Abstract
In the last three decades, pulsed high voltage discharge technology has offered promising
techniques for the treatment of wastewaters released to the environment by industry. A significant
effort has been directed towards understanding the processes that occur during the discharge of
solutions for a variety of reactor configurations. This review presents the disadvantages and
advantages of different reactors based on discharge phase. Detailed information is also provided on
the principals used in each technique and the advantages and disadvantages associated with each
method. Finally, a discussion on the different discharge areas is presented.

Effect Of Economic Growth On Energy Demand And The...
Effect of Economic Growth in China on Energy Demand and the Environment Introduction China
has grown economically to be one of the most important countries in the world; with over 1.3
billion population and the sheer size of the country, this economic phenomenon is unprecedented.
If only this were the only growth China has experienced, then it would really be a phenomenon,
sadly, it is not. China s drastic growth in the economy has also lead to a few other drastic
growths, but it is not for the better, in fact, it is for the worse. The energy consumption level and
the pollution level in China has grew much faster than the growth of GDP since 2002. In 2000,
China has set a goal to quadruple its GDP by 2020, which could mean that the... Show more content

For the past thirty years, China s GDP has been growth at a substantial rate 10% annually, when
totaling that up for 30 years, that would be an increase over 17 times their original economy
before their economic boom. China s economy is ranked second to the U.S and it is the world s
largest exporter and the world s second largest importer. This sounds magnificent, of course,
until we bring into the statistics of China s pollution level increase within those thirty years as
well. Before China s economic boom, their economy pollution was only minimal, after the
economic reform implemented by Deng Xiao Ping, the economy started to grow, and pollution
started to soar as well. From 1980 to 2001, China s economy have grown at 10% GDP, but its
energy consumption have not grown as fast, meaning there were less pollution than growth. China
had excess energy to sell to the energy market in the world prior to 2002. After 2002, China s
demand for energy skyrocketed, which mean their pollution also skyrocketed to an unprecedented
level in China s history. By 2007, China had surpass U.S at the number one spot in pollution, in
which it emits 20 million tons of Co2 annually, and this number is predicted to increase even more,
but their economy was still only ranked second. Which means that China had generating more
pollution per dollar GDP than the U.S. China is a very

Wipro Case
Are Two CEOs Better Than One? The case of WIPRO
Take an organization with business divisions that overlap, add rapid growth, and flavour with
problems arising from an uncertain environment. What you have, potentially, is a recipe for
confusion. At Wipro, India s largest software services firm, however, little evidence of confusion
has appeared despite the turbulent winds that have buffeted the company for the past few years.
When former CEO Vivek Paul left to join Texas Pacific Group, a private equity firm, Wipro has
had no CEO since Paul s departure, with Chairman Azim Premji who owns more than 80% of this
Mumbai and New York listed company combining the roles of both chairman and CEO.
Wipro was established in 1947. It was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We do believe that the power of two will help us so far as we are concerned, given our
environment. Adds Paranjpe: Given the enormity of the opportunity and the task at hand, we felt it
was worthwhile to have two of us trying to drive this rather than leave it to one individual to try
and do [everything]. And from a personal perspective, it can get very lonely at the top. So, having
two people helps.
The business environment in India gives an impetus to this model of collegial and collective
leadership. The premium aspect for companies doing business in India is the combination of access
to a highly skilled labour pool and attractive wage levels. The penalties are the uncertainties in the
business environment with respect to infrastructure, power availability, urban transportation and
stability in policy regimes.
Companies like Wipro need two CEOs because of the complexity of doing business in India. On
the one hand, you have to manage offshore client relationships and business development by
staying really closely tuned to what is happening in international markets. On the other, you have to
be embedded in India to manage the country specific challenges. Sometimes these two faces of
complexity are quite divorced from each other; they are different sets of challenges. It may be
difficult for the same CEO to handle both ends.

Who was Napoleon Essay
Napoleon was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, on 15 August 1769, the second of Carlo and Letizia
Bonaparte s eight children. In 1778, Napoleon began his education at Autun and later attended
school in Brienne, excelling in mathematics and science. Following a year s study at the Ecole
Militaire in Paris, he was commissioned in the artillery in 1785. The year 1789 saw the outbreak of
the French revolution, which created an atmosphere of opportunity that would not have existed
under the Bourbons, and Napoleon was to make the most of it.
The first opportunity came in 1793, when Bonaparte was promoted to brigadier general for the
decisive part he played in the siege of Toulon, which ousted the British from mainland France. After

He signed a Concordat with the Pope in 1801 which restored religion to France, but his greatest
achievement was the Civil Code which in part is still used today. His growing popularity resulted in
his being proclaimed Emperor in 1804. At the coronation, Napoleon crowned himself, taking the
crown from the Pope in a symbolic manner to show that power stemmed from the state and not the
church as with previous monarchs.
It was an uneasy peace however, and plans were made to invade Britain by crossing the English
Channel, but these were abandoned when Napoleon marched his highly trained Grand ArmГ©e
into central Europe to meet the converging forces of Austria and Russia. Capturing a large part of
the Austrian army at Ulm, Napoleon crossed the Danube to face the remaining Austrians and the
Russians at Austerlitz. The result was a decisive victory known as the Battle Of Three Emperors
on 2 December 1805. Austria sued for peace, but a new coalition was formed of Britain, Russia
and Prussia. Napoleon defeated the Prussians at Jena in 1806, and the Russians at Friedland in 1807.
Following these victories, Napoleon was at the pinnacle of his career. With a great display of
pomp he met the Tsar of Russia at Tilsit and a new Franco/Russian alliance was born. Portions of
Prussia were divided into new states, and Napoleon later announced a new policy of economic
warfare that was to become known as the Continental System. Its goal was to

It is not my ability, but my response 1to God s ability that counts. Corrie ten Boom helped Jews

Themes In Scott Westerfeld s Uglies And The Third And...
Imagine if an individual conquering his/her largest challenge presents one with an incredible
reward. Surprisingly, this idea is shared between three uncommon literature works. Within Scott
Westerfeld s Uglies, the main character, Tally Youngblood, triumphed through an exhausting and
tough journey to a place that leads her to learn about self worth. Furthermore, The Third and Final
Continent describes the narrator, Jhumpa Lahiri s, adventure of his life through three continents
and poor living conditions during that time resulting in Jhumpa Lahiri finally finding a value in life.
In Rudyard Kiplings poem, If , the audience witnesses if statements that express if someone
conquers the troubles in their life, the world will be theirs. Incredibly, among three unlike
compositions, a common theme, overcoming obstacles and being honored with a sentimental
reward, is conveyed through plot, cause and effect, and characterization. Between Ugliesand The
Third and Final Continent, the moral surpassing struggles and receive an award is displayed
through the literary device, plot. For justification, both storylines included developed characters, an
exposition, a descriptive setting, one or multiple conflicts, necessary rising and falling actions, an
intense climax, and a resolution. As evidence, Tally, from Uglies, defeated her rough trip to her
destination and enjoyed her freedom as she fell into the routines of the Smoke (Westerfeld 218).

Chicken Wings Mystery Behind
Chicken Wings: The Mystery Behind
Chicken wings are among the top foods consumed by Americans each year. As a country we eat
an average of twenty five billion chicken wings per year, so we can see chicken wings are a food
many people have come to enjoy enjoy just half a century. A Buffalo wing is a chicken wingette
or drumette that is deep fried, unbreaded, and coated in vinegar based cayenne pepper hot sauce
and butter. (Wells Lynch). They have grown in popularity immensely and have now been
considered a classic American food for over half a century now. Although boneless chicken wings
are considered to be the most popular style of wings nowadays and the common flavors of wings
have evolved over the years into new ones such as honey barbeque ... Show more content on

Approximately fifty three years ago on March 4, 1964 Teressa Bellissimo, the owner of The
Anchor Bar, created the very first batch of chicken wings out of necessity. Teressa Bellissimo
basically had to put together the recipe after wrongfully receiving a shipment of wings instead of
chicken. By this time, the wings of the chicken were one of the least desired parts of the chicken.
Today, the bar that still claims to be the home of the original Buffalowing, and its modern day
menu offers up a purportedly authentic story from the son of the original owners, claiming that
his mom made the wings as a one off late night snack for him and his friends (Thompson). Since
chicken wings were once considered a scrap meat and were really cheap she typically used them
in her soups at the bar. On this particular night she was trying to get rid of her extra chicken
wings because she was not going to be able to make enough soup to use them all up. Therefore,
she decided to deep fry the extra wings that she was not going to use in the soup. Once they were
cooked to a crispy golden brown she tossed them in some hot sauce and served them to the late
night customers that were present. That night she served the wings with a couple celery sticks and
a small cup of blue cheese. This traditional side choice compliments the buffalo wings so well and it
stuck. Today this is something that is still carried on by all restaurants that serve chicken wings.
As pointed out previously, chicken wings can come in different styles such as traditional naked,
traditional breaded, and boneless. Yet, The Anchor Bar is known for creating the naked boneless
wing, which has no breading on the outside of the meet. This is one of the main differences
between The Anchor Bar s wings and the wings from John Young s Wing n Things

The Structure Of The Circus Maximus In Ancient Rome
In Rome there was a large stadium called the Circus Maximus . The Circus Maximus was a mass
entertainment venue used to hold chariot races, gladiatorial competitions, religious ceremonies and
athletic events. The Circus Maximus was built on the level ground of the Valley of Murcia ,
between Rome s Aventine and Palatine Hills. In Rome s early days, the valley would have been
rich agricultural land, prone to flooding from the river Tiber and the stream which divided the
valley. The circus was founded by King Tarquinius Priscus in the 6th Century BC, when the marshy
valley separating Palatine hill from Aventine Hill was drained just for its construction.
The circus maximus was the first and largest Chariot Racing Stadium built in ancient Rome. It
measured 621 m in length and 118 m in width, and could seat approximately 250,000 people,
which was over a quarter of the city s population.
The design of the Circus Maximus included a stretched oval arena with a flat end, which was
where the starting blocks were located. Chariots would enter the track when metal barriers were
lifted. A lavish luxury box was built high upon Palatine hill specifically for the Emperor to oversee
the games. The Circus Maximus design was lacking in one way, as the city grew in population and
wealth, the seating in the Circus had to grow to accommodate them.
Stone counterparts quickly replaced the original wooden seats. Gaius Julius Caesar ordered the
construction and seating was increased to 150,000

Compare And Contrast Shinto And Hinduism
Hinduism and Shinto
The two religion I choose to talk about are from India and Japan. These two religions have no
founder, they were transpired from within the native land and religions that surround them.
Hinduism and Shinto were built from other religious sections coming together and from challenges
that leaders had placed on their people trying to define their culture.
Hinduism faced the challenges of Jainism and Buddhism which originated from India. Hinduism
absorbed these two religions and adopted their identities into Hindu thinking. The Sanskrit name for
the river Indus is Sindhu this is how Hindu originated. Muslim conquerors first used it to describe
religion, made also for Indians who did not convert to Islam they were given the ... Show more

The Harsh Stereotypes Of Cafeteria Food And Negative...
The harsh stereotypes of cafeteria food and negative connotations of assumedly horrible lunch
ladies are as old and traditional as the American school system itself. Interestingly, the concept of
the school lunch is one that has been revolutionized over and over to fit the needs of American
youth. The overarching program that oversees and occasionally refurbishes the American
schooltime mealis the National SchoolLunchProgram, put on through the United States Department
of Agriculture. In 2012 this program provided over 30 million children meals that were nutritionally
sensible as well as fiscally responsible (United States Department of Agriculture, 2013), frequently
offering these meals at reduced or no cost to children otherwise unable to afford them. In addition to
keeping costs low to accommodate low income students, the National School Lunch program has
found that it must also balance an increase in highly nutritious foods to battle childhood obesity,
with the task of appeasing the increasingly picky eaters that comprise American youth. It is within
the realm of trying to strike this precarious and delicate balance that the National School Lunch
Program has created the problem of children refusing the nutrients they are being provided,
therefore wasting insurmountable amounts of food and learning incredibly unhealthy nutritional
habits along the way.
The National School Lunch Program was created to ensure that all children, regardless of age, race,

Juvenile Crimes Are Classified As Juvenile Delinquents
In the United States children and adolescents that partake in illegal behavior or commit crimes are
classified as juvenile delinquents. Those who are tried by the juvenile court system and continue
their illegal behavior are classified as repeat offenders. Juvenile crime can be either status offenses,
like under age drinking and range to violent crime, such as rape, aggravated assault, and even
property crimes. In many cases juveniles commit heinous acts that one would think only an adult is
capable of doing, this leads to sentences of life without parole.
In the past juveniles have been sentenced to life without parole, recent U.S. Supreme Court cases
have abolished this aw stating it violates their rights. Even though it reduces the recidivism

Essay about Nazi Germany
Nazi Germany
The most important reason as to why there was little opposition in Germany towards the nazi
regime because of its propaganda
I agree with this statement because everything to a certain extent was propaganda, speeches posters
and radio and the Hitler youth movements. So this statement is quite true
In my essay I am going to show methods of propaganda, opposition to the nazis , how propaganda
and what I think is the best method for controlling German.
Methods of propaganda the nazi used was, using radios to broadcast speeches, posters with eye

Gangs also proved to be a problem the youths because boys aged 14 17 between the age of leaving
school and joining the army enjoyed beating up members of Hitler s youth organisations.
The Nazis didn t get much get much opposition because the punishment was so server for people
found out of opposing Hitler. So many people chose to live in silence or emigrate.
Propaganda helped to prevent opposition to the nazis, by playing speeches over and over again
on the radio it kind of brainwashed people into think that the nazis were good and powerful also
having children learn about the nazis would help influence there parents into believing the nazis.
Also having smartly dressed SS soldiers parading in the street heavily armed, may have put some
people off of opposing the nazis and maybe seeing people being seriously beaten up even killed
may have put tem off too.
Other methods of controlling opposition was the SS and the Gestapo, they would go around
towns and beat up or arrest people who were assumed to be opposing the nazis. People were, this
way, scared of the storm troopers and were scared of saying anything offensive about the nazi party.
In the work place to stop trade unions they had spies who would listen out for people planning up
risings against the party. So this kept the opposition to the nazis to a minimum, people

going on outside of the main attraction. In Alex s music s room the first thing that captures your

look closer into the painting you can see crazy details. Like the lions laying around in the music
room and the candles in the pieced looks as if it s a person not really a candle. The decoration on
the chandelier looks like there is really gems hanging in the art. In the art piece Getting Even its isn

painting its taking place in some field of flowers. It s late at night and it looks like a man is about
to kill another person but the other human being is just standing there. I guess the person is getting
even by homicide since that s the name of the painting. The painting doesn t really focus on the
people in it. It focusses more on the scenery because its more emphasized in the painting. The
people are more a shadow and in the background I would say. My favorite painting out of the five
would have to the be the Carousel Bartender you can see it in my expression. When I was looking

Why Are The Articles Of Confederation Ineffective
Shortly after America gained independence from England, Americans were faced with the trouble
of setting up a strong central government. Several delegates representing their respective states
were called to the Continental Congress, where they decided to put together a constitution for the
new nation. Delegates agreed that the powers of the government must be limited, so that they
wouldn t resemble the British government. The constitution created by the Congress became known
as the Articles of Confederation(1777). Although the government under the Articles of
Confederation proved to be useful in establishing western lands, they provided an ineffective form
of government due to the economic failures that plagued America. Through the laws such... Show

Since Congress was not able to control interstate commerce, states introduced tariffs in order to
promote internal trade. States placed high tariffs on goods coming from other states and low
tariffs for foreign goods in an attempt to attract foreign goods to their state. Additionally, under
the Articles of Confederation, Congress was limited from demanding taxation from the states.
Due to this, Congress was not able to generate enough money to operate despite the land
ordinances they created. This eventually led to a revolt, which came to be known as Shay s
Rebellion (1786). This was a revolt against the government for failing to issue paper money, ease
taxes, and prevent property foreclosures. Members of Shay s Rebellion demanded money as
compensation and began conducting acts of violence. Authorities responded by raising a small
army to put down the revolt. The government was not able to provide hard cash to citizens, due to
the fact that the government wasn t able to generate enough money for itself. Under the Articles,
Congress could not enforce its tax collection program. It was limited to establishing a tax quota for
each of the states and then requesting them to contribute their share on a voluntary basis, however
this quota was seldom satisfied by any state. The economic limitations that the Articles placed on
Congress severely hindered Congress ability to fulfill its duties to the

Making The Hummingbird Robots
As a team, David, Mackenzie, Lilly and I worked together to create a robot. The goal of our robot
was to pick a penny up off of the table and place it in the box with just a click of a button. The
materials used were cardboard and scrap metal, which we used to build a majority of the robot. To
make the robotfunction we used the Hummingbird Robotics Kit. We used duct tape to make the
penny sticky so it was able to be picked up. My group worked very hard for this robot to work. A
few problems we faced with the robot was how big of a piece of tape to use to pick up the penny
and what kind of tape to use, and with the timing of how much string to rotate back and forth for
the string to move and how much to make it turn. With the website we had to use to program the

Differences And Similarities Between English Language And...
For my research paper, I have chosen to explore the differences and similarities between the
English language and the German language. My interest in this subject area is mainly due to my
own nationality and roots in Germany. My grandma (or should I say meine omi), is from Gersfeld,
Germany and she immigrated to the United States during World War II. My research has conducted
many results that yield both similarities and differences between the languages. One of the most
prominent difference between the two languages is that German is spoken by about 95 million
people worldwide, and is the official language of Germany, Austria and parts of Switzerland
(Shoebottom, 1), meanwhile statistics show that English is the third most widespread native
language in the world, after Standard Chinese and Spanish. It is the most widely learned second
language and is either the official language or one of the official languages in almost 60 sovereign
states (Shoebottom, 1).
Contrary to this large disparity, according to Charles Russ, author of Historical German Phonology
and Morphology, English and German both belong to the Germanic branch of the Indo European
language family (1), this results in numerous similarities between the languages; including the
words: export, partner, blue jeans, computer, teenager, and jet (Garry and Rubino, 244). German

Health Data Reporting Paper
Health Data Reporting
Public health surveillance is an ongoing process to protect health information and it is the
responsibility of a public health official to protect the privacy of individuals related to health
information. There are several laws that apply to the public health agencies while reporting the
health information related issues to the State and Federal authorities. Any agency or organization
dealing with health information has legal duties to report health related data to the State or Federal
Public Health Agencies to protect public health and safety (Association of State and Territorial
Health Officials [Astho], 2012).

On the first place, it is the responsibility of the CDC to stop and prevent further spread of food

food items sold and most importantly for frozen item, which are more prone for spreading food
born diseases. Vendors should strictly follow general food safety measures and fines or punishment
must be imposed according to the area/people affected.
Event 2. Though nothing is full proof in the current world of Internet and cyber attacks, proper
planning and investment can prevent data theft to some extent. Health care organization can
improve their heath data security status by investing in their incident response approaches, which
will include documenting a formalized response process, and by building an incident response
team to deal with it. Keeping relationship with outside experts to prevent hacking of data is
helpful. Having all experts from all fields like IT personnel, security gurus, and operational people
is not important, rather having a multi dimensional and multi disciplinary team who will
understand the process is better to prevent security threats (Moore, 2014). Measures such as two

The Financial Data Of Telus Corporation
Introduction Telus Corporation (Telus) is a national organization that provides telecommunications
(telecoms) products and services throughout Canada. Telecoms refers to the utilization of electronic
platforms to transmit information from one place to another. With the ongoing shift towards
telecoms in Canada, the use of products and services via both wired and wireless telecoms carriers
is increasing. Moreover, the necessity for organizations to transfer information, and for individuals
to stay connected with one another reinforces the need for telecoms.
Purposes of Report
This report aims to:
1)Analyze the financial data of Telus Corporation to obtain key ratios and statistics for an
investment recommendation.

This is the lowest it has been in the last five years (Refer to appendix table 3). However in 2013,
Telus dramatically increased the number of shares outstanding which resulted in a lower EPS.
Although EPS is a common indicator for a company s profitability, another factor that can be
utilized is cash flow.
Cash Flow
Telus possesses a strong cash flow. For the last five years, Telus has been increasing its cash with
the exception of 2014 (Refer to table 2). In 2015 Telus cash increased by 163 million (USD),
with the end cash position being 223 million (TMX Money, 2015). A healthy cash flow is
extremely important for any company that wants to meet its short term debts. As long as a
company has a positive net cash flow, it will be able to pay its debts and continue operating.
Therefore, due to its positive cash flow, Telus will be able to invest in growth opportunities and
secure debt with ease if needed.
The customer turnover rate for Telus is quite low. This is because it has managed to increase its
subscribers in TV, wireless and internet (Donnelly, 2016). Consequently, Telus is expected to grow
because of these factors. Furthermore, the aspect of high dividends makes Telus an attractive
investment. On December 11, 2015 Telus quarterly dividend was $0.44/share (Telus Investor
Information, 2015), which provides a safe, stable cash flow.

Of Julius Caesar And Kamehameha As A Effective Leader
Effective Leader Essay Kamehameha the Great was a remarkable leader who fought for his
people and for his cause: to unite the Hawaiian Islands. The process was long, but the outcome
was worth it. The two remaining rulers of the Kingdoms of Hawai i came to a consensus and
Hawai i had peace for the first time in three decades. During his rule, Kamehameha with help from
foreign advisors made Hawai i wealthier and safer. On a different note, Julius Caesars skill in
politics and warfare helped him earn the title of consul. Caesar used his resources and power to
expand Rome s empire, his fortune to distribute land to the unfortunate, and his authority to
legislate laws for his people (PBS.com). In the end, despite being from different centuries and
countries, Kamehameha the Great and Julius Caesar were both effective leaders because they
reliable, benevolent, and did what could benefit their people.
Both Julius Caesar and Kamehameha aided their countries to become wealthier and helped in times
of need. As king, Kamehameha took part in a trade between foreigners. While trading, Hawaii
earned most of its earnings from trading (mainly because of the thirst for sandalwood). However,
the sandalwood population began to plummet and, as a result, Kamehameha placed a kapu on
sandalwood younglings (26). In Rome, many were unemployed or poor, so Caesar went to fix this
problem. Some of the unemployed were offered jobs overseas while those who stayed behind
relied on a monthly grain supply.

Elizabeth Bennet Changes
The main characters in the story show case that, we as humans, have the ability to change our
perspectives and personalities that ultimately guide us. Jane Austen wrote the novel in a time
where our social norms were so radical compared to today. The change in society allows us to
greatly appreciate the author s work. The main characters are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.
The characters develop as the story progresses because of the events that lead to their drastic
changes. Elizabeth has 4 sisters and comes from a poor familybackground. Although her father
owns land, the sisters cannot inherit any of that as only males do during that time. So this puts
the emphasis on marrying a rich person that is well off and well ultimately take care of her and
her offspring. Due to this, Ms. Bennet is anxious to marry off all her 5 daughters. Elizabeth can
be described as a witty and intelligent person. She is her father s favorite daughter. In the
beginning of the story, she misjudges Mr. Darcy by how he acted at the Ball. Mr. Darcy is a
wealthy man that owns estate in Pemberley. He is described as a gentleman and extremely
handsome. Similar to Elizabeth s interaction, Mr. Darcy pre judges... Show more content on

pride from Darcy and the prejudice from Elizabeth was resolved by increased positive
interactions with each other. This can apply in real life like for example black people were not

Global Automotive Industry- Porter s 5 Forces
Porter s Five Forces Analysis
Michael Porter identified five forces that influence an industry. These forces are: (1) degree of
rivalry; (2) threat of substitutes; (3) barriers to entry; (4) buyer power; and (5) supplier power. For
more on this framework proposed by Porter, please see Appendix C. Like other industries operating
under free market, capitalistic systems, viewing the automotive industry through the lens of Porter
s Five Forces can be helpful in understanding the forces at play.
Degree of Rivalry
Despite the high concentration ratios seen in the U.S. market, which typically signify that a lesser
degree of competition is seen in the industry, rivalry in the U.S. and the global automotive industry

The switching costs associated with using a different mode of transportation, such as train, may be
high in terms of personal time (i.e., independence), convenience, and utility (e.g., luggage capacity),
but not necessarily monetarily (e.g., round trip train fare on MARTA would most likely be less
expensive than the cost of fuel consumed on a similar round trip, daily parking, car insurance, and
maintenance).
The exception to this statement occurs in the global urban areas with high population densities. In
these areas, the substitutes available (e.g., walking, mass transit, bicycles, etc.) can be less costly
than automobiles and thus alternative modes of transportation are often preferred.
Also, there are inherent underlying social and cultural attitudes that keep people from owning
automobiles in some parts of the world. Many nations are not as spread out or as mobile as the
U.S.; they are constrained either by geography, race, class, or religion and the need for personal
transportation is not as great, yet. The American dream of a car [or two] in every garage is not
what the rest of the world currently wants or needs. However, the marketing arms of the global
automotive manufacturers are certainly working very hard to change this paradigm, and with
unprecedented production volumes world wide, all signs indicate that they are succeeding. Most

There were two copyright plagiarizing cases against this particular song. Two by Christopher
Selletti and another by Rhonda Dimmer. Both cases took place in 1993 and 1996. Selletti
claimed that he presented the song Hero in the form of a poem to someone named Sly Stone.
Sly and Selletti lost contact over the years causing Seletti to perform a poor man s copyright.
This consisted of Seletti mailing himself a copy of his own lyrics. Selletti came across Carey s
version of Hero on the radio three years later and realized the lyrics were similar to his. Carey
provided proof to prove her innocence in court, by providing a notebook with the song dated
back to November 20, 1992. The song was intended for the use of a soundtrack for a film called
Hero. Selletti s attorney then provided proof that Carey completed the lyrics prior to the
October 1992 release date of the film. Due to that fact that proof was brought forth to the court,
the judge dismissed the case against Carey. Many years later Selettie used a different attorney
and tried to sue Carey again. In all efforts, the judge dismissed the case. Rhonda Dimmmer

A Short Note On Chronic And Chronic Illness
Ms. Jones has a both acute and chronic illness which makes her situation more complex. The
acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level
of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care.
Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes.
Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb
level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous
antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and
systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario
does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by
assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical
surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia
could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of
her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However,
medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions.
Therefore, more of a palliative or hospice care path may be indicated versus medical and surgical
acute care. According to our text, Ms. Jones has not had a mini mental

The Chemistry Of Diffusion Of Osmosis
Diffusion is the random movement of particles, caused by kinetic energy, from an area of higher
concentration to an area of lower concentration. Once the two substances are in equilibrium,
diffusion still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is
equal across both sides. Osmosisis the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable
membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to
pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by
cells, with uses such as the absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar
solute solvent ratio, to prevent rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in
turgor pressure, and in osmotic pressure. Tugor pressure is the pressure exerted on the cytoplasm on
the cellcaused by the intake or expulsion of water. Osmotic pressure is the pressure of the water
If the turgor pressure in a cell is too great, than the cell may explode. If the turgor pressure inside
the cell is too low, the cell will shrivel. Potatoes are vegetables that are grown under the surface of

The Importance Of Life In A Boarding School
Boarding school compares to an exclusive club as there is a huge advantage of attending
boarding school for students can garner social and cultural capital. Being in a boarding school,
in of itself, is a privilege. However, the students themselves in Old School see privilege tied
strictly to socioeconomic background. Nonetheless, students divide themselves between the
disadvantaged and privileged, while others put on a facade to appear more wealthy. The book
tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a
pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s. Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer,
competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of famous authors and poets like Ernest
Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force students to worry with their social
status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are utopian in nature so not to reveal
his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from upper class backgrounds
experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to worry about an
empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes from a
long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student. In
the opening of the novel, the narrator notes that class is a depth of ease in certain boys, their innate
affable assurance that they would not have to struggle for a place in the world,

Martha Graham was known as the mother of American dance. She was born on May 11,
1894 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. At fourteen she moved with her family to California and began
dancing. The first dance recital she saw was in Los Angeles, California by choreographer and dance
pioneer, Ruth St. Denis. When Graham was twenty two years old she joined the Denishawn school
and dance troupe. The school of Ruth St. Denis and

In this, she played a virgin, who represented the independent woman. She danced in Primitive
Mysteries after she visited the American

Primitive Mysteries she continued to stick with the American theme. The most influential American
themed dances were Appalachian Spring, American
Document and Frontier. The American Document was a dance that used the Bible as well as the
Declaration of Independence as inspiration. There was more speaking in this show than in any
other. The narrator spoke alternate lines from the sermons of the Bible. The narrator also spoke
about American History including passages from The Declaration of

Appalachian Spring was one of her most famous shows. The American Theme is portrayed in this
dance, through the marriage of an American couple, beginning their lives together on the
American Frontier. The dance was popular when it was introduced to the public and is still known
as one of her best pieces today. The Frontier was the first of the American Theme. It was a solo
performance choreographed and danced by Graham. The Frontier was the first time she used Isamu
Noguchi to sculpt her set. It was the first time a sculptor was used in modern dance. The set he
designed captured the vastness of the American Frontier. Graham was not the only dancer and

The Funeral Of Julius Caesar
The Funeral Speeches in Julius Caesar Words have great power and astounding capability when
the wielder uses them to their true advantage. William Shakespeare is a revered writer of the
Renaissance Era, and his work continues to be used and influential today. In his play Julius
Caesar, two speakers use their ability with words to turn the opinion of their audience, ultimately
starting a war. Through analysing their tactics as well as the words themselves we can more
fully understanding why it ended as it did; more importantly, we can also understand speaking
styles, when to implement each, and how they impacted their citizens so thoroughly. These
speeches occurred right after Caesar s assassination. Brutus spoke first, then left. Marc Antony
gave a speech following his, with his own unique tactics. It was the combination of these two
speeches that resulted in the resolution of the play. As I have previously stated, Brutus was the
first to speak. He spun a beautiful tale, using logos as his primary form of persuasion. He said
things such as, Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. () These statements
painted him to be the noblest of men. He wanted the townspeople to believe his was in the right,
and did it solely for their benefit. The reasons for the assassination were stated clearly and in a
mechanical sense, it seemed none could argue with his logic. He offered to commit suicide and a
citizen promptly shouted, Live, Brutus! live, live! (), demonstrating

The affect of harassment on Adolescents
Children in the United States who experience harassment from grades seven through twelve are

According to Hill and Kearl (2011 pg. 3), harassment has been an unfortunate problem in high
schools and middle schools in the United States. Harassment has a broad definition and has different
meanings varying from state to state. Harassment for the purpose of this essay is referred to as
annoying someone persistently and creating an unpleasant situation by uninvited and unwelcome

their victims suffer from self esteem issues throughout childhood.
Harassment has become a part of student s daily life in grades seven through twelve according

include crude jokes, sexual comments, or obscene gestures to one another. Physical harassment is
also common in addition to the more common verbal harassment. Harassment is harmful to both

Whirling in the air like a doughnut . (P.579) The frog was named Dan l Webster. Another story
was when Jim Smiley put Dan l on the floor and said, Flies, Dan l, flies! (P.579) and Dan l would
leap off the ground and catch a fly on the counter and land right back down.
The most famous story about Smiley and his frog was when Dan l didn t jump. One day, a
stranger came to town. He questioned what was in a box Smiley was carrying. It was the frog,
Dan l Webster. He didn t think the frog was anything special, so Smiley decided to prove the
stranger wrong. He went to the swap and caught another frog then quickly returned to the stranger.
They bet $40 dollars and started the race. The new frog jumped away immediately but Dan l
Webster didn t move at all. The Stranger walked away with the cash. When Smiley investigated
Dan l, there was a huge amount of quail shot. Smiley gave chase after the stranger but he could not

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Analysis
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is about the Green Knight coming to a feast at King Arthur s
table, and wanting to challenge the King to a game. The game was a game unlike many others, it
was about beheading. The King accepts the challenge, but while he is holding the axe to swing at
the Green Knight, Sir Gawainsteps in, takes the ax and beheads the Green Knight himself.
The Green Knight s bloody head laid on the ground, but to Sir Gawain s shock, the Green Knight
picked up his head and placed it back on his body. He reminded Sir Gawain that he had accepted
the challenge so, Sir Gawain himself had to come find the Green Knight in one year at his chapel,
so the he can then behead Sir Gawain. By accepting this challenge, Sir Gawain shows courage and
maturity and what he has learned is not to trust but regardless, he has gained confidence. ... Show

Why Panera Bread Is The Healthiest Fast Food Alternative
Begging the question is a type of logical fallacy that avoids the argumentative process (McInerny
109). An example of a begging the question fallacy is when my friend argued for his point that
Panera Bread is the healthiest fast food alternative restaurant. My friend, Tim, stated that Salads and
fruit smoothies are the healthiest types of food. Since, Panera Bread serves several types of salads
and fruit smoothies this makes Panera Bread the healthiest fast food alternative. Tim s statement
exemplifies begging the question fallacybecause the conclusion, Panera Bread is the healthiest fast
food alternative , does not have logical premise and reasoning behind the argument. Tim did not
provide any factual information proving the fact that salads and fruit smoothies are the healthiest
food option. Also, Tim did not compare the actual calories in the food at Panera compared to a
typical fast food restaurant, such as McDonalds. In summation, Tim completely ignored the
reasoning that backed up his conclusion, which was Panera is the healthiest fast food alternative,
thus making the conclusion a begging the question fallacy.
A false assumption is a type of fallacy where a reputable assumption is made and can be
demonstrated to be false with facts stacked against the assumption (McInerny 111). A false
assumption can also be made when an arguer is assuming that his or her audience has a knowledge
of certain kind when in fact the audience doesn t (McInerny 112). An example

Iron Synthesis
The commonly used chemical formula for iron phosphate is FePO4 and this compound has two
structures the О± phase at lower temperatures, and the ОІ phase at high temperatures. The
compound FePO4 changes its structure when temperature is increased from 294K to 1073K. When
temperature is low, the shape of О± phase FePO4 is tetrahedral and comparable to that of an О±
quartz whereas the ОІ phase displays first order transition at a temperature of 980K and transforms
into a dense, octahedral shape. When temperature rises, the cells in FePO4 expands as its volume
and parameters increase. This can be attributed to the thermal expansion of the О± phase structure.
However, this transformation in cell parameters due to a change in temperature is not linear.... Show

Measureable analysis of FePO4 has been done using powder neutron diffraction measurements with
temperature being varied from 294K TO 1073K. At low temperatures, the FePO4 unit structure
exists as an О± quartz and gradually changes into the form of the ОІ phase FePO4. This is the
result of angular vibrations in the О± FePO4 affecting the unit structure at high temperature. The
О± to ОІ transformation takes place at the phase transition temperature of 980K. At high
temperatures, the tetrahedral tilt angle and intertetrahedral bridging angle changes and it is
believed that tetrahedral distortion occurs when the angle of the bonds and its physical parameters
such as bond length and volume changes. This is exhibited in the FePO4 О± to ОІ transformation
when its tetrahedral tilt angle falls sharply when the Fe O P bridging angle

The Anti-Saloon League Summary
Historiography is constantly changing, because each generation of historians is changing the way
they look and write about an event. The Anti Saloon League (ASL) is a popular topic for historian
to write about, because of the League s contribution to making prohibition legal. There were many
ways that the League went about doing this including social and political reform on a local and
national level. This paper will strive to look at the literature on the Anti Saloon league, mostly
focusing on monographs, and how the writing style and perspective about this topic have changed
over time. The four main sources that this work will be centered on is Ernest Cherrington s History
of the Anti Saloon League (1913), Peter Odegard s Pressure Politics:... Show more content on

Especially with the brewers policing themselves and cutting down on saloons that were not
selling approved types of alcohol by them, or were opened using the revenue of a saloon. Kerr
acknowledges the Brewers Association for trying to get their message out in DC, because they
assumed that is where the act was being voted on, but they were wrong. Individual states had been
convinced of the moral, ethical and economic issues associated with the saloon and because of the
Brewers Associations misguided efforts, they lose the battle against prohibition. Kerr s finding
establish a new line of thought that many people inside the Anti Saloon league did not agree with
the legalistic, coercive approach to prohibition. Instead many leaders including Cherrington thought
that if the ASL provided outreach, reform and educational services than people would voluntarily
choose not to drink. This split in ideals is what ended the Anti Saloon League. In the end despite
the illegal trafficking of alcohol, Prohibition work at the end of the day. In the high of Prohibition
consumption of alcohol was lowered from one third to

Hip hop artist Joey Bada$$ once said, They say one man s trash is another man s treasure. No,
one man s clever, one knows no better. Joey couldn t be more right, when it comes to him saying
those words. This paper is about how I came to posses my Grandmother s old fur coat along with
her luggage bag and why I treasure them deeply. When I was about ten years old my
Grandmother, on my Mother s side, passed away. Over the years she had accumulated hundreds
of collectable Barbies that were meant to be passed down to me when she died, however not
everyone was happy about that. At ten years old I now lived with my Dad, who despised my
Mother s side of the family, and there was no way he was going to take me to get what was mine.

One day when I was home alone I ventured to the attic and found that not much remained. As I
walked around up there something caught my interest, it was an old luggage bag with my
Grandmother s name on the tag. It looked to be from the 1960 s or 70 s. I decided to open it up
and found a gorgeous white fur coat in a clear plastic bag. I quickly took it out of its bag and
tried it on. I knew that I would be the only person to fit it in the family because I am the only one

How Did Thomas Jefferson Reduce Them Under Absolute Despotism
Thomas Jefferson wanted to separate from the British for many reasons, including, Usurpation,
Despotism and Violence. The British Government was taking away things from the colonists and
taking credit from them. Jefferson said, But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, it is their
right, it is their duty, to throw off such government . It is obvious the Government was taking things
away from the colonists, as Jefferson mentions it more than once saying, reduce them under

property. The King would take their achievements and claim them as his own. The Government was

F. Scott Fitzgerald s Eyes Annabel
In 1915 a fourteen year old girl received a letter from her nineteen year old brother. The girl s
name was Annabelle and her brother s F. Scott Fitzgerald. In Fitzgerald s eyes Annabel was a bit
socially inept, and his opening words to her were merciless, You are as you know, not a good
conversationalist and you might very naturally ask, What do boys like to talk about? Boys like to
talk about themselves much more than girls... (Fitzgerald qtd in F. Scott Fitzgerald289) Fitzgerald

counsels her to Learn to be worldly. Remember in all society nine girls out of ten marry for
money and nine men out of ten are fools . And if ten pages of criticisms and unwelcome
recommendations weren t enough, he threatened to send more, I ll discuss dancing in a later
letter . A few years later Fitzgerald scribbled Basis of Bernice on the heading of the letter s first

People Face Trade Courses Essay
People Face Trade Offs
In this assignment, it is evident that I have only one semester left to graduate and I have enough
finances to do a maximum of four courses. Three of the courses are required courses and the last
course slot is elective. I will have to narrow down my choices to three electives and based on two
economic decision making principles, I will provide and support my choice.
To begin with, in the scenario, I have three different courses and I have to select one. The three
courses include business management, mathematics, and economics. These courses provide and
include different benefits and disadvantages and my choice should predict high benefits and
incentives. There are various jobs related to mathematics such as high school math teacher, market
research analysis, and inventory control specialist. Pursuing mathematics will also improve my
arithmetic skills. However, mathematics is very complex and will require a lot of time.
On the other hand, economics degree course provides a range of advantages as well as
disadvantages. For example, after pursuing the economic course, I will work either as an accountant
or as financial analysts as well as investment analysts and statistician. Economics course will
provide me with the opportunity to learn new investment skills, capital management and ability to
analyze economic trends and patterns. Despite this, economics is a very complex and demanding
course. In addition, economics mostly involves tiresome work

The Athenian Golden Age
As all the states, the city state of Athens grew, flourished, entered its golden age and then fall. There
were three main circumstances, which led to the end of the Greek culture in common and the
Athenian Golden Age particularly. They are represented in the chronic warfare, the spread of
Greek culture outside of Greece, and the farmers are drawn to the cities. The arrogance of Athens
and its way in treating its allies in the Delian Leaguecould be reasons for the end of the Athenian
Golden Age. (Butler, 2007). I will choose the chronic warfare to discuss since I believe that wars
are the major reason, which led to the collapse of many if not all, nations and states through the
history. The city states in the ancient Greecewere tied to either

What Led Up To The 1917 Russian Revolution
Russian Revolution Essay.
Throughout history there have been many revolutions between the population of a country and its
government. People always want change, usually in the directions of freedom, peace and equality
and in the lead up to the 1917 Russian revolution; there were a variety of social, political and
economic situations that all played their part.
In the years leading up to the revolution, Russia had been involved in a series of wars. The
Crimean war, The Russo Turkish war, The Russo Japanese war and the First World War. Russia
had been defeated in all except the war with Turkey and its government and economy had the scars
to prove it. A severe lack of food and poor living conditions amongst the peasant population led...

Petersburg was submitted to Nicholas II. A large group had formed in front of his palace and
claimed that they would let themselves be shot if the demands of the people were not met, saying,
We do not regret this sacrifice, we are glad to make it. Among the demands were: The immediate
release of all who have suffered for religious, political, and peasant disorders. Universal education
financed by the state. Equality for everyone. The separation of church and state. Immediate freedom
for consumers and trade unions. And the introduction of a minimum wage. It was the large number
of these groups and the constant in fighting amongst them that caused their strikes and protests to
overthrow the Tsar to fail.
The Tsar and his elite began to understand that change was required before they lost complete
control. By signing the October manifesto in 1905 Tsar Nicolas II turned Russia into a
constitutional monarchy, gave its citizens civil rights and gave the Duma, Russia s parliament
legislative power. It wasn t long before the 1905 revolution had died down, when Nicholas II
disbanded the Duma and violated many of the civil liberties promises in the October manifesto.
As a result of the Tsar reneging on his promises, by 1917 another revolution had begun, not only
to highlight the lack food and civil rights as in the 1905 revolution but also from the violations of
the October manifesto. In March of 1917 workers in Petrograd went on strike. Unlike the protests
of 1905, the

The Challenges Of Canada s Health Care System
There are 196 countries with healthcare systems across the world... Canada s healthcare system
is ranked 30th overall. Most critics keep health care related debates to the small scope of Canada
and the USA. However, neither the USA nor Canada s systems are ranked in the top 25 for
overall efficiency (The Patient Factor). In order for Canada s healthcare system to improve, there
must be changes made in regards to major problems; financial aspects, timely access, and the doctor
shortages. Evidence shows that the best healthcare systems in the world are founded on a strong
primary care system (TheStar.com). Perhaps Canada can learn from these countries that are ranked

This survey included over 3,700 physicians in eight different countries. The results showed
Canada continuously had the lowest overall adaption rate; early adaption of technologies is a key
element to sustaining healthcare systems (Williams). Canada is a slow adapter of innovative
technologies that could enhance the quality of health care services and improve the health and
quality of life of Canadians (Daniel Muzyka). There is plenty of evidence to validate that many
Canadians are incorrect in believing that they have the best healthcare system in the world .
Spending on healthcare in Canada continues to outpace the government spending program in
growth and is limiting public investments in other areas that would make for an overall more
effective society (Daniel Muzyka). Canada is the 10th highest spender, spending an average of
$2,600 per Canadian per year. Recent studies by Brett Skinner have looked at trends in the annual
growth rates for provincial healthcare expenditures and total government revenue. He found that if
recent trends persist, provincial government spending on healthcare will consume more than half
of total revenues from all sources in six of 10 provinces by the year 2020 (Neil Stuart). Due to the
over spending factor and tight budgets, several healthcare institutions in Canada are cutting back
costs any way they can. Specifically, in

  • 3. Effect Of Economic Growth On Energy Demand And The... Effect of Economic Growth in China on Energy Demand and the Environment Introduction China has grown economically to be one of the most important countries in the world; with over 1.3 billion population and the sheer size of the country, this economic phenomenon is unprecedented. If only this were the only growth China has experienced, then it would really be a phenomenon, sadly, it is not. China s drastic growth in the economy has also lead to a few other drastic growths, but it is not for the better, in fact, it is for the worse. The energy consumption level and the pollution level in China has grew much faster than the growth of GDP since 2002. In 2000, China has set a goal to quadruple its GDP by 2020, which could mean that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the past thirty years, China s GDP has been growth at a substantial rate 10% annually, when totaling that up for 30 years, that would be an increase over 17 times their original economy before their economic boom. China s economy is ranked second to the U.S and it is the world s largest exporter and the world s second largest importer. This sounds magnificent, of course, until we bring into the statistics of China s pollution level increase within those thirty years as well. Before China s economic boom, their economy pollution was only minimal, after the economic reform implemented by Deng Xiao Ping, the economy started to grow, and pollution started to soar as well. From 1980 to 2001, China s economy have grown at 10% GDP, but its energy consumption have not grown as fast, meaning there were less pollution than growth. China had excess energy to sell to the energy market in the world prior to 2002. After 2002, China s demand for energy skyrocketed, which mean their pollution also skyrocketed to an unprecedented level in China s history. By 2007, China had surpass U.S at the number one spot in pollution, in which it emits 20 million tons of Co2 annually, and this number is predicted to increase even more, but their economy was still only ranked second. Which means that China had generating more pollution per dollar GDP than the U.S. China is a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Wipro Case Are Two CEOs Better Than One? The case of WIPRO Take an organization with business divisions that overlap, add rapid growth, and flavour with problems arising from an uncertain environment. What you have, potentially, is a recipe for confusion. At Wipro, India s largest software services firm, however, little evidence of confusion has appeared despite the turbulent winds that have buffeted the company for the past few years. When former CEO Vivek Paul left to join Texas Pacific Group, a private equity firm, Wipro has had no CEO since Paul s departure, with Chairman Azim Premji who owns more than 80% of this Mumbai and New York listed company combining the roles of both chairman and CEO. Wipro was established in 1947. It was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We do believe that the power of two will help us so far as we are concerned, given our environment. Adds Paranjpe: Given the enormity of the opportunity and the task at hand, we felt it was worthwhile to have two of us trying to drive this rather than leave it to one individual to try and do [everything]. And from a personal perspective, it can get very lonely at the top. So, having two people helps. The business environment in India gives an impetus to this model of collegial and collective leadership. The premium aspect for companies doing business in India is the combination of access to a highly skilled labour pool and attractive wage levels. The penalties are the uncertainties in the business environment with respect to infrastructure, power availability, urban transportation and stability in policy regimes. Companies like Wipro need two CEOs because of the complexity of doing business in India. On the one hand, you have to manage offshore client relationships and business development by staying really closely tuned to what is happening in international markets. On the other, you have to be embedded in India to manage the country specific challenges. Sometimes these two faces of complexity are quite divorced from each other; they are different sets of challenges. It may be difficult for the same CEO to handle both ends. Another reason such a ... • 5. Who was Napoleon Essay Napoleon was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, on 15 August 1769, the second of Carlo and Letizia Bonaparte s eight children. In 1778, Napoleon began his education at Autun and later attended school in Brienne, excelling in mathematics and science. Following a year s study at the Ecole Militaire in Paris, he was commissioned in the artillery in 1785. The year 1789 saw the outbreak of the French revolution, which created an atmosphere of opportunity that would not have existed under the Bourbons, and Napoleon was to make the most of it. The first opportunity came in 1793, when Bonaparte was promoted to brigadier general for the decisive part he played in the siege of Toulon, which ousted the British from mainland France. He signed a Concordat with the Pope in 1801 which restored religion to France, but his greatest achievement was the Civil Code which in part is still used today. His growing popularity resulted in his being proclaimed Emperor in 1804. At the coronation, Napoleon crowned himself, taking the crown from the Pope in a symbolic manner to show that power stemmed from the state and not the church as with previous monarchs. It was an uneasy peace however, and plans were made to invade Britain by crossing the English Channel, but these were abandoned when Napoleon marched his highly trained Grand ArmГ©e into central Europe to meet the converging forces of Austria and Russia. Capturing a large part of the Austrian army at Ulm, Napoleon crossed the Danube to face the remaining Austrians and the Russians at Austerlitz. The result was a decisive victory known as the Battle Of Three Emperors on 2 December 1805. Austria sued for peace, but a new coalition was formed of Britain, Russia and Prussia. Napoleon defeated the Prussians at Jena in 1806, and the Russians at Friedland in 1807. Following these victories, Napoleon was at the pinnacle of his career. With a great display of pomp he met the Tsar of Russia at Tilsit and a new Franco/Russian alliance was born. Portions of Prussia were divided into new states, and Napoleon later announced a new policy of economic warfare that was to become known as the Continental System. Its goal was to ... Surprisingly, this idea is shared between three uncommon literature works. Within Scott Westerfeld s Uglies, the main character, Tally Youngblood, triumphed through an exhausting and tough journey to a place that leads her to learn about self worth. Furthermore, The Third and Final Continent describes the narrator, Jhumpa Lahiri s, adventure of his life through three continents and poor living conditions during that time resulting in Jhumpa Lahiri finally finding a value in life. As a country we eat an average of twenty five billion chicken wings per year, so we can see chicken wings are a food many people have come to enjoy enjoy just half a century. A Buffalo wing is a chicken wingette or drumette that is deep fried, unbreaded, and coated in vinegar based cayenne pepper hot sauce and butter. (Wells Lynch). They have grown in popularity immensely and have now been considered a classic American food for over half a century now. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approximately fifty three years ago on March 4, 1964 Teressa Bellissimo, the owner of The Anchor Bar, created the very first batch of chicken wings out of necessity. Teressa Bellissimo basically had to put together the recipe after wrongfully receiving a shipment of wings instead of chicken. By this time, the wings of the chicken were one of the least desired parts of the chicken. Today, the bar that still claims to be the home of the original Buffalowing, and its modern day menu offers up a purportedly authentic story from the son of the original owners, claiming that his mom made the wings as a one off late night snack for him and his friends (Thompson). Since chicken wings were once considered a scrap meat and were really cheap she typically used them in her soups at the bar. On this particular night she was trying to get rid of her extra chicken wings because she was not going to be able to make enough soup to use them all up. Therefore, she decided to deep fry the extra wings that she was not going to use in the soup. Once they were cooked to a crispy golden brown she tossed them in some hot sauce and served them to the late night customers that were present. That night she served the wings with a couple celery sticks and a small cup of blue cheese. This traditional side choice compliments the buffalo wings so well and it stuck. Today this is something that is still carried on by all restaurants that serve chicken wings. As pointed out previously, chicken wings can come in different styles such as traditional naked, traditional breaded, and boneless. Yet, The Anchor Bar is known for creating the naked boneless wing, which has no breading on the outside of the meet. • 9. The Structure Of The Circus Maximus In Ancient Rome In Rome there was a large stadium called the Circus Maximus . The Circus Maximus was a mass entertainment venue used to hold chariot races, gladiatorial competitions, religious ceremonies and athletic events. The Circus Maximus was built on the level ground of the Valley of Murcia , between Rome s Aventine and Palatine Hills. In Rome s early days, the valley would have been rich agricultural land, prone to flooding from the river Tiber and the stream which divided the valley. The circus was founded by King Tarquinius Priscus in the 6th Century BC, when the marshy valley separating Palatine hill from Aventine Hill was drained just for its construction. The circus maximus was the first and largest Chariot Racing Stadium built in ancient Rome. It measured 621 m in length and 118 m in width, and could seat approximately 250,000 people, which was over a quarter of the city s population. The design of the Circus Maximus included a stretched oval arena with a flat end, which was where the starting blocks were located. Chariots would enter the track when metal barriers were lifted. A lavish luxury box was built high upon Palatine hill specifically for the Emperor to oversee the games. The Circus Maximus design was lacking in one way, as the city grew in population and wealth, the seating in the Circus had to grow to accommodate them. Stone counterparts quickly replaced the original wooden seats. Gaius Julius Caesar ordered the construction and seating was increased to 150,000 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Harsh Stereotypes Of Cafeteria Food And Negative... The harsh stereotypes of cafeteria food and negative connotations of assumedly horrible lunch ladies are as old and traditional as the American school system itself. Interestingly, the concept of the school lunch is one that has been revolutionized over and over to fit the needs of American youth. The overarching program that oversees and occasionally refurbishes the American schooltime mealis the National SchoolLunchProgram, put on through the United States Department of Agriculture. In 2012 this program provided over 30 million children meals that were nutritionally sensible as well as fiscally responsible (United States Department of Agriculture, 2013), frequently offering these meals at reduced or no cost to children otherwise unable to afford them. In addition to keeping costs low to accommodate low income students, the National School Lunch program has found that it must also balance an increase in highly nutritious foods to battle childhood obesity, with the task of appeasing the increasingly picky eaters that comprise American youth. It is within the realm of trying to strike this precarious and delicate balance that the National School Lunch Program has created the problem of children refusing the nutrients they are being provided, therefore wasting insurmountable amounts of food and learning incredibly unhealthy nutritional habits along the way. The National School Lunch Program was created to ensure that all children, regardless of age, race, socioeconomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to this, Congress was not able to generate enough money to operate despite the land ordinances they created. This eventually led to a revolt, which came to be known as Shay s Rebellion (1786). This was a revolt against the government for failing to issue paper money, ease taxes, and prevent property foreclosures. For my research paper, I have chosen to explore the differences and similarities between the English language and the German language. My interest in this subject area is mainly due to my own nationality and roots in Germany. My grandma (or should I say meine omi), is from Gersfeld, Germany and she immigrated to the United States during World War II. My research has conducted many results that yield both similarities and differences between the languages. One of the most prominent difference between the two languages is that German is spoken by about 95 million people worldwide, and is the official language of Germany, Austria and parts of Switzerland (Shoebottom, 1), meanwhile statistics show that English is the third most widespread native language in the world, after Standard Chinese and Spanish. It is the most widely learned second language and is either the official language or one of the official languages in almost 60 sovereign states (Shoebottom, 1). Contrary to this large disparity, according to Charles Russ, author of Historical German Phonology and Morphology, English and German both belong to the Germanic branch of the Indo European language family (1), this results in numerous similarities between the languages; including the words: export, partner, blue jeans, computer, teenager, and jet (Garry and Rubino, 244). The exception to this statement occurs in the global urban areas with high population densities. In these areas, the substitutes available (e.g., walking, mass transit, bicycles, etc.) can be less costly than automobiles and thus alternative modes of transportation are often preferred. Also, there are inherent underlying social and cultural attitudes that keep people from owning automobiles in some parts of the world. The acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care. Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes. Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However, medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions. Osmosisis the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by cells, with uses such as the absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar solute solvent ratio, to prevent rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in turgor pressure, and in osmotic pressure. The book tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s. Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer, competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of famous authors and poets like Ernest Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force students to worry with their social status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are utopian in nature so not to reveal his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from upper class backgrounds experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to worry about an empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes from a long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student. In the opening of the novel, the narrator notes that class is a depth of ease in certain boys, their innate affable assurance that they would not have to struggle for a place in the world, ... William Shakespeare is a revered writer of the Renaissance Era, and his work continues to be used and influential today. In his play Julius Caesar, two speakers use their ability with words to turn the opinion of their audience, ultimately starting a war. Through analysing their tactics as well as the words themselves we can more fully understanding why it ended as it did; more importantly, we can also understand speaking styles, when to implement each, and how they impacted their citizens so thoroughly. These speeches occurred right after Caesar s assassination. Brutus spoke first, then left. Marc Antony gave a speech following his, with his own unique tactics. It was the combination of these two speeches that resulted in the resolution of the play. As I have previously stated, Brutus was the first to speak. He spun a beautiful tale, using logos as his primary form of persuasion. He said things such as, Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. () These statements painted him to be the noblest of men. He wanted the townspeople to believe his was in the right, and did it solely for their benefit. The reasons for the assassination were stated clearly and in a mechanical sense, it seemed none could argue with his logic. An example of a begging the question fallacy is when my friend argued for his point that Panera Bread is the healthiest fast food alternative restaurant. My friend, Tim, stated that Salads and fruit smoothies are the healthiest types of food. Since, Panera Bread serves several types of salads and fruit smoothies this makes Panera Bread the healthiest fast food alternative. Tim s statement exemplifies begging the question fallacybecause the conclusion, Panera Bread is the healthiest fast food alternative , does not have logical premise and reasoning behind the argument. Tim did not provide any factual information proving the fact that salads and fruit smoothies are the healthiest food option. Also, Tim did not compare the actual calories in the food at Panera compared to a typical fast food restaurant, such as McDonalds. In summation, Tim completely ignored the reasoning that backed up his conclusion, which was Panera is the healthiest fast food alternative, thus making the conclusion a begging the question fallacy. A false assumption is a type of fallacy where a reputable assumption is made and can be demonstrated to be false with facts stacked against the assumption (McInerny 111). The compound FePO4 changes its structure when temperature is increased from 294K to 1073K. When temperature is low, the shape of О± phase FePO4 is tetrahedral and comparable to that of an О± quartz whereas the ОІ phase displays first order transition at a temperature of 980K and transforms into a dense, octahedral shape. When temperature rises, the cells in FePO4 expands as its volume and parameters increase. This can be attributed to the thermal expansion of the О± phase structure. However, this transformation in cell parameters due to a change in temperature is not linear.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the result of angular vibrations in the О± FePO4 affecting the unit structure at high temperature. The О± to ОІ transformation takes place at the phase transition temperature of 980K. At high temperatures, the tetrahedral tilt angle and intertetrahedral bridging angle changes and it is believed that tetrahedral distortion occurs when the angle of the bonds and its physical parameters such as bond length and volume changes. Canada is a slow adapter of innovative technologies that could enhance the quality of health care services and improve the health and quality of life of Canadians (Daniel Muzyka). There is plenty of evidence to validate that many Canadians are incorrect in believing that they have the best healthcare system in the world . Spending on healthcare in Canada continues to outpace the government spending program in growth and is limiting public investments in other areas that would make for an overall more effective society (Daniel Muzyka). Canada is the 10th highest spender, spending an average of $2,600 per Canadian per year. Recent studies by Brett Skinner have looked at trends in the annual growth rates for provincial healthcare expenditures and total government revenue. He found that if recent trends persist, provincial government spending on healthcare will consume more than half of total revenues from all sources in six of 10 provinces by the year 2020 (Neil Stuart).
