Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Essay
Most people would be able to name at least two famous authors of the twentieth century. One of
those authors that would be named is Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Marjorie Rawlings showed an
interest in writing at very young age. The first jobs she had as a young adult was as a columnist.
There were many obstacles that she went through and personal sacrifices that were made to get her
own name out in the writingworld. Marjorie Rawlings s had to learn to overcome the gender and
social formalities of the twentieth century. However, Rawlings s was not someone who followed
the rules from the beginning. Rawlings s pushed the idea that women could do more than what
others think they should be doing. Also, she did anything and everything to get the best... Show

When she and Charles moved away from the city to the small community of Cross Creek, she
delved right into writing. By 1930, Rawlings was noticed by the editor, Maxwell Perkins, and had
her first successful short story, Cracker Childlings , published in the Scribner Magazine (Lillios
2 par.5). As Rawlings grew more invested in her writings, she became distant from Charles.
Rawlings was always writing or out in the scrubs researching. The new life she had in Cross
Creek was enjoyable. Even being away from her husband did not phase her. So, Charles was
spending more and more time away in South Florida doing his own research for his writings
(Bigelow). Soon enough, Charles became unhappy with his life in Cross Creek. In the article,
Finding A Home: Rawlings s Cross Creek , by Susan Schmidt, she explains that a reason for his
unhappiness was that he ...showed increasing jealousy of his wife s initial publication (Schmidt
50 par.7). Charles was having a harder time getting his own writings published. Yet, Rawlings
already had an editor and was working on her first book. In the literary article, A Letter and a
Dream , it also mentions how she recognized her husband s jealousy and that she knew he
resented her literary success in light of his own failures (Lear 35). Into her last two years of marriage
with Charles, they were already living two separate lives and she soon divorced him. Rawlings s
never was or became dependent on a man for stability or his

Public Health Of Public Healthcare
Public Health
Public health is an important subject in the curriculum of medical, nursing, and allied health
science schools. It is a separate course in the curriculum of some of the chiropractic colleges. The
instruction hours of public health course are different among the chiropractic colleges. The Public
Health instruction contact hour is 36 to 48 hours and 2 3 credit hours course in all other Chiropractic
Colleges except at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida (12 hours only). Public health is a vital
course in any health professional school. Every year, new diseases and new preventive strategies
are added in our knowledge bases. There are gross disparities in the credit hours, contact hours, and
total hours of instruction among the Chiropractic Colleges. The opinion of leading Chiropractor
Instructors regarding the importance of Public Health in the Chiropractic Curriculum is also
dissimilar. Although vaccination is a highly effective method to control infectious disease, most of
the chiropractic student is not well informed of this matter. Many chiropractic students and
practicing chiropractors oppose the idea of mass vaccination. The chiropractic philosophy put
emphasis in the spinal nerve compression by misplaced vertebrae instead of microbial etiology of
diseases. Many chiropractic student think vaccination is harmful and causes autism and Guillain
Barre syndrome. Many other s oppose to add fluoride in the drinking water and think fluoride
damages the brain..

Marijuana Psychoactive Drugs
As humans, it is natural for curiosity to rome amongst our minds. We are intrigued by various
substances and objects, in which we have a great desire to experience and gain more knowledge
about. Unfortunately, some of these desires supercede us when experienced, leading to great
consequence. Although marijuana is slowly becoming legal in multiple states across the country, it
is still considered a psychoactive drug. Thus, it is deemed unsafe to drive while under the influence
of this substance. Driving under the influence of marijuana can lead to impaired motor skills,
dilated pupils, and slowed reaction time (Volkow, 2014). When an individual ingests or smokes
marijuana, their motor skills are intensely affected. Anandamide is a chemical... Show more content

The most efficient way to do so is to simply not smoke a psycho altering substance. However,
many users do so for medicinal treatment, which can aid in pain management and control of
some conditions. Thus, a DUI prevention plan can stop the consequences previously discussed
from occurring. The best option is to let the effects subside before going anywhere. This can
take up to 3 to 4 hours depending on the amount smoked or ingested. If an individual is under the
influence and must travel, try to find an alternative person that can drive. This can be a friend,
loved one, or even a service such as Uber or Lyft. Companies as such are affordable, safe, and
have experience transporting people who have been intoxicated or unable to drive. The individual
should also notify a close friend of the location they are traveling to so they can confirm that they
arrived safe and sound. By taking these measures when driving while under the influence, the safety

Number of circuits and approaches are used for aeronautical billing and statistical purposes.
A major point to bear in mind with the way is that the airlines/handling agents are also being
updated on estimates of arrival and departure. Therefore it has to be agreed by all the party s
concerned on who will be responsible for the updating the information.
Airlines and handling agents know of new flight information and if both parties have the ability to
create new flights then a minute difference in time can create two flights instead of the one.
ATC information can be used to create mandatory statistics required by some Government agencies
such as the National Air traffic Service (NATS) who use the information for planning purposes and
in some case for airspace usage.

Theu.s. Constitution Vs. The Constitution
The U.S Constitution was written by James Madison and was ratified on July 21, 1788. Ever since
people had trouble determining how it should be interpreted. When judges interpret the constitution,
they are interpreting new facts to an established law that has been given meaning and has a
historical background. Many people argue that it should be read how it was written who are known
as Originalists. Then there are people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and
they are known as Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine
whether the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give
meaning on the basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the Constitution should
be read, whether it be from the Originalists or the Living Constitutionalist s point of view, and why
Living Constitutionalism is better. As society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems
that occur, and they cannot be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes
Living Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a document not
just for their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living Constitutionalists might say this is a very
bold statement. This quote basically means that the Framers were trying to create a document that
would address future and present problems. A common question that is asked is what did the
Framers mean and want for the

A Project, Organisation Or Park
This week I would like for you to find and review a project, organisation or park related to
protecting biodiversity. Preferably one that is near where you live. This could be a local group or
non profit organisation that works to protect biodiversity. It could be a park, natural reserve, or
conservation area. Or, it could be something else that is related.
Study the information you have found, then answer the following questions:
1. What did you choose to cover? Please list the main link to the park/reserve/organisation.
Breakfast Creek is a major tributary of the Brisbane river and is about a 10 minute walk from my
house and although this part of the river is located in an inner city suburb it is teaming with life.
Living on the bank and in the water are many species of native flora and fauna but of particular
note are thousands of flying foxes roosting in the trees during the day and silently flying out at
dusk. However, the entire river system and catchment areas are under threat from introduced
species of plants and animals as well as pollution. Given the topic of this weeks discussion I
wanted to find out if there were any organisations or groups working towards protecting the
biodiversity in my immediate area. One such group is known as Save Our Water Ways Now or

Comparing Nectar In A Sieve And Greek Mythology
The Indian culture of Nectar in a Sieve and the Greek culture Mythology are without doubt very
different. However, despite those differences, both cultures share some similarities. The link
between the Indian culture in Nectar in a Sieve and Greek culture is the fact that both cultures are
polytheistic, meaning that they worship more than one god. For instance, in Nectar in a Sieve, a
massive storm came upon the village where Ruku (main character) and her family lived, which
caused the destruction of their home and more importantly the crops, which provided them with
food in order to survive. Since Ruku and her family, amongst the other villagers, saw that the
situation was not going to improve any time soon they began to pray to their gods.

The Continued Increase in the Global Poplulation
The global population is increasing exponentially. Enormous quantities of children are born each
day and a small percentage is born into an adequate household. This drastically affects the global
economy, society and the environment. As Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, said
more children from the fit, less from the unfit (Sanger). Population control needs to be implemented
through the enforcement of sexual education and greater access to contraceptives in order to
decrease the number of births each year.
First of all, if teenagers were educated about and had access to contraceptive methods, they would
be more willing to put the methods into use. Few sexually active teenagers are responsible with
birth control and the majority of teen pregnancies are due to a lack of contraception used before or
during intercourse. Though United States does not face the same population pressures as
developing regions, accidental pregnancies are common as [they] account for roughly half of all
annual births in the United States. (Navarro). There is a myriad of contraceptives available that
would benefit teenagers, most commonly external protection devices and oral medications.
StayTeen.org states that nearly 3 in 10 teen girls in the US will get pregnant at least once before
age 20, more than 700,000 teen pregnancies each year (The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and
Unplanned Pregnancy). These pregnancies are due to lack of education about contraceptive methods

The Fast Runner, Atanarjuat
The Fast Runner film serves as a way to share the story of an Inuit legend, an evil spirit that has
been passed down through generations for centuries. The intent of this film was to show viewers
the balance of good and evil in the Inuit culture and the struggles of the people that follow. The Fast
Runner, Atanarjuat, is fighting with the evil spirit and this filmshows his encounters with the
legendary spirit. The creation of this film can also be used as a way to enlighten people about the
lives and culture of Native Americans in the Arctic. While watching this film I found the storyline

In the film, Atanarjuat and Amaqjuaq went hunting for their household alone. When there was
community gatherings multiple men would bring different food for everyone to share. Throughout
the film, Atanarjuat and Amaqjuaq discuss the shortages of caribou in the area while the supply of
seal and fish seemed steady. The textbook mentions food shortages and deaths by starvation but the
film doesn t portray the food that way. Although they talk about not having certain animals to hunt
in the area, they never discuss being excessively hungry or not having any food to eat. In the film,
the people would eat their meat raw and then burn the fat of the animals for heat. The way they ate
their food in the film seems accurate in relation with the textbook and other references. Although
the film seems accurate in regards to the economics of the Inuit people, the film doesn t necessarily
show how they hunted the animals that they ate. The people in the film would ride off in their

Some times Cummigs will forgot to place spaces between words on purposes. This uses is seen

creates a fast paced verse that pushes the poem along. This fast paced attitude in this poem show
just how quick Buffalo Bill s life and other people s lives can be. An example of a conventional
with Cumming s distinctive mark barely noticeable would be Anyone lived in a pretty how town .

Authoritarian
What are the characteristics of authoritarian government?
Answer:
this is a form of government that doesn t consider it s people s opinions and thoughts. they use
force often and do not hold elections. there is usually one person or a smal group in charge of the
government.
Authoritarianism
Most simply, authoritarianism denotes the absence of free elections and the presence of
unconstrained power. In this form of non democratic government, the power and authority wielded
by the leader(s) is not contingent upon popular support from the citizenry. Authoritarian leadership
may be single or group headed. When a single person heads the government, it is known as an
autocracy. When an elite group of individuals head the government, it ... Show more content on

Consequently, authoritarian regimes, out of necessity, must tightly control the army and the police
which are the primary means by which political opponents can be harassed, exiled, or even
executed.
Although there is no elaborate or guiding ideology of authoritarianism, there are defining
commonalties. Authoritarian regimes do not attempt to control every aspect of society and their
main goal is simply the preservation of their own political power. Nonetheless, authoritarian states
all tend to possess the following features, although they may vary greatly in the: 1) degree of
oppression they impose upon the citizens. 2) amount of force, repression, and violence they use to
achieve their goals. 3) degree of enforced public conformity through such means as suppression of
intellectual freedom. 4) degree of public support that they enjoy.
Authoritarian regimes express principles which are fundamentally at odds with democracy such
as rule by a select few, suppression of the opposition, and so on. However, this does not
necessarily mean that they are seen as lacking legitimacy in the countries in which they govern.
They may be legitimized and also gain popularity from a variety of means. For example, they may
secure both legitimacy and popularity by bringing much needed stability and/or economic growth
to the state. The presence of a charismatic leader can also be an

Jaws is based on book written by Peter Benchley which is loosely based around the shark attacks
of 1916 along the US eastern coast. Peter Benchley co wrote the screenplay with Carl Gottlieb. Jaws
is tagged as an action and adventure, mystery and suspense, thriller and is intended for older
audiences (PG 13). Jaws main characters are: Broody (Police Chief) played by actor Roy Scheider,
Quint (Fisherman) played by actor Robert Shaw, Hooper (Scientist) played by Richard Dreyfuss.

After finding evidence of a shark attack Chief Brody intends to close the beaches, however
Mayor Vaughn and several other key islanders are flat against the beach closing, mainly for
economic reasons. Chief Brody initially backs down about the beach closings, however once
the shark attacks came again to the shores of Amity, the beaches were closed. It was an island
consensus to hire a shark killer (Quint) to solve the problem, regardless of the hefty fee he
charged. It turned out not to be so simple a problem especially for Quint. Once the size of the
shark was estimated it created another issue for Amity with the very limited equipment and
expertise they had available on the small, isolated island, they had to reach out for expert help
(Matt Hooper, Oceanographer). As Jaws continued to attack Amity s beaches it was finally seen
for its actual size, that is when Chief Brody made the statement of you re gonna need a bigger
boat , which was not written in the original screenplay and has become known as the most
memorable line in the movie. Jaws is suspense filled and the music score for the shark attack was
developed perfectly to create further suspense, while the music played one watched, glued to the
screen waiting to see what was going to happen next. I would not recommend this movie to young
children because of the blood, guts and gore

Roberto Clemente Research Paper
The sound of the swish of a basketball, the crack of bat, and the kick of goal, are of many sports
played in America, today. Athletes across America have made an impact in sports, but Hispanic
athletes have made achievements beyond the imagination of an American athlete. Athletes like
Roberto Clemente, Hall of Fame baseball player from Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto, champion
boxer, and Juan Pablo Montoya, NASCAR driver are athletes that have gone above and beyond
their dreams and turned it into a reality. The Hispanic athletes of yesterday, and the ones of today
have made achievements and have won awards that have made an impact on people s lives
today. Roberto Walker Clemente, a man from a small island with the heart of a champion, became
a phenomenal baseball player during his time. Roberto Clemente was born in Carolina, Puerto

The Evolution of David
The greatest transformation in style that occurred between the Renaissance and the Baroque Era
can be found in the evolution of David. The most famous David sculptures come from the well
known and talented artists of Michelangelo and Bernini. There have been many David sculptures
created throughout time, by such artist as Donatello and Verrocchio, but these works have eclipsed
most other works to become sensations that will live forever.
Michelangelo s sculpture of David was created in 1504 during the Renaissance Era. It was
commissioned for the Florence Cathedral but eventually replaced Donatello s David in front of
Piazza Della Signoria. Michelangelo s David is over 17 feet tall without the pedestal and depicts a
flawless, imposing figure standing in a contrapposto position making him look more naturalistic.
Unlike Bernini s sculpture of David, Michelangelo portrays David before his fight with Goliath.
Michelangelo has been said to have sculpted by first conceptualizing the mass of the work and
then carefully extracting all of the marble that was not part of the image. Indeed, in the David it
appears that he worked from front to back instead of from all four sides of the marble block,
allowing the figure, as it were, to step out of the stone. (Fichner Rathus, 377)
Bernini s David created in 1693 during the Baroque Era, was made for the nephew of Pope Paul V
and now resides in the Galleria Borghese in Rome, Italy. Bernini illustrated this David during

A Study of Outsiders Integrating Into a Puritan Community...
Popular mythology conjures up images of Puritan New England as a pious, homogenous, agrarian
community, a Citty upon a Hill intended to inspire the English homeland to turn to Puritan ways.(1)
However, Puritan New England was more than a collection of small, agrarian communities. The
harbors of New England supported shipping and fishing industries, and abundant timberand ore
supplies inspired the Puritans of North America to pursue a colonial version of the English iron
industry. These new American Ironworks required skilled labor; it was not possible simply to take
the offspring of Puritan farmers and merchants and turn them into iron workers. The experienced,

The Puritans of New England were not renowned for their willingness to accept outsiders into their
communities. According to The book of the general lauus and libertyes concerning the inhabitants
of the Massachusets, individuals, and whole towns, were statutorily prohibited from allowing any
stranger to reside within the jurisdiction for more than three weeks without permission from a
magistrate.(3) As an illustration, in May 1663 John Emery was charged with harboring Quakers,

was singularly unsuccessful in controlling his carnal lust. A more detailed recitation of his exploits
is unnecessary here, but as a stranger to the community, Greenland s behavior made him
undesirable to that community, and the community had an interest in, and took action toward,
securing his removal. In fact, six citizens even went so far as to file an additional suit against
Emery, [f]or breach of a town order of Newbery, in entertaining Mr. Greenland to the great

Social Issues Related to Smoking and Alcohol Consumption...
Alcohol consumption is linked to many harmful consequences for the individual drinker, the
drinker s immediate environment and society as a whole. There are many social consequences such
as traffic accidents, workplace related problems, family and domestic problems, and interpersonal
violence.
Work
People with alcohol dependence and drinking problems are on sick leave more frequently than
other employees. In Great Britain, up to 25% of workplace accidents and around 60% of fatal

Also arguments over someone s drinking can cause family and relationship problems that may lead
to break up. To address this families may consider going to councilling to stop the alcohol abuse
and also work out any issues that have been the outcome of the constant alcohol abuse from a
family member.
Link between alcohol and poverty?
Apart from money spent on drinks, heavy drinkers may suffer other economic problems such as
lower wages (because of missed work and decreased efficiency on the job) and lost employment
opportunities, increased medical and legal expenses, and decreased eligibility for loans. To
address this issue the government should invest in centers to inform people of the horrible
outcomes of alcohol abuse and also help the people who have been affected to get back on their feet.
Alcohol abuse could be costing the UK up to ВЈ6 billion a year in NHS bills, premature death,
losses to business and drink related crimes and accidents, it was claimed today.
A study by the Royal College of Physicians said drink related health problems could account for up
to 12% of total NHS spending on hospitals, about ВЈ3 billion.
But campaigners said that with the estimated ВЈ3 billion lost through absenteeism, unemployment,
premature deaths and alcohol related crimes and accidents the total cost of excessive drinking is
ВЈ6 billion.

The Sniper s Journey In War
The snipers Journey in war was necessary to discovering that war pushes people to enforce
brutality and violence on themselves and those they fight against, having no opportunity to shine
compassion on one another. War kills innocent lives and tears apart families leaving only the
feeling of hate, anger, and grief. In war, soldiers are not meant to find peace or negotiation. The
author portrayed the sniper as someone wired to kill and destruct. On the field, there was only one
target his enemy. In the short story the other sniper was distinguished clearly as his enemy, which
emphasized that he put his job first before humanity, not even pondering as to who his opponent
was, he had only wanted to kill. He only then realized after killing he

Food Security Is A Basic Human Right, Essential For Life
Food security is considered as a basic human right, essential for life. It exists when all people, at all
times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary
needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO),
1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of
running
out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food
options;
anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003).
Although the United States population is considered food secure as a whole, with 85.7% being food
secure (Coleman Jensen, Gregory Singh, 2014), pockets of food insecurity have been identified
among
sub populations such as single parent households (34.4%), people at social or geographical
disadvantage (26%), the homeless and the young (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003; Innes Hughes,
Bowers, King, Chapman, Eden, 2010).
According to National Center for Education Statistics (2013), enrollment of students 18 24 years in
degree granting institutions increased from 15.9 million in 2001 to 21 million in 2011. Many

No abortions would be permitted for any reason, including rape, incest or the health of the woman.
(Anti Choice Statements Pro choice Responses)
Another argument is abortion is murder and the fetus can feel pain. Pro life argues that killing an
innocent human being no matter if it is unborn, it is still murder. They also argue that by eight
weeks of gestation the spinal cord is developed. The spinal cord is most primitive response to pain
which is explained by Maureen Condic, PhD. Evidence found by Dr. Bernard N. Nathanson stating
We see [in an ultrasound image] the child s mouth open in a silent scream... This is the silent
scream of a child threatened imminently with extinction. (Grimes, 2011)
Pro choice counters this with stating abortion that it should be a fundamental right and fetuses are
incapable of feeling pain when abortion is performed. It is argued any moment or reactions seen
in fetuses when they detect pain are more of a reflex not actual proof that the fetus feels anything.
(McDonough, 2013) Even though the spinal cortex is needed to feel pain, neuroscientists believe
that it does become functional until at least 26 weeks if development. At this stage in the child s
development it is rare abortion happens. The choice should still be left in the mother s hand, for it

Jabberwocky
Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll
The jabberwocky is a poem written by Lewis Carroll in 1875, it uses a unique style of written
English illustrated by the names of the beasts. The writer used this kind of language because
unlike today, English continues to wither as expression like that in the poem become more
scarcely. The theme of the poem is good versus evil. The jabberwocky s theme comes out when our
brave little warrior meets with this mythical creature. In essence, the jabberwocky represents a
bigger evil because it does not exist. In connection to our day, the biggest evil man faces are he.

The meter in the poem is most captivating. It flows in a One, two! One, two! And through and

The Legality Of Planned Parenthood
Abortion is a controversial topic in the United States, causing a split debate on the morality of
allowing women to continue aborting babies up until 22 weeks of gestation and the argument that
abortion should not be allowed on any circumstances excluding rape, incest or the health of the
mother. These situations are complex and many women have strong opinions and they use the
terms Prolife or Prochoice to explain their position on the matter. Planned Parenthood is the primary
location where women can carry out the termination of their pregnancy. Abortionis always a
political issue during election time so the legality of Planned Parenthood is constantly being
inspected.
Margaret Sanger started the birth control movement in the early 1910 s and advocated for the
right of contraception during sex. After her founding of Parenthood in 1916, It led to major
modifications in the laws governing birth control and sex education in the United States. Planned
Parenthood originally went by the name Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau but later formed
with the American Birth Control League (ABCL) which eventually evolved itself to become a
center advocating for women s health with a primary focus on providing abortions for women (
History of Planned Parenthood ). Previously, this right was illegal for women, so they were forced
to bear children for their husband, whom had a strong control over the woman. Sanger became
passionate on this subject because she herself was a part of an

Canine Heartworm Disease Essay
Canine Heartworm Disease
Canine Heartworm Disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease caused by the parasite
Dirofilaria Immitis. The disease can infect over 30 species, including humans, however dogs are the
definitive host.
The most common way this disease is transmitted from one animal to the next is through mosquitoes
. A mosquito carrying infective heartworm larvae bites a dog and transmits the infection to them.
The larvae grow, develop, and migrate in the body over a period of 6 to 7 months, in which time
they become sexually mature male and female worms. this is the prepatent period. The worms then
reside in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels. The worms begin to mate and release
microfilaria into the blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some dogs only have an acute case; this is when no abnormal clinical signs are observed. The
next level of the disease would be just a mild one were a cough is present. Dogs with a cough,
exercise intolerance, and abnormal lung sounds would have a moderate form. The last and most
severe form is when the dog is experiencing the previously mentioned clinical signs and/or, dyspnea,
hepatomegaly (liver enlargement), syncope, ascites (fluid in abdomen), abnormal heart sounds and
possibly death.
Diagnosing the disease can be relatively simple, but this depends on accurate patient history and
ones ability to recognize varied clinical signs and then perform diagnostic procedures. These
diagnostic procedures may include antigen testing, x rays, ultrasonography, angiography, a complete
blood count, the Knott s or Filter test, and in the worst case necropsy.
Of these, antigen testing is the preferred method for both heartworm diagnosis and screening.
However the test can only detect circulating microfilaria so if the animal was infected in the last 6
to 7 months the results would be negative. On the other hand if the animal was treated for
heartworms in the past 16 weeks the results of an antigen test would be positive. For these reasons
the diagnosis of Canine Heartworm should not be left entirely to the results of one time antigen
testing.
The treatment for Canine Heartworm Disease is usually successful, with the goal being to kill all
adult worms and

Body Based Anesthetic Procedures
Introduction Among the abundant concerns prior to surgery that medical staff and patients share is
the fear of losing control. A patient must surrender her physical comfort in anticipation of painful
needles used during surgery and the medical team must be vigilant to obey correct instrumental
spatial orientations when applying force lest damage result from muscle jerking. A valuable
component of many surgeries is included to ease the minds of both medical staff and patients:
anesthetics. By suppressing pain and consciousness of the patient and serving as a muscle relaxant

respiratory depression, halothane remains of the shelves for medical teams because it provides

The Five Army Branches
Throughout history, any established government has always maintained a militant force to defend
their land and if need be, attack other regions or nations. However before the United States was
founded on 4 Jul 1776, there was a militant force. That militant force was officially considered the
United States Army and was established in 14 Jun 1775. As time progressed from the founding of
the nation to current day, the militaryhas progressed as well. Specifically, there are five branches
that comprise the military: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and the Navy. There are
different requirements to join each respected branch and different standards of living that come
with joining the respected branch. When beginning the journey to enlist in the military a
prerequisite is taking the ASVAB; this is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.
Every member attempting to enlist must take this test, however there are minimum score

Transcendentalist Utopia in Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry...
Of the scores of utopian concepts within the 1800 s, most remarkable of the influx was the birth of
Transcendentalism. The roots of their religious philosophy extend much farther back into American
history, but in essence, rests in the context of Unitarianism. It s origins also reach overseas to
Romanticism, from which they drew inspiration from. Transcendentalismwas an important
movement that shaped the course of American literature, it s assertions commonly taking shape in
novels, poems, short stories, and essays, the most famous of authors including Ralph Waldo
Emersonand Henry David Thoreau. Transcendentalists sought for their sentiments to be present in
the United States, to redefine man in response to the changing context of America. Since it s
emergence in the 1820 s, Transcendentalism had lasting religious, social, and political implications
on the order of society. Unitarianism had developed as a branch of the liberal wing of Christianity,
which had separated from the Orthodox Christianity during the First Great Awakening. Unitarians
value the hallmarks of Christian Enlightenment , and it s philosophy stressed the importance of
voluntary ethical conduct (Emergence of Transcendentalism). Yet, the Transcendentalists felt
something was absent in Unitarianism; the sobriety, mildness, and calm rationalism, failed to
satisfy the Transcendentalists whom yearned for a more intense spiritual experience (Emergence of
Transcendentalism). For Transcendentalists,

Articles Of Confederation Flaws
The Articles of Confederation were a failure due to how weak they were. The United States had
just fought their way out of tyranny, and because of that they gave all the power to the states, as
to ensure no abuses of power, which ultimately didn t give the government means to rule
efficiently. For example, Congress could not tax, so inflation was caused by their overprinting.
There was no national army, so when tensions arose, congress had to beg for troops, making the
U.S. weak and vulnerable. Also, congress did not have the power to control commerce, so states
made their own monet, which could not be used state to state. Furthermore, there was no head
figure to enforce any of the rules of the Articles, which only hastened the falling apart of the
articles because there was no one person to enforce laws. Shay s rebellion was the final straw that
led to the Constitutional Convention. In the construction of the constitution they were very careful
not to repeat their mistakes. For example, they gave congress power to tax, draft, control money, as
well as the the other issues where congress lacked necessary power. The... Show more content on

Virginia plan placed a lot of power in the legislative branch, and had a system very similar to the

or their contribution to the federation. They would be voted on by the people, for the House of
Reps, and the Senate would then be chosen by government officials. This was a very scary plan

equal playing field for all states. There is a one house legislature system, with equal representation

Today A simple example would be you are walking on the street and you see someone steal a

When Shaw showed him respect he would not accept it and would always react with violence.
This changed though when Sargent Major John Rawlins confronted him for his behavior and
told him what was actually going on and why they were here. To me this is a pivotal moment in
the movie because you see with the help of the brilliant actor Denzel, Trips eyes widen as if he
can see for the first time in a long time, the reason for the war and the fighting was for him and his
brothers and sisters. Sargent Major Rawlins tells him that the white men are dying by the thousands

The World s Biggest Terrorist Group
In two years Isis has been the cause for over 170,000 people s death, making it today the world s
biggest terrorist group. Isis was first created in Iraq and is now slowly growing too many other
countries in the world. This group is now one the biggest problems that the world faces today. Isis
stands for Islamic state in Iraqand Syria. Members of Isis were first a part of al Qaeda, then in 2013
became its own group. This paper will answer: How was Isis formed, and why is it the way it is
today? Under its former name Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis), it was formed in April
2013, growing out of al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI). The organization is led by Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.
Little is known about him, but it is believed he was born in Samarra, north of Baghdad, in 1971
and joined the insurgency that erupted in Iraq soon after the 2003 US led invasion. In 2010 he
emerged as the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, one of the groups that later became Isis. Baghdadi is
regarded as a battlefield commander and tactician, which analysts say makes his group more
attractive to young jihadists than al Qaeda, which is led by Ayman al Zawahiri, an Islamic
theologian. IS claims to have fighters from the UK, France, Germany and other European
countries, as well as the US, the Arab world and the Caucasus (The Islamic State militant group).

Automation And The Assembly Line Essay
Automation has taken many forms in the past century with new technologies being introduced and
great innovations being made. Automation was first established in 1913 with the assembly line:
The introduction of the assembly line at Ford Motor Company in 1913 is often cited as one of the
first forms of automation (Dias, 2014). While this type of automation is very different from what
we experience today, it is a great example of just how time saving it can be to add automation to a
production process. The introduction of the assembly lineresulted in Ford cutting the time it takes
to produce a car from 12 hours down to only 1.5 hours. Automation has come a long way since
then and takes a very different form today. Automation now refers to machinery that has sensing
and control devices that enable it to operate automatically (Stevenson, 2015, p. 245). It takes many
forms and often surrounds us in our everyday lives in things that we have come to take for granted,
such as ATMs, automatic faucets, and Redbox dvd rental machines. Just as it did with the Ford
Motor Companyover a century ago, the use of automation has helped companies make great strides
in increasing efficiency and reducing the time that is needed to produce goods. There are many
advantages to using automation over human labor. Automation removes the mistakes in production
caused by human error, and therefore eliminates the waste and costs associated with these mistakes.
One huge advantage automation offers

Thomas Hobbes And The Leviathan And Nicomachean Ethics
Thomas Hobbes and Aristotle address the role that governments have in the promotion of good
virtue amongst their citizens in The Leviathan and Nicomachean Ethics. The authors offer ideas
along similar lines. This is in regards to the belief that Hobbes and Aristotle hold, which is that
governments do have a role in promoting good morals and leading a virtuous life; Hobbes by
sovereignty and Aristotle through means of reaching telos. Thomas Hobbesposition is made in The
Leviathan, in which he argues that citizens are less troubled when they agree to a
commonwealth, or a unity of them all because they are unified in that they constitute one single
person (Hobbes 79). When men agree to be governed by a sovereign, he is then responsible for
encouraging them to lead virtuous lives by practicing good morals. They could not be led astray
because the sovereign is such a supreme example, this is why they are given the freedom of choice.
He would also argue against neutrality on behalf of the government, because he does not believe
that human nature always serves as the best guide for humans. Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethicsis
similar to Hobbes work, in that he also agrees that government should promote good morals.
However, it differs as Aristotle thinks that the main responsibility of a government is to see to it
that their citizens are capable of reaching their telos. Telos is something that can only be
accomplished by a virtuous and free being, it is essentially a state of

However, according to the research that my team and I have conducted, this advantage is very

MagaГ±a s Presidency took an active and purposeful role in opposing the FMLN guerrillas
through attacks on the group s primarily peasant base and support network. From 1981 to 1983,
it is estimated that at least 18,000 civilians were killed by government forces. Many of these
deaths were the result of air force bombings of peasants trying to flee across the Honduras border
or massacres committed by government infantry groups against FMLN friendly villages such as

The second phase of the conflict, following the election of Duarte and the PDC in the 1984 5

My Hybrid Classroom Management Plan
My hybrid classroom management plan that combines the Canter and Canter Assertive discipline
style and Dreikur s Democratic Teaching and Management procedures allows me to incorporate
the students opinions and ideas into the classroom rules and procedures. This allows for a sense
of community and shared responsibility between both myself and the students to insure that the
rules are being met. By allowing the student to have a say in how the classroom will run day to
day makes them feel like they have a place and a value in the classroom. It is also important that I
foster a sense of fairness by upholding the agreed upon rules without any bias so that the student
know what to expect when rules and procedures are either followed or not. This helps the students
feel supported in the classroom as well as nurtures a safe and inclusive learningenvironment.

If one has poor self concept and sees oneself as unworthy then they will present themselves this
way, which will result in a negative response from people. If one feels good about oneself, they

The perceptions, beliefs and attitudes that steam from self concept, will affect one s social
surroundings. One will either come out of a situation with a positive or negative concept of
these surroundings. Poor communication can cause one to have a poor perception of oneself.
One s emotional state, dislikes, likes values and body image are affected by the opinions of
others and can render one to have an inferior and insecure self concept. How one communicates is
also influenced by gender. Studies show that ones sex can place a person in a gender role
expectation. Women and Men communicate differently and because sexual identity is defined
through same sex parent or role model, women and men can get into gender role expectations.
These expectations influence their perception attitudes and behavior that will result in a

Why Is Reincarnation Real
In urbandictionary.com, reincarnation is The theory that something of a person survives their
physical death and is born again in a new body on this earth, often as part of a continual process.,
meaning that once you die you can be reborn, in an endless cycle. I believe that reincarnation is
real because ancient egyptian believed in it, children have claimed to remember their past live,

My first reason for believing that reincarnation is real is because ancient egyptians believed that

Natoma Baby. The parents were skeptical about what their son told them at first, but after
searching what James told them they found that what he said was true. There was a man who
died in an airplane in WWII from an attack from the japanese, James could also remember some
of the soldiers names that he claimed were his friends which were real names of soldiers who
fought in WWII.
My third reason is when people have transferred birthmarks. In the article 10 Claims of Physical

relatives will mark his or her body often using soot with the hope that the soul of the deceased will

Essay about The Religious Undertones in James Joyce s Araby
James Joyce uses religious references throughout Araby to express his resentment towards the
Catholic Church, and Catholicism as a whole. The story revolves around religious symbolism and
a boy s intnse desire for a girl.
Joyce s reasons for rejecting the Catholic Church are unknown, but in many scenes his attitude
towards religious hypocrisy becomes clearer. The introduction to Araby sets the religious tones,
which flow through a neighborhood, dark and full of desire. The story opens on a quiet street,
except at the hour when the Christian Brothers School set the boys free .
The example given is a reflection of long days oppressed by the church, which only come to and
end when the boys are set free. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The girl is seen as something holy here by being placed in the light. Joyce s character shows his
infatuation with the girl when he watches her door from the window every morning. Joyce shows
the religious confusion between the girl and the Church when, he writes, having seen
nothing but the brown clad figure cast by my imagination, touched discretely by the lamp light... .
The figure described here is a man of the cloth, a friar, who is touched by the light. Again this is
Joyce s religious undertone. Joyce s character labors to attend Araby. We read of his difficulties
with his
Uncle and Aunt, one forgetting completely of the boy s request to attend Araby and the other
concerned of it s being some Freemason affair . The
Freemasons are an organized society that does not associate itself with the
Catholic Church. Joyce casts the Freemasons in a dim light by having the
Aunt question the purpose of the event. The ride to Araby on the special train symbolizes Joyce
s feelings of misery and despair and reflects his view of himself in his native country. Araby is
described as a big hall with the greater part of the hall in darkness. The silence the narrator
recognizes is like that which pervades a church after service . Joyce symbolizes the uselessness of
the Church with the word darkness. In the final

The Medieval way of thinking, which gave kings absolute power and authority gave way to the
Renaissance thinkers. These men not only brought their questions to the sciences and the arts, but
also began questioning the corrupt practices of the church. The corrupt leaders of the Catholic
church required their parishioners not only to tithe their money, but also to pay for the priests
services, to buy indulgences when they sinned, and to pay for other services the church provided.
The corrupt leaders in the church also engaged in immoral practices setting a poor example for the

Although, research does not find a positive correlation with advanced degrees and student
achievement, a statistically significant relationship was found between specific training and student
achievement (Goldhaber Brewer, 1996). It has also been documented that more educationally
experienced teachers appear more effective in teaching elementary math and reading (Harris Stass,
2007). Among variables assessing teacher quality, the percentage of teachers with full certification
and a major in the field is a more powerful predictor of student achievement than teachers education
levels (Darling Hammond, 2000, Marsalak, Odom, LaNasa, Adler, 2010). This information would

correlate with their students reading achievement (Darling Hammond, 2000). It is additionally
noted that one of the most difficult and important questions in education is the relationship between
what teachers have learned and student achievement (Darling Hammond, 2006). The new version

  • 2. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Essay Most people would be able to name at least two famous authors of the twentieth century. One of those authors that would be named is Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Marjorie Rawlings showed an interest in writing at very young age. The first jobs she had as a young adult was as a columnist. There were many obstacles that she went through and personal sacrifices that were made to get her own name out in the writingworld. Marjorie Rawlings s had to learn to overcome the gender and social formalities of the twentieth century. However, Rawlings s was not someone who followed the rules from the beginning. Rawlings s pushed the idea that women could do more than what others think they should be doing. Also, she did anything and everything to get the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When she and Charles moved away from the city to the small community of Cross Creek, she delved right into writing. By 1930, Rawlings was noticed by the editor, Maxwell Perkins, and had her first successful short story, Cracker Childlings , published in the Scribner Magazine (Lillios 2 par.5). As Rawlings grew more invested in her writings, she became distant from Charles. Rawlings was always writing or out in the scrubs researching. The new life she had in Cross Creek was enjoyable. Even being away from her husband did not phase her. So, Charles was spending more and more time away in South Florida doing his own research for his writings (Bigelow). Soon enough, Charles became unhappy with his life in Cross Creek. In the article, Finding A Home: Rawlings s Cross Creek , by Susan Schmidt, she explains that a reason for his unhappiness was that he ...showed increasing jealousy of his wife s initial publication (Schmidt 50 par.7). Charles was having a harder time getting his own writings published. Yet, Rawlings already had an editor and was working on her first book. In the literary article, A Letter and a Dream , it also mentions how she recognized her husband s jealousy and that she knew he resented her literary success in light of his own failures (Lear 35). Into her last two years of marriage with Charles, they were already living two separate lives and she soon divorced him. Rawlings s never was or became dependent on a man for stability or his ... • 6. Theu.s. Constitution Vs. The Constitution The U.S Constitution was written by James Madison and was ratified on July 21, 1788. Ever since people had trouble determining how it should be interpreted. When judges interpret the constitution, they are interpreting new facts to an established law that has been given meaning and has a historical background. Many people argue that it should be read how it was written who are known as Originalists. Then there are people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and they are known as Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine whether the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give meaning on the basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the Constitution should be read, whether it be from the Originalists or the Living Constitutionalist s point of view, and why Living Constitutionalism is better. As society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems that occur, and they cannot be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes Living Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a document not just for their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living Constitutionalists might say this is a very bold statement. This quote basically means that the Framers were trying to create a document that would address future and present problems. Please list the main link to the park/reserve/organisation. Breakfast Creek is a major tributary of the Brisbane river and is about a 10 minute walk from my house and although this part of the river is located in an inner city suburb it is teaming with life. Living on the bank and in the water are many species of native flora and fauna but of particular note are thousands of flying foxes roosting in the trees during the day and silently flying out at dusk. However, the entire river system and catchment areas are under threat from introduced species of plants and animals as well as pollution. Given the topic of this weeks discussion I wanted to find out if there were any organisations or groups working towards protecting the biodiversity in my immediate area. One such group is known as Save Our Water Ways Now or SOWN operates in my catchment area. the link to their website is http:/ /www.saveourwaterwaysnow.com.au/ 2. Where is it located? However, despite those differences, both cultures share some similarities. The link between the Indian culture in Nectar in a Sieve and Greek culture is the fact that both cultures are polytheistic, meaning that they worship more than one god. For instance, in Nectar in a Sieve, a massive storm came upon the village where Ruku (main character) and her family lived, which caused the destruction of their home and more importantly the crops, which provided them with food in order to survive. Since Ruku and her family, amongst the other villagers, saw that the situation was not going to improve any time soon they began to pray to their gods. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Continued Increase in the Global Poplulation The global population is increasing exponentially. Enormous quantities of children are born each day and a small percentage is born into an adequate household. This drastically affects the global economy, society and the environment. As Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, said more children from the fit, less from the unfit (Sanger). Population control needs to be implemented through the enforcement of sexual education and greater access to contraceptives in order to decrease the number of births each year. First of all, if teenagers were educated about and had access to contraceptive methods, they would be more willing to put the methods into use. Few sexually active teenagers are responsible with birth control and the majority of teen pregnancies are due to a lack of contraception used before or during intercourse. Though United States does not face the same population pressures as developing regions, accidental pregnancies are common as [they] account for roughly half of all annual births in the United States. (Navarro). There is a myriad of contraceptives available that would benefit teenagers, most commonly external protection devices and oral medications. StayTeen.org states that nearly 3 in 10 teen girls in the US will get pregnant at least once before age 20, more than 700,000 teen pregnancies each year (The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy). These pregnancies are due to lack of education about contraceptive methods and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Answer: this is a form of government that doesn t consider it s people s opinions and thoughts. they use force often and do not hold elections. there is usually one person or a smal group in charge of the government. Authoritarianism Most simply, authoritarianism denotes the absence of free elections and the presence of unconstrained power. In this form of non democratic government, the power and authority wielded by the leader(s) is not contingent upon popular support from the citizenry. Consequently, authoritarian regimes, out of necessity, must tightly control the army and the police which are the primary means by which political opponents can be harassed, exiled, or even executed. Although there is no elaborate or guiding ideology of authoritarianism, there are defining commonalties. Authoritarian regimes do not attempt to control every aspect of society and their main goal is simply the preservation of their own political power. Nonetheless, authoritarian states all tend to possess the following features, although they may vary greatly in the: 1) degree of oppression they impose upon the citizens. 2) amount of force, repression, and violence they use to achieve their goals. 3) degree of enforced public conformity through such means as suppression of intellectual freedom. 4) degree of public support that they enjoy. Authoritarian regimes express principles which are fundamentally at odds with democracy such as rule by a select few, suppression of the opposition, and so on. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are seen as lacking legitimacy in the countries in which they govern. They may be legitimized and also gain popularity from a variety of means. Chief Brody initially backs down about the beach closings, however once the shark attacks came again to the shores of Amity, the beaches were closed. It was an island consensus to hire a shark killer (Quint) to solve the problem, regardless of the hefty fee he charged. It turned out not to be so simple a problem especially for Quint. Once the size of the shark was estimated it created another issue for Amity with the very limited equipment and expertise they had available on the small, isolated island, they had to reach out for expert help (Matt Hooper, Oceanographer). As Jaws continued to attack Amity s beaches it was finally seen for its actual size, that is when Chief Brody made the statement of you re gonna need a bigger boat , which was not written in the original screenplay and has become known as the most memorable line in the movie. Jaws is suspense filled and the music score for the shark attack was developed perfectly to create further suspense, while the music played one watched, glued to the screen waiting to see what was going to happen next. • 17. The Evolution of David The greatest transformation in style that occurred between the Renaissance and the Baroque Era can be found in the evolution of David. The most famous David sculptures come from the well known and talented artists of Michelangelo and Bernini. There have been many David sculptures created throughout time, by such artist as Donatello and Verrocchio, but these works have eclipsed most other works to become sensations that will live forever. Michelangelo s sculpture of David was created in 1504 during the Renaissance Era. It was commissioned for the Florence Cathedral but eventually replaced Donatello s David in front of Piazza Della Signoria. Michelangelo s David is over 17 feet tall without the pedestal and depicts a flawless, imposing figure standing in a contrapposto position making him look more naturalistic. Unlike Bernini s sculpture of David, Michelangelo portrays David before his fight with Goliath. Michelangelo has been said to have sculpted by first conceptualizing the mass of the work and then carefully extracting all of the marble that was not part of the image. Indeed, in the David it appears that he worked from front to back instead of from all four sides of the marble block, allowing the figure, as it were, to step out of the stone. (Fichner Rathus, 377) Bernini s David created in 1693 during the Baroque Era, was made for the nephew of Pope Paul V and now resides in the Galleria Borghese in Rome, Italy. Popular mythology conjures up images of Puritan New England as a pious, homogenous, agrarian community, a Citty upon a Hill intended to inspire the English homeland to turn to Puritan ways.(1) However, Puritan New England was more than a collection of small, agrarian communities. The harbors of New England supported shipping and fishing industries, and abundant timberand ore supplies inspired the Puritans of North America to pursue a colonial version of the English iron industry. A more detailed recitation of his exploits is unnecessary here, but as a stranger to the community, Greenland s behavior made him undesirable to that community, and the community had an interest in, and took action toward, securing his removal. It exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO), 1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of running out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food options; anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003). Pro life argues that killing an innocent human being no matter if it is unborn, it is still murder. They also argue that by eight weeks of gestation the spinal cord is developed. The spinal cord is most primitive response to pain which is explained by Maureen Condic, PhD. Evidence found by Dr. Bernard N. It is argued any moment or reactions seen in fetuses when they detect pain are more of a reflex not actual proof that the fetus feels anything. (McDonough, 2013) Even though the spinal cortex is needed to feel pain, neuroscientists believe that it does become functional until at least 26 weeks if development. The Legality Of Planned Parenthood Abortion is a controversial topic in the United States, causing a split debate on the morality of allowing women to continue aborting babies up until 22 weeks of gestation and the argument that abortion should not be allowed on any circumstances excluding rape, incest or the health of the mother. These situations are complex and many women have strong opinions and they use the terms Prolife or Prochoice to explain their position on the matter. Planned Parenthood is the primary location where women can carry out the termination of their pregnancy. Abortionis always a political issue during election time so the legality of Planned Parenthood is constantly being inspected. The disease can infect over 30 species, including humans, however dogs are the definitive host. The most common way this disease is transmitted from one animal to the next is through mosquitoes . A mosquito carrying infective heartworm larvae bites a dog and transmits the infection to them. The larvae grow, develop, and migrate in the body over a period of 6 to 7 months, in which time they become sexually mature male and female worms. this is the prepatent period. Some dogs only have an acute case; this is when no abnormal clinical signs are observed. The next level of the disease would be just a mild one were a cough is present. Dogs with a cough, exercise intolerance, and abnormal lung sounds would have a moderate form. The last and most severe form is when the dog is experiencing the previously mentioned clinical signs and/or, dyspnea, hepatomegaly (liver enlargement), syncope, ascites (fluid in abdomen), abnormal heart sounds and possibly death. Diagnosing the disease can be relatively simple, but this depends on accurate patient history and ones ability to recognize varied clinical signs and then perform diagnostic procedures. These diagnostic procedures may include antigen testing, x rays, ultrasonography, angiography, a complete blood count, the Knott s or Filter test, and in the worst case necropsy. Of these, antigen testing is the preferred method for both heartworm diagnosis and screening. However the test can only detect circulating microfilaria so if the animal was infected in the last 6 to 7 months the results would be negative. On the other hand if the animal was treated for heartworms in the past 16 weeks the results of an antigen test would be positive. For these reasons the diagnosis of Canine Heartworm should not be left entirely to the results of one time antigen testing. The treatment for Canine Heartworm Disease is usually successful, with the goal being to kill all adult worms and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Virginia plan placed a lot of power in the legislative branch, and had a system very similar to the one we use today. The branch is split up into two houses, the House of Representatives, as well as the Senate. The number of officials in these institutions would be based solely on population, or their contribution to the federation. They would be voted on by the people, for the House of Reps, and the Senate would then be chosen by government officials. This was a very scary plan to the smaller states, who much rather favored the New Jersey plan. This option outlined a very equal playing field for all states. This changed though when Sargent Major John Rawlins confronted him for his behavior and told him what was actually going on and why they were here. To me this is a pivotal moment in the movie because you see with the help of the brilliant actor Denzel, Trips eyes widen as if he can see for the first time in a long time, the reason for the war and the fighting was for him and his brothers and sisters. Sargent Major Rawlins tells him that the white men are dying by the thousands for them and the least they can do is do anything to pay them back. Isis was first created in Iraq and is now slowly growing too many other countries in the world. This group is now one the biggest problems that the world faces today. Isis stands for Islamic state in Iraqand Syria. Members of Isis were first a part of al Qaeda, then in 2013 became its own group. This paper will answer: How was Isis formed, and why is it the way it is today? Under its former name Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis), it was formed in April 2013, growing out of al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI). The organization is led by Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. Little is known about him, but it is believed he was born in Samarra, north of Baghdad, in 1971 and joined the insurgency that erupted in Iraq soon after the 2003 US led invasion. In 2010 he emerged as the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, one of the groups that later became Isis. Baghdadi is regarded as a battlefield commander and tactician, which analysts say makes his group more attractive to young jihadists than al Qaeda, which is led by Ayman al Zawahiri, an Islamic theologian. IS claims to have fighters from the UK, France, Germany and other European countries, as well as the US, the Arab world and the Caucasus (The Islamic State militant group). • 37. Automation And The Assembly Line Essay Automation has taken many forms in the past century with new technologies being introduced and great innovations being made. Automation was first established in 1913 with the assembly line: The introduction of the assembly line at Ford Motor Company in 1913 is often cited as one of the first forms of automation (Dias, 2014). While this type of automation is very different from what we experience today, it is a great example of just how time saving it can be to add automation to a production process. The introduction of the assembly lineresulted in Ford cutting the time it takes to produce a car from 12 hours down to only 1.5 hours. Automation has come a long way since then and takes a very different form today. Automation now refers to machinery that has sensing and control devices that enable it to operate automatically (Stevenson, 2015, p. 245). It takes many forms and often surrounds us in our everyday lives in things that we have come to take for granted, such as ATMs, automatic faucets, and Redbox dvd rental machines. Just as it did with the Ford Motor Companyover a century ago, the use of automation has helped companies make great strides in increasing efficiency and reducing the time that is needed to produce goods. There are many advantages to using automation over human labor. Automation removes the mistakes in production caused by human error, and therefore eliminates the waste and costs associated with these mistakes. One huge advantage automation offers ... Thomas Hobbes And The Leviathan And Nicomachean Ethics Thomas Hobbes and Aristotle address the role that governments have in the promotion of good virtue amongst their citizens in The Leviathan and Nicomachean Ethics. The authors offer ideas along similar lines. This is in regards to the belief that Hobbes and Aristotle hold, which is that governments do have a role in promoting good morals and leading a virtuous life; Hobbes by sovereignty and Aristotle through means of reaching telos. Thomas Hobbesposition is made in The Leviathan, in which he argues that citizens are less troubled when they agree to a commonwealth, or a unity of them all because they are unified in that they constitute one single person (Hobbes 79). When men agree to be governed by a sovereign, he is then responsible for encouraging them to lead virtuous lives by practicing good morals. They could not be led astray because the sovereign is such a supreme example, this is why they are given the freedom of choice. He would also argue against neutrality on behalf of the government, because he does not believe that human nature always serves as the best guide for humans. Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethicsis similar to Hobbes work, in that he also agrees that government should promote good morals. However, it differs as Aristotle thinks that the main responsibility of a government is to see to it that their citizens are capable of reaching their telos. However, according to the research that my team and I have conducted, this advantage is very fragile. MagaГ±a s Presidency took an active and purposeful role in opposing the FMLN guerrillas through attacks on the group s primarily peasant base and support network. From 1981 to 1983, it is estimated that at least 18,000 civilians were killed by government forces. Many of these deaths were the result of air force bombings of peasants trying to flee across the Honduras border or massacres committed by government infantry groups against FMLN friendly villages such as El Mozote in December 1981. Paramilitary death squads were also incredibly active during this time period, at one point killing six members of the opposition Christian Democratic Party (PDC), resulting in a condemnation of the MagaГ±a government by PDC leader JosГ© NapoleГіn Duarte. The second phase of the conflict, following the election of Duarte and the PDC in the 1984 5 elections, resulted in a reduction in government violence against civilians and attempts, although ultimately unsuccessful, to reach a peace between the FMLN and government.
