This is part 1 of my Kubernetes architecture deep-dive slide series.
I have been working with Kubernetes for more than a year, from v1.3.6 to v1.6.7, and I am a CNCF certified Kubernetes administrator. Before I move on to something else, I would like to summarize and share my knowledges and take-aways about Kubernetes, from a software engineer perspective.
This set of slides is a humble dig into one level below your running application in production, revealing how different components of Kubernetes work together to orchestrate containers and present your applications to the rest of the world.

Jenkins is a tool that supports continuous integration by automatically building, testing, and deploying code changes. It integrates code changes frequently, at least daily, to avoid "big bang" integrations. Jenkins runs builds and tests across multiple platforms using slave nodes. It supports various source control systems and build tools and notifies developers of failed builds or tests through email or other plugins.
Red Hat OpenShift 4 allows for automated and customized deployments. The Full Stack Automation method fully automates installation and updates of both the OpenShift platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS host operating system. The Pre-existing Infrastructure method allows OpenShift to be deployed on user-managed infrastructure, where the customer provisions resources like load balancers and DNS. Both methods use the openshift-install tool to generate ignition configs and monitor the cluster deployment.
This document provides an overview of Docker and the author's experience. It discusses key Docker concepts like images, containers, the Dockerfile and Docker Engine. It also summarizes Docker benefits like portability, scalability and efficiency. Components like Docker Hub, Docker Machine and orchestration tools are briefly introduced. SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.
