The Strategic Change Of The Chinese Economy
SUMMERIZE: We agree with the commentators about the strategic change in the Chinese economy
because only with the investment strategy there economy will not grow well, so they need to focus on
domestic market based growth on consumption expenditure and PPF will be very helpful in this, PPF
as stated above helps us to know the production conditions, production quantity and the sacrifice of
the second good s to produce first one or vice versa, this also let us know what type of maximum
goods we can produce with maximum utilization of resources. Chinese government should focus on
their market conditions, availability of resources and demand of the goods that can be produced with
those available resources, because without proper utilization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A PPF disconnects two products in economy created at any one offered time to demonstrate the
impact in the level generation of each of those products in connection to the level of creation of the
other. PPC can be of three types (concave, linear and convex) which can be differentiated on the usage
of resources and the opportunity costs. Concave curve: Shows the increase in opportunity cost, which
means when resources are better to produce bread as compare to house so the opportunity cost of
house will be higher than the opportunity cost of bread. (we need to sacrifice more unit of bread to
produce less no of house) Linear (straight line): This shape of graph shows that all the resources we
have are not specialize to produce any single type of material, so the opportunity cost in this is always
same as we need to sacrifice the same quantity of house for making bread throughout the line. quantity
of houses produce Y Convex curve: This type of curve shows the reduction in the opportunity cost
while producing second material, this depends on various other factors which is useful in production
process. (the above image reference is from Wikipedia) But in general we follow the concave shape of

The Human Heart
The human heart is one of the most important organs in our bodies. However, it is basically a
muscular structure that pumps blood. In this report, there will be information on the size, structure,
function, and diseases/health problems of the human heart.
The size of the human heart varies due to factors such as gender, size of the body, inheritance, and age.
However, a normal size of a person s heart is about the same size as his/her clenched fist (9cmx13cm),
and has a mass between 250 350g (approximately 300g).
The human heart has three layered walls and four cavity areas. The layers of the walls consist of: the
epicardium (outer layer), the myocardium (middle layer), and the endocardium (inner layer). The wall

The Human Lungs
Our lungs are vital organs that fuel us with a life sustaining gas: oxygen. They are also important to
ensure survival. In this report, there will be information about the size, structure, function, and
diseases/health problems of the human lungs.
The size of the human lungs varies due to gender, size of body, inheritance, and age. A common way
to measure the size of the lungs is by total lung capacity (TLC), and the average TLC for a human
adult is between 5.8 6L. The normal mass of an adult human lung is between 300 400g.
There are two lungs: the left lung, and the right lung. They are similar, and have a covering of two air
tight bags called the pleural sacs. The whole lungs are divided into lobes. The right lung has three
lobes, and the left lung has two lobes. The right lung s lobes are: the superior lobe, the inferior lobe,
and the middle lobe. On the other hand, the left lung s lobes include: the superior lobe, and the inferior
lobe. In each lung, the inferior and superior lobe is separated by the oblique fissure, and, in the right
lung, the superior and middle lobe is separated by the horizontal fissure.
The actual inside of a lung can be further divided into two zones. There is the conducting zone that
consists of the main bronchi, the lobar bronchi, the segmental bronchi, the bronchioles, and the
terminal bronchioles. There is also the respiratory zone, which is made up of the alveolar

Queen Elizabeth Procession To Blackfriar
The rebellion from Northern England also made the same fatal miscalculation of Elizabeth as the
Spanish did. In 1569, the predominantly Catholic northern part of England tried to rebel against Queen
Elizabeth, overthrow her, and put her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, whom was a Catholic, on the
throne. They expected it would be easy to overthrow her because they thought that the rest of England
would rally behind them and they would be able to over throw the weak and harmless queen, whom
loves her family to much. But, they were met with swords as the Southern England went to fight the
rebels for their queen, squashing and dismantling the rebellion. Elizabeth proved to be as ruthless as
any King, showing no signs of mercy or love that the rebellion ... Show more content on

the expectation of a woman and proved she didn t need anyone else but herself. She ignored the men
in her life telling her what to do, such as parliament telling her to produce an heir and proved to be a
strong leader. She used the expectations given to as her role in society as a woman and used them as

Dropout Age Should Be Abolished Essay
Many states throughout the country are raising the required dropout age of high school students to 18.
Elevating the mandatory age of pre graduates to 18 has been proven to encourage kids to stay in
school and lead to an auspicious future.
To lead off, students should be required to stay in school until they are 18 to set a moral imperative ,
as New Hampshire Deputy Commissioner of Education, Paul Leather states. The standard will create a
moral obligation that will boost the chance of many kids sticking through high school to go on to earn
their diploma. Some people claim that raising the minimum age is not a solution, but according to an
article in National Education Weekly, by Mia Lewis, Raising the age for exiting pre graduation may
not stop all dropouts, but it has a positive effect. The requirement will often significantly lower
dropout rates. If this were paired with relevant schooling, as Kentucky uses, it could be even more
effective in generating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision to give up on earning a high school diploma will often have a severe impact on a student
s future. Educational advocate Missy Remiss states, Those without a highschool diploma are likely to
have lower earnings, higher unemployment, lower job satisfaction they even have a higher likelihood
of ending up in jail or on public assistance. The effects of this decision will often cause problems for
the rest of the students lives. States need to do all they can to prevent this from occurring. Raising the
dropout age of students would prevent more people from living below the poverty line and cost less
for states with fewer people on public assistance. According to a data analysis from 2009 by the U.S
Department of Education, a high school dropout earns about $7,840 less than they would with a
diploma. Staying in school for just a little longer could majorly diminish this

Essay on Early American History and Traditions of Excellence
In 1607, the first colonists came to settle America and founded Jamestown Virginia. Hoping to escape
religious persecution, the Puritans followed in 1620 after trekking across the Atlantic Ocean in the
Mayflower. The first winter faced the homeless and foodless Puritans with brutal conditions. After
only being there for eight months, half of the original group died, leaving them with only four women.
Following the first harvest, those still alive celebrated their well being with the first Thanksgiving.
From 1630 to 1647, more Puritans came over and settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. At the
same time relationship tensions with the neighboring Native Americans became heightened
(Campbell, 2011, para. 5). By 1636, the first war against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 1738, the Puritan religion began to decline. Increasingly more people drifted away from the
church, or did not attend at all. Even more only went through the motions instead of having a true
relationship with the Lord. This started a religious revival, known as the Great Awaking, which swept
through the colonies. Hoping to promote this, priests delivered sermons encouraging the congregation
to devote their life to Christ. One man known for his particularly fiery sermons was Jonathan Edwards
(Campbell, 2007, para. 8). Despite all efforts, the Great Awakening failed and within a few decades
the Puritan religion vanished completely. In the years following the Great Awakening, the mainstream
of the French and Indian battles began. At the time, a massive conflict known as the Seven Years War
was occurring in Europe. The French and Indian wars were a part of this bigger war. While the treaty
of Paris ended this war in Great Britain s favor in 1763, it was only the beginning of hostilities
between the colonists and Great Britain. Great Britain used their newfound control over America to
their advantage. Wishing to alleviate the massive debt Great Britain encountered after the Seven Years
War, the King, King George III, taxed the colonists. This angered the colonists, as they did not have
any representation in the British parliament. America declared themselves free in the Declaration of
Independence in 1776 and the Revolutionary War officially broke out in 1779.

Global Business
Cross Cultural Differences in India
Western Governors University
India has become a global conduit for business as they have liberalized their economic policies over
the past 20 years. Companies are flocking to India because of many factors, including, less expensive
labor costs, increasing growth rate, and an abundance of a highly skilled workforce. These factors in
addition to other advantages have substantially increased the number of United States businesses
looking to grow beyond the U. S borders into the county of India. Dunlop Software Consultant s goal

When greeting someone it is expected that one would bow with their hands together. In the U.S.,
saying hello or goodbye with a hand wave is an acceptable gesture, yet in India a hand wave is a sign
of saying go away . When communicating with another person it is an understood rule that there
should be a one arm s length between the parties during conversation. Overall, when communicating
within the Indian Culture, there are many ways to easily offend them. Education of their culture could
have great benefits to communication and respect. When doing business or just simply greeting an
Indian person, the last thing you want to happen is offend them or their culture. Knowing there are
different ways of communicating between cultures will have a positive outcome from a business
aspect and also a social aspect. The final cross cultural difference I will discuss is the collectivist
culture of India versus the individualistic culture of the United States. India is more of a collectivist
culture, whereas the U.S. is strongly individualistic. The family is at the center of Indian society,
which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a family are brought together to live in one
household. The hierarchical nature of the Indian culture extends into the family as well, where the
head of the family makes the key decisions for the household (Kumar, 2005). An Indian s primary
loyalty usually lies with their family rather than with their

Essay On One And Done Rule
The NBA s one and done rule, stating that a player must be one calander year removed from their
graduating class before entering the NBA, is a failing the NBA and the player. If a high school player
has no intrest in playing college basketball, and wants to make a living playing basketball, let him
further his career. If the player is 18, it is unethical to force them into risking an entire year of their
basketball lives for development , and all it does is risk turning a potential generational superstar into
an injured has been with no NBA future.
First of all, the student athlete moniker is being turned into a laughable joke due to this rule. The

All of these players have been to an NBA confrence finals and everyone on this list has been to
multiple all star games and have dominated the game in some way. Why would the NBA keep this rule
when they are potentially risking the players getting hurt in college, or delay when a superstar can
enter the NBA? Imagine Lebron James commited to a college, and in a freak accident fractured his
ankle. Would the NBA ever be the same? Would we ever see a dominat Lebron like we see in todays
NBA? Would we have ever seen the star studded Warriors roster come together to try and dethrone
Lebron from his NBA dominance? These questions thankfully do not have to be answered because
Lebron James was drafted in 2003, before the One and Done rule was implemented.
Many coaches and players, and even the commisoner of the NBA himself are against the NBA s one
and done rule. Coach Mike Krzyzewski is a strong believer in eliminating the one and done rule. In
baseball, in theater, in music, if you re 18 and you re really good, you go on a different path,
Krzyzewski said during an ESPN interview. I really think that high school players should be allowed
to go. I agree with Coach K s point about how if you are talented in another subject, you are allowed
to go on a different path. For example, if an actor is incredibly gifted, you do not force them to go to
one year of acting school before you can cast them in a movie.
The One and Done rule is also unfair to

Essay on Response to Bitzer s Rhetorical Situation
In The Rhetorical Situation, Lloyd F. Bitzer argues that what makes a situation rhetorical is similar to
that which constitutes a moral action as he writes that, an act is moral because it is an act performed in
a situation of a certain kind; similarly, a work is rhetorical because it is a response to a situation of a
certain kind .(3) By defining the rhetorical situation in this way, Bitzer further contends that rhetoric is
a means to altering reality. (4) It is through the use of discourse that one is capable of changing reality
through thought and action. (4) Bitzer then elaborates upon the nature of a rhetorical situation by
explaining that rhetorical discourse enters a situation when: providing a response to its state of affairs;
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Bitzer continues in the third section of his essay, by outlining the general characteristics or
features of a rhetorical situation, it is his discussion of sophistical rhetoric that is most interesting. (11)
He notes that a sophistic situation is one where a contrived exigence is, asserted to be real... alleged
constituents are due to error or ignorance,... and [it derives] from fantasy in which exigence, audience,
and constraints may all be imaginary objects of a mind at play . (11) He concludes that, rhetoric is
distinguished from the mere craft of persuasion which, although it is a legitimate object of scientific
investigation, lacks philosophical warrant as a practical discipline . (14) While Bitzer s insights into
how one may think about the way in which rhetorical discourse acts upon and therefore alters the
reality of a situation, it is difficult to see his point in stating that the mere craft of persuasion lacks
philosophical warrant as a practical discipline. The clearest reason it seems, is implied from the
examples that Bitzer uses, none of which are theological or religious in nature, but rather the examples
he provides are usually political. Although one is left to speculate as to what categories Bitzer would
include in sophistical rhetoric (other than a play or novel), might theological and religious discourse
be subsumed under

How Did Mark Twain Mature
Mark Twain
You may know him as Mark Twain, but his parents John and Jane referred to him by his birth name
Samuel L. Clemens. Samuel was a well known American humorist, journalist, lecturer, and novelist.
Samuel wasn t known to laugh or smile much, for reasons that will be presented. He was and is most
commonly recognized for his best selling novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn. Samuel learned to take responsibility early on in his life, which helped immensely
to mature him for the success that was to come.
Clemens was born November 30th, 1835 in a tiny village in Florida, Missouri. In 1839, his family s
economic distress resulted in their move to Hannibal, Missouri, where they hoped for greater
opportunities to make more money. His father became a judge and still his debts accumulated. For the
majority of Clemens s childhood his father was constantly stressed. With great sadness, in 1847,
Clemens lost his father to pneumonia. (Quirk, Thomas)

Essays On Siddhartha
Daniel Gutierrez Honors English 4 Mr. Rodriguez 08/30/17 Siddhartha That was how everyone loved
Siddhartha. He delighted and made everybody happy. But Siddhartha was not happy. (Page 6) This is
a great example of perception vs. reality as everyone makes it seem that one person might be happy,
but inside they can be at the complete opposite state. This causes him to have the desire for more
wisdom than what he has been taught. He wanted to find out what was really important and wanted to
feel no emotion in regards to what people think of him. What is concentration? What is the ability to
leave one s body? What is fasting? What is retention of breath? It is a flight from the self, it is a brief
escape from the torment of being I , it is a brief numbing of the mind to counter pain and the
senselessness of life. (Page 9) Siddhartha is saying. that the practices of the samana are just a way of
leaving life and its problems temporarily by making their bodies undergo these hardships. They
eventually become numb with the pain and by doing so, the samana are able to leave their worries of
the real world temporarily. Yes, he thought breather deeply, I will no longer try to escape from
Siddhartha. I will learn from myself, be my own pupil; I will learn from myself the secret of
Siddhartha. (Page 32) Here Siddhartha is demonstrating that he is the only one that matters when it
comes to thoughts of who he is, and only his opinion of himself matters. Acceptance and the ability to
look into himself will lead to that road of happiness. Also, to be minimalistic as to if there is nothing
to be needed then it is not. This is something many people should take into consideration as to stay
away from being materialistic. He looked around him as if seeing the world for the first time. The
world was beautiful, strange, and mysterious. (page 39) Siddhartha Govinda left to join the Samanas
to set themselves free for enlightenment. The Samanas put out the idea that you must eliminate the
self so one can achieve spiritual fulfillment one day. Now he, too, felt belatedly for once in his life that
strongest and strangest of passions; he suffered from it, suffered pitifully, and yet he was blessed, and

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love
All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through
verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human
heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to
understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God s
love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of
Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit who subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through
the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be known can also

Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to
understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love.
Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God reveals His
attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love
through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the
regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence,
there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of
God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is
the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the
Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit
(Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption
where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980).
Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in
the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the

What Is The Symbolism In The Yellow Wallpaper

Explain Why Cell Biology Embodies All The Principles Of Life
1. Cell biology embodies all the principles of life
2. Cells are small because they are limited by the surface area to volume ratio. The volume of the cell
allows for the total number of chemical activity it carries out during an amount of time. The surface
area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. It
is also determined by the number of waste products that are able to go to the environment. The cell
must be a certain volume in order to allow for a big enough surface area to volume ratio which lets
substances in and out of the cell as well as allowing chemical reactions to occur.
3. The plasma membrane is important to cells because it is a selectively permeable barrier which does

The Necklace, Mr. Maupassant
In The Necklace Mr. Maupassant tells a story of a woman, Mrs. Loisel, who goes through many
emotions over the loss of a necklace that ends up being a fake. As she goes through these situations
Mr. Maupassant gives examples of literally elements that prove what kind of person she turns out to
be. Throughout the story Mrs. Loisel is conflicted with many problems just to realize who she became
and how she took advantage of what she already had in her life. When it turns out to be too late she
then blames her friend for letting her borrow the necklace instead of taking the responsibility of her
selfish life.
During the eighteenth century all aspects of western culture was influenced to take over the role of
women in society at the time. Women were lead to believe that men were supposed to be the primary
householders whom can do anything leaving them dependent to men. Women at the time also had to
deal with the struggles of living in social class lifestyles that dreamt of having nothing but luxuries
and higher values. Guy De Maupassant s The Necklace portrays this very situation through the
character of Mrs. Loisel with the different use of literary devices. She is stuck between wanting to live
the lifestyle and learning to live her own without certain delicacies.
A point to consider is the use of foreshadowing in Maupassant s The Necklace and how it gives away
further events in the story. With foreshadowing, the reader is given clues at the beginning of the story

Arguments Against Eugenics
The ability to promote or enhance certain capacities in the hope to develop a superior human race
connotes science fiction as well as fantasy, however the study of eugenics proves that this act of
fiction has the potential to be reality. Eugenics, or good breeding as Sir Francis Galton would say, is a
controversial topic due to the deliberation of whether its benefits outweigh the toll that it takes on
humankind. The process of eugenics can be viewed as humans ability to control the Natural Selection
process, which is the survival and reproduction of organisms with the best adaptations, such as a tree
frog s adaptation of different colouring to better blend in with their surroundings to avoid predators.

Huxley believed that the use of eugenics was a necessity to provide a solution to the problem of
overpopulation. Due to fear of a complete erosion of the world s resources, Huxley sought to use
eugenics as a means to control and regulate population increase and to achieve some sort of balance
between reproduction and production instead of uninhibited expansion (Scarfe, 2018a, 3). In order to
successfully protect the human race from these impending horrors Huxley theorised a eu selective
program which utilizes Negative and Positive Eugenics as tools to administer change. Negative
Eugenics is the enforcement of preventative actions such as sterilization to intentionally eradicate
humans who are born with abnormalities, genetic diseases, and mental deficiencies (Scarfe, 2018a, 2).
In contrast, Positive Eugenics would encourage individuals who Huxley deemed genetically well
endowed to reproduce in order to improve the human species as a whole. Several strategies that
Huxley proposed to enforce Negative Eugenics include, the diminishment of social services such as
public health care programs, or financial assistance for families who do not have desirable genetics,

awareness of his/her emotional intelligence as well as how important it can be for day to day
functioning within the work environment. This paper will go into the background and history of
emotional intelligence, talk about how it can be an important leadership tool in the nursing field, and
how I can further improve my leadership skills and growth with emotional intelligence in order to give
the reader a further understanding on the topic.
Background and definition The term emotional intelligence dates back to 1990 when two psychology
professors named John Mayer and Peter Salovey were discussing politics and certain politicians and
one of them said to the other how can someone so smart be so dumb? ; it was from there that they
realized there is more to intelligence than someone s IQ

Psychologists teach patients new coping strategies during difficult stressful times in their lives. They
conduct therapeutic interviews and provide counselling. They offer a confidential, non judgemental
place to talk and learn copying strategies for achieving better mental health.
Social Workers
Social workers within the mental health sector require further study and have had to have completed
the necessary post qualifying requirements. Once this is done they are qualified to involuntarily detain
a patient under the mental health act.
They are normally employed by social services. They have a distinctive role within multi agency
settings. They work with the patient and their families. They work with the patient with mental health
problems to help identify and realise their own needs. Working with the families and explaining to the
family what their needs are and how to accommodate them while still having a life themselves.
Social workers are also there for patients and families that may have had a negative experience within
the mental health services and make it a positive experience.
People with mental health problems can feel isolated and have problems sustaining and preserving
social contacts and social networks, it is a social workers role to coordinate and monitor care plans so
that this does not happen. They are often responsible for managing and budgeting the complete care
package, this also may include

Memo 2
One of NASA s biggest failure happened on January 28, 1986 when the space shuttle fell apart 73
seconds after being launched. Seven crew members onboard the Challenger died that day.
The day before launching NASA engineers had a meeting with the Morton Thiokol their contracting
firm to discuss the problems that would arise in launching the space shuttle in the low temperatures
forecasted for the next day. The Morton Thiokol engineers said it was unsafe for the launch of the
shuttle noting the 7 out of 24 shuttles launches in the past that had a problem with the O ring that was
related to the low temperatures. Seeing that NASA was not happy about this, Morton Thiokol engineer
Roger Boisjoly said launch unless you can prove it is unsafe. It would have made a difference if they

The hotel had opened only a year ago. In 1979 repeated designs of the rod connections were made and
there were disputes between the fabricator (Haven Steel Company) and the engineering design team

to simplify the task, this lead to increase in load on the connector and the resulting collapse of the
walkway. Here the fabricators undervalued the collective outcomes. Ethnocentrism probably arose too
and that was probably the reason for the disputes between the fabricators and engineering design team.
At the testimony the fabricators swore that they called GCE to approve the change in plan but GCE
denied any such call. It is normal human tendency to play the blame game. No one wants to take
responsibility for something bad that happens. Haven Steel probably dint see the bad future outcome
and thought they could manage everything with the change in plan. It is a case of illusion of optimism

The Evil Actions of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in...
Macbeth is a tragedy written by Shakespeare roughly between the years 1603 and 1606. It was a play
written following the death of Queen Elizabeth. The king at the time James I of England/King James
VI of Scotland was known to be a big supporter of theatre, witchcraft and demonology. Shakespeare
and his associates soon into their career became known as the King s men. The Kings ancestry was
traced back to Banquo, a character from the play.
At the beginning, Macbeth is spoken about by the three witches and we can tell that Macbeth must
have had a reputation for being popular. He is called brave Macbeth ; and is involved in bloody
conflicts. Described as the hero, we learn that Macbeth himself killed Macdonwald in a battle that

She convinces Macbeth on the night of Duncan s arrival to their castle that murdering him is the only
thing to do to make sure he does get the crown. She tells him to look innocent and follow her lead.
Only look up clear; To alter favour ever is to fear: Leave all the rest to me.
When the time comes for Macbeth to do the deed, he nearly talks himself out of it, as if he knows that
what he is about to do is wrong. We will proceed no further in this business . This is the last bit of
innocence we see from Macbeth in the play. Lady Macbeth speaks to him and she makes him feel
guilty about not murdering King Duncan. Wouldst thou have that which thou esteem st the ornament
of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting I dare not wait upon I would, Like the poor cat

in which Macbeth performs a long soliloquy. He hallucinates and sees a bloody dagger leading him
towards the bedroom where King Duncan is. This would have encouraged Macbeth even more to do
the murder, but it probably would have puzzled him too at the same time. The way I would have
staged this in a play today would be by using a projector to project an image of a dagger onto a black
back screen. You could then move the image along the screen, as if giving the effect that the dagger

Social Structures In The Film Stress, Portrait Of A Killer
The documentary by Robert Sapolsky, Stress, Portrait of a Killer, (Stress: Portrait of a Killer
[Documentary]. (2008). National Geographic.) emphasizes the dangers that are associated with
prolonged stress that we experience in our everyday lives, and situations that we expose ourselves to.
In the documentary Sapolsky travels to Africa, there he studies the baboons that live in the wild to see
how they live, react, and respond to their environment. Like humans, the baboons also have their own
social structures that determines who is the top baboon s are, and as the social structure declines what
baboons fall at the lower end of the social structure. This can be related to humans, because like the
baboons we have our upper class, upper middle class, lower middle class, working class, and poor

categorized by the same type of social structure, the higher the social rank the lower the stress, and the
lower the social rank the higher the stress. He also emphasized that while one might have a lower
social class ranking, they aren t necessarily considered high stress.

Nelson Mandel An Effective Method Of Ending Apartheid
Nelson Mandela s contribution to the destruction of apartheid in South Africa is unparalleled. He
dedicated every action of his life to unify a sectioned South Africa that showed no signs of
reformation. One of the major characteristics of Mandela s movement in particular was the notion of
unification through nonviolence. Throughout South Africa, the apartheid system was strict and
unforgiving. The origins of apartheid lied within denying blacks any political power, or any
participation in government whatsoever. From this, the National Party established a system of racial
segregation that strictly adhered to White Africans. The apartheid system was law, and was
aggressively enforced through physical and political abuse towards black South Africans. Any
opposition to the apartheid system endangered the lives of all who participated. Naturally, black South
Africans would eventually take action against the poor treatment of their superiors. However the most
important characteristic of a revolt are the principals on which it is structured. The Nonviolence
Campaign was the most effective method of ending apartheid in South Africa. Peaceful opposition
prevented unnecessary loss of life, stayed true to the original principals and morals of abolitionists,
and prevented the movement itself from falling to hypocrisy. At an early age, Nelson Mandela
recognized the importance of nonviolent protest and what it symbolized within a movement. It is
important to understand nonviolence as

Harm Reduction paper

Substance Abuse Counselling
January 18, 2012
This paper will discuss the principles and position of harm reduction. It will also examine the public
perception of the user, which has created an ineffective philosophy. Most importantly, my paper seeks
to recognize the harm of harm reduction. This discussion will highlight the lack of hope it creates in
the user. Harm reduction needs to be addressed so that a long term solution for the user can be
implemented, not just a quick fix Band Aid solution. If caregivers, counselors and the general public
do not hold more of an abstinence position on recovery they will eventually do users a disservice. I
will touch on needle exchange, safe injection sites, wet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea behind the creation of safe injection sites is that society can t cure or get rid of the drug
problem. While harm reduction may work for those not effected directly with the damages of drug
use, it encourages out of sight, out of mind compartmentalization of people who unconsciously don t
want to help the addict. This results in the addict staying in his addiction. It seems to me that such an
approach is much like facilitating drug use, which is illogical. The fact is we can t stop rape either but
we don t resort to lowering the consequences and give ways to do it. There is a concern that the users
sharing straws to snort cocaine will spread Hep C . So, should we also create a straw exchange
program? There will always be something that will cause harm with drug use.
We also have to ask if we are in line with Canada s Drug Strategy definition of harm reduction, which,
in general, is to lower sickness, death, social misery, crime, violence and economic costs. Has it
reduced the harms associated with alcohol and drugs to individuals, families and communities or is the
drug still in control? Some effects of drugs are too powerful to manage. Paranoia, a common effect of
cocaine use, can cause violent and erratic behavior. Sometimes users experience coke bugs :
imaginary bugs crawling over their skin. Heroin causes euphoria, which is followed quickly by
sadness,

Student Athletes Should Never be Tested for Drugs
Random drug testing is starting to become more frequent in schools; especially towards student
athletes. Schools have been drug testing student athletes since approximately 1995 and in 2002, the
court made it a law that high school athletes must be drug tested. There are several testing methods
that use hair, urine, oral fluids, and sweat. Urine testing is the most popular type of testing for drugs.
The debate of drug testing student athletes is still on the rise amongst people. Supporters of drug
testing student athletes believe that drug use in student athletes is becoming popular. Supporters of this
think that drug testing will help get through the athletes and that this is the most effective way to do.

If the students do not feel like they can trust school officials, who else will they go to if they don t
want to go to their parents? There needs to be a bond a trust between students and school officials, it is
very important. Drug testing student athletes can also result in false positives. Innocent students could
suffer consequences and this could affect where they go in their future, tremendously. Another issue of
drug testing student athletes is that it is also known to be ineffective. Drug testing will not point out
students who are facing drug abuse and will not be able to help them. Studies found no difference
between drug use in schools with and without testing. A 2003 study funded by the National Institute
on Drug Abuse the largest of its kind examined 94,000 students at 900 schools in the U.S. and found
no difference between levels of drug use at schools that test their students and those that do not,
(Cosner). Drug use will still be existent in high schools. Studies conclude that drug use in schools that
use testing and those that don t. In fact, students may stop using drugs easy to detect like marijuana,
and start using cocaine, heroin, and drugs similar to those. Students who really enjoy getting involved
in sports, but have a strong attraction to drugs, may end up using harder drugs so they won t get
caught. As discussed in the article on The New York Times webpage,

Analysis Of Janice Mirikitani s Suicide Note
It s easy to feel worthless. Almost every person feels this deep emotion at some time in life, but people
handle it different. Everywhere people are always judging. Judgement from parents, from family, and
even from friends is inescapable. People can tear themselves down in many ways, such as through
school, not feeling they look good enough, and even just not feeling like they re ever good enough to
be living on Earth. In Janice Mirikitani s poem Suicide Note, it talks about an Asian American student
currently in college. She tries her hardest, she wants to succeed and make her parents proud. Her
parents have high standards for her, as they want her to receive a 4.0 grade point average. Although
she gives her best effort, her grade point average is still less than a 4.0, and for that reason her parents
are not proud of her, she s not their perfect, ideal daughter. So she enters that point where she no
longer feels proud of her accomplishments, she feels worthless, and unintelligent. She decides to
commit suicide by jumping out of a window in her college dorm. In her suicide note she apologizes to
her parents for not being good enough. Suicide Note is a free form poem, it has no set stanzaic pattern,
the sentences break in unexpected places, and the structure varies throughout the poem. It uses
imagery to connect with the reader, and the stanzas are set up in way that make the lines to appear as
they are falling. Through the use of enjambment, and end stopped line the

The Martian
Written over a period of 3 years, The Martian by Andy Weir became quite the success. Originally self
published as an e book on Amazon the book later became a huge hit in the science fiction genre. This
is due to the fact that it appealed to both the casual readers and the hard core science fans. In 2014 the
book was officially published by Broadway Books. It contains a total of 369 pages
The book takes place on Mars and more specifically Acidalia Planitia, a plain in the North part of the
planet. The habitation module or Hab for short is where our survivor will be spending most of his time
while not in his rover. Another location is the Hermes, the spaceship where the rest of the crew is. The

While evacuating due to the severity of the storm the communications antenna breaks and hits Mark
Watney knocking him out. Believing him dead his crew reluctantly continue the evacuation. Waking
up to find out he is the only person on the planet Mark starts preparing his plan to survive. Using his
home made dirt and rationing his food he hopes to be able to live until the Ares 4 mission arrives a
couple of years later. Watney regains communication with NASA after bringing Pathfinder, an old
rover that died in 1997, back to life. While attempting to create water Mark creates an explosion that
causes the death of many of his crops. Realizing he will no longer have enough food to last the 3 years
of wait, NASA hastily prepares a resupply mission. Cutting some corners to save time causes some
safety procedures to be overlooked. The resupply mission ends up exploding shortly after launch.
Having little to no choice the crew aboard Hermes decide to use a manoeuver to flyby Earth and
return to Mars for Mark. Watney proceeds to the Ares 4 mission site to be able to reach the Hermes
with the Ascent Vehicle. After making modifications to the vehicle to make it lighter Mark gets ready
to return home.
Mark Watney: Main Character, is a botanist and an engineer. He is a very important part of the book.
The Crew: Other than Commander Lewis, very little is said about the crew which includes Martinez,
Beck, Johanssen and Vogel.
Commander Lewis: Head of the Ares 3 mission, Lewis is responsible for everyone. She is the one that
calls the shots and decides to reroute Hermes to go back for Mark.

Effectiveness Of A Volunteer Team Group Structure
Our intervention occurred at the group level, where we also needed to consider the inputs, design
components and outputs in order to do group level diagnosis. Here we looked at goal clarity, task
structure, functioning of the group, composition, and performance norms. Ward s volunteer team
group structure deviated widely from most for profit companies: the design components are all loosely
defined. Because Ward teams depend on volunteers it is more challenging to hold teams to any kind of
performance measures. We also looked at the individual level design components: tasks identity,
significance, autonomy, variety, and feedback. Here, too, it is difficult to hold members to
performance standards. Although we concluded that the group level performance gap was largely a
result of inadequate communication, individual outputs were also not as desired. Volunteers varied in
performance; however, you couldn t fire them. There were no repercussions for absenteeism. They
lacked KSA s and often motivation to do a good job. Showing up was the highest expectation.
Understanding all of the organizational, group and individual inputs, design components and outputs
is critical to determine effectiveness. In most companies with HR, the OD professional would likely
need to work with HR to gain this knowledge. HR is a source of data and has experience working with
line managers and staff, or at least offers a different perspective. Here is one area where the push pull
between the OD

The Beauty Of Art Essay
People have appreciated numerous forms of art over many decades and continue to analyze what art is
and how the aesthetics of it affect viewers. Audiences have gathered to ooh and ahh at art galleries,
musicals, play and ballet performances, and concerts. In fact people even travel long distances to view
world renowned tourist sites, such as the Sistine Chapel. There are billions of creations and events that
are considered art whether that art is valued by a large audience or the artist alone. Either way, art has
become a tremendously significant method of entertainment in the world today, even if one does not
recognize the entertainment as art. My own definition of art is: any form of expression that contains
effective aesthetics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beauty of art varies among individuals, but either way, it is a beautiful thing. Art is meant to
portray a multitude of emotions through words or images and those emotions strongly affect most
people. For example, Joseph M. Martin s song entitled The Awakening features a four part harmony
with lyrics that portray a dream (a nightmare rather) where the world lacks music.
Lyrics:
I dreamed a dream, a silent dream, of a land not far away
Where no bird sang, no steeples rang, and teardrops fell like rain.
I dreamed a dream; a silent dream.
I dreamed a dream of a land so filled with pride
That every song, both weak and strong, withered and died.
I dreamed a dream
No hallelujah; not one hosanna!
No song of love, no lullaby.
And no choir sang to change the world.
No pipers played, no dancers twirled.
I dreamed a dream; a silent dream.
Awake, awake!
Awake, Awake!
Awake my soul and sing, the time for praise has come.
The silence of the night has passed,
A new day has begun!
Let music never die in me;
Forever let my spirit sing!
Wherever emptiness is found let there be joy and glorious sound.
Let music never die in me; forever let my spirit sing!
Let all our voices join as one to praise the giver of the sun!
Awake, awake!
Let music live!

  • 2. The Strategic Change Of The Chinese Economy SUMMERIZE: We agree with the commentators about the strategic change in the Chinese economy because only with the investment strategy there economy will not grow well, so they need to focus on domestic market based growth on consumption expenditure and PPF will be very helpful in this, PPF as stated above helps us to know the production conditions, production quantity and the sacrifice of the second good s to produce first one or vice versa, this also let us know what type of maximum goods we can produce with maximum utilization of resources. Chinese government should focus on their market conditions, availability of resources and demand of the goods that can be produced with those available resources, because without proper utilization ... Concave curve: Shows the increase in opportunity cost, which means when resources are better to produce bread as compare to house so the opportunity cost of house will be higher than the opportunity cost of bread. (we need to sacrifice more unit of bread to produce less no of house) Linear (straight line): This shape of graph shows that all the resources we have are not specialize to produce any single type of material, so the opportunity cost in this is always same as we need to sacrifice the same quantity of house for making bread throughout the line. quantity of houses produce Y Convex curve: This type of curve shows the reduction in the opportunity cost while producing second material, this depends on various other factors which is useful in production process. In this report, there will be information about the size, structure, function, and diseases/health problems of the human lungs. The size of the human lungs varies due to gender, size of body, inheritance, and age. A common way to measure the size of the lungs is by total lung capacity (TLC), and the average TLC for a human adult is between 5.8 6L. The normal mass of an adult human lung is between 300 400g. • 4. Queen Elizabeth Procession To Blackfriar The rebellion from Northern England also made the same fatal miscalculation of Elizabeth as the Spanish did. In 1569, the predominantly Catholic northern part of England tried to rebel against Queen Elizabeth, overthrow her, and put her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, whom was a Catholic, on the throne. They expected it would be easy to overthrow her because they thought that the rest of England would rally behind them and they would be able to over throw the weak and harmless queen, whom loves her family to much. But, they were met with swords as the Southern England went to fight the rebels for their queen, squashing and dismantling the rebellion. • 5. Dropout Age Should Be Abolished Essay Many states throughout the country are raising the required dropout age of high school students to 18. Elevating the mandatory age of pre graduates to 18 has been proven to encourage kids to stay in school and lead to an auspicious future. To lead off, students should be required to stay in school until they are 18 to set a moral imperative , as New Hampshire Deputy Commissioner of Education, Paul Leather states. The standard will create a moral obligation that will boost the chance of many kids sticking through high school to go on to earn their diploma. Some people claim that raising the minimum age is not a solution, but according to an article in National Education Weekly, by Mia Lewis, Raising the age for exiting pre graduation may not stop all dropouts, but it has a positive effect. The requirement will often significantly lower dropout rates. If this were paired with relevant schooling, as Kentucky uses, it could be even more effective in generating ... Educational advocate Missy Remiss states, Those without a highschool diploma are likely to have lower earnings, higher unemployment, lower job satisfaction they even have a higher likelihood of ending up in jail or on public assistance. The effects of this decision will often cause problems for the rest of the students lives. States need to do all they can to prevent this from occurring. Raising the dropout age of students would prevent more people from living below the poverty line and cost less for states with fewer people on public assistance. • 6. Essay on Early American History and Traditions of Excellence In 1607, the first colonists came to settle America and founded Jamestown Virginia. Hoping to escape religious persecution, the Puritans followed in 1620 after trekking across the Atlantic Ocean in the Mayflower. The first winter faced the homeless and foodless Puritans with brutal conditions. After only being there for eight months, half of the original group died, leaving them with only four women. Following the first harvest, those still alive celebrated their well being with the first Thanksgiving. From 1630 to 1647, more Puritans came over and settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. At the same time relationship tensions with the neighboring Native Americans became heightened (Campbell, 2011, para. 5). By 1636, the first war against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 1738, the Puritan religion began to decline. Increasingly more people drifted away from the church, or did not attend at all. Even more only went through the motions instead of having a true relationship with the Lord. This started a religious revival, known as the Great Awaking, which swept through the colonies. Hoping to promote this, priests delivered sermons encouraging the congregation to devote their life to Christ. One man known for his particularly fiery sermons was Jonathan Edwards (Campbell, 2007, para. 8). Despite all efforts, the Great Awakening failed and within a few decades the Puritan religion vanished completely. In the years following the Great Awakening, the mainstream of the French and Indian battles began. At the time, a massive conflict known as the Seven Years War was occurring in Europe. The French and Indian wars were a part of this bigger war. While the treaty of Paris ended this war in Great Britain s favor in 1763, it was only the beginning of hostilities between the colonists and Great Britain. Great Britain used their newfound control over America to their advantage. Wishing to alleviate the massive debt Great Britain encountered after the Seven Years War, the King, King George III, taxed the colonists. This angered the colonists, as they did not have any representation in the British parliament. America declared themselves free in the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the Revolutionary War officially broke out in 1779. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Egt1 EGT1 Global Business Cross Cultural Differences in India Western Governors University India has become a global conduit for business as they have liberalized their economic policies over the past 20 years. Companies are flocking to India because of many factors, including, less expensive labor costs, increasing growth rate, and an abundance of a highly skilled workforce. These factors in addition to other advantages have substantially increased the number of United States businesses looking to grow beyond the U. S borders into the county of India. In the U.S., saying hello or goodbye with a hand wave is an acceptable gesture, yet in India a hand wave is a sign of saying go away . When communicating with another person it is an understood rule that there should be a one arm s length between the parties during conversation. Overall, when communicating within the Indian Culture, there are many ways to easily offend them. Education of their culture could have great benefits to communication and respect. When doing business or just simply greeting an Indian person, the last thing you want to happen is offend them or their culture. Knowing there are different ways of communicating between cultures will have a positive outcome from a business aspect and also a social aspect. The final cross cultural difference I will discuss is the collectivist culture of India versus the individualistic culture of the United States. India is more of a collectivist culture, whereas the U.S. is strongly individualistic. The family is at the center of Indian society, which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a family are brought together to live in one household. The hierarchical nature of the Indian culture extends into the family as well, where the head of the family makes the key decisions for the household (Kumar, 2005). Essay On One And Done Rule The NBA s one and done rule, stating that a player must be one calander year removed from their graduating class before entering the NBA, is a failing the NBA and the player. If a high school player has no intrest in playing college basketball, and wants to make a living playing basketball, let him further his career. If the player is 18, it is unethical to force them into risking an entire year of their basketball lives for development , and all it does is risk turning a potential generational superstar into an injured has been with no NBA future. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these players have been to an NBA confrence finals and everyone on this list has been to multiple all star games and have dominated the game in some way. Why would the NBA keep this rule when they are potentially risking the players getting hurt in college, or delay when a superstar can enter the NBA? Imagine Lebron James commited to a college, and in a freak accident fractured his ankle. Would the NBA ever be the same? Would we ever see a dominat Lebron like we see in todays NBA? Would we have ever seen the star studded Warriors roster come together to try and dethrone Lebron from his NBA dominance? These questions thankfully do not have to be answered because Lebron James was drafted in 2003, before the One and Done rule was implemented. Many coaches and players, and even the commisoner of the NBA himself are against the NBA s one and done rule. Coach Mike Krzyzewski is a strong believer in eliminating the one and done rule. In baseball, in theater, in music, if you re 18 and you re really good, you go on a different path, Krzyzewski said during an ESPN interview. I really think that high school players should be allowed to go. I agree with Coach K s point about how if you are talented in another subject, you are allowed to go on a different path. For example, if an actor is incredibly gifted, you do not force them to go to one year of acting school before you can cast them in a movie. The One and Done rule is also unfair to ... • 9. Essay on Response to Bitzer s Rhetorical Situation In The Rhetorical Situation, Lloyd F. Bitzer argues that what makes a situation rhetorical is similar to that which constitutes a moral action as he writes that, an act is moral because it is an act performed in a situation of a certain kind; similarly, a work is rhetorical because it is a response to a situation of a certain kind .(3) By defining the rhetorical situation in this way, Bitzer further contends that rhetoric is a means to altering reality. (4) It is through the use of discourse that one is capable of changing reality through thought and action. (4) Bitzer then elaborates upon the nature of a rhetorical situation by explaining that rhetorical discourse enters a situation when: providing a response to its state of affairs; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Bitzer continues in the third section of his essay, by outlining the general characteristics or features of a rhetorical situation, it is his discussion of sophistical rhetoric that is most interesting. (11) He notes that a sophistic situation is one where a contrived exigence is, asserted to be real... alleged constituents are due to error or ignorance,... and [it derives] from fantasy in which exigence, audience, and constraints may all be imaginary objects of a mind at play . (11) He concludes that, rhetoric is distinguished from the mere craft of persuasion which, although it is a legitimate object of scientific investigation, lacks philosophical warrant as a practical discipline . (14) While Bitzer s insights into how one may think about the way in which rhetorical discourse acts upon and therefore alters the reality of a situation, it is difficult to see his point in stating that the mere craft of persuasion lacks philosophical warrant as a practical discipline. The clearest reason it seems, is implied from the examples that Bitzer uses, none of which are theological or religious in nature, but rather the examples he provides are usually political. Although one is left to speculate as to what categories Bitzer would include in sophistical rhetoric (other than a play or novel), might theological and religious discourse be subsumed under ... Samuel was a well known American humorist, journalist, lecturer, and novelist. Samuel wasn t known to laugh or smile much, for reasons that will be presented. He was and is most commonly recognized for his best selling novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Samuel learned to take responsibility early on in his life, which helped immensely to mature him for the success that was to come. Clemens was born November 30th, 1835 in a tiny village in Florida, Missouri. • 12. Essays On Siddhartha Daniel Gutierrez Honors English 4 Mr. Rodriguez 08/30/17 Siddhartha That was how everyone loved Siddhartha. He delighted and made everybody happy. But Siddhartha was not happy. (Page 6) This is a great example of perception vs. reality as everyone makes it seem that one person might be happy, but inside they can be at the complete opposite state. This causes him to have the desire for more wisdom than what he has been taught. He wanted to find out what was really important and wanted to feel no emotion in regards to what people think of him. What is concentration? What is the ability to leave one s body? What is fasting? What is retention of breath? It is a flight from the self, it is a brief escape from the torment of being I , it is a brief numbing of the mind to counter pain and the senselessness of life. (Page 9) Siddhartha is saying. that the practices of the samana are just a way of leaving life and its problems temporarily by making their bodies undergo these hardships. They eventually become numb with the pain and by doing so, the samana are able to leave their worries of the real world temporarily. Yes, he thought breather deeply, I will no longer try to escape from Siddhartha. I will learn from myself, be my own pupil; I will learn from myself the secret of Siddhartha. (Page 32) Here Siddhartha is demonstrating that he is the only one that matters when it comes to thoughts of who he is, and only his opinion of himself matters. Acceptance and the ability to look into himself will lead to that road of happiness. Also, to be minimalistic as to if there is nothing to be needed then it is not. This is something many people should take into consideration as to stay away from being materialistic. He looked around him as if seeing the world for the first time. The world was beautiful, strange, and mysterious. (page 39) Siddhartha Govinda left to join the Samanas to set themselves free for enlightenment. The Samanas put out the idea that you must eliminate the self so one can achieve spiritual fulfillment one day. Now he, too, felt belatedly for once in his life that strongest and strangest of passions; he suffered from it, suffered pitifully, and yet he was blessed, and yet he was in ... All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God s love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit who subsequently seals God s offer of salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love. Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980). Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the ... The surface area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. Throughout the story Mrs. Loisel is conflicted with many problems just to realize who she became and how she took advantage of what she already had in her life. When it turns out to be too late she then blames her friend for letting her borrow the necklace instead of taking the responsibility of her selfish life. During the eighteenth century all aspects of western culture was influenced to take over the role of women in society at the time. Women were lead to believe that men were supposed to be the primary householders whom can do anything leaving them dependent to men. Negative Eugenics is the enforcement of preventative actions such as sterilization to intentionally eradicate humans who are born with abnormalities, genetic diseases, and mental deficiencies (Scarfe, 2018a, 2). He dedicated every action of his life to unify a sectioned South Africa that showed no signs of reformation. One of the major characteristics of Mandela s movement in particular was the notion of unification through nonviolence. Throughout South Africa, the apartheid system was strict and unforgiving. The origins of apartheid lied within denying blacks any political power, or any participation in government whatsoever. From this, the National Party established a system of racial segregation that strictly adhered to White Africans. The apartheid system was law, and was aggressively enforced through physical and political abuse towards black South Africans. Any opposition to the apartheid system endangered the lives of all who participated. Naturally, black South Africans would eventually take action against the poor treatment of their superiors. However the most important characteristic of a revolt are the principals on which it is structured. The Nonviolence Campaign was the most effective method of ending apartheid in South Africa. Peaceful opposition prevented unnecessary loss of life, stayed true to the original principals and morals of abolitionists, and prevented the movement itself from falling to hypocrisy. Everywhere people are always judging. Judgement from parents, from family, and even from friends is inescapable. People can tear themselves down in many ways, such as through school, not feeling they look good enough, and even just not feeling like they re ever good enough to be living on Earth. In Janice Mirikitani s poem Suicide Note, it talks about an Asian American student currently in college. She tries her hardest, she wants to succeed and make her parents proud. Her parents have high standards for her, as they want her to receive a 4.0 grade point average. Although she gives her best effort, her grade point average is still less than a 4.0, and for that reason her parents are not proud of her, she s not their perfect, ideal daughter. In her suicide note she apologizes to her parents for not being good enough.
