Design Report CAD Visualisation and BIM MIMA3016-N.pdfShingiraiJoe
The document provides a design report for a proposed luxurious cottage house mini in Oslo, Norway for client Mr. Shingirai Joe. The architect was tasked with ensuring the design meets the client's needs and Norwegian building standards while providing a simplistic yet aesthetically pleasing modern design. The 142 square meter cottage takes inspiration from an American design and features two separate living and sleeping wings with plenty of natural light. Renderings and floor plans illustrate the exterior, interior, and site layout of the single-story cottage which will provide housing for 4 people upon completion.
3D printing is recently developing its place in the world of construction. In this PPT the history, role, importance, types, impact, equity and efficacy ,interdisciplinary approach , euquity and value of 3d prinitng is explained.
This document summarizes a presentation given by Peter Marchese of Microdesk and Clive Jordan of Plannerly about better managing BIM projects. It introduces challenges like unclear responsibilities and scopes, too many clashes, and wasted time. Plannerly is presented as a solution to plan scopes and schedules collaboratively in one platform, track tasks, and verify BIM compliance. An example project describes how Plannerly helped create clear LOD tables for a large, multi-phase project in less time than traditional methods. The presentation concludes by inviting questions.
This document provides an overview of 3D printing in construction. It discusses the history of 3D printing, general principles such as modeling and printing, and examples of 3D printed buildings. The key advantages of 3D printing in construction are reduced material costs and waste, quicker construction timelines allowing contractors to take on more projects, improved safety by reducing dangerous tasks, and the ability to create unique architectural designs. Overall, 3D printing provides a cheaper and more efficient approach to construction compared to traditional methods.
Bim based process mining master thesis presentation Stijn van Schaijk
The document discusses using building information modeling (BIM) and process mining techniques to enable knowledge reassurance and problem discovery in construction and facility management. It describes case studies applying these methods, including analyzing a road design process with over 140,000 events and 1 specification with 1,904 process steps. Continuous on-site monitoring using drone scans and comparing as-built models to as-planned BIM models is also demonstrated. Process mining analytics can identify bottlenecks, social networks, and deviations to facilitate improved planning and risk identification for future projects.
This document provides an overview of the July 2020 edition of the magazine Nova Architecture. It discusses several technological advances in architecture enabled by 3D printing, drones, robotics, BIM modeling, virtual reality, and sustainable design tools. These technologies are improving architects' design process by allowing faster modeling, on-site scanning, interactive design review, and energy efficient simulations. The article also explores how 3D printed wood structures and water features are pushing the boundaries of architectural design and construction beyond traditional concrete and steel approaches.
3D concrete printing is a construction technique that uses computer-controlled layering of materials to build structures. The process involves using a 3D printer to extrude concrete layer-by-layer according to a digital model. Research into 3D concrete printing began in 2008 at Loughborough University in the UK. Some key advantages are reduced construction time, lower costs, and less environmental impact compared to traditional construction methods. However, 3D printing also has limitations such as restricted build sizes and potential health impacts from emitted materials.
This document provides an overview of the June 2022 edition of the magazine Nova Architecture. It discusses several emerging technologies in architecture, including 3D printing, drones, robotic architecture, BIM methodology, virtual reality, and sustainable design techniques. A new type of construction using wood instead of steel and concrete is highlighted as an environmentally friendly alternative. The document also explores innovative uses of water in architecture, with examples of pools integrated into homes in unique ways that interact with sunlight.

This document discusses the benefits of implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) on projects. It argues that BIM, when used comprehensively ("BIG BIM"), can transform the construction industry by improving efficiency, reducing waste, and enabling more informed decision-making. In contrast, using only certain BIM tools or on small portions of a project ("little bim") will not achieve these full benefits. The document urges industry professionals to embrace BIG BIM in order to create a more productive and sustainable built environment.
The document discusses three potential solutions for providing affordable housing to underprivileged communities: earthbag construction, geodesic domes, and 3D printed houses. After analyzing each based on durability, cost, availability, and other factors, the author concludes that geodesic domes are the best solution. As prefabricated domes can be quickly assembled on-site with minimal logistics and labor, the author argues this approach allows for high-volume construction to address the global housing shortage.
Industry Revolution 4.0 by Creator MakerspaceSjur Usken
An overview of the Industrial Revolution and how maker space fits into exploring the new business opportunities arising. Robots, 3D printing, Internet of Things, artificial intelligens and cloud computing accelerating each other into new industries.
Automation is the use of control systems and machinery to reduce the need for human intervention in processes. It has increasingly important roles in both the global economy and daily life. Engineers strive to combine automated devices with tools to create complex systems for a wide range of applications. Close-range digital photogrammetry is a technique used in civil engineering for tasks like deformation measurement, crack measurement, and strain analysis. 3D scanning technologies have advanced significantly over time. Early laser scanners produced large polygon files that were difficult to work with due to data size constraints. Octree representation was developed to spatially sort 3D data in a hierarchical tree structure, enabling more efficient processing and multi-resolution representation. Advancements in time-of-flight scanning increased scanning speeds to over a million points per second. 3D scanning technologies are poised to infiltrate many new industries and applications as costs decrease, including 3D biometrics, manufacturing, and virtual/augmented reality. These technologies may fundamentally change how physical objects are captured, represented, and interacted with.

5th LF Energy Power Grid Model Meet-up SlidesDanBrown980551
5th Power Grid Model Meet-up
It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.
