This document discusses the pros and cons of choosing a dog versus a pig as a pet. It shares a story of an airman who bought a potbellied pig but ended up getting injured by it after the pig piled rugs in the hallway and squealed for food. While both dogs and pigs can make great pets, the essay argues that choosing a pet requires considering one's lifestyle, finances, and living arrangements to pick an animal that is suitable. Dogs tend to have a minimal impact and are often easier to care for than pigs, which require more attention and space.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.
How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

2. The Bobo Doll Experiment Importance In Psychology
Bobo Doll Experiment Importance in Psychology The Bobo Doll Experiment was an experiment
conducted by Albert Bandura and his colleagues. The experiment was to overall find results to the
question, do children act aggressively if they grow up watching aggressive behavior? The
conductor gathered participants for the study and got results showing that yes, children do tend to
act more aggressive when they grow up around adults acting in an aggressive behavior. Bandura
believed that children get their behaviors by the behaviors they watch, and after he performed his
study, his results were believed to be supportive of his hypothesis.
What is this Study?
The Bobo Doll Experiment reveals how children imitate TV violence and the behavior of others.
Albert Bandura was the man who conducted the study of The Bobo Doll Experiment. He
studied children s behavior in the years of 1961 and 1963. He decided to watch the children s
behaviors after he watched an adult act hostile towards a Bobo doll. A Bobo doll is a toy that gets
up by itself after it is knocked down.
Why did Bandura Study this?
Bandura and his colleagues, the scientists of the Bobo Doll Experiment, believed there was some
reason children learned the behaviors that was important to them in their lives. Bandura anticipated
that children that viewed aggressive models would behave in a similar fashion as the model and
those that had non aggressive models would behave in the same fashion and not have aggressive
actions (Green, 1961). The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate one of the ways children
learned aggression. The researchers were hoping to find the proof that children learned aggression
from viewing it by another person.
What did the Researchers do Who was Involved?
The researches of this experiment used a lab experiment. They gathered the participants that fit
their needs for the information needed for the experiment to get accurate results. The researchers
accumulated 36 boys and 36 girls, ages 37 to 69 months. There were also two adults involved,
male and female. Twenty four of the children had an aggressive male and female role model.
Twenty four of the children had a non aggressive male and female role model. The last twenty four

4. Wuthering Heights Character Analysis
If wellness is this what in hell s name is sickness? American singer Amanda Palmer captures what it
means to reside in both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange in her hit song, Runs in the
Family . Emily BrontГ« s Wuthering Heights puts the dysfunction in dysfunctional families by
using illness to demonstrate family dynamics. In the narrative, the affliction of mental illness is
spread to almost all characters as they enter the household of Wuthering Heights, while residents at
Thrushcross Grange are afflicted with physical illness, causing the ultimate upheaval of both
households.
The Wuthering Heights estate is first introduced to a fit of mental illness with the bringing of
Heathcliff onto the property as a young boy. From an early age Heathcliff is shaped into the later
psychopath he becomes, evident in his childhood treatment of the Wuthering Heights household:
He was not insolent to his benefactor, he was simply insensible; though knowing perfectly the
hold he had on his heart, and conscious he had only to speak and all the house would be obliged to
bend to his wishes (BrontГ« 25)
Sensitivity is not an object of Heathcliff s appeal, and ceases to be when he attains the title of
landlord. Evidence of his mental condition lies in the incident where he ruthlessly kidnaps Cathy
Linton for his son, and holds her hostage. Environmental fostering due to the seemingly schizotypal
Edgar, according to the servant Nellie Dean, contributed to the coldness of Heathcliff

6. Research Paper On Deep Sea Jellies
The ocean covers 71 percent of the Earth s surface, making the deep ocean one of the most
expansive habits. Although the ocean is extremely large, it is largely undiscovered; there has
been more people that have traveled to the moon than have gone to the depths of the ocean.
Depth and light are inversely related, so the deeper in the ocean one goes the less light is able to
reach to that point. Organisms that have called the depths of the ocean their home have adapted
to the extreme conditions in quite peculiar ways. Because red light is the first frequency of light
filtered out by the depth of water, deep sea jellies have evolved bodies that produce red light that
effectively makes them appear black because there is no red light to reflect.

Abstract This paper presents an experimental investigation on the behavior and strength of
reinforced concrete slabs with lap splice of tension reinforcement using headed bars. Nine simply
supported concrete one way slabs were tested to study the effect of lap splices length,
confinement at the splice zone, debonding of bars in the splice zone, and applying repeated
gradually increasing cyclic loading. It was found that implementation of lap splice length as
stated by ACI 318 14 for headed bars, but without adding confinement in the splice zone, and
using cut off ratio equal to 100%, resulted in a brittle failure of the slab and the ductility was
reduced. When the tested slabs were provided with confinement in the splice zone, the strength of
slabs was improved and ductility of these slabs was remarkably increased. Additionally, the
integrity of the lap joint was preserved when subjected to repeated gradually increasing cyclic
loading.

8. Circuit Board Fabricators
CBF has hired you to help determine why they are not able to produce the 1,000 boards per day.
1.What type of process flow structure is CBF using?
The company is using a batch shop process flow structure. CBF, Inc. bases its board fabrication
process on the average job size or on its typical order. This means that the company proceeds with
the manufacturing process in batches so as to meet the specific requirements per order. The
typical contract that the company currently gets is 60 boards per order. However, due to persisting
factory defects, they manufacture a total of 75 boards per batch in order to compensate for 20% of
the boards that they typically reject during the process.
2.Diagram the process in a manner similar to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The circuit board fabrication comes to an end after the copper plating. The boards are subjected
to a final electrical test to check the integrity of the circuits. Another 5% of the boards are found to
be defective during this stage. Before the tests are done, a setup is needed. The capacity for final
testing is computed as follows.
Overall, there is an apparent disparity between the capacities of each of the operation processes.
The output from the different stages ranges from 900 to as much as 1,800 boards. It is seen that the
bottleneck in the whole manufacturing of circuit boards is in the part that has the lowest capacity,
and incidentally, located in the earliest part of the production process В– the cleaning and coating
machines. This means that the maximum number of circuit boards that will be finished by the
end of the day is 900. From the finished boards, there is a historical defect rate of 20%, thereby
leaving a total of only 720 boards that are ready for packing and shipping to the customer. It is
therefore apparent that CBF is manufacturing very inefficiently, as they 280 circuit boards short of
the required output per shift of 1,000 units.
4.What is the impact of losses in the process in Inspection and Final Test?
It is said in the case that due to the losses in the system , CBF created a policy to increase the size
of an order to give way to rejected boards. The company has to make allowances in production

Margaret Cavendish, or famously known as Mad Madge , is a contributor to the Scientific
Revolution. She was a poet, writer, playwright, and a philosophical writer. She was born in
Colchester, U.K, in 1623 to a wealthy family, with little formal education. Her education was
commonplace for most girls of her time. Although, she gained insight and knowledge from reading
and also by listening to her brother, John, who had an degree in philosophy and whom eventually
came to be one of the people to establish the Royal Society. She was later the first womanto be

Tyne, was a man with connections to the other great minds of the time, which allowed her to
know them. He was very supportive of her dreams of being a published writer and helped her in
any way he could. Her marriage also made her Duchess of Newcastle upon Tyne. Margaret went
on to write philosophical works about reasoning and natural inquiry and other scientific thoughts

Countess Aurelia crumpled up her paper and tossed it in a pile of other balls of paper that had piled

couldn t write a simple poem about him. Every time she wrote one word, it wasn t good enough. It
didn t sound right, didn t describe him right.
But there was something about him that compelled her to keep trying, and poetry was what she
was best at.

Sir Carnell headed for the keep.
Aurelia followed him across the bridge. They went into the keep then into the hall. Sir Carnell
went to the dais where the King and Queen sat. Aurelia took a seat at the small table that was set up

Sir Carnell looked up at his king. Yes, your highness?
Respectful? Aurelia carved the word into her tablet, though it left a bad taste in her mouth.
You re coming with me, said Richard. He stood and descended the steps.
Special? Aurelia lifted her stylus to write, but stopped. Special was too general.
Queen Fayre waved at Aurelia. Hi, Aurelia! Did you write something?

Aurelia smiled at him and slid her tablet off the table and into her lap. She looked up at Fayre. Uh,

The poems that have chosen to be analyzed are Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost and The
Powwow at the End of the World by Sherman Alexie. Both of these poems have a common theme
that has to do with nature. Although the poems come from authors of two different
backgrounds, one is a white American and the other is a Native American. The poems each use
legends or myth to get a specific point across. These poems are great examples of myth/legend
use to drive its authors point across, such as Nature s first green is gold, a reflection of youth.
Nothing Gold Can Stay is a poem by Robert Frost; it is a beautifully written poem that uses
nature as a medium to discuss the importance of youth or childhood. He uses his word
specifically to create a definite meaning behind his word. The beginning of his poem starts with,
Nature s first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold. ; he uses the myth of gold being the purest
and most precious metal, to show that nature s first stage is precious as well. However, these
words have more than just their literal meaning, as Frost also alludes to youth. This quote from
the poem could be taken as: childhood is the best and purest part of life, but it is life s shortest
part. Gold is symbolized here as the purity of childhood and how precious it is. This entire
sentence is an impressive piece of writing, but the part that really makes it stand out is her hardest
hue to hold . The last part of the quote says nature s first green is the

year s first major. The next generation of American women is building the suspense for Australian
Open tennis tickets, the first major of 2018.
Will Australian Open Tennis Tickets See The Resurgence of the Old Guard?
Not to be lost on the American dominance by the US youth movement was the feat of Kaia
Kanepi. Kanepi reached the quarterfinals as qualifier, but may be part of a resurgence of mature
women pros. Venus Williamspushed her own ranking back within the top 5 heading into 2018, and
now sits as possible favorite leading to speculation she would warrant strong consideration as a
favorite heading into this year s tournament.
Williams will create a huge draw for Australian Open tennis tickets as she tries to win a major that
has eluded her. As recently as 2017, Venus navigated her way to a finals match against her
legendary sister, Serena.
As with their previous Australian Open final, Venus ended up runner up. With Serena still working
her way through new motherhood, Venus will have her eye on the title that has eluded her. As
amazing as the American dominance was at the US Open, one big reason for grabbing your
Australian Open tennis tickets might be the resurgence of one women s player.

why her and people think as they do to better understand their conclusion drawn from life.
However, Kingston struggles to see the world they live in, it s too indefinite and unclear meaning.
Nevertheless, she finds a way to relate the culture to her own life due to other Chinese relative s

culture more preciously were affected by this role. In addition, she gained a certain amount of

In the poem Richard Cory, by Edwin Arlington Robinson, the speaker, who is a collective group of
impoverished townspeople, recounts the ironic tale of a sophisticated yet secretly unhappy

imagery supported with repetitive diction, the townspeople learn that appearances can be deceiving

There are various ways to educate deaf students and one method is called mainstreaming.
Mainstreaming is when a student with a disability, in this case being hearing impaired, is taught in
a class with hearing students. Mainstreaming is supposed to be beneficial for the deaf student in
both a social level, as well as on an educational level. Focusing on the social aspect of
mainstreaming, it is important to look at deaf interactions with peers in the mainstream setting as
well as the acceptance of deaf peers from the hearing students. Deaf students are more likely to
succeed academically in the mainstream environment, but when it comes to peer relations and

Most people wouldn t pay any mind to care about coastal resilience and the sea level rise in the
Tidewater area of Virginia. However, they are very important to the community and its
development. In the past I was one of those people as well until I knew how much the Tidewater
area could be affected by an extreme weather storm or pipe malfunction. Growing up in Virginia
Beach I ve always questioned why the houses in Virginia didn t have basements. Because
Virginia s elevation is approximately 5,729 feet, the average elevation is 12 feet above sea level, it
s considered below sea level. The Tidewater area in Virginia is known for flooding when there
are rain storms or other serious weather conditions as well. This is not only because of Virginia s

The sea levels are rising due to the compaction of the groundwater withdrawals, post glaciation

will cause the beaches to erode and create flooding. Due to sea levels rising, about 13.1 million
people in Virginia will be displaced and approximately two billion people in the world. Coastal

Analytical Research Paper
Thomas Middleton s, Women Beware Women and Arthur Miller s The Crucible, are both set in the
1600s a time when women did not have any rights. Although both stories are completely different
from each other, they share a common trait of bold, powerful women. In The Crucible, Abigail s
jealousy and desire to have revenge on Elizabeth Proctor has her manipulate everyone in the town
of Salem causing hysteria. Livia, the widow in Women Beware Women strategically
manipulates every person to turn their backs on each other which creates a tragedy. Abigail and
Livia are the villains in their community but how they acquire their power is very different.
While Abigail s power comes from her intense desire for revenge on a specific person and then
spreads throughout the community, Livia s motivation for power originates from her own
boredom and desire for control on a large scale. Both of these characters are nothing short of
cynical. They are motivated by self interest and cannot be trusted. Livia, is the sister to Hippolito
and Fabritio and the aunt to Isabella. She is a wealthy woman on her own but her life went down
hill after losing two husbands. There is no question that she is the essence of evil in Women
Beware Women because she wants other people to be miserable as she once was. In The

they can just blow through it. Internships should be beneficial for the students and the employer s.
The internship program coordinator should look for a few things when they are picking out the
companies in which they are going to send their students to learn and gain experience. First off the
firm in which you might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do.
Sitting behind a desk all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. It also helps out
when there are positive people surrounding the student intern. For an internship to work, the firm s
principals must be available to supervise and teach. (Berger 30) The student intern will usually
have lots of questions and if there are good people around the intern to answer his or her questions
and correct their mistakes then the internship will be quite beneficial.
There are legal concerns that come along with internships that the

35. Spirit Possession
This week I have been struggling with centering my paper topic. I want to explore the use of
psychedelics in spirit possessions. More specifically, I want to explore the validity of drug
induced shamanistic experiences like in the case of Amazonian Shamans and their use of
Ayahuasca. But I keep running into the problem of shifting my focus into something that doesn t
feel, at least to me, like topics of spirit possession. This is why I have devoted most of my
research into attempting to define the type of spirit possession I am going to be talking about. I
ran across an article by Emma Cohen that tackles this very task, she states that there are two main
forms of possession. One is pathogenic which results from the operation possession concepts result
from the operation of cognitive tools that deal with the representation of contamination (both
positive and negative); the presence of the spirit entity is typically (but not always) manifested in
the form of illness. The other is executive, this type of possession mobilizes cognitive tools that
deal with the world of intentional agents; the spirit entity is typically represented as taking over the
host s executive control, or replacing the host s mind (or intentional agency), thus assuming control
of bodily behaviors. For the purposes of the paper, I think that I am going to be using both models.

ceremonially induced, that recognizes the parasitic spirits and cures or expels them from the

36. The Human Significance Of Skin Essay
THE HUMAN SIGNIFICANCE OF SKIN
Skin is often over looked and under appreciated by all of us. We live our lives habitually without
realizing what an amazing and important role skin plays in our every day routine. Our skin
protects us from many things, keeps us informed of our surroundings and makes us aware of
many dangers present. The sense of touch is our most developed feeling and the predecessor of
all of our other senses. The author gives several examples on how we have incorporated our sense
of touch to our colloquial language as an expression of just how much we use our skin. But our
skin may serve more purposes than those of protection and information. Through several
experiments it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one was made out of terry cloth and was warm and soft. The second one was made out of
wire and carried the milk that would feed the monkeys. Monkeys responded to the stimuli of the
terry cloth mother in such a way that it overshadowed the purpose of mother?s milk and put close
contact as the main principle of nursing. The infant monkeys were expected to be conditioned to the
wire monkey and respond to their instinct of survival first. But the study showed that the monkeys
valued tactile stimulation more than they did nourishment, preferring to cling to the mothers that
provided them with warmth and physical contact.

* Parent newborn bond: The strong feelings of attachment that arise between parents and their

When a baby is born, a mother is born as well. Harlow observed in the monkeys that the need from
the mother to have intimate contact with the newborn was greater than the newborn?s need for
contact with the mother. In the human mother, the parent newborn bond is much stronger than in
the other mammals serving the purpose of arresting post partum depression, contraction of the

American Phytopathological Society. Coffee rust. Updated 2011. Apsnet.org. Accessed April 12,

Coupled with imagery, Coffee rust is described through numerous biological factors such as its life
cycle, and its survival rate in Coffea arabica, and Coffea canephora (Arabica Coffee and robusta
coffee). The article discusses a quick overview of coffee s popularity and previous names for
coffee rust, dating as far back as the 1860s. An analysis of the pathogen s biology is covered,
discussing how the infection begins and how it reduces the survivability of the plant. Germination
is the real threat since this fungus can quickly spread in 24 48 hour, especially in wet and humid
weather. On top of that, another fungus, known as Verticillium hemileiae, can come along and
colonize the coffee rust lesions. But even then, it doesn t help the plant survive.
Fungi are fascinating, yet terrifying organisms. The text does a good job of describing how they
operate (through spores) and long does it affect the plant in the short term (rust that causes the ...

Witi Ihimaera manipulates the characters within the novel The Whale Rider to convey the theme
of Unconditional love. Eight year old Kahu was born into a tribe with deep cultural and
traditional beliefs that remains instilled in the members through the rigid leadership of Koro

first born of Poruorangi; successor and heir to the Whangara tribe, in which according to tradition

A term that describes the hatred or entrenched prejudice towards women and the downgrading of
females in social hierarchies. This form of discrimination to women is thinly disguised in today
s modernising world, but nevertheless remains deeply manifested in society. Koro Apriana
developed his views and opinions from his childhood where his elders imprinted the rules and
moral values of the Maori people in order to prepare him for his role as chief. However, in those
years, the role of the women in society was to remain in the home tending to children and
preparing meals; whereas in the modernising western world women have been empowered and
viewed as capable. A girl , Koro Apriana said, disgusted. She has broken the male line of descent

39. Lise Meitner s Fission Research
When men claim the glass ceiling was shattered with Rosie the Riveter, I can t help but laugh. The
structure is transparent to them, by its very nature. They see women struggling beneath the barrier
but attribute it to a lack of work ethic or skill set, instead of a societal ill. Qualified women are
demeaned by men when they encounter roadblocks, ones they never had to face. Genderbased
discrimination no longer prevents femalesuffrage, but norms and socialization encourage male
superiority. It is the duty of women who succeed to cultivate future female success. I firmly
believe women can lead change in any field, but too often their achievements are ignored or
underplayed. Lise Meitner s groundbreaking fission research was passed over, the Nobel Prize
presented to her colleague instead. Textbooks applaud Watson and Crick with minimal discussion
of Rosalind Franklin. Female political figures are discussed with regards to appearance rather than
policy. Even at my school, where the Gender/Sexuality Minority Alliance and Student Assembly for

more likely to be in poverty than men in every region of the United States, and the refrain of 77
cents to the dollar doesn t account for women of color, who make even less. Because of these
individual success stories, some mistakenly interpret this as evidence that all women are
unrestricted from reaching their full potential. Young girls now have the advantage of seeing more
women in leadership positions, but this trend only helps women if these leaders are afforded the

In most groups there are people who speak a lot and others who speak rarely, if at all, because
they feel uncomfortable speaking in front of a group of people or they are just not interested.
Groups work best if there is a team leader who encourages everyone to have a say in turn, rather
than everyone trying to speak at once.
2 Assessment of my one to one presentation
Case study or scenario this was played out in class with one of my peers, I played Mr Barhrami.
Mr Bahrami moved into Maple Green Care Home three months ago. He is feeling very cared for
in terms of the personal care that he receives, but has a deep seed loneliness that has made him
very withdrawn. His move was associated with the death of wife, who had been his main carer.
She also was the main person that communicated with Farsi. Although he moved to Britain from
Iran 10years ago and can speak some English, his dialogue is very limited.
My strengths * There was excellent eye contact between my peer, the audience and I. * Good
facial expressions were used in the one to one interaction. * Appropriate open and closed
questions were answered during my one to one interaction. * I took my time appropriately when
speaking to the social worker (which was played by my peer Shirley Ann). * I use a clear voice
tone during the interaction. * I expressed myself in an articulate manner during my one to one

41. Satire In Wizard Of Oz And A Modest Proposal
Satire has been a part of literature as long as there has been chaos in the world. Two of the most
famous satire pieces are The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and A Modest Proposal by Jonathan
Swift. Both author s lives can be directly tied to the theme of finding your way home in The
Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Ozbegins with Dorothy accidentally finding herself in the magical
land of Ozafter a tornado blows her away. She immediately wants to leave and return to her home
in Kansas. She starts a journey to meet the Wizard of Oz who can supposedly grant her wish.
Along the way she meets several friends who want The Wizard to fix their problems as well. One
of the infamous characters was the Scarecrow. While resting on their travels to the Emerald City,
Scarecrow asks Dorothy why she wishes to return home when Oz is so beautiful. She replies with
No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live
there than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home. (Baum,
Chapter 4)
Dorothy thinks that she would be better off away from home before she even arrives in Oz, but as
soon as there is a chance that she may not be able to return, she misses it severely. Even though Oz
is whimsical and exciting, it just does not compare to her home. ... Show more content on

Frank Baum s life can relate to Dorothy s adventures in The Wizard of Oz. He was privileged as
a child, so he was allowed to focus more on the arts than manual labour or a trade. After Baum
left school, he started writing, his main work at first being on his self produced newspaper, The
Rose Lawn Home Journal. He also wrote a five act play called The Maid of Arran while traveling
with a Shakespearean troupe. After marrying Maud Gage in 1883, Baum started to stray away from
writing. From this point on, every time that he tried to keep a job that was not directly related to
storytelling, he was met with scant success. (Contemporary Authors

42. A Summary Of Vildar s Fight
Vildar flexed his fingers and put his elbow on the table. Tiber Grist shrugged and followed suit.
Arm wrestling. That s what the game is. Thought Holt. Probably not the best move Vildar had
made, especially drunk and against an opponent who was bigger and stronger than him. But
strength was not always the winner in these things, a little cunning always helped, and that s what
Holt hoped to adopt.
They took their positions, hands interlocking. Tiber Grist grinned crookedly at his challenger.
Immediately Vildar s arm was driven back. Holt watched as his muscles locked taking the strain.

He cracked his knuckles. Very well, but I warn you, I am not very good at this.
Tiber Grist eyed him, deciding whether to believe him or not.
Holt had lied. In fact, he was very good at this. Eldon and himself often arm wrestled for fun, and
like Grist, Eldon was bigger and stronger than him.
But he did not need to win. For this plan to work. He needed to lose.
He took the strain, forcing the other Gnomes arm backwards. He might mean to lose the game but
it did not mean he was going to make it easy for Grist.
Holt continued to force the arm back. A look of startled surprise crossed Tiber Grist s features. A
bead of sweat ran down his face and dripped off the nose ring.
Slowly Holt released the pressure. Not enough to cause suspicion, just enough to let Grist think he
was gaining the upper hand.
Around them the other Gnome s bayed and chanted, slapping their hands and beer jugs on the
wooden benches.
Gradually Grist wrestled Holt s arm back until it was inches above the tabletop. Holt held it there,
showing the strain on his face. Then he let it go. Tiber Grist grinned in triumph. Well done, for a
moment there I thought you had me.
Lucky, I guess, Holt

43. Springbok Tour Essay
The events that occured in New Zealand during the 1981 Springbok tour were not simply
spontaneous. Instead, they were the result of New Zealanders becoming progressively uneasy over
a number of years with New Zealand s readiness to compete with the Springboks.
The 1960 tour is credited as the starting point for the debate surrounding sporting contact with South
Africa. There was extensive public discussion and anger over the NZRFU s decision to exclude
MДЃori from the All Blacks. In 1959 the All Blacks received an invitation to tour South Africathe

The Apartheid regime and term apartheid in South Africa was introduced in 1948 as a part of
Daniel Francois Malan s election campaign. The apartheid system was a type of racial
segregation introduced in South Africa in 1948, resulting in the majority of Blacks in South
Africa being refused basic human rights, whilst whites were living in a time of white supremacy
. It included laws such as the Population Registration Act 1950, the Reservation of Separate
Amenities Act 1953, and the Immorality Act 1950. These laws severely limited the rights of
blacks. The apartheid system forcefully suppressed any resistance, such as at Sharpeville on
March 21 1960, when 69 blacks were killed, and the Soweto Riots 1976 77, when 576 people
died. This abuse towards people of colour in South Africa made people around the world want to
protest against South Africa s government. However, the New Zealand government did not take
serious action against South Africa. The National government had a protocol of bridge building ,
which sustained ties with South Africa. They allowed sporting contact, such as a Springbok tour
of New Zealand in 1960. This led to protest in 1981 because the government s lack of action
against the abuse caused by the apartheid system made people want to protest

44. Relationship Between Self Esteem and Achievement
ABSTRACT
The present study explored the relationship between individual self esteem and achievement. The
sample of the study consisted of 85 respondents working in the private sector of Pakistan. A total of
21 companies were visited for this purpose. It was hypothesized that individuals having self esteem
will also have high achievement. Two scales were used to measure self esteem and achievement.
Self esteem scale comprised of 13 items and the achievement scale also comprised of 13 items
measured on 6 components of achievement. Both questionnaires were given to each subject and
analyzed afterwards. The results indicated that those subjects scoring high on self esteem scale also
scored high on achievement scale. The results are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosenberg (1979) viewed the self as made up of 2 elements, identity which represents cognitive
variables and self esteem which represents the affective variables.
Self esteem is operationally defined as:
Individual s feelings about his or her worth as a person, derived from the evaluation of various
salient dimensions of the self, namely psychological, social and physical or any other (Rifai, 1999).
Types of Self esteem
Korman (1986) suggests three types of self esteem. They are:
Chronic Self esteem
This type is defined as a relatively persistent personality trait or dispositional state that occurs
consistently across various situations. This self esteem is a result of past experiences and focuses
on one s competencies. An individual s confidence in his/her competencies directs the individual
into situations which require the use of those competencies.
Task Specific Self esteem
Task specific self esteem is one s self perception of his/her competence concerning a particular
task or job. This type of self esteem is the result of feedback, which comes directly from the
observation of he results of one s efforts.
Socially Influenced Self esteem
This type of self esteem is a function of the expectations of others. It results from communication
or feedback from reference group members or society as a whole, concerning the value of identity
and the individual s ability to meet the expectations of the reference groups and/or the society as a
whole.

45. Declaration Of Sentiments Analysis
Like any major changes that happen within a society, there are usually people who have fought
long and hard, or perhaps, have held powerful positions which enabled them to facilitate change.
There were many women in history who were brave enough to speak against their religion and
offer new teachings, women who were bold enough to bear arms, women in power who used their
voice to speak against sexisism, and a woman who understood what it meant to live in two cultures
and plainly prefer one over the other. Anne Hutchinson was a puritan living in the mid 1600s and
left England to lead a new life in America (Kendall 14). She thought she would have more freedom

Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton met at a temperance meeting and were both appalled at the
fact that they were not allowed to speak (Rossi 11). Stanton convinced Anthony to join her in the
women s rights movement. Stanton needed someone to deliver her speeches because she was
encouraged to spend more time at home with her family. Stanton had a large family so she had
little time to travel and lecture, (Kendall 41). Stanton wanted to share her own ideas with other
people, but her father and husband didn t approve of her sharing any speeches or writings in
public. This was similar to a situation the Grimke Sisters were in when people didn t appreciate and
approve of the fact that they were speaking their ideas out in the public (Deverell and White).
Anthony Anthony had lots of spare time because she didn t have a family, therefore, she could
dedicate her spare time to helping the cause. Anthony and Stanton started a partnership together and
ended up working with one another for about fifty years (Rossi 11). After helping with Stanton s
public speeches, the two women continued working together to bring awareness to women s rights.
Stanton and Anthony wrote an article together on divorces and how they hated males. This was
especially a big shocker to people back in the 1800s (Rossi 15). Together, Stanton and Anthony
started the NWSA, or the National Woman Suffrage Association which, worked for a Constitutional
amendment to give women the right to vote in national
