Here are the key points I gathered from your introduction:
- You have experience initiating and participating in process improvement projects at your company.
- You see project management as a broad term that can apply to any effort to implement change or improvement.
- One of the largest projects you managed was a Greenbelt (PMP) project to streamline communication between engineering and manufacturing regarding change orders.
- As the bill of materials specialist with 8+ years experience, you were the first point of contact for change orders, making you well-suited to participate in this project.
- The goal of the project was to eliminate email correspondence and create a more efficient form of communication for change orders.

PROJECT CHARTER
Project Authorization
This Charter formally authorizes the website project to develop a new business restaurant website for customer use. A project plan will be developed and submitted to the Project Sponsor for approval. The project plan will include: scope statement; schedule; cost estimate; budget; and provisions for scope, resource, schedule, communications, quality, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management as well as project control. The Project Manager, Natalia Kondekova, will assign all resources.
Project Scope
The purpose of this assignment and PowerPoint presentation is to provide the class a project description that demonstrates what I have learned during my studies here at the La Roche College. One of the things that I have learned is how to code in HTML and create a simple website. I have decided to design a website for my uncle’s business. The main goal is to create a fully functioning, updateable website for customers. 700 Pizza & Gyro House do not have currently a website, so the need for one is very high. The project deliverables shall include a fully built website, help guides to update and further build the website, and all project documents. There is variety of tools to be used. I have decided to use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Notepad editor, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), own Images & computer. Hyper Text Markup Language is the main markup language for creating web pages written in the form of HTML elements consisting of tags enclosed in angle brackets. The purpose of a web browser is to read HTML documents and compose them into visible or audible web pages.
Project Manager Role
A project manager is the person responsible for the planning, execution and coordination of whole project. He or she is required to think outside of the box and present innovative and realistic solutions to any problems that might prevent the project achieving its objectives on time and on budget. As a project manager it would be up the person to initiate, supervise and ensure the completion of a project. There are many others, who are included in the web project management such as a database developed, a HTML coder, usability lead or others. In this project, I was the one responsible for all duties to deliver the project to completion. The project sponsor or stakeholder is the person or group responsible for initiating the web site project. In most instances the sponsor is the client or customer for the web site development work, but in smaller in-house department projects such as this, the sponsoring manager and the web project manager may be the same person.
Summary Milestone Schedule
The “700 Pizza & Gyro House Website Project” will be submitted and approved in accordance with the milestone schedule below. Upon approval of the project plan resources will be assigned to the project and work will commence within 3 ...
The document discusses a project on the project life cycle. It explains that a project life cycle typically involves five stages: initializing, planning, execution, controlling, and closing. It also describes two common life cycle models - the stretched-S model and exponential model. The stretched-S model involves slow initial progress that speeds up during implementation before slowing again at closure. The exponential model involves continuous activity across numerous aspects. Effective project managers build trust with stakeholders through face-to-face interaction, but this trust can fade over time due to a project's dynamic environment involving uncertainties and rapid changes.
The document summarizes a half-day workshop on project management. The workshop covers understanding business needs and justifying projects, the project life cycle, developing a project charter, managing scope, schedule and budget using the triple constraints, planning and executing projects, communication plans, closing projects, and continuous improvement.

The document discusses the benefits of using an IT methodology for project management. It states that an IT methodology provides:
1) A repeatable organizational process for developing and supporting products and applications consistently and on time/budget.
2) Consistency in delivering applications through established roles, responsibilities, plans, and deliverables.
3) Optimized communication across project stakeholders, business users, and IT teams through clear understanding of the project methodology.
4) Mechanisms for senior management to govern IT resources and prioritize applications based on business needs.
A project management office, according to a study conducted by the Project Management Institute (PMI), promotes the sharing of resources, processes, tools, and techniques.
This document provides an overview of a software implementation project. The project aims to implement new software at a company to increase productivity and update security and hardware. The project will use agile methodology over approximately 100 days with a budget of $250,000. The document outlines the project plan, including the communication plan, risk management plan, procurement plan, and stakeholder register. It discusses both the potential positive and negative impacts of video games on adolescents.
Deliverable 2 - Using Visuals to Enhance Viewer PerceptionCompet.docxtheodorelove43763
Deliverable 2 - Using Visuals to Enhance Viewer Perception
Competency
Analyze and interpret perceptual elements of visual media communication to identify effective visual messages.
Scenario
You have been hired by a large law enforcement agency to analyze the images used on advertising billboards in both urban and suburban regions. The billboards visually display a new campaign message to improve neighborhood safety.
During your analysis, you find that the images used on billboards in the urban areas are exactly the same as the images used in the suburban areas. Both images show parents happily talking with law enforcement officers while children run over green lawns having a fun balloon fight. You decide that these images are not sending proper perceptual messages. You decide to create a visual analysis video for the law enforcement agency to share with the administration
For the video visual analysis, you realize you will need to find two new images that are quite different from one another. One image will be used on the urban billboard, and the other image will be used on the suburban billboard. In your video presentation, you will compare and contrast how each image utilizes the following:
1. Compare and contrast the visual elements of cultural familiarity. Explain why it is important to use culturally familiar visuals that are quite different in the urban and suburban billboard images. Include specific visuals in your visual analysis.
2. Identify specific visual examples of the following cognitive elements: memories, experiences, and expectation. Compare and contrast how urban and suburban viewers may be affected differently by those specific cognitive visual elements.
3. Explain the difference between urban and suburban viewers' emotionally engagement with each of the billboard images.
4. Identify visual semiotic codes in both images: metonymic, analogical, displaced, and condensed. Discuss the importance of using these codes. Include specific visuals in each part of your visual analysis.
As you outline your ideas for the video, you decide to record your verbal analysis while analyzing the two visuals in less than seven minutes for added clarity.

So many projects, so much mismanagement. That's the refrain of many IT executives. Indeed, even with project
management software, IT projects often wind up taking longer (much longer) than planned and costing more than
budgeted.
While no two projects are exactly the same, the issues that can affect — and potentially jeopardize — them are
often quite similar. And even good project managers can make mistakes when wrangling a big, complex project —
or when being bombarded with change requests..

The document discusses common mistakes made by project managers and how to avoid them. It identifies the top 8 mistakes as: 1) Not meeting with the whole team upfront, 2) Not breaking large projects into smaller pieces, 3) Not prioritizing projects/tasks, 4) Forgetting that project management involves people management, 5) Not regularly communicating with the team, 6) Letting changes get out of hand through scope creep, 7) Not using project management tools, and 8) Failure to adjust when things go wrong. It provides tips and advice from experts on how to effectively manage projects and avoid these common pitfalls.

Through its creation, an organization is at a position assessing the task and the prospective outcomes of the given project. Similarly, it is a component that ensures that the organization justifies its mission statement in relation to the project. An organization is also at a position of underlining scope statement of the project as well as the regulation of the utmost deliverables. Last but not least, a project charter ensures that the organization effectively applies the technical requirements, assumptions as well as to the constraints of the given project (Doraiswamy et al., 2012). In this paper, it takes turn emphasizing more regarding a description of a narrative project in conformance to all the components essential for a viable project charter development.

In this unit, we discuss the activities needed to occur once we terminate a project. The termination could be

Project Closing
All planned projects should have an endpoint. Having an absolute end is a part of the definition of what a
project is. Once all of the work activities have been completed and the deliverables have been accepted, then
it is time to close out the project. Many times, the project manager (PM) will not do the closing activities. The

organization may not require closing activities, or closing activities may not be considered a necessity. In
some cases, the PM is ready to move on to the next project. However, the importance of closing project
activities cannot be understated.
What are some of the activities needed when closing a project?
While the project deliverables should have been delivered and accepted, in some cases, final project reports
have not been created. These final reports may or may not be considered as being a part of the final
deliverables. For example, deliverable reports might include results of testing or quality reports.
Reports that are a part of project closing might include a report of project changes, a communication log, a
risk assessment matrix, or lessons learned. These types of reports would need to be organized and archived
with all of the project information for future reference.
A part of closing activities would include making final payments to vendors and suppliers. Also, any monies
owed to the organization would need to be collected. This is referred to as an accounting closeout. Team
members would need to be recognized and .

This white paper discusses two approaches for more effective project management: 1) A framework for proactively identifying and preventing defects in processes to avoid schedule delays. It involves examining processes end-to-end and getting stakeholder input to find bottlenecks. 2) An approach called "Building Blocks" to systematically capture organizational process knowledge and lessons learned from past projects in an easy-to-access database, including common risks and mitigation strategies for standard project components. The goal is to help project managers complete projects on time by giving them readily available knowledge about past process issues.
This document discusses proactive process management and applying lessons learned to improve project management. It proposes two frameworks: 1) a framework for proactive defect prevention that identifies pain points and bottlenecks in processes through stakeholder input and 2) building blocks to systematically capture organizational knowledge, process issues and risks to help resolve issues and improve future project delivery. The frameworks aim to help project managers deliver projects on time by improving underlying processes.

You’ve also got to consider your most important asset – your employees. Inefficient project workflow management will have a negative impact on your employee morale. This is certainly something you don’t want to potentially flush down the drain. So, how can you get project management right? DOCUMENTATION. Breaking down your project with workflow documentation will help you get the bigger picture of your project and all variables involved in its completion. We love finding how work can be compartmentalized into a workflow for a streamlined experience, and we’re going to show you how you can do that with your project management.
Project workflow management involves documenting all the tasks, tools, responsibilities, and processes involved in a project from start to finish. This includes creating a standardized template that lists out each step, the resources needed, and who is responsible for each task. Implementing project workflow management provides benefits like completed tasks following standards, increased project visibility, reduced errors and risks, and standardized processes across departments. Software can help automate workflows and provide a centralized place to store all project documentation for increased organization, accountability and productivity.

In this unit, we discuss the activities needed to occur once we terminate a project. The termination could be
because we successfully completed all of the work and handed the deliverables to the customer, or there
could be reasons why we need to terminate the project early.

Project workflow management requires a ton of documentation. From establishing the desired result and project goals, to determining an accurate deadline, it’s important work. And if you don’t do it right, it costs your business in time and money. But you’re not just gambling with your business’s time and money.

1. JIT Project
Making a list of the problems in this case will give us a better view of what is going wrong with the
JIT project.
1. Supplier management expert not working out
2. Stakeholder conflict about tasks execution
3. People complaining of lack of communication
4. IT overallocation for critical path tasks
5. Supplier management intro course prototype was not well received
6. Possibility of increased cost by seller of the course
As we can see, there are numerous issues with this project. Does this mean that the project is headed
for failure? I would argue not necessarily. Surely, if this list of issues is not addressed, the likelihood
of the project failure will skyrocket.
We can see that numbers 1 and 4 are HR issues. For #1, the PM and HR would need to sit down
with the expert and either fix the problem, or look for another expert. There are pro's and con's to
both of these options, so it would be preferrable to keep the expert but fix the problem. Hiring a new
SME would cost additional time and money to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the PM should again go through this list and address each one in their own way.
1. Fix the SME problem, ensuring that the project team and sponsor are aware of the issue
2. Explain to the stakeholders why the team has decided to execute tasks and the reasons for not
doing it another way. Stakeholders aren't the ones managing the project and need to trust in the
project manager and project team.
3. Figure out where the communication breakdown is an fix it. I would argue that in this case, there
appears to be a lack of communication on all fronts and that it is detrimental to a project of any type.
4. Whatever the fix is, it must be communicated to the project sponsor and stakeholders as to why
there is either an increase in budget or porject duration. I explained the issues
4. Managing Projects
Project Scheduling why is it so Important?
Cecelia Williams
Columbia Southern University
MBA 6941, Managing Project Teams
Professor Jim Marion
26 June 2012
Managing any type of project big or small is no easy task. Is a powerful communication tool for
scheduling? During my career and personal life I didn't realize how many projects that I dealt on a
daily basis because anything that you do regardless if it is related to each other and directed toward a
common goal or output needs some type of scheduling to be successful. For example going to my
niece wedding if my daughter would have had a schedule on what she was going to do instead
waiting until the last minute which interferes with my scheduling. So, that is why ... Show more

In project scheduling you normally will have the "finish–to–start relationship" (Brown & Hyer,
2010, pg 207). Level of details is an important development in project scheduling, because you don't
have all of the details on the project it can become a failure. Network logic "dependencies based on
what is known as hard logic or soft logic" (Brown & Hyer, 2010, pg 206). Hard logic is
mandatory for the relationship in getting the project done; Soft logic is sequential to the relationship
of the team and what they really want to get the project on schedule (Brown & Hyer, 2010). To
make sure the impact of all of these concepts are keep in the schedule of developing the project from
the beginning to close. Project scheduling tools, also known as project management software, are
designed to help you organize and manage projects more efficiently. I also think every project needs
to have a schedule and framework of their project, and have it mapped or using any of the schedule
tools that are available nowadays, Using the tools that are available will give the project manager
the visibility to have all of the team members to be encourage and having meeting to make sure that
you are accurate and have all information. "Despite the benefits of project scheduling software,

6. Project Plan For Project Management
As part of the Defence integrated workforce, I would like to work under the broad direction of the

the achievement of project outcome along with best practices in project management methodologies.
The below statement briefly captures my project management skills and qualities that I would like to

constraints.
During the project initiation phase, I can work collaboratively with the project sponsor in the
development of project charter and lead up to the formal authorisation of the project/ new phase.
From the sponsor's project SOW (Business need, product scope), Business case etc., I can identify
measurable project objectives, high level requirements, risks, summary milestones and budget and
approval authorities. The key deliverables in this phase are project charter and stakeholder lists.
During the project planning phase, I can work effectively towards the development of project
management subsidiary plans to execute, monitor and control and close projects. I will contribute
towards the planning of the scope in assuring that the project includes all the work required and only
the work required. I will do this by conducing interviews, focus group, facilitated workshops etc., I

Garmin standards. I had to adjust the size of some icons, text, and move buttons around. In many
cases I submitted multiple different possible layouts for the changed pages so that our UI team could
pick the option that looked best.
Wiki Pages – Created a wiki page for new hires and interns on our team to show them how to use
the GIT repo our team had. This shows how to get it set up and how to use the features of GIT that
were used on the team I was on.
Main Project Details
Probably the single best project that describes my internship is the data logging project. This was a
project that I was given almost a month after I started but also lasted until almost the end of my
internship. This was also one of the largest projects I worked on that I can discuss in enough detail

13. Project Management : A Project Manager
A project is managed by a project manager. It has to be managed so there will not be any mistake
during the production. A project manager has to be an organized, and enthusiastic person who can
lead the project to success. A good project managers make the goal by their own and they use their
skills and share their purpose to the project team.
Becoming a project manager is difficult. They have a lot of roles to maintain the project running
fluently. They should calculate all the things needed for the project, but they could not make any
mistake. They also have to develop the trust and communication with the stakeholders, sponsors,
and the project team members itself. They work under pressure and have to adapt with the
environment.
As they have to get the trust from the sponsors and stakeholder, they have to determine and manage
the budget cost of the project, so the money will not be wasted. The budget have to be accurate and
effective, and to know about that, the project managers have to understand about the types of costs,
some methods for estimating the costs, and the timing and variety of the cost estimates. Also the
project managers have to know about the basics of budgeting and make sure about what they want
to do for the project.
There are 4 types of costs which used as the criterion of budgeting cost by the project manager.
There are Fixed Versus Variable Costs, Direct Versus Indirect Costs, Recurring Versus Nonrecurring

many sources; stakeholders, the entire team contributing ideas, SME's giving their concepts, among
others. It's not the PM entire responsibility and he/she must involve all the players when is
appropriate. When every single person directly related with the project collaborate to build the
project scope, the PM could frame an accurate scope statement describing items that will be
included and those that won't be included in the project.
5. Discuss project management related problems created due to "scope creep"
Scope creep can be avoided if the scope is built correctly with help from the entire team. If I as a
project manager not define with clarity what is going to be included, the project scope will change
again and again, affecting both, the duration and the cost of the project. The triple constrain concept
here is key, given the fact that time and cost will be affected. The best strategy to avoid scope creep
is develop and use a correct scope management plan.

21. A Research Project On Project Management Essay
Introduction
Working in the industry I do I have found myself in the position of either initiating or participating
the process improvement projects. I feel that project management is a very broad term for any type
of project that a company, or individual, uses to implement a change or improvement to a product or
service. With this definition, I concluded that one of biggest projects I ever managed was when I
was approached and began participating in a Greenbelt (PMP) project for a process that I utilize
daily basis. The intention of this project was to eliminate email correspondence and create a more
streamlined form of communication from engineering to manufacturing in regards to change orders.
As the bill of materials specialist for the configuration management team and having 8+ years'
experience in the field I was the first point of contact when it came to improvements or ideas.
Mission Statement
To begin a project a mission statement must be identified. "A mission statement states the purpose of
a project–its general direction and aims." (Leading Project Teams). A mission statement should be
clear and concise in nature and should establish the intention of the projects outcome. In this project
the mission statement, as mentioned above, was to ultimately to eliminate or reduce email
correspondence between departments. The mission statement indicated the project team responsible
for completing this project and the stakeholders who were responsible for the review and

There are five processes associated with project management and they are project initiation, project
planning, project execution, project monitoring, and project closure. Gary Allison was selected by
Henry Larsen as the project manager for the Orion Project. This was Gary's first time serving as a
project manager. Gary had no prior experience as a project manager. Because of Gary's inexperience
as a project manager he failed in most of the project processes. During the planning phase Gary
failed to involve all the stakeholders in the planning for example he did not involve the production
team. Establishing a communication plan between all stakeholders is very important to ensuring that
a project is successful. Gary never established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The project manager in a matrix structure has very little to no authority over projects. The culture of
the SEC allowed for employees to be dishonest with one another and clients to complete projects.
Dishonesty started with Henry Larsen requesting that Gary not to share with the client the inability
of the shields to work at higher temperatures. The initial dishonesty by Harry sent a message to Gary
that you do and say what is needed to complete the project. Since dishonesty was an accepted
behavior at SEC Gary made the decision to not report to Henry the problems with the age life being
less than what was initially reported to the client. This information should've been reported to the
client and the management of SEC as soon as it was discovered. The dishonesty at SEC can be seen
at all levels including the director of project management. Organizational structures and the culture
of a company have an influence on the way employees behave. Some structures make it easier for
bad cultural behavior to thrive. The organizational structure can weaken or strengthen a project
manager's authority. In an organization with a functional or matrix structure the project manager has
very little authority. Most of the authority is with the functional manager. This happens because the

27. Scope Of A Project Management Project
1. What is Scope? Scope is nothing but which refers to project boundaries where it determines what
work will be completed during the project lifecycle. This even includes identifying the work which
would not be included in the current round of product or service development. A scope in a project
is nothing but the proper planning which is made for the project which involves in determining and
even documenting a list of specific project goals, deliverables, tasks and deadlines. The
documentation which is made for the scope of the project clearly explains the boundaries of a
project and also establishes the responsibilities for each team member and sets up procedures for
how much the completed work will be verified and approved. The scope of the project which is
made helps the project team remained focused on the given task. The scope statement also provides
the project team leader or the facilitator with guidelines for making decisions about the change of
request which are being made during the implementation of the project. it would be better if the
project has a proper scope at the beginning or initial stages itself as it is quite natural for large
projects to their parts along the way. when documenting the scope of a project the stake holders
should be very specific regarding their work as one or more parts of a project ends up requiring
more work, time, effort because of poor planning or miscommunication Effective scope

29. Project Plan For Project Management Project
Initiation At the beginning of Project Initiation, a Project Manager is assigned, if not already present.
The Project Manager works with the Project Sponsor to identify the necessary resources and team
members needed to further develop the key project parameters – Cost, Scope, Schedule, and Quality
(CSSQ). The Project Team documents its charge in the form of a Project Charter, which is based on
the Project Proposal, which includes the initial Business Case. Approval of the Project Charter by
the Project Sponsor authorizes the designated team to begin the initial planning effort. Developing
the Project Charter is primarily concerned with documenting the business needs, project
justification, current understanding of the requirements, and the new product, service, or result that
is intended to satisfy those requirements. The Project Charter, either directly, or by reference to other
documents, should address the following information: Requirements that satisfy stakeholders' needs,
wants, and expectations. Business needs, high level project description, or product requirements that
the project is undertaken to address. Project purpose or justification. Assigned Project Manager and

31. Project Success : Project Management
Introduction The task of ensuring project success by project managers can be very challenging due
to different opinions of what constitutes project success. For a project manager to ensure project
success is achieved the project manager needs to have clear understandings and the criteria for
project success and also able to detect some key critical success factors that is needed for his/her
project. This essay however aims to understand how a project manager might help ensure success is
achieved in his or her project. This essay initially briefs about what project success constitutes and
the analysis of key success factors to project success; it finally concludes by What is project
success? There have been so many arguments by many authors concerning the criteria for judging
project success. According to Wit (1988) the appropriate criteria to identify the success of a project
is to measure the project with its objectives. There are also other traditional parameters which
suggest project is successful if it finishes on time, according to specified performance and within
budget (Akinson 1999 cites Oilsen 1971). But Prabhakar (2008) argues that schedule, budget and
performance alone are inadequate for measuring project success. Lock (2013) also notes that the
traditional parameters which are time, performance and cost relate mainly to the execution or
fulfilment stage of the project. He further agues that a project can only be considered successful if it

Projects are then scored and prioritized based on the criteria. Once projects are prioritized and those
priorities are reviewed and discussed, the department can evaluate the results to determine funding
and resource allocation for the higher priority projects.
A final step involves assessing how and when (or if) to fund the lower priority projects in the future
if/when more resources become available.
Creating and using a prioritization matrix involves five simple steps:
1. Determine your criteria and rating scale.
There are two components involved in rating the projects on your ¡§to do¡¨ list: criteria for assessing
importance, and a rating scale.
The first step is to determine the factors you will use to assess the importance of each project.
Choose factors that will clearly differentiate important from unimportant projects ¡V these are your
criteria. A group of 6–12 criteria is typical. Example criteria might include whether or not the project
is a mandate, the value it brings to the customer, etc.
Then, for each of your criteria, establish a rating scale to use in assessing how well a particular
project satisfies that criteria. To ensure consistent use of the rating scale, provide some details to
define how the criteria should be applied. The following table provides some examples:

36. Project Management : The Way A Project
Project Management
The way a project is conducted can have a significant impact on the success (PMBOK, 2013, p. 1)
and that is why best practices for project management are needed. A project's goal is to create a
product, service, or result, which can be tangible or intangible, but always needs to have a clear
beginning and ending (PMBOK, 2013, p. 3). Even though every project is different and unique, all
projects are created for long lasting outcomes (PMBOK, 2013, p. 3). Because of these reasons,
projects need management. Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and
techniques that guide the project to meet its purpose (PMBOK, 2013, p. 5). There are five process
groups that are: initiating, planning, executing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A controlling method would provide support and require compliance such as adopting project
management frameworks, using specific templates, or conformance. Finally, a Directive PMO
would take control of the project by highly directing all aspects of the project. PMOs have the
ability to maintain authority to act as stakeholders and descion makers throughout projects and even
terminate projects as they see fit (PMBOK, 2013, p. 11).
Project managers have the responsibility to make a strategy to complete the project as well as work
with the team (PMBOK, 2013, p. 17). This will generally include a balance of technical,
interpersonal, and conceptual skills that will help the analyze situations and react appropriately
(PMBOK, 2013, p. 17). While all projects need to have a start and an end, all the activities and
results that happen along the way will be different from project to project (PMBOK, 2013, p. 38).
The series of phases that a project goes through is called the project life cycle, which provides the
basic framework for managing the project (PMBOK, 2013, p. 38). A successful project is completed
with the terms, constraints of scope, time, cost, quality, resources, and risk in mind (PMBOK, 2013,
p. 35). In order for a project to be completed, it has to go through a project life cycle (PMBOK,
2013, p. 38), which is the most important part of any project.

40. Project Plan For A Project Management
Project Plan
Throughout the project, the Project Board uses the Project Plan as a baseline against which to
measure progress. As such, the Project Plan must contain the overall schedule and cost of the
project, as well as tolerances set by corporate/programme management. The Project Plan also
provides a high–level view of the project's management stages.
Stage Plan(s)
The Project Manager uses the Stage Plan as a baseline for everyday project management activities.

Exception Plan(s)
Strictly speaking, the Exception Plan does not occupy any one level within the project management
hierarchy. Instead, it may be created if a Stage Plan or a Project Plan goes into exception, i.e., if they
are forecast to exceed tolerance levels. In this situation, the Project Manager must submit an
Exception Report to the Project Board, articulating the details and impact of the exception, outlining
possible courses of action, and recommending one particular option for handing the problem. If
stage–level tolerances are likely to be exceeded then the Project Board will make a decision on the
situation; if project–level tolerances are forecast to be breached, then the Project Board will escalate
the issue to corporate/programme management.
Where necessary, an Exception Plan will be created in response to an Exception Report, and if
authorized, will replace the original plan, covering the duration of the plan it replaces, from the
point at which the exception was identified.
Developing Plans
The PRINCE2 planning method comprises seven basic steps.

42. Project Scope Of Project Management
INTRODUCTION
The scope of a project is one of the most fundamental aspect of the planning development. In broad
descriptions, it entails the objectives and requirements of the product. This concept is best defined in
a document called Project Scope Statement. Project managers around the world have been
successfully using this technique to provide an overall picture of the project. It is important to
outline its usefulness in the project management business as it is a big factor of project success. The
following essay will highlight the importance of creating a preliminary scope statement and briefly
describe its processes and contents.
TOPIC 1 – What is a Preliminary Scope Statement? What is its importance?
Project Scope Management is the systematic organization of all the tasks to be accomplished in a
certain project and it controls how project scope will be implemented throughout the stakeholders &
project team. The scope statement acts as the core part of Project Scope Management and is one of
the first to be completed in the planning process. According to the PMBOK Guide, a project scope
statement is
"The narrative description of the project scope, including major deliverables, project objectives,
project assumptions, project constraints and statement of work, that provides a documented basis for
making future project decisions and for confirming or developing a common understanding of
project scope among the stake holders" (PMBOK Guide 2004, p. 370)

46. Project Budgeting : Project Budget
Project Budgeting Overview The project is planned within a budget of AUD$147,003 as shown in
appendix one. The project team is expected to complete the project within this budget. However, the
project can be allocated additional budget, but under extreme circumstances. The budget is based on
the estimated costs associated with the defined tasks. The steps followed in coming up with this
budget are based on the estimated resources assigned to each activity, and the estimated length of
each activity. As the initial budget, the estimates are constrained by the funds that the management is
willing to spend on this project. Therefore, the provided estimates could be refined until it is base–
lined at project start–up. The budget will serve as a control mechanism to enable the project
manager and his team members to compare actual costs with the budgeted costs. The project
manager will ensure that the team does not spend beyond the budget, and will seek management
approval before spending more than the budgeted amount. The budget will also be used as an
appraisal parameter in evaluating the performance of the team. To ensure that the team delivers
within the budget, the project manager will closely monitor other constraints including scope and
time. When a particular phase begins to slip past the defined scope and time, budget may be affected
as cost is affected proportionally. When actual costs begin to escalate beyond the estimated amount,

48. Project Analysis : Project Management
Project Scope is defined as the set of activities that must be undertaken to deliver a product,
services, or result with defined features and specifications. Defining the scope and then adhering to
it through the project life cycle is an integral part of the project. Failing to define the scope
appropriately before start or even changing scope as the project proceeds may lead to significant
time and cost implications for the project. As can be seen in the real world, very rarely does a
project follow its project scope through the project lifecycle. Following are some reasons explaining
why projects exceed their scope and how project managers can tackle the problem: 1. Project
Estimation At the time of Project estimation, there lays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new planning estimate is generally higher than the initially estimated project costs as it may be
impossible for firms to fully quantify uncertainties. The planning estimate or "Control" estimate acts
as a baseline as it is strongly emphasized to maintain this estimate throughout the project cycle. It is
critical that Project Managers work towards devising a realistic control estimate because a project
proceeds hardly as planned. Project Managers must create contingency plans for all aspects of the
project to account for any risks. Contingency costs are associated with contingency plans and should
be added to the control estimate for the project. 3. External Changes Scope creep can be caused by
changes that are external to the company, such as new safety legislations, changes in regulatory and
certification, market, or even change in technology being utilized. As these external changes occur,
new project estimates must be planned and since these changes can affect multiple aspects of a
project, the project scope changes. However, these changes may occur at any time during the project
life cycle and it may be possible that the relevant team responsible for estimation are no longer with
the project. Project Managers must ensure to plan for this risk, and must have the necessary data and
expertise available at all times to create the new control estimate. 4. 'Naughty Customers' and 'Silly

No matter what methodology is used for a project, the first step of any project would be to define the
scope. The project scope will help define the work that needs to be done and is needed to establish a
project timeline, set the project goals, and to allocate the funds. (www.clio.com.au) When the
project scope has been defined, the Project Manager will be able to keep the project on time, on
budget, and be able to allocate tasks to the right people, making sure things are efficiently done. The
scope for this project is to transition from making the medium size cruisers to the larger

For instance, because the motorcycle is bigger, it could be heavier and cut back on fuel efficiency.
You may need to take that into consideration as most people will want to buy the most fuel efficient
motorcycle they can get. You would have to take into consideration the actual structure of the
motorcycle as well. The company will want to make sure that not only is the bigger cruiser safe, but
you will want to make sure that the structure is set up so that it gives a comfortable ride. The project
plan is primarily the contract between the Project manager, Executive Sponsors, Project team, and
any other management associated with the company, or may be affected by the project.
(www.projectmanagement.com) The project plan is comprised of the scope, risks, goals, how to
achieve said goals, and anything that may pertain to the project. The first thing I would do would be
to create my scope, or the vision of the project. The vision of the project would include project
scope and the WBS. Because we are talking about manufacturing a larger motorcycle, this will
include all specifications of the motorcycle, including anything involving the structure of the
motorcycle. The second step of my project plan would be to meet with stakeholders and key

Abstract
All the more particularly, what is a project? It 's an interim try embraced to make a novel item,
administration or result. A project is impermanent in that it has a characterized starting and end in
time, and accordingly characterized extension and assets. Also, an undertaking is interesting in that
it is not a standard operation, but rather a particular arrangement of operations intended to fulfill a
solitary objective. So an undertaking group frequently incorporates individuals who don 't as a rule
cooperate – once in a while from distinctive associations and over numerous geologies. The
improvement of programming for an enhanced business prepare, the development of a building or

geographic business sector – all are undertakings. Also, all must be expertly figured out how to
convey the on–time, on–spending plan results, learning and reconciliation that associations need.
Project Management, then, is the use of learning, abilities, apparatuses, and systems to venture
exercises to meet the task necessities.

managers experience complications from project management. The challenges arise from the

Project managers need to exercise their skills at this point to acquire and exert a broad range of
experience. According to Schipper & Silvius (2014), project managers use influence coupled with
very high interactive management technique to monitor the performance of projects. They initiate
the necessary changes in the project's direction and plans. With such changes, managers can
generate trust among the stakeholders involved in the project. According to United States Labor
Relations Council, effective managers need to observe some of the elements when managing
projects. One of the elements includes building relationships before they need them. As a project
manager needs to identify what can be done to the key players before they give their expertise in
handling the project. Proper project management requires managers to evaluate projects in terms of
systems to appreciate how other agendas and activities influence activities both outside and inside
an organization.
Effective project managers need to build trust based on face–to–face interaction with the various
stakeholders involved in running particular projects. Empirical studies based on organizational
performance assert that trust created between a manager and interested parties in the project wither
with time. Project management is prone to consistent and rapid changes including uncertainties,

56. Project Governance : Project Management
Meghana Vuppu IT 463 Fall 2015 HW4
A1) Project Governance provides the project manager and team with structure, process and decision
making models and tools for managing the project and ensuring its success. It includes a framework
for making project decisions, designing roles responsibilities and accountabilities for the success of
the project and determines the effectiveness of the project manager. Good governance can be
demonstrated through the adoption of a disciplined life cycle governance that includes approval
gates at which viability is reviewed and approved; recording and communicating decisions made at
approval gates.
The application of good governance minimises risks arising from change and maximises the
benefits. It also assures the continued development of the profession and disciplines of project,
programme, and portfolio management. Project Governance must define:
Structure: Each organization creates its own PMO. A project management office, abbreviated to
PMO, is a group or department within a business, agency or enterprise that defines and maintains
standards for project management within the organization. The PMO strives to standardize and
introduce economies of repetition in the execution of projects. Also steering committee is created to

When implementing new ideas, plans or systems into any situation things are likely to get
complicated. New proposals can be agreed upon without first checking whether they clash with
other plans. It is the job of a Project manager to control and monitor the process so as things are
completed (Hughes, 2004). Most if not all projects rely on the project triangle; Cost, time and
Scope, to summarise this means monitoring a project at a specified cost, within a specified time to
meet the businesses scope. If one area in the triangle changes there will be an impact to all areas. It
is important that the project manager has the capabilities to monitor these changes and implement
damage control where necessary. This essay discusses how being able to manage people in relation
to time keeping, planning ahead and estimating time productively are all attributes that when

62. Project Management : A Project Manager
It is tempting to discuss the differences between a project manager and a project leader. This is
because a good project manager really is a good project leader. He or she has gone through specific
training to take them from just being a project manager to being an influential and motivational
project leader. There are these additional skills a project manager has to develop to take them from
simply being a project manager to a project leader who inspires people to higher achievements and
accomplishments and not just managers of their work. These are the essence of leadership. To write
about four aspects that differentiate leadership from that of a project manager as he performs his role
I will look at these aspects, (a) approach, (b) risks, (c) values and (d) focus.
Approach
A project manager works with constraints. Once the charter is accepted for a project, the project
manager begins planning the overall project. Project managers must be aware of the limits which
will affect their project through all its phases, beginning with the scope development. Because it is
the project manager's job to ensure projects achieve a modicum of success acceptable to the
stakeholders, he is limited to innovations that resolve issues when they arise or the issues he must
plan for. Even in these instances, the project manager must be mindful of the budget. The project
manager has to strategize to accomplish his job.
A leader does not share the constraints of a project manager. Leadership

did/do they do that makes you call them leaders versus managers?
I consider Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to be the greatest leaders in American business. Over the past
25 years, technology was the industry of choice for many of the top business people. Microsoft 's
Bill Gates and Apple's Steve Jobs both exemplify the explosion in that realm. Gates, Microsoft
chairman and world 's richest man, is the No. 1 business leader of the past quarter–century for his
mix of entrepreneurial energy, dogged leadership and philanthropic interest. The points that make

Many organizations flip–flop regularly between centralized and decentralized support departments
and divisions (e.g., HR, Legal, Accounting, etc.). Be ready to discuss the advantages and
disadvantages of each, and bring one concrete example of an organization, with details, that operates
its support departments and divisions one way or the other.
An organizational structure is the outline of a company's framework and guidelines for managing
business operations. An organization 's structure and its degree of centralization or decentralization
depend on a number of factors, including the size of the organization and its geographic dispersion.
In a very large and diversified organization, it is unlikely that a handful of people will possess all the
resources to achieve all goals and objectives of the enterprise. As a result, it becomes impractical to
concentrate power and decision–making authority at the top. Similarly in a geographically–
dispersed organization, a centralized approach will not be the most efficient, as the people with the
most authority will be unable to directly supervise operations on a day–to–day basis.
Centralized organizational structures rely on one individual to make decisions and provide direction
for the company. Small businesses often use this structure since the owner is responsible for the
company's business operations.

75. Project Analysis : A Project
Project Approach. Envisioning a project is a lot easier than executing it. One can't expect a project to
be smooth sailing without having a solid approach to navigate it without any major turbulence. It is
imperative to identify the scope of project. General assignment of the work can't really tell what lies
beneath it. Once had an objective, it then needs to be broken down into sub parts. It is also very
important to find out the outcome of the project and spell out the goals clearly enough to have better
understanding and meeting of minds. Understanding and delineating the project tasks is of
paramount importance. One needs to understand what it involves to smoothly get the job done.
Identifying players can help understand and then distribute work and tasks. Identify the project
players so that task could be outsourced to the right candidates. It's also imperative to establish
project timeline. The project components shall be segmented to ensure smooth and sequential
process without delaying the project. Implement PODC that stands for Plan, Organize, Direct, and
Control. This approach ensures the timely completion of the project without it being sidetracked
from the main course. The S.W.O.T Analysis. Originated by Albert S Humphrey, Strength,
Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) is a useful technique for understanding the
aforementioned traits of a particular project. It helps sculpt sustainable place and establish a greater

79. A Project On The Project Life Cycle
Discussion Board Forum 3 Sana Gilani Liberty University BUSI 650 April 23, 2016 The Project
Life Cycle Explanation A project is a transitory effort attempted to develop an exceptional
merchandize or service. Since all projects are distinctive in nature and include a specific level of
ambiguity, they are distributed into particular stages that improve and support overall management
and control. According to Hormozi, McMinn, and Nzeogwu (2000), every "projects have a life cycle
and they are born from an idea, develop into a finished product or service, and then terminate"
(p.45). The stages or phases of project life cycles may vary depending on management strategy,
industry, application/ methodology being used for a particular project. However, in general the
project life cycle stages include: (1) Initializing, (2) planning, (3) execution, (4) controlling, and (5)
closing or termination. Meredith and Shafer (2013) explained stretched–S and exponential life cycle
within the text book. In the stretched–S life cycle, the progress is slow in the initial phase but it
takes speed during the implementing phase and during the closing stage, as per Meredith and Shafer
(2013), "the more difficult tasks that were postponed earlier must now be completed, yet people are
being drawn off the project and activity is "winding down," so the end keeps slipping out of reach"
(p. 211). Whereas, in the exponential life cycle, "there is continuous activity on numerous aspects of

81. Project Management Project Manager Project
Project managers cannot, and must not, do everything. They must rely on the project team to
complete the project work. Project managers must find ways to motivate the project team to
complete the work. There is a tendency, in many projects, for the project team to be very excited
about the project at the start and then excitement wanes as the project moves toward completion.
The project manager must coach and mentor to develop the project team to ensure the excitement,
willingness, and dedication to the project work continues. Throughout the project the project
manager will have to address project team retention, labour relations, performance appraisals, and,
depending on the nature of the project work, health and safety issues. As most ... Show more content

Many of the researchers who analyse the general organisational development in modern industry
refer to a need to face the challenges of a higher degree of globalisation, uncertainty and complexity,
and a fast technological advancement. The historical overview by Mary Jo Hatch (1997) of
organisational change and of the literature that deals with this field of research points to these
changes. It also indicates the organisational responses; increased organisational flexibility and
increased employee commitment and responsibility. According to Hatch, this development leads to
the creation of 'postindustrial organisations' where the organisational borders are indistinct, or have
disappeared, and where employees to an increasing degree work in temporary teams where they
represent a certain area of expertise. The development described by Hatch has also been documented
by the sociologist and organisational theorist Wolf Heydebrand (1989). Heydebrand puts projects at
the centre for the analysis of modern firms and societal structures and argues that project–based
structures are a prominent feature of many modern organisational forms. He states that modern
organisations "are staffed by specialists, professionals, and experts who work in an organic,
decentralised structure of project teams, task forces, and relatively autonomous groups" Objectives
