Course Objective After completing this module the student will: • Define the scope of the GCCH-1 standards. • Explain the benefits of the GCCH-1 standards. • Identify the audience for the GCCH-1 standards. • Recognize deviations that supersede the GCCH-1 standards. • Discuss the different Normative References used. • List the GCCH-1 supporting information. Course Objective • Differentiate the terms regulation, guideline, and standard. • Identify the content and sections of the GCCH-1 standards. • Locate the current version of the GCCH-1 standards. • Identify GCCH-1 standards within a Global SOR. Course Scope • GCCH-1 applies to control system hardware designs for GM Vehicle Systems and Powertrain. • Additional specifications and standards may be provided for a specific project, but the content of GCCH-1 shall take precedence in cases where another standard presents opposing direction. • Only national or local codes and regulations (legal requirements) shall supersede this document for any GM project. • Any and all conflicts must be documented and presented to the appropriate GM project or controls engineer responsible for resolution. GCCH-1 Benefits • Assure safe operation of industrial equipment. • Increase productivity of systems. • Introduce common systems to all areas. • Reduce tool costs. • Leverage engineering resources. • Provide flexible designs to accommodate changes. Design and turn-key suppliers do not have to keep track of different design documents. • Cost effective by using a common design method Product Quality Course Audience The GCCH-1 is primarily used by controls design personnel; however, it shall be used by all personnel involved in the lifecycle of controls systems such as: • Control engineers • Machine tool builders • Installation personnel • In-plant resources PS: This certificate is only awarded after theoretical and practical tests conducted by Macomb Community College. Minimum required score 70% or higher.
