Randall Jarrell Essay
The Fabulous Life and Works of Randall Jarrell The experience collected throughout a lifetime shape
a person s identity, with each choice made, bringing one closer to self realization, and the lessons of
the past always affecting the decisions of the future. This phenomenon can be clearly observed when
looking back on the life and works of Randall Jarrell, a literary genius during the World War Two era.
Throughout his life Jarrell collected experiences which shaped not only his works, but also forged
who he became as a person. Events which occurred all the way from Jarrell s early childhood up to his
late adulthood, and everything in between, were important to his development as a writer. His passion
for poetry, his time spent criticizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amidst the onslaught of industrialism, propaganda, and the horrific realization of a world at war, arose
the most celebrated work of Randall Jarrell. His most famous poem: The Death of the Ball Turret
Gunner, came from his own background with the air force. Although he was unable to meet the
requirements for becoming a pilot Jarrell ...trained Air Force pilots and worked with them in the
celestial navigation tower, (McCann 2) an experience which made him an authority figure among
many wartime poets. Many of Jarrell s best works came from his time in the Air Force training pilots
and operating the navigation tower. Having that kind of first hand experience with current events
allowed Jarrell to reach an audience that became captivated by his poetry, which struck the heart of
certain issues. Without these back influencing what he chose to write about and how he wrote it,
Jarrell most certainly would not have been remembered as he currently is. More importantly, without
the experiences that he had in his life Randall Jarrell would not have been able to become the person
or the writer that he

Ibo People Essay examples
* The Ibo people have a civilized community because they have an organized structure to their society
with rules and laws. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples actions
cannot be considered savage. The Ibo are highly religious; the base of most of their daily life revolves
around religion, whether it is how they raise their families or how they grow crops, such as yams. * In
a savage setting, the parents would usually not bother to educate their children or abandon them at a
very early age to fend for themselves. In the Ibo culture, the children learn socially complex skills,
morals and discipline, which shows evidence of a civilized society. * They have complicated rituals

Intro: The Ibo people have a civilized community because they have an organized structure to their
society with rules and laws. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples
actions is not uncivilized. The importance of religion and communication, showing through art and
music, shows their advanced mindset as a whole society. The Nigerian country also shows these
qualifications, despite many beliefs that African countries are uncivilized, they are civilized as well.
Family must play a large part in the civilized culture. This shows civilization by explaining how each
member in a society is watched after and taken care of. Religion also must be taken seriously, and
there must be a majority of one religion in a society, or else the culture is too diverse. This separates
them from each other, halting any possible growing as a civilization.
Sociologist/Cultural Body Paragraph: The Ibo have a highly religious culture; the base of most of their
daily life revolves around religion, whether it is how they raise

Modeling Cancer Cell Growth Of Cancer
Modeling Cancer Cell Growth When researching mathematics in nature, one thing that my teacher had
repeated was to find something that interested me. Wanting to become a biomedical engineer and
having suffered many losses in my family due to cancer, exploring cancer was the obvious choice.
Cancer is the leading cause of all human deaths in the world, and the financial costs of cancer have
been estimated at $1.16 trillion US dollars per year as of 2010. The development of mathematical
models of tumor cells is important to the growth kinetics, which may lead to the development of
successful treatment strategies.
Because of the great variance in malignant neoplasms (the cause of cancer), research has not been
great enough to save the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this exploration, I decided to try to model the growth rate of tumor cells through calculus in order
to discover the advantages and disadvantages of certain models, including the exponential model, the
Gompertz model, and the Universal Law.
Premise of the Exploration
For this exploration, I will be using the data on the growth of tumor size found by a 1970 mouse
mammary study (citation needed). This data was collected over the course of 40 days for two different
types of cancer. This data has been used to create the Gompertzian model and the Fundamental Law,
which I will use later in this exploration.

When I first started researching this, one conclusion that I made was that big cells grow faster, and
small cells grow smaller akin to a snowball rolling down a hill (citation needed). One model used to
describe tumor growth is the exponential growth model.

Personality Traits And The Presidential Election Essay
Hunter Garner Professor Thompson PSY 150.4142 8 November, 2016 Personality Traits and the
Presidential Election Will we be Stronger Together or Make America Great Again Unless you have
been living under a rock for the past two years, the United States of America has an election coming
up on the eighth of November. This campaign has gotten ugly. There has been fighting, rioting,
accusations of improper conduct, and a whole heap of other things between the two political parties.
Some people would argue that our country is divided more now than ever in history. On the
Democratic side, you have Senator Hillary Clinton. She has the motivation of becoming America s
first female president. Over on the Republican side, you have Donald Trump, a billionaire, real estate
mogul, businessman. These two candidates have two very different backgrounds. Hillary Clinton has
been in the political arena since 1976. She was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2001 and was appointed
as the U.S. Secretary of State in 2009. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has never held any kind of
political office. He got into real estate in 1971 and has since then made the Trump name synonymous
with real estate development. With their backgrounds being as different as they are, their personalities
are just as different. Huffington Post polled 1,000 people asking them to describe Clinton and Trump
in just one word. For Clinton, the top words used were liar/lying, dishonest, crook/crooked,

Essay on The Great Railroad Strike
The Great Railroad Strike
In the first half of the 19th Century the working class in the newly industrializing American society
suffered many forms of exploitation. The working class of the mid nineteenth century, with constant
oppression by the capitalist and by the division between class, race, and ethnicity, made it difficult to
form solidarity. After years of oppression and exploitation by the ruling class, the working class struck
back and briefly paralyzed American commerce. The strike, which only lasted a few weeks, was the
spark needed to ignite a national revolt by the working class with the most violent labor upheavals of
the century.
Railroads were the big business of the mid nineteenth century. The rail companies employed ... Show

During this period, many Americans, and particularly industrialists and the emerging middle class,
came to embrace the doctrine of laissez faire. The poor were so because they lacked ability and
determination. The rich were comfortable because of their superior talents and thrift, argued
supporters of a new ideology which turned Charles Darwin s theory of evolution into a new vision of
society s survival of the fittest.
As the rich became richer and the poor became poorer, it was realized by the laborers of the railroad
that their nation s economic growth and prosperity was not being equally shared among the people.
Coupled with years of wage cuts (35% over 3 years), and workforce reductions, that then required
remaining workers to work 15 18 hour days, the workers fought back.
In May of 1877 the Pennsylvania line announced another wage reduction of 10% to the worker s along
with speed ups (double the work). At this point the workers accepted it. Then in July of 1877 the
Baltimore Ohio line announced a 10% cut in pay. The workers questioned management, ‘how could
they survive on these wages and terms? But the owners did not listen, instead they took the position
‘quit if you don t like it .
On July 16, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, some of the workers decided to ‘quit and refused to work.
This spontaneous strike sparked protests in other cities including St. Louis,

Freire
It is my aim through this assignment to study the ideas and principles of Paulo Freire. I will examine
the relevance of these principles to the principles and practice of informal education, drawing on my
practice and how my practice relates to both the ideas of Paulo Freire and the principles and practice
of informal education in general.
The educational thinker that I have selected is Paulo Freire. I have selected Freire as he speaks of the
banking concept and having travelled through the education system, I believe this is something I have
experienced. In order to succeed and pass the exams that I believed I needed to be successful I
conformed and simply banked the knowledge that my secondary school teachers passed onto me. I

The banking concept controls and prevents personal choices from being made. Freire speaks of
education as the practice of freedom as opposed to education as the practice of domination. (Paulo
Freire, extract 1 education thinkers) It is my opinion, that, informal education gives freedom to the
student. In my role, I am aware that the people, who I am delivering to or working with, have the
freedom to leave at any time.
In my practice, I see conversation as crucial. It allows me as an informal educator to explore the
expectations and requirements of the young people that I work with. Through conversation, I gain an
insight into their ethics and values and an understanding of their culture and environment. I believe
that the banking concept prevents the learner from exploring their own thoughts or voicing their own
opinion.
only through conversation can human life hold meaning. (Freire, Extract 1, educational thinkers)
In my practice, I am also aware that the people that I work with, often communicate with and share
their feelings and needs with myself because I have shown them respect and built up a relationship
with them, they may still experience difficulty communicating with others. As an informal educator, I
understand that, the people I work with may need someone to advocate on their behalf. In doing so,
we are still empowering them, as we are assisting them in making changes, which they may not have

Immune To Reality By Daniel Gilbert Summary
Anybody can experience trauma, whether it s a man, a woman, or even a child. In fact, over half of the
population is expected to experience trauma at least once in their lifetimes. However, everyone will
respond to trauma in their own, unique, way, making it difficult to properly equip people with the tools
needed to heal from trauma in the event they experience it. Whereas the responses a person and his or
her body will have in the event of heart attack have been narrowed down to a small list, and can easily
be conveyed to the public through general guidelines or PSAs, the responses a person will have to
trauma can range anywhere from shrugging it off to suffering from post traumatic stress disorder
(PTSD). This is why the role of mental health professionals, such as therapists, is crucial in regards to
helping sufferers of trauma. These professionals are specially trained to be capable of identifying and
understanding the responses a person is having to a traumatic experience, as well as the optimal ways
to go about the healing process. In Daniel Gilbert s Stumbling on Happiness, specifically the chapter
titled Immune to Reality, he analyzes what he calls the psychological immune system, a defence
mechanism of the psyche which plays a prominent role in how a person will respond in the event of
trauma. While Gilbert outlines the mechanisms that cause people to respond to trauma in the way that
they do, Dana Becker, author of One Nation Under Stress, looks at the actual

What Are The Changes In American Culture
Cultures Change
Not all cultures are the same as The United States. America is the melting pot and it is hard to find a
set culture because we are a still relatively young country. In many other countries such as India,
China, Japan, or Pakistan they do have a set of traditions that do matter and they are taken very
seriously. The book of short stories, Interpreter of Maladies, readers are able to see a difference in the
way people from India are brought up in relation to people from mainly the New England area of The
United States. The story strongly indicates coming of age, finding the American dream, and family

Masque Of The Red Death Essay
The Masque of the Red Death was published in May of 1842 by Edgar Allen Poe. It s clearly an
allegorical story, one that can be more narrowly defined as a parable. A parable is defined by
Encyclopedia Britannica as a fable like story which uses humans instead of animals, and draws an
analogy between a particular instance of human behavior...and human behaviour at large . It s
specifically designed to deliver a moral message or lesson, and the one in Masque is that no one can
escape death, no matter what artifices are placed to obstruct it. This is interesting, but the real
magnificence of the tale is in the literary genre in which Poe tells it, which is the Grotesque. The
definition of this term in literature is a bit indistinct, but can be reduced to a couple of key
characteristics: The Grotesque fits in between the real and the fantastic, while being simultaneously
centered between funny and frightening (The Grotesque). Poe s ... Show more content on

Harold Bloom argues that the novella isn t grotesque at all, but Arabesque: The Mask of the Red
Death is one of Poe s most memorable Arabesques (Bloom, 13). While this is partially true because of
the psychological aspects of the piece, it s not entirely accurate as a representation of the entire work.
The creation of terror, the juxtaposition of the real and supernatural, the absurdity and almost comical
aspects, all the poles of what we understand the grotesque to mean have been solidly touched upon in
The Masque of the Red Death. Poe himself refined and encapsulated a coherent meaning for the
grotesque, and the tale stands as a perfect example of what a good representation of it should strive to

British Influence On Australian Society
Thesis
The British were a vital part of the history of Australia. They explored the world creating colonies all
over, but January 18, 1788 is when they first colonized Australia bringing with them many convicts
from Britain. Through their exploration and colonization they traded many economic, political, and
social aspects from Britain with the aborigines that they encountered in Australia. Without Britain
sending people over to Australia, the continent known as the land down under would not be the same
today.

4. Aside from the occasional Indonesian trader or curious European sailor, the majority of the
Australian Indigenous population had never seen other humans for many thousands of years. Yet,
during the late 18th century, this would all change as the Europeans began to explore and inhabit
Australia.
During 1770, Captain James Cook, a British Lieutenant, landed his ship theEndeavour at Botany Bay
in New South Wales. Two Indigenous people from the area were unhappy and tried to stop Cook and
his crew from coming ashore. Cook s crew were greater in number and were able to overpower them.
They raised the British flag, which represented the taking of possession of land (Australia) for the
King of England. Cook explored further along the coast of Australia before returning to Britain with
the news of his discoveries and encounters.
This initial journey marked the beginning of great changes to the landscape of Australia and for the
local Indigenous people who lived there. The British believed they could settle on this new land in
New South Wales, which would also fix their issue of having many lawbreakers (convicts) and not
enough prisons to house them.

The Core Principles Of Marketing Theory
Thou shalt differentiate , (Fulmer and Goodwin, 1988; Levitt, 1980; MacMillan and McGrath, 1997)
refers to a well known acclamation for one of the core principles of marketing theory: differentiation.
Why does differentiation bear such an importance within the marketing World? To begin with, as our
World, in general, continues to develop and evolve around us, there are many products introduced the
population which can be of the same nature, however possess a bear minimum difference which may
influence us as consumers, to favor it over its enemy. Differentiation is the first step for effective
positioning and the key, which gives consumers more value from their product.
Perceived differentiation is crucial for branding of a company s product, especially against the many
rival companies, which have very similar products to offer to the same audience (market) with the
potential ability to make or break the company s future prosperity.
Perceived differentiation is an item constructed within consumer attitudes amongst the marketing
metrics spotlight. These metrics assist with carrying out certain measures to benefit branding as
measurement is the company s nervous system , pointed out by Sir Peter Davis when regarding the
emphasis of companies gathering enough knowledge about their consumer preferences.
All of these aspects and guidelines are taken into consideration when branding a certain product to
ensure that superior customer value had been created.

During this critical period of learning, children can be considered good or bad, clever or dull, happy or
unhappy, and so on. During this stage, children develop emotional habits that match the vision they
have of themselves, be behaving accordingly to certain lines that are taken by adults.
Most models are learned from parents and other family members. This leads to a certain type of
behavior whose duration depends upon the treatment it is given. If the parents are emotionally mature
and intelligent, A child will receive positive messages. This will let them understand the consequences
of their behavior and why they are favorable or not. Emotionally immature parents will probably
resort to methods such as yelling or physical aggression to correct the behavior. (Ciarrochi, Chan
Caputi, 2000).
Children will form on the emotional maturity as parents guide and practice with them, taking into
account above aspects, such as opening the heart, avoiding the power plays (abuse of authority, abused
and manipulated through fear), to be honest, avoid excessive control (being rigid), understand the
fears of children, encourage emotionally grown resources, teaching emotional self (say what you like
or dislike assertiveness) and be patient. Parents must realize that children learn a little at a time and
they are the main source of information. This is where the importance of Emotional Educating helps

World War I As The War
End All Wars knew World War I as the War. This massive war involved thirty two countries but a
country that had a very important role was Russia. In the beginning two sides formed, the allies and
the central powers. Russia was the first to mobilize its army because it came to the aid of its ally
Serbia after the assassination of their Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a terrorist group from Austria
Hungary. In result of Russia mobilizing it s army, Germany, who was in support of Austria Hungary,
declared war on Russia. Due to the Franco Russian alliance drafted previously in 1892 France then
mobilizes too. Soon after Germany declares war on France, Belgium and Great Britain gets involved
and they fought Germany on what was known as the Western Front. A day after the Serbs defeat the
Austro Hungarians at the Battle of the Cer the Russian army decides to attack Germany, advancing to
East Prussia. The battle of Russia and Germany was known as the Battle of Stallupönen on August
17th, 1914, which was the first battle on the Eastern Front. In this first battle of 84,000 Russians
against 16,000 Germans, The Russians were defeated. After that the Germans played their offense and
attacked the Russians on August 20th, at The Battle of Gumbinnen. Despite the offense attack the
Germans lost that battle because of their eagerness to defeat Russia in another effort to end the two
front war. The Russian Army decided to split up with Rennenkampf in control of the First Army and

Rise Of Atlantis Research Paper
The Rise of Atlantis
The first recorded telling of Atlantis was told by Plato. Some people debate that the first telling of
Atlantis was told by Solon 300 years prior to Plato s telling of Atlantis. The story starts when the
atlantic ocean was navigable and there was an island in front of the Pillars of Heracles. It was the said
to be bigger than libya and Asia together. The island of Atlantis was a powerful empire that ruled over
the whole island and several other parts of the world. Over 11,000 years ago Atlantis was the domain
of Poseidon who fell in love with a mortal woman called Cleito who gave birth to 5 sets of twin boys.

Smoky Mountains National Park. Although this is the case for most, if not all roads, it is important to

As most of the national park is geared towards hikers, campers and individuals who simply would like

The Lemon Test
The court case resulted in the establishment of a set of legal criteria for determining whether a law
violates the Establishment Clause in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The
Establishment Clause in the First Amendment states that the United States Congress cannot permit a
law that establishes religion or forbids the free speech thereof. This set of legal criteria was later
referred to as the Lemon Test . The Lemon Test consisted of three rules: First, the statute must have a
secular legislative purpose; second, its principal or primary effect must be one that neither advances
nor inhibits religion; finally, the statute must not foster an excessive government entanglement with
religion (Allison). In 1981, the National ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

True Equality for Women at the Workplace
People are judged by their gender, which often, in many situations, lead to bias decisions and
unfairness within business organizations for women. Women are often not held up to the standard of a
man in the business workforce, which leaves them with fewer position choices outside the norm. Most
jobs that women have are not demanding upon the body and require little to no strength. The failure to
understand adaptation by the government has caused many reforms in the past, but there are still many
flaws in the hiring system that often leave women asking questions and puzzled by the bias decisions
of men in charge of the management of positions. The fight for equality amongst women has been
going on for many years. Although women are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Historical Aspects Of Ancient China
As with all oracular processes, chance remains a pivotal aspect of divining the future. The use of
divination in the context of Ancient China is a way of explaining the unknown. Known in the Western
sphere as The Book of Changes, the Yijing/I Ching conversely known as Zhouyi is a document that
was incepted during the Bronze Age for the purposes of divination. The contents of the Yijing holds
sixty four short chapters, each consisting of three elements: a hexagram, a hexagram statement, and
six line statements. The hexagrams are drawings of six parallel lines, some whole and some broken.
The two kind of statements...explain the mantic value of each hexagram and each line. The creation of
the hexagrams were attributed to Fuxi, a ruler ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following line statements that accompany each individual line can also give further insight as to
whether the person asking the question will be successful in their endeavors. Though according to
Rutt, though its indications are sometimes appropriate to the theme of the lines, the hexagram
statement does not summarize the theme of its line statements, and in most cases has no thematic
connection with the...and cannot be said to provide a general summary of the hexagram s meaning...
Even if the divination process selects the same hexagram for varying situations, it does not guarantee
that they will all have the same outcome of success or failure. The Yijing is rooted in mathematics; the
basis of the hexagrams were inspired by nature, which can be debased to mathematical equations. 2 to
the power of 6 equates to the number of hexagrams within the document (64 total). Since numbers to
the power of 2, together with multiple symmetries, turn up everywhere in mathematical and physical
structures, Chinese scholars found no difficulty in applying the 64 hexagrams to everything from the
structure of crystals to the solar system. Hexagrams were also discovered to have relation to binary by
William Leibniz. Hexagrams in the Fuxi order, if written with 0 for the broken lines and 1 for the
whole lines, and with the bottom line at the right, gave the binary

Candide Paper
Candide is a fictional satire of the optimism many philosophers had for life in general during the mid
1700 s written in response to Alexander Pope s An Essay on Man. Written by Voltaire, the literary
alias of Francois Marie Arouet, the satire covers religion, the wealthy, love, why people thought
natural disasters occurred and especially, philosophy. The novel even goes on to make fun of the art of
literature by giving ridiculous chapter headings. Just about everything Voltaire put into Candide is
designed to question and satirize real world injustices. In effect Candide is the 18th century equivalent
of a modern day sitcom (Shmoop).
Just as modern day sitcoms expose the injustices of the world in an overly exaggerated and humorous

One example of the sarcasm on this subject is found in the scene where Candide is about to save an
Anabaptist who had just fallen into a heavy seas. This Anabaptist was responsible for nursing both
Candide and Dr. Pangloss, a philosopher back to health. He had fallen into the sea as a result of
rescuing a falling sailor. When Candide got ready to go in after the Anabaptist but Dr. Pangloss
stopped him telling him that the water was there put there for the purpose of drowning the Anabaptist.
Scenes like this appear and play out so quickly the audience is left asking themselves, Did that really
just happen? The scene is so ludicrous that nobody can take it seriously and therefore it is perceived as
a joke. By creating such a silly way in which philosophy is used, Voltaire gives the audience a reason
to laugh at would otherwise be thought of as a serious subject.
In addition to Philosophy, Voltaire also ridicules complacency throughout the entirety of his novel.
Complacency is shown as a product of the philosophical ideas portrayed through Candide and in many
scenes is the only reason that things are allowed to go from bad to worse. It is displayed while the
Anabaptist is drowning and again during the earthquake is Lisbon. During this scene, Candide is
begging for help after being hit in the head by a piece of a building and buried by rubble. However,
Dr. Pangloss would rather philosophize about why an

Table Tennis And Ping Pong
Why is table table tennis so similar to ping pong? Well they are exactly the same thing! Table tennis/
ping pong began in the 1880s, and was later trademarked in the United states by Parker Brothers, the
board game company. Like most other sports, table tennis had humble beginnings as a parlor game but
really it was open to anyone with access to a table, paddle, and a ball. In 1922, The Ping Pong
Association was formed but got renamed to The Table Tennis Association because they are the same
thing. Over the years table tennis popularity grew, table tennis became so popular because In 1902 a
visiting Japanese university professor took the game back to Japan, where he introduced it to
university students. Shortly after, a British salesman, Edward Shires, introduced it to the people of
Vienna and Budapest, [ . . . ]. Due to the popularity of table tennis and how successful it became it in
1902 the sport ended up going to Japan due to a Japanese University professor that was visiting. He
liked the game so much that when he went back to Japan he introduced it to his university students.
The sport also ended up going to Britain and spread pretty far to the Sunderland and Plymouth. In
1922, an All England Club was formed, which boasted such luminaries as Jack Hobbs the cricketer

La Casa De Bernarda Alba Analysis
The work of Federico García Lorca, La Casa de Bernarda Alba , is open to many interpretations due to
its profound symbolic nature. It gives an interesting representation of a middle class house consisting
entirely of women. The plot takes place in a small city, a middle class house in a society dominated by
men. It is believed that it was established somewhere in Spain in the 1930s. The work was written at a
time when the suppression of women was still strong. Mother Bernarda, the head of the house, does
everything she thinks is necessary to keep her house within a good social position in the city. The
mother had become the owner of the house after the death of her husband, which forces her to work
more to maintain a good reputation for her daughters house, composed of Anguistas, Magdalena,
Amelia, Martirio and Adela. By delving into the story one can find two sides of a dilemma that covers
the house and the women. In the midst of much of the drama that this house consumes is Poncia,
Bernarda s maid in the house. Poncia is one of the most interesting characters in this story, since he is
manipulating everyone for his own benefit. The name of Poncia comes from the biblical figure
poncios pilot, who was the judge in the trial of Jesus. Like Poncia, he did not want to get his hands
dirty in the dilemma. This dilemma is between religion and sex, and Poncia sees this problem as an
opportunity to end Bernarda. In this essay, I will analyze the tragic force that overthrows Adela,

Fannie Mae Fannie Freddie Mortgage Finance System
Fannie and Freddie remain two of the largest financial institutions in the world, responsible for a
combined $5 trillion in mortgage assets. The primary function of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is to
provide liquidity to the nation s mortgage finance system. Fannie and Freddie purchase home loans
made by private firms (provided the loans meet strict size, credit, and underwriting standards),
package those loans into mortgage backed securities, and guarantee the timely payment of principal
and interest on those securities to outside investors. Fannie and Freddie also hold some home loans
and mortgage securities in their own investment portfolios.
In 2008 Fannie and Freddie lost a combined $47 billion in their single family mortgage businesses,
forcing the companies to dig deep into their capital reserves. By late summer in 2008 about a year
after the start of the housing crisis Wall Street firms had all but abandoned the U.S. mortgage market,
while pension funds and other major investors throughout the world continued to hold large amounts
of Fannie and Freddie securities. After the housing market collapsed, Fannie and Freddie needed a
$200 billion bailout. If Fannie and Freddie were allowed to fail, experts agreed that the housing
market would collapse even further, paralyzing the entire financial system. The Bush administration in
September 2008 responded by placing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into government conservatorship,
where they remain today.

Volunteering is one of the many ways to give back to a community and the people within it. When a
person volunteers it is normally because he or she wants to repay the community in which he or she

relationships with people within that community. Lending a hand to someone in need is something
that should be identified as an important task, rather than being understood as a burden. Whether it is

In my opinion, without a clear strategy in mind it is difficult to reach the vision. I will give you an
example of strategy of InterGlobe Enterprises once a company has a clear picture of the organizational
environment, vision and mission, resources, the firm then creates a strategy to achieve the pre defined
goals. Our company deals majorly in industry of Information Technology and Aviation. Over a period
of years, both of the industries are recognized as booming. While the industries are booming, immense
of competition is also involved. To stay ahead in the industry, to meet the objectives, and to
accomplish the visionary image, IGT over a period time has developed a core organizational strategy
and top management ensure that each of us follow it. We have a very tactical approach while

Egg Freezing Controversy
The Controversy associated with Egg Freezing
Technological and scientific advancement has introduced various changes in the reproduction process.
For instance, women can undertake safe abortions, use birth control pills and freeze their eggs. The
idea of freezing eggs has often been used to help women undergo cancer treatment techniques that are
more likely to interfere with their fertility. Women with crippling genetic disorders have also used the
freezing option so that they can offer their eggs to someone that is not a carrier of the same disorder.
However, recently, healthy and fertile women tend to freeze their eggs with the claims of being busy
and focusing with their careers. Hence, they decide to postpone conception and pregnancy for a later
period. The behavior seems unethical because some of these women are simply persuaded by their
organizations and they agree with the idea because they are afraid of being sacked. The lack of

Reflection Paper On My Diet
Summary I had such an unhealthy diet before but my diet has changed since I made a few plans for
the Journal #1. And I was pretty good to keep it until when I just finished the Journal #2. Most of them
are going pretty well still now too but recently I have something wrong on my diet again. Even if I did
not plan such a big thing, to keep everything that I planned was a little difficult because I had been
having the unhealthy diet for a pretty long time which means it takes time to change my old habits. I
just realized that I am getting to return to my old habit and I have to plan again to improve it.
Challenges I realized that I am getting to return to my old diet habits and I was thinking about what
cause that. And I think the reason could be my schedule of the school because I realized that I usually
take food at home or school and I do not take an instant food at home anymore. It means the school is
the only place that I take food except for home. One of my challenges that I made was that taking a
breakfast and I still keep that because I could buy homemade Korean food that composed of a light
soup with a few side dishes which are very healthy food for every week. But at the school, I always
have two classes that from 8 or 9 a.m. to around 3 or 4 p.m. during the weekdays and I should take a
lunch at school. But, in the school I do not have many choices for food. So, I just take food for satiety
and I cannot digest well and it also cause that I take dinner at late night.

A Political Campaign Analysis
The political campaign environment in the United States changed in 2010 with the allowance of
unlimited independent expenditures by outside entities in elections. The courts decisions in Citizens
United and SpeechNow.org further increases Americans concerns regarding an undue influence of
money in politics. This, coupled with increasing polarization and congressional gridlock in the U.S.
House of Representatives, promotes skepticism of the political process. Polarization and gridlock
create perceptions that representatives do not represent the average voter preferences but represent big
moneyed interests (Briffault, 2011; Gilbert and Aiken, 2015) and donors, who are more ideologically
extreme than the average voter (Barber, 2014). Given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the 1960s, the decline of moderate ideological voters has allowed more active, partisan voters to

electoral conflict and promote a greater rallying effect around ideological partisan leanings of
particular candidacies. This diminishes the representation for the average constituents, median voters,

assumed complete control of 20th Century Fox. Initially Fox Television Station was a semi

The Pros And Cons Of Immigrants In America
Among the divisive and emotionally charged political debates raging in America today, one of the
most essential and questions everyone is trying to answer is often the one left unspoken: What does it
mean to be an American? As this debate continues today, immigrants have taken center stage in this
argument as both sides try to pinpoint what immigrants place in American society is today and some
would say not at all. Immigrants, however, are an integral and important part of the United States
today and to undervalue and ridicule everything that immigrants contribute to our country is a grave
mistake. Immigrants often represent what is best about the United States: ambition, enterprise, and the
determination to thrive in the face of adversity. Immigration reform has been a hot button issue in
Washington for many years. The United States has needed reform on its immigration policies for
decades, but no one can seem to agree on a solution. During George W. Bush s term in office, he
promoted a surprisingly liberal law that would have given immigrants who had come to the country
illegally the opportunity to apply for citizenship without being deported ( Immigration and Executive

reform was again ignored. No further laws to improve American immigration systems were passed

victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do not make the mistake of
thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there because they illegally opposed
the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many criminals and homosexuals in
Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse, Dachau, 151). With this quote, the
mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those he deems worthy of representation.
Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American Holocaust Museum also debated a
similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and
other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the
boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T.
Linenthal, Preserving Memory, 53). For this reason, and in order to avoid the generation of false
memories, these groups

Wilhelm II was born into royalty on the 27th of January 1859, at the Crown Prince s Palace in Berlin
to Prince Frederick William of Prussia who would later become the future Frederick III and his wife
Victoria, who is the oldest daughter of Britain s Queen Victoria. at the moment he was born, his great
uncle Frederick William IV was the king of Prussia. He was the first grandchild of Queen Victoria and
Prince Albert of England, and is also the first son of the Crown Prince of Prussia, Wilhelm was from
186, second in the line of succession to Prussia, and, after 1871, to the new German Empire, which
then according to the constitution of the German Empire, was ruled by the King of Prussia.
A birth defect left him with a withered left arm due to the disease Erb s palsy, which he then tried with
some success to conceal. Photos show him with a pair of white gloves in his left hand to make the
withered arm seem longer. In others, he holds his left hand with his right or has his withered arm on
the bottom of a sword. In others, he is seen holding a cane to give the image of a useful limb posed at
a dignified angle. His left arm was about 6 inches shorter than his right arm. Historians have
mentioned that the disability affected his emotional development. ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Lemonade
With being nominated for nine different awards, Beyonces visual album Lemonade is a one of a kind.
During this 1 hour and 5 minute video, you watch a story. It is an incredibly personal story to her as
you can see with her actions, facial expressions, and body language throughout the entire music video.
You can hear how personal this story is by listening to the lyrics of the twelve different songs in this
music video, by listening to the tone of voice that changes with every emotion, and by listening to the
spoken words/poetry carefully chosen to go between each song to portray an even bigger message that
is far beyond even her own lyrics. You watch Beyonce pour her heart out during the Lemonade visual
album about multiple topics that you can tell are very close to her heart. Lemonade touches on many
different topics but ultimately it is about her husband Jay Z, being unfaithful. Throughout Lemonade
you watch an emotion journey beginning at the first signs of infidelity in Beyonce and Jay Zs
relationship to, ultimately, her forgiveness. Each of the twelve songs in this visual album show how
Beyonce gets to the point of forgiveness and show her journey and how she dealt with the situation
before her. The first song of the visual album is Pray You Can Catch Me . When we are first
introduced to Beyonce in the visual album she is in the middle of a corn field. No makeup, simple
black hoodie on. She is distraught. She is saying I m prayin you catch me listening, because

LTCC Interposer Based High Voltage 3 D Power Module
Atanu Dutta, Simon Ang, and Zhong Chen
Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, USA
Abstract In this paper, a low temperature co fired ceramic (LTCC) interposer based high voltage (13
kV) half bridge power module is proposed. The proposed power module utilized multi layer LTCC
interposers to perform 3 D stack, which provides series connection between devices to achieve high
voltage rating of the power module. The proposed 3 D stack can be implemented through wafer level
packaging using silicon (Si) and silicon carbide (SiC) devices where paralleling of multiple devices is
required to achieve high current. In the proposed high voltage package design, through hole vias are
implemented to form electrical connections between multi layer self aligned LTCC interposers. The
LTCC interposers also provide excellent high voltage breakdown insulation for the proposed package
design. The package exhibits lower parasitic inductance compared to the traditional wire bonded
counterpart. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed power module design was simulated.
Index Terms High voltage power module, wafer level packaging, 3 D power module, wire bondless

Engel V Vitale
Since the year of 1962 many events have taken place; President Kennedy s assassination in 1963,
Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Voting Rights Act of 1965. One noteworthy event that changed the law
system of America is the court case of Engel V. Vitale. Since the Warren court found that Religion in
public schools broke a clause in the First Amendment, the Supreme court decided that schools that are
based on a religious system were to stop. Many thought that this landmark decision was going to
damage their freedom of religion but it actually kept their freedom safe. This decision also started the
end of Protestant domination of Public Education (Battle pg. 217) The verdicts and arguments of court
cases following Engel V. Vitale were heavily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance being mandatory at schools is unconstitutional. So, the
students of varied religions are free to follow their beliefs and if students of different nationalities feel
that saying the pledge is dishonoring their own country, they are also free to choose not to say the
pledge. Another reason this case was an improvement to the country in general is free to practice
religion. Many of the religious cases had an impact on Jehovah s Witnesses. There had been a lot of
charges on people of this religion because of their practice. It had been ruled that preventing Jehovah s
Witnesses from exercising their belief system was unconstitutional. Although Engel V. Vitale has
made an impact on many changes in America, it has also brought realization to problems left in the
dark. One large problem that is still not solved is the length of time that is taken to come to a verdict
for religious cases. A factor to this situation is the power protestants hold in the government. Cases
concerning religion takes longer than almost every other cases of different

Rainbow Formation Research Paper
Everyone enjoys the site of a rainbow expected after it rains on a sunny day; however, although a
rainbow formation is basic optics and geometry, it is highly misunderstood. Many understand the
appearance due to dispersion of light, but most do not realize what that entitles. What most people do
not expect when looking at a rainbow is that it moves as the observer moves (Cartwright, 1992).
Shown in the photo to the left, is a rainbow taken along the countryside in Missoula, Montana. To
further discuss how a rainbow works, one must understand the reflection refraction theories that cause
such a formation. A wave theory of light developed by Auguste Fresnel describes the bands that are
located beneath a rainbow, which are not as visible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rays of light come from a fixed direction as bundles, which always are red proving a greater
concentration of light from that fixed direction. This ray is called a caustic ray (Bim 1999). As the
height y of an incident ray increases from 0, the deflection of the outgoing ray decreases towards the
caustic ray, causing the y to pass the caustic ray, and the deflection increases again (Gordon de Pree,
Ph.D, 20) In specific conditions, the observer can see a secondary rainbow behind the primary
rainbow weaker and inverse in spectra, with red on the inside and violet on the outside. According to
Cartwright s article on Rainbows, the space between red and violet, regardless of direction, is called
the Alexander s Dark band, which is noticeably darker than its surroundings. This way of looking at
the matter along the direction of minimum deviation is shown to be equivalent to Mascart s
approximate method of explanation of the formation of the supernumerary bows by interference of
disturbances coming from the two poles on the special wave form is the consequence of the

Louis Sachar Research Paper
The development of characters in novels is important to create captivating books for the audience.
Today on Sunrise as part of our literature week, we are joined by American author Louis Sachar to
discuss how he creates his characters, in a special interview with me, Aidan Ryan. Sachar is a well
renowned author, having written more than 50 books, winning multiple awards. Thank you for flying
out Louis and welcome to the show it s great to have you here.
Thank you for inviting me to the show; it is a nice change of scenery.
In most of your novels, the plot revolves around the main characters and their actions. What in your
opinion is the critical tool in character creation?
The most essential tool? In my opinion it would have to be positioning, the way in which authors
make readers like or dislike any particular character in a novel. Most people don t realise it but we are
positioned to like or dislike every day, whether it be by television, print or in a novel. Writers create
language features, descriptions and behaviours to position the reader. Other methods of positioning
include the values and beliefs they have, the company they keep and attitudes they ... Show more

The Origin Of Nonverbal Communication
Whether you realize it or not, almost all of what you say doesn t come out of your mouth. In 1967, the
Journal of Consulting Psychology published a study conducted by two researchers, UCLA professor
Albert Mehrabian and Susan R. Ferris, that concluded that 93% of communication is considered
nonverbal. Nonverbal communication can be anything from tone of voice, body language, and
anything that doesn t come out of your mouth basically. Nonverbal communication varies across
cultures and sexes and is an essential part of our world. Knowing the facts about how we
communicate and the way we react to communication is important to increase trust, clarity, and add
interest to your presentation and appearance. Learning how to become sensitive to body language and
nonverbal cues will help you become better at portraying your intention.
Origins
The origin of nonverbal communication in our world is not quite easy to point out. On
http://www.study body language.com they point out two main reasons as to why this is. One is the
belief that body language evolved over time to help fill human social needs such as finding food,
needing shelter, or gathering together. Another is that there are so many different categories of
nonverbal communication. They can be divided up like traits that are universal and we are born with
or traits that we learn to use through our age and knowledge. We do have roots of the types of
communication we use such as our culture, personal habits, education and

Machiavelli s Satire
The basic principles of satire include the usage of writing techniques to criticize, expose, and ridicule
a topic or group of people. Techniques include the usage of comedy, irony, and exaggerations. Its
purpose is to point out foolishness or flaws of said topic, in hopes for improvement in the real world.
Irony is a common form of satire in which something is done or said, but has another (often opposite)
meaning. Irony is a form of satire because a character in a story/play being ironic can be considered
satirical. Due to satire s comedic nature, it is capable of exploiting and demonstrating follies in society
or a group of people without coming off entirely offensive, making it a desirable form of writing to
spread ideas and beliefs. Machiavelli s

  • 2. Randall Jarrell Essay The Fabulous Life and Works of Randall Jarrell The experience collected throughout a lifetime shape a person s identity, with each choice made, bringing one closer to self realization, and the lessons of the past always affecting the decisions of the future. This phenomenon can be clearly observed when looking back on the life and works of Randall Jarrell, a literary genius during the World War Two era. Throughout his life Jarrell collected experiences which shaped not only his works, but also forged who he became as a person. Events which occurred all the way from Jarrell s early childhood up to his late adulthood, and everything in between, were important to his development as a writer. His passion for poetry, his time spent criticizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amidst the onslaught of industrialism, propaganda, and the horrific realization of a world at war, arose the most celebrated work of Randall Jarrell. His most famous poem: The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, came from his own background with the air force. Although he was unable to meet the requirements for becoming a pilot Jarrell ...trained Air Force pilots and worked with them in the celestial navigation tower, (McCann 2) an experience which made him an authority figure among many wartime poets. Many of Jarrell s best works came from his time in the Air Force training pilots and operating the navigation tower. Having that kind of first hand experience with current events allowed Jarrell to reach an audience that became captivated by his poetry, which struck the heart of certain issues. Without these back influencing what he chose to write about and how he wrote it, Jarrell most certainly would not have been remembered as he currently is. More importantly, without the experiences that he had in his life Randall Jarrell would not have been able to become the person or the writer that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples actions cannot be considered savage. The Ibo are highly religious; the base of most of their daily life revolves around religion, whether it is how they raise their families or how they grow crops, such as yams. * In a savage setting, the parents would usually not bother to educate their children or abandon them at a very early age to fend for themselves. In the Ibo culture, the children learn socially complex skills, morals and discipline, which shows evidence of a civilized society. * They have complicated rituals involving masks ... The society itself is organized mostly by a person s title, which states their place in a sort of government. The Egwugwu act much like judges and the people themselves try to settle things peacefully between each other. Draft Intro: The Ibo people have a civilized community because they have an organized structure to their society with rules and laws. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples actions is not uncivilized. The importance of religion and communication, showing through art and music, shows their advanced mindset as a whole society. The Nigerian country also shows these qualifications, despite many beliefs that African countries are uncivilized, they are civilized as well. Family must play a large part in the civilized culture. This shows civilization by explaining how each member in a society is watched after and taken care of. Religion also must be taken seriously, and there must be a majority of one religion in a society, or else the culture is too diverse. This separates them from each other, halting any possible growing as a civilization. • 4. Modeling Cancer Cell Growth Of Cancer Modeling Cancer Cell Growth When researching mathematics in nature, one thing that my teacher had repeated was to find something that interested me. Wanting to become a biomedical engineer and having suffered many losses in my family due to cancer, exploring cancer was the obvious choice. Cancer is the leading cause of all human deaths in the world, and the financial costs of cancer have been estimated at $1.16 trillion US dollars per year as of 2010. The development of mathematical models of tumor cells is important to the growth kinetics, which may lead to the development of successful treatment strategies. Because of the great variance in malignant neoplasms (the cause of cancer), research has not been great enough to save the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this exploration, I decided to try to model the growth rate of tumor cells through calculus in order to discover the advantages and disadvantages of certain models, including the exponential model, the Gompertz model, and the Universal Law. Premise of the Exploration For this exploration, I will be using the data on the growth of tumor size found by a 1970 mouse mammary study (citation needed). This data was collected over the course of 40 days for two different types of cancer. This data has been used to create the Gompertzian model and the Fundamental Law, which I will use later in this exploration. Personality Traits And The Presidential Election Essay Hunter Garner Professor Thompson PSY 150.4142 8 November, 2016 Personality Traits and the Presidential Election Will we be Stronger Together or Make America Great Again Unless you have been living under a rock for the past two years, the United States of America has an election coming up on the eighth of November. This campaign has gotten ugly. There has been fighting, rioting, accusations of improper conduct, and a whole heap of other things between the two political parties. Some people would argue that our country is divided more now than ever in history. On the Democratic side, you have Senator Hillary Clinton. She has the motivation of becoming America s first female president. Over on the Republican side, you have Donald Trump, a billionaire, real estate mogul, businessman. These two candidates have two very different backgrounds. Hillary Clinton has been in the political arena since 1976. She was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2001 and was appointed as the U.S. Secretary of State in 2009. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has never held any kind of political office. He got into real estate in 1971 and has since then made the Trump name synonymous with real estate development. With their backgrounds being as different as they are, their personalities are just as different. Huffington Post polled 1,000 people asking them to describe Clinton and Trump in just one word. • 7. Essay on The Great Railroad Strike The Great Railroad Strike In the first half of the 19th Century the working class in the newly industrializing American society suffered many forms of exploitation. The working class of the mid nineteenth century, with constant oppression by the capitalist and by the division between class, race, and ethnicity, made it difficult to form solidarity. After years of oppression and exploitation by the ruling class, the working class struck back and briefly paralyzed American commerce. The strike, which only lasted a few weeks, was the spark needed to ignite a national revolt by the working class with the most violent labor upheavals of the century. Railroads were the big business of the mid nineteenth century. The rail companies employed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this period, many Americans, and particularly industrialists and the emerging middle class, came to embrace the doctrine of laissez faire. The poor were so because they lacked ability and determination. The rich were comfortable because of their superior talents and thrift, argued supporters of a new ideology which turned Charles Darwin s theory of evolution into a new vision of society s survival of the fittest. As the rich became richer and the poor became poorer, it was realized by the laborers of the railroad that their nation s economic growth and prosperity was not being equally shared among the people. Coupled with years of wage cuts (35% over 3 years), and workforce reductions, that then required remaining workers to work 15 18 hour days, the workers fought back. In May of 1877 the Pennsylvania line announced another wage reduction of 10% to the worker s along with speed ups (double the work). At this point the workers accepted it. Then in July of 1877 the Baltimore Ohio line announced a 10% cut in pay. The workers questioned management, ‘how could they survive on these wages and terms? But the owners did not listen, instead they took the position ‘quit if you don t like it . On July 16, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, some of the workers decided to ‘quit and refused to work. I will examine the relevance of these principles to the principles and practice of informal education, drawing on my practice and how my practice relates to both the ideas of Paulo Freire and the principles and practice of informal education in general. The educational thinker that I have selected is Paulo Freire. I have selected Freire as he speaks of the banking concept and having travelled through the education system, I believe this is something I have experienced. In my role, I am aware that the people, who I am delivering to or working with, have the freedom to leave at any time. In my practice, I see conversation as crucial. It allows me as an informal educator to explore the expectations and requirements of the young people that I work with. Through conversation, I gain an insight into their ethics and values and an understanding of their culture and environment. I believe that the banking concept prevents the learner from exploring their own thoughts or voicing their own opinion. only through conversation can human life hold meaning. (Freire, Extract 1, educational thinkers) In my practice, I am also aware that the people that I work with, often communicate with and share their feelings and needs with myself because I have shown them respect and built up a relationship with them, they may still experience difficulty communicating with others. • 10. Immune To Reality By Daniel Gilbert Summary Anybody can experience trauma, whether it s a man, a woman, or even a child. In fact, over half of the population is expected to experience trauma at least once in their lifetimes. However, everyone will respond to trauma in their own, unique, way, making it difficult to properly equip people with the tools needed to heal from trauma in the event they experience it. Whereas the responses a person and his or her body will have in the event of heart attack have been narrowed down to a small list, and can easily be conveyed to the public through general guidelines or PSAs, the responses a person will have to trauma can range anywhere from shrugging it off to suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is why the role of mental health professionals, such as therapists, is crucial in regards to helping sufferers of trauma. These professionals are specially trained to be capable of identifying and understanding the responses a person is having to a traumatic experience, as well as the optimal ways to go about the healing process. In Daniel Gilbert s Stumbling on Happiness, specifically the chapter titled Immune to Reality, he analyzes what he calls the psychological immune system, a defence mechanism of the psyche which plays a prominent role in how a person will respond in the event of trauma. While Gilbert outlines the mechanisms that cause people to respond to trauma in the way that they do, Dana Becker, author of One Nation Under Stress, looks at the actual ... The book of short stories, Interpreter of Maladies, readers are able to see a difference in the way people from India are brought up in relation to people from mainly the New England area of The United States. • 12. Masque Of The Red Death Essay The Masque of the Red Death was published in May of 1842 by Edgar Allen Poe. It s clearly an allegorical story, one that can be more narrowly defined as a parable. A parable is defined by Encyclopedia Britannica as a fable like story which uses humans instead of animals, and draws an analogy between a particular instance of human behavior...and human behaviour at large . It s specifically designed to deliver a moral message or lesson, and the one in Masque is that no one can escape death, no matter what artifices are placed to obstruct it. This is interesting, but the real magnificence of the tale is in the literary genre in which Poe tells it, which is the Grotesque. The definition of this term in literature is a bit indistinct, but can be reduced to a couple of key characteristics: The Grotesque fits in between the real and the fantastic, while being simultaneously centered between funny and frightening (The Grotesque). (Di Renzo, 193) Harold Bloom argues that the novella isn t grotesque at all, but Arabesque: The Mask of the Red Death is one of Poe s most memorable Arabesques (Bloom, 13). While this is partially true because of the psychological aspects of the piece, it s not entirely accurate as a representation of the entire work. The creation of terror, the juxtaposition of the real and supernatural, the absurdity and almost comical aspects, all the poles of what we understand the grotesque to mean have been solidly touched upon in The Masque of the Red Death. Poe himself refined and encapsulated a coherent meaning for the grotesque, and the tale stands as a perfect example of what a good representation of it should strive to ... They explored the world creating colonies all over, but January 18, 1788 is when they first colonized Australia bringing with them many convicts from Britain. Through their exploration and colonization they traded many economic, political, and social aspects from Britain with the aborigines that they encountered in Australia. Without Britain sending people over to Australia, the continent known as the land down under would not be the same today. Aside from the occasional Indonesian trader or curious European sailor, the majority of the Australian Indigenous population had never seen other humans for many thousands of years. Yet, during the late 18th century, this would all change as the Europeans began to explore and inhabit Australia. During 1770, Captain James Cook, a British Lieutenant, landed his ship theEndeavour at Botany Bay in New South Wales. Two Indigenous people from the area were unhappy and tried to stop Cook and his crew from coming ashore. Cook s crew were greater in number and were able to overpower them. They raised the British flag, which represented the taking of possession of land (Australia) for the King of England. Cook explored further along the coast of Australia before returning to Britain with the news of his discoveries and encounters. This initial journey marked the beginning of great changes to the landscape of Australia and for the local Indigenous people who lived there. The British believed they could settle on this new land in New South Wales, which would also fix their issue of having many lawbreakers (convicts) and not enough prisons to house them. We looked like shooting stars as fairydust fell off of us as we raced through the stars. Once we started to slow down I noticed a small orange planet glowing in the distance. Most models are learned from parents and other family members. This leads to a certain type of behavior whose duration depends upon the treatment it is given. If the parents are emotionally mature and intelligent, A child will receive positive messages. This will let them understand the consequences of their behavior and why they are favorable or not. Emotionally immature parents will probably resort to methods such as yelling or physical aggression to correct the behavior. (Ciarrochi, Chan Caputi, 2000). Children will form on the emotional maturity as parents guide and practice with them, taking into account above aspects, such as opening the heart, avoiding the power plays (abuse of authority, abused and manipulated through fear), to be honest, avoid excessive control (being rigid), understand the fears of children, encourage emotionally grown resources, teaching emotional self (say what you like or dislike assertiveness) and be patient. It gives an interesting representation of a middle class house consisting entirely of women. The plot takes place in a small city, a middle class house in a society dominated by men. It is believed that it was established somewhere in Spain in the 1930s. The work was written at a time when the suppression of women was still strong. Mother Bernarda, the head of the house, does everything she thinks is necessary to keep her house within a good social position in the city. The mother had become the owner of the house after the death of her husband, which forces her to work more to maintain a good reputation for her daughters house, composed of Anguistas, Magdalena, Amelia, Martirio and Adela. By delving into the story one can find two sides of a dilemma that covers the house and the women. In the midst of much of the drama that this house consumes is Poncia, Bernarda s maid in the house. Poncia is one of the most interesting characters in this story, since he is manipulating everyone for his own benefit. The name of Poncia comes from the biblical figure poncios pilot, who was the judge in the trial of Jesus. Like Poncia, he did not want to get his hands dirty in the dilemma. And I was pretty good to keep it until when I just finished the Journal #2. Most of them are going pretty well still now too but recently I have something wrong on my diet again. Even if I did not plan such a big thing, to keep everything that I planned was a little difficult because I had been having the unhealthy diet for a pretty long time which means it takes time to change my old habits. I just realized that I am getting to return to my old habit and I have to plan again to improve it. Challenges I realized that I am getting to return to my old diet habits and I was thinking about what cause that. And I think the reason could be my schedule of the school because I realized that I usually take food at home or school and I do not take an instant food at home anymore. It means the school is the only place that I take food except for home. One of my challenges that I made was that taking a breakfast and I still keep that because I could buy homemade Korean food that composed of a light soup with a few side dishes which are very healthy food for every week. But at the school, I always have two classes that from 8 or 9 a.m. to around 3 or 4 p.m. during the weekdays and I should take a lunch at school. But, in the school I do not have many choices for food. So, I just take food for satiety and I cannot digest well and it also cause that I take dinner at late night. ... • 36. A Political Campaign Analysis The political campaign environment in the United States changed in 2010 with the allowance of unlimited independent expenditures by outside entities in elections. The courts decisions in Citizens United and SpeechNow.org further increases Americans concerns regarding an undue influence of money in politics. This, coupled with increasing polarization and congressional gridlock in the U.S. House of Representatives, promotes skepticism of the political process. Polarization and gridlock create perceptions that representatives do not represent the average voter preferences but represent big moneyed interests (Briffault, 2011; Gilbert and Aiken, 2015) and donors, who are more ideologically extreme than the average voter (Barber, 2014). Given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the 1960s, the decline of moderate ideological voters has allowed more active, partisan voters to determine election outcomes. This produces greater ideological conflict and stimulates a further decrease in the level of voter turnout by ideological moderates (Rogowski, 2014; Ansolabehere, et. al, 1994). Outside money that supports or opposes a particular partisan candidate can increase the level of electoral conflict and promote a greater rallying effect around ideological partisan leanings of particular candidacies. This diminishes the representation for the average constituents, median voters, and ideological moderates. Diminishing representation of average constituent interests in Congress also has a detrimental effect on political efficacy and willingness to participate in electoral politics by average ... My brother and dad wanted to go on it because it looked fun, but the estimated waiting time was three hours. My friend and I were smart enough not to stand in that line all day, so we left them, and went searching for another roller coaster. My friend and I walked through the park, anxious to get on another ride. We spotted a cool looking coaster, so we dashed over to it. The sign in front of the entrance read Estimated wait time: 5 minutes. • 38. Federal Communications Commission vs. Fox Television... In the case of the Federal Communications Commission vs. Fox Television Stations Inc., I will discuss the background and the role of the FCC in the United States, the history of Fox Television Stations Inc. and analyze the arguments of both sides. Based on those arguments I will answer the question did the Supreme Court get it right on the decision of this case. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was created when Congress passed the Communications Act in 1934 which abolished the Federal Radio Commission and transferred jurisdiction of radio licensing to the Federal Communications Commission. This also included the telecommunications jurisdiction which was previously handled by the Interstate Commerce Commission. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the Metromedia deal was made Murdoch purchased Davis s shares and News Corporation assumed complete control of 20th Century Fox. Initially Fox Television Station was a semi autonomous unit in which News Corporation owned over 99 percent of the equity, but only 24 percent of the voting power. The balance was held personally by Murdoch. During this particular era the Federal Communications Commission regulations stated it prohibited foreign interests or non American citizens from controlling more than 25 percent of an FCC licensed broadcast station. Though News Corporation was still based in Australia Murdoch became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1985 and the transfer of majority voting to Murdoch was now sufficient (http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Television_Stations). As of today, Rupert Murdoch is still the chairman and controlling shareholder of News Corporation and believes that all forms of media should not be free during this era of global media empires (http://topics.nytimes.com). The main concern of this case was the adequacy of the Federal Communications Commission s explanation of its decision that it sometimes forbids broadcasting of indecent expletives even when the offensive words are not repeated and if the FCC has the power to punish the station for the vulgarity (FCC v. Fox, 2009, p. 1). The broadcasting stationed believed this was violating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Pros And Cons Of Immigrants In America Among the divisive and emotionally charged political debates raging in America today, one of the most essential and questions everyone is trying to answer is often the one left unspoken: What does it mean to be an American? As this debate continues today, immigrants have taken center stage in this argument as both sides try to pinpoint what immigrants place in American society is today and some would say not at all. Immigrants, however, are an integral and important part of the United States today and to undervalue and ridicule everything that immigrants contribute to our country is a grave mistake. Immigrants often represent what is best about the United States: ambition, enterprise, and the determination to thrive in the face of adversity. Immigration reform has been a hot button issue in Washington for many years. The United States has needed reform on its immigration policies for decades, but no one can seem to agree on a solution. During George W. Bush s term in office, he promoted a surprisingly liberal law that would have given immigrants who had come to the country illegally the opportunity to apply for citizenship without being deported ( Immigration and Executive Action... ). This legislation never passed due to strong resistance from Republicans and immigration reform was again ignored. No further laws to improve American immigration systems were passed during Bush s presidency ( Immigration and Executive Action... ). With Obama succeeding Bush and assuming ... While the circumstances in which she has this revelation are a bit extreme, it shows that in her society, there is an implicit message that being white is equal to being beautiful and that if you re a young white girl, you re beautiful but, if you re a young black girl, you re a monster. • 41. The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust Memorial 1.) Memorialization of any sort can be a tedious process, but those regarding Holocaust remembrance were particularly challenging given the surrounding social and political controversies that ensued. This is primarily seen through the issue of representation, which consistently played a key role in the creation of both the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C., and the Dachau concentration camp memorial. While the Dachau memorial s conception stages, the designers were contemplating which victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do not make the mistake of thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there because they illegally opposed the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many criminals and homosexuals in Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse, Dachau, 151). With this quote, the mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those he deems worthy of representation. Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American Holocaust Museum also debated a similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T. • 45. Ltcc Based High Voltage 3 D Power Module LTCC Interposer Based High Voltage 3 D Power Module Atanu Dutta, Simon Ang, and Zhong Chen Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, USA Abstract In this paper, a low temperature co fired ceramic (LTCC) interposer based high voltage (13 kV) half bridge power module is proposed. The proposed power module utilized multi layer LTCC interposers to perform 3 D stack, which provides series connection between devices to achieve high voltage rating of the power module. The proposed 3 D stack can be implemented through wafer level packaging using silicon (Si) and silicon carbide (SiC) devices where paralleling of multiple devices is required to achieve high current. In the proposed high voltage package design, through hole vias are implemented to form electrical connections between multi layer self aligned LTCC interposers. The LTCC interposers also provide excellent high voltage breakdown insulation for the proposed package design. The package exhibits lower parasitic inductance compared to the traditional wire bonded counterpart. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed power module design was simulated. Rainbow Formation Research Paper Everyone enjoys the site of a rainbow expected after it rains on a sunny day; however, although a rainbow formation is basic optics and geometry, it is highly misunderstood. Many understand the appearance due to dispersion of light, but most do not realize what that entitles. What most people do not expect when looking at a rainbow is that it moves as the observer moves (Cartwright, 1992). Shown in the photo to the left, is a rainbow taken along the countryside in Missoula, Montana. To further discuss how a rainbow works, one must understand the reflection refraction theories that cause such a formation. Rays of light come from a fixed direction as bundles, which always are red proving a greater concentration of light from that fixed direction. This ray is called a caustic ray (Bim 1999). As the height y of an incident ray increases from 0, the deflection of the outgoing ray decreases towards the caustic ray, causing the y to pass the caustic ray, and the deflection increases again (Gordon de Pree, Ph.D, 20) In specific conditions, the observer can see a secondary rainbow behind the primary rainbow weaker and inverse in spectra, with red on the inside and violet on the outside. According to Cartwright s article on Rainbows, the space between red and violet, regardless of direction, is called the Alexander s Dark band, which is noticeably darker than its surroundings. Sachar is a well renowned author, having written more than 50 books, winning multiple awards. Thank you for flying out Louis and welcome to the show it s great to have you here. Thank you for inviting me to the show; it is a nice change of scenery. In most of your novels, the plot revolves around the main characters and their actions. What in your opinion is the critical tool in character creation? The most essential tool? In my opinion it would have to be positioning, the way in which authors make readers like or dislike any particular character in a novel. Most people don t realise it but we are positioned to like or dislike every day, whether it be by television, print or in a novel. Writers create language features, descriptions and behaviours to position the reader. In 1967, the Journal of Consulting Psychology published a study conducted by two researchers, UCLA professor Albert Mehrabian and Susan R. Nonverbal communication can be anything from tone of voice, body language, and anything that doesn t come out of your mouth basically. Nonverbal communication varies across cultures and sexes and is an essential part of our world. Knowing the facts about how we communicate and the way we react to communication is important to increase trust, clarity, and add interest to your presentation and appearance. Learning how to become sensitive to body language and nonverbal cues will help you become better at portraying your intention. Origins The origin of nonverbal communication in our world is not quite easy to point out. On http://www.study body language.com they point out two main reasons as to why this is. One is the belief that body language evolved over time to help fill human social needs such as finding food, needing shelter, or gathering together. Another is that there are so many different categories of nonverbal communication. They can be divided up like traits that are universal and we are born with or traits that we learn to use through our age and knowledge.
