Donald Trump demonstrated in America and the Syriza and Golden Dawn parties
demonstrated in Greece, populism can take very different forms. We must not let popular unrest
become a vehicle for hate and for the degradation of democratic values, as it was in the years
leading up to the War. Now more than ever, our commitment to human rightsmust not be forgotten:
too much is at stake to risk repeating

  • 6. The Age Of Reason By Thomas Paine Thomas Paine was an influential 18th century writer of essays and pamphlets. Among them were The Age of Reason, regarding the place of religion in society; Rights of Man, a piece defending the French Revolution; and Common Sense, which was published during the American Revolution. Common Sense, Paine s most influential piece, brought his ideas to a vast audience, swaying (the otherwise undecided) public opinion to the view that independence from the British was a necessity. Thomas Painewas born in England in 1737, to a Quaker father and an Anglican mother. Paine received little formal education, but did learn to read, write and perform arithmetic. At the age of 13, he began working with his father as stay maker (the thick rope stays used on sailing ships) and he later worked as an officer of the excise, hunting smugglers, and collecting liquor and tobacco taxes. He did not excel at this job, nor at any other early job, and his life in England was, in fact, marked by repeated failures. To compound his professional hardships, around 1760, Paine s wife and child both died in childbirth, and his business, that of making stay ropes, went under. In the summer of 1772, Paine published The Case of the Officers of Excise, a 21 page article in defense of higher pay for excise officers. It was his first political work, and he spent that winter in London, handing out the 4,000 copies of the article to members of Parliament and other citizens. In spring of 1774, Paine was ... Whether it s going away for a weekend spa break, taking long walks, or spending a day off fixing an old car, the way we experience leisure varies from person to person. As Jon Pike points in Chapter 1, some activities may not seem like leisure to some people. Taking long walks could seem like a way to make yourself exercise more, for example. But if you go for walks for no other reason than you enjoy it, the activity becomes leisure. In this essay, I will be looking closely at leisure activities from both the ancient world, and the modern one, and discussing how social status impacted on the way people experienced leisure. I will start by discussing leisure amongst the Romans, giving brief examples of what they did for leisure, then moving on to talk about if, or how, social status amongst them affected their experience of it. The goal of this grouping is for each class to be made up of students who are homogeneous in standardized intelligence or achievement test scores (Snowman, Biehler). In this type of grouping, the schools separate their students into different classes or courses. This being said, there are a number of disadvantages as well. One such example is the fact that the regrouping plan takes a considerable amount of time for planning. [В…] Many teachers are uncomfortable working with children whom they see only once a day for an hour or so (Snowman, 2003, p.186). Although a derivative of the regrouping method, the Joplin Plan is perhaps the most unique of the four types of ability grouping due to its process of cross grade grouping. A variation of the regrouping method, the Joplin Plan is also known as the simplest form of ability groups. This grouping plan assigns students to heterogeneous classes for most of the day, but regroups them across grade levels for reading instruction (Hollifield 2000). This is in effort to group students for reading instruction on the basis of ability level, regardless of age or grade. An example of the Joplin plan would be to group all third, fourth, and fifth graders whose grade equivalent scores in reading are 4.6. The same can (and usually is) done for mathematics. Before the 1960 s and the intensification of the war, public news coverage of military action was constrained heavily by the government and was directed by Government policy. The Vietnam War uniquely altered the perception of war in the eyes of American citizens by bringing the war into their homes. The Vietnam War was the first U.S uncensored war resulting in the release of graphic images and unaltered accounts of horrific events that helped to change public opinion of the war like nothing it had ever been. This depiction by the media led to a separation between the United Statesgovernment and the press; much of what was reported flouted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a disastrous battle in 1963, in which the U.S. had lost numerous helicopters and their aboard crew, the press identified strategic blunder and saw reluctant Vietnamese infantrymen as the reason for the failed mission. The U.S. government tried to depict the mission as successful, indicating a major point of divide between the government and the media, the media turned to the word of angry South Vietnamese officials, angry U.S advisors, and hostile American pilots who risked their lives daily without recognition as their basis of evidence regarding the incident and incidents to come. Another question was left to be raised, where were these televised materials coming from? In accordance with the actual content; much of what was recorded was done by the US Army photographic agency beginning after much controversy caused by the filming of burning the village of Cam Ne by American troops. Furthermore, Americans placed trust in the presence of pictures, for they could see it happen. According to various sources, beauty ideals, in women especially, are socially constructed in order to judge a person s value based on physical attractiveness; therefore, it is highly encouraged that people pay attention to their looks and take care of themselves, in order for others to create a positive first impression of one s character. It is no secret that beauty standards vary from one culture to the next and it is difficult to establish a universal principle of what is considered beautiful. It is not uncommon that you ll hear Puerto Ricans refer to themselves as the mutts of the Spanish community, this is because of the island s history. Soon after Christopher Columbus discovered the island in 1493, it became known as the rich port for the Spanish or Puerto Rico, due to the fact that it produced mass amounts of cattle, sugar cane, tobacco, and coffee, especially considering the island s size. Such prosperity and wealth opened the door for the slave trade to enter the colony, and as a result Puerto Rican bloodlines and cultures evolved not only from the Spanish, but also from Africans, and indigenous TaГno and Carib people ( Puerto Rico History and Heritage ). In addition, over the centuries many failed attempts where made by the French, Dutch, and English to conquer the island which even further changed the bloodlines. Of course, as history has it, at the end of the Spanish American war in 1898, the Treaty of Paris declared the the Spanish would surrender Puerto Rico to the United States, therefore infiltrating American culture and beauty ideals. Frowned upon, the two ancient lovers kept their love hidden and private. After Cleopatra and possibly her lover, Mark Anthony, had a war thrown on them, they committed a double suicide protecting their love. Their suicides lead Rome and Egypt to become allies and no longer enemies. The power of their forbidden love was an inspiration for Shakespeare s theme. In his play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare s theme is forbidden love can lead to consequences. Shakespeare uses plot and conflict to support this theme throughout the play. As reported by their financial statements, the debtors days ratio has been stable for the past two years, a sign of recovery after the economic recession, but not as low as in the economic boom, characteristic for the 2005 2006 period. McCloskey, an atheist author, wrote an article titled On Being an Atheist which explains why he is an atheist, his views on God, and why He believes that being an atheist is more comfortable and reasonable than believing in Christianity. While arguing against the proofs within the cosmological argument and teleological argument, McCloskey does not acknowledge the ontological argument. Excellent news, of course; Camelot boasts some rare fine wines I ve been longing to plunder for years! Rare fine wines, indeed. She pretended to glance around, quickly taking note of the men in question. Now I am a proud citizen of United States of America, my adopted country, the country I love, and truly consider mine. So many things and events leading to our departure and details of the immigration process now are vague in my memory, but I do not want to forget them completely; also, there are grandkids that someday may want to know a little about their roots. Although, I realize that my story was very typical and thousands of other families had similar experiences, I still want to recall as much as possible and be as truthful as possible, while describing our passage to America. • 47. The Joy Luck Club By Amy Tan A natural part of life and human nature is that bonds can end due to a difference in opinion. This is the case within the novel The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, as the American daughters of the China born mothers grow up in perpetual disconnect because of their cultural differences. Consequently, the daughters view of their mother s loveis distorted. Without a clear comprehension of their mother s love, which is shown in forms of her words and actions, the daughters are constantly haunted by life s difficulties. Thus, The Joy Luck Clubemphasizes that a bond between a mother and daughter is important because it provides an opportunity to understand a mother s love and subsequently, allows her to overcome the difficulties of life. This is illustrated through a mother s sacrifices providing hope, a mother s guidance overcoming sorrow, and a mother s wisdom protecting desires. To begin, daughters will overcome hopeless aspects of life if they understand her mother s sacrifice. Bitterness can overtake one s life; however sacrifices can be inspirational examples to combat it. When An Mei s mother suicides out of bitterness, An Mei learns to become one who is hopeful about life: I was falling from the sky down to the ground, into a pond. And I became a little turtle lying at the bottom of this watery place. [...] I was crying hard, so many tears, but they drank and drank, so many of them, until I had no more tears left and the pond was empty, everything as dry as sand (Tan 239). ...
