Water Contamination Research Paper
Water contamination due to increased population and industrial activities is one of the most
challenging issues to the researchers, because it is continuously increasing threats to both human
health and the environment. With the rapid development of industries such as metal plating
facilities, mining operations, fertilizer industries, tanneries, batteries, paper industries and
pesticides, etc.,(1,2) heavy metals wastewaters are directly or indirectly discharged into the
environment increasingly, especially in developing countries. Unlike organic contaminants, heavy
metals are not biodegradable and tend to accumulate in living organisms. Many heavy metalions are
known to be toxic or carcinogenic and cause high blood pressure, anemia, cancer, renal kidney
disease, nervous system... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Owing to the standard limits of water, it generates a strong demand to improve the efficiency of
existing methods for removing Pb and Zn from the water. Many techniques have been reported for
the effective removal of hazardous heavy metals from aqueous solutions such as adsorption,
flocculation, coagulation, membrane filtration, electrochemical operations, solvent extraction, bio
sorption, chemical precipitation, ion exchange, as well as various other processes (6 7). However,
most of these techniques have several disadvantages such as production of secondary pollution,
high cost, high levels of energy and chemicals needed, and weak treatment operation at low metal
concentrations. (8 9). Adsorption is now recognized as an effective and economic method for heavy
metal wastewater treatment. The adsorption process offers flexibility in design and operation and
in many cases will produce high quality treated

Three Symbols in the Great Gatsby
Nathaniel Woodford
Three Symbols in the Great Gatsby
Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to criticise America from straying from the American Dream .
Typically the American society tries to follow the American Dream, which is a dream of a society
that allows everyone, no matter what economic class they were born into, to be able to accomplish
whatever they want with hard work. With this principle no matter their social class Americans
should be able to accomplish anything. Fitzgerald thought that the American society wasn t
following the American dream; he successfully used symbols to criticize different aspects of
American society, showing the weakness of each deviation from the American Dream. Many
symbols were used, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader than could decide that some actions of some characters were immoral. Fitzgerald
went on to write that the sign was faded. This symbolized that god was leaving the hearts of the
people allowing the reader to find more fault in the American society. Why were the eyes of Dr.
T.J Eckleburg one of the most important symbols in the criticism of the American dream? For
Fitzgerald to show that the society was doing things against God s will, depicts that what they
are doing is very immoral. A religious reader will probably want to side with what God judges so
they would also think that some characters in the American society were immoral. The reader
would then be more against the American society allowing Fitzgerald to better criticise it because
the reader won t be trying to defend it if they were against it.
The American Dream allows all Americans the same opportunities for self improvement. The
Valley of Ashes was a key force in the criticism of the American Dream because it was used in
two literary devices of setting and symbolism. Fitzgerald by establishing the setting in the Valley
of Ashes allowed the reader to better relate to the working class because they could see a very
detailed picture of the daily life of the working class. The Valley of Ashes depicts the working
class as not getting the same opportunities as the upper class for self improve. The working class
will probably stay in the working class

`` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Manfred E. Clynes And Nathan...
The cyborg figure is a common fixture in both science and science fiction. The term, coined by
Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960, refers to an organism with enhanced functionality
due to the incorporation of a mechanical component (Clynes and Kline, 27). The animal machine
hybrid was a figuration and embodiment of the modern era s lust for technology as a means of
pushing the human towards what was often militaristic and capitalist ideals. However, in her
groundbreaking essay A Cyborg Manifesto , Donna Harawayappropriates the patriarchal cyborg
figure for feminist purposes, drawing on its composited ontology as a model for female liberation.
Her essay posits a psychological escape from the dualisms that hamper the female sense of self,
through its account of boundary breakdowns and its rejection of totalized identity. This
psychological escape becomes active politically when applied to challenge the authority of the
physical acts of oppression where these dualisms often manifest. However, the manifesto s inability
to entirely account for cultural differentialism within feminismcauses it to fall somewhat under
Haraway s goal of promoting the particular female self.
First published in 1985 as part of The Socialist Review and later updated in 1991 as part of her
anthology of essays Simians, Cyborgs, and Women (the latter of which will be the version
analyzed), Donna Haraway s A Cyborg Manifesto constructs a feminist call to action by situating a
myth of the

7 Important Facts You Must Know About A Booster Seat
Your kid needs a booster seat that is correctly fixed in order to stay safe in your car as well as
prevent serious injuries in the event of an accident.
Now, even if a booster seat itself meets the safety and government s standards, it can still present
safety problems if it is installed or used incorrectly. The safest Booster Seat therefore, is the one
that best fits your child, your car and is easiest for you to use.
4 Questions That Needs Your Urgent Answer Before Using A Booster Seat

At what age can a child switch from a booster seat to the main seat?
Apart from the safety laws, children are not ready to make the switch from a booster seat to seat
belts until they are at least 4 feet 9 inches tall and can pass the five step test, typically meant for
children of ages between 8 and 10.
7 Facts You Need To Know About A Booster Seat
Research findings have shown the following facts to be helpful in using a booster seat!
1.Booster seats that come with and without backs provided similar risk for injury.
2.Head injuries accounted for 65% of injuries and are popular among all hurt children no matter the

Descriptive Essay On The Night In The City
We would walk through the city every night. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a
68 degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain,
just the empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the
shinning days, we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities.
The night has a misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The
night conceals itself behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty
underneath. That s how it feels existing around you. It s similar to having an exhausting day and
all that is anticipated is the night. You can stroll to relaxation and contentment. You are my
night. When we are together, I suppose, it is only for the moon to see. We would walk through
the city every night, specifically on the sidewalk and the rhythmic clicks of my boots echoed
throughout the entire block. My boots wanted to show you off to the entire city. Each click lets
everyone know that I am with you and no one else. Each click lets everyone know that I am
confident and delighted when I am around you. Each click lets everyone know that I am not
ashamed of who I am around you. However, your shoes would not make any noise. They never do.
We would walk through the city every night at the same pace. Side by side, left foot, then right,
then left, and then right again. We are in harmony, yet relish the silence.

Police Labor Organization Research Paper
Explain what constitutes a police labor organization, and how it differs from a police labor union.
Is the Fraternal Order of Police a police union ? Why or why not.
When looking and comparing the definition of both the police labor organization, and the police
labor union, one can make several generalizations.
In defining the term labor organization it means any organization of any kind, or any agency or
employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and which exists for
the purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes,
wages, rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work ( labor organization, n.d., para. 5).
An example of a labor organization for law enforcement is The International Union of Police
Associations AFL CIO union ; it is exclusively chartered for active and retired law enforcement
officers, with its sole mission to fight for the needs of the members male or female in law
enforcement and their needs ( I.U.P.A, n.d.).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Case Study On Smart Watches
I decided to write my case study about the smart watches, because this is a new expanding
market and people do not know much about these devices. The smartwatch is a wearable
computing device, that people wear it on their wrist. From outside it is similar to a wristwatch
but from inside it is more like a smartphone. It provides a lot of features that we can do with a
smartphone, we can connect these to gadget to each other in order to make our life easier. But
when did these small devices started to extend?
People started to imagine what could they do with their wristwatch in the 1940s, we can see
intelligent watches in movies like Drick Tracy or Star Trek in the 1940, but then it was just a
fantasy. The first big step on the way to the smartwatches was the introduction of the so called
Pulsar watch in 1972. It has lasted for 20 years to develop this digital watch and the American
Hamilton Watch Companyhas debuted with it. The quartz watches mean an enormous threat to the
traditional watch industry. These watches were much cheaper and more precise than mechanical
ones. From that time watches started to be more complex and electric. ... Show more content on

were very expensive so not many people could afford them, on the other hand people the demand
for these high tech watches was not so big. That is why the market of quartz watches did not start
to fall. Swiss watchmakers were reluctant to these changes but they recognized if they wanted to
keep step with the world, they had to fulfill the needs of the consumers, and they wanted quartz
watches, they created the Swatch brand. Now it belongs to the World s most successful watch

The Negative Aspects Of Keeping A Vehicle
Keeping a vehicle regularly maintained is imperative to a person s health and safety. As well as
his or her wallet. According to the American Automobile Association in 2014 more than two
million vehicles were towed for engine related issues and seventeen million due to battery failure,
flat tires, and keys locked inside a vehicle. In addition, thirteen percent of accidents were due to
mechanical failure. Keeping up with maintenance on a motor vehicle can drastically decrease the
chance of having larger repairs in the future, also diminishing the chance of mechanical related
accidents. Furthermore, consistently maintaining a vehicle and keeping proper records of
aforementioned maintenance can help maintain a higher resale value. A few moments of time can
extend the life of a car and bank account.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, an oil change, on average, takes only twenty to thirty minutes of time and only
costs approximately $40. However, if a car goes without periodic oil changes, there is a risk of
locking up the motor, which can cost thousands of dollars to repair plus be an inconvenience to
the driver by being without a vehicle while repairs are being completed. Not servicing a car on a
regular basis is more likely to cause costly, larger repairs more often and sooner than vehicles
serviced frequently.
Costly repairs are not the only consequence of not keeping a car tuned up. Chances of having a
accident due to failure increase greatly with neglect of regular maintenance. Brake failure, locked
up motors, and blown tires are just a few scenarios that could cause an accident. Warning lights,
smoking engines, and strange noises emitting from the vehicle can be dangerous for all drivers
around, as they can cause unnecessary distraction from the task of driving. Keeping a frequent
check on tires, fluid levels, and brakes could save money and possibly

A Study On the Correlation between Social Status and...
Spring, 2013
INTRODUCTION
The main aim of this paper is to examine whether there are significant differences in academic
performance of students of ............. University with regard to their social background. There are
social differences among students that create social inequality, mainly due to the existence of
classes in society. Students representing different social classes can achieve different results in
their career paths. The paper s point of departure is that there are great deals of socio economic
factors that can affect the academic performance of the students. These include the education level
of student s parents, family income, the type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These conceptualizations include social class as more than just an economic measure. For example,
Weber saw property, skills, and education all contributing to the concept of social class, which is
sometimes used interchangeably with socioeconomic status.3 He argued that social class has three
dimensions of stratification: class, status and party and that these three dimensions are distinct
entities and cannot be resolved under the single concept of class.
Thus, in brief from the concept of social class we understand a group of people within a society
who posess the same socioeconomic status.
HYPOTHESIS
Preposition: Students who represent upper social class are more successful than others (positive
relationship)
H(null): There is NO relationship between the level of social class and the level of academic
success.
CONCEPTUALIZATION
A social class is a group of people that is characteristic of owning the same social, economic,
political position on the basis of which is placed in different hierarchical occupations. Besides this
leads to social differentiations. So the concepts that need to be explained within the scope of this
research are social class, social background and success.
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION
In order to research the validity of the hypothesis, the conceptualization process is used at first. The
points that can affect the level of

Essay on Violence in Television
When families sit down to watch television, they expect to watch family type of shows. Family
type shows meaning rated PG or PG13, sitcoms and movies that do not include weapons, killing,
foul language, and non socially accepted actions. When children killing, they start to believe that it
is accepted. Do children think that killing and hurting others and themselves have little meaning to
the real life, children can become traumatized. Most killers or violators of the law blame their
behavior on the media, and the way that televisionportrays violators. Longitudinal studies tracking
viewing habits and behavior patterns of a single individual found that 8 year old boys, who viewed
the most violent programs growing up, were the most likely... Show more content on

According to the National Television ViolenceStudy, the context in which violence is portrayed is
as important to its impact as the amount of violence. The study concluded that 66% of children s
programming had violence. Of the shows with violent content three quarters demonstrated
unpunished violence and when violence occurred 58% of the time, victims were not shown
experiencing pain. That makes the children think that violence is just like riding a bike, simple as
that (NTVS, 1 2).
Parents try not to let their children watch shows that they would watch due to the fact that there is
a lot of violence that occurs. When parents sit down and watch the cartoons that their children are
watching, they can notice that the violence is incredibly higher. The level of violence during
Saturday morning cartoons is higher than the level of violence during prime time. There are 3 to
5 violent acts per hour in prime time, versus the 20 25 acts per hour on Saturday morning. Media
violence is especially damaging to young children (under age 8) because they cannot easily tell the
difference between real life and fantasy. Violent images on television and in movies may seem real
to young children. Viewing violent images can traumatize innocent children (NTVS, 1 2).
There is a strategy to help the children understand that what they are watching is not educational.
You can tell your child that you are

Trust During Hell s Trauma
Trust During Hell s Trauma The story swan song by Robert McCammon is a post apocalyptic
novel about the survivors who are now in the aftermath of the nuclear blast. This was during the
Cold War that took place in America has been between America and Russia. It gives a perspective
of what s it s like to be in the middle of a traumatic tragedy. There were some who were lucky to
survive the tragedy, but there was something they needed to have, which was to trust, the survivors
needed to trust that they make it through. Trust is a needful thing even though it has been a hard
thing to get and to establish. Trust was difficult due to their inner personal troubles two of them
had some relatable reasons. Swan had an abusive stepfather not only to her, but Darlene is
known as Uncle Tommy. An abusive jerk when he was drunk and even accusing Darlene as
McCammon states, what am I supposed to do? Just smile as you go out drinking and gambling
money I earn? That money was supposed to go to our rent on the damned trailer and buy us
some groceries, and by God you just went and threw it away, just threw it . This was just him
drunk talking and an example of Uncle Tommy s accusation.ch3 (36). This made the lack of trust
reasonable as an abusive spouse who goes inflicts anger and rage. A monster at home is what
makes a thing like trust slip away as this kept going on.

Biological And Social Norms Of Gender Roles
Introduction
In general, social psychology looks at how people think about one another, but as well as how
they influence and relate to each other (Myers, 2014, pg. 554). Gender plays a fascinating role
within our social settings. Biological sex defines gender, however biology and social
characteristics help define a male and a female (Myers, 2014, pg.154). Gender roles are behaviours
that a culture would typically expect from both male and females (Myers, 2014, pg.159). Our
expectations for things like the parent that stays home with the children, shopping, driving, and
who pays for dinner on a date come from these gender roles. Gender roles bring up questions
around biology versus our cultural surroundings and how gender roles become developed ... Show

Cognitive dissonance is becoming aware of the fact that our attitudes and actions are not
coinciding and therefore tension is felt (Myers, 2014, pg.558). Birdee struggles with this at the

Betrayal In King Lear
Shakespeare s King Lear fabricated a world of its own, in which distinct virtues and vices were
personified by individuals with diverse points of view. With each conflict in the play, the characters
actions and decisions were parallel to the integrity of their heart and mind, exhibiting the virtue or
vice they represented. With this strategy, Shakespeare shares that with trust should come discretion.
In these situations, the cast confronts instances of betrayal and eventually self growth. The story
initiates with King Lear s urgency for flattery, which drives him to commit a decision that
instigated the power hungry course of his daughters. The betrayal of Goneril and Regan caused
Lear to separate from his man made principles and praise those of nature. Besides the change in
Lear, the audience also observed Gloucester s position concerning the legitimacy of his two sons.
Societal views were a detriment regarding the rights of illegitimate children, like Edmund. Seeing
his brother Edgar conquer all his father s treasures, Edmund left his praise of nature behind and
instead exploited the reliance of status and relationships in his royal family to overcome the laws of
society, forming a great deception against his own family.
Edmund s frustration at the treatment of illegitimate children was present from the start of the
play, as he exclaimed: Why bastard ?/ [..] When my mind as generous and my shape as true / As

Monsanto Pros And Cons
Many people talk about GMOs without even knowing what they are. GMO stands for
genetically modified organism, which does not sound like an appetizing name. (Whitman 1).
The GMOs discussed in this essay will be the GMOs developed by Monsanto, Monsanto is most
known for their genetically modified corn seeds; they make their seeds resistant to Roundup so
that farmers can spray the entire crop with Roundup and not have any adverse effects on the
finished product (Whitman 1). One may ask, why corn? This is a good question, corn is the
biggest crop grown in America because it can easily break down into many different components
that can make up so many other resources. In fact, corn is found in more than one half of the
items found at the grocery store. Corn is easily broken down into high fructose corn syrup, and so
many other things, corn has even made its way into diapers (Bawa and Anilakumar). The use of
GMOs is widely considered safe, but there is a body of recent evidence that has proven otherwise.
The use of GMOs in corn crops, although at first sight seem very beneficial to almost all aspects of
corn farming, upon further inspection may have many unforeseen downfalls. One cannot have a
conversation about GMOs without talking about Monsanto. Monsanto was founded in 1901 but
has not become a big factor until fairly recently. As previously mentioned, Monsanto genetically
modifies their seeds to resist the effects of Roundup, they do this to many seeds but mainly corn.
The corn crops have been putting many small farmers out of business because of one smart
adjustment that Monsanto has done to the corn s DNA. They made it so that the plants do not
reproduce (Bawa and Anilakumar). This makes it so that farmers who use GMOs have to go out
and buy new seeds every year, and this gets very expensive. On top of this, the farmers need to
buy Roundup and other resources. Interestingly enough, the farmers lose money every year at
harvest time (Bawa and Anilakumar). One may be prompted to ask, how do the farmers stay in
business? The only way that the farmers make money is because corn is subsidized by the
government, this is how the farmers make their money. The farmers who do not use GMOs end up
most of the time going

Universal Healthcare And The United States Essay
Universal Healthcare in The United States There are three basic goals for a National Health
Care System; 1) keeping people healthy, 2) treating the sick and 30 protecting families against
financial ruin from medical bills , (Physicians for a National Health Program, 2016). No truer
statement could there possibly be written or proclaimed as there is a crisis in healthcare costs
across the United States. United States, one of the most developed western country, yet we
suffer from higher infant mortality rates, have shorter life spans and are affected by more
chronic disease and or illness than our contemporaries all while spending the most for insurance
per capita and less annual doctor visits with less physicians, (OECD Health Data 2015). There is
a question to be answered, why , why are we trailing our contemporaries and more important than
that is, is our National Health Care system really working for us? The year 2010 was the
beginning of change in the United States where we transitioned from primarily private insurance
and welfare to a universal healthcare model, under President Obama with the signing into Law of
the Affordable Health Care Act March of 2010. The purpose of the Affordable health care act is to
ensure that all Americans have access to affordable healthcare, however in 2016 we are still
questioning we ve been successful based on funding, government sponsored healthcare programs,
effects on the current HCO, elderly, military and accessibility.

Anabolic Steroids And Substance Steroids
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary anabolic steroids are any of a group of usually
synthetic hormones that are derivatives of testosterone, are used medically specially to promote
tissue growth, and are sometimes abused by athletes to increase the size and strength of their
muscles and improve endurance. The main purpose of anabolic steroids is to gain strength and
muscle very quickly and faster than any other drug enhancement. There are many types of
models that relate to anabolic steroids. One model is high school athletes who use anabolic
steroids and would mostly fall in the performance enhancer model category. Many may ask, what
exactly are performance enhancement drugs? Performance enhancement drugs are substances
used to improve any form of activity performance in humans. There are many experiments done
on the use of anabolic steroids within high schools. According to the Huffington Post as of
2011, 13 percent of boys who play football in high school take anabolic steroids and that is just
football players. All of these young athletes who take steroids use the drug to become stronger. An
average of 8.8 percent of female high school athletes have also tried or currently use anabolic
steroids. The crave to have a buffed body is a big trend for young adults. A study from the
University of Michigan showed that in 1992, 72 percent of high school seniors believed that those
using steroids risked harming themselves (Are Student Athletes Taking Steroids?). Just

The Bible Passage Judges Chapter Fourteen
I have selected the Bible passage Judges Chapter Fourteen verses One Twenty and have analyzed
and interpreted this specific passage by using the King James Version Study Bible. I have also
read the article, A Black Feminist Approach to Biblical Studies by Wilda Gafney, which also
interprets and analyzes this specific Biblepassage. After interpreting this passage myself and then
reading Gafney s work, I can see that we had both seen the story pretty similarly except for that she
noticed some specific details in the passage that failed to catch my attention. Her points are strong
and compelling but is she looking too deeply into the story?
The Book of Judges is thought to be possibly written by Samuel and the purpose of this book is
stated to be, to show that God s judgement against sin is certain, and his forgiveness of sin and
restoration to relationship are just as certain for those who repent (KJV Study Bible). Judges
Chapter Fourteen verses One Twenty is specifically the story of Samson s Feast and Riddle. The
author of this passage (thought to be Samuel) is saying that you should not use God s blessings
for selfish purposes. It is a special gift for God to give you these strengths and abilities and to use
them selfishly is robbing God, the church, and his fellow believers (KJV Study Bible). As you
use the gifts God has given you, you should be sure that you are helping others as God would want
you too, not just yourself. This specific Bible passage tells the story

Fourth Of July Essay
The Fourth of July in Sterling, Kansas is a time celebration, reunion, and blowing things up.
Since the town will be booming with people, TNT Dairyland has to be on top of it s game. I
have been a star employee for three years. Many employees have come and gone, but I know that
I am Bim Trewer s favorite! He has recently hired a few new people, Macy, my classmate, being
one of them. I am hesitant to work with her, because she is a lazy student and never on time. She
goes running around with her stupid pink nails thinking everyone loves her. It will be my goal
this summer to out shine all the other employees and finally get the recognition I deserve. As
you all know, the Fourth of July is next week and we will be very busy. Bim Trewer stated at a
work meeting. I have come up with an idea to motivate everyone to work harder and to reward
the best employee. Tomorrow, the person who makes the most tips will get a $1.50 raise. My

Effects Of Parental Addiction On Children
THE EFFECTS PARENTAL ADDICTIONS HAVE ON CHILDREN
Alexis Holcomb
The cost of alcohol and substance abuse in the United States reaches heights of four hundred
eighty four billion dollars per year ( Magnitude ). That s about seven hundred eighty times the
amount it cost to diagnose and treat sexually transmitted diseases in the year 2000 (Chesson).
The sole purpose of this is not to persuade you one way or the other on this topic. Nor is the
purpose to apologize for this social issue. The purpose of this writing is to employ data showing
the societal effects parental addictions have on children, to show how this data has remained
relevant in society, and to show how it is affecting our future members of society.
In this paper, I look at forms of substance abuse and the effects on children. I will be using the
following headings to break down the different issues associated with this social problem: social
causes, phenomenon, and consequences. I hope to educate those that may be ignorant to the
situation, and help to spark a flame that can be used to not be a bystander, but a solution to the
problem at hand.
Social Causes
An estimated twenty five percent of youth under eighteen are exposed to familial alcohol abuse
(Bellum). The Illinois Department of Human Services says that nearly six hundred seventy five
thousand children per year suffer serious abuse or neglect as a direct result of substance abuse (
Children ). What makes this a big problem in society?

Oracle Employ And Manipulate Users And Roles
Oracle DBAs employ and manipulate users and roles, as well as various other objects on a daily
basis. They do not belong to a schema similar to other objects, including profiles and tablespaces.
Users and roles access schema objects like tables, views, synonyms, and indexes. Even novice
DBAs possess a reasonable awareness of working with tables including querying, updating, reading,
and deleting data from them. Because tables can easily expand in row numbers, performance will
inevitably suffer. An adept DBA should retain a fundamental expertise of indexes to alleviate these
performance issues.
Much like the index of a book, a database index speeds up table searches by adopting pointers to
rows of data in contrast to performing full table scans to locate a minute amount of data. An
index is a data structure (most commonly a B tree) that stores the values for a specific column
in a table. The B tree index is the prevailing index and takes advantage of an efficient algorithm
for searching columns of high cardinality. This type of search is performed in logarithmic time
which exponentially decreases the time to execute a search. Fig 2 illustrates a B tree index and
how it provides more granular levels of information at each level. An index is constructed on the
last name column of a table. Oracle uses Miller as the root node and divides any last names that
are alphabetically less than Miller on the left child node and any last names greater on the right
side. The next level

The Allied Powers of the First World War
I. Introduction
During the First World War (1914 1918) The United Kingdom was one of the Allied Powers,
fighting against the Central Powers (the German Empire, the Austro Hungarian Empire, the
Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaria).
In 1914, British Army did not have the power to fight a major war on the continent, and throughout
the course of military actions had to multiply in size fourteen times (Chandler/ Beckett 211). Nature
of the conflict that forced reorganization of the British Army, including raising one of the largest
all volunteer militaries in history, creation of the Royal Air Force, and use of conscription, as well
as facing modern and far more brutal weapons resulted in tremendous changes in the British
warfare. British commanders, experienced in fighting small colonial wars, had to quickly adapt to a
very different set of circumstances.
The end of War marked a decline in the respect of authority. Economical effects of massive
casualties, during carnages like the Battle of the Somme (1916), became felt and evidences of
Generals incompetence were brought to light (for example in 1927 publication of Lions Led by
Donkeys: Showing how victory in the Great War was achieved by those who made the fewest
mistakes by British Captain P.A. Thompson). The criticism intensified after the end of the Second
World War, when massive sacrifices of the previous war were put in perspective. Publication of

St. Thomas Aquinas s An Unjust Law
St. Thomas Aquinas argues that an an unjust law is no law at all. (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002,
p.19) However, Aquinas also acknowledges that a human lawgiver may promulgate a command
that has the form of law, and is enforced like a law, yet is unjust. This observation leads to the
realization that these are two inconsistent claims. Yet Aquinas believes that these inconstancies can
be reconciled. In Aquinas view an unjust law is not a law but yet is also able to be issued as law
and imposed as law. Throughout the course of this essay, I will first define what Aquinas means by
incorporating the claim that an unjust law is no law at all . This will include defining important
terms that will correspond with evaluating Aquinas claim.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is imperative to understand Aquinas definition of just and unjust laws. Through defining these
terms, we will be able to understand Aquinas claim. A law that is just has the power of binding
in conscience (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). It is derived from eternal law and therefore
inherently morally correct. An unjust law lacks this integral quality. Aquinas is willing to say
that an unjust law is a so called law, but a just law is a law proper in its entirety. A law is said to
be just when it is ordained for the common good, does not exceed the power of the lawgiver and
any burdens put on the subjects are done proportionally and equally and aim for the common
good (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). In comparison an unjust law can be contrary to the
human good and additionally opposing to the divine good. A law can conflict with the human
good in one of three ways; either through its end, author or its form. A lawmaker issues an unjust
law according to its end when he imposes on his subjects burdensome laws, conducive not to the
common good, but rather to his own cupidity or vainglory (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20).
If a lawmaker imposes a law that favors the leader but at the same time imposes unfair burdens
on the whole of society, it can be assumed that he is working for his glory and selfish desires.
Secondly, a law according to its form would be

zone at times in order to discover something new and finding out who we really are as human
beings.
So, if you are looking to update your style and do something different, here are a few tips to help
you get started. These tips will guarantee you experiment without fear and while still maintaining a

To ensure you don t end up wearing colours that are not flattering, you might want to try colour
tests online to find those that suit you the most. You can find tests, which help determine what
colours are best for you. Pick those colours from the list you haven t ever tried or which you didn t
think would suit you.
Play with fabrics
You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known for your
denim outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick something different such
as khaki. Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and opt something different.
If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet one from Moss
Bros. If you ve never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a denim jacket or a pair of
Levis jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want to go for the opposite and play with
materials you don t normally wear.
You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non patter suites, try picking a pin stripe
suit the next time. On the other hand, if your t shirts are and shirts are always patterned, consider
opting for simple coloured shirts instead.
Find somewhere new to shop
Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear but the places
we shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you always shop with the same
fashion brand or retailer, you aren t going to end up with unique style.

A Comparison Of Alexander Hamilton And Aaron Burr
Over the centuries there has arisen many undisputed geniuses such as Leonardo da Vinci,

questions raised. What is genius? Is genius born or can it be learned? Scholars have gone back

there appears to be a compromise between the two sides in how a genius comes about. To begin,
it is common for many people to laud a skilled person as a genius . In reality, a genius is defined

natural talent and cannot be born . First, intellect is the obvious foundation for any genius,
however, it involves more than natural intelligence. To illustrate, an individual may have great
talent in a certain subject but lack of practice, imagination and passion will prevent him from being

Passion pushes individuals to not give up in testing new theories, invention or techniques. Insert
example of how passion motivated. To illustrate, Tesla faced much opposition nonetheless his

because theories like Marxism, Cultural Studies, Feminism, Structuralism and Post structuralism,
Subcultural Theory and Postmodernism examined this notion and gave it a meaning in that period

Marxism is a political, economical and social system founded by Karl Marx (1818 1883) and
Frederick Engels (1820 1895) who tried to reorganize the world through their revolutionary
ideologies and theories. Thus its intention is to dismiss the evolution of the Bourgeoisie society,
because, in the 18th century, one of the essential concepts was the notion of class struggle. As
John Storey points out, each significant period in history is constructed around a particular mode
of production; that is, the way in which a society is organized (2006: 47) . This quote suggests
that Marx, through the analyze of global production, asserts that people have to live and work in
equal conditions, without differences between the class of wage earners and the ruling class. Even
if it is said that the Marxism is out of date, it still exists, nowadays, because of the media factors that
sustain its manifestations. For instance, mass media promotes obscenity and presents degeneration
as a normal subject.
What we usually have in mind when we talk about Cultural Studies is the fact that it is like an
amalgam composed by traditions, arts, values, thoughts, faith, which is transmitted from
generations to generations. Theorists as Richard Hoggart, Raymond Williams, Stuart Hall and also
the Centre for Contemporany Cultural Studies brought a new vision on culture. Lived culture is

The Rise Of Anti Semitism

were many Jewish theorists and practitioners arose to find the ultimate solution for the Jewish
question . In addition, the derived tension between the personal life of a Jew and the public life
amongst secular society was the main challenge facing European Jewry. As a result of the long
term process through which Jews attempted to resolve the tension between their personal and
public lives in a secular society wrought with anti Semitism, the Zionist Movement emerged on
the world scene lead by many intellectual and respected key figures. Among them, Theodore
Herzl and Ahad Ha Am were the two most prominent Zionist leaders. They both shared the same
idea of nationalism where it was time for all European Jews to unite and be recognized as a
nation. Although having a sense of national consciousness to unite the displaced Jews, their
visions were completely opposite. The Zionist Idea, a text by Arthur Hertzberg, described their
different visions in term of mass evacuation, statehood, religion, and culture. Both Herzl and Ha
Am agreed on one thing, it was time for the European Jews unite against the European
oppressors. As Herzl writes: A more serious objection would be that I am giving aid and comfort
to the anti Semites when I say we are a people one people. As the height of anti Semitism in
Europe, Herzl understood the severity of the problem for the Jews to live in Europe. In

The Consequences Of The Hunger Games

Descriptive Essay About Summer Break
Our First Dinner
This morning, my cousins arrived at my house. Since then, the place has been bustling with noise,
and there has been a lot of shoving and roughhousing. Currently, we are getting ready for dinner.
Let me backtrack. Yesterday, my aunt called our house to ask my mom if she and her kids could
visit. For a week. My mother agreed, albeit reluctantly. We then cleaned the house and stocked
up on food. My aunt and uncle have four kids, and my parents have three. So a lot of people in
one house. To top it all off, it s the first week of summer break. Like I said, at the moment the
house is in chaos with everyone carrying food, utensils, and chairs around the kitchen. We are
getting ready for our first meal together. We went out for lunch so we didn t have to worry about
making food. Now we do. Since most of us kids don t know how to cook, we got pushed into the
basement. So we are playing games while we wait for the adults to get done with the food. We
fight, we shove, and we punch. My family is really rough, so when we get together, you can
almost guarantee that there will be fighting. After what feels like hours, we hear my mom yell,
Kids, the food s ready! We all immediately stampede up the stairs, trying to beat each other to the
kitchen. Once we get there, we all fight over seats before we finally get settled. My uncle says
Grace and we all dig in.
So, how has everyone s summer been so far? my aunt questions. We reply with mumbles of Good
and Boring .

An Analysis Of Dean Spade s Normal Life
The Western thought functions through strongly rooted beliefs that have been prevalent for so
long, that the accuracy goes unquestioned. But just because it has gone on for so long, does not
mean it is the most efficient way of processing the world. The basis of biological determinism is
used to interpret and understand members of society, using predetermined categorizes to
comprehend identity. Furthermore, it is important to realize that using such a methodology for
judgment leads to perceiving race, gender, sexuality, and other identity markers in such a way that
is exclusive and unjust. Viewing society in regard to biology has various ramifications that impact
the lives of every individual. By functioning through biological determinism,... Show more content

In the book Normal Life, Dean Spade explains that the dispersion of power helps the creation of
norms that distribute vulnerability and security (4). This illustrates that not only does biology
determine who receives power and who doesn t, it also influences the norms that society upholds.
Through this perspective, biology determines how much a person is worth and predicts their
future. For those who do not have the ideal biology, they are left powerless and stranded in their
fixed conditions. Furthermore, those who are defined to be powerful must be protected from those
others (Spade, 5). This operation of norms is used to justify the exclusion of powerless populations
from programs that distribute wealth and life chances and attempts to validate the targeting of these
same populations for imprisonment and violence (Spade, 5). In reality, biology destines some
groups to flourish, to acquire enhanced opportunities, and to be treated in a way that benefits their
success. At the cost of this group, comes the groups that are being held back and facing an
inevitable doomed future; the norms produce security for some population and vulnerability for
others (Spade, 5). Through dividing power based on individuals biology, the sexist and racist
mindsets are reinforced and the conditions of violence, exploitation, and poverty are upheld (Spade,
5). The quantity of power impact[s] how we know our selves as subjects through these systems of
meaning and control the ways we understand our own bodies, the things we believe about ourselves
and our relationships with other people and with institutions, and the ways we imagine change and
transformation (Spade, 6). The amount of power one obtains indicates to themselves, and to others,
how much control and worth they have within society. It also influences how situations are
interpreted, formation of personal beliefs, and

subcategory of romance necessitating questions related to love (Norton 11). Tristan and Isolde are
lovers bound together by the effects of the love potion, initially believed to be wine by Iseult,
however what she had found [was] not wine but Passion and Joy most sharp, and Anguish
without end, and Death (BГ©dier 38). Therefore, this book leads the reader to question if love
is a product of a strong relationship or the result of actions and situations. For example, the love
of Tristan and Iseult was a product of the love potion which caused Tristan and Iseult to love
each other with their every single sense and with their every thought, forever... (37). Because the
love of Tristan and Iseult does not have a traditional foundation, the love potion also causes the
lovers to challenge traditions about love. For example, Tristan and Iseult consummate their love
after drinking the love potion, which goes against traditions of chivalric love and more
specifically courtly love (TVtropes courtly love). Additionally, both Tristan and Iseult are willing
to give up privileges in order to live together and love each other. While speaking to Ogrin, a
hermit that often represents traditional catholic values, Tristan says that he would rather beg my
life long and live of roots and herbs with Iseult than, lacking her, be king of a wide

Why the Way We Helped, Needed Help Essay
It s in the first sentence of the United States Constitution; listed as one of the six fundamental
purposes of the government of the United States, to...promote the general welfare. Considering its
location in the Preamble, one might imagine that the Founding Fathers held this idea to a very high
standard. While the meaning of the Constitution is constantly debated, the notion of where the
government stops providing and personal accountability must be had is the focus of this paper.
During the Roosevelt era, America saw the birth of what some call the welfarestate with the
government taking a vastly greater role in providing the general welfare, leading to an ever
increasing level of dependency. It wasn t until 1996 that serious welfare... Show more content on

The most significant move was FDR s New Deal; more specifically the Social Security Act of
1935 which established the framework for the United States welfare system. In the following
decades, America saw more and more people being added to the rolls and with it, an increase in
costs and dependency. In the 1980 s, President Reagan sought reforms similar to those that were
passed while he was governor of California but was unable to accomplish this. Then, in 1996,
President Clinton and his Republican Congress signed into law the Personal Responsibility and
Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, changing welfare in America forever. There are many
different components of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act
(PRWORA), each equally responsible for its success. First, it instituted Temporary Assistance
for Needy Families (TANF) replacing the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC)
program which had been in effect since 1935. According to the Department of Health and Human
Services summary of the bill, one of PRWORA s main goals was to end welfare as an entitlement
program that simply handed out money without a second thought. The bill required recipients to
begin working after two years of receiving benefits and placed a lifetime limit of five years on
benefits paid by federal funds. It also aimed to encourage two parent families and discouraged out
of wedlock births. Another minor provision was an enhanced enforcement of

Aziz Choudry Fight Back Analysis
Beginning a new life is not easy. Migrants who yearn for refuge, hope and prosperity often select
Canada for its proudly proclaimed multicultural society given its abundance of opportunities.
However, many are left deeply disappointed. Aziz Choudry et al. endeavours to expose the stark
untold reality awaiting many Canadian migrants who long for an improved life. Fight Back;
Workplace Justice for Immigrants provides a comprehensive overview detailing the endless
adversities surrounding employment, social discrimination and exploitation, vividly accented by
the very migrants battling at the forefront.
Fight Back commences with a broad historical analysis examining the implications of unscrupulous
neoliberal tactics. Neo liberalism, defined by the author as the underlying backbone of intensified
political policies on multiculturalism, employment, and immigration coupled with increasing
privatization is largely to blame for the rise of precarious work in Canada. The author theorizes a
capitalist restructuring of Canadian politics in the 1970s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arguments detailing the underlying causes and implications of neo liberalism were logically and
analytically presented. The use of official references from recognized Canadian institutes such as
the Labour Standards Commission, Citizen and Immigration Canada, Canadian Internal
Development Agency, Human Resources and Social Development Canada, Immigration Workers
Center and Union des Producteurs Agricoles amidst dozen others enables stronger, conclusive
validity. The tone of the book reflects a serious, alarming state as illustrated by the quote
Immigrants shouldn t be treated as commodities. The author s enthusiasm for the topic is infectious

war, a brutal bloodshed that stretched over four year, and ten million lives lost. The morale of
entire countries beaten into a tired submission. This is was what WWI left for Europe at it s

spoke of more often and televised more than it s predecessor, it s importance and relevance does
not waver. If it were not for this war, entire empires may still be in place. One could argue that if

All of these countries were well off, Britain especially, with the Industrial Revolution increasing
exports and Imperialism producing resources needed to keep their economy superior to other
countries. In the middle of this alliance, there lay another. It consisted of Germany, Italy, and
Austria Hungary. The Balkans to the south were considered neutral territory in 1914 (Document
A), but the peoples of these lands were vastly unhappy. One such people were the Serbians. Now,
the Serbians were not happy with how their lives were, and dreamed of revolution. So, a group
known as The Black Hand devised a plan that they believed would bring the change they wanted
to Serbia; killing the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Now when this happened, Austria
Hungary responded by declaring war on Serbia. However, when this did this, they alerted the
Triple Entente. Russia, which was tied to the Triple Entente, was on good terms with Serbia. And
so Russia declares war on Austria Hungary, which causes Germany to join in, and invade
Belgium. And so Britain, who was a friend of Belgium, declared war on Germany, and then France
joined because England joined. So, in effect, because of one assassination, because of one death, all

While Rapsody is currently the best right now in my opinion, it s hard to look at a rapper like

The 1990s Conflict Of Kosovo
Intro
The 1990s conflict in Kosovo is one that has been identified as a result of a long running and
intractable dispute. The dispute identified is one between Kosovo s Albanians or Kosovar, and the
Serbians. The reasons for the dispute stem from several issues, each can be attributed to increasing
the intractability of the conflict.
The issues that have been identified stem from ethnic issues, or political. In the Kosovo region the
ethnic issues stem from the vast differences between the Albanians and the Serbs, this is attributed
to other issues such as rising ethnic tensions, and racism between the two groups. Another issue that
has been identified is the strong and underlying senses of nationalism that run through this region

Influential Serbian poet and writer Matija Beckovic talks of the Serbian sentiment of their status
in Kosovo, Kosovo would be Serbian even if there were not a single Serb living there. This quote
provides an insight into what is highly likely a Serbia wide perspective of the situation in Kosovo.
This suggests that a strong attachment between the Serbs and Kosovo is still present when this
quote was presented, this suggestion, if true would strongly contribute to the intractability of the
conflict.
This disagreement between the two groups is an example of the issues that surround Kosovo, and
how these two groups disagree at the base level. If neither party can agree on an issue so simple as
who was there first, it suggests that further issues will arise, contributing more to intractability.

At the end of World War 2 (1945) Kosovo became part of the greater nation of Yugoslavia
, a
communist state lead by Josip Broz Tito. Under Tito Yugoslavia encompassed the republics of
Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Kosovo fell as an autonomous
province under control of Serbia.
With Kosovo as an autonomous province they had the same voting rights as the larger republics
however, could not separate from Yugoslavia if they wanted to. This became an issue for the
Albanians who wanted to be able to separate from Yugoslavia.
The Serbians saw an autonomous Kosovo as Yugoslavia, bending to the will of Albanian
nationalists, and

Why Canada Is A Multicultural Country
Canada has always been a multicultural country. It is well known as a country that accepts diversity
and depending heavily on immigration for its population growth. The largest groups of immigrants
to Canada are from Asian and Middle Eastern countries. This fact has remained virtually unchanged
since the 2001 census (Potter et al., 2014, p.110). Although Canada demonstrates genderequality to
some degree among the various different cultures it has, however, gender inequality exists among
many countries. Gender inequality exits to a varying extent in all societies and differs over time,
across social and ethnic groups (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010). In Saudi Arabia, the system of
governance is a monarchy, with its constitution governed by strict interpretation of the Islamic laws
(Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010). In Saudi Arabia, women s roles and rights can be evaluated by
examining the local interpretation of the Islamic laws, through: education, job opportunity,
marriage, polygamy and fertility (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010).
Statistics shows that about 30% of Saudi women are illiterates, although, presently, there are
more female graduates than males in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki, Söderfeldt, 2010). This is so,
because, some parts of Saudi Arabia (where nonreligious education was regarded as unsuitable for
girls) initially opposed the opening of schools for girls ((Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010).In addition
to that, mixed sex education is not allowed in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki

School Based Mentoring Programs ( Sbmp )
School based mentoring programs (SBMP) have become widely used due to their presumptuously
simple implementation and effective results; however, they remain to be scientifically under
developed and require integrity during implementation (Miller et al., 2013; Smith Stormont, 2011).
Undoubtedly, SBMP have been shown to improve students: attitudes, confidence, school
engagement, school performance, behaviour, vocational skills, and emotional and social skills
(Converse Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Miller et al., 2013; Schwartz, Rhodes, Herrera, 2012). Contrarily,
these promising outcomes are equally met with many studies that show: no, or only little,
improvements; only short lived results; or only effectiveness with certain types of students
(Converse Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; McQuillin, Smith, Strait, 2011; Miller et al., 2013).
A major understanding that many program designers seemingly fail to comprehend is that SBMP
are not general purpose programs. Thus, many SBMP are not designed and implemented
strategically. Particularly problematic for these poorly designed programs are: the lack of defined
success outcomes, measurements of success being open to biases, the ambiguous and faulty
evaluations of such programs, and the individual program s diversity of standards, budgets,
objectives, and implementation (Converse Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Gusic et al., 2010; Schwartz,
Rhodes, Herrera, 2012; Smith Stormont, 2011). Evidently, the difficulty of replicating the

People s Preference to Migrate to Britain in 1880
For me to explain why people choose to come to Britain in 1880 up to the present day, I will
explain the push and pull factors that people and various ethnic groups went through that forced
them out of there own country and what attracted them to come to Britain. An example of a push
factor is war or unlawful treatment in there own country a pull factor is something that attracts
them away like being treated as equals or safety. Some of the groups of people I will be talking
about include Jews from eastern Europe fleeing for there safety from there governments. During the
second world war lots of eastern Europeans deserted there own counties but ... Show more content

All landowners, farmers and labours were expelled from their homes. Furthermore they were only
permitted to live in certain areas. The Russian government would sometimes play the Jewish card
this meant using the Jews for political aims, for example using them as scapegoats by blaming
them whenever anything went wrong. And also used as a pressure valve which means they were
used to release pressure of growing unrest among the people of Russia. The Jewish people because
of this suffered pogroms, a pogrom is an organised murder and plunder on Jews. A wave of pogroms
spread throughout the southern western regions and there was more than 200 alone in 1881. The
authorities condone them through their inaction and indifference, sometimes even showing
sympathy for the pogromists. For Jews to escape the persecution of their that cause them so much

Hybrid Vehicles and Earth s Changing Climate Essays
Motorized Vehicles are one of the most important technologies within our modern world. We use
cars for many reasons, some are to run errands, go to a friend s house, or even on a family
vacation. Transportation plays a huge role in not only America, but also most of the world. Cars
offer fast and reliable hauling from place to place. Technology has led us to cars that emit gasses
that harm the environment but have also pushed us to scientifically advance our system into being
more energy efficient. Hybrid cars are the alternative solution to solving our problem of global
warming. Hybrid cars help our environment a great deal because they are fuel efficient, reduce
pollution, and help preserve our oil and end foreign oil dependency.... Show more content on

Buying a hybrid isn t just saving you money on gas but it also keeps our planet clean. Every time
an automobile burns a gallon of gasoline it releases 22 pounds of carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide
is also a damaging greenhouse gas. Cars account for 76 percent of the carbon monoxide in the
earth s air. Carbon monoxide affects the bloods total capacity for carrying oxygen to the heart,
brain, and other important organs (CEERT). Fuel efficiency isn t just a benefit to saving money;
it is a major benefit for the health of everybody. Instead of clogging the air with unhealthy and
deadly gasses, we can minimize the health issues that are related to the unhealthy atmosphere.
Fuel efficiency is one of the main reasons Americans purchase a new car and with technology
advancing each day; we see the trial and error of the modern world evolve. By the automobile
technology rising, we haven t just found a solution to our problem but have also created a major
problem by polluting the earth. In past years, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were much
lower than they are today. There are more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience
higher levels of pollution than before. The automobile is one of the leading suppliers of pollution in
our cities. They release toxic emissions into our atmosphere that are affecting not only humans but
affecting the world around us. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution.

Cracked Eye Doctor Equipment Analysis
My drawing of the cracked eye doctor equipment shows how I view the world. Last year, I was

life saving cornea transplant and it got rid of the disease so I could leave the hospital and go
back to living my normal life. As well as curing my infection, it also restored some of the sight to
my left eye, but I am still legally blind with my glasses on. The broken lense of the eye equipment
conveys that no doctoror glasses can fix my eyesight, but the lense is only cracked, so if you
were to look through it you would see a distorted image, much like how I see. Also, only the left
eye lense is cracked, the other one is perfectly fine, which shows that

This was the question Perceval always dreaded, because it often forced him to discuss his past,
which he hated to do. I ve lived here a little over ten years. I lived on a small farm on the outskirts
of Camelot until I was nine years old. I lived there with my parents and my sister. That is, until
King Urien s men raided our village and killed my family. All three of them, he said, his voice
catching ever so slightly before continuing. Owen, another farmer and family friend was a

  • 2. Water Contamination Research Paper Water contamination due to increased population and industrial activities is one of the most challenging issues to the researchers, because it is continuously increasing threats to both human health and the environment. With the rapid development of industries such as metal plating facilities, mining operations, fertilizer industries, tanneries, batteries, paper industries and pesticides, etc.,(1,2) heavy metals wastewaters are directly or indirectly discharged into the environment increasingly, especially in developing countries. Unlike organic contaminants, heavy metals are not biodegradable and tend to accumulate in living organisms. Many heavy metalions are known to be toxic or carcinogenic and cause high blood pressure, anemia, cancer, renal kidney disease, nervous system... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Owing to the standard limits of water, it generates a strong demand to improve the efficiency of existing methods for removing Pb and Zn from the water. Many techniques have been reported for the effective removal of hazardous heavy metals from aqueous solutions such as adsorption, flocculation, coagulation, membrane filtration, electrochemical operations, solvent extraction, bio sorption, chemical precipitation, ion exchange, as well as various other processes (6 7). However, most of these techniques have several disadvantages such as production of secondary pollution, high cost, high levels of energy and chemicals needed, and weak treatment operation at low metal concentrations. • 3. Three Symbols in the Great Gatsby Nathaniel Woodford Three Symbols in the Great Gatsby Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to criticise America from straying from the American Dream . Typically the American society tries to follow the American Dream, which is a dream of a society that allows everyone, no matter what economic class they were born into, to be able to accomplish whatever they want with hard work. With this principle no matter their social class Americans should be able to accomplish anything. Fitzgerald thought that the American society wasn t following the American dream; he successfully used symbols to criticize different aspects of American society, showing the weakness of each deviation from the American Dream. Many symbols were used, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reader than could decide that some actions of some characters were immoral. Fitzgerald went on to write that the sign was faded. This symbolized that god was leaving the hearts of the people allowing the reader to find more fault in the American society. Why were the eyes of Dr. T.J Eckleburg one of the most important symbols in the criticism of the American dream? For Fitzgerald to show that the society was doing things against God s will, depicts that what they are doing is very immoral. A religious reader will probably want to side with what God judges so they would also think that some characters in the American society were immoral. The reader would then be more against the American society allowing Fitzgerald to better criticise it because the reader won t be trying to defend it if they were against it. The American Dream allows all Americans the same opportunities for self improvement. The Valley of Ashes was a key force in the criticism of the American Dream because it was used in two literary devices of setting and symbolism. Fitzgerald by establishing the setting in the Valley of Ashes allowed the reader to better relate to the working class because they could see a very detailed picture of the daily life of the working class. The Valley of Ashes depicts the working class as not getting the same opportunities as the upper class for self improve. The working class will probably stay in the working class ... • 4. `` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Manfred E. Clynes And Nathan... The cyborg figure is a common fixture in both science and science fiction. The term, coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960, refers to an organism with enhanced functionality due to the incorporation of a mechanical component (Clynes and Kline, 27). The animal machine hybrid was a figuration and embodiment of the modern era s lust for technology as a means of pushing the human towards what was often militaristic and capitalist ideals. However, in her groundbreaking essay A Cyborg Manifesto , Donna Harawayappropriates the patriarchal cyborg figure for feminist purposes, drawing on its composited ontology as a model for female liberation. Her essay posits a psychological escape from the dualisms that hamper the female sense of self, through its account of boundary breakdowns and its rejection of totalized identity. This psychological escape becomes active politically when applied to challenge the authority of the physical acts of oppression where these dualisms often manifest. However, the manifesto s inability to entirely account for cultural differentialism within feminismcauses it to fall somewhat under Haraway s goal of promoting the particular female self. First published in 1985 as part of The Socialist Review and later updated in 1991 as part of her anthology of essays Simians, Cyborgs, and Women (the latter of which will be the version analyzed), Donna Haraway s A Cyborg Manifesto constructs a feminist call to action by situating a myth of the ... • 6. Descriptive Essay On The Night In The City We would walk through the city every night. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a 68 degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain, just the empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the shinning days, we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities. The night has a misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The night conceals itself behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty underneath. That s how it feels existing around you. It s similar to having an exhausting day and all that is anticipated is the night. You can stroll to relaxation and contentment. You are my night. When we are together, I suppose, it is only for the moon to see. We would walk through the city every night, specifically on the sidewalk and the rhythmic clicks of my boots echoed throughout the entire block. My boots wanted to show you off to the entire city. Each click lets everyone know that I am with you and no one else. Each click lets everyone know that I am confident and delighted when I am around you. Each click lets everyone know that I am not ashamed of who I am around you. However, your shoes would not make any noise. They never do. We would walk through the city every night at the same pace. Side by side, left foot, then right, then left, and then right again. We are in harmony, yet relish the silence. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Case Study On Smart Watches I decided to write my case study about the smart watches, because this is a new expanding market and people do not know much about these devices. The smartwatch is a wearable computing device, that people wear it on their wrist. From outside it is similar to a wristwatch but from inside it is more like a smartphone. It provides a lot of features that we can do with a smartphone, we can connect these to gadget to each other in order to make our life easier. But when did these small devices started to extend? People started to imagine what could they do with their wristwatch in the 1940s, we can see intelligent watches in movies like Drick Tracy or Star Trek in the 1940, but then it was just a fantasy. The first big step on the way to the smartwatches was the introduction of the so called Pulsar watch in 1972. It has lasted for 20 years to develop this digital watch and the American Hamilton Watch Companyhas debuted with it. The quartz watches mean an enormous threat to the traditional watch industry. • 9. The Negative Aspects Of Keeping A Vehicle Keeping a vehicle regularly maintained is imperative to a person s health and safety. As well as his or her wallet. According to the American Automobile Association in 2014 more than two million vehicles were towed for engine related issues and seventeen million due to battery failure, flat tires, and keys locked inside a vehicle. In addition, thirteen percent of accidents were due to mechanical failure. Keeping up with maintenance on a motor vehicle can drastically decrease the chance of having larger repairs in the future, also diminishing the chance of mechanical related accidents. Furthermore, consistently maintaining a vehicle and keeping proper records of aforementioned maintenance can help maintain a higher resale value. A few moments of time can extend the life of a car and bank account.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, an oil change, on average, takes only twenty to thirty minutes of time and only costs approximately $40. However, if a car goes without periodic oil changes, there is a risk of locking up the motor, which can cost thousands of dollars to repair plus be an inconvenience to the driver by being without a vehicle while repairs are being completed. Not servicing a car on a regular basis is more likely to cause costly, larger repairs more often and sooner than vehicles serviced frequently. Costly repairs are not the only consequence of not keeping a car tuned up. Chances of having a accident due to failure increase greatly with neglect of regular maintenance. Brake failure, locked up motors, and blown tires are just a few scenarios that could cause an accident. Warning lights, smoking engines, and strange noises emitting from the vehicle can be dangerous for all drivers around, as they can cause unnecessary distraction from the task of driving. These conceptualizations include social class as more than just an economic measure. For example, Weber saw property, skills, and education all contributing to the concept of social class, which is sometimes used interchangeably with socioeconomic status.3 He argued that social class has three dimensions of stratification: class, status and party and that these three dimensions are distinct entities and cannot be resolved under the single concept of class. Thus, in brief from the concept of social class we understand a group of people within a society who posess the same socioeconomic status. HYPOTHESIS Preposition: Students who represent upper social class are more successful than others (positive relationship) H(null): There is NO relationship between the level of social class and the level of academic success. The study concluded that 66% of children s programming had violence. Of the shows with violent content three quarters demonstrated unpunished violence and when violence occurred 58% of the time, victims were not shown experiencing pain. That makes the children think that violence is just like riding a bike, simple as that (NTVS, 1 2). Parents try not to let their children watch shows that they would watch due to the fact that there is a lot of violence that occurs. When parents sit down and watch the cartoons that their children are watching, they can notice that the violence is incredibly higher. The level of violence during Saturday morning cartoons is higher than the level of violence during prime time. There are 3 to 5 violent acts per hour in prime time, versus the 20 25 acts per hour on Saturday morning. Gender plays a fascinating role within our social settings. Biological sex defines gender, however biology and social characteristics help define a male and a female (Myers, 2014, pg.154). Gender roles are behaviours that a culture would typically expect from both male and females (Myers, 2014, pg.159). • 15. Betrayal In King Lear Shakespeare s King Lear fabricated a world of its own, in which distinct virtues and vices were personified by individuals with diverse points of view. With each conflict in the play, the characters actions and decisions were parallel to the integrity of their heart and mind, exhibiting the virtue or vice they represented. With this strategy, Shakespeare shares that with trust should come discretion. In these situations, the cast confronts instances of betrayal and eventually self growth. The story initiates with King Lear s urgency for flattery, which drives him to commit a decision that instigated the power hungry course of his daughters. The betrayal of Goneril and Regan caused Lear to separate from his man made principles and praise those of nature. Besides the change in Lear, the audience also observed Gloucester s position concerning the legitimacy of his two sons. Societal views were a detriment regarding the rights of illegitimate children, like Edmund. Seeing his brother Edgar conquer all his father s treasures, Edmund left his praise of nature behind and instead exploited the reliance of status and relationships in his royal family to overcome the laws of society, forming a great deception against his own family. • 17. Monsanto Pros And Cons Many people talk about GMOs without even knowing what they are. GMO stands for genetically modified organism, which does not sound like an appetizing name. (Whitman 1). The GMOs discussed in this essay will be the GMOs developed by Monsanto, Monsanto is most known for their genetically modified corn seeds; they make their seeds resistant to Roundup so that farmers can spray the entire crop with Roundup and not have any adverse effects on the finished product (Whitman 1). One may ask, why corn? This is a good question, corn is the biggest crop grown in America because it can easily break down into many different components that can make up so many other resources. In fact, corn is found in more than one half of the items found at the grocery store. Corn is easily broken down into high fructose corn syrup, and so many other things, corn has even made its way into diapers (Bawa and Anilakumar). The use of GMOs is widely considered safe, but there is a body of recent evidence that has proven otherwise. The use of GMOs in corn crops, although at first sight seem very beneficial to almost all aspects of corn farming, upon further inspection may have many unforeseen downfalls. One cannot have a conversation about GMOs without talking about Monsanto. Monsanto was founded in 1901 but has not become a big factor until fairly recently. As previously mentioned, Monsanto genetically modifies their seeds to resist the effects of Roundup, they do this to many seeds but mainly corn. The corn crops have been putting many small farmers out of business because of one smart adjustment that Monsanto has done to the corn s DNA. They made it so that the plants do not reproduce (Bawa and Anilakumar). This makes it so that farmers who use GMOs have to go out and buy new seeds every year, and this gets very expensive. On top of this, the farmers need to buy Roundup and other resources. Interestingly enough, the farmers lose money every year at harvest time (Bawa and Anilakumar). One may be prompted to ask, how do the farmers stay in business? The only way that the farmers make money is because corn is subsidized by the government, this is how the farmers make their money. They do not belong to a schema similar to other objects, including profiles and tablespaces. Users and roles access schema objects like tables, views, synonyms, and indexes. Even novice DBAs possess a reasonable awareness of working with tables including querying, updating, reading, and deleting data from them. Because tables can easily expand in row numbers, performance will inevitably suffer. An adept DBA should retain a fundamental expertise of indexes to alleviate these performance issues. Much like the index of a book, a database index speeds up table searches by adopting pointers to rows of data in contrast to performing full table scans to locate a minute amount of data. An index is a data structure (most commonly a B tree) that stores the values for a specific column in a table. The B tree index is the prevailing index and takes advantage of an efficient algorithm for searching columns of high cardinality. This type of search is performed in logarithmic time which exponentially decreases the time to execute a search. Fig 2 illustrates a B tree index and how it provides more granular levels of information at each level. An index is constructed on the last name column of a table. Introduction During the First World War (1914 1918) The United Kingdom was one of the Allied Powers, fighting against the Central Powers (the German Empire, the Austro Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaria). In 1914, British Army did not have the power to fight a major war on the continent, and throughout the course of military actions had to multiply in size fourteen times (Chandler/ Beckett 211). Nature of the conflict that forced reorganization of the British Army, including raising one of the largest all volunteer militaries in history, creation of the Royal Air Force, and use of conscription, as well as facing modern and far more brutal weapons resulted in tremendous changes in the British warfare. British commanders, experienced in fighting small colonial wars, had to quickly adapt to a very different set of circumstances. The end of War marked a decline in the respect of authority. Economical effects of massive casualties, during carnages like the Battle of the Somme (1916), became felt and evidences of Generals incompetence were brought to light (for example in 1927 publication of Lions Led by Donkeys: Showing how victory in the Great War was achieved by those who made the fewest mistakes by British Captain P.A. Thompson). The criticism intensified after the end of the Second World War, when massive sacrifices of the previous war were put in perspective. (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.19) However, Aquinas also acknowledges that a human lawgiver may promulgate a command that has the form of law, and is enforced like a law, yet is unjust. This observation leads to the realization that these are two inconsistent claims. Yet Aquinas believes that these inconstancies can be reconciled. In Aquinas view an unjust law is not a law but yet is also able to be issued as law and imposed as law. Throughout the course of this essay, I will first define what Aquinas means by incorporating the claim that an unjust law is no law at all . This will include defining important terms that will correspond with evaluating Aquinas claim.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is imperative to understand Aquinas definition of just and unjust laws. Through defining these terms, we will be able to understand Aquinas claim. A law that is just has the power of binding in conscience (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). It is derived from eternal law and therefore inherently morally correct. An unjust law lacks this integral quality. Aquinas is willing to say that an unjust law is a so called law, but a just law is a law proper in its entirety. A law is said to be just when it is ordained for the common good, does not exceed the power of the lawgiver and any burdens put on the subjects are done proportionally and equally and aim for the common good (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). In comparison an unjust law can be contrary to the human good and additionally opposing to the divine good. A law can conflict with the human good in one of three ways; either through its end, author or its form. A lawmaker issues an unjust law according to its end when he imposes on his subjects burdensome laws, conducive not to the common good, but rather to his own cupidity or vainglory (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). If a lawmaker imposes a law that favors the leader but at the same time imposes unfair burdens on the whole of society, it can be assumed that he is working for his glory and selfish desires. You can find tests, which help determine what colours are best for you. Pick those colours from the list you haven t ever tried or which you didn t think would suit you. Play with fabrics You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known for your denim outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick something different such as khaki. Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and opt something different. If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet one from Moss Bros. If you ve never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a denim jacket or a pair of Levis jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want to go for the opposite and play with materials you don t normally wear. You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non patter suites, try picking a pin stripe suit the next time. On the other hand, if your t shirts are and shirts are always patterned, consider opting for simple coloured shirts instead. Find somewhere new to shop Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear but the places we shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you always shop with the same fashion brand or retailer, you aren t going to end up with unique style.

With the rise of geniuses such as these there are two questions raised. What is genius? Is genius born or can it be learned? Scholars have gone back and forth and there is plenty of evidence and countless examples supporting either side. However, there appears to be a compromise between the two sides in how a genius comes about. To begin, it is common for many people to laud a skilled person as a genius . In reality, a genius is defined as, extraordinary intellectual power especially as manifested in creative activity (Meriam). First, intellect is the obvious foundation for any genius, however, it involves more than natural intelligence. To illustrate, an individual may have great talent in a certain subject but lack of practice, imagination and passion will prevent him from being a genius. On the other hand, one may not have an astounding natural ability nevertheless he practices, has a passion for this subject and an open imagination; this individual may turn out to be a genius. A persistent concept in this field is equality because theories like Marxism, Cultural Studies, Feminism, Structuralism and Post structuralism, Subcultural Theory and Postmodernism examined this notion and gave it a meaning in that period of time. As John Storey points out, each significant period in history is constructed around a particular mode of production; that is, the way in which a society is organized (2006: 47) . This quote suggests that Marx, through the analyze of global production, asserts that people have to live and work in equal conditions, without differences between the class of wage earners and the ruling class. Even if it is said that the Marxism is out of date, it still exists, nowadays, because of the media factors that sustain its manifestations. But just because it has gone on for so long, does not mean it is the most efficient way of processing the world. The basis of biological determinism is used to interpret and understand members of society, using predetermined categorizes to comprehend identity. Furthermore, it is important to realize that using such a methodology for judgment leads to perceiving race, gender, sexuality, and other identity markers in such a way that is exclusive and unjust. In the book Normal Life, Dean Spade explains that the dispersion of power helps the creation of norms that distribute vulnerability and security (4). This illustrates that not only does biology determine who receives power and who doesn t, it also influences the norms that society upholds. Through this perspective, biology determines how much a person is worth and predicts their future. For those who do not have the ideal biology, they are left powerless and stranded in their fixed conditions. Furthermore, those who are defined to be powerful must be protected from those others (Spade, 5). This operation of norms is used to justify the exclusion of powerless populations from programs that distribute wealth and life chances and attempts to validate the targeting of these same populations for imprisonment and violence (Spade, 5). In reality, biology destines some groups to flourish, to acquire enhanced opportunities, and to be treated in a way that benefits their success. At the cost of this group, comes the groups that are being held back and facing an inevitable doomed future; the norms produce security for some population and vulnerability for others (Spade, 5). Through dividing power based on individuals biology, the sexist and racist mindsets are reinforced and the conditions of violence, exploitation, and poverty are upheld (Spade, 5). The quantity of power impact[s] how we know our selves as subjects through these systems of meaning and control the ways we understand our own bodies, the things we believe about ourselves and our relationships with other people and with institutions, and the ways we imagine change and transformation (Spade, 6). The largest groups of immigrants to Canada are from Asian and Middle Eastern countries. This fact has remained virtually unchanged since the 2001 census (Potter et al., 2014, p.110). Although Canada demonstrates genderequality to some degree among the various different cultures it has, however, gender inequality exists among many countries. Gender inequality exits to a varying extent in all societies and differs over time, across social and ethnic groups (Mobaraki SГ¶derfeldt, 2010). In Saudi Arabia, the system of governance is a monarchy, with its constitution governed by strict interpretation of the Islamic laws (Mobaraki SГ¶derfeldt, 2010). In Saudi Arabia, women s roles and rights can be evaluated by examining the local interpretation of the Islamic laws, through: education, job opportunity, marriage, polygamy and fertility (Mobaraki SГ¶derfeldt, 2010). Statistics shows that about 30% of Saudi women are illiterates, although, presently, there are more female graduates than males in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki, SГ¶derfeldt, 2010). This is so, because, some parts of Saudi Arabia (where nonreligious education was regarded as unsuitable for girls) initially opposed the opening of schools for girls ((Mobaraki SГ¶derfeldt, 2010).In addition to that, mixed sex education is not allowed in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki ... • 51. School Based Mentoring Programs ( Sbmp ) School based mentoring programs (SBMP) have become widely used due to their presumptuously simple implementation and effective results; however, they remain to be scientifically under developed and require integrity during implementation (Miller et al., 2013; Smith Stormont, 2011). Undoubtedly, SBMP have been shown to improve students: attitudes, confidence, school engagement, school performance, behaviour, vocational skills, and emotional and social skills (Converse Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Miller et al., 2013; Schwartz, Rhodes, Herrera, 2012). Contrarily, these promising outcomes are equally met with many studies that show: no, or only little, improvements; only short lived results; or only effectiveness with certain types of students (Converse Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; McQuillin, Smith, Strait, 2011; Miller et al., 2013). A major understanding that many program designers seemingly fail to comprehend is that SBMP are not general purpose programs. Thus, many SBMP are not designed and implemented strategically. Particularly problematic for these poorly designed programs are: the lack of defined success outcomes, measurements of success being open to biases, the ambiguous and faulty evaluations of such programs, and the individual program s diversity of standards, budgets, objectives, and implementation (Converse Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Gusic et al., 2010; Schwartz, Rhodes, Herrera, 2012; Smith Stormont, 2011). Evidently, the difficulty of replicating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. People s Preference to Migrate to Britain in 1880 Essay... People s Preference to Migrate to Britain in 1880 For me to explain why people choose to come to Britain in 1880 up to the present day, I will explain the push and pull factors that people and various ethnic groups went through that forced them out of there own country and what attracted them to come to Britain. An example of a push factor is war or unlawful treatment in there own country a pull factor is something that attracts them away like being treated as equals or safety. Some of the groups of people I will be talking about include Jews from eastern Europe fleeing for there safety from there governments. During the second world war lots of eastern Europeans deserted there own counties but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All landowners, farmers and labours were expelled from their homes. Furthermore they were only permitted to live in certain areas. The Russian government would sometimes play the Jewish card this meant using the Jews for political aims, for example using them as scapegoats by blaming them whenever anything went wrong. And also used as a pressure valve which means they were used to release pressure of growing unrest among the people of Russia. The Jewish people because of this suffered pogroms, a pogrom is an organised murder and plunder on Jews. A wave of pogroms spread throughout the southern western regions and there was more than 200 alone in 1881. The authorities condone them through their inaction and indifference, sometimes even showing sympathy for the pogromists. For Jews to escape the persecution of their that cause them so much suffering and the government legislation, Jews came to Britain for the reason that they heard stories of wealth, better education, tolerance, freedom to work and that they would have access to the rest of the world in ... • 53. Hybrid Vehicles and Earth s Changing Climate Essays Motorized Vehicles are one of the most important technologies within our modern world. We use cars for many reasons, some are to run errands, go to a friend s house, or even on a family vacation. Transportation plays a huge role in not only America, but also most of the world. Cars offer fast and reliable hauling from place to place. Technology has led us to cars that emit gasses that harm the environment but have also pushed us to scientifically advance our system into being more energy efficient. Hybrid cars are the alternative solution to solving our problem of global warming. Hybrid cars help our environment a great deal because they are fuel efficient, reduce pollution, and help preserve our oil and end foreign oil dependency.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Buying a hybrid isn t just saving you money on gas but it also keeps our planet clean. Every time an automobile burns a gallon of gasoline it releases 22 pounds of carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide is also a damaging greenhouse gas. Cars account for 76 percent of the carbon monoxide in the earth s air. Carbon monoxide affects the bloods total capacity for carrying oxygen to the heart, brain, and other important organs (CEERT). Fuel efficiency isn t just a benefit to saving money; it is a major benefit for the health of everybody. Instead of clogging the air with unhealthy and deadly gasses, we can minimize the health issues that are related to the unhealthy atmosphere. Fuel efficiency is one of the main reasons Americans purchase a new car and with technology advancing each day; we see the trial and error of the modern world evolve. By the automobile technology rising, we haven t just found a solution to our problem but have also created a major problem by polluting the earth. In past years, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were much lower than they are today. There are more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience higher levels of pollution than before. The automobile is one of the leading suppliers of pollution in our cities. They release toxic emissions into our atmosphere that are affecting not only humans but affecting the world around us. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution. ... • 54. Cracked Eye Doctor Equipment Analysis My drawing of the cracked eye doctor equipment shows how I view the world. Last year, I was in the hospital for a deadly infection that made me go blind in my left eye. I ended up getting a life saving cornea transplant and it got rid of the disease so I could leave the hospital and go back to living my normal life. As well as curing my infection, it also restored some of the sight to my left eye, but I am still legally blind with my glasses on. The broken lense of the eye equipment conveys that no doctoror glasses can fix my eyesight, but the lense is only cracked, so if you were to look through it you would see a distorted image, much like how I see. Also, only the left eye lense is cracked, the other one is perfectly fine, which shows that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Camelot-Personal Narrative Essay Joan seemed to accept this answer. And how long have you lived here in Camelot? she asked. This was the question Perceval always dreaded, because it often forced him to discuss his past, which he hated to do. I ve lived here a little over ten years. I lived on a small farm on the outskirts of Camelot until I was nine years old. I lived there with my parents and my sister. That is, until King Urien s men raided our village and killed my family. All three of them, he said, his voice catching ever so slightly before continuing. Owen, another farmer and family friend was a widower. He took me in and has been a father to me ever since. He had no children so it was just the two of us. Much of my time was taken up by farming chores, but Owen knew I dreamed of being a knight and made sure I continued on with my sword lessons. He s a good man. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I m all too familiar with Urien s ways, Joan remarked, sounding chocked up. My father and I lived in his kingdom until we moved here a few months ago. Urien was a horrible barbarian and most of us were grateful when he died. They d now reached the pond and paused. Joan turned toward Perceval. I am so sorry about your family, Perceval. What a terrible thing for a child to go through. What where their names? Perceval could still recall their faces vividly. And thinking of them had never stopped hurting. My father was Yale, my mother Madlen, and my sister Deryn. Beautiful names, said Joan. All three of them. She reached out and touched Perceval s jaw with care. You ve experienced such a terrible loss, but you re not bitter. In fact, you seem like a good soul. Her touch comforted him. I try to be, he all but whispered. For them. Perceval cleared his throat and did his best to change the direction of the conversation. He didn t want the mood to turn somber. It all happened ages ago. I ve done a good deal of traveling and have had lots of adventures, so life s been kind to me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
