Pelé, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was born on October 23,
1940, in Três Corações, Brazil and dead on December 29, 2022. Growing up in
poverty, Pelé showed an early talent for football, playing with a makeshift ball on
the streets of his hometown.
3. BEGINNING OF HIS CAREER
At the age of 15, Pelé made his professional debut for Santos FC, a club where
he would spend the majority of his career. His incredible skill and goal-scoring
ability quickly caught the attention of the football world.
4. FIFA WORD CUP
• Pele won three soccer World Cups with his team, the first in 1958 at the age
of 17, the second in 1962 and the third in 1970. He was very important for
Brazil during these titles.
• He became the youngest footballer to win a World Cup
5. RETIREMENT AND POST
RETIREMENT
• After retiring from playing, Pelé remained involved in football as a global
ambassador for the sport. He has been a vocal advocate for various social causes
and has used his platform to promote peace and understanding through sport.
• Pelé officially retired from professional football in 1977.
6. MY OPINION
For me, Pele was one of the best footballers, but in addition to that, he inspired
many on and off the field and I deferred to that from the others.
