Essay Selling Mortgage-Backed Securities
Introduction
According to news article on September 2nd contributed by Rexrode (2011) from AP, The
government on Friday sued 17 financial firms, including the largest U.S. banks, for selling Fannie
Mae and Freddie Mac (Appendix) billions of dollars worth of mortgage backed securities that
turned toxic when the housing market collapsed . Beyond the apparent legal issues, this article
intrigued me to examine whether or not there are ethical issues involved regarding banks selling
mortgage backed securities. A mortgage backed security is defined by Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC 2010) as debt obligations that represent claims to the cash flows from pools of
mortgage loans, most commonly on residential property. To put it simple,... Show more content on

After reaching its peak in 2006, the US housing market finally collapsed, since then average
house price have drop more than 30% as of 2010. (Parsons, 2011) What caused the housing price
collapsed, that ultimately led to the downward of US Economy, was that many mortgages were
paid by adjustable rate (Appendix), which increases in accordance with house price. Since the
house price were picked up in an ascending speed from 2000 to 2006, so was the interest rate
homeowners had to pay every month. Eventually, the interest went extremely high in 2006 and
homeowners could not afford to pay their monthly mortgages anymore, and lost their home to the
banks. That caused the chain reactions resulting in the dramatic price drop of mortgage backed
securities because of diminishing house price. Dramatic security price drop could not have
caused the house price dropped; on the contrary, had only the dramatic house price drop led to the
securities price drop that ultimately cost investors billions of dollars. As a matter of fact, major
banks and financial firms were only issuers of those securities; they have limited involvement and
no direct control over price of securities. Thus, banks should not hold responsible for the house
market collapse because it was simply market reactions.
Investors vs. Major Banks
Banks should not be blamed for causing investors hefty losses by selling securities; instead,

Thought Bubble Content Analysis
Introduction
I chose to do my multi genre project on the Twenties. The Twenties have also interested me and
that unit was by far my favorite this semester, so it only seemed right to go deeper into and
expand my learning on it even more. To portray the different changes and new inventions that
came about during this era, I did a drawing. In my drawing, there is a young flapper girl and a
large thought bubble. Inside this bubble, it shows her reflecting on what has happened during the
past ten years.
Thought Bubble Content Explanation
Many important milestones such as Prohibition (the 18th amendment), Women s Suffrage (the 19th
amendment), and the Stock Market Crash in 1929. I chose to portray Prohibition by having a beer
bottle tipped over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start with, the Flapper girl (in the lower left corner) was a major iconic figure during this
period. Flappers were women who went against the normality and did not so lady like things.
Many of them did this as self expression and to get there point across. Others did this to join the
movement and be rebellious. Across the top of the paper, there is a border that looks like an old
film reel that is unraveled and the tape is out. This movie reel tape is supposed to represent the
increase and popularity found in movies and acting. It was a form of entertainment, as well as a
hobby for some. Also to go along with the theme of acting and movies, in the title, the 20 s is red
like a stage curtain and has yellow circles which are meant to look like dressing room lights.
Another hint about the title, is that to show the main focus and topic of the drawing. It is also in
bold/ fun colors because that s exactly what the Roaring 20 s were; bold and

The Case Of Pope V. Illinois
On July 21, 1983 local police detectives in Rockford, Illinois entered two different local book stores
and purchased six magazines. Soon after exiting the store, police separately arrested clerks Richard
Pope and Charles Morrison. Both men were charged and convicted for selling obscene materials, in
accordance with an Illinois statute. On appeal, both petitioners argued that the Illinois statute was
unconstitutional to both the first and Fourteenth Amendments. They reasoned that the state was
required to make the value determination by an objective standard rather than community standard
in conformance with the Miller decision, and the juries in this case had been instructed to judge
whether the material had value as viewed by ordinary adults in the state of Illinois. The Appellate
Court rejected the both petitioners arguments and the Illinois Supreme courtdenied requests for
further review, but the United States Supreme Court granted certiorari and merged both cases for
reexamination.
The case, Pope v. Illinois, was argued on February 24, 1987. Glenn A. Stanko represented the
petitioners whose argument was: The Illinois Obscenity Statute violated the First and Fourteenth
Amendments by allowing the value element to be determined by community standards and
instructing the jury to do so. Therefore, the convictions against petitioners must be reversed because
the statute is invalid. Glenn Stanko made it clear that the petitioners did not argue whether the
materials were

Schumpeter believe that management theory it Is becoming a collection of dead ideas. In other
words, he believe that most of what we learn today about management is outdated and do not
accurately describe how businesses operating in today s society. He opens his article by comparing
management theory to the reformation. At first the comparison seem unrelated but as I read along I
realized that his analogy was not so far fetched. The gist is that management theory is like the
Catholic church because in the 16th century the Catholic Church way of doing had numerous
theological errors. So Martin Luther, a Monk, came up with 95 these to fix the problem; his thesis
gave birth to the modern world. Schumpeter believe that Like the Catholic church, management
theory needs to be reform. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first theory is the idea that businesses are more competitive than ever. He states that popular
management theory books emphasize that we live in a world where businesses are always
competing with other businesses and that even a large corporation are constantly being disrupted.
He argues that what we are seeing in today s economy is consolidation. He states that since 2008
more than 30,000 deals a year worth 3% of the GDP is a result of consolidation. Schumpeter
believe that the reason why consolidation is so popular is because companies are enjoying record
profits. I do agree with Schumpeter that more company consolidating instead of competing. I
constantly hear of large companies taking over other companies. For example, Atena, one of
America s largest insurance company as partnered up with CVS

Describe How The Sociological Perspectives Explain Social...
Describe how the sociological perspectives explain social problems related to the family. The
family affords its members with a social uniqueness. Offspring are born into their parents social
class, culture and race, religious conviction, and so forth. Some kids have benefits throughout life
because of the social uniqueness they obtain from their parents, while others face many hindrances
because the social class or race/ethnicity into which they are born is at the bottom of the social
ladder. The conflict perspective accentuates that many of the problems we see in today s families
stem from financial inequality and from patriarchy. The problems that many families experience

Many children will adjust to their parents divorce, but some will continue to have significant
problems into adulthood. Parents sensitivity to their child s needs is one of the most important
factors in facilitating adjustment. Other factors such as the child s age, gender and temperament
will also influence how well the child adjusts. Preschoolers tend to be emotionally needy, have
fears related to abandonment, and may display acting out behaviors following their parents
divorce or separation. Preschooler are likely to become very distressed during visit exchanges.
Boys and girls tend to react differently to their parents divorce. As a rule, girls tend to become
anxious and withdrawn, while boys tend to become more aggressive and disobedient. Girls from
divorced families may become sexually active earlier than girls from intact families. Interestingly,
boys often adjust better when their mothers remarry, while girls have more difficulty. Children of
divorced families tend to have long term adjustment difficulties when there is ongoing conflict
between their parents. Boys are likely to display marked behavior problems when this exists.
Children s adjustment is also determined by the amount of conflict the parents had before the
divorce. Researchers have found that children in divorced families, where there is little conflict
following the divorce, do not differ in adjustment than children from low conflict intact

What Is The Myth Of Wild Africa Summary
Book Review: The Myth of Wild Africa: Conservation Without Illusions by Jonathan Adams and
Thomas McShane. Book published: Berkely: University of California Press. 1996. 282
pp.Reviewed by: Jason Wright (G14W1428)
The Myth of Wild Africa introduces one to the false, preconceived notion of Africaand Africa s
people that were around since the early 1900s. The book compares older, colonial methods of
conservation that were coercive and based on the myth , and newer Afrocentric conservation efforts
that are more objective and inclusive to the African people. The book emphasises that the inclusion
of African people is what will make African conservation successful. In the past, Africa as
considered an untouched paradise, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book includes a clear outline of the history of conservation in Africa, coupled with stories of
Africans involved in conservation management. The authors explain the issues around African
conservation as well as including their own input and potential solutions. One of the main points
presented is that the myth that Africans and wildlife being incompatible must be broken. It is
evident that Africans are just as passionate about their wildlife like the rest of the world and the
authors try to bring this across to the rest of the world. However, conservationists must make sure
that rural people are acknowledged and that they engage in conservation efforts to make sure
projects are successful. Due to the age of the book, several issues are more prominent than others,
such as habitat loss and overpopulation, and that the solutions to these issues will have changed
with the development of technology. Public awareness and the education of issues are now more
achievable and effective due to the advancement in communication in the form of social media and
the fact many Africans own a mobile phones. The involvement of local communities will always be
important in conservation and most of the points brought across in the book about the past will
remain relevant. An update or a companion book including discussions of new issues threats

Hinduism is a religion that originated in India and is still practiced by most of the Natives as well
as the people who have migrated from
India to other parts of the world. Statistically there are over seven hundred million Hindus, mainly
in Bharat, India and Nepal. Eighty five percent of the population in India is Hindu. The word Hindu
comes from an ancient Sanskrit term meaning dwellers by the Indus River, referring to the location
of India s earliest know civilization, the Pakistan. There is not much organization and hierarchy is

religion. A man named Chaitanya came into power and claimed to have a god reincarnated inside
of him. In the
19th century, movements to reconcile traditional Hinduism with the social reforms and political
ideas of the day took place. Many people where sent out to Europe and Asia preaching and
spreading the religion. Throughout all these periods of time, the religion mutated and changed to fit
with the times and as it did it just kept gathering more and more followers.
Hinduism Today Today there are numerous self proclaimed teachers who have migrated to Europe
and the United States, where they have inspired large followings. In India Hinduism thrives despite
all the reforms and shortcuts made in the practicing due to the gradual modernization and
urbanization of
Hindu life. Hinduism continues to serve vital function by giving passionate meaning to the Hindus

Caste System The ideal way of life is referred to as the duties of one s class and station . In the
phrase the word class is changed to CASTE. The ancient texts tell of four great classes, or castes:
the Brahmins, or priests; the
Ksatriyas, or warriors and rulers; the Vaisayas, or merchants and farmers; and the Sudras, or
peasants and laborers. A fifth class, Panchamas, or untouchables, are people whose jobs make them

The Physics Of Satellites Orbiting Earth
Satellites orbiting earth will experience external perturbations that can affect the orbit. The primary
force acting on the satellite depends on the altitude of the orbit. The most significant effect is
caused by atmospheric drag which affects satellites in low earth orbit. Outside of low earth orbit,
satellites still experience external forces that could change the orbithowever unlike atmospheric
drag, the orbit altitude will not necessarily decrease. In addition to atmospheric drag, satellites are
subject to thermal drag and gravity perturbations.
Atmospheric Drag: (Author: Emma)
Atmospheric drag effects all spacecraft orbiting earth below 2,000 km, producing both short
periodic and slow perturbations. It is the is the largest source of error in modeling the force on
many satellites because it is difficult to predict [2]. Atmospheric drag is caused by the collisions
of gas molecules with the spacecraft. Over time, the collisions start to decay the orbit.
Demonstrating a positive feedback effect, where drag decreases the orbital altitude where the
density is greater which produces more drag which then decays quicker. Factors that influence drag
are the atmospheric drag surrounding the spacecraft, as well as the spacecrafts drag coefficient,
area, mass and velocity [1].
The atmospheric density is not constant and changes with solar activity. The solar magnetic activity
cycle is the periodic change in the sun s activity that lasts around 11 years. During solar maximum,

The Portland s Water System Essay
I have learned about the Portland s water system in the first of a few weeks. I have learned the
Portland s water resources, water quality management, history of water system, water
transportation system, and water issues in Portland area. Now, I compare Portland s water
system to another city in the United States. I pick up Seattle s water system because I lived in
Seattle for two years before I move to Portland, and I m interested in the Seattle s water system. In
this journal, I write about the following sections: History of Seattle s water system, water
resources, water quality management, water transportation, water issues in Seattle, and conclusion
(similarities and differences between Seattle s water system and Portland s water system). History:
In the 19th century, Seattle s water came from springs, wells, and private water companies.
However, the population of Seattle increased in the late 19th century, and the demand for water
supply also increased. In June 6, 1889, there was a large fire what is called Great Seattle Fire in
downtown Seattle. After this event, government decided to establish municipal water system. After
this plan was approved, the government constructed the Cedar River water system. On January
10th, 1901, water from the Cedar River flowed into Seattle s water system for the first time. A
pipeline channeled water to the Lincoln reservoirs and the Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. When
the water system constructed, the water system capacity was 23.5

Essay about The Middle Colonies
After the first few struggling settlements in the New World progressed, more and more colonies
sprung from the untested North American soil. Eventually, there were three main categories to the
European colonies. They were each unique, although one certain class stood in stark contrast to the
other two. This group, the Middle colonies, was a halfway point between the New England and
Southern colonies and not just geographically. The Middle colonies extracted parts of its neighbors,
like farming habits and spiritual sects, but the middle group managed to retain its own flavor.
Perhaps one of the most important circumstances of the New World was the varying climate. The
North American continent was not the same as its southern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A significant factor of any civilization, be it vast as the Roman Empire or pitifully miniscule, is
spirituality. Religion was (and even remains to be) a big part of North America. New England was
strictly Puritan. English Puritans sought out haven in the New World, far away from persecution in
the mother country. The Southern colonies consisted mostly of Anglicans, though some may
speculate that the Southerners were more concerned with worshipping wealth. The Middle colonies
were quite different in that there was no single dominant religion. Pennsylvania, which contained
the largest city in all the thirteen colonies, was well known for its many Quaker residents.
However, there was also a fair share of Jews, Catholics, and other faiths, as well as the standard
Puritans and Anglicans. Overall, the most defining factor of the Middle colonies was its ethnic
diversity. The backgrounds of its inhabitants included (but was not limited to) German, Dutch,
Scotch Irish, English, French, Welsh, Swedish, Polish, and Finnish. New England could not
compete, for its population was almost entirely English, save for the scattered Dutch remnants of
New Amsterdam and the Native Americans, of course. The South was biracial, which meant that
one was black, white, or an exceedingly rare mixture of the two. The Middle colonies had slaves,
though its percentage of slaves in the population was between those of

Bad Girl Film Analysis
The American Cinema of the 1950s can be noted for its various portrayals of masculinity and
dominating consumer culture geared toward male gender. Arguably hidden behind punks and
gangsters was a class of defiant girls who subverted the gender ideals of the time and are evidenced
through a series of Bad Girl films. The bad girl filmcycle is one of the latter trends of the 50s Social
Problem film and an examination of this cycle will provide theoretical speculation regarding its
influence on the rise of the Second Wave Feminist Movement.
In order to examine the potential influence of these films and the topicality of bad girl
representation during the 1950s scare of juvenile delinquency, the following lines of inquiry will be
explored:
1.An examination of the evolution of female representation in various film genres of the 1950s
highlighting the commonly subservient role of female characters and the gender roles perpetuated
through texts of this decade.
2.Next, I will reiterate the Social Problem film and the scare of juvenile delinquency during the
1950s. I will introduce the bad girl film genre in more detail, expanding the tropes/motifs of this
cycle, and demonstrates how this genre can be subcategorized as a social problem film.
3.In order to understand the contention surrounding the bad girl films and its context in 1950s
society, I will discuss the American Dream ideology of the time, primarily through its portrayal on
television. We can note the struggle

Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay
Conversion of a lawn mower to generator.
INTRODUCTION:
The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That
particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable
attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off
break and to allow spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and
deactivate the motor shut off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be
observed and also the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature.
In both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and levers.
A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then
pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and
shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut
off mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor).
PROCEDURE:
The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts
holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft
coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the
coupling off is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still

SMC and PI Disturbance Compensation Techniques By using Nonlinear Speed Control for PMSM

ABSTRACT: In order to optimize the speed control performance of the permanent magnet
synchronous motor (PMSM) system with different disturbances and uncertainties,. In further
improve the disturbance rejection performance of SMC method, extended sliding mode
disturbance observer (ESMDO) is proposed, and the estimated system disturbance is considered
as the feed forward compensation part to compensate sliding mode speed controller. Thus, a

law was presented to design the speed and current integrated controller. To suppress chattering
problem, system variable was used in this reaching law.1 2 However, in the aforementioned
reaching laws, the discontinuous gain rapidly decreases because of variation of the functions of
the sliding surface, thus reducing the robustness of the controller near the sliding surface and also
increasing the reaching time. 3 4In order to solve the aforementioned problems, a novel reaching
law, which is based on the choice of an exponential term that adapts to the variations of the sliding
mode surface and system states, is proposed in this paper. This reaching law is able to deal with
the chattering/reaching time dilemma. Based on this reaching law, a sliding mode speed controller
of PMSM is developed.

The Ieee 802 Standard
Introduction
Under the IEEE 802 standard, each one system interface gadget (counting system cards in
machines, versatile Wi Fi empowered gadgets, and in addition individual ports in scaffolds or
switches) ought to have an all around extraordinary 48 bit MAC address. Pieces of locations ought
to be bought by an association to be allotted to the gadgets that association produces. On the other
hand, in a few cases a gadget might not have an internationally extraordinary MAC address. A few
purposes behind this include:
пѓ Counterfeiters don t pay for MAC addresses.
пѓ Low expense system card makers may be allocating their cards arbitrarily created MAC
addresses.
пѓ Users or framework chairmen might briefly dole out their gadgets subjective MAC addresses
through programming.
Consequently, two or more gadgets may have the same MAC address. This turns into an issue if
the gadgets with the same MAC location are on the same telecast space (e.g. layer 2 system). On
the off chance that the gadgets are not on the same show space, then no issues emerge, since MAC
locations are not sent through switches in layer 3 of the OSI model.
This task assesses the obliged number of aggregate MAC addresses seen (i.e. example size)

What Is The Impact Of Beethoven Symphony 3
Ludwig Van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist born in 1770. He is one of the most
well known composers in western music history, and is regarded as a crucial figure in the
transition between the Classical and Romantic eras of music. In 1792, Beethoven migrated to
Vienna, a thriving cultural hub of Europe, and lived there for the rest of his life. During this time,
which is characterised as the late Classical Period, society underwent many socio political changes,
such as the French Revolution. In this essay I will examine how the political climate of Europe

revolutionary himself, Beethoven held Bonaparte in high regard, and dedicated Symphony No.
3 to him, with the initial title Sinfonia Bonaparte . However, later in 1804, Bonaparte declared
himself Emperor of France, and upon hearing this, Beethoven flew into a rage, [...] took hold of
the title page at the top, ripped it all the way through, and flung it on the floor (Sipe, 31 ). Only
then did he rename the work Sinfonia Eroica , or Heroic Symphony . Thus, it is apparent through
the initial title of Sinfonia Bonaparte , that the composition of this piece was primarily influenced
by Beethoven s political convictions of the revolution, and his great admiration for the man who
appeared to be its leader. We can also see that the sudden destruction of the cover page of the
symphony and the abrupt title change was due to the sudden betrayal by Bonaparte, and this shows
us the intensity of Beethoven s feelings of rage as his homage was turned into disillusionment when
Bonaparte crowned himself Emperor and altered politics in France

The Political Career of Daniel Webster Essay
The Political Career of Daniel Webster
Daniel Webster contributed a large potion of the Civil War. To begin, he was born in Salisbury,
New Hampshire on January 18, 1782. His parents were farmers so many people didn t know what
to expect of him. Even though his parents were farmers, he still graduated from Dartmouth College
in 1801. After he learned to be a lawyer, Daniel Webster opened a legal practice in
Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1807.
Webster quickly became an experienced and very good lawyer and a
Federalist party leader. In 1812, Webster was elected to the U.S. House of
Representatives because of his opposition to the War of 1812, which had crippled New England s
shipping trade. After two more terms in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Replying to South Carolina s Robert
Hayne in a Senate debate in 1830, Webster triumphantly defended the Union states by a very
powerful but short speech. He said, Liberty and Union, now and forever, one and inseparable,
made him a favorite and made him well known among many people worldwide.
Webster and President Andrew Jackson joined forces in 1833 to try to change South Carolina s
attempt to nullify the tariff, but Webster and the
Whigs battled him on other issues including his attack on the National Bank. Webster ran for the
presidency in the election of 1836 as one of the three
Whig candidates, but he mostly only Massachusetts voted for him so he lost badly because no
one else voted for him. For the rest of his career he tried very hard to get to the presidency and ran
in many elections hoping to get his shot at the office, but it never happened and he failed every
time. In 1841, Daniel Webstercame close to his idea of President but was only named secretary.
President William Henry Harrison appointed him to this position. When he got killed in April 1841,
John Tyler was brought to the presidency. In September 1841, all the Whigs resigned from the
cabinet except Webster. He remained to settle an argument with Great Britain having to do with the
Maine Canada boundary and he wanted to finish the
Webster Ashburn Treaty, which he finally did in 1842. The Whigs finally pressured Webster

Indigenous Education And Bilingual Education
By the late 70s, the government had moved towards a hybrid system of having bilingual educators
use indigenous language in primary schools to teach the national Spanish based curriculum with
Spanish materials (Hamel, Indigenous Education 275). After failing once again to produce positive
educational outcomes, the government moved to a bilingual and bicultural model in the 80s, then
an intercultural one in the 90s that is still in use today (Hamel, Indigenous Education 275). In 1991,
the Mexican constitution was amended to explicitly recognize indigenous rights for the first time
by promising to protect and promote the development of [indigenous] languages [and] cultures
(Hamel, Indigenous Education 276). This right was further elaborated... Show more content on

A study on bilingualism and income found some negative correlation between speaking an
indigenous language and income. On average, male monolingual Spanish speakers earn 23% more
than bilinguals and monolingual speakers of indigenous languages, with no significant difference
between the income levels of the last two groups (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). Effects were
more pronounced in their female counterparts: monolingual female Spanish speakers earned about
28% more than bilinguals who, in turn, earned 25% more than monolingual indigenous language
speakers (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). However, there is no indication that learning an
indigenous language was the cause for this disparity. In fact, class was a much better predictor of
income and success than language of education (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364). Still,
indigenous parents often believe that formally learning an indigenous language will not give their
children a competitive edge in the modern economy (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364).
Specifically, they point to the fact that, when given the chance to send their children to bilingual
institutions, the majority of non indigenous people including many bilingual teachers and activists
for indigenous language education send their children to schools that teach English or French
(Garcia, Politics 79). Yet, these arguments made by indigenous parents are often discredited by
activists, who attribute the reluctance to participate in bilingual programs to the fact that the
parents themselves are uneducated and do not know what is best for themselves, their children, and
their communities (Garcia, Politics

Notice To Defendant Summary
Johnson further contends that the circuit court abused its discretion by failing to exclude the
Notice to Defendant and the OPD Form because the documents probative value was substantially
outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice. Specifically, Johnson asserts that the documents
should have been excluded because they indicate that he had a pending criminal case, and that they
indicate that he is indigent. The State, for its part, asserts that the documents were critical to
establish that the contraband at issue here belonged to Johnson, and that any prejudice may have
suffered did not substantially outweigh the evidence s probative value. We agree with the State.
Although a judge has no discretion to admit irrelevant evidence, a judge does have considerable
discretion to exclude evidence if its probative value is substantially outweighed by the danger of
unfair prejudice, confusion of the issues, or misleading the jury, or by considerations of undue delay,
waste of time, or needless presentation of cumulative evidence. Md. Rule 5 403. Decisions in this

Without the admission of the documents to give context to how the contraband was discovered,
there are at least four individuals who might reasonably have possessed the contraband. To be sure,
the parties contest the persuasive value of these documents vigorously. The State, maintains that the
contraband was found in the trunk of a vehicle with multiple occupants and individuals to whom the
vehicle was registered was not among the occupants. Whereas Johnson maintains that the

War Between Europeans And Indians
Suspicion and hostility, branching from technological and cultural differences, as well as, mutual
feelings of being superior, have infused relations between Native Americans and non Natives in
North America. Intertribal conflicts among the Indians, and nationalistic rivalries, lacking faith, and
expansion desires on the part of non natives worsened these tensions. The resulting white and
native conflicts often took a particularly bad turn and resulted in the near destruction of the native
people(Native American). War between Europeans and Indians was common back in the 1600s. In
1622, the Powhatans nearly wiped out the already struggling Jamestown colony. Frustrated at the
continuing conflicts, Nathaniel Bacon and a group of whites destroyed the Pamunkey Indians
before leading an unsuccessful revolt against colonial authorities in 1676. Continuous wars also
plagued early Dutch colonies in New York. In New England, Puritan forces wiped out the Pequots
in 1636, a campaign s intensity that seemed to shape the future. Following attacks inspired by
King Philip against English settlements sparked a concerted response from the New England
Confederation. Employing Indian partnerships and a scorched earth policy, the colonists nearly
wiped out the Narragansetts, Wampanoag, and Nipmuck tribes in 1675 and1676. A major Pueblo
revolt also threatened New Mexico in 1680 (European). Indians were also a key factor in the
rivalries among France, Spain, and England. In King William s, Queen

Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother Amy
What does it mean to be American? The American identity has always been a complicated
discussion. It is by nature identified by diversity. Many think it has to do with the birthplace of the
person and others think it has to do with their inheritance. In 2011, Amy Chua published Battle
Hymn of the Tiger Mother as a memoir. Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother presents the evolution of
this American woman. The elements of Chuas evolution seemed to involve; native identity;
inherited identity; resisted identity and resolved identity. On October 26th 1962, one of the most
known authors was born: Amy Chua. Amy Chua was born in Champaign, Illinois in the Unites
States. She was raised as a catholic. Despite her having ancestry whom are Chinese, to be more
specific Kokkein dialect, she proudly carries around an American identity. She was born in the year
of the Tiger. In their culture, that represents people who are fearless, powerful, noble, and
authoritative. My familycomes from southern China s Fujian Province, which is famous for

she was born in order to continue their educational studies. Her father, Leon Ong Chua is an
American electrical engineer and computer scientist. He is a professor in the electrical
engineering and computer sciences department at the University of California, Berkeley. His
nationality is Holko and American. On the other side, the authors mother, Diana Chua was born in
China and moved to the Philippines at the age of 2. She converted to Catholicism when she was in
high school and received a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Santo Tomas. Amy
has three sisters and they are all known to be successful in their own ways. Amy Chua has 2
daughters: Sophia and Louisa. With Chua s Tiger parentingmethods, Sophia seems to respect and
listen to her mother which is the opposite than Lulu (Louisa). Lulu has more western
characteristics. For example, she talks back and doesn t respect her mother s orders. Briefly, these
aspects form her native identity. Amy Chua s evolution seemed to involve her inherited identity.

Optimism Vs Pessimism
Optimists and pessimists look at the world and life in very different ways. It s factual that optimism
and pessimism are both views, however, that s where the similarities ultimately end, and the
differences start to show. Optimists look at the world and life with joy, heart, and determination,
and pessimists, people who see the world and life negatively, just can t seem to muster the sort of
positivity that optimists have. The differences between the two views is most commonly seen when
it comes to romantic relationships, school, and work. Romantic relationships are difficult for
anyone. They are great things, and make life a little easier, however, romantic relationships can be
trying and often times hard to maintain. An optimist goes into a relationship knowing that it will be
hard, but they are far from afraid to push forward and weather the coming storm. Optimists keep
their positivity throughout a relationship, which helps eliminate jealousy and other things that
would eventually tear a relationship asunder. An optimists can maintain a relationship without
negativity eating at their mind, telling them that they should be worried, or angry, or afraid. On the
other hand, when a pessimist enters a romantic relationship they do not see it lasting, and often
times will put far too much pressure on their partner, because of their own insecurities to keep a
relationship going. Pessimists are constantly worried about their partner losing interest and cheating
or leaving

Kandinsky Vs Klee
Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee are two of the famous artists of abstract art. They both had
started their painting life since 1900, and they had had friendship during their lifetime. Which is
easier to compare their artworks by year and find the similarities of how they were influent by
each other. Such as Kandinsky s Improvisation and Klee s Colour shape in 1914, Kandinsky s
Black Increasing and Klee s Black Knight in 1927. Thus, the four paintingwould be the artworks to
compare. Two artists have the same perspective toward art. First, Kandinsky not only sees
colours as different moods but also sees them as the sounds of music. He also assigned
instrument tones to go with each colour: Red sounded like a trumpet; Green sounded like a
middle position violin; Light Blue sounded like flute; Dark Blue sounded like a cello, Yellow
sounded like a fanfare of trumpets; and White sounded like the pause in a harmonious melody.

Okonkwo s Violence
Okonkwo s violence in this novel says a lot about his character. The acts of violence keep the
story interesting and also aid the development of the theme. There have been numerous occasions
of violence that clue us, the readers, what kind of man Okonkwo is as well as how their culture is.
Not only do these acts make this story one worth discussing, it makes it one worth reading.
Things Fall Apart is a good book, however it is one with a slow beginning. The book s
introduction is not necessarily interesting until chapter four where he beats his wife during the
week of peace. I think there was a certain culture shock that the only thing wrong with this beating
was the time he decided to do it. It says Okonkwo was not the man to stop beating someone half
way through, not even for fear of a goddess. (21) He beat his wife even though he knew he would
later be punished by the goddess. After that incident their culture became so evident and so
particular that the story was highly alluring. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Okonkwo. He had felt very anxious but did not show it. (85) He was worried about his daughter

Analysis Of Edward Scissorhands, By Tim Burton
In my essay I am going to reference two films, Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Vincent (1982),
directed by Tim Burton. Edward Scissorhands, is Tim Burton s take on the Frankenstein story. We
can clearly see the influences that have appealed to Tim Burton in the classic Frankenstein (1931)
was not the character s monstrousness appeal but the sense of sad sorrow that audiences
sympathized to in Boris Karloffs performance. Whereas in Tim Burton s vision, we see a Special
character as the Frankenstein Monster, in the similar way that we call people with disabilities
Special. And then we have Vincent, a short stop motion animation. The short film itself is an
entertaining aspect of a suburban boy named Vincent who recites Edgar Ellen Poe and categorizes
with Horror filmstar, Vincent Price. With similarities to Edward Scissorhands, the main character is
a chance for Tim Burton to represent himself on the screen as a tortured boy, outsider and artist. I
am going to discuss how cultural and psychological concerns are represented through
characterization, art direction, cinematography, and sound. I will support my discussion by
analyzing a reflection on both the similarities and differences between the two films, and whether a
distinctive Burton signature (aesthetics, cultural and psychological concerns) is evident.
Cultural and psychological concerns is apparent through the use of characterization. Isolation

The Effects Of Climate Change On Social, Political, And...
In Egypt, the same word for bread is life. Food security and clean water are indispensable to
survival, and how do societies react when exogenous variables prohibit access to the basic staples
of life? Manfred Steger speaks briefly on globalization and environmental degradation and fails to
draw real conclusions about the impact of climatechange on social, political, and economic stability.
In Steger s A Brief Introduction to Globalization, he contends that, how people view their natural
environment depends to a great extent on their cultural milieu... [And] the US dominated culture
industry seeks to convince its global audience that the meaning and chief value of life can be
found in the limitless accumulation of material possessions (2003, p. 86). He later contends that a
revision of our current extractivist oriented cultural regime must occur as a response to our
pleading planet, as if only culture were to blame (2003, p. 92). This paper underlines the
connectedness of climate changeand social unrest and uses case studies from the Arab Spring to
color the arching narrative that the awakening was catalyzed and intensified by climate change.

The normal consensus is that rising food prices helped create the conditions for the Arab Spring

The Pros And Cons Of Indentured Servants
When Europeans first came to the New World they were stunned to see how cheap land was and
how expensive labor was. Many of these settlers relied on Indentured servants and Indians as
cheap labor but this came with many disadvantages. Indentured servants carried too high a price
for farmers who raised crops for subsistence. ( The American Journey Ch. 3, Pg.78) Another
disadvantage to using indentures servants was that they only worked long enough to repay the
debt they had. Using Indians also came with an array of problems. One of the most blaring
problems was the death rate. Many Native Americans died from diseases that the settlers brought
with them and some of them died from being overworked with made the death rate sky rocket. Men

Rhetorical Strategies In Frank Schaeffer s Speech Military...
The American government does not understand its people. Members of the government vote for
war and try to persuade the public to join the military. However, they rarely encourage their
children to volunteer for the military. In the speech Military Families, Frank Schaeffer explains that
because of this, the government does not understand the feelings of the people whose children are
in harm s way. Schaeffer uses rhetorical strategies such as historical allusions and repetition in order
to persuade the audience that the government is not capable of representing the people because
their children are not serving in the military.
Schaeffer utilizes historical allusions to show that governments whose leaders had children in the
military could

Parenting Styles And Family Relationships
Parenting styles have been researched in many different journals and their role in the promotion of
healthy child attachment to family, friends and social settings. In particular this review will focus
on parenting styles and their correlation to parent child attachment. The review will focus on the
four main parenting styles authoritarian, authoritative, permissive and neglect and examine the
effectiveness of these parenting styles on parent child attachment. Then the review will further
examine these parenting styles on themes that emerged throughout the literature reviewed. The
themes are: the child s perception of parenting styles, family dynamic, psychological effects and
children with health issues. After examining the literature the main overarching conclusion is that
authoritative parenting is the most satisfactory parenting style in all of the reviewed literature and
that authoritarian and permissive parenting reflect negative parenting styles and don t promote
positive parent child attachment. Family Dynamic Parenting styles and family dynamics have been
correlated in a study by Matejevic, Todorovic, Jovanovic (2014) where they examine the
correlation between balanced family systems and authoritative parenting and unbalanced family
systems and the appearance of authoritarian or permissive parenting styles (Matejevic, Todorovic
Jovanovic 2014 p. 433). The research examines family systems with two variables which focus on
the cohesion and flexibility of a family

2. Redish suggests various way that web site headlines can capture and retain an online audience.
The American Red Cross donation pages can be a good example of the seven guidelines that
Redish puts forth when writing effective headlines (https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation).
The author mentioned that titles such as Caroline Jarrett s Piggy in the Middle did not collect
nearly as many views as the headline entitled, Sentence or Title Case for Labels . Not only is the
latter more clearcut for a user to understand but undoubtedly appeared on more search results than
the vague Piggy in the Middle . Likewise, the American Red Cross donation page has a clear
headline that clearly foreshadows the content. It reads: Change Lives with... Show more content on

There is no clear headline except for a small blurb on the school s name, location, and telephone
number set against a backdrop of a various collection of photographs and gifs. Without a headline
or general structure besides that of the left hand side menu, a site user can get easily confused
and I would imagine that search results would respond in a similar fashion. 5. I ve found Skype

that [a] building block has to exist separately, but it doesn t have to function separately (1058). On
the page that helps the user get started with Skype, that uses building blocks in the form of
associated action links that forms the entire content of the help guide. Each topic is what Bakers

Risk Management in Johns Hopkins Hospital Introduction Risk management is the managerial
process of plummeting unreasonable and unplanned losses that ultimately affect an organization.
To many it is also referred to as a loss exposure handling mode of management. In many
organizations especially health facilities such as Johns Hopkins Hospital, losses mainly attributes
to a financial crisis and require proper risk management methodologies. There are a lot of risks
pertained to many day to day activities, ranging from surgeries to the actions of the health
workforce and the subordinate staff. Hence, it is vital to address the risks through necessitated
functions and tasks resulting to risk management. Concepts of Risk Management The basic concept
of risk management in health organizations is to better the care regarding patients and to relate this
aspect to financial consideration. The process maximizes on the care of patients and reduces
unexpected or spontaneous financial losses in the organization. It is, therefore, important for the
said institution to take dig into appropriate measures under risk management to curd problems in
its clinical, operational and its financial state. The core principle in risk management is the

Saltwater Crocodile Research Paper
The Saltwater Crocodile The saltwater crocodile is one of the largest non mammalian creatures.
It also lives to about 70 years and weighs about 1200 pounds for a male, and 200 pounds for a
female. The length of a male varies between 14 17 ft. While the females length is between 7.5 11
ft. All of these numbers are of averages of adult saltwater crocodiles. Now I will compare four
systems of a crocodile to a human. In the circulatory system, the crocodile has a four chambered
heart, as well as a double looped circulatory system. They breathe using their lungs in and under
water. The saltwater crocodile can be submerged for quite a while. Up to 8 hours as the longest
recording ever known. They use conservation of the oxygen and can survive in some sub
temperature ponds. This occurs when the crocodile heads too far north. As for humans, we can
obviously breathe using our lungs as well. Though we can not submerge and conserve oxygen as a
crocodile can. It is the same concept anyway, just made for their own habitat.... Show more content

It all starts at the super strong jaw of the saltwater crocodile. It can just brutally snap bones of a
once living animal, like nothing. Then, it heads south, where the crocodile uses the esophagus
and heads past the trachea. It continues on its path to the stomach, where it has incredibly strong
digestive acids. It needs this due to the way it devours animals. It goes to the intestines that sort
out what is needed and what is not needed. Finally, to remove and dispose the waste, it leaves
through the cloaca. All of the main digestive parts are the same to humans, except for the cloaca,
or human anus. It is pretty similar, but the crocodile has more of a incomplete disposal. We have a
full one, depending on what we eat. The crocodile just has a quick, rapid disposal, not much to
work on, just what needs to be

Film Analysis Of The Glass Castle
The Glass Castle was a true story of a dysfunctional family. Jeannette Walls published The Glass
Castle as a memoir in 2005. She described the struggles of her family life. Her father was an
alcoholic who could not keep a job, and her mother was an artist who focused on her painting.
With no income, they moved countless times during her childhood to avoid bill collectors. Their
last move was to Welch, West Virginia; her father s hometown. She shared how she lived in
unstable and harsh conditions. They led her and her siblings to plan a move as young adults to
New York. It made the familybonds stronger. Ironically, the parents followed the children. Years
later in 2017, the memoir was directed into a movie by Destin Daniel Cretton. He relied on
Jeannette Walls for references and created the filmadaptation. This book to film adaptation was
mostly accurate. It highlighted the various scenes from the book and delivered the same message
of family bonds. The film was able to do this through actors, costumes, and dialogues.
The actors were one of the reasons the film was accurate. Woody Harrelson portrayed the father,
Rex. He was an alcoholic, yet full of brilliant ideas when sober and loved his family. The glass
castle was a house that Rex had drawn blueprints and planned to build for them. Brie Larson
played the main character, Jeannette. She was one of the daughters of the Walls family and was
close to her father. She believed in him and supported his ideas of the glass

I Collected Rhonda s Demographic And Intake Information
In the following, we will examine three progress notes from my work with Rhonda throughout her
treatment, a final clinical summary of the work, and a self reflection section on not only the
challenges, but also what was learned from our work together.
First, we will examine my initial clinical note on 8/15/16 with client, Rhonda Smith, session one.
During this first session, I collected Rhonda s demographic and intake information (Murphy
Dillon, 2015; Reamer, 2001). This included a signed consent for treatment, which we reviewed
and all her questions were answered, as well as signed medical releases for previous therapy and
agency records, i.e., DVIS, CPS, CASA, that will be requested (Murphy Dillon, 2015; Reamer,
2001). Additionally, she was informed about HIPAA, patient privacy rights, billing practices,
professional boundaries and expectations, and how to contact me during business hours, and after
hours crisis lines, and on call assistance phone numbers for resources if it is outside of my business
hours (Murphy Dillon, 2015).
Together with the above information, I collected a comprehensive history of Rhonda at our initial
session. She is a thirty six year old Asian American, born in Los Angeles, but moved to rural
Arizona when she was five because her father took a job on a cattle ranch. Rhonda s family were
refugees that moved to L.A. after the Vietnam War ended and her parents are first generation
Hmong Americans. Further, she has three sisters and she

Wilbur s Airplane Flaw
Wilbur and Orville Wright faced many problems and challenges when striving to complete
development of the first ever motorized Aircraft, a lot of times, the problem was the weather. The
weather conditions in KillDevil Hills often included mainly rain. Also, the wind was sometimes
much too light to actually give the 625Lb. aircraft any lift. The problems that the Wright brothers
faced were not only the weather conditions but the airplane itself. When they first tested the
motor, it vibrated too much and it broke the propeller shafts. The propeller shaft was very
important because it was responsible for making the propeller spin. They had it repaired by Charlie
Taylor in Ohio. When they received the aircraft back, they decided to test

Racism In The Play Two Towns Of Jasper By Moises Kaufman
Racism is a global problem where societies subject individuals with certain attributes that are
judged as inferior or superior to special treatment [3]. Although its prevalence is waning off, this
problem is very old. It would also be quite difficult to eradicate racism from our societies
completely. This is due to the obvious variations in people s religion, color, geographic location,
culture and economic factors such as social class [3]. Whereas eradication of racismmight sound
impossible, the society can make enormous achievement in curbing its influence on most of the
world s communities.
Moises Kaufman along with the Tectonic Theatre Project produced a play The Laramie Project
between the years 2000 and 2002 [2]. Based on the murder of a student in Laramie city, the play ...

Two towns of Jasper is a documentary that explains the influence of racism on the minds of
people in Texas and the world based on complexion. Some individuals of white origin killed Byrd
Jr. a black American [1].
The aftermath of the incidence in Texas increased publicity regarding the rights of both African
and white individuals. Citizens of American, irrespective of their color have a right to live
anywhere in the country and to exercise their liberty of interaction [1]. Differences in cultural
values, perceptions and life priorities make it difficult for many communities to fight hatred and
violence between their people. The media s participation raised awareness on how people from the
two groups perceive each other but increased tension between them. The white community
perceives its black counterpart as a possible source of danger as it tries to deflect away its
involvement. It is, therefore, essential for communities to induce a perception within its members
that would make them embrace unity and break any possible racial

  • 2. Essay Selling Mortgage-Backed Securities Introduction According to news article on September 2nd contributed by Rexrode (2011) from AP, The government on Friday sued 17 financial firms, including the largest U.S. banks, for selling Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (Appendix) billions of dollars worth of mortgage backed securities that turned toxic when the housing market collapsed . Beyond the apparent legal issues, this article intrigued me to examine whether or not there are ethical issues involved regarding banks selling mortgage backed securities. A mortgage backed security is defined by Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC 2010) as debt obligations that represent claims to the cash flows from pools of mortgage loans, most commonly on residential property. To put it simple,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After reaching its peak in 2006, the US housing market finally collapsed, since then average house price have drop more than 30% as of 2010. (Parsons, 2011) What caused the housing price collapsed, that ultimately led to the downward of US Economy, was that many mortgages were paid by adjustable rate (Appendix), which increases in accordance with house price. Since the house price were picked up in an ascending speed from 2000 to 2006, so was the interest rate homeowners had to pay every month. Eventually, the interest went extremely high in 2006 and homeowners could not afford to pay their monthly mortgages anymore, and lost their home to the banks. That caused the chain reactions resulting in the dramatic price drop of mortgage backed securities because of diminishing house price. Dramatic security price drop could not have caused the house price dropped; on the contrary, had only the dramatic house price drop led to the securities price drop that ultimately cost investors billions of dollars. As a matter of fact, major banks and financial firms were only issuers of those securities; they have limited involvement and no direct control over price of securities. Thus, banks should not hold responsible for the house market collapse because it was simply market reactions. Investors vs. Major Banks Banks should not be blamed for causing investors hefty losses by selling securities; instead, investors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thought Bubble Content Analysis Introduction I chose to do my multi genre project on the Twenties. The Twenties have also interested me and that unit was by far my favorite this semester, so it only seemed right to go deeper into and expand my learning on it even more. To portray the different changes and new inventions that came about during this era, I did a drawing. In my drawing, there is a young flapper girl and a large thought bubble. Inside this bubble, it shows her reflecting on what has happened during the past ten years. Thought Bubble Content Explanation Many important milestones such as Prohibition (the 18th amendment), Women s Suffrage (the 19th amendment), and the Stock Market Crash in 1929. I chose to portray Prohibition by having a beer bottle tipped over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start with, the Flapper girl (in the lower left corner) was a major iconic figure during this period. Flappers were women who went against the normality and did not so lady like things. Many of them did this as self expression and to get there point across. Others did this to join the movement and be rebellious. Across the top of the paper, there is a border that looks like an old film reel that is unraveled and the tape is out. This movie reel tape is supposed to represent the increase and popularity found in movies and acting. It was a form of entertainment, as well as a hobby for some. Also to go along with the theme of acting and movies, in the title, the 20 s is red like a stage curtain and has yellow circles which are meant to look like dressing room lights. Another hint about the title, is that to show the main focus and topic of the drawing. It is also in bold/ fun colors because that s exactly what the Roaring 20 s were; bold and ... • 4. The Case Of Pope V. Illinois On July 21, 1983 local police detectives in Rockford, Illinois entered two different local book stores and purchased six magazines. Soon after exiting the store, police separately arrested clerks Richard Pope and Charles Morrison. Both men were charged and convicted for selling obscene materials, in accordance with an Illinois statute. On appeal, both petitioners argued that the Illinois statute was unconstitutional to both the first and Fourteenth Amendments. They reasoned that the state was required to make the value determination by an objective standard rather than community standard in conformance with the Miller decision, and the juries in this case had been instructed to judge whether the material had value as viewed by ordinary adults in the state of Illinois. The Appellate Court rejected the both petitioners arguments and the Illinois Supreme courtdenied requests for further review, but the United States Supreme Court granted certiorari and merged both cases for reexamination. The case, Pope v. Illinois, was argued on February 24, 1987. Glenn A. Stanko represented the petitioners whose argument was: The Illinois Obscenity Statute violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments by allowing the value element to be determined by community standards and instructing the jury to do so. Therefore, the convictions against petitioners must be reversed because the statute is invalid. Glenn Stanko made it clear that the petitioners did not argue whether the materials were ... In other words, he believe that most of what we learn today about management is outdated and do not accurately describe how businesses operating in today s society. He opens his article by comparing management theory to the reformation. At first the comparison seem unrelated but as I read along I realized that his analogy was not so far fetched. The gist is that management theory is like the Catholic church because in the 16th century the Catholic Church way of doing had numerous theological errors. Schumpeter believe that the reason why consolidation is so popular is because companies are enjoying record profits. I do agree with Schumpeter that more company consolidating instead of competing. The family affords its members with a social uniqueness. Offspring are born into their parents social class, culture and race, religious conviction, and so forth. The book compares older, colonial methods of conservation that were coercive and based on the myth , and newer Afrocentric conservation efforts that are more objective and inclusive to the African people. The authors explain the issues around African conservation as well as including their own input and potential solutions. One of the main points presented is that the myth that Africans and wildlife being incompatible must be broken. It is evident that Africans are just as passionate about their wildlife like the rest of the world and the authors try to bring this across to the rest of the world. However, conservationists must make sure that rural people are acknowledged and that they engage in conservation efforts to make sure projects are successful. Due to the age of the book, several issues are more prominent than others, such as habitat loss and overpopulation, and that the solutions to these issues will have changed with the development of technology. Public awareness and the education of issues are now more achievable and effective due to the advancement in communication in the form of social media and the fact many Africans own a mobile phones. The involvement of local communities will always be important in conservation and most of the points brought across in the book about the past will remain relevant. • 10. The Physics Of Satellites Orbiting Earth Satellites orbiting earth will experience external perturbations that can affect the orbit. The primary force acting on the satellite depends on the altitude of the orbit. The most significant effect is caused by atmospheric drag which affects satellites in low earth orbit. Outside of low earth orbit, satellites still experience external forces that could change the orbithowever unlike atmospheric drag, the orbit altitude will not necessarily decrease. In addition to atmospheric drag, satellites are subject to thermal drag and gravity perturbations. Atmospheric Drag: (Author: Emma) Atmospheric drag effects all spacecraft orbiting earth below 2,000 km, producing both short periodic and slow perturbations. It is the is the largest source of error in modeling the force on many satellites because it is difficult to predict [2]. Atmospheric drag is caused by the collisions of gas molecules with the spacecraft. Over time, the collisions start to decay the orbit. Demonstrating a positive feedback effect, where drag decreases the orbital altitude where the density is greater which produces more drag which then decays quicker. Factors that influence drag are the atmospheric drag surrounding the spacecraft, as well as the spacecrafts drag coefficient, area, mass and velocity [1]. The atmospheric density is not constant and changes with solar activity. The solar magnetic activity cycle is the periodic change in the sun s activity that lasts around 11 years. History: In the 19th century, Seattle s water came from springs, wells, and private water companies. However, the population of Seattle increased in the late 19th century, and the demand for water supply also increased. In June 6, 1889, there was a large fire what is called Great Seattle Fire in downtown Seattle. After this event, government decided to establish municipal water system. After this plan was approved, the government constructed the Cedar River water system. On January 10th, 1901, water from the Cedar River flowed into Seattle s water system for the first time. Eventually, there were three main categories to the European colonies. They were each unique, although one certain class stood in stark contrast to the other two. This group, the Middle colonies, was a halfway point between the New England and Southern colonies and not just geographically. A significant factor of any civilization, be it vast as the Roman Empire or pitifully miniscule, is spirituality. Religion was (and even remains to be) a big part of North America. New England was strictly Puritan. English Puritans sought out haven in the New World, far away from persecution in the mother country. The Southern colonies consisted mostly of Anglicans, though some may speculate that the Southerners were more concerned with worshipping wealth. The Middle colonies were quite different in that there was no single dominant religion. Pennsylvania, which contained the largest city in all the thirteen colonies, was well known for its many Quaker residents. However, there was also a fair share of Jews, Catholics, and other faiths, as well as the standard Puritans and Anglicans. Overall, the most defining factor of the Middle colonies was its ethnic diversity. The backgrounds of its inhabitants included (but was not limited to) German, Dutch, Scotch Irish, English, French, Welsh, Swedish, Polish, and Finnish. New England could not compete, for its population was almost entirely English, save for the scattered Dutch remnants of New Amsterdam and the Native Americans, of course. Arguably hidden behind punks and gangsters was a class of defiant girls who subverted the gender ideals of the time and are evidenced through a series of Bad Girl films. The bad girl filmcycle is one of the latter trends of the 50s Social Problem film and an examination of this cycle will provide theoretical speculation regarding its influence on the rise of the Second Wave Feminist Movement. In order to examine the potential influence of these films and the topicality of bad girl representation during the 1950s scare of juvenile delinquency, the following lines of inquiry will be explored: 1.An examination of the evolution of female representation in various film genres of the 1950s highlighting the commonly subservient role of female characters and the gender roles perpetuated through texts of this decade. 2.Next, I will reiterate the Social Problem film and the scare of juvenile delinquency during the 1950s. I will introduce the bad girl film genre in more detail, expanding the tropes/motifs of this cycle, and demonstrates how this genre can be subcategorized as a social problem film. 3.In order to understand the contention surrounding the bad girl films and its context in 1950s society, I will discuss the American Dream ideology of the time, primarily through its portrayal on television. • 15. Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay Conversion of a lawn mower to generator. INTRODUCTION: The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and levers. A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor). PROCEDURE: The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

SMC and PI Disturbance Compensation Techniques By using Nonlinear Speed Control for PMSM System ABSTRACT: In order to optimize the speed control performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system with different disturbances and uncertainties,. In further improve the disturbance rejection performance of SMC method, extended sliding mode disturbance observer (ESMDO) is proposed, and the estimated system disturbance is considered as the feed forward compensation part to compensate sliding mode speed controller. Thus, a composite control method combining an SMC part and a feed forward compensation part based on ESMDO, called SMC+ESMDO method, is developed. To suppress chattering problem, system variable was used in this reaching law.1 2 However, in the aforementioned reaching laws, the discontinuous gain rapidly decreases because of variation of the functions of the sliding surface, thus reducing the robustness of the controller near the sliding surface and also increasing the reaching time. 3 4In order to solve the aforementioned problems, a novel reaching law, which is based on the choice of an exponential term that adapts to the variations of the sliding mode surface and system states, is proposed in this paper. This reaching law is able to deal with the chattering/reaching time dilemma. Based on this reaching law, a sliding mode speed controller of PMSM is developed. 2. The Ieee 802 Standard Introduction Under the IEEE 802 standard, each one system interface gadget (counting system cards in machines, versatile Wi Fi empowered gadgets, and in addition individual ports in scaffolds or switches) ought to have an all around extraordinary 48 bit MAC address. • 20. What Is The Impact Of Beethoven Symphony 3 Ludwig Van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist born in 1770. He is one of the most well known composers in western music history, and is regarded as a crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras of music. In 1792, Beethoven migrated to Vienna, a thriving cultural hub of Europe, and lived there for the rest of his life. During this time, which is characterised as the late Classical Period, society underwent many socio political changes, such as the French Revolution. In this essay I will examine how the political climate of Europe influenced and inspired the composition of music, through the example of Beethoven s Symphony No. 3: Eroica. It is most well known for its connection with the historical figure Napoleon Bonaparte, who was a primary leader of the French Revolution and First Consul of the state at the time. Being a revolutionary himself, Beethoven held Bonaparte in high regard, and dedicated Symphony No. 3 to him, with the initial title Sinfonia Bonaparte . However, later in 1804, Bonaparte declared himself Emperor of France, and upon hearing this, Beethoven flew into a rage, [...] took hold of the title page at the top, ripped it all the way through, and flung it on the floor (Sipe, 31 ). Only then did he rename the work Sinfonia Eroica , or Heroic Symphony . Thus, it is apparent through the initial title of Sinfonia Bonaparte , that the composition of this piece was primarily influenced by Beethoven s political convictions of the revolution, and his great admiration for the man who appeared to be its leader. We can also see that the sudden destruction of the cover page of the symphony and the abrupt title change was due to the sudden betrayal by Bonaparte, and this shows us the intensity of Beethoven s feelings of rage as his homage was turned into disillusionment when Bonaparte crowned himself Emperor and altered politics in France ... Webster and President Andrew Jackson joined forces in 1833 to try to change South Carolina s attempt to nullify the tariff, but Webster and the Whigs battled him on other issues including his attack on the National Bank. Webster ran for the presidency in the election of 1836 as one of the three Whig candidates, but he mostly only Massachusetts voted for him so he lost badly because no one else voted for him. On average, male monolingual Spanish speakers earn 23% more than bilinguals and monolingual speakers of indigenous languages, with no significant difference between the income levels of the last two groups (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). Effects were more pronounced in their female counterparts: monolingual female Spanish speakers earned about 28% more than bilinguals who, in turn, earned 25% more than monolingual indigenous language speakers (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). However, there is no indication that learning an indigenous language was the cause for this disparity. In fact, class was a much better predictor of income and success than language of education (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364). Still, indigenous parents often believe that formally learning an indigenous language will not give their children a competitive edge in the modern economy (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364). Specifically, they point to the fact that, when given the chance to send their children to bilingual institutions, the majority of non indigenous people including many bilingual teachers and activists for indigenous language education send their children to schools that teach English or French (Garcia, Politics 79). Yet, these arguments made by indigenous parents are often discredited by activists, who attribute the reluctance to participate in bilingual programs to the fact that the parents themselves are uneducated and do not know what is best for themselves, their children, and their communities (Garcia, Politics ... Intertribal conflicts among the Indians, and nationalistic rivalries, lacking faith, and expansion desires on the part of non natives worsened these tensions. The resulting white and native conflicts often took a particularly bad turn and resulted in the near destruction of the native people(Native American). War between Europeans and Indians was common back in the 1600s. In 1622, the Powhatans nearly wiped out the already struggling Jamestown colony. Frustrated at the continuing conflicts, Nathaniel Bacon and a group of whites destroyed the Pamunkey Indians before leading an unsuccessful revolt against colonial authorities in 1676. Continuous wars also plagued early Dutch colonies in New York. In New England, Puritan forces wiped out the Pequots in 1636, a campaign s intensity that seemed to shape the future. Parenting Styles And Family Relationships Parenting styles have been researched in many different journals and their role in the promotion of healthy child attachment to family, friends and social settings. In particular this review will focus on parenting styles and their correlation to parent child attachment. The review will focus on the four main parenting styles authoritarian, authoritative, permissive and neglect and examine the effectiveness of these parenting styles on parent child attachment. Then the review will further examine these parenting styles on themes that emerged throughout the literature reviewed. The themes are: the child s perception of parenting styles, family dynamic, psychological effects and children with health issues. After examining the literature the main overarching conclusion is that authoritative parenting is the most satisfactory parenting style in all of the reviewed literature and that authoritarian and permissive parenting reflect negative parenting styles and don t promote positive parent child attachment. Family Dynamic Parenting styles and family dynamics have been correlated in a study by Matejevic, Todorovic, Jovanovic (2014) where they examine the correlation between balanced family systems and authoritative parenting and unbalanced family systems and the appearance of authoritarian or permissive parenting styles (Matejevic, Todorovic Jovanovic 2014 p. 433). • 46. Saltwater Crocodile Research Paper The Saltwater Crocodile The saltwater crocodile is one of the largest non mammalian creatures. It also lives to about 70 years and weighs about 1200 pounds for a male, and 200 pounds for a female. The length of a male varies between 14 17 ft. While the females length is between 7.5 11 ft. All of these numbers are of averages of adult saltwater crocodiles. Now I will compare four systems of a crocodile to a human. In the circulatory system, the crocodile has a four chambered heart, as well as a double looped circulatory system. They breathe using their lungs in and under water. The saltwater crocodile can be submerged for quite a while. Up to 8 hours as the longest recording ever known. They use conservation of the oxygen and can survive in some sub temperature ponds. This occurs when the crocodile heads too far north. As for humans, we can obviously breathe using our lungs as well. Though we can not submerge and conserve oxygen as a crocodile can. It is the same concept anyway, just made for their own habitat.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all starts at the super strong jaw of the saltwater crocodile. It goes to the intestines that sort out what is needed and what is not needed. Finally, to remove and dispose the waste, it leaves through the cloaca. All of the main digestive parts are the same to humans, except for the cloaca, or human anus. It is pretty similar, but the crocodile has more of a incomplete disposal. • 47. Film Analysis Of The Glass Castle The Glass Castle was a true story of a dysfunctional family. Jeannette Walls published The Glass Castle as a memoir in 2005. She described the struggles of her family life. Her father was an alcoholic who could not keep a job, and her mother was an artist who focused on her painting. With no income, they moved countless times during her childhood to avoid bill collectors. Their last move was to Welch, West Virginia; her father s hometown. She shared how she lived in unstable and harsh conditions. They led her and her siblings to plan a move as young adults to New York. It made the familybonds stronger. Ironically, the parents followed the children. Years later in 2017, the memoir was directed into a movie by Destin Daniel Cretton. He relied on Jeannette Walls for references and created the filmadaptation. This book to film adaptation was mostly accurate. It highlighted the various scenes from the book and delivered the same message of family bonds. The film was able to do this through actors, costumes, and dialogues. The actors were one of the reasons the film was accurate. Woody Harrelson portrayed the father, Rex. He was an alcoholic, yet full of brilliant ideas when sober and loved his family. The glass castle was a house that Rex had drawn blueprints and planned to build for them. Brie Larson played the main character, Jeannette. She was one of the daughters of the Walls family and was close to her father. She believed in him and supported his ideas of the glass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Collected Rhonda s Demographic And Intake Information In the following, we will examine three progress notes from my work with Rhonda throughout her treatment, a final clinical summary of the work, and a self reflection section on not only the challenges, but also what was learned from our work together. First, we will examine my initial clinical note on 8/15/16 with client, Rhonda Smith, session one. During this first session, I collected Rhonda s demographic and intake information (Murphy Dillon, 2015; Reamer, 2001). This included a signed consent for treatment, which we reviewed and all her questions were answered, as well as signed medical releases for previous therapy and agency records, i.e., DVIS, CPS, CASA, that will be requested (Murphy Dillon, 2015; Reamer, 2001). Additionally, she was informed about HIPAA, patient privacy rights, billing practices, professional boundaries and expectations, and how to contact me during business hours, and after hours crisis lines, and on call assistance phone numbers for resources if it is outside of my business hours (Murphy Dillon, 2015). Together with the above information, I collected a comprehensive history of Rhonda at our initial session. She is a thirty six year old Asian American, born in Los Angeles, but moved to rural Arizona when she was five because her father took a job on a cattle ranch. • 50. Racism In The Play Two Towns Of Jasper By Moises Kaufman Racism is a global problem where societies subject individuals with certain attributes that are judged as inferior or superior to special treatment [3]. Although its prevalence is waning off, this problem is very old. It would also be quite difficult to eradicate racism from our societies completely. This is due to the obvious variations in people s religion, color, geographic location, culture and economic factors such as social class [3]. Whereas eradication of racismmight sound impossible, the society can make enormous achievement in curbing its influence on most of the world s communities.
