Did apartheid era influence your company s business both locally and as well as internationally?
Comment___________________________________________________________________ (4)
Analysis of Findings:
Business 1:
This business was established before the year 1948, the year Apartheid laws were introduced. Part of
the Apartheid laws was placing economic sanctions on South Africa which caused many businesses to
disinvest from South Africa, but this business did not withdraw its trade from South Africa, instead it
adopted the Sullivan Principles which expanded the corporate code and promoted the advancement of
human rights and social justice for companies based abroad.
Business 2:
This particular business was active during the height of Apartheid which means that they were
established before the Apartheid laws were put into place during 1948. The business later changed its
company name and then went on to disinvest from the South African economy. It was situated on 124
Main Street, and due to the fact that the company did not adopt policies of any sort to protect itself
from the Apartheid laws it was placed under high risk and received bomb threats regularly. The
political reforms introduced in the 1990 s encouraged the company to return to South

Comparing The Martian And Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
The differences between The Martian, by Andy Weir, and Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, are often
straightforward. However, with more attention to detail and analysis, the similarities become quite
pronounced as well. First, in The Martian and Persepolis setting strongly influences the characters and
their experiences. The setting themselves are quite different as The Martian takes place on Mars, while
Persepolis takes place in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. However, both texts have placed their
characters in situations where they are challenged to adapt to what is taking place around them. For
example, to show significance of setting, Mark Watney in The Martian is stranded on Mars and must
survive with only the limited resources he has, and his knowledge. That said, if this text were to take
place on Earth or in a different setting, the story wouldn t present the same challenges and experiences
that it does. Overall, while completing his daily routine Watney discovers Mars is a barren wasteland
and I am completely alone here (Weir 74). In this quote Watney is expressing the loneliness aspect of
the conditions he is in. Similarly, the setting in Persepolis is crucial because it places the story with the
historical context of a country in deep political conflict. Having the story take place in a real life
setting also allows for a stronger use of previous knowledge of the setting for the reader. However, the
setting impacts the story so notably and if someone were to use prior knowledge about the region,
shying away from making assumptions would be very important. Both texts include crucial details and
events that are clear effects of where the stories take place. Second, throughout both texts the setting
not only correlates with the development of conflict but is found to be a primary cause as well. Similar
to what was mentioned earlier, the conflict would not develop in the same manner if the setting were
to be changed. For example, in Persepolis, Marji is growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution.
Being a ten year old girl, Marji faces intrapersonal conflicts as she begins to discover what her goals
are and what kind of girl she wants to be. Along with Marji developing individually, she

Moderates In French Revolution
Moderates Placing the need of stability over revolutionary reform, the moderates fail to solve the very
everyday issues that the oppressed majority revolted for. Although they have the power to kickstart the
revolution, coming from the better status from the old order; moderates eventually disappoint the
crowd because they do not fully implement the changes they have promised. Moderate groups, such as
France s National Assembly, promote equality among the people but forgot to give themselves enough
power to execute reforms because they are equal to everyone else. The very first articles of the
Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen, passed by the National Assembly in August 1789,
proclaims Men are born and remain free and equal in rights

Screwtape Letter Research Paper
Indeed, the safest road to Hell is the gradual one... (Lewis 61).
Throughout The Screwtape Letters, Screwtape consistently reiterates his
idea that the gradual road to hell is the safest . Because Screwtape
places so much emphasis on the gradual road, one must stop and consider
it closely. This gives us three questions that we should consider: What is
the gradual road to hell? How does Satan use it? How can the
Christian be on guard?
The gradual road to hell is the small sins that can separate someone
from God without the person even noticing they are drifting away. While
many people may believe that the quickest ways into hell are big sins like
murder, rape, and stealing, Screwtape seems to think the contrary. He ... Show more content on

Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick (60 61).
In reality, no sin is greater than another. Satan understands that, though
we often do not, and will use that to his advantage.
Satan uses the gradual road to hell to enslave the victim often without the victim knowing what is
happening. If the Christian knew
he was on the steep road down, he would surely notice and turn around.
As Screwtape says:
As long as he retains externally the habits of a Christian he can still be made to think of himself as one
who has adopted a few new friends and amusements but whose spiritual state is much the same as it
was three weeks ago. And while he thinks that, we do not have to contend with the explicit repentance
of a definite, fully recognised, sin, but only with this vague, though uneasy, feeling that he hasn t been
doing very well lately. (57 58)
If Satan is able to keep us entangled in sin, no matter how small, we begin
to drift away from God and follow our own path, while still thinking we are
close to God, when the reality is that we have given ourselves over to
something else. The reason Satan s methods work is because we are so often
focused on ourselves that we don t even see the road we are walking.

Glass Ceiling Sexism
Women make up half of the world, but they re never been treated as equal to men. They ve had to
work for everything they have today. Women had to fight for the right to vote as well as the right to
leave their homes and become working citizens. Women have broken many barriers placed on them,
but they still haven t broken the glass ceiling. The glass ceiling is the invisible barrier that women, as
well as other minorities, face when it comes to equal pay. For every dollar earned by a man, a woman
only makes about seventy five cents. This is not in any way a fair. Women work the same job for the
same amount of time as men, but they earn less. This is what sexism looks like and there are laws
against it, but these laws are not being enforced or taken seriously. The laws against the glass ceiling
and sexism in the workplace should be enforced. Before World War 1 women were seen as solely
being homemakers. If a woman worked she was frowned upon. Women were expected to stay at
home, cook, clean, and take care of the children. They didn t get a say in anything concerning world
matter or even community matters. Men did not see them as equals, rather a piece ... Show more

Most TV shows feature strong male leads with the women being the ditzy side kick. If these women
on TV can t stand up and be strong and independent it s no wonder that the younger generation of girls

know exactly what they can do. Women are just as smart and hard working as men, and yet they re
hardly even acknowledged. The solution to this problem is to cast more women in strong roles.
Women are not weak and fragile like they re portrayed. In todays world women are in stronger roles
than in the past, but it s not enough. Women should be in leading roles, and kicking butt, it s one way
to show little girls that it s okay to be demanding and to take what they

A Study On Renal Cancer
Adrianna Dunn
Professor Riggs
English Composition 1
Due: 11 December 2014
Renal Cancer It is the one word that can send chills and tremors up anyone s back, because in one
word alone everything can change. Cancer, a word that in itself holds so many questions, thoughts,
fears, and worries. There are over 100 different types of cancer; however all cancers begin because
abnormal cells grow out of control. Normal cells follow a pattern: they grow, divide, and die. Cancer
cells grow differently than normal cells. Instead of dying, the cells reproduce more abnormal cells.
Cancer cells are also very distinct in the fact that they can grow into other tissues, normal cells cannot
do this. The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is in every cell, it is what directs all the cell s actions. In
normal cells, when DNA gets destroyed the cell either dies or repairs itself; in cancer cells, however,
the cell goes on making new cells that the body has no use for. The new cells now have the same
abnormal DNA as the first cell. If cancer cells penetrate the blood stream or lymph vessels they can
easily spread and attack other areas of the body. Today, hundreds of thousands of people are fighting
or have fought cancer. Over one half of all men and one third of all women will develop cancer during
their lifetime. It is safe to say that almost every person has been affected by cancer in some way,
shape, or form. Cancer in itself is the modern day epidemic much like the black plaque was during its
era.

When Britain declared war in 1917 and joined forces with the Allied powers, Canada followed suit
immediately. McCrae had seen first hand the deadly effects of war and had no illusions of what to
expect. McCrae was assigned to be surgeon to the 1st Field Artillery Brigade. He felt he was one of
the most qualified doctor soldiers in the country and felt his obligation to the country and to the
Empire. McCrae amp;#8217;s greatest test would come when his Canadian contingent were sent to the
Ypres Salient.
Up to this point the Canadians were not regarded as fighting soldiers and were thus given the
assignment of occupying this relatively quite sector of the front. The importance of Ypres would soon
be realized when on April 22, 1915 the German line used the first poisonous gas attack in war against
the Canadians and Algerians troops to gain access to the important roads that intersected in Ypres. The
Algerian troops fled leaving a gap of six kilometers along the trench system. Now the German side
had the ability to take control of the area. Somehow the gap was filled with the Canadians who even
managed to counterattack, a strategy that came as a complete surprise to the Germans. John McCrae
amp;#8217;s post was near a particularly dangerous section of the road. The Germans had it covered
with artillery fire for seventeen days of battle. McCrae would later

ABSTRACT
This paper is an attempt to understand the concept of Goods and Service Tax (GST), to be
implemented in India from 1st July 2017. This changing face of Indian taxation system paves the path
of development and advancement towards which developing country like India is trying to move on.It
is the biggest and substantial indirect tax reform since 1947. The main is to replace existing taxes like
value added tax, excise duty, service tax and sales tax. It will be levied on manufacture ... Show more

In India also dual system of GST is proposed including CGST and SGST. It is a domestic trade tax
that will be levied in the form of a value added tax on all goods and services in practice with some
exemptions. A value added tax exempts all inputs including capital goods. Hence, it becomes a general
tax on domestic consumption. It is a convenient and economically efficient way of taxing
consumption. It is a comprehensive tax regime levied on manufacture, sales and consumption of goods
and services. It is expected to bring about 2% incremental GDP growth of the country.
The Value Added Tax (VAT) when introduced was considered to be a major improvement over the pre
existing Central excise duty at the national level and the sales tax system at the State level. Now the
Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be a further significant breakthrough the next logical step towards
a comprehensive indirect tax reform in the country. Despite the success with VAT, there are still
certain shortcomings in the structure of
VAT both at the Central and at the State level. The shortcoming in CENVAT of theGovernment of
India lies in non inclusion of several Central taxes in the overallframework of CENVAT, such as
additional customs duty, surcharges, etc., and thuskeeping the benefits of comprehensive input tax and
service tax set off out of reach formanufacturers/dealers. Moreover, no step has yet been taken to

Conditional Cash Transfer ( Cct ) Programmes Essay
Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programmes are a form of social protection which provide modest
monthly cash transfers to families with children. Cash transfers are conditional on families meeting
the minimum requirements of regular school attendance and the use of preventive healthcare services.
Although largely praised for their success, CCTs are criticised for using conditionality as a means of
achieving the objectives to improve the capital accumulation of those living in abject poverty.
Providing direct cash transfers to raise the income levels of the poor are a precursor to long term
poverty reduction strategies. The conditional aspect of the CCT program assures the adequate
investment of parents and children in improving the health and welfare of their family: a necessary
aspect of breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty. Brazil s CCT, Bolsa Familia targets
the education and health indicators of their beneficiaries in order to achieve human capital
accumulation. CCT programmes have multiple impacts on the education and health of recipient
families. In the following I will assess their impacts on education and health by observing the inputs
for health and education and the outcomes of human capital accumulation.
Brazil s CCT, Bolsa Familia is the largest CCT programme in the world. Today, Bolsa Familia covers
13 million households, with about 5 people in each household.
This is equates to about 25% of the population of Brazil. (Brazil is very

Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Themes
Everyone undergoes unpleasant experiences, but did you know that these experiences help you grow
as a person? The historical drama novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor, portrays
the Logan family, and the hardships they must experience as a black family in the segregated South.
There are four children in the Logan family: Little Man, Christopher John, Cassie, and Stacey. One of
Stacey s friends is T.J. Avery, but T.J. later goes on to be friends with two older white boys, R.W. and
Melvin Simms. R.W. and Melvin Simms also have a younger sister, Lillian Jean, a prideful and
persnickety girl. One theme in this book is coming of age through pain and experience. The characters

learns a multitude of important lessons through his wrongdoings with R.W. and Melvin. When the
Simms brothers maimed him just for disagreeing with them, T.J. realizes that they were just using him
the entire time. He learns not to seek popularity by doing crime with corrupt white men. At the same
time, T.J. also learns that Stacey was his only true friend. T.J. said he ain t never really had no true
friend but you [Stacey] (page 248) . He realizes this when Stacey helps him get home safely. On the
other hand, his friends R.W. and Melvin framed him by telling everyone that three black boys robbed
their store [the Barnett mercantile] and knocked out her and her husband (page 253). When R.W. and
Melvin asserted that T.J. was guilty, they brought him to court to get tried. This is where T.J. learned a
third lesson. At the biased court, T.J. was proven guilty even though there was ample evidence of his
innocence. Through his rash actions, T.J. could possibly go on the chain gang (page 274), or even die.
T.J., a sly, foolish, lazy manipulator, learns that being vindictive to your true friends will never end
happily.
Little Man, Cassie, and T.J. learned multiple life lessons in the book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by
experiencing and suffering. On Little Man s first day of school, Cassie s first time to the market, and
when T.J. gets in more trouble than ever before, the characters learn important life lessons through
their painful experiences.

Why Should We Assess Children Essay
Why do we assess children? Upon looking for the meaning of Assessments on the NAEYC website, I
came across several different reasons to way it is important. Assessment is defined as the measurement
of what students are learning. Student achievement is defined as how well they ve mastered certain
target skills. Assessments provide educators with both objective and subjective data in order to
ascertain student progress and skill mastery. No matter what we are doing in the classroom with our
students around we are doing some type of assessment. Now NAEYC says. Assessments help teachers
plan appropriately challenging curriculum and tailor instruction that responds to each child s strengths
and needs. Assessments can also help teachers identify children with disabilities and ensuring that they
receive needed services. And also, Assessment methods are appropriate for each child s age and level
of development and encompass all areas of development, including math, science, and other cognitive

Informal assessment has to do with the way that they play, the language that is being used, and how
they react to the environment that is around them. While doing this you are taking notes, i.e. writing in
down on a sticky tab, taking pictures and videos of how engaging the activity is for the child or if they
are some things that need o be changed. Formal assessment has to deal with pulling the child out of
their natural environment and asking the child questions that he or she should be able to answer. It is a
one on one assessment for them to take that is base on a grading scale of some sort. For example, at
the beginning of the year VPK must take a test to show the teacher at what level they are on. That is

Emergency Medical Transportation Resource Deployment Case...
AA is a nonprofit company that offers emergency and nonemergency transportation activities within
Missouri and Illinois. Due to the large area that they service, they utilize a computer system that
prioritizes the resource allocation that is available. Based on the higher call volume, AA is faced with
not being able to dispatch and utilize resources efficiently and effective. In order to help dispatchers

the factors that affect the assignment of resources and how the system is audited for improvements.

A Night To Remember Essay

Titanic set sail to New York. The great ship was as big as five city blocks, and weighed thousands and
thousands of tons. Everyone who was everyone grabbed a room on the luxurious ship for the trip of a

Atlantic.
People were shocked at the news of the quot;unsinkable quot; Titanic sinking and this disbelief was
due to the 19th Century s reliance on science and industry to solve problems. When people set eyes on
the most luxurious and biggest ship ever, they easily presumed it unsinkable. The Titanic, along with it

Feminism Vs 3rd Wave Feminism
3: The first obvious difference between 2nd and 3rd wave feminism is time: 2nd wave occurred
mostly in the 1960s and 1970s, while 3rd wave is generally considered to take place in the 1990s and
later. Additionally, 3rd wave focuses more on the individual experience and possible intersectionality,
as opposed to 2nd wave, which focused more on women receiving legal rights. Chapter 1 of Women s
Studies discusses the advances the 2nd wave movement brought about, particularly in the cases of Roe
v. Wade, adding Gender and Women s Studies to a number of colleges and universities, the Equal Pay
Act in 1963, Title VII, as well as a commission to enforce these anti discriminatory laws (Shaw and
Lee, 7). While this did make a difference in the lives of many women, legal change without societal
change (as those who enforce the legal system are still socialized in our culture) can be unproductive.
This is where 3rd wave feminism seeks to improve upon their predecessors. While 2nd wave
feminism concentrated on collective action and measurable results, 3rd wave focuses on the individual
experience, and particularly the experiences of queer women. 2nd wave feminism s goals were more
concrete, and so it is easy to imply that their goal was reached, and that women are equal to men.
However, 3rd wave feminism s agenda is vaguer and focuses on systemic issues, making it harder to
determine what a mutually agreed upon solution would look like. Because of this ambiguity, a
prominent weakness is

Michael Moore s Bowling For Columbine Essay
When Michael Moore first created the documentary, Bowling for Columbine , in 2002 he not only
wanted to raise awareness around the tragedy that was the Columbine Massacre, but wanted to look
beyond that and dig deep into finding out the political events that led up to this tragic event. Michael
Moore wanted to seek to investigate and confront leading, powerful politicians for allowing this
violent culture to worsen for their own benefit through creating this documentary. It is clear that
Moore loves his country but hates its current politics which is why he decided to make Bowling for
Columbine as it both highlights the issues surrounding Americas current Gun laws whilst investigating
the truth behind the Columbine Massacre and the political events leading up to this tragedy. This
reading will explore Michael Moores political stance whilst investigating the power of the NRA
(national rifle association) and the manipulation of the media whilst finding out the political events
that led to the Columbine Massacre and changing the way Americans think about their 2nd
amendment ( right to bare arms ). It will also talk about Americas violent history.
Michael Moore was born in Flint, Michigan on April 23, 1954 where he then studied Journalism at the
University of Michigan Flint. Moore began working for the school newspaper, The Michigan Times
but turned to to filmmaking where his first BIG hit was Bowling for Columbine and earned him not
only an oscar but a big reputation.

Sara Bareilles Research Paper
Often overlooked and not properly recognized, singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles is a vocal sensation
and musical mastermind. Stunning live audiences with her rare ability to sound better on stage than in
the recording studio, she brings every ounce of emotion, from hitting rock bottom or having a terrible
heartbreak to becoming comfortable and proud of oneself, to every performance. Bareilles was born
and raised in Eureka, California and attended University of California, Los Angeles before entering
the music industry. She grew up in a family that loved and valued musical theater and wanted to
become a performer herself; however, she feared that she would not find a break and would be
working as a waitress her whole life to support a dream. After graduation, she won the university s
renowned performance competition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bareilles was born for the stage; her shows involve and engage the audience as well as strategically
approach specific tracks to make listeners race with unknown feelings. On top of that, she delivers her
unrelenting, heartfelt lyrics with possibly the strongest vocal range in the music industry. It is hard to
imagine someone with the songwriting ability and raw vocal talent she possesses going unnoticed.
Despite unrivaled skill though, she has a rather low profile among today s musicians, partially
attesting to the fact that the majority of the music industry relies on danceable electronic beats, auto
tune, and body image for popularity and success. Bareilles stands out in the music industry by doing
the exact opposite. The singer/songwriter keeps a low profile on social media and keeps her personal
life out of the public domain. Additionally,

Marriage In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, a group of traveling pilgrims on their way from London
to Canterbury pass the time by telling each other stories and tales. A handful of the tales are on the
topic of marriage, most notably The Miller s Tale, The Wife of Bath s Tale and The Merchant s Tale.
The Miller talks about his wife and marriage poorly in his prologue and his tale is just as cynical. The
Wife of Bath reveals in her prologue that she has had five husbands, something that was frowned upon
then just as it still is in today s society. In her tale, the story sees the main character change his view
on his own marriage from a negative thing to something he cherishes. Finally, The Merchant s
prologue reveals that he, too, has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, The Miller says that there was quite an age difference between John and Alisoun, his wife,
and that John heeld hire narwe in cage , meaning that he held her in confinement (Chaucer 267).
Husbands having this type of control over their wives was not unique to this time period seeing as it
was the norm for many years to come. One part of the story describes what Alisoun is wearing and
how she looks. This section goes on for lines and lines and implies that women are only good for their
appearance. He also says that Alisoun is gent and smal , which can be translated to slender and
delicate while also revealing that she is merely eighteen years old (Chaucer 267). As the story goes on,
Nicholas is introduced. He professes his love for her and begs her to return the emotion. She declines
and he reacts negatively, to which Alisoun immediately changes her mind and returns his love. She
says that they can be together if they wait patiently and are secretive (Chaucer 268). Planning to cheat
on one s husband is not something that would be viewed positively in that time and this shows that
Alisoun, in a way, did not conform to the way that women were expected to act in marriages at the
time. Even though cheating has never been held to a high standard during any time period, having a
female character want to act unfaithfully to her husband can be seen as a good thing in terms of female
empowerment in The Miller s Tale.
Before Chaucer begins The Wife of

Pros And Cons Of American War In The Philippines
CON #1 As an ally of United States, it is not impossible to create enemies around the world that
would lead to engagement into battles.
The Philippines during 1941 was to the eyes of the Japanese Empire a perfect strategic location for
their campaign of conquest of South Eastern Asia. Not only was it a perfect place to station troops to
launch further assaults on positions like Singapore and Australia. It was also a resource rich country
which would further fuel the Japanese war machine and feed the Japanese people at home. Though
there was a substantial American Force stationed throughout The Philippines at the time, it was both
of the strategic location and resources which governed the Japanese decision to invade the islands.

The Pros And Cons Of Ecotourism
Over the past few decades, the tourism industry has grown leaps and bounds in regards to the amount
of traveling and recreational opportunities available. Many of these options now include fine dining on
airlines, unique lodging options worldwide, and other activities. Although the industry may be
evolving, consequently many legal issues arise as a result. These issues become a challenge for travel
officials, as they work together to find effective solutions to settle them. One of the larger issues at
hand in the world today is ecotourism. Ecotourism allows people to visit areas around the world that
have experienced little to no human impact such as pollution, traffic, and other types of invasive

Essentially, Showing people a rainforest rather than logging... is a good compromise if the forest is
preserved (qtd. in ). Then there are the negatives associated with ecotourism as a whole. Various
reports such as the damaging of coral reefs by tourists involved in scuba diving activities have become
a prevalent issue, while the building of eco lodges in forests and jungles have resulted in the continual
disturbance of the animals who live in those areas as well as the continuous removal of natural
vegetation which may also contain food supplies for animals. Safari tours that take place in Africa also
have similar results, as many tourists who ride in jeeps contribute to the disturbance of food sources,
such as game that lions depend on for survival. In Africa, many indigenous peoples such as the Masai
in Kenya have lost their land to the ecotourism industry, and have been forced to move elsewhere.
Environmentalists argue that, Unwittingly, the tourists are destroying the culture that they are paying

There is nothing stopping people taking money from tourists as well as pursuing environmentally
unfriendly activities (qtd. in

Reflection About Group Presentations
We all certainly have to do group presentations during our student life. This method of study is vital,
as it is a successful alternative or addition to the traditional term paper. It can balance the student s
educational experiences by providing training in oral communication, interpersonal skills, and
analytical thinking. (King 1990, p.77). Therefore, it is necessary for us to reflect on what we have
done and learnt through group presentations. In this essay, I would have a look back at what I
experienced and learnt from the BCM110 group assignment.
Our assignment was to work together and do research on a media issue that we studied in the lectures.
After four weeks, we had to give a class presentation on what we had researched. Our ... Show more

However, our main issue is Groupthink . Groupthink is defined as the pressure to conform within a
group interfering with objective analysis of a problem and causes poor group decision making.
(Dwyer 2013, p.221). There was lack of discussion regarding new ideas in our team. No
contradictions were often made, and we always reached agreement very quickly because we all
seemed want to avoid conflict. For instance, when a member said Powerpoint was simple and time
saving than other presentation methods, we all quickly agreed to choose Powerpoint without no
further arguments. As a result, our presentation seemed quite boring compared with other groups who
created a play. To avoid Groupthink , we can apply the brainstoriming strategy to encourage creativity
and diversity of ideas. We should write up all the ideas and generate possible solutions, eliminate
duplicate ideas to find the most effective solutions.
Regarding my individual performance, I was a responsible member and always actively listened to
other members ideas to give constructive feedback. I focused on what other members said and
encourage them to express their viewpoint. For example, when we discussed on fandoms, I wanted to
talk about Monsters the fanclub of Lady Gaga while Teskana preferred the example of One Direction.
However, I listened to the reasons Tes gave, and finally agreed that One Direction

In the gospels Matthew and John, written by Matthew and John, there are two difference and 1
similarity in this two gospels. The difference and similarity of this gospels are important to distinguish
between the gospels. Matthew starts his gospel by tracing Jesus s ancestors back to Abraham and Jesus
s conception. Then Matthew goes on to describe Jesus s birth. Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem
where they were visited by three wise men bearing gifts. Herod the Great was the king and he heard
that there was a baby that was named Jesus and he was the king of the Jews. Herod ordered to kill all

disciples. Has Jesus made his way through Galilee, he stopped by his hometown Nazareth. While he
was in Nazareth he multiplied breed and fish to feed many people and walking on water. After he
stopped in Nazareth he went to Jerusalem. Crowds awaited him at Jerusalem. Jesus and his disciples
were together at the last supper when Jesus said that Judas would betray him. While Jesus was leaving
a garden he was stopped by a mob of people and roman soldiers and was arrested. After Jesus was
arrested he was taken to a Jewish court and was convicted of blasphemy. The governor of Rome was
the final verdict, then he looked to the crowds for the verdict. The crowds said to crucify him, so Jesus
was crucified. Then three days after Jesus died he resurrected. There are two differences and there is

Dementia means [loss of mental faculties] as stated Advances in Art Therapy edited by Harriet

fact that people who experience senility are experiencing symptoms of natural aging, not neurological

Summary Of Mira Nair And Mississippi Masala
Mira Nair and Mississippi Masala (1991) Introduction Mira Nair is an independent filmmaker who
splits her time between New York City, Kampala, and wherever her next project takes her. As
appraised by the writers at RogerEbert.com, Nair has made a career of presenting audiences with
characters they may not know first hand, but connect with personally (2016). Her work is a delicate
balance between the exploration of complex issues of identity and displacement and the humor and
vibrancy of everyday life. Background Born on October 15, 1957 in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, India,
young Nair watched as her father, a civil servant, helped mold India s new identity (IMDb, 2017). At
the age of sixteen, Nair pursued protest theater in Kolkata (kael kun taa), capital of West Bengal state
(Badt, 2004, pg. 10). Her college career began at Delhi University, with a focus on theater, and
continued at Harvard University, where Nair became enamored with cinéma vérité and sociology
(Badt, 2004, pg. 10). She directed her first work, Jama Masjid Street Journal (1979), at the age of 22
(Nair Meer, 1991, pg. 47). The thematic aspect of Nair s films remains consistent. Her work explores
the concept of otherness, as seen in the dancers of India Cabaret (documentary, 1985), the homeless
children of Salaam Bombay! (fiction, 1988), and the cultural hybrid that is Mina of Mississippi
Masala (fiction, 1991) (Shah, 1987, pg. 23). The word sensual reappears in interviews and film
reviews, which

The Application of Psychodynamic Theory Through Dream...
INTRODUCTION Psychodynamic Theory is based on the premise that human behaviour and
relationships are shaped by conscious and unconscious influences and include factors such as internal
processes, personality, motivation and drives, and the importance of childhood experiences. The essay
will discuss and demonstrate the application of dream analysis as a counselling approach and the
personal and technical challenges associated with using the psychoanalytic technique of ‘free
association’. This will be done by analysing my own personal dream from a psychoanalytical
perspective I will identify and describe two of the techniques used in psychoanalytical therapy: 1.
Psychoanalytical Technique of Free Association 2. Dream ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In adults, however, the situation is more complicated as the dreams of adults have been subjected to
distortion, with the dream s so called manifest content ,including the remnants of the previous days
events or thoughts being a heavily disguised derivative of the latent content, dream thoughts present in
the unconscious, consisting of hidden, symbolic and unconscious motives, wishes and fears. The
manifest content of a dream is the actual content of the dream, what actually happened during the
dream. In contrast, the latent content of the dream is the symbolic meaning of the content of the
dream. In order for a counsellor to get to the latent content, the client discusses the dream s manifest
content and is encouraged to free associate about the dream. It then becomes the counsellor’s task
to decipher the dream s latent content through both defense mechanisms that may be present in the
telling of the dream and in the free association about it. There is natural censorship within dreams that
will present when a client talks about the dream, and reservations or repressions that the client
consciously adds into the dream discussion. Each of the repressions and censors must be overcome,
and the counsellor will have to look deep into the content of the discussion to get to the bottom of it.

The Downfall Of The Romanov Dynasty
In a burgeoning climate of autocracy, the Romanov dynasty was firmly established in the societal
framework of early 20th century Russia. Having been in varying degrees of absolute political control
over an approximate time period of four hundred years, their eventual undoing marked a power shift
polarising the imperial regime laid out by countless Tsars beforehand. Nicholas II, the last Emperor of
Russia, is recognised to have a degree of personal responsibility for the downfall of the Romanovs, yet
the extent to which his decision making skills can be held accountable is questioned by some
historians. Despite this, multiple political, social, and military facets of Nicholas II s reign were
handled with instability, and his perceived lack of legitimacy due to this poor decision making
ultimately was a major causative factor to the downfall of his family s vast dynasty.
Various aspects of Nicholas II s political decisions reflected his clear unsuitability for the role of Tsar,
and these decisions form a preliminary basis for both his own legacy of incompetency the eventual
undoing of the Romanovs. In comparison to rulers preceding, Nicholas was ill prepared for the role:
his father, Alexander III, failed to adequately develop his son s understanding of civil state
responsibilities before his death in 1894, under the guise that he would live long enough to teach
Nicholas of these affairs. Upon his consecration as Tsar, Nicholas spoke in his diary of his
apprehensiveness

Meaning Of Good And Evil
For the word, evil, there are many different ways in which you could define it. Evil seems to come
across to people as killing and torture, and that is right but there is much more to evil than just those
two. Ordinary people do not see a random person walking on the street to be evil, but they could be
evil or really just a person walking down the street. Thinking of humans in a more psychological way
we tend to only see the bad in someone, and not the good they might have. Throughout history, we do
not really see a change in how people view the word evil. To some they may cringe and others it might
light up their eyes. Although we all can perceive evil differently one thing is for sure, and that is the
word good. Everyone sees good as a positive outlook on whatever is around it. People tend to look at
good as if we all should have within us somewhere. These two words have completely different
meanings and different outlook. Good and Evil also means that we are able to give a better
understanding of each because of their differences. Evil tends to have a more lasting impression on
you, and not necessarily a good one but one remember what happens more if it is negative.
According to Gray and Wegner (2009), they intended to look at the more typecasting, which is the
relationship within moral agency and moral patiency (Gray Wegner, 2009). Grey and Wegner (2009),

The other axis of paradigm has consist of rationalist and empiricist , the main debate between two is
about studying nature and sources and limits of knowledge. What is the nature of proposition, whats

Human Knowledge, p. 55) is considerd as the first empiricist philosopher said wisely No man s

However, with more attention to detail and analysis, the similarities become quite pronounced as well. First, in The Martian and Persepolis setting strongly influences the characters and their experiences. The setting themselves are quite different as The Martian takes place on Mars, while Persepolis takes place in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. However, both texts have placed their characters in situations where they are challenged to adapt to what is taking place around them. For example, to show significance of setting, Mark Watney in The Martian is stranded on Mars and must survive with only the limited resources he has, and his knowledge. That said, if this text were to take place on Earth or in a different setting, the story wouldn t present the same challenges and experiences that it does. Overall, while completing his daily routine Watney discovers Mars is a barren wasteland and I am completely alone here (Weir 74). In this quote Watney is expressing the loneliness aspect of the conditions he is in. Similarly, the setting in Persepolis is crucial because it places the story with the historical context of a country in deep political conflict. Having the story take place in a real life setting also allows for a stronger use of previous knowledge of the setting for the reader. However, the setting impacts the story so notably and if someone were to use prior knowledge about the region, shying away from making assumptions would be very important. Both texts include crucial details and events that are clear effects of where the stories take place. Second, throughout both texts the setting not only correlates with the development of conflict but is found to be a primary cause as well. Similar to what was mentioned earlier, the conflict would not develop in the same manner if the setting were to be changed. For example, in Persepolis, Marji is growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Being a ten year old girl, Marji faces intrapersonal conflicts as she begins to discover what her goals are and what kind of girl she wants to be. Along with Marji developing individually, she ... Throughout The Screwtape Letters, Screwtape consistently reiterates his idea that the gradual road to hell is the safest . Because Screwtape places so much emphasis on the gradual road, one must stop and consider it closely. This gives us three questions that we should consider: What is the gradual road to hell? How does Satan use it? How can the Christian be on guard? The gradual road to hell is the small sins that can separate someone from God without the person even noticing they are drifting away. While many people may believe that the quickest ways into hell are big sins like murder, rape, and stealing, Screwtape seems to think the contrary. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick (60 61). In reality, no sin is greater than another. Satan understands that, though we often do not, and will use that to his advantage. Satan uses the gradual road to hell to enslave the victim often without the victim knowing what is happening. If the Christian knew he was on the steep road down, he would surely notice and turn around. As Screwtape says: As long as he retains externally the habits of a Christian he can still be made to think of himself as one who has adopted a few new friends and amusements but whose spiritual state is much the same as it was three weeks ago. Women had to fight for the right to vote as well as the right to leave their homes and become working citizens. Women have broken many barriers placed on them, but they still haven t broken the glass ceiling. The glass ceiling is the invisible barrier that women, as well as other minorities, face when it comes to equal pay. For every dollar earned by a man, a woman only makes about seventy five cents. This is not in any way a fair. Women work the same job for the same amount of time as men, but they earn less. This is what sexism looks like and there are laws against it, but these laws are not being enforced or taken seriously. The laws against the glass ceiling and sexism in the workplace should be enforced. Before World War 1 women were seen as solely being homemakers. If a woman worked she was frowned upon. • 10. A Study On Renal Cancer Adrianna Dunn Professor Riggs English Composition 1 Due: 11 December 2014 Renal Cancer It is the one word that can send chills and tremors up anyone s back, because in one word alone everything can change. Cancer, a word that in itself holds so many questions, thoughts, fears, and worries. There are over 100 different types of cancer; however all cancers begin because abnormal cells grow out of control. Normal cells follow a pattern: they grow, divide, and die. Cancer cells grow differently than normal cells. Instead of dying, the cells reproduce more abnormal cells. Cancer cells are also very distinct in the fact that they can grow into other tissues, normal cells cannot do this. The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is in every cell, it is what directs all the cell s actions. In normal cells, when DNA gets destroyed the cell either dies or repairs itself; in cancer cells, however, the cell goes on making new cells that the body has no use for. The new cells now have the same abnormal DNA as the first cell. If cancer cells penetrate the blood stream or lymph vessels they can easily spread and attack other areas of the body. Today, hundreds of thousands of people are fighting or have fought cancer. Over one half of all men and one third of all women will develop cancer during their lifetime. It is safe to say that almost every person has been affected by cancer in some way, shape, or form. Cancer in itself is the modern day epidemic much like the black plaque was during its era. ... It is a domestic trade tax that will be levied in the form of a value added tax on all goods and services in practice with some exemptions. A value added tax exempts all inputs including capital goods. Hence, it becomes a general tax on domestic consumption. It is a convenient and economically efficient way of taxing consumption. It is a comprehensive tax regime levied on manufacture, sales and consumption of goods and services. It is expected to bring about 2% incremental GDP growth of the country. The Value Added Tax (VAT) when introduced was considered to be a major improvement over the pre existing Central excise duty at the national level and the sales tax system at the State level. Conditional Cash Transfer ( Cct ) Programmes Essay Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programmes are a form of social protection which provide modest monthly cash transfers to families with children. Cash transfers are conditional on families meeting the minimum requirements of regular school attendance and the use of preventive healthcare services. Although largely praised for their success, CCTs are criticised for using conditionality as a means of achieving the objectives to improve the capital accumulation of those living in abject poverty. Providing direct cash transfers to raise the income levels of the poor are a precursor to long term poverty reduction strategies. Upon looking for the meaning of Assessments on the NAEYC website, I came across several different reasons to way it is important. Assessment is defined as the measurement of what students are learning. Student achievement is defined as how well they ve mastered certain target skills. Assessments provide educators with both objective and subjective data in order to ascertain student progress and skill mastery. No matter what we are doing in the classroom with our students around we are doing some type of assessment. Now NAEYC says. Assessments help teachers plan appropriately challenging curriculum and tailor instruction that responds to each child s strengths and needs. Assessments can also help teachers identify children with disabilities and ensuring that they receive needed services. • 18. Feminism Vs 3rd Wave Feminism 3: The first obvious difference between 2nd and 3rd wave feminism is time: 2nd wave occurred mostly in the 1960s and 1970s, while 3rd wave is generally considered to take place in the 1990s and later. Additionally, 3rd wave focuses more on the individual experience and possible intersectionality, as opposed to 2nd wave, which focused more on women receiving legal rights. Chapter 1 of Women s Studies discusses the advances the 2nd wave movement brought about, particularly in the cases of Roe v. Wade, adding Gender and Women s Studies to a number of colleges and universities, the Equal Pay Act in 1963, Title VII, as well as a commission to enforce these anti discriminatory laws (Shaw and Lee, 7). While this did make a difference in the lives of many women, legal change without societal change (as those who enforce the legal system are still socialized in our culture) can be unproductive. This is where 3rd wave feminism seeks to improve upon their predecessors. While 2nd wave feminism concentrated on collective action and measurable results, 3rd wave focuses on the individual experience, and particularly the experiences of queer women. 2nd wave feminism s goals were more concrete, and so it is easy to imply that their goal was reached, and that women are equal to men. Not only was it a perfect place to station troops to launch further assaults on positions like Singapore and Australia. It was also a resource rich country which would further fuel the Japanese war machine and feed the Japanese people at home. Safari tours that take place in Africa also have similar results, as many tourists who ride in jeeps contribute to the disturbance of food sources, such as game that lions depend on for survival. In Africa, many indigenous peoples such as the Masai in Kenya have lost their land to the ecotourism industry, and have been forced to move elsewhere. • 29. Reflection About Group Presentations We all certainly have to do group presentations during our student life. This method of study is vital, as it is a successful alternative or addition to the traditional term paper. It can balance the student s educational experiences by providing training in oral communication, interpersonal skills, and analytical thinking. (King 1990, p.77). Therefore, it is necessary for us to reflect on what we have done and learnt through group presentations. In this essay, I would have a look back at what I experienced and learnt from the BCM110 group assignment. Our assignment was to work together and do research on a media issue that we studied in the lectures. After four weeks, we had to give a class presentation on what we had researched. Our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, our main issue is Groupthink . Groupthink is defined as the pressure to conform within a group interfering with objective analysis of a problem and causes poor group decision making. (Dwyer 2013, p.221). There was lack of discussion regarding new ideas in our team. No contradictions were often made, and we always reached agreement very quickly because we all seemed want to avoid conflict. For instance, when a member said Powerpoint was simple and time saving than other presentation methods, we all quickly agreed to choose Powerpoint without no further arguments. As a result, our presentation seemed quite boring compared with other groups who created a play. To avoid Groupthink , we can apply the brainstoriming strategy to encourage creativity and diversity of ideas. We should write up all the ideas and generate possible solutions, eliminate duplicate ideas to find the most effective solutions. Regarding my individual performance, I was a responsible member and always actively listened to other members ideas to give constructive feedback. I focused on what other members said and encourage them to express their viewpoint. For example, when we discussed on fandoms, I wanted to talk about Monsters the fanclub of Lady Gaga while Teskana preferred the example of One Direction. The essay will discuss and demonstrate the application of dream analysis as a counselling approach and the personal and technical challenges associated with using the psychoanalytic technique of ‘free association’. This will be done by analysing my own personal dream from a psychoanalytical perspective I will identify and describe two of the techniques used in psychoanalytical therapy: 1. Psychoanalytical Technique of Free Association 2. Dream ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In adults, however, the situation is more complicated as the dreams of adults have been subjected to distortion, with the dream s so called manifest content ,including the remnants of the previous days events or thoughts being a heavily disguised derivative of the latent content, dream thoughts present in the unconscious, consisting of hidden, symbolic and unconscious motives, wishes and fears. The manifest content of a dream is the actual content of the dream, what actually happened during the dream. In contrast, the latent content of the dream is the symbolic meaning of the content of the dream. In order for a counsellor to get to the latent content, the client discusses the dream s manifest content and is encouraged to free associate about the dream. It then becomes the counsellor’s task to decipher the dream s latent content through both defense mechanisms that may be present in the telling of the dream and in the free association about it. There is natural censorship within dreams that will present when a client talks about the dream, and reservations or repressions that the client consciously adds into the dream discussion. Each of the repressions and censors must be overcome, and the counsellor will have to look deep into the content of the discussion to get to the bottom of it. According to Freud the mind contains three distinct and actual areas, which he referred to as the: The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. The Downfall Of The Romanov Dynasty In a burgeoning climate of autocracy, the Romanov dynasty was firmly established in the societal framework of early 20th century Russia. Having been in varying degrees of absolute political control over an approximate time period of four hundred years, their eventual undoing marked a power shift polarising the imperial regime laid out by countless Tsars beforehand. Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia, is recognised to have a degree of personal responsibility for the downfall of the Romanovs, yet the extent to which his decision making skills can be held accountable is questioned by some historians. Despite this, multiple political, social, and military facets of Nicholas II s reign were handled with instability, and his perceived lack of legitimacy due to this poor decision making ultimately was a major causative factor to the downfall of his family s vast dynasty. Various aspects of Nicholas II s political decisions reflected his clear unsuitability for the role of Tsar, and these decisions form a preliminary basis for both his own legacy of incompetency the eventual undoing of the Romanovs. In comparison to rulers preceding, Nicholas was ill prepared for the role: his father, Alexander III, failed to adequately develop his son s understanding of civil state responsibilities before his death in 1894, under the guise that he would live long enough to teach Nicholas of these affairs. Upon his consecration as Tsar, Nicholas spoke in his diary of his apprehensiveness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Meaning Of Good And Evil For the word, evil, there are many different ways in which you could define it. Evil seems to come across to people as killing and torture, and that is right but there is much more to evil than just those two. Ordinary people do not see a random person walking on the street to be evil, but they could be evil or really just a person walking down the street. Thinking of humans in a more psychological way we tend to only see the bad in someone, and not the good they might have. Throughout history, we do not really see a change in how people view the word evil. To some they may cringe and others it might light up their eyes. Although we all can perceive evil differently one thing is for sure, and that is the word good. Everyone sees good as a positive outlook on whatever is around it. People tend to look at good as if we all should have within us somewhere. These two words have completely different meanings and different outlook. Good and Evil also means that we are able to give a better understanding of each because of their differences. Evil tends to have a more lasting impression on you, and not necessarily a good one but one remember what happens more if it is negative. According to Gray and Wegner (2009), they intended to look at the more typecasting, which is the relationship within moral agency and moral patiency (Gray Wegner, 2009). Grey and Wegner (2009), did seven studies with typecasting in order to see a range of different variables, which included a variety of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
