Social Injustice In Bergen County
Education Level
In Bergen County, there are 78 school districts and three charter schools ( At a Glance , 2016, p. 9).
The education level in Bergen County is relatively higher than in other counties in New Jersey. In
2014, around 28.9 percent of the population ages 25 and older have a bachelor s degree. Meanwhile,
around 25 percent are high school graduates ( Educational Attainment , n.d., p. 1 2).
Housing
As stated earlier, Bergen County is a relatively wealthy county. Being that the income level in Bergen
County is high, it is no wonder that the housing costs will be high too. In 2014, about 43.6 percent of
the monthly housing costs average around $2,000 or more ( Financial Characteristics , n.d., p. 1). This
means that almost half of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To repeat, back in 2011, there was a count of an estimated 1,500 homeless individuals on just one
night (New Jersey Faces, n.d., p. 1). Being that the only homeless shelter located in Bergen County
only has 90 beds is unjust. It means that only 6 percent of the homeless individuals will be able to find
shelter at the Bergen County Shelter. Many factors cause homelessness like unemployment, lack of
affordable housing, no access to social services, mental health or substance abuse issues, etc.

My Experience At The Gym
When I started searching for a place to volunteer, I had a tough time finding the correct place, because
most places required for me to fill out an application to do a background check. I understand is a
process, but it was going to take too much time, and I wanted to start as soon as possible because of
time matter. However, that was not the only problem. The main issue was my work schedule because I
work two jobs, and I only have free time part of the weekends, which made my situation much more
complicated. The places I called needed the most help on week days. After calling several places and
visiting some of the locations, I decided to try another day and went to work. While I was at work, I
was having a conversation with one of the young lady s that exercises there at the gym, I was telling
her about my service learning, and that I had been looking all day but could not yet find one that
would work with my schedule. As I was telling her this, someone overheard the conversation and
said... I work at the food bank you can come and volunteer with us Her name is Nicole Anderson, and
she offered to help me get everything set up for me to volunteer with the community food bank.
Nicole said that they always needed volunteers there, and all I had to do, was to talk to the volunteer
coordinator Adam Baker. I did as she told me to do and tried calling the coordinator the next day but
unfortunately, I couldn t talk to him, because he was out of town. I drove to the location after

Forensic Examination Of Forensic Science
Forensic science is defined as science that pertains to law. Forensic science is used during
investigations of a crime scene. Many forensic techniques are used during the investigation of crime
scenes. These techniques are applied to what is considered to be trace evidence. Trace evidence is
evidence left at the scene of the crime that helps tell the story of what had happened and could
possibly lead to a suspect. The reliability of forensic evidence testing is a widely debated topic in the
world of forensic science. The new Gold standard in evidence is DNA analysis, because of its
reliability. Finger printing as well as ballistics are often used but are said to be imperfect compared to
DNA analysis. DNA analysis is deemed the most reliable because it has faced rigorous scientific
experimentation.
Fingerprinting is one of the oldest tool of forensic analysis. Fingerprinting is done by dusting a latent
print with aluminum flakes. This print is then photographed and picked up by clear adhesive tape. This
is where some of the controversy comes in. Fingerprint powders can contaminate the prints and ruin
the opportunity to perform other techniques that could result in more information. Another problem
that arises in the courtroom with fingerprinting is how is it determined that someone has touched that
exact object and how are fingerprint collected by the crime scene investigator. Simon A. Cole, a
Professor of Criminology, Law and Society at Cornell University, says At the

Analysis Of The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
Christian Lous Lange once said Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master. Ray Bradbury,
would agree with this quote completely because in his story, The Veldt , he shows how too much
technology can affect families by using conflicts between a set of parents and their children.
Technology can be obsessive, and can cause people to become unfocused at what s at hand. In this
story, Bradbury uses a failing family unit, obsession of materials, and lack of discipline to show that
not reprimanding kids can have grave consequences. Through several of the disrespectful actions
made by the kids, Bradbury is portraying that the lack of respect is leading to the failing of a family
unit. Peter looked at his shoes. He never looks at his father anymore, nor his mother. When people
respect one another, they make eye contact while speaking, Peter does not even have enough respect
for his dad to look him in the eye. On what. Peter yells this at his dad when he does not hear what he
wants. The fact that he cannot make eye contact with his dad, and also yell at him like that, shows the
amount of hate he has for his father. This lack of respect is further portraying how there s no family
unit because they act as individuals instead of a whole. Ray Bradbury also uses Peter and Wendy s
obsession with their home, especially their nursery, to show what can happen if people spoil their kids
along with no discipline. ... tie my own shoes, brush my own teeth, comb my hair, and give myself a
bath? This is Peter complaining about having to do things on his own that is house usually does for
him. Peter saying these things is a perfect example of how spoiled these children are. They screamed
and pranced and threw things. They yelled and sobbed and swore and jumped at the furniture. Peter
and Wendy are doing these things when the parents shut down the kid s main obsession, the nursery.
Them acting like this, and showing no respect for their other things, along with Peter not being able to
do anything on his own perfectly portrays how spoiling kids is bad thing to do. When parents spoil
their kids, they grow up to be mean and have no respect for anyone or anything. Discipline plays big
roles in people s lives, and

Factors That Affect The Activity Of Contractile Activity
During prolonged activity, muscles show a decline in ability to respond to stimulation with optimal
levels of contractile activity; this is a phenomena denoted as muscle fatigue (MF) (1). The causes of
MF are not yet understood, however there are many observations of associations between metabolic
and biochemical factors with MF. In order for force to be generated by muscles, calcium ions which
are released from the sarcoplasmic reticulum bind to troponin. The new troponin Ca2+ complex cause
s tropomyosin to change shape, exposing the binding site on actin. Myosin then binds to actin, causing
cross bridge tilting, and generating contraction (1).
Lactic acid is commonly perceived as a primary cause of MF to due to its intracellular muscle acidosis
effects. Acidosis lowers the sensitivity of the contractile apparatus to calcium ions, because the H+
ions competes against Ca2+ for binding to certain binding sites on troponin. (2).This leads to
decreased force development. However, low pH has many effects which do not favour development of
MF, such as its ability to help maintain excitability, and decreased rate of fatigue. Overall, there is
little evidence suggesting that the net effect of lactic acid results in MF.
Potassium ions is a metabolite which decreases calcium ion release from the SR. Shifts in levels of
potassium and calcium ions in and around skeletal muscle fibres will alter the membrane potential of
the muscle cell, making it more or less prone to stimulation.

The Influence Of Health Behavior Theory
Health behavior theory is a conceptual framework of key factors or variables hypothesized to
influence health behavior. An established theory is logical, supported by evidence, and underpins
behavior change plans and strategies. The different models and theories consist of the Social
Cognitive theory, Health belief model, and the stages of change model. According to IHealth The
Social Cognitive Theory is the theory that is based on the principle that behavior is dynamic
depending on individual and environmental factors, all of which influenced one another
simultaneously. The Social Cognitive Theory was created by Albert Bandura. Social Cognitive Theory
holds that the interactions among the individual, environment, and behavior are complex, but

Realism And The Theory Of Realism
Introduction
The idea of Realism was unofficially was created in fifth century BC by Thucydides, and continued
through Niccolo Machiavelli. This lead to the first official IR theory of realism in Thomas Hobbes,
amd Hans Morgenthau, known as Classical Realist. From there Classical Realism evolved to the ideas
of Kenneth Waltz, which brought along the ideas of neo realism or structural realism theory. Then
came offensive, defensive, and neoclassical realism. Overall the main idea of realism is defined by
internationalrelations.org as when looking at the political system, or more specifically, the
international system, realists focus their ideas about how international relations work based upon the
concepts of power and security. ( Realism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ranges from military presence to business presence. These countries want a piece of Afghanistan
politics. This analysis of Realism will use this situation as an example of why these countries are
involving themselves in Afghanistan, to better understand the theory.
System and Power
A system, from a neorealist point of view is described by Waltz as A system is composed of a structure
and of interacting units. The structure is the system wide component that makes it possible to think of
the system as a whole. Waltz furthermore goes into how to define a structure A structure is defined by
the arrangement of its parts. (Waltz, 1979) Bringing the neorealism theory that looking at politics,
structure is the arrangement of the states, not the collection of them. This leads in to the neorealism
idea that there is no central authority, and the world depends on balance (Sterling Folker, 2013). That
the one thing structure or balance depends on is the states, not NGOs or other actors. From a classical
realism perspective according to Morgenthau s It is a characteristic aspect of all politics, domestic as
well as international, that frequently its basic manifestations do not appear as what they actually are
manifestations of a struggle for power . (Morgenthau, Thompson Clinton, 2010) Morgenthau is saying
that states are power seekers, and strive for dominance which is

Primordial and Modernist Schooling
Primordial school Primordial school and modernist school are two very important main streams in
identity study. Especially, in the national identity study, both of them have involved the study of
nationalism and have a very unlike view of it. And they are often highly debated of the origins of
nations and their identity. The root of primordial school is originally based on the German
romanticism and it mainly argues how those fixed factors influence in identity shape process. Those
factors are constantly stable throughout the history and hardly changed. The factors have been passed
on to generations and constructing the identity of people who lives in nowadays. For example,
language is one of these elements. Language is unique and distinct from other ones. People who speak
this language will have their own identity and formed a special group which makes them different
from other language speaking groups. And in primordial school idea, same language speaking group
will result in similar thought. Because of people learn language from the community where they live
and each community will has its thought or behavior. These will transmit to people who learn that
language. Therefore, for primordial school language is one of the key elements in identity shaping.
Another pivotal and principle factor for shaping identity is the kinship. Primordial school argues that
people joining into groups by their blood or genetic relationship with each other. Family members will
gather and

Market Research Methods For Business
Market research methods in business
Primary research is data that is gathered first hand from an original source, and has not been collected
before. It often involves going out and asking people for information, hence its alternative name field
research.
Observational research involves watching and observing people s activities. For example, businesses
use cookies on their websites in order to track what pages users are visiting on their website. By using
cookies, businesses will be able to know what pages are most popular among users on their website.
Information collected through cookies can also help businesses improve marketing and their website.
Experimental research is when an investigation or test is conducted in order to discover new
opportunities which can help to maximise revenues for a business. This could be done by aiming their
product at a different demographic e.g. elderly people and modifying (or experimenting with) their
product to make it more appealing to that demographic. Surveys involve asking people questions in
order to collect information about what people think about something. This can be done face to face,
by telephone, by post and online too.
E marketing research involves using the internet to contact and interact with consumers about a
businesses product(s). Examples of e marketing include online surveys and cookies (as mentioned
before). A focus group is a research method in which a small group of people are asked to give their
opinions and

Analysis Of Goodfellas
Sound and music have long since been staples of the gangster genre, used both to add more tension in
suspenseful scenes, or to immerse an audience in the time period of the film. These examples and
many like it are most notably used in the 1990 Gangster film Goodfellas by Martin Scorsese, who uses
these to set the atmosphere of each scene, and reinforce the running narrative of the film. Goodfellas
retells the story of American born gangster Henry Hill, and the rise and fall of him and his way of life
from the 50 s through the 80 s. I picked Goodfellas as the focal point of this essay because of it s use
of music and sound to set it s story s atmosphere both visually, and through auditory means. Firstly,
Goodfellas starts with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of musical choices are plentiful in the first half of the movie, until being abruptly
shattered by the introduction of William Billy Batts Bentvena. Billy Batts is a made member of the
Luchese crime family, first introduced in The Suite Lounge, where he mocks Tommy DeVito (Joe
Pesci) about him once being a shoe shiner. Eventually, Tommy and his associates beat Billy Batts
within an inch of his life while the song Atlantis by Donovan starts to play. Atlantis breaks the
repetition of love songs that had preceded it, instead replacing it with a fantasy song. While in no way
a sad song, Atlantis shows Henry s rising uncertainties with his romanticized lifestyle, showing that he
still loves the fantasy of it, but isn t in love with all aspects of it. Additionally, Atlantis s lyrics, which
do appear to have romantic backing, also contain more morose lyrics like gotta tell me where she gone
and Way down below the ocean where I want to be. These wistful lines parallel Henry s inner
monologue in this scene, showing his clear want to return to the romanticized, clean cut world that he
had known just previous to this scene. This subtle narrative change in direction isn t confined to
Goodfellas either, appearing in Arthur Penn s Bonnie and Clyde.
With Bonnie and Clyde, shortly after Buck Barrow s death and after Bonnie is shot, Clyde has her and

The Theme of Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown Essay
The Theme of Young Goodman Brown
This essay intends to develop an interpretation of the theme of Young Goodman Brown .
To come by a clear notion of the theme of Young Goodman Brown is no easy task, thanks to the
confusing style of the author. As A.N. Kaul says in the Introduction to Hawthorne A Collection of
Critical Essays:
Because Hawthorne was much given to evasions, mystifications, and prevarications of various sorts,
because he repeatedly confuses the issues by shying sway from them, because he often talks of his
fiction in terms of misty legends and faded blooms, because, in short, he seems frequently to disclaim
his own vital interests, we must take care not to lose from sight those ... Show more content on

Evil becomes a monster with which he cannot cope. . . . F.N. Cherry discovered a source in one of
Cervantes Novelas ejemplares, The Colloquy of the Dogs, which contains all the important motifs of
Hawthorne s tale [ Young Goodman Brown ]. It is the life history of the dog Berganza, who is young
and inexperienced at first, but gains insight into appearance and reallity, hypocrisy and righteousness,
trying hard, at the same time, not to become cynical, though, as a dog, he has every right to be. The
climax of his story is the meeting with an old witch, who. . . . (89 90)
I m sure that the close resemblance between this dog tale and Hawthorne s tale is not a very
complimentary testimony regarding the theme of the latter.
Terence Martin in Nathaniel Hawthorne talks about the difficult theme of Young Goodman Brown :
Assumed in the tale is a radical distinction between dream life and real life; the question proposed to
Goodman Brown is into which of these categories good and evil naturally belong. At the outset of the
story, Faith asks her husband to postpone his journey until sunrise and sleep in his own bed that night.
. . . Mulling over the guilty purpose that has brought him into the forest, Goodman Brown recalls Faith
s talk of dreams. . . . In the forest he goes through a dreamlike experience. . . . The devil, furthermore,
introduces a further notion of a dream. . . . Thus the counterpoised terms, dream and

The Importance Of Andrew Jackson And The Common Man
Imagine if we didn t win the War of 1812 or if the common people felt unwanted? Where would we be
without Andrew Jackson? Andrew Jackson s presidency should be admired because he supported the
common man and thought the rich were overrated, he also a well known war hero. This topic is
relevant because Andrew Jackson made it so the people were treated as equals, and how different
groups shouldn t be treated better just because of their money status. It also is relevant because our
country wouldn t have double without the War of 182 or our success during the Revolutionary.
Andrew Jackson wasn t born into the richest family, in fact he lived out most of his life an orphan.
President Jackson always thought that the rich were over privileged or didn t deserve what they were
given. Andrew Jackson wanted to make sure the common people felt just as equal as the rich. Jackson
also was a well renowned war hero for his victory during the War of 1812 which gave the United
States the ability to double in size or it wouldn t have given us the social status that was
desired.Because Andrew Jackson was a common man himself, how did he put towards that part of his
life into his acts as president?
Andrew Jackson wasn t just a president, he was also a common man. Jackson was most famous
because he believed in the common man, and that s what he fought for and how he wanted to model
the country. The common man started as almost the lowest of the system until Jackson helped them

Furthermore, the antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties of coconut oil help
promote healing.
For best results, gently wash the affected area, and allow your bottom to dry. Then, apply up to a

as a barrier between your skin and excess waste.
6) Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is also useful for treating rear end rash naturally. It contains alpha hydroxy acids

Tattoos Are A Symbol Of Sexual And Bodily Freedom
The practice of tattooing has been used around the globe for ages, particularly in tribal societies.
However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century,
regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control
over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will
argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often
interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their
bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects
interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research
shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio,
larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals
sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women
realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men
think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons
for this promiscuous stereotype s development in Western society, followed by its effects on male
female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement. In Christine

Revenge In Hamlet
Hamlet is one of the most influential and time withstanding plays of all time. Created by William
Shakespeare, Hamlet dabbles with the concepts of deceit, revenge, and death. Hamlet, the protagonist
in Hamlet, is confronted with the challenge of taking part in revenge for his father s death, but he often
finds himself lacking in taking action. Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher, accounts this lack
of action for something far deeper than what lies on the surface. He construes that Hamlet is burdened
with the knowledge that death triumphs over all being. What kills Hamlet s action is knowing that
what lies in everyone s path is death and that since we all die there is no point in correcting your
earthly state, in Hamlet s case: getting revenge. This explanation for Hamlet s delay, however, is not
fully represented throughout the play. Hamlet has his bouts of hope and prevalently believes in taking
revenge. However, it s in his subconscious that Nietzsche s statement holds true. Hamlet, fueled by his
cynicism, slowly finds himself falling deeper into this state of depression throughout the play. The
farther he falls down this rabbit hole, the clearer his understandings shine through from the beginning
of the play. Hamlet s mind is clouded with grief when he is first introduced. He likens everything of
this earth as weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable (I.ii.132), as if the mere thought of being on this earth
is useless. Hamlet from the get go, in his

Why Do People Suffer Cost For Performance Faster And More...
Taking on many different task and multitask is not something many are gifted at. Sometimes doing
one task at a time becomes more beneficial then doing two or more at a time. In this research
Brooklyn College students decided to test if performance faster and more accurate for task repeat
thank task switches and do people suffer cost in performance when switching between two data? After
trials of task multitasking with manipulations like task sequence and cue target delays it was
concluded that task switching can cause task cost and task switching is with and with out delays are
still slower then with no task switching.
Task switching Task sequence effect of reaction time and error rate Taking on many tasks at the same
time can be something very hard to do for some and something others can easily exceed at.
Throughout our day we like to take on more then one task at a time to finish something faster or to
minimize time but research has shown that task switch can cost us time. Stephen Monsell (2003)
conducted a study called Task Switching and concluded that switching between tasks can cause us
time because the brain required loading time , which hinders the focus on the actual task. Loading
time lets our brain focus completely on one task and when that loading time isn t completed it
becomes hard to focus on that specific task; let alone execute it correctly. This causes us to take up
time in between task switching because our brain tries to adjust to the task and

generally takes three to five years from inception to assembly. Ideas for new models are developed to
respond to unmet pubic needs and preferences. Trying to predict what the public will want to drive in
five years is no small feat, yet automobile companies have successfully designed automobiles that fit
public tastes. With the help of computer aided design equipment, designers develop basic concept
drawings that help them visualize the proposed vehicle s appearance. Based on this simulation, they
then construct wax models that can be studied by styling experts familiar with what the public is likely
to accept. Aerodynamic engineers also review the models, studying airflow parameters and doing
feasibility studies on crash tests. Only after all models have been reviewed and accepted are tool
designers permitted to begin building the tools that will manufacture the component parts of the new
model. Design For Assembly Design for assembly (DFA) should be considered at all stages of the
design process, but especially the early stages. As the design team conceptualizes alternative solutions,

Parenting Producing Helicopter Parents And Tiger Moms
Patrick de Waal

Look out above.
Regardless of who you are or where you come from there s one instrumental factor we all share. We
all were raised by a parent, parents, or guardian that was key in who we became. While like many
things Americans cannot seem to agree on which stratagem is best in child rearing it is indelible that
the common goal of every parent is for their son or daughter to succeed and find happiness in life.
However, this has given rise to some extreme forms of parenting producing helicopter parents and
tiger moms; Parents that feel the need to control every aspect of their child s life to either keep them
safe or make them the best when compared to others. In the end everyone wants to be a good parent,
but helicopter parents and other groups like them are, in the long term, hindering more than helping
their child towards a successful future.
In the past 25 years alone parenting has been making a major shift according to marriage therapist
John Becker the general goals of parenting haven t see too much variance over the years but the focus
and outcomes have (Morman). Even looking back on my own childhood and that of some of the kids I
work with, sometimes an age gap as small as four years between us, the effects of different parenting
methods is evident. We always ate dinner together at roughly the same time and everyone ate the same
thing, dinner served as a time to catch up on the days events as a family; A sentiment of

narrator, he helps Gatsby reunite with his true love and he s the only one who knows the whole true
story of what goes on. Though this title of this novel is The Great Gatsby, the narrator is called Nick
Carraway, a man who represents the story as a whole and is the foundation to the story. Though he is

What is a Balance Scorecard? A Balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system
that is used extensively in business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide
to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external
communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals. It was originated by
Drs. Robert Kaplan Harvard Business School and David Norton as a performance measurement
framework that added strategic non financial performance measures to traditional financial metrics to

This communication prevents employees from repeating fellow employees mistakes, saving time and
money. Philips has realized significant benefits due to implementing a worldwide scorecard system.
Employees embrace and use the scorecard to improve results. Management uses the scorecard to
communicate strategy and align employees with strategy. The scorecard is also used at all levels of the
organization. Philips has implemented a balanced scorecard and succeeded in focusing the company
on a diverse set of business measures (Hudson, 2004).
Disadvantage of Balance Scorecard
Because the balanced scorecard looks at the affect on the whole, the performance and encouragement
of the individual can be lost. The scorecard can be misrepresented and used as an employee
monitoring tool rather than as a company performance tool. Finally, the large number of variables
taken into consideration to form a viable scorecard can be cumbersome and result in a job unto itself
(Price Watson, 2013). Some issues that Phillips Electronics faces were software for use in capturing
and transferring data to a BSC in real time should be selected carefully and researched fully prior to
implementing the balanced scorecard. A balance scorecard must be reached to maintain visibility for
employee access while maintaining confidentiality of company results that are sensitive and
proprietary. In trying to determine employee level performance indicators, the company learned that

Social Education And The Competent Social Work Practitioner
Social Work Education and the Competent Social Work Practitioner
Introduction
Social work education needs to focus on teaching global issues and applying the structural and anti
oppressive principles of practice (Razack Badwell, 2006). According to Mohan (2005) stated by
Razack Badwell (2006) that the social work profession seems to be silent to teach students to achieve
adequate skills to think and act globally. This essay will be divided into five sections. The first section
will briefly describe the topic. The second section will discuss the global issues in social work
education. The third section will discuss the anti oppression approach in social work practice. The
fourth section will discuss the importance of the structural social work practice. Finally, the fourth
section will justify the thesis statement with support of the literature.
Global issues in social work education There are plenty of global issues that need to be incorporated in
social work education. Major issues in the global context are immigration, refugees, terrorism,
security, racism and gender issue. A significant number of people immigrated into Canada and the
USA due to war and poverty. However, since 9/11 the view regarding the Arabs and Muslims has
changed and increase their oppression and marginality. So, these globalization issues create
challenging moments and opportunity for the practitioner and the educators to deal with these issues
effectively (Razack Badwell, 2006).These

The Madres De Plaza De Mayo s Social Movement
Despite isolation from family members and constant fear of their own lives, The Madres de Plaza de
Mayo s social movement has improved the Argentinian culture over the years. We ll take a look back
at what prompted the creation of the Madres social movement, what the goals of the Madres social
movement were about, and how the Madres movement has changed Argentina in present day society.
The real question to ask yourself is what would you be willing to do for the wellbeing and safety of
your family and loved ones?
First, let s take a look back at what prompted the creation of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo social
movement. Argentina during the years 1976 through 1983 was called the Dirty War era. During these
years Argentina was being governed by President Isabel Perón along with a deadly military junta
dictatorship. The Dirty War era can be summed up as basically the government s attack on Argentinian
individuals suspected of any political opposition. Opposition was choked off by rigorous censorship,
strict curfews, and fear of the secret police. (Encyclopedia Britanica) The secret police, or (
government ), would often kidnap, torture and kill these individuals before disposing of their bodies in
nearby oceans, in rural areas, or in mass unmarked graves. It is estimated between ten thousand and
thirty thousand Argentinian individuals lost their lives during the Dirty War era. Although to this day,
the government has only acknowledged some involvement with approximately nine

Cupping At The Rio Olympics 2016
Cupping has recently made headlines at the Rio Olympics 2016 when Michael Phelps, and several
Olympians have been spotted rocking huge round purple bruises in their backs. Sadly, these bruises
didn t come from extreme BDSM play (though that would ve been a much better story to tell) but
rather came from another ancient therapy known as cupping. Cupping is an ancient therapy mostly
used in Middle Eastern and Asian countries. The therapy involves putting multiple warm round
suction cups in your back targeting the sore parts of your body. This process is believed to stimulate
muscles and blood flow. Back in the day, cupping therapy has been used to cure all kinds of ailments
including shingles, facial paralysis, and even acne. A 2015 study (Lauche et al., 2015) examined
whether cupping worked better than a sham controlled treatment for patients suffering fibromyalgia, a
chronic disorder known to cause widespread pain, muscle stiffness, and even depression. For this
study, participants were put in one of three conditions (k=3): Cupping therapy, sham cupping therapy,
or the usual care condition. Those in cupping therapy and sham cupping therapy condition received
the treatment 2 5x a week. Conversely, those in sham cupping therapy was administered using cupping
glass with a hole on top which negates the pressure created by the real cupping method. Subjects were

Grades Are Not The Key
Grades are Not the Key I remember the first time that a grading rubric was attached to a piece of
writing for a grade; I was no longer exploring for me. I want to get that back. Will I ever get that

to say is that she feels that all the fun, purpose, and learning experience is being taken out of because
the rubric is commanding and telling her what to do. Grades may deprive students of their willingness
to work and do not matter much because they do not affect your life in the long run, it can cause
students to be stressed out, and make it a more positive environment if grades were taken out of the

This applies to the future for other for other jobs and schools as well. Grades do not affect your life in
the long run. A student that may learn nothing yet get a high score on their quiz or test, versus
someone who learns a lot but gets a low grade and unfortunately, colleges will not know any of this.
Some students may even have test anxiety, making them do bad on test. Around 40 60% of students
suffer from test anxiety.(healthycentral.org) So, around half of students have a chance of doing poorly
on a test despite learning a lot. Colleges may not know this part either; they also do not know how
much blood, sweat, and tears a student has put into the 12 14 grades before college. Many amazing
learning experiences do not even come from school. Then, if a student does not use that information in
school, they may think that it is useless learning information out of school. They may not even think
this until they graduate. Recent graduates, a student with a college reputation, a high GPA, and courses
are shown at the bottom of the list when applying for a job.(theatlantic.com) So remember, a couple
bad grades will not land you a job at McDonald s for the rest of your life, and experiences. Though,
for students who do not believe this, will it just cause them stress? Grades can cause students to not
work to their highest potential. Student should be focused on the learning material being given to them

Chaim Potok s The Chosen is the story of a lasting friendship that blossoms between two Jewish boys,
Danny Saunders and Reuven Malter, during and after World War II. On a deeper level, much of the
plot focuses on the character of their fathers Reb Saunders and David Malter whose beliefs and ideals
are rooted in two separate worlds. Reb Saunders is a zealous Hasidic rabbi who wants to impart his
knowledge of his religion upon Danny and expects his son to follow in his footsteps. David is a
professor and single father who comes from a liberal Jewish background. As the friendship between
Reuven and Danny grows, both fathers try to reconcile their views with their sons and with their own

For hours, no words are traded, with the exception of a discussion of a Talmudic passage.
On the other hand, Reuven and David mutually support the notion that the lines of communication
between them should always be open. Whenever Reuven struggles with a problem or simply a
question, regardless the significance, he comes directly to his father for assistance. David listens
intently and offers a few suggestions or delivers a thorough answer to his son s query. For example,
when Reuven wonders about Danny, David answers with a lengthy and detailed account. This
demonstrates not only the comfort they bear in talking to each other but also the patience they ve
developed that has stemmed from their communication. Despite their lack of communication, Reb
Saunders and his son share the same admiration, respect, and trust for each other that are consistent
with Reuven s and David s relationship.
Although Reb Saunders carries the overwhelming responsibility of being tzaddik and David Malter is
often absorbed in his journalistic efforts, both fathers demonstrate through their actions the
tremendous concern they possess for the well being and overall happiness of their sons. At first, the
caring nature of Reb Saunders is not apparent, especially considering his complete silence with
Danny. However, toward the end, he reacts to Danny s decision to become involved in the secular

from the development of copper porphyry deposits, focusing on pipeline spills, tailings failures and
water collection and treatment failures. It was found that all of the mines (100%) experienced pipeline

Comparing Single And Married Life In The United States

amount of money they can make and spend, having freedom, and having entertainment. First, the lives
of single and married people are different in terms of basic life expenses. Obviously, married people
have to spend more money for basic life expenses such as, housing, insurance, utilities, and foods. On
the other hand, Single people spend less money for these mentioned expenses. Married people can
make more money if both couple have a job. In contrast, single people have to make money by their

Government s Military Interventions Toward Native Peoples...
The primary memory of United States westward expansion in the 19th century is one of triumph
because it doubled the nation s territory and increased trade. However, the Old West during the 19th
century was characterized by America s brutal obsession with expansion and the concept of American
exceptionalism. In Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, Judge Holden celebrates the human nature
of violence and its necessity to find order in chaos. Blinded by the greed for control, he refuses to
acknowledge the norms of civilized behavior. Similarly, under the principles of the Manifest Destiny,
the U.S. government s military interventions toward Native peoples overlooked violence. These
parallels reflect the exceptionalist idea that one is inherently more virtuous and entitled to higher
purposes. Historians and primary accounts confirm the parallelism that McCarthy draws between
violence and American history. Therefore, preconceived notions about the positive aspects of
American expansionism are overturned by the significance of its underlying violence. Attempts to
justify westward expansion with Manifest Destiny advocated the pursuit of historical erasure. The
American westward movement rooted from the brutality of American exceptionalism and destructive
manipulation of history. A New York Daily Times article in 1851 romanticized Manifest Destiny as a
national progress where the nation thirsts for freedom in the furthest ends of the earth ( Annexation in
the Pacific ). The

Theme Of Revenge In Frankenstein
The Revenge of a Medieval Monster The reason for a decision made by The Monster or Victor
Frankenstein s creation, created one of the many themes revenge . Revenge is an interesting theme
that occurs in the book Frankenstein. There are many events that occur in the story that support this
theme. Revenge forms a very destructive feeling within the monster. The theme of revenge first
appears when the monster was mistreated by his creator, Victor Frankenstein. The monster then was

are understandable because it has been abandoned and mistreated by humanity. Revenge truly effected
the monster in this novel. Revenge turned the monster into a real monster that had no feelings and
made him want to destroy his creator. The monster wanted revenge on Victor because he abandoned
and mistreated him. Also, Victor wasn t a good father figure, he didn t teach or care for his creation.

which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me; my
feeling were those of rage and revenge. I could with my pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its

For instance, this can been seen in the banishment of glader Ben, who attacks Thomas for no valid
reason, in both the book and the film. Even the ritual ceremony of the banishment is kept close to the

large changes are made throughout the process of adapting the book into a film, they still found a way
to retain the main themes. There is no denying that, this is a wonderful accomplishment of the director
Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, 2014).
To conclude, the book and the film have both similarities and differences. The thought processes of
the protagonist are not portrayed in the film and the time span is reduced. Given these facts the reader
of the book becomes more immersed in the story, than the viewers of the film. Another factor is the
change of character traits of most peripheral characters. This has thoroughly altered the story,
furthermore, it affects the connection viewers have with the characters and the story. Thus, this causes

The Two Component Stressors
Introduction
Bacteria are prone to various stressors so they need to sense and respond to these fluctuating
conditions in order to survive. Two component plays an important role in the bacterial kingdom to
sense and adapt themselves to these varieties of stressors, for example oxidative stress, protein
misfolding, nutrient starvation and many more. It is first described by Ninfa and Magasanik (1986) in
the study of nitrogen starvation in Escherichia coli. Two component system consists of a sensor
histidine kinase and its cognate response regulator (Koretke,K.K. 2000). Sensor histidine kinase is
bifunctional which means it can function as both kinase and phosphatase. It autophosphorylates itself
upon sensing a signal, whereby the phosphoryl group from ATP molecule is transferred to a specific
histine residue on the histidine kinase. It then acts as phosphodonor substrate for its cognate response
regulator. The cognate response regulators is acting as phosphatase to the histidine kinase as it
catalyses the transfer of the phosphoryl group from histidine kinase to its conserved aspartic acid
residue. Once phosphorylated, response regulator undergoes conformational change which activates
the output domain leading to either stimulation or repression of the targeted genes. As mentioned
earlier on, histidine kinase protein also acts as phosphatase for its cognate response regulator if it is
not stimulated to autophosphorylate.
This system has vast variations and the common

being Napster. The brainchild of a 19 year old college student, Napster launched in 1999 and
revolutionized the way music sharing was conducted online. However, with such a quick rise to
success comes the inevitable problems; in this case, the problems arose in the form of the Recording
Industry Association of America (RIAA) and copyright lawsuits. While users of Napster saw nothing
wrong with sharing music, the RIAA, which represents the four major music labels, saw the situation
quite differently. By late 2000, the courts had ruled that Napster must restrict access to copyrighted

The Problem Of Child Sexual Abuse
Topic/Problem Around the world there are sexual abuse victims suffering everyday from fear, pain,
and emotions. 20.7% of adults report being sexually abused as a child (Child Help, 2011). Often
between the lines sexual abuse can be classified as a wide range of actions between a child and adult.
Among many individuals that have been sexual abused on a legal criteria later report the emotions of
feeling scared or hopeless in later relationships. Studies show that these sexual abuse survivors have
negative emotional reactions toward the abuse and current sexual reactions (Aaron, 2012). These
alarming rates have called for powerful policy and practice methods to acknowledge the urgent need
to do more to prevent and respond appropriately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having programs available for the children and families can help built a trusting relationship between
the two and allow closure to all. Advertising this program in schools such as middle to high school
aged students will allow them to understand the information and pass it on. During this time period we
will have professionals available in that specialty to set up time and dates in which meetings can be
held to discuss the issues going on. These sort of topics can be hard to discuss for the child and the
family so easing into the meetings will require more than one meet time. To reach this audience I want
to show the importance and statistics of children suffering from abuse mentally and physically. These
emotions aren t just temporary and can have long term effects on everyone. Role I have chosen to start
this organization with reaching out to schools around a community. I started with the parents that have
children going to this school sending out a newsletter letting them know there are ways to talk about
the issues in sexual abuse they think their child may be facing. Starting with the teachers, I created a
list of 7 things each teacher needs to know to prevent child sexual abuse. This prevention program will
help teachers better understand what they are looking for in their students and noticing things that may
stick out to help them at an early stage. Know the facts.

Marijuana Informative Speech
Howdy, today Sara, Shelby, Jessica, Royce and I will be discussing why the rise of marijuana is so
popular in the world and United States, as well as some of the issues within the United States that are
specific with marijuana.
Introduction:
Attention: I want you to think about what comes to your mind when you hear the word marijuana and
how your thought would vary if you lived 4,000 years ago. I am sure you were not thinking about the
cannabis plant that could also produce more beneficial worldwide items such as fabric and fiber,
lighting oil, or even paper.
Thesis Statement: Today my focus will not be on the positive and negatives of the marijuana drug,
however for the next few minutes I will inform you about the importance of the past global ... Show

According to the 2010 National Drug Strategy Household Survey, 35.4% of the Australian population
reported using cannabis at some time in their lives, with 10.3% having used it in the last 12 months.
Even more astonishing news that was reported from this survey was that of the Australian population
that was surveyed more than 700,000 Australians used cannabis in the previous week. ( What is
Cannabis )
Transition to second main point: Now that we understand the cannabis plant and how global this plant
is, we will now narrow our attention to where marijuana comes from, let us dive into how marijuana
became such a popular drug worldwide.
2. Throughout the last ninety five years, marijuana has become the reason for governments worldwide
to spend billions of dollars in order to stop war on drugs , but many wonder how marijuana even
became so popular in global society.
a. According to criminal defense lawyer, Bruce Alan Block, he says that Marijuana was used as a
medicinal herb by the ancient Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for stomach ailments, cramps,
and pain. (Block)
i. Bruce then leads on to talk about how the drug marijuana was spread throughout Europe was during
war and trading with allies during the conquests in the Mediterranean.

Shingle Roof Research Paper
Whether your shingle roof is leaking or you are just wondering when you might have to replace the
whole roof, it is always a good idea to know the general lifespan of your roof. While a roof may live
long after its lifespan you may also start to see signs of wear, dealing with these issues can help
protect your home from a major disaster.
The Shingle Roof Life Span
There are many things that can impact how long your roof lasts, these may include the installation,
manufacturer, climate and how your roof is cared for. In general an asphalt shingle roof can last
anywhere between 20 to 40 years, depending on the quality. You will find that many warranties on
shingle roofs will only cover you from anywhere between 15 years to 25 years.

Alternatively, it is possible that the statistical test find significant difference between trials, which is an
indication of the in consistency of the algorithm. In this case we would revise out algorithm and
experimental design, we also may increase the number of trials to re examine the consistency of the
algorithm. Also the statistical test may reveal no significant difference between groups, in this case we
will re construct the groups based on manipulation of three parameters, and we will revisit the range
of variation for each parameter. 2. Exp2: We predict a significant difference between groups,
waveforms and the interaction between both of them, and the post hoc test will reveal that groups with
variation in Gnamax, Gleak and α will be more selective than groups with them constant. This is an
indication that Gnamax, Gleak and α can be used to improve stimulation selectivity. However, the test
may show no significance between groups, in this case we will revise the parameters combinations.
Also, We may run the statistical test relatively to the stimulus strength (K) instead of NOC. In this
case we should revise the parameters variation range and confirm that all cells is stable when running
the test. 3. EXp3: Results from experiment 2 will guide us

Hollins University Personal Statement Sample
I would like to apply for Summer Statistical Research Experience Undergraduate Program. I heard
about this internship from my Math professor, Dr. Julie Clark. I am an international student from
Nepal. I intend to major in Mathematics Statistics, and Environmental Science at Hollins University. I
have a comprehensive background in Mathematics and Science, my emphasis is research and data
collection. I enjoy this concentration because I find great satisfaction being part of the problem
solving process.
Through a previous internship in Nepal with Trail Bridge Support Units (TBSU), I was able to work in
rural villages and connect with villagers. Our goal was to construct sustainable trail bridges that would
connect two communities. I assisted with data collection; surveying local people to pinpoint their
needs. Since I spoke with villagers directly, I was able to find the middle ground between former data
and people s needs making progress in TBSU s goal to carry out bridge construction. In addition to
this field work, my background with Statistics, Environmental Science, and Ecology has improved my
research skills and understanding of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We do not have many math majors so the research opportunities in this field are very limited. I took
Statistical Methods I in fall 2014 and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. We did two group projects for the
class. For my projects, I looked at what percent of Hollins students took loan to complete their
undergraduate education. This survey was conducted to understand the financial needs of current
students. Through Stat REU internship, I hope to utilize theorems and methods that I have learned in
my Mathematics Statistics class to conduct research. I am always curious to observe application of
Mathematics in real life. So far my classes are most theoretical and I hope that this internship provides
me opportunities to explore practical

Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth is the most interesting and complex character in the play. She is, in fact, the point on
which the action pivots: without her there is no play.
Macbeth s most interesting and complex character is most certainly, as the question states, Lady
Macbeth. The purpose of this essay is to describe Lady Macbeth s role in the play and discuss why
this makes her the most fascinating character. Her evil doings are the main reasons why she dominates
the plot so greatly. These include the following: considers Macbeth to be a wimp not wanting to
murder; letting Macbeth fulfill her plan; taking control over Macbeth s thoughts and actions; turning
Macbeth from a loyal man to a greedy, coldhearted human being. Also ... Show more content on

Still asleep Lady Macbeth asks, what, will these hands ne re be clean? foreseeing that she will never
have peace of mind. This change in character is truly remarkable considering her dominant nature in
Acts one and two.
The transformation of the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is another interesting part
of Lady Macbeth. In acts one and two their relationship is strong and loving. This strength is shown
when Macbeth agreements to conduct his wife s plans because of a threat Lady Macbeth made to take
away her love. This meant Macbeth was essentially willing to kill so that his relationship with Lady
Macbeth continued.
After the murder and the crowning of Macbeth the once strong relationship between Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth rapidly deteriorates, so much so that when Macbeth hears of his wife s death he does
not feel any emotion what so ever. When Macbeth became king he and his wife rarely saw each other
as Macbeth was occupied in running and protecting Scotland and also himself. At this stage (acts three
and four) in the play Lady Macbeth s role is not as evident but when she did make appearances they
were usually important to the plot.
At the beginning Lady Macbeth finds strength to lure Macbeth to murder King Duncan and to commit
the murder herself. As the play progresses, her apparent strength diminishes as she fights

The Importance of Masculine and Feminine in Dr. Strangelove
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) is a dark comedy
film by Stanley Kubrick. The film deals with nuclear war which was a hot topic during the 50 s and 60
s. Americans were very paranoid about communists and nuclear war at this time. This film shows how
ridiculous the paranoia about nuclear war through a sexual relationship allegory. The allegory deals
with the masculine and the feminine. The masculine is an important part of the nuclear war efforts
while the feminine takes a backseat. The feminine is displayed in men as a negative. The sexual
allegory becomes funny through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strangelove are all shown as weak and impotent. The characters are either physically handicapped or
just weak minded. Mandrake and President both are represented as meek while Dr. Strangelove is
physically impaired in a wheelchair with a prosthetic arm. These characters are all hesitant in some
way to wage war which is shown as a negative. They are seen as incapable when it comes time to take
control of the situation. Mandrake couldn t stop Jack D. Ripper from launching the nuke. The
President couldn t seize control over his own army. Dr. Strangelove couldn t control his arm at the
very end. These are all deliberate to show their submissive femininity.
The president and Mandrake are both feminine in their demeanor and personality. They don t want to
go to war, but they also cannot take control and stop the war. This can be seen as the female of the
relationship not wanting sex. This leads those masculine men frustrated. The masculine characters in
the film, Buck and Jack D. Ripper, are quite enthusiastic for nuclear war and sex. Their desire for sex
and war allows them to go forward in the war effort in an energetic manner.
Buck is always energetic when talking about the war, so much so, that he literally fights in the war
room. Buck wrestles with the Russian diplomat due to his enthusiasm for war and his sexual
frustration. This causes the president to say There is no fighting in the war room. The movie uses this

  • 2. Social Injustice In Bergen County Education Level In Bergen County, there are 78 school districts and three charter schools ( At a Glance , 2016, p. 9). The education level in Bergen County is relatively higher than in other counties in New Jersey. In 2014, around 28.9 percent of the population ages 25 and older have a bachelor s degree. Meanwhile, around 25 percent are high school graduates ( Educational Attainment , n.d., p. 1 2). Housing As stated earlier, Bergen County is a relatively wealthy county. Being that the income level in Bergen County is high, it is no wonder that the housing costs will be high too. It means that only 6 percent of the homeless individuals will be able to find shelter at the Bergen County Shelter. • 3. My Experience At The Gym When I started searching for a place to volunteer, I had a tough time finding the correct place, because most places required for me to fill out an application to do a background check. I understand is a process, but it was going to take too much time, and I wanted to start as soon as possible because of time matter. However, that was not the only problem. The main issue was my work schedule because I work two jobs, and I only have free time part of the weekends, which made my situation much more complicated. The places I called needed the most help on week days. After calling several places and visiting some of the locations, I decided to try another day and went to work. While I was at work, I was having a conversation with one of the young lady s that exercises there at the gym, I was telling her about my service learning, and that I had been looking all day but could not yet find one that would work with my schedule. As I was telling her this, someone overheard the conversation and said... Nicole said that they always needed volunteers there, and all I had to do, was to talk to the volunteer coordinator Adam Baker. • 4. Forensic Examination Of Forensic Science Forensic science is defined as science that pertains to law. Forensic science is used during investigations of a crime scene. Many forensic techniques are used during the investigation of crime scenes. These techniques are applied to what is considered to be trace evidence. Trace evidence is evidence left at the scene of the crime that helps tell the story of what had happened and could possibly lead to a suspect. The reliability of forensic evidence testing is a widely debated topic in the world of forensic science. The new Gold standard in evidence is DNA analysis, because of its reliability. Finger printing as well as ballistics are often used but are said to be imperfect compared to DNA analysis. DNA analysis is deemed the most reliable because it has faced rigorous scientific experimentation. Fingerprinting is one of the oldest tool of forensic analysis. Fingerprinting is done by dusting a latent print with aluminum flakes. This print is then photographed and picked up by clear adhesive tape. This is where some of the controversy comes in. Fingerprint powders can contaminate the prints and ruin the opportunity to perform other techniques that could result in more information. Another problem that arises in the courtroom with fingerprinting is how is it determined that someone has touched that exact object and how are fingerprint collected by the crime scene investigator. • 5. Analysis Of The Veldt By Ray Bradbury Christian Lous Lange once said Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master. Ray Bradbury, would agree with this quote completely because in his story, The Veldt , he shows how too much technology can affect families by using conflicts between a set of parents and their children. Technology can be obsessive, and can cause people to become unfocused at what s at hand. In this story, Bradbury uses a failing family unit, obsession of materials, and lack of discipline to show that not reprimanding kids can have grave consequences. Through several of the disrespectful actions made by the kids, Bradbury is portraying that the lack of respect is leading to the failing of a family unit. Peter looked at his shoes. He never looks at his father anymore, nor his mother. When people respect one another, they make eye contact while speaking, Peter does not even have enough respect for his dad to look him in the eye. On what. Peter yells this at his dad when he does not hear what he wants. The fact that he cannot make eye contact with his dad, and also yell at him like that, shows the amount of hate he has for his father. This lack of respect is further portraying how there s no family unit because they act as individuals instead of a whole. Ray Bradbury also uses Peter and Wendy s obsession with their home, especially their nursery, to show what can happen if people spoil their kids along with no discipline. ... tie my own shoes, brush my own teeth, comb my hair, and give myself a bath? This is Peter complaining about having to do things on his own that is house usually does for him. Peter saying these things is a perfect example of how spoiled these children are. They screamed and pranced and threw things. They yelled and sobbed and swore and jumped at the furniture. Peter and Wendy are doing these things when the parents shut down the kid s main obsession, the nursery. Them acting like this, and showing no respect for their other things, along with Peter not being able to do anything on his own perfectly portrays how spoiling kids is bad thing to do. When parents spoil their kids, they grow up to be mean and have no respect for anyone or anything. Discipline plays big roles in people s lives, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Factors That Affect The Activity Of Contractile Activity During prolonged activity, muscles show a decline in ability to respond to stimulation with optimal levels of contractile activity; this is a phenomena denoted as muscle fatigue (MF) (1). The causes of MF are not yet understood, however there are many observations of associations between metabolic and biochemical factors with MF. In order for force to be generated by muscles, calcium ions which are released from the sarcoplasmic reticulum bind to troponin. The new troponin Ca2+ complex cause s tropomyosin to change shape, exposing the binding site on actin. Myosin then binds to actin, causing cross bridge tilting, and generating contraction (1). Lactic acid is commonly perceived as a primary cause of MF to due to its intracellular muscle acidosis effects. Acidosis lowers the sensitivity of the contractile apparatus to calcium ions, because the H+ ions competes against Ca2+ for binding to certain binding sites on troponin. (2).This leads to decreased force development. However, low pH has many effects which do not favour development of MF, such as its ability to help maintain excitability, and decreased rate of fatigue. Overall, there is little evidence suggesting that the net effect of lactic acid results in MF. Potassium ions is a metabolite which decreases calcium ion release from the SR. Shifts in levels of potassium and calcium ions in and around skeletal muscle fibres will alter the membrane potential of the muscle cell, making it more or less prone to stimulation. ... This lead to the first official IR theory of realism in Thomas Hobbes, amd Hans Morgenthau, known as Classical Realist. From there Classical Realism evolved to the ideas of Kenneth Waltz, which brought along the ideas of neo realism or structural realism theory. Then came offensive, defensive, and neoclassical realism. System and Power A system, from a neorealist point of view is described by Waltz as A system is composed of a structure and of interacting units. The structure is the system wide component that makes it possible to think of the system as a whole. Waltz furthermore goes into how to define a structure A structure is defined by the arrangement of its parts. (Waltz, 1979) Bringing the neorealism theory that looking at politics, structure is the arrangement of the states, not the collection of them. This leads in to the neorealism idea that there is no central authority, and the world depends on balance (Sterling Folker, 2013). That the one thing structure or balance depends on is the states, not NGOs or other actors. From a classical realism perspective according to Morgenthau s It is a characteristic aspect of all politics, domestic as well as international, that frequently its basic manifestations do not appear as what they actually are manifestations of a struggle for power . • 13. Primordial and Modernist Schooling Primordial school Primordial school and modernist school are two very important main streams in identity study. Especially, in the national identity study, both of them have involved the study of nationalism and have a very unlike view of it. And they are often highly debated of the origins of nations and their identity. The root of primordial school is originally based on the German romanticism and it mainly argues how those fixed factors influence in identity shape process. Those factors are constantly stable throughout the history and hardly changed. The factors have been passed on to generations and constructing the identity of people who lives in nowadays. For example, language is one of these elements. Language is unique and distinct from other ones. People who speak this language will have their own identity and formed a special group which makes them different from other language speaking groups. And in primordial school idea, same language speaking group will result in similar thought. Because of people learn language from the community where they live and each community will has its thought or behavior. These will transmit to people who learn that language. Therefore, for primordial school language is one of the key elements in identity shaping. Another pivotal and principle factor for shaping identity is the kinship. • 14. Market Research Methods For Business Market research methods in business Primary research is data that is gathered first hand from an original source, and has not been collected before. It often involves going out and asking people for information, hence its alternative name field research. Observational research involves watching and observing people s activities. For example, businesses use cookies on their websites in order to track what pages users are visiting on their website. By using cookies, businesses will be able to know what pages are most popular among users on their website. Information collected through cookies can also help businesses improve marketing and their website. Experimental research is when an investigation or test is conducted in order to discover new opportunities which can help to maximise revenues for a business. This could be done by aiming their product at a different demographic e.g. elderly people and modifying (or experimenting with) their product to make it more appealing to that demographic. Surveys involve asking people questions in order to collect information about what people think about something. This can be done face to face, by telephone, by post and online too. E marketing research involves using the internet to contact and interact with consumers about a businesses product(s). Examples of e marketing include online surveys and cookies (as mentioned before). A focus group is a research method in which a small group of people are asked to give their opinions and ... • 15. Analysis Of Goodfellas Sound and music have long since been staples of the gangster genre, used both to add more tension in suspenseful scenes, or to immerse an audience in the time period of the film. These examples and many like it are most notably used in the 1990 Gangster film Goodfellas by Martin Scorsese, who uses these to set the atmosphere of each scene, and reinforce the running narrative of the film. Goodfellas retells the story of American born gangster Henry Hill, and the rise and fall of him and his way of life from the 50 s through the 80 s. I picked Goodfellas as the focal point of this essay because of it s use of music and sound to set it s story s atmosphere both visually, and through auditory means. Billy Batts is a made member of the Luchese crime family, first introduced in The Suite Lounge, where he mocks Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) about him once being a shoe shiner. Eventually, Tommy and his associates beat Billy Batts within an inch of his life while the song Atlantis by Donovan starts to play. Atlantis breaks the repetition of love songs that had preceded it, instead replacing it with a fantasy song. While in no way a sad song, Atlantis shows Henry s rising uncertainties with his romanticized lifestyle, showing that he still loves the fantasy of it, but isn t in love with all aspects of it. Additionally, Atlantis s lyrics, which do appear to have romantic backing, also contain more morose lyrics like gotta tell me where she gone and Way down below the ocean where I want to be. These wistful lines parallel Henry s inner monologue in this scene, showing his clear want to return to the romanticized, clean cut world that he had known just previous to this scene. This subtle narrative change in direction isn t confined to Goodfellas either, appearing in Arthur Penn s Bonnie and Clyde. With Bonnie and Clyde, shortly after Buck Barrow s death and after Bonnie is shot, Clyde has her and C.W. hide in a field whilst he goes to commandeer a car close by. As ... Andrew Jackson s presidency should be admired because he supported the common man and thought the rich were overrated, he also a well known war hero. This topic is relevant because Andrew Jackson made it so the people were treated as equals, and how different groups shouldn t be treated better just because of their money status. It also is relevant because our country wouldn t have double without the War of 182 or our success during the Revolutionary. Andrew Jackson wasn t born into the richest family, in fact he lived out most of his life an orphan. President Jackson always thought that the rich were over privileged or didn t deserve what they were given. Andrew Jackson wanted to make sure the common people felt just as equal as the rich. Jackson also was a well renowned war hero for his victory during the War of 1812 which gave the United States the ability to double in size or it wouldn t have given us the social status that was desired.Because Andrew Jackson was a common man himself, how did he put towards that part of his life into his acts as president? Andrew Jackson wasn t just a president, he was also a common man. Jackson was most famous because he believed in the common man, and that s what he fought for and how he wanted to model the country. • 20. Tattoos Are A Symbol Of Sexual And Bodily Freedom The practice of tattooing has been used around the globe for ages, particularly in tribal societies. However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century, regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio, larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons for this promiscuous stereotype s development in Western society, followed by its effects on male female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement. • 22. Revenge In Hamlet Hamlet is one of the most influential and time withstanding plays of all time. Created by William Shakespeare, Hamlet dabbles with the concepts of deceit, revenge, and death. Hamlet, the protagonist in Hamlet, is confronted with the challenge of taking part in revenge for his father s death, but he often finds himself lacking in taking action. Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher, accounts this lack of action for something far deeper than what lies on the surface. He construes that Hamlet is burdened with the knowledge that death triumphs over all being. What kills Hamlet s action is knowing that what lies in everyone s path is death and that since we all die there is no point in correcting your earthly state, in Hamlet s case: getting revenge. This explanation for Hamlet s delay, however, is not fully represented throughout the play. Hamlet has his bouts of hope and prevalently believes in taking revenge. However, it s in his subconscious that Nietzsche s statement holds true. Hamlet, fueled by his cynicism, slowly finds himself falling deeper into this state of depression throughout the play. The farther he falls down this rabbit hole, the clearer his understandings shine through from the beginning of the play. Hamlet s mind is clouded with grief when he is first introduced. He likens everything of this earth as weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable (I.ii.132), as if the mere thought of being on this earth is useless. Hamlet from the get go, in his ... Throughout our day we like to take on more then one task at a time to finish something faster or to minimize time but research has shown that task switch can cost us time. Stephen Monsell (2003) conducted a study called Task Switching and concluded that switching between tasks can cause us time because the brain required loading time , which hinders the focus on the actual task. Loading time lets our brain focus completely on one task and when that loading time isn t completed it becomes hard to focus on that specific task; let alone execute it correctly. Regardless of who you are or where you come from there s one instrumental factor we all share. We all were raised by a parent, parents, or guardian that was key in who we became. While like many things Americans cannot seem to agree on which stratagem is best in child rearing it is indelible that the common goal of every parent is for their son or daughter to succeed and find happiness in life. However, this has given rise to some extreme forms of parenting producing helicopter parents and tiger moms; Parents that feel the need to control every aspect of their child s life to either keep them safe or make them the best when compared to others. In the end everyone wants to be a good parent, but helicopter parents and other groups like them are, in the long term, hindering more than helping their child towards a successful future. In the past 25 years alone parenting has been making a major shift according to marriage therapist John Becker the general goals of parenting haven t see too much variance over the years but the focus and outcomes have (Morman). • 38. Government s Military Interventions Toward Native Peoples... The primary memory of United States westward expansion in the 19th century is one of triumph because it doubled the nation s territory and increased trade. However, the Old West during the 19th century was characterized by America s brutal obsession with expansion and the concept of American exceptionalism. In Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, Judge Holden celebrates the human nature of violence and its necessity to find order in chaos. Blinded by the greed for control, he refuses to acknowledge the norms of civilized behavior. Similarly, under the principles of the Manifest Destiny, the U.S. government s military interventions toward Native peoples overlooked violence. These parallels reflect the exceptionalist idea that one is inherently more virtuous and entitled to higher purposes. Historians and primary accounts confirm the parallelism that McCarthy draws between violence and American history. Therefore, preconceived notions about the positive aspects of American expansionism are overturned by the significance of its underlying violence. Attempts to justify westward expansion with Manifest Destiny advocated the pursuit of historical erasure. The American westward movement rooted from the brutality of American exceptionalism and destructive manipulation of history. Even the ritual ceremony of the banishment is kept close to the original story. Another big similarity is the retaining of the main themes. Although some considerably large changes are made throughout the process of adapting the book into a film, they still found a way to retain the main themes. There is no denying that, this is a wonderful accomplishment of the director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, 2014). To conclude, the book and the film have both similarities and differences. The thought processes of the protagonist are not portrayed in the film and the time span is reduced. Given these facts the reader of the book becomes more immersed in the story, than the viewers of the film. Another factor is the change of character traits of most peripheral characters. This has thoroughly altered the story, furthermore, it affects the connection viewers have with the characters and the story. Thus, this causes the film to be less vivacious than the ... • 43. The Two Component Stressors Introduction Bacteria are prone to various stressors so they need to sense and respond to these fluctuating conditions in order to survive. Two component plays an important role in the bacterial kingdom to sense and adapt themselves to these varieties of stressors, for example oxidative stress, protein misfolding, nutrient starvation and many more. It is first described by Ninfa and Magasanik (1986) in the study of nitrogen starvation in Escherichia coli. Two component system consists of a sensor histidine kinase and its cognate response regulator (Koretke,K.K. 2000). Sensor histidine kinase is bifunctional which means it can function as both kinase and phosphatase. It autophosphorylates itself upon sensing a signal, whereby the phosphoryl group from ATP molecule is transferred to a specific histine residue on the histidine kinase. It then acts as phosphodonor substrate for its cognate response regulator. The cognate response regulators is acting as phosphatase to the histidine kinase as it catalyses the transfer of the phosphoryl group from histidine kinase to its conserved aspartic acid residue. Once phosphorylated, response regulator undergoes conformational change which activates the output domain leading to either stimulation or repression of the targeted genes. As mentioned earlier on, histidine kinase protein also acts as phosphatase for its cognate response regulator if it is not stimulated to autophosphorylate. This system has vast variations and the common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As technology advances there continues to be more of an opportunity for things to go wrong. The ability of our society to obtain information has been becoming as easy as it has ever been. I simple line into the google search bar and you are looking at millions upon millions of lings and opportunities to attain information. Hard goods pirates also use the Internet to sell illegally duplicated DVDs through auctions and websites. While trafficking copyrighted works through increasingly sophisticated electronic means, such as peer to peer file trading networks, Internet chat rooms, and newsgroups, has an ever increasing negative impact on cultural industries, it is also argued that curtailing this phenomenon limits the right of access to information, knowledge and culture (4). The problem in trying to prevent digital copyright infringement is tied up in the problem of regulating the Internet an almost impossible feat, considering the World Wide Web today comprises more than 100 million individual Web sites. Regulators have been severely tried in recent years with the rise of peer to peer networks, with the most infamous being Napster. The brainchild of a 19 year old college student, Napster launched in 1999 and revolutionized the way music sharing was conducted online. However, with such a quick rise to success comes the inevitable problems; in this case, the problems arose in the form of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and copyright lawsuits. While users of Napster saw nothing wrong with sharing music, the RIAA, which represents the four major music labels, saw the situation quite differently. By late 2000, the courts had ruled that Napster must restrict access to copyrighted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Among many individuals that have been sexual abused on a legal criteria later report the emotions of feeling scared or hopeless in later relationships. Having programs available for the children and families can help built a trusting relationship between the two and allow closure to all. Advertising this program in schools such as middle to high school aged students will allow them to understand the information and pass it on. During this time period we will have professionals available in that specialty to set up time and dates in which meetings can be held to discuss the issues going on. These sort of topics can be hard to discuss for the child and the family so easing into the meetings will require more than one meet time. To reach this audience I want to show the importance and statistics of children suffering from abuse mentally and physically. These emotions aren t just temporary and can have long term effects on everyone. Role I have chosen to start this organization with reaching out to schools around a community. I started with the parents that have children going to this school sending out a newsletter letting them know there are ways to talk about the issues in sexual abuse they think their child may be facing. Starting with the teachers, I created a list of 7 things each teacher needs to know to prevent child sexual abuse. This prevention program will help teachers better understand what they are looking for in their students and noticing things that may stick out to help them at an early stage. Know the facts. ... • 49. Hollins University Personal Statement Sample I would like to apply for Summer Statistical Research Experience Undergraduate Program. I heard about this internship from my Math professor, Dr. Julie Clark. I am an international student from Nepal. I intend to major in Mathematics Statistics, and Environmental Science at Hollins University. I have a comprehensive background in Mathematics and Science, my emphasis is research and data collection. I enjoy this concentration because I find great satisfaction being part of the problem solving process. Through a previous internship in Nepal with Trail Bridge Support Units (TBSU), I was able to work in rural villages and connect with villagers. Our goal was to construct sustainable trail bridges that would connect two communities. I assisted with data collection; surveying local people to pinpoint their needs. Since I spoke with villagers directly, I was able to find the middle ground between former data and people s needs making progress in TBSU s goal to carry out bridge construction. • 50. Lady Macbeth Lady Macbeth Lady Macbeth is the most interesting and complex character in the play. She is, in fact, the point on which the action pivots: without her there is no play. Macbeth s most interesting and complex character is most certainly, as the question states, Lady Macbeth. The purpose of this essay is to describe Lady Macbeth s role in the play and discuss why this makes her the most fascinating character. Her evil doings are the main reasons why she dominates the plot so greatly. These include the following: considers Macbeth to be a wimp not wanting to murder; letting Macbeth fulfill her plan; taking control over Macbeth s thoughts and actions; turning Macbeth from a loyal man to a greedy, coldhearted human being. This change in character is truly remarkable considering her dominant nature in Acts one and two. The transformation of the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is another interesting part of Lady Macbeth. In acts one and two their relationship is strong and loving. This strength is shown when Macbeth agreements to conduct his wife s plans because of a threat Lady Macbeth made to take away her love. This meant Macbeth was essentially willing to kill so that his relationship with Lady Macbeth continued. After the murder and the crowning of Macbeth the once strong relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth rapidly deteriorates, so much so that when Macbeth hears of his wife s death he does not feel any emotion what so ever. When Macbeth became king he and his wife rarely saw each other as Macbeth was occupied in running and protecting Scotland and also himself. At this stage (acts three and four) in the play Lady Macbeth s role is not as evident but when she did make appearances they were usually important to the plot. At the beginning Lady Macbeth finds strength to lure Macbeth to murder King Duncan and to commit the murder herself. As the play progresses, her apparent strength diminishes as she fights ...
