Do civil authorities have the right to use every legal resource or tool within their power to protect
their citizens? As a citizen of a civilized country, I believe the civil authorities have the right and it
is their duty to do whatever is within their legal authority to protect our way of life. At this time an
ongoing debate in our political discourse is the concern for privacyrights versus the concern for

the founder of the Mali Empire in West Africa. This story is an oral tale of a young king s rise to
power and is narrated by Djeli Mamoudo Kouyate who was a griot or traditional storyteller.
Griots are known to be ancient historians, keeping track of their culture and passing down this
information which lasts, generation after generation. In Sundiata an epic, Kouyate expresses how
important it is to the Malinke culture to preserve this oral history. I teach kings the history of their
ancestors so that the lives of the ancients might serve them as an example, for the world is old, but

Glaciers are formed in places where there is adequate snowfall and cold temperatures;
specifically, the area needs to have temperatures that are less than 32* F and more snow than is
able to melt in the summer. Present day, glaciers only form in high latitudes and high elevations.
However, 14,000 years ago, during the Pleistocene Ice Age, Michigan was covered by a mile and
half mile deep glacier. Over thousands of years, the temperatures alternated from warm to cool,
causing the glaciers to retreat and advance. As glaciers traveled this way, they took the path of

that are formed by broken off pieces of glaciers as they move. These pieces create indents in the
