Music Therapy Interview
Music therapy is one of several approaches individuals can utilize to improve or maintain their
mental condition and treat various underlying health conditions in a holistic manner. It is a
modality that utilizes many allied health professions. Music therapists have found the use of music
during therapy improves patients ability to maintain and improve their daily routines, cognitive
abilities, sensory motor skills, social skills, confidence, and overall perspective. The most important
mind set that a patient can achieve is that of confidence. When a person is under the continuous
stress that comes with declining health, their confidence and self esteem is often shattered. The

The purpose of this interview was to obtain information from a program that has been already
implemented in an acute healthcare facility and get insight information on the challenges and
resistance faced from patients or other healthcare personnel. The Nurse gave an overview of the
program in place currently at the hospital. The goal and purpose of the program is to offer patients
with a holistic approach to treating their sickness or underlying problem, with a focus on their
overall physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The program director explained that patients are
offered the option to have different holistic interventions in place at the time in which they are
admitted to the hospital and the medical record is being registered. With the interventions that are
offered at the hospital, music therapy is the main one chosen by the patients. The rational for this is
that patients feel comfortable with this intervention because of the already known impact music has
on their normal daily life. After the patient has opted for these holistic interventions, the patient s
admitting doctor has to approve those requests. This is the doctors acknowledging the patient s
wishes and write an order to have those intervention started for that particular patient. With all this
in place the patient receives his therapy at times that fit into his plan of care. This therapy is
worked into his patient plan of care while at the facility in the same way that physical therapy is set
for the patient. The same importance is given to a music therapy appointment as would be given to
any other appointment. The program coordinator stated that much resistance was found from
healthcare personals that were involved in the direct care of several patients that requested

The Dangers Of Credit Cards
Dangers of Credit
When you get a credit card you would feel as if spending
money is painless and easy. Using cash will cause you to
think because it would disappear for every, making it more
of a harder thing to do. Making credit cards easier to spend
money on causing people to go into debit.
How do people go into
debt ?
Credit card organizations don t just give people money
because they want to be nice. Those companies count
on people being forgetful or not responsible causing
them to be late or not being able to pay off their debit.
if you are late or it s just the matter that you don t have
enough money to pay it off that month, then you will
have to pay a fee. On top of that free their will be
interest. So then you will have to end up paying more
from what you actually owe. They do not care if you go
under a spiral of debit, it s just a game to them , and the
companies are the ones getting rich.
How can I prevent debt?
Since companies want people to fall
under debit. Try to not be that
person. Be that person who pays
their money they owe every month.
Don t buy food or things under 10
dollars with it. Create a budget ,
which shows you where and how much many you can spend.
Finally , when you are buying something with your credit
card ask yourself can I come up with that money soon,
What is Credit?
Basically credit is the amount of money someone such
as a lender will risk to help you get money. You aren t

Coup In Chile Essay
The coup in Chile on September 11, 1973 was a military action carried out by the Armed Forces of
Chile formed by the Navy, Air Force and Army together with Carabineros de Chile to overthrow the
socialist president Salvador Allende and the Popular Unity government.
Salvador Allende took office in 1970 as President of Chile, the first Marxist politician in the world
who came to power through general elections in a state of Derecho. For His government, marking
reformist, was characterized by a growing polarization society and politics in a tough economic
crisis that led to a strong social upheaval.
The ability to execute a coup against the Allende government existed even before his election. The

On October 19, 1970, a group of men equipped with tear gas grenades attempted to kidnap
Schneider off an official dinner. The attempt failed because the General left the room in his
private car and not in the official vehicle provided by the men of Viaux. The second attempted
abduction took place at 08:00 on October 22, 1970, when the official car of Schneider was
blocked by four vehicles at the corner of Avenida AmГ©rico Vespucio with Martin de Zamora
(Las Condes) and a group youth surrounded the General, with hammers smashing the rear
windows and rear side door. Realizing that Schneider took his weapon to repel the action, the
kidnappers shot him, impacting it with three bullets, then fled. Cape driver, Leopoldo Mauna
Morales, seeing bleeding the commander in chief, took him to the Military Hospital. Because of
its critical condition, the general suffered cardiac arrest and died at 07:50 of October 25, 1970,
Schneider Doctrine was a principle of adherence to constitutional order, respect for the citizens will
and nonintervention in policy by the Chilean Army. He embodied by the Chilean general, allowed
the election of Salvador Allende as president of Chile, and was the main ideological obstacle to
military coup against him.

The Importance of Jack s Character in Golding s Novel Lord...
The Importance of Jack s Character in Golding s Novel Lord Of The Flies
Golding s novel Lord of the Flies follows the story of a group of boys stranded on an isolated desert
island. There is no figure of authority on the island and as their delicate sense of order fades, their
behaviour stats to take on a more savage significance.
At the beginning of the novel, Jack is the most obvious leader. The reader is introduced to Jack
near the end of the first chapter, as he leads the choir to the meeting. Jack is described as the boy
who controlled them before Golding even tells the reader his name. The word controlled hints that
Jack is a dictator, as is shown later in the novel.

He thinks he should be the Chief and dislikes Ralph from the beginning because he feels that Ralph
took the power that should rightfully be his.
Ralph and Jack are very similar, and can be contrasted because they are both natural leaders. In a
way, Ralph and Jack are the same person, but both have different priorities, and different leadership
styles. Ralph is democratic and selfless, associated with order and control and tries to be fair. Jack,
however, is a dictator, with a selfish leadership style, his priorities being only himself and hunting.
Jack demands respect, whereas Ralph earns it. The point of this is to show that although two
people may have the same qualities, the choices made by the people make a difference; it shows
how the same person can turn out just because one chooses savagery and one chooses order and
democracy. Ralph and Jack show the two kinds of mankind good and evil.
Jack is the only boy whose last name we learn. This is because the choir call him Merridew
which shows that even at this point in the novel, Jack has authority and power. The fact that the
choir use his last name is quite militaristic, but also is a way of Jack denying his identity and
trying to make himself more powerful than he is. It is as though Jack does not want to be seen as
a child, but as a figure of authority. This is also shown when Jack assumes he

Artificial Reef Paper
The goals of this paper were to bring to light the results of the way divers felt after exploring
artificial reefs. And how they would perceive new projects of reef building in the Red Sea in Eilat
Israel. Coral deaths and bleaching are caused mostly by people who just wish to admire the reefs in
their natural state. With no destructive intentions. The outcome of the study shows us that the
artificial reefs were well looked upon by the divers due to experience they had while diving on the
artificial compared to the natural reefs around them. The article tell us what it is about the artificial
reefs that attract divers, the promising marketing potential artificial reefs present by creating mass

But then goes on to explain how any disaster could be avoided by zoning , which is the method of
allowing people to experience only a slice of what a reef has to offer rather than letting the
ecotourists roam free while heightening the possibility of coral damage that could be irreversible.
An apparent solution to the fight between the economic battle and the ecological threats is building
artificial reefs right next to natural reefs to divert divers away from the natural ones. Artificial reefs
made up of large vehicles underwater is sure to draw attention and damage away from the natural
reef. This has extreme benefits to ocean conservation and ecotourism.
The methods used in Eilat, Israel were to provide a more diverse diving experience and redirect
divers away from the fragile natural corals. Over the years that artificial reefs have been established
along the coast of Eilat, some for divers entertainment and some for research, It attracts more
European tourists and they by extension learn about how their activity could be detrimental to the
natural corals while they enjoy an artificial

Chronic Insomnia
brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249).
Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that
makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six
months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced
throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory
neurotransmitter that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity
(Mehta,2008). This attributes to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive
thoughts and emotions but at the nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a
neurobiological state of chronic insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major
depression disorder and anxiety disorders that both factor into disturbed sleep (health.com). To
support this theory, researchers collected data on 16 people ... Show more content on

Essay on Societies’ Take on Gender and Disney Movies
Societies Take on Gender and Disney Movies
When I was younger and learning about life is when I probably watched the most television. I
fell in love with watching animated television shows and movies; in fact the first movie I had
ever seen in theatres was Aladdin in 1992, a well known Disney classic. Disney movies became
my all time favorite. Now watching them I have come to the realization of how they could affect
how any child s views on different gender roles. As Michael Kimmel explains We now know that
gender is one of the central organizing principle around which social life revolves. (Kimmel, 2) The

women is widely looked at by these little adolescent girls and makes them feel as if this is the
look of perfection; the look of a princess. Every Disney princess has a tiny waist, yet unimaginable
curves, beautiful long hair, clear skin, full lips, large eyes, and ridiculously long eyelashes. Whether
the leading female is a human or an animal, they are represented with all of these perfect feminine

If you really think about, think of all the women in these films who don t fit these qualities. The
women that are not so perfect and not so feminine are always seen as the evil villain. In almost
any Disney film where the villain is female she is nowhere near as attractive as the leading

High School Dropouts Has Become A Crisis
High School Dropouts
Education is to be known to be the key to success, but high school dropouts have become a crisis.
To get by in today s world education is a must to become economically and financially secure. A
high school dropout or dropout is to be known as an undergraduate that does not complete schooling
before earning a high school diploma. According to Carolyn L. Carlson, an estimate of 7,000 high
school students drop out daily in America (1). Which is 1.2 million a year, when a student
decides to drop out of school before graduating not only will they be affected but so will society.

Everything for a child starts from in the home when a mother or parents are struggling, so is the
child. When a mother or parents are earning less money due to many responsibilities, it puts the
teen as a student at greater risk of dropping out by having fewer resources and gaining stress that
is carried to school and become very distracting. Furthermore, family structure is one of the most
important factors that causes a student to drop out of school because what happens in the
household reflects a student. Another major reason to cause a student to drop out of school is
school structure. School structure is the way the school is built, arranged and organized that
include resources, curriculum, and communication between both schools and students. When a
school structure is negative it most definitely lessons in student achievement. Gary Natriello
highlights that one compelling associate of dropping out of school done by research is the
lessening in student success (601). If a student is not succeeding in their class work and receiving
bad grades it will lower their motivation to strive. In this case, studies are proven to show that
when students do not do well in school, it affects their confidence and lessens the chances of
continuing to try to get greater grades, to just give up and decide to drop out. Students that
frequently obtain lower grades, do not pass subjects, and that are held back a grade increase

The Threat of Nuclear War Since the Cold War
The Threat of Nuclear War Since the Cold War
I partly agree and disagree with the above statement. Nuclear war was at the height of taking place
in the cold war and whilst it has subsided a little since the end it has not yet completely gone.
Nuclear threat is different now then it was in the Twentieth Century, to prove my views I will talk
about the cold war with reference to nuclear threat and what that means today.
At the end of the Second World War, the world was in devastation, Germany has finally been
defeated and a new superpower emerged: United States of America. To examine the threats of
nuclear war in the cold war I must first look at the causes of the cold war, this would help me ...

For a while, the US was ahead in the nuclear arms race, but not for long the Soviet Hydrogen
bomb was exploded barely a year later. This pattern went on and on and the USA was ahead
most of the time. It was at this time (when all these destructive weapons were being developed)
that the concept of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) came about and many people thought
nuclear weapons were not a threat because of this idea. A population is best protected by leaving
it vulnerable to nuclear attack as long as the opposing side experiences the same level of
vulnerability. So, in other words, whoever shoots first dies second whatever happens. All these
nuclear weapons were owned by powerful countries with precise security measures (though not all
the time) and excellent organization. Also, the kind of threat I am talking about was an event
which could spark off a retaliation which could be nuclear war and human error could also be a
threat and this happened many times throughout the course of the cold war. This is all very
different compared to nuclear threat today.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a breathtaking event and was the closest the world had come to

Bilingual Math Research Paper
Mathematics is one of the most important subjects in academics. Mathematics is important to

Atonement Research Paper
Worship and sin cannot coexist. For example, before the fall, Adam and Eve did not need to
acquire atonement to worship God, but instead lived in the Garden of Eden with Him. The Temple
and Tabernacle were the places where man encountered God, so they served as vital religious
components of Judaism. In addition to atonement, tabernacleand temple, further elements of Old
Testamentworship include scripture, singing, and covenant renewal/remembrance. This essay will
go over Old Testament worship practices and the significance of these practices. Atonement is the
physical ritual conveying a sentiment of repentance. In the Old Testament, atonement was the
method used in order to attain purity and restore relationship with God and the community of
believers through a sacrificial statement. We see this demonstrated in time of the creation and fall,
the patriarchs, the exodus/law/conquest, the kings, and the post exile (Lecture 1, 2016). There are
numerous types of sacrifices that can be found in Leviticus: burnt offering (1:3 17), associated
cereal offerings (2:1 16), peace offerings (3:1 17), sin offering (4:1 5:13) and guilt offering (5:14
6:7) (Peterson, 1993, p.38). The sacrificial system in the Old Testament to atone for unintentionally
and intentionally committed sins and social failures that caused Israelitesto become unclean so that
they can once again join the worshipping community of God (Leviticus 4:20; 5:16 18). These

main symbol that represents me. It symbolizes strength. I did not chose it based on physical
strength, but more on emotionally. It is also on what I can handle through the hardships through
my life. This is important to me because the strength that I use to get on each day is how I carry

Red Sox Case Study
For Price, Red Sox, the price is right
An elite starting pitcher will call Fenway Park his home next season for the first time since Jon
Lester was traded to Oakland at the deadline in 2014. The Red Sox signed 30 year old lefty
David Price to a 7 year, $217 million contract this past Tuesday. Price is one of the top starting
pitchers in baseball. He won the 2012 American League Cy Young award after going 20 5 in the
regular season. Boston won the David Price sweepstakes after months of talk about where he
would land. Besides Boston, it is reported that Price was very interested in signing with either the
Cubs, Cardinals, or the team he played for during part of the 2015 season, the Blue Jays.
Price will undoubtedly improve the Red Sox struggling pitching staff, one that finished the
season with a collective 4.39 earned run average and surrendered 178 home runs, the seventh
most in the MLB. Price finished his 2015 campaign with an 18 5 record and a 2.45 ERA, but his
most astonishing numbers came from the second half of the season after he was traded from the
Detroit Tigers to the Toronto Blue Jays. After the trade he went 9 1 with a 2.30 ERA. Even more
astonishing are his numbers at Fenway Park, something that has Red Sox Nation elated. Over his
career, Price has amounted a 6 1 record with a cool 1.95 ERA at America s most beloved ballpark.

Swot Analysis Of Netflix
Due to the company s high dependence on the cost of content licensing and relationships with
content providers, the company is vulnerable at many levels.
Netflix suffers low profit margins due to the cost of international expansion and currency
fluctuations.
Netflix faces tough competition with companies that broadcast live, unique and free content
through torrents and cable television.
Unlike its competitors Hulu and Amazon, Netflix does not generate income through advertisements.
At an international level, the dependence on laws and regulations of different countries is an
obstacle to the company s potential growth.
Netflix s high dependence on internet connectivity makes it difficult to gain popularity in many
parts of Asia and Africa, where internet connectivity is not well established.
Domestic providers tend to produce or broadcast series that are designed to match the customer s
needs. This can be challenging for Netflix to match.
Its dependence on the regulations and laws of different countries is a hinderance to Netflix s

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study was an unethical prospective study based on the differences between
white and black males that began in the 1930 s. This study involved the mistreatment of black
males and their families in an experimental study of the effects of untreated syphilis. With very
little knowledge of the study or the disease by participants, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study can be

In Macon County, Alabama, about 40% of African Americans had syphilis. Syphilis caused by a
spirochete bacterium that is contracted sexually. In the 1930 s it had relatively no cures or
treatments. Syphilis progresses into three stages, the last of which begins to attack the several
organ systems of the individual. The victim may become paralyzed, blind and/or deaf; develop
heart problems or a mental illness, or other symptoms (Gray 37 38). They decided that they wanted
to compare and contrast how blacks and whites develop the disease and the effects on each race.
Years before the study of the Negro was set to begin, a similar study for whites was conducted in
Oslo, Norway. This study was a retrospective look into the effects of untreated syphilis in whites.
The retrospective study used case histories of those who had syphilis when they died not living
patients. The U.S. Public Health Service decided to use African Americans in Macon County in the
experiment. Originally titled The Effects of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male the
experimentations took place at the Tuskegee Institute which is why the study is generally named
the Tuskegee Syphilis Study (Jones 93 94). The Rosenwald Fund, a foundation that funded many
programs that were used in the betterment of African Americans began funding this project. After
the Stock Market crash of 1929, and the start of the Great Depression, the Rosenwald Fund has to

Aggregate Demand and Supply Paper
Aggregate Demand and Supply Models Economic Critique Ken Drake, ECO 372 Macroeconomics
September 10, 2012 Jason Foster Aggregate Demand and Supply Models Economic Critique In the
United States the economy is currently in a recession, although signs are indicating that the
economy is slowly recovering. In an effort to analyze the Unites States economy the
unemployment rate, expectations, consumer income, and interest rates have been evaluated. The
results of these evaluations are included in this report. Unemployment in the United States fell to
8.1% from 8.3% in July. U.S. employers are said to have added 96,000 jobs in July (KSL News,

Just like looking for a good time to buy into a stock, a person needs to look at several months of
data to find a consistent pattern of troughs and peaks in the supply and demand wave, draw a
line to mark out floor and ceiling, and then buy your stocks as the price climbs and sell before it
reaches the top. Expectation can now be based on past events laid out in a reoccurring pattern.
There is still some guesswork involved however, but not like it was in the past. The downward
spiral of the United States economy can be caused by different factors. For example, record high
gas prices and sub prime mortgage loans are tow key contributors. With the United States gas
prices and unemployment rates at an all time high, it is no secret why consumers naturally
spend less money. Consumers are using more money for their gas tanks just to get to work
everyday, and the though of going on vacation or shopping is just a dream now for most. A
higher price level reduces the purchasing power of the public s accumulated savings account
balances (Aggregate demand and aggregate supply, 2012). A higher price level heavily wears out
the purchasing power of such assets, the general public is much poorer and will automatically
reduce its spending. Sub prime mortgage loans were designed to help people with bad credit
purchase a home when they would not qualify. They were also designed to help people who didn t

business process, a function is defined by author Modell as a series of relative activities,
involving more than one entities, performed for the direct or indirect, purpose of fulfilling one

following characteristics like i.Identifiable ii. Definable in terms of responsibility iii. Definable
in terms of activity iv. Definable in terms of accountability The function also has the freedom to
be any part of the business process, it can be a major control process, it can contain more sub
functions, can be performed in multiple or single area, can be performed by individual or a group
of people and can have dependent or independent activities. A business function has two main
categories based on the level where it s acting business and administrative, support or overhead.
The business category is where the activities which are directly involved in producing the product
or providing services or which generate the revenue to the firm are classified. The operational
functions which come under the business are called as the line functions. Administrative, support

Bedside Handover Using Isbar Frameworks
Bedside handover using ISBAR frameworks has proven in promotion of patient satisfaction,
especially for the patient s safety. However, there are some barriers that were identified in the
effectiveness of bedside handover. These barriers may involve different factors such as
environmental and human.
Thus, this literature review will be focusing on various themes on the effectiveness of bedside
handover using ISBAR, which will then be compared and contrasted; and the most common
barriers to effective bedside handover will be explored.
The question that has been formulated is why is bedside handover with ISBAR considered to be
the safest and most effective form of handover, and what are the common barriers that limit its
execution in the clinical arena?
It has been proven that bedside handover with ISBAR has provided a safety transition and met
patient s satisfaction that gives more opportunity to clarify information (ACSQHC 2012). Although,
bedside handover with ISBAR is strictly implemented, there are difficulties in the application due to
changes in complex social practices of nurses that somehow limits its uptake (ACSQHC 2012, cited
in Jeffcott, Evans Cameron 2009). This literature review sought to study the rationale as to the
effectiveness of bedside handover with ISBAR framework in clinical settings; and to identify the
common barriers to effective communication in bedside handover.
The main themes that will be included are the dyadic relationship between the

don t have to consume from food. You manufacture it when your skin is exposed to the sun. See
how you do on this quick quiz.
True or false:
For healthy bones, vitamin D is as vital as calcium.
Answer: True. Without vitamin D, you cannot absorb calcium.
The latitude you live in can make you deficient in D.
Answer: True. In Canada and the northern U.S., the reduced sunshine in winter months causes the
skin to manufacture little or no D.
Two cups of milk supply the daily requirement for vitamin D.

Thus, the government s new dietary guidelines highlighted recommendations of 1,000 IU a day
for older people and other high risk groups. Some researchers think that levels as high as 2,000 IU a
day should be considered.
Not enough, too much
Vitamin D can be harmful in large doses, probably starting at 2,000 IU a day, which can lead to
kidney stones, kidney failure, and the deterioration of muscle and bone. But a daily intake of 1,000
IU is known to be safe.
We now believe that 800 to 1,000 IU is a good goal for those 70 and older. It s nearly impossible to
get this much without taking a supplement. People living in the northern third of the U.S. and in
Canada, those with dark skin, those who are housebound or institutionalized, and those who
consume no milk or other fortified foods should also consider supplementation.
The chart below lists good food sources of D. Most multivitamin/mineral supplements have 400
IU. That s an economical way to get extra D. If you take calcium, consider a calcium supplement
that contains D. Many brands supply 200 IU along with 300 milligrams of calcium per

How Warfare Techniques Have Changed The Construction Of A...
There are many Warfare methods created for a castle. For instance, there is the Trebuchet, there are
the battlements (Merlins and Embrasures), the catapults, and much more! I ll be telling you how
these warfare techniques have changed the construction of the castles!!
The first thing I will be telling you about is the Trebuchet, A trebuchet is a catapult like engine
which uses a swinging arm to throw a projectile at the enemy. It is used to throw rocks (Boulders),
dead animals and humans, fireballs, and much more things. Trebuchets were apart of the attacking
defending team of the castles. This means that this would cost money because the people in the
castle would need to get supplies. The reason the Trebuchets influenced castle construction is that
when the people of the castle new that the enemies would have the trebuchets they would need to
build higher walls so when things start to fly at the castle they would want to have something that
would block the flying obstacles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They look like mini/small walls that go up and down around all of the castle walls. The reasons
the Merlins and Embrasures are influenced construction is because when there was a war these
would act as little barriers for when archers would shoot, the defenders would duck because they
would not be hit by arrows, boulders, and more. This is why Merlin and Embrasures were
influenced for castle

Why Prejudice Is Wrong
What is prejudice? Prejudice is believing someone else is wrong or right based on one key factor
like skin color, gender, level, etc. Personally I think prejudice is wrong, but a large majority of
the world says otherwise. Prejudice dates back to practically the beginning of time whether it was
when the ancient Romans enslaved millions of people or in the 1700 and 1800 hundreds when
black slaves were traded bought and sold all over America, or 1933 to 1945 during the holocaust.
Many people think that prejudiceand racismare gone but everywhere you turn you can find
something prejudice happening whether it be here or in different countries. In our current society
it is still quite a big deal. For example, all of the black lives matter protests

technology determines society s cultural and social values and beliefs. As a result of this theory,
technology and culture are two distinct factors. However, according to the technology determinism

My Life As A Social Worker
While walking to work I was pondering to my self why I wanted to be a social worker. As a young
man I have always wanted more out of life. I grew up in a small farm town North side of the
border of Mexico. I am the oldest of three children (two sisters). My parents were both working
with the school district, my father a teacher/coach, my mothera social worker. My parents were well
educated and believed in obtaining an education. They taught me school is a great way to
enhance my life. I did well in my early years of my education, but life is the greatest teacher above
all else.
My parents divorced during the first year of high school then my mother became ill with cancer.
My life shifted from son to caregiver, at the early age of fourteen I had to get an emergency
driver license to drive my mother to chemo and everywhere she needed to go. While she was
taking her treatments in a town an hour away I did my homework in the waiting room. I tried to
maintain a high GPA to get in to a good school. It was a tough ordeal and heart wrenching
challenge that shook me to my core. I was there for her and helped clean our house and I drove
my sisters to school when my mother couldn t. At school I dove into books and I spent most of
my time in the library.Unfortunately she couldn t make it, my mother fought hard for a year and a

Similarities Between Tunisia And Egypt
Five years after the arab revolutions began, we can observe many differences as well as similarities
between Tunisia and Egypt. Tunisia was the first country that started the revolts, and since then has
had many successes, including the adoption of a constitution. Despite many of the setbacks,
interruptions, and serious crises Tunisia has been through these past few years, as long as they do
not have any more upheavals of power, the evidence seems to prove they can transform their
governmentinto a more stable democracy. In contrast, Egyptalso attempted to become democratic,
but soon after reverted back to an authoritarian and oppressive regime that has become increasingly
more militaristic, and at the moment it seems that a new attempt of becoming democratic is
unlikely to start unless people decide on gathering again and participating in other uprisings. In
order to understand why these two countries moved in such opposite directions, the causes of the

begin, the author Larry Diamond described democracy as a universal institution among all cultures.
Diamond believed democracy was not just a Western ideal, but in fact could be implemented into
every culture in the world under the correct circumstances. One of the most important
circumstances needed to be in place in order for democracy to thrive is the spirit of democracy,

Imagery And Imagery Of Shakespeare s Hamlet
Shakespeare s Hamlet uses imagery as a means to develop the ideas that grow out of the
representation of a thought. Shakespeare uses imagery as vivid or figurative language to represent
objects, actions and ideas. The imagery of disease, poison and decay is used throughout the play
by Shakespeare for a purpose. The descriptions are of disease, poison and decay to help us
understand the bitter relationships between the characters that exist in the play and Hamlets own
cynicism. We see Hamlet s soliloquy when he contemplates suicide. The resentful nature that exists
between Polonius and Hamlet is heightened with the use of imagery. The imagery enhances
Claudius hate of Hamlet. Shakespeare uses imagery in this play to deepen our understanding of the
emotions experienced by Hamlet.
The imagery of decay is used to help us understand the depression Hamlet felt in his first soliloquy
about suicide. O that this too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew, Hamlet
is communicating his wishes not to exist in this world anymore. He wants to die and be come part
of the earth. An image of Hamlet s flesh, rotting, combining with nature is produced. At this
moment we can grasp the intensity of Hamlet s true emotions. We can feel his pain and his
yearning for his death. Hamlet continues to say, How weary, stale, fat, and unprofitable/ Seem to

Dynamic Characters In The Winter s Tale
In order to grow and learn, one must be dynamic and not static. The definition of a character
being dynamic is when a person undergoes an important inner change in their personality and/or
attitude. Static character is the opposite of dynamic; static characters are defined in such a way
that the character does not show any changes from the beginning of the story to the end of the
story. In Shakespeare s play, The Winter s Tale, there are a couple of characters that are dynamic,
but there are also some characters that are static. Dynamic characters are those who either learn

These type of characters do not change as much or even at all throughout the story. Also, these
static characters are mostly never the main character and they can be viewed as either good or

they have when the story comes to an end. In addition, all of their actions in between the story
stays true to their personality. An example of a static character would be the Joker because at
the beginning of the movie, the Joker is look upon as a homicidal, psychotical maniac. When it
comes to an end, the Joker is still a homicidal maniac, which is different from Batman who is
dynamic, because he never changed his personality throughout everything that he had to endure.
Another character who is static would have to be Scar from The Lion King. Scar is a static
character because at the beginning of the movie he is an evil and vile character who lives in the

Essay on War and Peace and Tolstoy s View of History
War and Peace and Tolstoy s View of History
Count Lev Tolstoy wrote abundantly on the philosophical issues that he felt were universally
important. One of the most prolific examples of this is his view of history. This is set out most
clearly and most famously in his largest work, War and Peace. As Tolstoy claimed himself in a
public statement on the work, War and Peace is what the author wanted and was able to express in
that form in which it was expressed. Not only do the themes and incidents in the novel reflect his
theory of history, Tolstoy iterates this in less narrative terms in the twelve chapters of the Second

As Tolstoy said, What I have expressed in the epilogue of the novel, without quotations and
references, is not the momentary fancy of my mind but the inevitable conclusions of seven years of
work, which I had to do.
The Second Epilogue can be split up into three sections1, in section one, comprising chapters 1 to
3, Tolstoy reviews various schools of historiography, in section two, comprising chapters 4 to 7, he
deals with the question of nature and power and what determines the movements of peoples, in
section three, comprising chapters 8 to 12, he discusses the problem of free will.
The first section has been widely disregarded as a limited and anachronistic description of modern
historiography and the logocentric reliance on the presumption that what he feels is important, is
important for self evident reasons. It is often argued that Tolstoy gives an artificial impression of
historians, criticising them for things he is wrong in thinking they have claimed. But what is
important is that through doing this, Tolstoy establishes what is important for him, for his view of
history. He states that in order to explain the movements of people, there

The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints Essay
Individuals who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are taught gender
is an essential characteristic of an individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.
(The Family Proclamation to the World) American society teaches through media, that males are to
be aggressive, and females are to be submissive. Society teaches individuals to stuff males and
females into confining and suppressive boxes, where males are meant to be domineering and
females are sexual objects and marriageis disposable. It s such a stark contrast the difference
between how those of the faithful LDS families are raised when compared to those who have
been integrated into the beliefs of society. Children who are raised to view society as the correct
way, are taken into a highly stereotypical, and deceptive world.
American society views the acceptable man as being controlling and domineering, whereas the
acceptable and desirable woman s purpose is to cater to the man, physically and sexually. Females
are nearly always stripped down (often literally) to what lies at their core, their essential, biological
womanliness, their essential subordinate position to man. (Byerly, Carolyn, Ross 26) When women
are portrayed in such a way, individuals begin to be dissatisfied with themselves, as well as with the
ones they are intimate with, comparing them to the impossible standards of society. While
attempting to appease the opposite sex, then they aren t being true to their

of my internship, I have also become more familiar with office procedures including:

However, another instructor told her that would be a good idea if ladies had been allowed the same
privileges as men (6). Calkins formally dismissed going to Germany when she received a letter from
a woman student attending the University of Gottingen which stated, I wish I might encourage
you; but past experience has proved to me the utter uselessness of trying to enlighten the authorities,
at least, in our generation.
Once Calkins started looking at the United States, she discovered that the University of
Michigan, where she would be studying under John Dewey, and Yale, where she would be
studying under G.T. Ladd, were promising. However, she received a letter from another woman
student that dissuaded her. The letter stated, Personally, I should be immensely glad if you would
come. We might be able to get some delightful work together...By the way Prof. Ladd thinks you
ought to have some lady with you at the lectures. If there were only one or two other girls who
would come to join us, we

How Did The American Revolution Affect Both The Common Man...

The Common Man and Colonial Elite in The American Revolution
The American Revolution was an uprising taking place in the late 1700s where the thirteen British
colonies rebelled and overthrew British authority to create the United States of America. The
American Revolution took place through the leadership of the colonial elite and founding fathers.
There are many interpretations of why the American Revolution took place including that of
Howard Zinn who thought the founding fathers/ colonial elite encouraged the colonists to revolt
because they wanted to take the place and power of the King/ Parliament rather than revolting
because they believed in the social revolution. Zinn s thesis is incorrect ;due to the systematic ...

The stamp act affected both the common man and colonial elite economically, leading to the
union of both classes in protest of the act. Very heavy taxes on all estates, real and personal; a
poll tax; a tax on all offices, professions, trades, and businesses, according to their profits; an
excise on all wine ,rum, and other spirit; and a duty of ten pounds per head on all Negroes
imported, with some other duties in order to support the civil and military establishments of the
country, and to discharge the heavy debt contracted in the last [Seven Years ] war , had been
present in the colonies prior to the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a law that required colonist to
pay a tax on almost any printed paper including playing card, pamphlets, and legal documents.
When Benjamin Franklin, a member of the colonial elite, was questioned about the colonists ability
to pay these taxes, he answered no , and continued

Music Plays A Influence On My Life
Music plays a tremendous role in my life and always has. From the age of five, my parents
introduced to me to one particular type of music, which was gospel and it has been a part of who
I am ever since. I can remember waking up early on Sunday morning hearing gospel music from
artist such as Kim Burrell, Shirley Caesar, and Mary Mary. I began learning these particular gospel
songs and then I gained the courage to sing these songs in church. At that moment, I knew singing
was a passion of mine and musicbecame food to my soul. I would have to say the moment in my
life where I strongly became influenced by music was as a child between the ages of five and
twelve.
Then when I entered middle school, I joined the school band. I played two instruments, the
trombone and trumpet. Although I truly enjoyed playing those two instruments, I ve always
dreamed of playing the piano or violin but I never gained the opportunity to receive lessons. During
the seventh grade, I joined the Needwood Middle School Choir. We sung gospel music and
Christmas music during the holiday season. With gaining so much musical experience during my
time in Middle School, my church appointed me to Youth Choir Director for Salem St. John Baptist
Church.
Overall, I prefer Gospel music for so many different reasons. One of the reasons I prefer to listen
to Gospel music is because of the messages behind this type of music. God comes first and he
truly is the head of my life. As a Christian, by me listening to

How To Make Dr Jekyll Smoothie
For my upcoming project I plan to construct a tasteful smoothie that is blended with several of
ingredients that are high in protein and contain many nutrients. The reason I chose to do a
smoothie as my project is because I personally identify the potion from the story The Strange
Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to resemble closely to what I am trying to make in such a way
that allows myself to recreate what Dr. Jekyll has. The potion in the story is such a critical aspect
as it affect how Dr. Jekyll is able to interchange between personas back and forth. This to me was
distinguishable the most in the story as it was a combination between the horror and science fiction
genre which drew my attention. In the text there is a specific quote

Sickle Cell Anemia ( Sca )
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited blood disease which causes normal, round, healthy red
blood cells to transform into sickle shaped cells. Normal red blood cells are flexible and can easily
pass through capillaries to bring oxygen to different parts of the body. However, sickle cells are
fragile, and can easily die, leading to anemia (red blood celldeficiency). SCA can also cause blood
vessel occlusion (blockage of blood vessels), tissue infarctions (death due to lack of oxygen),
bone, joint, and abdominal pain, yellow eyes and skin, pale skin, delayed growth, increased risk
of infections, and damage to organs. The disease is passed on by autosomal recessive
inheritance, which means both parents of a child must have the defective gene for the child to
be affected. If only one gene is inherited, the victim becomes a carrier of the sickle cell trait,
producing only some sickle cells with little or no symptoms. This means two people with the trait
have a 25% chance of having a baby with sickle cell disease, 25% chance of them having no
defects, and 50% chance of the baby becoming a carrier as well. When the gene is inherited, it
mutates the beta (ОІ) globin gene in chromosome 11, changing the hemoglobins produced using
instructions from the gene from a healthy hemoglobin A (Hb A) to a mutated hemoglobin S (Hb
S). Many tests can be done to check for sickle cell disease, the most common being an ordinary
blood test, where the blood is examined for hemoglobin S. If the

Why Is Mahatma Gandhi Unjustified
You must be the change you wish to see in the world Mahatma Gandhi (source from Mahatma
Gandhi Quotes. ). Many assassinations occur due to political, religious, and cultural reasons.
Some assassinations occur without explanation, or with explanations that sound illogical or
ridiculous. On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was shot three times by his assassin,
Nathuram Godse. Gandhi was a man who only wanted what was best for his fellow Indians, and
his love for his country and its people were what motivated him to do what he did. He was the
leading figure responsible for India achieving independence, and he wanted to see a free and
united country. Some may argue that he was not a good politician however, having to put
politics within every view can sometimes be too much, which can cause arguments, leading to
chaos. The first reason why Gandhi s death was unjustified was because Gandhi wanted only
what was best for for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and its people were what
motivated him to do what he did. An example of him wanting what was best for his fellow
Indians is Gandhi leading several campaigns in which he intended to make public of what
unfortunate situation Indians were in inside their Country. This include the protest against the
South African government s refusal to allow for Indians to vote. He was significant to the the
founding of the Natal Indian Congress in 1894. This is an organization that became center in
1894 and helped political resistance develop over a seven year period which began in 1906 (All
stated in the article, Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India. ). Another example
was that in future years, is in 1913, Gandhi negotiated with colonial laborers with Jan Smuts.
Smuts was an Afrikaner (Afrikaans speaking person in South Africa, especially one descended
from the Dutch and Huguenot settlers of the 17th century) and a racist who later became colonial
secretary after the Boer War. The final decision between the two managed to gain Indians rights by
a little (All stated in the article, The Problem with Purity. ) The second reason why Gandhi s death
was unjustified because he was the leading figure responsible for gaining India s

Cognitive Processing Therapy For Post Traumatic Stress...
Evidence based practices have been gaining a lot importance recently and it was so interesting to
search the online libraries to actually see how many exist. It was stimulating to go onto the
National Registry of Evidence based Programs and Practices websites and be in awe of
abundance of programs. There were programs for almost every type of social work practice.
While looking through the different databases in regards to evidence based practice (EBP), one
in particular really caught my attention. The particular EBP that will be discussed is known as
Cognitive Processing Therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I chose this specific
one because I have a great interest in therapies with those suffering from PTSD. As stated by the
name of this particular EBP, the focus is on cognitionin those with PTSD. Cognitive Processing
Therapy (CPT) is a form of the well known cognitive behavioral therapy. For this particular
therapy, the clients taking part are older adolescents and adults (18 55+) who have a PTSD
diagnosis (SAMHSA, 2014). The preliminary focus on CPT is to look at the distorted thoughts
about the trauma experienced by the client. Beliefs such as self blame and denial are initial
conative focus, then therapy moves on to looking at the clients how the clients think themselves,
others, and the world (Resick, Nishith, Weaver, Astin, Feuer, 2002). Clients who are undergoing
this therapy use of worksheets and what is known as Socratic questioning (Resick,

How To Make A Hand Leverr Essay
Only when the hand lever is all the way forward can the car be placed into second gear. The
procedure for getting into second gear is to first start moving forward in first gear. Make sure
the hand lever is halfway forward, speed the engine up a bit and slowly but firmly press the
clutch pedal down. The car will start moving forward and as it does, increase the engine speed to
a good clip and then bring the clutch pedal halfway back into the neutral position. You will
notice that the engine will race a bit so push the throttle forward and slow the engine down. Now
with the clutch pedal halfway out, release the hand lever and push it all the way forward. Slowly
let the clutch pedal all the way out and now you are in second gear. Pull the throttle lever back and
as the engine speeds up so will your car.

off. You still have complete control. You will learn very quickly that the steering is much easier
when the car is moving and unlike a modern car, you don t have to turn the wheels before you
start to pull out of a tight spot because you will find that the T makes a much quicker turn because
of it s short body length. Some Model Ts on rare occasions when you go into a slow turn, will start
a shimmy or front wheel wobble. It is not anything to be afraid or but can be a bit of a shock the
first time you experience it. Just slow down sometimes almost to a stop and it will go away, then
proceed as normal. If it occurs often and persistent, then the front end of the T needs to checked for

Barbie Doll Is Bad For Girls
The infamous Barbie doll is still considered to be the most popular toy for girls (and not only for
them). However, the image that the doll itself spreads, is harmful for the girls worldwide,
considering the false body expectations it represents and the portrait of the girls as being
unintelligent. Both of the cases I will explain below. First of all, Barbie doll represent an
unrealistic body type and a rigid beauty ideal that studies show can be harmful to girls. This is
dangerous, when considered that from the young age girls play with the doll and want to be like
Barbie. It is not possible to look like the doll and be healthy at the same time. Also, the looks
which Barbie represent are suggestive. Blond hair, pretty face and unreal body curves may suggest
young girls that this is what girls are supposed to look like.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

* Summarize three primary reasons that turn is so high in this is industry.
1. One reason for the high turnover rate of hospitality staff is the fact that many hospitality jobs do
not pay well. Personnel usually begin at a lowest wage rate or below which does not fascinate top
eminence long term employees because these employees are always looking for a better paying
position. Situations that pay below tiniest net depend entirely on customer satisfaction and
liberality. Tips . Around the world, the average beginning wait staff personnel is paid $2.15 per
hour by their employer. The rest of their revenue is based pay on the urge of their customers.
Monetary turn downs mean fewer consumers, which in turn shrinkage is wage potential. Add this
to the fact that many hospitality positions are seasonal and it is not hard to see why hospitality staff
turnover can reach high rates quickly.
2. The second reason for high rates of hospitality staff turnover include deficiency of plentiful
doles such as company provided health insurance, retirement benefits, vacation pay, sick leave,
additional schooling or exercise programs and other peripheral benefits which are so often perks
of other industries. Since the labor pool for a large portion of hospitality jobs is so poor and
turnover is so high, a majority of hospitality companies are unwilling to capitalize in programs
which would

Cats in Ancient Egypt
When one imagines Ancient Egypt, the images of sand, mummies, and pyramids usually come to
mind. Modern times portray cats as a lovable, furry household animal. Did the thought of the two
intertwining ever occur? By examining the goddess Bast, tombs where cat mummies reside, and
the process of mummifying cats, one can better understand the true significance of the gentle
creature in the days of the Ancient Egyptian. Ancient Egyptians worshipped gods and goddesses
frequently. They seemed to posses one for any concept or thing imaginable. People think of Bast
as one of the most popular goddesses of her time and generally remember her as a cat goddess. She
wore the head of a lion or wildcat in the beginning and possessed the predatory... Show more

The Egyptians viewed statuettes as symbols of religion with great importance and history. Tombs
of Egyptians and cat cemeteries along the Nile River held many cat mummies. Thebes housed
many important cat tombs. In mountains to the west of the Nile River, the Theban tombs resided.
Thebes had 4 main burial cites that heavily depicted cats. The Bible referred to Thebes as the City
of Amun, which showed that the city majorly impacted the people. Over the course of history, the
first cat name to ever appear occurred in an 11th dynasty tomb. At the feet of a statue of the King
of Hana, a title of Babylonia, overbearingly sat a cat with the name of Bouhaki. The name means
something similar to divine healer of the home. The 18th dynasty emerged as one of the first
dynasties to show the tomb walls of the nobles to depict scenes from everyday life. Pharaohs tomb
walls tend to focus more on religious scenes. As a result, historians understand more about the day
to day activities of Ancient Egyptians through the nobles. Because of the numerous representations
of felines on the tomb walls, one can infer they played an essential role in an Egyptian s life. One
specific tomb wall painting proposes that cats hunted with humans, much like hound dogs, and
humans kept them as pets. The loving function they assumed could possibly attribute to how
popular the Egyptians found Bast. Archaeologists

Persuasive Essay On Becoming A Knight
A knight is a man who served his sovereign or lord as a mounted soldier in armor. They were well
trained fighters, knights were military retainers, often of humble means, but defined by their
military vocation and their ability rather than any lineages ( Richard). They surfaced in the Middle
Ages because it was a time when Lords needed protections along with their territories. To become a
knightwas not easy there were many steps towards fulfilling knighthood. Not only did it take years
of training to become a knight, but it also took bravery, courtesy, and honor known as chivalry and
courtly love. A man without those qualities did not have what it takes to play this role. Knights of
the Middle Ageswere first and premier warriors who fought from horseback, wore body covering
armor, and used weapons such as swords and daggers to fight and protect in battle. There were
five steps to knighthood, becoming a knight took years of training, during which a young man
learned how to fight, ride, and behave in proper, knightley manner (Corrick 29). The first step to
becoming a knight was having the right connections because it was very expensive to buy all the
equipment necessary in protecting himself on the battlefield. That being said a knight usually
came from a noble or wealthy family. The upbringing is the second step, if a boy came from the
right family and had the ambition to be a knight by the age of seven he would have to learn all
basic manners and what the role of a

The File Transfer Protocol And Server Protocol
The File Transfer Protocol, or FTP, is a client/server protocol that allows users to transfer various
types of data between hosts and servers through the TCP/IP network. FTP was originated in
1971, when MIT engineers and other academic institutions were looking for an efficient method
of file transfer, and is one of the oldest protocols that is still in use. Though it has evolved over
the years, it mainly was used in corporate area networks; utilizing the largest network that
currently exists in the world today, the internet. Even if, as a user, you are not familiar with or do
not know how FTP works, the chance that you have participated in an FTP function is quite large.

For active mode, a connection is used to transmit FTP commands from a port higher than 1024
of the client to port 21 of the server. In the stable connection, the port used by the client for
receiving data transferred to the server, and the server opens port 20 to perform the transfer
requested by the client. Although the active mode is the native mode used by FTP, problems do
occur when the server opens a connection to the client, and the clients protected behind a
firewall which could potentially cut the connection off. The other mode used for connections is
passive mode. In passive mode, it s the client that starts all the links, and the problem of the
firewall from active modes pass from the client to the server, which solves the limitation of the
number of ports accessible for this mode of connection. Furthermore, to the connection types,
there are also two kinds of execution methods to how FTP is reputable. Standalone mode, which
runs as a system process independently, and is always active and waiting for requests, which is
the recommended method for establishing an FTP connection. The other execution mode is
supervisor mode, where the FTP server process is executed as a child process and must start each
time a new connection is complete. FTP constructed on the client server architecture, so in addition
to FTP servers, there are also FTP clients. An FTP client is a program on a computer that initiates

Essay on Equality and Justice for All in Canada
Today, Canada is known around the world as a cultural mosaic. As a nation it welcomes people of
both sexes with all different beliefs, cultures, and religions. Creating a mature nation would require
promoting equality of opportunity to all and giving help to those who were disadvantaged.
However, Canada has not always been a welcoming and mature nation. In the past, women were
not allowed to vote alongside men or run for political positions, due to the fact that they were not
considered persons . As well, Aboriginal children were stipped from their homes, families, and
identities so that they could assimilate all First Nationspeople. During the last century, women have

Politics) She was a monumental figure for all Canadian women to realize that had the same say as
men do and can be leaders if they desire to do so.
Women being able to vote was a huge step forward for Canadian women, but even though they
could run for certain political positions, they could not be Senators. During the early twentieth
century women were not legally considered persons and could not be Senators (Women become
Persons). This act of exclusion portrayed Canada as an immature nation. A milestone with
significant importance occurred in the Persons Case. The first constitution of Canada was the
BNA Act (British North America Act). In this constitution it referred to a group of people as
persons but when one individual was referenced they used the word he . The constitution
restricted women from holding public office. (History Canadian resources book) The act declared
that women are persons in matters of pain and penalties, but are not persons in matters of rights
and privileges. Therefore, women could be given the same penalties as men for breaking a law, but
could not receive the same basic benefits that men could. Unfair legalities like this proves that

Music Therapy Interview Music therapy is one of several approaches individuals can utilize to improve or maintain their mental condition and treat various underlying health conditions in a holistic manner. It is a modality that utilizes many allied health professions. Music therapists have found the use of music during therapy improves patients ability to maintain and improve their daily routines, cognitive abilities, sensory motor skills, social skills, confidence, and overall perspective. The purpose of this interview was to obtain information from a program that has been already implemented in an acute healthcare facility and get insight information on the challenges and resistance faced from patients or other healthcare personnel. The Nurse gave an overview of the program in place currently at the hospital. The goal and purpose of the program is to offer patients with a holistic approach to treating their sickness or underlying problem, with a focus on their overall physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The program director explained that patients are offered the option to have different holistic interventions in place at the time in which they are admitted to the hospital and the medical record is being registered. With the interventions that are offered at the hospital, music therapy is the main one chosen by the patients. The rational for this is that patients feel comfortable with this intervention because of the already known impact music has on their normal daily life. After the patient has opted for these holistic interventions, the patient s admitting doctor has to approve those requests. This is the doctors acknowledging the patient s wishes and write an order to have those intervention started for that particular patient. With all this in place the patient receives his therapy at times that fit into his plan of care. This therapy is worked into his patient plan of care while at the facility in the same way that physical therapy is set for the patient. The same importance is given to a music therapy appointment as would be given to any other appointment. The program coordinator stated that much resistance was found from healthcare personals that were involved in the direct care of several patients that requested ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance of Jack s Character in Golding s Novel Lord Of The Flies Golding s novel Lord of the Flies follows the story of a group of boys stranded on an isolated desert island. There is no figure of authority on the island and as their delicate sense of order fades, their behaviour stats to take on a more savage significance. At the beginning of the novel, Jack is the most obvious leader. The reader is introduced to Jack near the end of the first chapter, as he leads the choir to the meeting. Jack is described as the boy who controlled them before Golding even tells the reader his name. The word controlled hints that Jack is a dictator, as is shown later in the novel. The first ... Ralph and Jack are very similar, and can be contrasted because they are both natural leaders. In a way, Ralph and Jack are the same person, but both have different priorities, and different leadership styles. Ralph is democratic and selfless, associated with order and control and tries to be fair. Jack, however, is a dictator, with a selfish leadership style, his priorities being only himself and hunting. Jack demands respect, whereas Ralph earns it. The point of this is to show that although two people may have the same qualities, the choices made by the people make a difference; it shows how the same person can turn out just because one chooses savagery and one chooses order and democracy. Ralph and Jack show the two kinds of mankind good and evil. Jack is the only boy whose last name we learn. This is because the choir call him Merridew which shows that even at this point in the novel, Jack has authority and power. The fact that the choir use his last name is quite militaristic, but also is a way of Jack denying his identity and trying to make himself more powerful than he is. It is as though Jack does not want to be seen as a child, but as a figure of authority. This is also shown when Jack assumes he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And how they would perceive new projects of reef building in the Red Sea in Eilat Israel. Coral deaths and bleaching are caused mostly by people who just wish to admire the reefs in their natural state. With no destructive intentions. The outcome of the study shows us that the artificial reefs were well looked upon by the divers due to experience they had while diving on the artificial compared to the natural reefs around them. An apparent solution to the fight between the economic battle and the ecological threats is building artificial reefs right next to natural reefs to divert divers away from the natural ones. Artificial reefs made up of large vehicles underwater is sure to draw attention and damage away from the natural reef. This has extreme benefits to ocean conservation and ecotourism. • 9. Chronic Insomnia brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249). Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity (Mehta,2008). This attributes to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive thoughts and emotions but at the nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a neurobiological state of chronic insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major depression disorder and anxiety disorders that both factor into disturbed sleep (health.com). Every Disney princess has a tiny waist, yet unimaginable curves, beautiful long hair, clear skin, full lips, large eyes, and ridiculously long eyelashes. Whether the leading female is a human or an animal, they are represented with all of these perfect feminine traits. If you really think about, think of all the women in these films who don t fit these qualities. The women that are not so perfect and not so feminine are always seen as the evil villain. To get by in today s world education is a must to become economically and financially secure. A high school dropout or dropout is to be known as an undergraduate that does not complete schooling before earning a high school diploma. According to Carolyn L. Carlson, an estimate of 7,000 high school students drop out daily in America (1). Everything for a child starts from in the home when a mother or parents are struggling, so is the child. When a mother or parents are earning less money due to many responsibilities, it puts the teen as a student at greater risk of dropping out by having fewer resources and gaining stress that is carried to school and become very distracting. Furthermore, family structure is one of the most important factors that causes a student to drop out of school because what happens in the household reflects a student. Another major reason to cause a student to drop out of school is school structure. School structure is the way the school is built, arranged and organized that include resources, curriculum, and communication between both schools and students. When a school structure is negative it most definitely lessons in student achievement. Gary Natriello highlights that one compelling associate of dropping out of school done by research is the lessening in student success (601). If a student is not succeeding in their class work and receiving bad grades it will lower their motivation to strive. In this case, studies are proven to show that when students do not do well in school, it affects their confidence and lessens the chances of continuing to try to get greater grades, to just give up and decide to drop out. Students that frequently obtain lower grades, do not pass subjects, and that are held back a grade increase likelihood of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nuclear war was at the height of taking place in the cold war and whilst it has subsided a little since the end it has not yet completely gone. Nuclear threat is different now then it was in the Twentieth Century, to prove my views I will talk about the cold war with reference to nuclear threat and what that means today. For a while, the US was ahead in the nuclear arms race, but not for long the Soviet Hydrogen bomb was exploded barely a year later. This pattern went on and on and the USA was ahead most of the time. It was at this time (when all these destructive weapons were being developed) that the concept of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) came about and many people thought nuclear weapons were not a threat because of this idea. A population is best protected by leaving it vulnerable to nuclear attack as long as the opposing side experiences the same level of vulnerability. So, in other words, whoever shoots first dies second whatever happens. All these nuclear weapons were owned by powerful countries with precise security measures (though not all the time) and excellent organization. Also, the kind of threat I am talking about was an event which could spark off a retaliation which could be nuclear war and human error could also be a threat and this happened many times throughout the course of the cold war. This is all very different compared to nuclear threat today. The Cuban Missile Crisis was a breathtaking event and was the closest the world had come to annihilation and was the cause of extra measures put forward by the both governments involved. But learning mathematics is not an easy task for many students. Especially for those student who also need to overcome the language barrier. These articles explained a little bit about the study of bilingual mathematics education, including bilingual language competence in learning mathematics. • 14. Atonement Research Paper Worship and sin cannot coexist. For example, before the fall, Adam and Eve did not need to acquire atonement to worship God, but instead lived in the Garden of Eden with Him. The Temple and Tabernacle were the places where man encountered God, so they served as vital religious components of Judaism. In addition to atonement, tabernacleand temple, further elements of Old Testamentworship include scripture, singing, and covenant renewal/remembrance. This essay will go over Old Testament worship practices and the significance of these practices. Atonement is the physical ritual conveying a sentiment of repentance. In the Old Testament, atonement was the method used in order to attain purity and restore relationship with God and the community of believers through a sacrificial statement. We see this demonstrated in time of the creation and fall, the patriarchs, the exodus/law/conquest, the kings, and the post exile (Lecture 1, 2016). There are numerous types of sacrifices that can be found in Leviticus: burnt offering (1:3 17), associated cereal offerings (2:1 16), peace offerings (3:1 17), sin offering (4:1 5:13) and guilt offering (5:14 6:7) (Peterson, 1993, p.38). The sacrificial system in the Old Testament to atone for unintentionally and intentionally committed sins and social failures that caused Israelitesto become unclean so that they can once again join the worshipping community of God (Leviticus 4:20; 5:16 18). These sacrifices acted in some cases as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I found myself keep rewinding back to get all of the exact detail, and everything that was said every few seconds. My procedure for this was to listen through the whole interview one time to see the tempo of how the interviewee was talking. I wanted to get used to the sound of his voice and the dialect he talked with. The second time I listened I would type as much as I could for one question I asked, and then go back to see what I missed, and keep doing this. Expectation can now be based on past events laid out in a reoccurring pattern. There is still some guesswork involved however, but not like it was in the past. The downward spiral of the United States economy can be caused by different factors. For example, record high gas prices and sub prime mortgage loans are tow key contributors. Consumers are using more money for their gas tanks just to get to work everyday, and the though of going on vacation or shopping is just a dream now for most. Despite many of the setbacks, interruptions, and serious crises Tunisia has been through these past few years, as long as they do not have any more upheavals of power, the evidence seems to prove they can transform their governmentinto a more stable democracy. In contrast, Egyptalso attempted to become democratic, but soon after reverted back to an authoritarian and oppressive regime that has become increasingly more militaristic, and at the moment it seems that a new attempt of becoming democratic is unlikely to start unless people decide on gathering again and participating in other uprisings. In order to understand why these two countries moved in such opposite directions, the causes of the riots, external pressures, religious influences, civil rights political liberties and current problems. To begin, the author Larry Diamond described democracy as a universal institution among all cultures. Diamond believed democracy was not just a Western ideal, but in fact could be implemented into every culture in the world under the correct circumstances. One of the most important circumstances needed to be in place in order for democracy to thrive is the spirit of democracy, essentially stating that the will of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare uses imagery as vivid or figurative language to represent objects, actions and ideas. The imagery of disease, poison and decay is used throughout the play by Shakespeare for a purpose. The descriptions are of disease, poison and decay to help us understand the bitter relationships between the characters that exist in the play and Hamlets own cynicism. We see Hamlet s soliloquy when he contemplates suicide. The resentful nature that exists between Polonius and Hamlet is heightened with the use of imagery. The imagery enhances Claudius hate of Hamlet. Shakespeare uses imagery in this play to deepen our understanding of the emotions experienced by Hamlet. The imagery of decay is used to help us understand the depression Hamlet felt in his first soliloquy about suicide. O that this too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew, Hamlet is communicating his wishes not to exist in this world anymore. He wants to die and be come part of the earth. An image of Hamlet s flesh, rotting, combining with nature is produced. At this moment we can grasp the intensity of Hamlet s true emotions. We can feel his pain and his yearning for his death. • 36. Dynamic Characters In The Winter s Tale In order to grow and learn, one must be dynamic and not static. The definition of a character being dynamic is when a person undergoes an important inner change in their personality and/or attitude. Static character is the opposite of dynamic; static characters are defined in such a way that the character does not show any changes from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. In Shakespeare s play, The Winter s Tale, there are a couple of characters that are dynamic, but there are also some characters that are static. In addition, all of their actions in between the story stays true to their personality. An example of a static character would be the Joker because at the beginning of the movie, the Joker is look upon as a homicidal, psychotical maniac. When it comes to an end, the Joker is still a homicidal maniac, which is different from Batman who is dynamic, because he never changed his personality throughout everything that he had to endure. Essay on War and Peace and Tolstoy s View of History War and Peace and Tolstoy s View of History Count Lev Tolstoy wrote abundantly on the philosophical issues that he felt were universally important. One of the most prolific examples of this is his view of history. This is set out most clearly and most famously in his largest work, War and Peace. As Tolstoy claimed himself in a public statement on the work, War and Peace is what the author wanted and was able to express in that form in which it was expressed. Not only do the themes and incidents in the novel reflect his theory of history, Tolstoy iterates this in less narrative terms in the twelve chapters of the Second Epilogue, described as, A general discussion on the historians study of human life, and on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Tolstoy said, What I have expressed in the epilogue of the novel, without quotations and references, is not the momentary fancy of my mind but the inevitable conclusions of seven years of work, which I had to do. The Second Epilogue can be split up into three sections1, in section one, comprising chapters 1 to 3, Tolstoy reviews various schools of historiography, in section two, comprising chapters 4 to 7, he deals with the question of nature and power and what determines the movements of peoples, in section three, comprising chapters 8 to 12, he discusses the problem of free will. The first section has been widely disregarded as a limited and anachronistic description of modern historiography and the logocentric reliance on the presumption that what he feels is important, is important for self evident reasons. It is often argued that Tolstoy gives an artificial impression of historians, criticising them for things he is wrong in thinking they have claimed. But what is important is that through doing this, Tolstoy establishes what is important for him, for his view of history. He states that in order to explain the movements of people, there ... The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints Essay Individuals who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are taught gender is an essential characteristic of an individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose. (The Family Proclamation to the World) American society teaches through media, that males are to be aggressive, and females are to be submissive. Society teaches individuals to stuff males and females into confining and suppressive boxes, where males are meant to be domineering and females are sexual objects and marriageis disposable. It s such a stark contrast the difference between how those of the faithful LDS families are raised when compared to those who have been integrated into the beliefs of society. Children who are raised to view society as the correct way, are taken into a highly stereotypical, and deceptive world. American society views the acceptable man as being controlling and domineering, whereas the acceptable and desirable woman s purpose is to cater to the man, physically and sexually. Females are nearly always stripped down (often literally) to what lies at their core, their essential, biological womanliness, their essential subordinate position to man. (Byerly, Carolyn, Ross 26) When women are portrayed in such a way, individuals begin to be dissatisfied with themselves, as well as with the ones they are intimate with, comparing them to the impossible standards of society. I began learning these particular gospel songs and then I gained the courage to sing these songs in church. At that moment, I knew singing was a passion of mine and musicbecame food to my soul. • 45. Sickle Cell Anemia ( Sca ) Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited blood disease which causes normal, round, healthy red blood cells to transform into sickle shaped cells. Normal red blood cells are flexible and can easily pass through capillaries to bring oxygen to different parts of the body. However, sickle cells are fragile, and can easily die, leading to anemia (red blood celldeficiency). SCA can also cause blood vessel occlusion (blockage of blood vessels), tissue infarctions (death due to lack of oxygen), bone, joint, and abdominal pain, yellow eyes and skin, pale skin, delayed growth, increased risk of infections, and damage to organs. The disease is passed on by autosomal recessive inheritance, which means both parents of a child must have the defective gene for the child to be affected. If only one gene is inherited, the victim becomes a carrier of the sickle cell trait, producing only some sickle cells with little or no symptoms. This means two people with the trait have a 25% chance of having a baby with sickle cell disease, 25% chance of them having no defects, and 50% chance of the baby becoming a carrier as well. When the gene is inherited, it mutates the beta (ОІ) globin gene in chromosome 11, changing the hemoglobins produced using instructions from the gene from a healthy hemoglobin A (Hb A) to a mutated hemoglobin S (Hb S). Many tests can be done to check for sickle cell disease, the most common being an ordinary blood test, where the blood is examined for hemoglobin S. If the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many assassinations occur due to political, religious, and cultural reasons. Some assassinations occur without explanation, or with explanations that sound illogical or ridiculous. On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was shot three times by his assassin, Nathuram Godse. Gandhi was a man who only wanted what was best for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and its people were what motivated him to do what he did. He was the leading figure responsible for India achieving independence, and he wanted to see a free and united country. Some may argue that he was not a good politician however, having to put politics within every view can sometimes be too much, which can cause arguments, leading to chaos. The first reason why Gandhi s death was unjustified was because Gandhi wanted only what was best for for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and its people were what motivated him to do what he did. An example of him wanting what was best for his fellow Indians is Gandhi leading several campaigns in which he intended to make public of what unfortunate situation Indians were in inside their Country. This include the protest against the South African government s refusal to allow for Indians to vote. He was significant to the the founding of the Natal Indian Congress in 1894. This is an organization that became center in 1894 and helped political resistance develop over a seven year period which began in 1906 (All stated in the article, Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India. ).
