H ow to make big wheels with hubs machinsut handbook lathe espanol dddd
1. Big wheels with Hubs
If you have a big wheel and can hold it by the hub, do that
so you can cut the OD all in the same cut, we have been
holding bu the OD of wheel and we are getting problems with
this kind of pieces.
1. Set up your piece, check that the face. ID of wheel
and OD run as close to 0 as possible that may be hard if
your piece is made of cast iron,
2. Cut some material on Face and OD, finish the OD
to size, cut sharp edges, finish all pieces this way, find
some jaws that hold as much OD as possible, set jaws
and cut them, set up piece make a cut on the other side
of face in all of them check the measure on all 3 sides of
the piece to see if they match, flip the piece around and
finish the piece (LTD OF wheel, Bore and HUB)
3. You may not have to cut on ID of wheel and inside
face of wheel but put the TIR as close to 0 as you can.
4. If your print says “ OD and bore must be alligned” or something like that it
means that OD, OD of the Hub and bore must run True, meaning that all of them
must run the same, set up your piece, check TIR on OD and do the Hub and bore
on second operation so all of them match. This is necessary because the next
department will hold this piece from the Hub to cut the teeths and they need all of
them to run as close to 0 as possible.
5. Do not overt hight this piece or the hub and face will not mach on all 3 sides
and this piece will not be flat when they set it on the table to cut the teeths. Cut .
003 extra on the hub on the flat side so you will not have this problem.
