Football Targeting Rules Essay
The Targeting Rule Should Be Taken Out of Football
What do you expect when big grown men are running and hitting each other full speed?
Throughout the history of football, hard hits have been a major part of the sport. It is a rough
and physical sport that is not for everyone. Over the past 5 years, more rules have been set in
place to protect players from suffering concussions. The targeting rule has gotten so severe, that
you can now get ejected from a game. The severity of the new rules are not good for the sport, and
they need to be changed.
Football is a one of the most violent sports that anyone can play. Trying to make it safe is almost
impossible. The consequences of the rules have gotten so serious, that it has effected the way that
players play the game now. The rule changes has caused defensive players to play more
conservative. This makes it easier for offenses to catch ball, and indirectly creates and unfair
advantage. Defensive players are more timid about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the Georgia Bulldogs were playing the Vanderbilt Commodores and there was a
questionable play. The officials ended up ruling the play targeting and a star linebacker for
Georgia was ejected from the game. He was a very important piece to the defense, and this penalty
caused to place a new player in the game that was not use to playing a lot. The change effect the
game immediately, because on that same drive Vanderbilt scored to take the lead and ended up
winning the game. This is has a major impact to the players in the NFL as well. Multiple
instances have occurred where the targeting rule has been enforced and the players end up getting
fined thousands of dollars playing the game that they are getting paid to play. It is their job to play
football and it makes it hard for the players to do their job efficiently when rules like this interfere

Internal And External Sources Of Finance For Tesco P4
Internal and external sources of finance for Tesco
Internal sources of finance (Tesco)
Retained earnings:
A source of finance used by Tesco is retained earnings. Tesco re invest a certain percentage of their
end of the year profits back into Tesco, so they can improve it. Each year Tesco decide how much
money they re invest, this depends on the profit they make.
Fixed assets:
Another type of an internal source of finance for Tesco is fixed assets. Fixed assets are an asset that
is not consumer or sold during the normal course of business, these are land, buildings, equipment,
machinery, vehicles etc. These assets are very hard to convert into cash as it takes time to sell,
Tesco would use these assets to fund future operations.

Business angels usually invest in companies around their home so they can check up on their
investments.
Government Grants:
Tesco are Britain s biggest supermarket and due to this they employ thousands. The government
can give Tesco grants and money to invest back into Tesco. The government will benefit because
if Tesco invest the money wisely they will have a successful year therefore the government will
receive more tax. An example of Tesco receiving a government grant was in 2009 when they
received ВЈ5 million to open a new store in Glasgow.
HP:
Hire purchase is when a company or person lends out goods to companies for a short period of
time, with added interest. Tesco could benefit if they were the company as they would lend out
equipment, machinery, property and vehicles, as they would gain interest and also regain some of
their investment into the product.
Suppliers credit:
Supplier s credit is when a supplier offers the buyer the product they want on credit. This is like
getting a loan of sorts as Tesco can pay at a later date. This benefits Tesco as they can order as
much stock as they need even if they haven t got the finances at that time.
Sale and lease back:
This is when Tesco sells something to a buyer such as equipment, machinery etc and the buyer leases
the product back to Tesco immediately. This benefits Tesco as they can use the product without
being tied down to the product financially. To Tesco there is some tax benefits to

Comparing Venus And Ovid s Metamorphosis
Titan s inspiration of Adonis and Venus originated in the story of Ovid s Metamorphosis . Overall,
it s a love story between Goddess Venus and Adonis. The artwork display movement as Venus
attempts to stop Adonis from meeting his fate before he died hunting a boar while his dogs eagerly
wait. His interpretation took reference from Greek mythologyand other mythical stories during the
renaissance. Nearly 100 years later, Rueben was inspired by Titan s original theme. Based on his
composition and the position of the lovers are strikingly similar. Despite the similarity, the different

In the meantime Rueben went for flat plains to occupy the backgrounds. Both artists were

had her back turned away from the viewers in Rueben while Titan cause Venus s body to face the
opposite way. , Rueben influence of style goes towards baroque with softer tones on the skin along
with the softness of the textures including the hunting dog s fur and trees. Titan s influence clings
from mannerism due to the elongated bodies with little focus of the background using dull colors.

Big Two Hearted River, Part I, By Ernest Hemingway
Success comes only to those who stand firm throughout the trials and tribulations the world has
to offer, as many people come to realize through the gaining of their personal life experience. In
Big Two Hearted River, Part I , Ernest Hemingway utilizes figurative language such as symbolism,
imagery, and metaphors in order to impart and emphasize the importance of one s determination to
endure the challenges of existence in relation to their overall prosperity. Readers are led to reflect
on how persevering through the negative experiences in one s life can ultimately lead to positive
experiences, as well as the role perseverance plays in the lifelong search for stability. According to
Hemingway, the only method of attaining true... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is unclear whether or not they will stay that way permanently, but Nick has hope that they will
overcome their unfortunate situation; when he wonders how long they will be stained, Nick is
insinuating that there will eventually come a day, be it in weeks or years, that the grasshoppers
will return to their natural state. Hemingway uses this metaphor to parallel our perception of
Nick himself. The trauma Nick has endured throughout his life has impacted him as well as his
identity significantly, but there is hope and the promise of a better future if he is willing to
withstand the burden in the meantime. This sentiment is echoed by Nick when he lets go of the
grasshopper, instructing it to fly away somewhere (212). The message conveyed here is that life
goes on; though the grasshoppers are sullied by their experiences, as they might be for a while,
there is a way for them to be free and thus, there must be a way for Nick to be free as well. The
rewards that follow in the wake of a negative or traumatic event are earned by the mere fact that
an individual was not willing to be swayed from their path or to give up simply on the basis that
it was difficult. Nick himself sums it up rather nicely when he states that he s ...got a right to eat

Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc
Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in
regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines
alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem,
Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature
and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can
truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance
with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc
seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont
Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful
but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and
then asks how that influences the creative human mind.
Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and
bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also
receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by
memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one
of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Wordsworth

Literary Devices In Tanerine
A tangerine is not only a citrus fruit, but also a county in Florida that is home to Paul Fisher and
his older brother Erik. In the novel titled Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul Fisher, the protagonist,
is not only bullied at school, but also at home by his brother, while having to live in the house
where his dad lives in the illusion of the Erik Fisher Football Dream. In this new county that Paul
moves to, he constantly has to put up with natural disasters like muck fires and sinkholes. The
move from Houston, Texas to Tangerine County, Florida is the start of a new chapter for the Fisher
family, especially Paul. Throughout the entire novel, the author s use of literary devices is very
clear. These literary devices, specifically similes and personification, help the reader get a better

What Is Communication Across Social Class
Communication Across Strong Social and Economic Barriers One can communicate across social
or economic classes. Class barriers prohibit the communication across classes. Time makes the
transition between these defined class structures much more easy for a person, no matter their
current class. Charles Dickens compares the identity of an escaped convict and a boy in his
Victorian era novel Great Expectations, while E.L. Doctorow compares the identity of an upper
class family and a Jewish immigrant family in his 20th century novel Ragtime. The increase in
communication and transition across social and economic classes, in both novels, show the
possibility for the destruction of highly restrictive class barriers. The communication across... Show

During Pip s conversation with the escaped convict, the convict claims, I ve been a sheep
farmer, stock breeder, other trades (Dickens 249). The difference between an escaped convict,
the lowliest of classes, to a tradesman, middle class, proves the ability to transition between
social classes. However, the size of the class structure transition poses an extreme challenge. The
escaped convict conquered the challenge, but did not immediately move up the class structure.
This took a long period of time, approximately fifteen years after Pip s first encounter with the
convict, due to the repercussions an escaped convict faces along with the lack of a paying job
while in jail. Without the extended period of time, the convict would not have a chance to move to
a new class structure. The same concept applies to an immigrant. Mother and Tateh marry fulfilling
his journey up class structures: But his great success was still to come. The family found tenants
for the house in New Rochelle and moved out to California. They lived in a large white stucco
house with arched windows and an orange tile roof (Doctorow 319). Tateh transitions from the
father of a Jewish immigrant family to marrying a successful business woman. The progression up
the class structure took longer for Tateh than the ragtime era would last.

Tao Te Ching Book Report
Trying to understand the concept of the Tao Te Ching is hard for someone to do fast because the
text is complex. However after a person is able to sit and actually analyze the text they are able to

that Tao Tzu wrote in his book the Tao Te Ching
are important life learnings. Early Taoism
philosophers left cities to learn from nature and people living the life of the Tao, hopeful to
bring human civilization into the natural order. Lao Tzu left the Chinese emperor s court on a

There are also people who use the two approaches at the same time not defining to a specific

tremendous. Taoism does have a religious aspect to it. However I concentrate on the
philosophical aspect which is compatible with other religions. Many Christians freely explore
the concepts of Taoism and add whatever they think is useful to their own beliefs. The idea is to
explore and learn the correct way or the better way to live life and to conduct our lives by
understanding some of the principles that rule our lives. I grew up Roman Catholic but I do not

The Tyranny Of White Majority Essay
The United States, even though considered the land of freedom, has been struggling with lingering
racism and discrimination throughout the 19th and 20th century. Democratic reform throughout the
century were implanted to eliminate the tyranny of the white majority Yet many scholars like
Tocqueville, Fredrick Harris and WEB DuBois have challenged these results. The reality is that the
tyranny of white majority has continued throughout the 18th to the 21st century resulting in a
society that has suppressed and constantly failed to integrate African Americaninto the white society
by neglecting the race, using natural prejudice, race neutral policies, and laws that benefited whites
more than African Americans.
Even before the 13th amendment and emancipation of slaves, small reforms in the northern
states were being implemented to create a true free society. One would argue that these reforms
were the first steps of a liberal reform that would lead to the eventual equality amongst the two
races but what is forgotten is that even though reforms were passed the white majority had a
natural prejudice. Tocqueville explains what makes the natural prejudice was the disgrace the
African American ethnicity received by being forced as slaves. This slavery was based on race
rather than being like ancient slavery which had nothing to do the face of a person (PG 400). The
African Americans who were considered free during the that were still disgraced because as
Tocqueville said free

Recording Observations For Patients Is Vital
Recording observations for patients is vital. It is a way for nurses to communicate to each other
about what signs the patient is displaying but also when and how much food and/or medications

Never record that you have administered a medication or carried out a task BEFORE you have
done so. If you become distracted then you could forget to administer the medication or complete
the task but as you have already recorded it then you and other nurses will assume the patient has
had that task completed. This can become dangerous as it then means that the patient could
potentially miss having the required medication administered. This is particularly important in
hospitalised patients who are receiving several different medications a day and require them to be
administered at specific times, so they each have time to be absorbed into the blood stream and not
interfere with each other. When recording medication you must ensure that you record the type of
medication, time administered, date administered, amount administered and who administered the
medication. If also possible have some witness that you administered the medication and record
who witnessed it.
Food and water: When recording the intake of food you must include the type of food offered (i.e.
Hill s Science Diet Adult Dry), the amount offered (i.e. ВЅ a cup), the time it was offered, the type
of dish it was offered in (i.e. metal, plastic), how long the food was left in the cage for (i.e. 15

The Characters Of Professor Van Helsing And Count Dracula
Stoker produced two eccentric characters of opposite conflicts that were rather identical in their
means of doing. Professor Van Helsing and Count Dracula were the main identities in Stoker s
Dracula because they both represented areas of strict morals such as good and evil, respectively.
Although the two men present rather general characteristics of their due morals, Stoker also gave
subtle commonalities to them. Although Draculahappens to be the evil of the story, it can also be
presumed that he may be the good while Van Helsing is the bad. Even though Stoker indicates that
the characters remain in their set of morals, both of them presume to acquire each other s attributes,
furthermore.
Van Helsing and Dracularepresent the two sides of humanity in a rather vital way; Stoker used both
men as individuals but with the overall sense of completion. Whereas one represents what is
thought to be holy while the other evil, it is rather ambiguous that this is so. Stoker provides
context within his characters however, which provides them with similarities usually disguised as
faults. The Professor and the Count are quite indistinguishable because of how Stoker portrays them
as two sides to one coin thus allowing each to have their own distinction whilst obtaining similar
convictions. Their characters are rather interchangeable since they both exhibit: determination
towards their overall goal, strength in times of other s weakness, and influential capabilities over
others.

Letters; they don t just make up the words on a page or a screen. Forms, counterforms and

typography designers of current times.
From the Beginning Born in 1937 in London, Carter grew up with an expanded knowledge of

back in London, still working with Linotype but also freelancing. In 1974 he created Bell

Carter left Bitstream to pursue more design work.
The Phone Book Bell Centennial was the first digital typeface design that Matthew Carter worked

Carter mentions the constraints a designer has to conform to at times, unlike fine art. This is a

Lysistrata Analysis Essay
Lysistrata is a tale which is centered around an Athenian woman named Lysistrata and her comrades
who have taken control of the Acropolis in Athens. Lysistrata explains to the old men how the
women have seized the Acropolis to keep men from using the money to make war and to keep
dishonest officials from stealing the money. The opening scene of Lysistrataenacts the stereotypical
and traditional characterization of women in Greece and also distances Lysistrata from this
overused expression, housewife character. The audience is met with a woman, Lysistrata, who is

The old men protest how the women they have nourished all these years have turned against them
and seized a sacred shrine. Although, while the men are busy with their smoking logs, the women
walk in carrying pitchers of water which they will pour over the fires which the men have set. The
old men and old women trade insults, but the women will not back down, and they empty their

behavior is the result of the men spoiling their women and treating them with gentleness when they
do not deserve to be cherished. The magistrate orders the men to force open the doors, but he
moves to a safe distance to watch.
When the doors are forced open, Lysistrata emerges. The magistrate orders her arrested, but the
policeman is too intimidated by Lysistrata to arrest her. The other women join Lysistrata in
defying the policemen, who are too cowed to follow the magistrate s orders to seize the women.
The magistrate responds to the women s actions with a claim, they shall never lose to women and
the newly brave police attack the women, but they are soon beaten off and in retreat. The women
say they can administer the money, since they are used to administering the household money.
Lysistrata also tells the magistrate how the women have been patient while the men got ready for
the war and refused to listen to any advice.

How Different Temperatures Effect The Cell Membrane Of A...
How different temperatures effect the cell membrane of a beetroot
Hypothesis: The more betalain is leaked when the membrane is in higher temperatures
Abstract:
The experiment which was conducted was to identify the effects of temperature of the beetroot
discs. Majority of the pigment from the beetroot is found within the vacuole which is called
anthocyanin and each of the vacuole is surrounded by a tonoplast membrane. Externally the
cytoplasm is surrounded by the plasma membrane hence the foundation of the experiment
depends on the temperature which will rapture the membrane and lead to a leakage of the
pigment. The experiment consists of several different temperatures and same sized beetroot
discs, the beetroot discs will be placed in 3 sets of discs in a tube test tube which will be placed
in the distilled water in same test tube. Using a colorimeter once the beetroot have been exposed to
the temperatures the colour of the distilled water will change therefore leaving a coloured water to
be measured by a colorimeter, this is because the colorimeter measures the light being passed
through the solution.
Introduction:
The experiment is conducted to find out how the membrane is affected by different temperatures.
Betalain pigment increases with high temperatures because most mammalian proteins denature and
tertiary structure unravels because the strong covalent bonds between the R groups of amino acids
in the polypeptide chains are destroyed at temperatures over 45В°C.

I have learned about the Portland s water system in the first of a few weeks. I have learned the
Portland s water resources, water quality management, history of water system, water

system to another city in the United States. I pick up Seattle s water system because I lived in
Seattle for two years before I move to Portland, and I m interested in the Seattle s water system. In
this journal, I write about the following sections: History of Seattle s water system, water
resources, water quality management, water transportation, water issues in Seattle, and conclusion
(similarities and differences between Seattle s water system and Portland s water system). History:
In the 19th century, Seattle s water came from springs, wells, and private water companies.
However, the population of Seattle increased in the late 19th century, and the demand for water
supply also increased. In June 6, 1889, there was a large fire what is called Great Seattle Fire in
downtown Seattle. After this event, government decided to establish municipal water system. After
this plan was approved, the government constructed the Cedar River water system. On January
10th, 1901, water from the Cedar River flowed into Seattle s water system for the first time. A
pipeline channeled water to the Lincoln reservoirs and the Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. When

Persepolis is the realistic novel about the life Marjane in pre and post progressive war in Iran and
her transition in Europe. The novel explains Satrap s development from young sge to defiant punk
cherishing adolescent in Iran. Importantly, its mostly it covered Satrap growing strains of the
political atmosphere in Iranin during the 70s and 80s, with individuals from her liberal inclining
family kept and afterward executed, and the foundation of the grievous Iran/Iraq war. This novel
also explains fear of loss, suffering, and inequality. There are several factors that shape Marjane

The oppression from the war had effect on Marjane life change her moral and value because the

Early Childhood Development Is A Beneficial Tool, It...
Babies are fascinating. According to the Center for Disease Control, 3,932,181 of them were
born in the United States in 2013, of which 40.6% were born to unmarried women. It is true that
most parents want what is best for their children; however, the methodology and resources for
childrearing vary from home to home. Today s society is built on self discipline, self reliance, and
skill; therefore, the development of little ones must take center stage. However, this development
is unique just as the children and the parents who are responsible for their upbringing are unique.
While preschool programs can be a beneficial tool, it should not be mandatory because there is no
significant evidence of success for federally funded programs; early childhooddevelopment occurs
diversley among children; and parents alone are best qualified and responsible to nurture their
preschoolers as they see fit.
Some believe that the best way to tackle the challenge of a high functioning society is to mandate
a well defined preschool program. In 1965, Head Start became a federally funded organization
designed to foster early development for families who could not access it otherwise. (Clemmitt,
2014). These families were classified as low income and benefitted from additional health services,
social and emotional skills development, academic skills, as well as education on parenting. So
much emphasis has been placed on the development of preschool age children that in 2014,

Special education programs and services are available in many school and are fast growing. In a
high school, a principal named Debbie Young has been presented with a situation with the parents

the parents of Jonathan a severely disabled tenth grader whose parents want him to attend one of

Garrett F. (1999), is a case presented to argue that Debbie Young s decision to refuse Jonathan to
attend one of the schools in the district is wrong. In the case of Cedar Rapids Independent School
District v. Garrett F. (1999), Garrett is a student who is quadriplegic and is ventilator dependent,
therefore, he requires an individual nearby to attend to certain physical needs while he is in
school. His parents provided nursing services at school until he entered fifth grade. They then
requested that the school district to provide the services. The school district declined. The parents
filed a suit against the school district. In the end, the court agreed with the parents. It was granted
that nursing services were not related services, instead excluded medical services. Meaning that the
student needed these services to attend school. This case would help Jonathan s parents to prove
that Mrs. Youngs refusal of Jonathan was not right. Students with special needs have rights and
protections under IDEA which means that there must be some services provided to for them if its
needed for them to attend school. In their IEP, that is prepared for each student to receive special
education services, a school must provide these services to help the students attend school and

The Colonization Of Brazil
In order to completely grasp the colonization of Brazil, one must first take a look at the different
global forces that shaped the settlement and growth of Brazil. Beginning with the first inhabitants
of Brazil in order to fully understand how it all began, then moving on to when the Portuguese
arrived in 1500, and finally understanding how Brazilgained its independence will successfully
explain how different global forces shaped the settlement and growth of Brazil. Factors that are
still apart of Brazil today due to European colonization is the huge population of indigenous people
living in the jungles of Brazil and the extremely intermingled population. Without the European
explorers sailing to Brazil the population might of never, or at least to the intensity of it today, be
intermixed. The indigenous people may still life on the outskirts of Brazil, instead of never being
forced inward into the jungle.
The Brazilian Indians did not have a written language; therefore, the histories did not begin until
the Europeans arrived. Several Indian tribes lived within Brazil that can be divided into four
different language groups once the Europeans arrived. The first language group was the Tupi
Guarani who was located on the Atlantic coast; the second was the Ge that was primarily located
on the open central plateau; the third and forth was the Caribs and the Arawaks who was located in
the Amazon Basin . The Tupi and the Caribs both practiced cannibalism and the Caribs were

The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members
during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially
babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth
and collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg.
entering a semi broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying
house and falling into unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary
shelter and moving out whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there
is significant addition of workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding,
child care, care of the livestock) and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the
temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc. Many of these roles make women sedentary and in
turn affect their role at community level. 3. Clearing debris from the original house is
undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a role, played most visibly by women.
Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass and metal and bites from insects,
and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of women. Prolonged exposure to
wet soggy land results in various types of skin infections and other diseases. 4. Once the relief
initiatives start, either by Government or NGOs. Supplies of emergency food materials, temporary
shelters, clothing etc are provided. Many a time, the

Universal Social Policy
Citizen views in the United States have been ever changing. Our, American, views on welfare
and what it means to have a welfare state have been changing as well. As Theda Skocpol
describes in, Social Policy in the United States, the Social Security Act of 1935 was our first
form of universal social policy. This victory came after unsuccessful attempts at creating a form
of old age pension. There are a lot of similarities between policies, during the New Deal and Post
War area, particularly roadblocks. In a time of regulation, both the United States and Britain were
creating policies in response to growing demands from those in the industrial sector. Many of these
demands could be addressed through reshaping, in some cases, creating new... Show more content

Many in the United States feel that they should not be paying for others, however the intention
is not to pay for others, but more so create a social safety net that anyone can fall onto if need be.
Efforts to fight poverty in the United States have been ongoing, the means of which the nation
should address and aid the situation is controversial for some. In the creation of the New Deal
policies and Social Security, there was an inherent racist nature behind the opposition for
comprehensive and universal policies. The idea of a form of social security went against the
beliefs some had against big government. Because of this, many approached social policy with the
mentality that because the market regulates itself, there should be no form of government
intervention for when the market goes into crisis. We know this to not be true because of
continual regulation of the market, either by government or business at the end of the day, those
who can afford to save themselves from crisis can do so and those who cannot are left to the
demise of the market. Many argue that health care is an economic argument, I am not stating that it
is not, but after looking at policy history, oppositions seem to be rooted in the social and

Business Law Case Study
Business Law Case Study In the case presented, Biff Smith, the Chief of Police of the local
department ordered a set of bicycles off of a local storeowner, Dirk Right. This was no simple
order though, in fact Biff intended on starting a bike patrol unit within the local department. Biff
went to Dirks Bicycle shop to place an order. The order was for five mountain bikes to be used
for patrol so they had to be custom made in order to sport the police decals. Biff was very
familiar with the Schwinn bicycle company so he asked Dirk to order him five top of the line
bikes at the best price . This simple statement implied that Biff not only wanted the bikes but he

Therefore Dirks specially ordered custom bikes for the police department upon the request from
Biff are considered specially made. The custom bikes were a special order because they
contained unique decals displaying POLICE . Therefore Dirk can enforce the oral contract
against Biff despite the price being an excess of $500, (under Revised article 2). Analyzing the
case with all elements in mind, we concluded that a contract was in fact created. Dirk, who is
pursuing Biff in court, will put up a case due to the oral contract that was indeed made. In this
case there is no need for a written contract because Biff verbally agreed to buy five Schwinn
custom police mountain bikes specially ordered by Dirk. For this non resellable goods
exception to apply, the seller, Dirk, must have made a substantial beginning in manufacturing
the goods. To show this is true, Dirk went out of his way to create an order for Biff that was
special for the Police department, and by doing so, Dirk cannot return/resell the bikes, and he is
at a loss of $17,500. The most important factor working in Dirks favor is the letter he received
from the local PBA. The end of the letter had a hand written signature thanking Dirk for ordering
the bikes. This is hard evidence that a deal was made because the note brings up the agreement for
the bikes in writing and is signed by the second party, Biff. Dirk has enough evidence to bring Biff

Customer service There s customer service In the United States that s good and there s customer
services that s bad. If the customer service is bad it doesn t necessarily mean it s the employees
fault; it s more than likely the customers fault. If they have someone screaming at them for hours
on end it wears them out and makes them snap. Customers only have to deal with someone being
mean for the time they are at the drive thru, where as the worker has to sit through hours of
screaming and complaining from other customers. One example of bad customers service would be

first step is to convert first time visitors into a returning customer. Secondly, a company has to
find a way to keep these customers as loyal customers. These steps are considered customer
service. There are many new aspects of customer service now that so many businesses have gone

Samurai Vs Medieval Knights Essay
The Japanese Samurai and Medieval Knights are very similar, on many levels. They both have a
Code of Conduct, similar training techniques and they both play a vital role in the feudal system.
They also have a few differences, their armour and their weapons; when everything is taken into
consideration, they are more similar than they are different.
There were many similarities and differences between the Japanese samurais and the medieval
knights training, amour and codes of conduct. The medieval knights start training at the age of 7
and roughly finish the age of 21. The Japanese samurais started training at the of 5 and roughly

One of the similarities between the Samurai and the knight in their roles in the community, Japanese
samurais had to fight in wars, obey and defend the shoguns or their country. Medieval knights had
to fight in wars and be the king s personal weapon. ( ????) . This shows that in their communities
both samurais and knights main role was to protect and defend their leader. Another similarity
between the two. The Damiyos would promise rewards to the samurais with salaries or gifts,
including portions of land; in return, the samurais promised to protect there country. () The knights
would pledge their allegiance and serve the Lord in exchange for accommodation, payment and
gifts. These gifts also included land. As you can see that the roles the Japnese samurais played
within there community were extremely similar to the roles the medieval knights played in their

Unit 6 Monopolies In Industry

American History
8 December 2014
Unit 6 Paper: Monopolies in Industry In the late 1800s after the Civil War America had become one
of the leading nations in Industry many new industries were popping up across the nation leading to
heavy competition. As competition grew companies wanted to join together and help each other get
rid of competition, but there was no way that these companies could trust each other. Due to this the
trust was formed, in a trust, stock owners of many competing companies give control of their stock
to a committee, or group, of trustees. (2) These trust could then lead to monopolies which gave
control of an entire industry to one company, one company that was able to achieve a monopoly was
the Standard Oil Company. The government should break up the Standard Oil Company monopoly
because it could lead to unfair prices to the public overall. In the American economy and society

With the Standard Oil Trust they could have priced their oil at whatever they wanted which was
unfair to the public and to any industries that needed oil. It would make oil less affordable and
would create outrage for those who need it, such as companies that would make oil based
products. Oil based products would then cost more to produce which would then raise the price
of the product along with other products that needed to be transported. Some might believe that
monopolies are a good thing because the product comes from one source and it will take longer
for that product to run out, but either way there wouldn t be as many jobs available so people
wouldn t be able to buy the product and as mentioned before the company can charge what they
want for the product. With competition companies compete for the buyer s money so they have to

Analysis Of Ezinma In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
The bond of family is something to be cherished. It is no longer there simply for reasons of
survival, families exist because it gives us humans identity in both a physical and figurative way.
Our name is what we gain from our family. We also inherit the expectations of the family. But,
over time we become our identity and that is the figurative. I could give you a list of names that
you have heard of and that identity is connected to past events or the personality of the person, but
to you now, the name is a personification of that personality or the way you felt in past events. This
is the reality of names, and the way we perceive each other. Thusly, Ezinma form Chinua Achebes,
Things Fall Apart, represents more than just her name. She represents, resilience, strength, relief,
and comradery.
The mother of Ezinma, her name was Ekwefi, had been visited by monumental tragedy. Ekwefi
could not bear a child, until Ezinma. Ekwefi bore a total of ten children with nine dying in
stages of infancy. It is quite evident that Ekwefi had become a very bitter woman, the naming of
her children were the biggest hint. Their names began receiving more sinister meanings. Ezinma
was the first to survive into her childhood. She survived through spells of illness due to her being
deemed as a ogbanje, which is a type of spirit that inhabits babies and dies to torture the mother.
However, Ezinma seemed determined to live and was able to be cleared of her ogbanje title.
Through this, her and her mother developed an interesting relationship. Ezinma and Ekwefi were
more than mother and daughter, There was something in it like the companionship of equals... (76
Achebe). This is a special relationship that is very uncommon and creates a unique personality for
Ezinma. Moreover, we see this in modern times as well, as Kwame Anthony Appiahdescribes in his
novel, Cosmopolitanism, Sometimes, familiar values are intertwined with unfamiliar customs and
arrangements. People everywhere have ideas about your responsibility to your children (47
Appiah). As Appiah states, that the sense of responsibility to your children differ among cultures
and life styles. For instance, Appiah grew up in two different societies and had two different styles

Oral Tradition In The Way To Rainy Mountain
Oral tradition is an important factor to storytelling in Native American cultures as it allows the story

what was going on in the man s mind when he decided to sacrifice one of his best horses: If you

spinal cord. Since this is a progressive disease, you will deteriorate as time goes by. In order to
move, the motor neurons in the brainreaches the spinal cord and then reaches the muscles
throughout the body. ALS affects the motor neurons and since this disease is progressive, it will
continue to affect the motor neurons by killing it until there is you lose control. Once you lose
control of your muscles,it will start to atrophy or waste away from no nourishment. Since the spinal

One treatment is to take Riluzole which is a drug that slows the progression by reducing levels of
glutamate (chemical messenger) in the brain because there is often a high amount of glutamate in
people with ALS, but this treatment may not work for everyone. After taking this drug, side effects
include dizziness, gastrointestinal conditions, liver function changes, muscle cramps/spasms,
spasticity, constipation, fatigue, excessive salivation, excessive phlegm, pain, depression, sleep
problems, and even uncontrolled outbursts of crying/laughing. Another treatment would be therapy.
Some therapies include breathing therapy to help yourself breathe better when your muscles
deteriorate, physical therapy to help your muscles and get necessary braces to prolong
independence, occupational therapist to help you modify daily activities so you can stay
independent, speech therapy to learn new adaptive ways to speak, nutritional support, and
psychological/social support. After the support of a global trend, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it
raised over $115 million to help fund researches. With this fund, scientist recently had a new
discovery. They have found a new ALS gene which is the NEK1 gene, which is one of the most
common genes in ALS. This provides the scientist with a specific gene they have to target

Essay On Birth Defect
It is hard for family to be informed that a child is born with some kind of birth defect. Parents are
under tremendous stress once they are informed about a defect and then have to decided what
they should do to help fix their child s defect. The day a parent finds out they are pregnant, most
people are very excited. No one ever wants their baby to be born with a birth defect. A special
group of parents must be chosen to have a child with a defect. There are only a few options to
choose from when a parent has to pick what they should do to care their baby. Most parents are
willing for their child to have surgery if the surgery will help, but there is always some who fear
for their baby to undergo surgery. For the parents who are against the options of their baby having
surgery they choose abortions or getting their child prescribed medicine. Parents wanting their child
to have surgery trust surgeons to operate on their child and are okay that their child may be a little
different than other children.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today the world is blessed to have many intelligent doctors and surgeons to help fix an infant s
defect. The most common birth defects are a cleft lip or palate and a heart defect. To fix these
common defects surgery is usually an option. To let a child undergo surgery is a very scary
thing to do. When any parent makes the choice of surgery to help fix their child s defect they
have to also think about the risks the child can have during surgery. To be put to sleep is always
dangerous there is always a chance the patient may not wake up, although the chance is slim.
Anyone who makes the choice of surgery has to be strong and believe in the doctors and
surgeons to operate on their child. Depending on how bad a child s birth defect is determines the
level of help a child needs to mend the defect.. The two common birth defects to have surgery on is,

The Negative Effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement
In January 1994, the United States, Mexico, and Canada implemented the North American Free
Trade Agreement (NAFTA), forming the largest free trade zone in the world. The goal of NAFTA
is to create better trading conditions through tariff reduction, removal of investment barriers, and
improvement of intellectual property protection. NAFTA continues to gradually reduce tariffs on
set dates and aims to eliminate all tariffs by the year 2004. Before NAFTA was established,
investing in Mexico was a difficult process. Investors needed the Mexican Government s approval
and were also required to meet specific investment guidelines. These requirements necessitated ...

This extensive growth is accredited primarily to the reduction of tariffs. As tariffs were lowered,
U.S. goods became cheaper and more competitive in Mexican and Canadian markets, and at this
lower price level the quantity demanded of U.S. goods increased. Therefore it becomes less
expensive for U.S. firms to supply goods to Canada and Mexico as the supply curve shifts
upward. In order to meet the new demand, the firms must hire new workers and increase
investment. Between 1994 and 1997, 90 to 160 thousand jobs were created in the U.S. due to the
increase of trade with Mexico, and 2.4 million jobs were dependent upon trade with Mexico and
Canada (Harbrecht 12).
The increase in employment and investment then leads to increased national income. The work
of NAFTA has also served to benefit Mexico s economy; in accordance with the United States
economy, Mexico s exports have increased, more than doubling since 1993. The elimination of
investment barriers has caused a dramatic rise in foreign investment from four billion in 1993 to
ten billion dollars in 1998. NAFTA has enabled Volkswagen, IBM, and the textile industry to seek
labor and materials in Mexico. In 1994, a Canada based entrepreneur invested four million dollars
in a metal stamping plant. The plant is now a major material suppler for Volkswagen although it
was originally intended to employ only 130 people. The plant currently employs 1,300 workers
and generates 57 million dollars in

The World Wide Web and Plagiarism Essay
The World Wide Web and Plagiarism
In the recent past when computers were available to the public, users could easily type a document
without having to retype a whole page to correct or add a part to a document. Shortly after that
came the Internet where countless pages of documents and information became accessible to nearly
everybody. The problem with plagiarism was much smaller and easier to detect before the Internet.
Preceding the Internet, plagiarized materials used to originate from fraternity houses efforts to

Public Schools vs. Private Schools Essay
Public Schools vs. Private Schools
A good education is an essential part of a child s development. Today, parents have a choice in
their child s education and can evaluate both public and private schools. Although both public
and private schools provide education and opportunities for students, parents should evaluate the
differences and choose the option that best suits their child and families needs. In this paper, I
will compare and contrast five major areas that relate to public and private schools including
class size, cost, curriculum, services, and teachers. One of the first major differences between
public and private schools is class size. Public schools follow state and federal guidelines in regard
to class size. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another difference among public and private schools is the curriculum. Public schools must follow
the curriculum that is outlined by the state. The state outlines a curriculum for each subject at each
grade level (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The state also mandates the assessments for each grade level
(Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The curriculums are similar among different states in the hope that if a
students moves mid year, they will remain on track for their new school. Private schools have the
ability to set their own curriculum. Private schools might advertise specialized curriculums in order
to entice students (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). For example, private schools that are religiously
affiliated will have religious based classes in addition to their basic curriculum. This is something
that parents need to consider too. Also, private schools determine their own assessments and do not
have to participate in standardized testing. Special education services are another difference between
private and public schools. Public schools follow state and federal guidelines and therefore must
follow the special education laws (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). All students can attend public school

Women Are Valued Differently From Men in Irish Society I myself have never been able to find

In hard cash terms, men earn on average, ВЈ1.83 more per hour than women do.
Women s work is still seen as that of love labour , that of working in the home raising a family
and taking care of the housework without pay. Men on the other hand are seen as the
breadwinners, their work is paid labour. Their job is to go out into paid employment and provide
for their family.
There are two knock on effects of women staying a home minding the family. Firstly they are not
financially independent. They do not earn any money and are dependent on income received from
their partners. Because nobody gets paid for rearing a family it s status as an occupation is at the
bottom of the ladder and because women are dependant financially for money on their husband it
means they in the past have had less input into the decisions affecting the family resulting in no
input into the decisions affecting society. A womans place was in the home. A second effect of
women s position in the family is that they are often isolated from each other and from society in
general. Unlike a worker they have little opportunity of meeting, sharing experiences, they on their
own have little power to change the conditions they find themselves in.
The family is a trap for women today as much as for women at the beginning of the industrial
revolution. As mentioned above, women are paid on average 2/3 of the wage that men are paid, so
within any partnership it obviously makes more

Descriptive Essay On Fashion Shows
My cousin, Eshna was taking me to a fashion show being held in Kolkata. I ve never been to one
before. In fact, I had no idea of what exactly it was that they showed in fashion shows. In dog
shows, they showed dogs; in baby shows they showed babies. I knew what dogs were, and what
babies were, so that was all right. But I hadn t a clue what fashion was, and was looking forward to
finding out.
All I knew about fashion shows was that they involved people called models. The models
walked up and down something called a catwalk. No one seemed to know why a catwalk should
be called a catwalk. Why not a dogwalk, for instance? Well, the answer to that seemed simple. If
they called the catwalk a dogwalk then people might think that what they d come to see was a
dog show, instead of a fashion show and be on the lookout for a French poodle a la Rohit Bal. On
the other hand, no one s ever heard of a cat show, so if you call the catwalk in a fashion show a
catwalk you d be alright, and no one would expect to see Garfield strutting his stuff courtesy Ritu
Beri. Just to further confuse matters, however, the catwalk is also known as a ramp. ... Show more

which in turn came after Page 1. These things aren t too difficult to work out, if you take a deep

catwalks also known as ramps and models; all this still didn t tell me what fashion was. And I was

Big Two Hearted River, Part I, By Ernest Hemingway Success comes only to those who stand firm throughout the trials and tribulations the world has to offer, as many people come to realize through the gaining of their personal life experience. In Big Two Hearted River, Part I , Ernest Hemingway utilizes figurative language such as symbolism, imagery, and metaphors in order to impart and emphasize the importance of one s determination to endure the challenges of existence in relation to their overall prosperity. It is unclear whether or not they will stay that way permanently, but Nick has hope that they will overcome their unfortunate situation; when he wonders how long they will be stained, Nick is insinuating that there will eventually come a day, be it in weeks or years, that the grasshoppers will return to their natural state. Hemingway uses this metaphor to parallel our perception of Nick himself. The trauma Nick has endured throughout his life has impacted him as well as his identity significantly, but there is hope and the promise of a better future if he is willing to withstand the burden in the meantime. This sentiment is echoed by Nick when he lets go of the grasshopper, instructing it to fly away somewhere (212). The message conveyed here is that life goes on; though the grasshoppers are sullied by their experiences, as they might be for a while, there is a way for them to be free and thus, there must be a way for Nick to be free as well. The rewards that follow in the wake of a negative or traumatic event are earned by the mere fact that an individual was not willing to be swayed from their path or to give up simply on the basis that it was difficult. Nick himself sums it up rather nicely when he states that he s ...got a right to eat this kind of stuff, if [he s] willing to carry it (215) referring to, of course, his backpack full of food and supplies that he d been shouldering for ... • 8. Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem, Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and then asks how that influences the creative human mind. Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Class barriers prohibit the communication across classes. Time makes the transition between these defined class structures much more easy for a person, no matter their current class. Charles Dickens compares the identity of an escaped convict and a boy in his Victorian era novel Great Expectations, while E.L. Doctorow compares the identity of an upper class family and a Jewish immigrant family in his 20th century novel Ragtime. The increase in communication and transition across social and economic classes, in both novels, show the possibility for the destruction of highly restrictive class barriers. During Pip s conversation with the escaped convict, the convict claims, I ve been a sheep farmer, stock breeder, other trades (Dickens 249). The difference between an escaped convict, the lowliest of classes, to a tradesman, middle class, proves the ability to transition between social classes. However, the size of the class structure transition poses an extreme challenge. The escaped convict conquered the challenge, but did not immediately move up the class structure. This took a long period of time, approximately fifteen years after Pip s first encounter with the convict, due to the repercussions an escaped convict faces along with the lack of a paying job while in jail. Without the extended period of time, the convict would not have a chance to move to a new class structure. The same concept applies to an immigrant. Mother and Tateh marry fulfilling his journey up class structures: But his great success was still to come. The family found tenants for the house in New Rochelle and moved out to California. They lived in a large white stucco house with arched windows and an orange tile roof (Doctorow 319). Taoism does have a religious aspect to it. However I concentrate on the philosophical aspect which is compatible with other religions. Many Christians freely explore the concepts of Taoism and add whatever they think is useful to their own beliefs. The idea is to explore and learn the correct way or the better way to live life and to conduct our lives by understanding some of the principles that rule our lives. • 12. The Tyranny Of White Majority Essay The United States, even though considered the land of freedom, has been struggling with lingering racism and discrimination throughout the 19th and 20th century. Democratic reform throughout the century were implanted to eliminate the tyranny of the white majority Yet many scholars like Tocqueville, Fredrick Harris and WEB DuBois have challenged these results. The reality is that the tyranny of white majority has continued throughout the 18th to the 21st century resulting in a society that has suppressed and constantly failed to integrate African Americaninto the white society by neglecting the race, using natural prejudice, race neutral policies, and laws that benefited whites more than African Americans. Even before the 13th amendment and emancipation of slaves, small reforms in the northern states were being implemented to create a true free society. One would argue that these reforms were the first steps of a liberal reform that would lead to the eventual equality amongst the two races but what is forgotten is that even though reforms were passed the white majority had a natural prejudice. Tocqueville explains what makes the natural prejudice was the disgrace the African American ethnicity received by being forced as slaves. This slavery was based on race rather than being like ancient slavery which had nothing to do the face of a person (PG 400). The African Americans who were considered free during the that were still disgraced because as Tocqueville said free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you become distracted then you could forget to administer the medication or complete the task but as you have already recorded it then you and other nurses will assume the patient has had that task completed. This can become dangerous as it then means that the patient could potentially miss having the required medication administered. This is particularly important in hospitalised patients who are receiving several different medications a day and require them to be administered at specific times, so they each have time to be absorbed into the blood stream and not interfere with each other. When recording medication you must ensure that you record the type of medication, time administered, date administered, amount administered and who administered the medication. • 15. The Characters Of Professor Van Helsing And Count Dracula Stoker produced two eccentric characters of opposite conflicts that were rather identical in their means of doing. Professor Van Helsing and Count Dracula were the main identities in Stoker s Dracula because they both represented areas of strict morals such as good and evil, respectively. Although the two men present rather general characteristics of their due morals, Stoker also gave subtle commonalities to them. Although Draculahappens to be the evil of the story, it can also be presumed that he may be the good while Van Helsing is the bad. Even though Stoker indicates that the characters remain in their set of morals, both of them presume to acquire each other s attributes, furthermore. Van Helsing and Dracularepresent the two sides of humanity in a rather vital way; Stoker used both men as individuals but with the overall sense of completion. Whereas one represents what is thought to be holy while the other evil, it is rather ambiguous that this is so. Stoker provides context within his characters however, which provides them with similarities usually disguised as faults. The Professor and the Count are quite indistinguishable because of how Stoker portrays them as two sides to one coin thus allowing each to have their own distinction whilst obtaining similar convictions. Their characters are rather interchangeable since they both exhibit: determination towards their overall goal, strength in times of other s weakness, and influential capabilities over others. ... • 18. How Different Temperatures Effect The Cell Membrane Of A... How different temperatures effect the cell membrane of a beetroot Hypothesis: The more betalain is leaked when the membrane is in higher temperatures Abstract: The experiment which was conducted was to identify the effects of temperature of the beetroot discs. Majority of the pigment from the beetroot is found within the vacuole which is called anthocyanin and each of the vacuole is surrounded by a tonoplast membrane. Externally the cytoplasm is surrounded by the plasma membrane hence the foundation of the experiment depends on the temperature which will rapture the membrane and lead to a leakage of the pigment. The experiment consists of several different temperatures and same sized beetroot discs, the beetroot discs will be placed in 3 sets of discs in a tube test tube which will be placed in the distilled water in same test tube. Using a colorimeter once the beetroot have been exposed to the temperatures the colour of the distilled water will change therefore leaving a coloured water to be measured by a colorimeter, this is because the colorimeter measures the light being passed through the solution. Introduction: The experiment is conducted to find out how the membrane is affected by different temperatures. Betalain pigment increases with high temperatures because most mammalian proteins denature and tertiary structure unravels because the strong covalent bonds between the R groups of amino acids in the polypeptide chains are destroyed at temperatures over 45В°C. ... According to the Center for Disease Control, 3,932,181 of them were born in the United States in 2013, of which 40.6% were born to unmarried women. It is true that most parents want what is best for their children; however, the methodology and resources for childrearing vary from home to home. Today s society is built on self discipline, self reliance, and skill; therefore, the development of little ones must take center stage. However, this development is unique just as the children and the parents who are responsible for their upbringing are unique. While preschool programs can be a beneficial tool, it should not be mandatory because there is no significant evidence of success for federally funded programs; early childhooddevelopment occurs diversley among children; and parents alone are best qualified and responsible to nurture their preschoolers as they see fit. Some believe that the best way to tackle the challenge of a high functioning society is to mandate a well defined preschool program. In 1965, Head Start became a federally funded organization designed to foster early development for families who could not access it otherwise. (Clemmitt, 2014). These families were classified as low income and benefitted from additional health services, social and emotional skills development, academic skills, as well as education on parenting. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into unseen breaches etc. 2. Clearing debris from the original house is undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a role, played most visibly by women. Analyzing the case with all elements in mind, we concluded that a contract was in fact created. Dirk, who is pursuing Biff in court, will put up a case due to the oral contract that was indeed made. • 31. English Halloween Essay A perfect halloween It was a perfect Halloween night. There was a full harvest moon, the wind was howling, the neighborhood was quiet; even though kids were trick or treating. My friends and I were waiting to go outside. Andrew, a blue eyed nerd, was already excited to go outside. Ashley, Alex and I were calm, but anxious. We all agreed to go out when it got darker. We were all dressed up as zombies, the ones that ate guts and such. Lets go! Can we please start and get some candy now!! Yells Andrew. We all gear up for the night. In another room we see nothing but piles of broken cement from the slowly cracking ceilings, decaying walls, and broken glass from windows. A stray black cat hisses and scurries past our feet into the dark. As we start touring the house, we start hearing moans and groans, then voices from upstairs. All of a sudden our candles blow out and we all scream. We all run in different directions, trying to find a way out. It felt like a maze, we were the dumb rats trying to find that one piece of cheese. One by one, I hear screams of my friends. Unit 6 Monopolies In Industry Austin Moore Mrs. Hargraves American History 8 December 2014 Unit 6 Paper: Monopolies in Industry In the late 1800s after the Civil War America had become one of the leading nations in Industry many new industries were popping up across the nation leading to heavy competition. As competition grew companies wanted to join together and help each other get rid of competition, but there was no way that these companies could trust each other. Due to this the trust was formed, in a trust, stock owners of many competing companies give control of their stock to a committee, or group, of trustees. (2) These trust could then lead to monopolies which gave control of an entire industry to one company, one company that was able to achieve a monopoly was the Standard Oil Company. Some might believe that monopolies are a good thing because the product comes from one source and it will take longer for that product to run out, but either way there wouldn t be as many jobs available so people wouldn t be able to buy the product and as mentioned before the company can charge what they want for the product. • 34. Analysis Of Ezinma In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe The bond of family is something to be cherished. It is no longer there simply for reasons of survival, families exist because it gives us humans identity in both a physical and figurative way. Our name is what we gain from our family. We also inherit the expectations of the family. But, over time we become our identity and that is the figurative. I could give you a list of names that you have heard of and that identity is connected to past events or the personality of the person, but to you now, the name is a personification of that personality or the way you felt in past events. This is the reality of names, and the way we perceive each other. Thusly, Ezinma form Chinua Achebes, Things Fall Apart, represents more than just her name. She represents, resilience, strength, relief, and comradery. The mother of Ezinma, her name was Ekwefi, had been visited by monumental tragedy. Ekwefi could not bear a child, until Ezinma. Ekwefi bore a total of ten children with nine dying in stages of infancy. It is quite evident that Ekwefi had become a very bitter woman, the naming of her children were the biggest hint. Their names began receiving more sinister meanings. Ezinma was the first to survive into her childhood. She survived through spells of illness due to her being deemed as a ogbanje, which is a type of spirit that inhabits babies and dies to torture the mother. However, Ezinma seemed determined to live and was able to be cleared of her ogbanje title. Through this, her and her mother developed an interesting relationship. Ezinma and Ekwefi were more than mother and daughter, There was something in it like the companionship of equals... (76 Achebe). This is a special relationship that is very uncommon and creates a unique personality for Ezinma. Moreover, we see this in modern times as well, as Kwame Anthony Appiahdescribes in his novel, Cosmopolitanism, Sometimes, familiar values are intertwined with unfamiliar customs and arrangements. People everywhere have ideas about your responsibility to your children (47 Appiah). As Appiah states, that the sense of responsibility to your children differ among cultures and life styles. The Negative Effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement In January 1994, the United States, Mexico, and Canada implemented the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), forming the largest free trade zone in the world. This extensive growth is accredited primarily to the reduction of tariffs. As tariffs were lowered, U.S. goods became cheaper and more competitive in Mexican and Canadian markets, and at this lower price level the quantity demanded of U.S. goods increased. Therefore it becomes less expensive for U.S. firms to supply goods to Canada and Mexico as the supply curve shifts upward. In order to meet the new demand, the firms must hire new workers and increase investment. Between 1994 and 1997, 90 to 160 thousand jobs were created in the U.S. due to the increase of trade with Mexico, and 2.4 million jobs were dependent upon trade with Mexico and Canada (Harbrecht 12). The increase in employment and investment then leads to increased national income. On the other hand, no one s ever heard of a cat show, so if you call the catwalk in a fashion show a catwalk you d be alright, and no one would expect to see Garfield strutting his stuff courtesy Ritu Beri. Just to further confuse matters, however, the catwalk is also known as a ramp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What precisely was the damn thing? It was the page that came after Page 2, which in turn came after Page 1. These things aren t too difficult to work out, if you take a deep breath and don t panic. But knowing that Page 3 came after Page 2 was like knowing about catwalks also known as ramps and models; all this still didn t tell me what fashion was. And I was all agog to find ...
