3. Ernest Hemingway Is Well-Known For Uniquely Integrating
Ernest Hemingway is well known for uniquely integrating his own experiences into his works. With
each plot, he subtly weaves the elements into multiple layers of significance. His skillful use of
allegory adds meaning to each story, as it allows the reader to take a step back in time and get a
glimpse some of the controversies of the past. If the story were to lose its believability, the connection
to the reader would be severed. Many of Hemingway s stories allow the reader to easily grasp the
superficial concepts that Hemingway is trying to convey, while also leaving the reader to expand upon
it in detail through her own experiences, imagination, and research. The descriptive setting, plausible
characters, and deep allegory of moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a realistic and descriptive setting tying into the story, the reader can effortlessly place herself into
the story and find something that relates to her through the experiences of the characters. Ultimately, if
the setting were to be unclear or seem unrealistic, then this story loses its power over the reader.
Furthermore, the reader able to connect to the short story, through its genuine characters. The story
approaches its characters in a more multifaceted way. Each character symbolizes aspects below the
surface of what the reader initially sees. If the characters were to fall flat and lack development, the
reader would be limited by the scope in which she experiences the story. The characters allow the
reader to see from many different moral perspectives, as they each depict a life stage of man from
hopeful conception to hopeless death. This is done throughout the story, as each character symbolizes
a moral transition. The sailor and the girl are morally carefree, sneaking off to conjugate, illustrating
the excitement and hopefulness that the beginning of life brings. Secondly, the younger waiter
signifies the moral confidence that comes with youthful age and inexperience. Additionally, the older
waiter is becoming morally resentful, feeling the wane, and despair that grows with age and
loneliness. Finally, the old man signifies almost complete despair, as he has tried to commit suicide

5. Cochlear Implants Case Study
When faced with having to make a major decision for their children, parents are often thrown into a
difficult and perplexing situation. These decisions become even more difficult for the parents when the
decision involves putting their children through something they cannot relate to. This is the case when
parents are required to decide whether to have cochlear implant surgery performed on their deaf child.
The decision of whether to go through with this procedure, which, when successful, provides a deaf
individual with the ability to hear, puts parents in a position to make an epistemically and personally
transformative decision for their child. Ultimately, the decision comes down to the experiences and
preferences of the parents; whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul begins her exploration into this transformative choice by examining the stances of two different
groups regarding this decision: members of the Deaf community, and the remainder of the general
population. According to Paul, when considering the necessity of having cochlear implant surgery
performed on their children, major ideological differences between the two groups became quite
apparent: While large medical corporations, experts in the medical community, and some members of
the hearing population strongly supported the use of cochlear implants, especially in children, many
members of the Deaf community resisted mass implantation (Paul 57). From the perspective of a
hearing individual, this preference may seem baffling. What would prevent someone from wanting
their child to have all the advantages of life, including the ability to use all their senses to their fullest
potential? This way of thinking, however, only gives insight into how humans make decisions; that is,
subjectively based on our own personal values and experiences. In the eyes of Deaf parents (with a
capital D, implying that they are members of a community of non hearing, fully capable people,
instead of a group of disabled individuals), being Deaf is a blessing, giving their children access to a
community that provides its members with shared experiences and support that is unavailable in any
other way (Paul 58). Ultimately, the parents do what they personally see as the best course of action
for helping their

There has been much discussion on the Offences against the person act (OAPA) 1861. Many see the
act as outdated and clumsy, its wording unclear and as being difficult to explain and prosecute under.
The OAPA is used in 100,000 prosecutions every year. The Law Commission has attacked the OAPA
for creating constant legal argument and delay because of unclear wording and wasting thousands of
pounds in taxpayer s money in appeals. Both the Law Commission and the Government have looked
at possible reforms for the act in order to improve its position in English Law. The 1861 Act is widely
criticised for being archaic and unclear, it is in urgent need of reform. It is hoped that after the change

In some cases the words used are open to interpretation, which can lead to conflicting decisions based
on the meaning of a single word. There is no clear statutory definition of assault or battery, this means
that it is often left to a judge to decide his own meanings of the words and apply them in a case. This
could lead to injustice as he may decide more strict meaning than is widely accepted as a definition.
With the more serious offences the words are often antiquated and in some cases misleading for
example assault and maliciously . This is because it is an old piece of legislation, and the vocabulary
used in 1861 has evolved to have different meanings in modern England. The wording has also lead to
a gap in the law, with, in certain cases defendants getting off a crime, which in terms of common sense
he is guilty of. For instance if man in the street threatens to kill you it would be seen as assault. But if
he shouts that he is going to kill you tomorrow in the eyes of the law that is not an assault, even
though any reasonable person can see that it is a clear danger to the person the threat is directed to.
Another area of criticism is the hierarchy of the offences; the offences are listed in terms of
seriousness with the most serious offences being first in the Act. There are major differences in the
sentencing within the sentences and this has lead to criticism. For

8. Ontological Security In Anne Carson s Autobiography Of Red
Anne Carson s novel, Autobiography of Red, can be looked at as the example to the claims that R.D.
Laing makes in his novel, The Divided Self, about ontological security and insecurity. This book
discusses the study of human situations, specifically the ontological anxiety of a schizophrenic in
relation to existentialism. In these two ways of existing(ontological security and insecurity), there are
core differences. A character from Carson s novel, Geryon, experiences both of these mental states
throughout his story. In this novel, we follow Geryon through love and heartbreak, coming of age,
abuse, and death. We can view the life of a boy in childhood to a man in adulthood who has
experienced many of the topics Laing discusses. Ontological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is the thought that another person can rob you of your own subjectivity, and turn you into a thing or
an object. To defend against this anxiety, the patient will treat others like objects instead. Petrified, in a
literal sense, means turned to stone. Laing points out that the patient is in fear of being turning into a
thing instead of the subject: the it instead of the I . I m not sure if Geryon was fully experiencing
depersonalization or petrification when he was viewing the picture of the volcano Herakles

stumbled and perplexed by the photo, it is a simple photo and it was appealing, but he still couldn t
grasp something about it. Garyon says What if you took a fifteen minute exposure of a man in jail, let

confusing subject and object. (Carson 52) I believe the lava is supposed to be the object and the person
is supposed to be the subject, however I am not sure if Geryon is thinking of it this way, or if the
grandmother is thinking of it this way. I think Carson may have left that up to the readers to decide
since there are not many hints in that

9. Obesity Epidemic
The American Obesity Epidemic The American obesity epidemic is an issue that has become
increasingly prevelant over the years. While this is a very large and complex issue, it can be primarily
pin pointed to a few key factors, such as poverty, lifestyle, and the types and availability of food these
days.
The largest contributing factor to obesity in this country is poverty. Charles L. Baum discusses this
extensively in his article The Effects of Food stamps on Obesity. Poverty has historically been
associated with a decrease in food consumption. This at least partially changed in 1964, when the
Food Stamp Act began guaranteeing food for those in poverty. Since the act s passage, obesity has

I don t find that an agent representing more than one athlete on the same team to be unethical. From
the agent s perspective, it is important for him to build his clientele thus building his reputation
amongst athletes. When an athlete hires an agent, they trust that person to handle almost all aspects of
their career, which includes negotiating endorsement deals, career advice, contract negotiations, and
concierge services. Also, if a few players share the same agent on the same team, it could potentially
build chemistry between the athletes as far as communicating in the locker room. It is unethical for an
agent to represent a coach and a player on the same team as it could potentially lead to conflicting
interests. Coaches deal with just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have seen a few examples of two players that share the same agent on the same team when both are
negotiating new contracts. This creates leverage for that sports agent against the team. Surely, that
team will want to keep their star player but that price becomes steep when the same agent ups the
asking price for the less known player who also needs a new deal. An example I ll give involved
LeBron James and Tristan Thompson. They both share the same agent, Rich Paul. Another caveat is
that Rich Paul is a long time friend of LeBron James. Obviously, LeBron is one of the best players of
this generation. However, Tristan Thompson while is a good player, is nowhere near being one of the
top players in the league. In his career, he has averaged 9.7 PPG and 8.5 RPG. Thompson was
involved in a long contract stalemate with the Cavs because he wanted a max contract. After months
of negotiations, Thompson received a 5 year $82 million dollar deal from Cleveland. NBA executives
around the league were surprised to see the deal that Thompson got. Rich Paul benefitted greatly from
this as his two clients were getting paid max contract money from Cleveland. From the Cavs
perspective, they overpaid for a middle of the road player to keep their star player

12. Asymmetricistic Impact On Graphic Design
THE IMPACT OF THE INTERNATIONAL TYPOGRAPHIC STYLE ON WEB DESIGN
INTRODUCTION The International Typographic Style, or Swiss Style, invokes to the graphic design
movement that emerged in Switzerland during the 1950s, after the Second World War, in a particular
social, economical and industrial context.
Through emphasizing clarity of information, the International Style is characterized by a range of
specific visual hallmarks. This movement is especially marked by the creation and use of grids and
sans serif typefaces.
Admired for its simple, clean, factual, neutral and highly mathematical structured approach to
organizing and presenting information, it became a new revolution in the world of graphic design and
especially in web design. Indeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It serves as a framework for designers to organize their information and make it clear. Inspired by the
Constructivism approach, Swiss designers preferred asymmetrical layouts and used the grid as an
organization tool to provide an overall orderly and unified structure.
The grid serves as an armature on which designers can organize text and images in a rational, easy to
absorb manner.
The use of photography is another important characteristic of this movement. Swiss designers were
influenced by the modernist idea in which photography was a better tool to show reality than drawings
and illustrations.
Keeping white spaces is essential for Swiss designers because it helps to perceive the different groups
of the content. In a format, the right amount of white spaces at the good places can create a first good
impression and can motivate visitors to read through the web page. So, white spaces are important for
a good design and the Swiss style design lays a lot of emphasis on it. This style promotes the use of
big white spaces between texts to differentiate them and to give a boost to the whole design. It also
suggests the use of white spaces between images to improve the look of the

Plea Bargaining
Introduction
Much of the criticism leveled at the legal system in general and the criminal justice system in
particular is well deserved, but one feature of the criminal justice system poorly understood and thus
unfairly judged by both the public and the media, is the process of plea bargaining. Because criminal
defendants have no incentive to plead guilty as charged, and because the number of cases that would
otherwise need to be tried vastly exceeds the resources available to try them, plea bargaining is a
strategy for avoiding total gridlock.
Definitions of Plea Bargaining The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naïve defendants may enter into plea agreements with prosecutors not knowing that they have the
right to litigate fully any charges against them.
However, according to the Fifth and Sixth Amendments of the United States Constitution, no person
shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself (self incrimination), and in all
criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial
jury, to be confronted with witnesses against him.
Advantages of Plea Bargaining There are several advantages for plea bargaining. Some include;
reducing the uncertainties of criminal trials, fewer trials and trial delays, more convictions, and
reducing the costs of trials. Some other advantages of plea bargaining are that victims are spared either
the trauma or inconvenience of testifying, according to the nature of the case, and the prosecution is
spared the risk of acquittal.
Disadvantages of Plea Bargaining The concrete disadvantage is that there is some reduction in the
conviction offense or sentence or both, although the outcomes of responsible plea bargaining are not
dramatically different from probable outcomes absent plea bargaining. The most significant
disadvantage of plea bargaining, however, is the abstract one it involves negotiating with criminals
and rewards their refusal to

The intestine is not just an organ that handles digestion, nutrient absorption and excretion.
Intestine problems are often associated with constipation.
Constipation can cause stomach to bulge and many people are concerned about it. However, this is
just one example caused by the deteriorating intestinal environment.
Other than digestion, nutrient absorption and excretion, the intestine has other functions which are less
known. Such functions are closely related to the whole human body.
This is why when one s intestinal environment deteriorates, it does not simply cause stomachache and
constipation.

19. Models of Corrections Essay
The history of correctional thought and practice has been marked by enthusiasm for new approaches,
disillusionment with these approaches, and then substitution of yet other tactics (Clear 59). During the
mid 1900s, many changes came about for the system of corrections in America. Once a new idea goes
sour, a new one replaces it. Prisons shifted their focus from the punishment of offenders to the
rehabilitation of offenders, then to the reentry into society, and back to incarceration. As times and the
needs of the criminal justice system changed, new prison models were organized in hopes of lowering
the crime rates in America. The three major models of prisons that were developed were the medical,
model, the community model, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many criminals re offend after they are released because they were put back into society with no
money and no job and no place to live. Gradually allowing criminals to reenter society and helping
them to find jobs will put many on the right track. This program allows people a second chance and
the possibility to change their lives around. This program seems to be a necessity yet it will not work
for everyone. Not all criminals should be let out on the street again. Just because you give a murderer
a job and some money and secure them a place to stay, you have no idea whether they have the desire
to kill again . This program would work for those that were ready to reenter society and would be
extremely beneficial to those who have nothing on the outside to help them. The third aim at bettering
the system of corrections in America was the idea of the crime control model. The crime control
model was based on the assumption that criminal behavior can be controlled by more use of
incarceration and other forms of strict supervision (Clear 57). This new model was designed with the
intent to incarcerate prisoners for longer periods of time. Under this program the death penalty was
reinstated in thirty seven states. This model was thought to have worked best for violent offenders
such as drug dealers and murderers. It seems as though this program was created to scare people from
committing a crime because of the strict punishment that would occur.

22. The Importance Of Censorship
Censorship Children s innocence must be protected by censorship. The debate on whether censorship
is beneficial to society often compiles to a few main reasons. Subjects like freedom of speech, women
s rights, and children s innocence is brought into question when discussing censorship. It is an
important debate because what is censored influences societal beliefs of what is right and wrong. It
decides what truths are revealed publicly. Some people think censorship is beneficial because it
supposedly protects children, but it is actually useless because it underestimates children s tolerance,
witholds information, oversexualizes women, and sugarcoats the truth. Even if it were true that many
men would not be affected by such a book, nevertheless can we confidently say that such a book
would not be responsible for rapes, Censorship advocates believe media that is uncensored encourages
unacceptable behavior. According to Storck, censorship would inhibit at least one rapist from actually
raping someone. The notion of empowerment seems problematic, suggesting as it does a trajectory
that moves towards greater empowerment across the life course, Many people question the idea of
female empowerment insisting that women are using it as an excuse to be openly sexual. Exon claims
U.S. law will protect kids from pornography that is easily accessible using their computers and will be
against the law for children to participate in sexual conversations on the internet (175).

24. Feminine Mystique Analysis
In Friedan s The Feminine Mystique , she addresses the unspoken problem of women, especially
housewives, in the 1950 s and 60 s. Women were taught to be a mother and wife and to embrace their
femininity. They were also taught to reject academia and pity the neurotic, unfeminine, unhappy
women who wanted to be poets, physicists, or presidents. These women were consuming what was
given to them in pop culture. They dyed their hair blonde and ate chalk to lose weight. The dream for
women during this time was to be the perfect suburban housewife, which included a good marriage,
four children, and nice house in the suburbs.
Friedan states that if a woman had a problem, she knew something was wrong with either herself or
her marriage. Since no one else discussed their dissatisfaction with their wifely duties, the women who
felt this believed they were the only one in this situation and something must be wrong with them.
Friedan calls this the problem that has no name because there was a mass number of women feeling
this way, but no one could put a name to this condition. Women who had this problem described it as
feeling empty and incomplete, as if they didn t exist. Although many women were feeling this way,
the media still portrayed women as happy housewives, further reinforcing that no other women were
feeling that way. Friedan goes on to say that we can no longer ignore this issue and lists the reasons
people had to explain this phenomenon, such as the loss of femininity, too much education, or the
demands of domesticity. She refutes these points, and at the end, Friedan says there is more behind the
problem that has no name and, again, we can no longer ignore it.
In the Barbara Smith reading, she starts out by talking about figuring out a name for her book Home
Girls , and how many black people who are threatened by feminism argue that you have left the race
and are no longer a part of the black community if you are a feminist. Smith states that black feminism
is a natural part of the black experience despite the separation it appears to have from the black
community. Black women, Smith says, have been reluctant to identify with the liberation struggle due
to a number of reasons, including the

26. How Do Serial Killers Came From Nature Or Nurture
RBAA First Draft: Serial Killers
Serial killers have always fascinated society because no one knows how they come to be. People tend
to think that being a psychopath is the same as being a serial killer. The acts committed by serial
killers are too heinous and horrifying for a normal person to understand. Which is where one of the
theories of how serial killers came to be came from. Nature vs. Nurture has been a topic of debate
when it comes to serial killers for centuries. The debate is about whether genetics or environment
factors determine the behavior and personality of a person. Just like hair color is determined by
genetics, Those who argue genetics are the main factor in behaviour believe that genetic determines a
person s ability to take life without guilt or remorse. Those who are the believers of nurture side
disagrees by stating that environmental factors like family, faith, and society regulate one s capability
to take life without remorse. Society needs to refrain from thinking that serial killers are born because
they are made through psychological trauma caused by abuse at an early age or brain damage.
Human behaviors are learned emotion through interaction with each other. A child s brain is like a
sponge. It absorbs the behavior of its surroundings. Serial killer s treatment and view of other people
is a learned behavior through interaction with others in society. The Bobo doll experiment conducted
by Albert Bandura in 1961 1963 at Stanford University shows how children s behavior depends on
adults that are around them. In the experiment, adults acted aggressively to the Bobo doll and the
study was on how the children will react to it after they saw the adults interaction with the doll.
Bandura conducted the experiment on two models where one of the models contained children
exposed to the aggressive act performed by the adult on the Bobo doll. The other model contained
children who saw adults act in a pleasant way to the doll. The result of this experiment showed that
children exposed to the aggressive model were more likely to act physically aggressive than those who
were not (McLeod). This study proved the social learning theory which basically states that children

27. Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
The Character of the Parson of Canterbury Tales
Geoffrey Chaucer is considered by many critics as the father of English literature. His literary
masterpiece was The Canterbury Tales. In these tales, Chaucer writes about pilgrims who are on a
journey to Canterbury. Each pilgrim has a tale that they tell on this journey. Chaucer expresses themes
and messages through the characterization of each pilgrim. Through the Parson, one of the pilgrims,
Chaucer is able to portray the life of a true Christian through the general prologue, prologue to the
Parson s tale, and the Parson s tale itself.
In the general prologue, Chaucer introduces the reader to the Parson. He is a holy minded man of good

genuine Christian living a Christ like life. He, being learned (478), knew and taught the gospel. He
was not hypocritical nor did scrupulosity (522) poison his character. Chaucer himself greatly admires
the Parson saying, I [Chaucer] think there never was a better priest (520).
Chaucer continues to praise and respect the Parson in the prologue to the Parson s tale. He writes on
how the Parson declines not to tell a story, but rather to use the opportunity to preach to the other
pilgrims. The Parson shows characteristics of living a Christian life through his efforts to spread the
word. He chooses to enlighten the pilgrims of a true spiritual purpose rather than to entertain them
with lavish stories. In addition, Chaucer shows how the Parson is clear minded in the prologue. The
Parson is continuously focused on spreading the gospel and is not distracted but material things. He
chooses a life of servant hood and virtue over wealth, fame, and glory
In the Parson s tale itself, Chaucer is able to present the Parson s understanding of the earthly life.
Through the teaching of the seven deadly sins, the readers realize the impact of sin and its potential to
poison spiritual life. The Parson show how wise and knowledgeable he is through his ethical teachings
of the sins. He first warns

The Hollow Hope by Gerald Rosenberg is based on one research question. That question is: Can the
Court bring about significant social change? In examining this question Rosenberg presents two
different views of the Court. The dynamic court view believes that the court is an excellent catalyst for
social change while the constrained court view believe that there are constraints in place that prevent
the court from making significant change. The constrained court believes that it is only when these
constraints are lifted and certain conditions met that the Court can have an effect on social change. To

One thing that he does not make so clear is what he constitutes as significant social change, and how
he will measure what that exactly.
In reading the book Rosenberg does seem to give a hint of bias toward the constrained court as being
more correct, as it appears he spends less of his time arguing for the dynamic court view. However it
may not be bias that is perceived, but just that through his investigation he has found that the
constrained court view is a more accurate representation. There are some parts in the book where
Rosenberg almost asks too much of the Court for the dynamic court view, which makes it appear that
he is setting up the dynamic court argument to fail. As Feeley (1992) mentions in his review of the
first edition of The Hollow Hope, Rosenberg makes his arguments as a lawyer would, which by
definition sets up his opponent to fail and as his conclusion as the most obvious choice. With this in
mind one could conclude that Rosenberg sets up the dynamic court view to fail on purpose to make
his point more clear. There are some points throughout the book where there is a correlation for the
dynamic court that it means there is nothing there, whereas when there is a correlation for the
constrained court he uses that as a point to prove his conclusions.
The sources that Rosenberg used are dependable sources, and he presents the information that the
sources provide in a

varied use of figurative language he is devoid from the intricacies of style and structure on how the

The vivid imagery and intimate language used to convey the intensive labor also creates ambiguity

Since the U.S. Copyright Act became law in 1790, the copyright term has been increasing. Copyright
is an intangible property right granted by federal statue to the author or originator of certain literacy or
outside productions. The first major change was the Copyright Act of 1976, it gave American authors
the right to print, re print, or publish their work for 14 years and then to renew for another 14. In 1998,
Congress passed the Sonny Bono Copyright Act also known as the Mickey Mouse Copyright Act,
which extended protection from life of the author plus 70 years as well as taking away the need for a
copyright notice and registration. The result was that many whom did not have copyright protection
due to lack of copyright notice and registration were now protected. Following the Mickey Mouse
Copyright Act, they passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act which intended to create a new
updated version of copyright laws to deal with the challenges of regulating digital material. It aimed to
protect the rights of both copyright owners and consumers, and without it copyright owners would
have a difficult time obtaining legal action against those who copy copyrighted material. Copyright act
laws should be extended for various reasons, one is that, it gives the creator more time to profit from it
and if the creator dies early on it will be passed on to their family. Knowing that work will be

34. Nature, Power, And Division Of A Tempest And The Tempest
Nature, Power, and Division in A Tempest and The Tempest
Humans have often struggled to define their relationship with nature throughout history. In the early
periods of their existence, humans were ruled by the brutality of untamed nature. They utilized nature
to an extent of survival, but had not yet developed a system to thrive within it. As humans advanced,
both mentally and technologically, their aptitude and desire to exploit nature increased dramatically.
These two polar relationships between humans and nature are mirrored in William Shakespeare s The
Tempest and Aimé Césaire s A Tempest. In The Tempest, Shakespeare fixates on Caliban s attachment
to nature and Prospero s exploitation of it, while in A Tempest, Césaire employs nature as the dividing
force between Caliban and Prospero. These two separate themes both represent the consequences that
occurred throughout history as a result of two ideologies about nature colliding during colonization.
Caliban s strong emotional attachment to the island in The Tempest motivates him to actively respect
nature. During Caliban s first interaction with Prospero in the play, he states, This Island s mine, by
Sycorax my mother. This assertion of dominion by Caliban sparks a desire for him to protect the
nature on the island. As a result, he values nature like it is an extension of himself and strives to
maintain harmony with it. Caliban follows this up by reminding Prospero, And then I loved thee and

36. Analysis Of Les Demoiselles DAvignon
Les Demoiselles d Avignon Abstract expressionism Jackson Pollock Yif Chen Oct. 10th Les
Demoiselles d Avignon is probably the most representative painting that transits Picasso to cubism. It
is a radical break from the conventional representation that for so long has been accepted in western
culture because Picasso directly brings concepts like sexuality, female nude bodies, and sexually
transmitted diseases to form a palpable three dimensional fractured space. Picasso depicts the
opposition of pleasure, which is sensual eroticism with sarcasm in a brothel located on a street named
Avignon, takes women outward to audiences and engages with viewers. This painting is an
untraditional and bold confrontation with the conventional art, thus, revolutionizing the entire art
world. In this eye catching depiction, five prostitutes with five different shocking positions cover all
over the canvas. With different elements, like the African mask, disproportional gesture, and Iberian
sculpture, complexity and contraction are vividly portrayed in this painting. Making use of
aggressively nude bodies, Picasso boldly pulls exaggerated and distorted expression into the canvass,
and forms a sense of flatness by directing an interior, closed, and almost claustrophobic space, because
every prostitute is almost near the edge of canvass, but at the same time, is perfectly enclosed by the
space. There is no illusion or visual space that creates depth; the whole canvas is filled with

TRADE AREAANALYSIS Trade Area Analysis, Development and Mapping Trade area analysis and
mapping describe the characteristics of the area around a store or network of stores. Without accurate
trade area definitions, you cannot measure the key statistics that impact a store s performance. Use
trade area analysis to aid site selection and target marketing. Trade area analysis and mapping tell you:
Where a store s customers are coming from How many customers you have in a trade area Where to
look for for more customers Benefits of Trade Area Analysis Identify gaps or overlaps in the market

Note that samples located across the river would be included in the 5 mile demographic summaries for
this site. Gravity Models: Gravity models, or spatial interaction models, define a trade area based on
its attractiveness relative to other trade areas. These models provide an approximation of store trade
area by putting the distribution of all locations (including competitors) into a geographical context and
evaluating each location s relative attractiveness. Typically, a distance decay curve is used to model
the spatial interaction of individual locations. Often size of the store, or store sales if available, is used
to drive the attractiveness parameter. Gravity models are more sophisticated than simple radial
approximations, but they still do not account for logistical barriers and they are limited by the
availability and accuracy of competitor data. Moreover, gravity models basically are sophisticated
algorithms, which may not be appropriate for non technical analysts. Figure 2a. Gravity based

progression represents zones of increasing patronage probability. Figure 2b. Gravity based patronage

39. Youth Violence And Its Effect On Children
Since the year 2000, youth violence has been one of the biggest concerns in almost every community.
In my research I decided to evaluate the study of youth violence. Youth violence is said to start since
the early days of childhood and lead onto the teenage years of a child. When talking about youth
violence, the child may not only be an offender but they can be a victim of violence as well. Bullying,
punching, slapping, kicking, teasing, and verbal abuse are all behaviors and forms of mistreatment that
can harm someone both physically and emotionally. These acts can occur at home, school, afterschool
programs, and even among friends. Some parents tend to overlook the importance of youth violence
among their kids. In some cases the parents aren t even aware that their child might be either an
offender or a victim of youth violence. Some parents at home try to talk to their children to make sure
their kids aren t victim of youth violence and in the process they talk to them about the dangerous
being violent towards others. In my research, I discovered that some of the causes to why kids are so
violent is because of either the lack of parental attention, not given parental discipline, they are
victims of abuse at home, or even taught to be violent by the games and movies they are exposed to by
the media. Which is why now a days the community tries to work together to create a safe
environment for their children. They try to involve the children into programs that teaches them

40. Weyerhaeuser s Performance Management Process
Weyerhaeuser s Performance Management Process
Weyerhaeuser uses a pay for performance system and utilizes a performance management process
(PMP) to evaluate employee s annual performance and that performance rating is used in calculating
the individual s merit pay increase. Over the years, Weyerhaeuser s pay for performance compensation
strategy has undergone several changes and improvements. The company utilizes merit increases
where an individual s yearly increase is based on how well they have performed against objectives.
Performance management is directly tied to compensation in a pay for performance system and is
based on how well an individual performs during the year against specific, measurable goals is tied to
how much they will receive in a merit pay system. According to Milkovich, Newman and Gerhart
(2014, p. 337), a merit pay system links increases in base pay (called merit increases) to how highly
employees are rated on a performance evaluation. How well your merit pay system works and is seen
by the employees as effective, fair, and a tool to increase motivation and retention is based on how
well performance is actually measured and the ability to quantify performance. Though there are
challenges with the merit pay system, Heathfield (n.d., par. 9) shares, even with the limitations that
exist in the awarding of merit pay, merit pay is your best opportunity to ensure that your outstanding
performers remain with your company and continue to make their

41. Mission Objectives Of Jazzpunk
Jazzpunk opens with your character, Agent Polyblank, receiving a mission from his superior The
Director. The mission involves infiltrating the Russian consulate but this game is no Splinter Cell. Set
in an alternate reality where the Cold War is still raging, Polyblank must deal with robots, spies and
some of the strangest gadgets ever seen in a game.
The creators cite comedy films such as Airplane and Naked Gun as major influences on the gameplay
so if you are expecting any type of seriousness from Jazzpunk you are in for a shock. You are given an
overall objective for each mission that is started by swallowing Missionoyl pills by the way, but after a
level starts you are left to your own devices. I strongly suggest that you actually ignore your mission
objective for as long as possible and explore the environments otherwise you will miss out on some of
the best elements that the game has to offer.
What I love about Jazzpunk is that it is totally unpredictable. As you wander around the levels and
interact with the environment you never know what is going to happen next. One minute you might be
helping a frog to hack into the Wi Fi of a coffee shop and the next shooting champagne corks at
enemies in a Quake deathmatch style mini game called Wedding Quake. It is a surreal but thoroughly
enjoyable experience that had me laughing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jazzpunk is definitely worth at least two playthroughs if you want to experience everything. I really
wish that I could say more about the game but doing so would ruin some of the surprises that it has in
store. I would have loved to see a few more locations in the game but really enjoyed the ones that are
on offer. If you are not a fan of spoof comedy films and cartoons the humor in Jazzpunk is probably
not going to appeal to you but everyone else should definitely check it

42. Dogs Are Dogs And Cats
To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more;
some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main
points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big they
get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog still has a
much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named docga . The word
dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of
smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good human
companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of the word
cat comes from old English and Middle English as catte . The word cat means a small domesticated
carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I
always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box
that s kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get
very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to
let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom.
If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go

43. Pros And Cons Of Caadavers
The use of Cadavers in my view, and from my experience of working and studying in the dissection
lab of the National University of Ireland, Galway is one of the best ways human anatomy can both be
taught and learnt and I believe is an essential aspect in the study of educational anatomy and should be
utilised in the learning of anatomy where possible. The active, hands on exploration that cadaveric
dissections provide, joined with excellent teaching methods makes for an interesting yet challenging
method of learning anatomy. In saying this, I do believe that there are both pros and cons associated
with the study of cadaveric anatomy.
My first time entering a dissection room, my initial emotion was fascination. This fascination
stemmed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the question still remains, to what extent can these apps and systems be used in the learning and
understanding of anatomy? Are they 100% reliable in terms of accuracy and correct information? Can
these computerised resources replace cadaveric dissections? And finally, are they possibly the best
method to utilise in the learning and understanding of anatomy? Answers to these questions may differ
from person to person, but I personally believe that the role that a cadaver plays in the processing,
digestion and assimilation of information that has been taught in lectures is paramount as from my
experience of using these systems, and trying to learn from them, I feel like in terms of the positioning
of anatomical structures such as muscles and nerves, these 3D visuals fall short. They provide only a
rough and vague indication of the location of structures and sometimes don t provide an accurate
representation of the structures in comparison to viewing them on a gross specimen. They lack the
aspect of precision that a cadaver would provide in terms of location, shape and size of anatomical
structures. The idea that students can one day be taught a completely new topic, for example, the
Brachial Plexus, and the next day enter into a dissection

44. Australia Post Executive Summary
Executive Summary
Early into his tenure as Australia Post CEO, Ahmed Fahour recognised that the postal services
industry was in a state of transition and the organisation needed an urgent change in direction if it was
to survive in the long term. The extremely challenging landscape for the national carrier led Fahour to
focus his efforts on innovative solutions with the potential to transform Australia Post s business
model and strategically position the organisation in the heart of the digital economy. The focus on
internally developing strategic capabilities through innovation has seen a shift towards the
prioritisation of its workforce engagement and diversity, which Fahour believes are paramount for
businesses looking to make innovative changes. Technology continues to pose significant
opportunities and threats for the postal services industry, and while it has been a major disruptor by
eroding mail volumes, on the other hand, the rapid uptake of online shopping has boosted industry
performance resulting in exponential growth in demand for parcel delivery services. The following
