How Technology Helps With The Sales Process And How It Can...
The purpose of this essay is to discuss how technology can assist with the sales process and how it
can develop a trust based relationship between businesses.
Technology plays a very important role in the sales process, as new trends arise such as the use of
mobile applications, social media, database management systems and cloud computing the ability
to store information online and be able to access your data conveniently, everywhere and
anywhere you go as long as you have an internet connection has become the new meta. The
concept of selling has evolved into a many different activities comparatively to just a decade ago.
The successful professional salesperson of today and the future is likely a better listener than a
talker (Thomas N. Ingram, 2011). As mentioned by Thomas, a typical salesperson today are more
focuses in developing long term relationships with their customers rather than the historical
methods such as the short term, heavy selling methodologies. Businesses have moved on, the world
has accepted and adopted the new technology to help improve the sales process. Seller have
become more aware of the customer needs and requirements and are finding new ways to help
satisfy them. There are many selling approaches and are used for different types of selling
situations. Each approach has their own distinctive way of persuading the buyer and can result in
different levels of effectiveness. Using technology can have its benefits and also comes with a cost

Taking a Look at Malaria
Proposed Disease: Malaria
What is malaria?
What exactly is malaria? Malaria is a disease caused by certain mosquitoes passing on parasites
when feeding on people. The most common malaria parasite and is known to be the deadliest is
plasmodium falciparum (figure 1). Once this parasite has enters the body, it takes a few weeks
before it multiply into thousands and infects red blood cells. According to Malaria No More, it is
also known that plasmodium falciparum is carried and transmitted by only female anopheles
mosquito and feed on people between the time of 9pm to 5am (Malaria No More).
According to Malariasymptons.org, once a person is infected with malaria or the parasite
plasmodium falciparum, they will experience fever like sickness. The symptoms include fever,
sweats, shaking chills, headaches, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
(malariasymptoms.org). If malaria is not treated right away, it can lead to serious health issues for
the person who is infected. It may eventually lead to kidney failure, seizures, mental confusion,
coma, bleeding due to blood clots and even death (malaria symptoms.org).
Malaria parasites were first founded in mosquitoes who were reserved in amber and was
approximately 30 million years old. It was known that parasites originated from Africa and from
those who caught the parasites from chimpanzees and gorillas. One of the earliest protections from
malaria were the Egyptians using large amounts of garlic and using bed

Nt1310 Unit 7 Journal Entry
First, I would like to apologize for being late. It was entirely my fault, I had confused the 2:30
NSA presentation as being the one I was supposed to write the report on, and I am truly sorry for
causing you and/or Columbus State as a whole any embarrassment in front of the FBI. When I
arrived, David had just begun about bitcoins and then later moved on into the deep web with a
focus on a website called The Silk Road. From this, I am assuming that what I had missed in the
beginning was related to these two things, meaning that the presentation as a whole focused on
internet activity. To start off with bitcoins, this was the more interesting talk to me and I feel very
lucky to have caught it in time. While I did not learn as much as I did the later part of the... Show

David s explanation helped to clear all this up for me, and while I acknowledge there is much
more to learn, I feel like he has given me a stepping stone to go and understand the rest on my
own. What I gathered from him was that the bitcoins are mined through dedicated systems
working to solve complex math problems. From my past experience I know that these problems
are generated by collecting all pending bitcoin transactions and transforming them into a massive
puzzle. What I did not know was that these puzzles were generated every ten minutes, with the
reward for solving each puzzle being twenty five bitcoins. I found this time based system to be
interesting as I would have expected it to be a transaction based system. For example, every one
hundred transactions, or however many is necessary to maintain balance, would be transformed into
puzzle, instead of it just being however many are collected in ten minutes. I also did not realize just
how competitive bitcoin mining had become. Between the student s comment on his experience
attempting to mine a bitcoin and David s

Throughout this poetry unit, we analyzed numerous pieces of literature. Through looking at
different mediums, we examined how the inventive use of language in poetry boosts
communication and empowers self expression. This gave me a whole new insight on several
notions within our unit.
It made me recognize how poetry is not just a couple of rhyming short lines with a rhythm, but
much more than that. Poetry is a form of self expression; it is a means of imparting one s unique
ideas through conveying their perspective and feelings to the audience. It provokes emotions,
elucidates ideas and delivers a strong, perceptive message in an artistic way. Poems have a common
language, such as dialect, diction and connotation. Each of these devices transmits ... Show more

By merely reading a poem, one can identify the writer s mood, which reveals the self expression
aspect of poetry. When contemplating a poem s structural characteristics, such as style, expressions
and diction, the poet s emotions and condition is easily unravelled. For instance, The Old Familiar
Faces explored a poignant, sorrowful tone with the repetition of tragic expressions throughout. This
helped portray the theme of nostalgia and uncover the poet s condition when writing the poem. This
why I concur with the unit s statement of inquiry as I think it is very fitting of our poetry

The Comparison Of Godot, By James Beckett
There is a vast literature on interpretations of Godot, encompassing Christian and anti Christian
religion, Freudian and Jungian psychology, and a kitchen sinkful of esoteric and obscure isms. The
undeniable fact is that no one really knows what Godot is about, and the playwright himself clearly
believed that the core of his art lay in the ambiguities resulting from the absence of information,
saying that everything he knew about the characters was in the text and if he knew anything more
about the characters then he would have put it in the text. That Godot is more hole than doughnut
has made it an easy target of parody if not outright ridicule. Beckett evolved his unique literary
voice by distinguishing his style from that of his mentor James Joyce, whom he assisted during the
writing of Finnegans Wake. In almost exactly the opposite way, Joyce grounded his art in
fanatically perfectionist control of his work, leaving no missing pieces or rough edges in stuffing
his characters full to overflowing so that we the readers know more about them than they could
possibly know about themselves.
By far the best biography of Beckett, in my opinion, is by James Knowlson of the University of
Reading, whose 20 year friendship with the playwright led to the donation of notebooks,
manuscripts and other archival material that became the world s leading Beckett archive. Knowlson
s title taken from a passage in Beckett s notebooks is Damned to Fame, neatly encapsulating the

My Understanding of Person-Centred Counselling Essay
Write an essay of your own choice, e.g. My understanding of person centred counselling . Relate
and refer to your own life experience and/or your work context.
I am on a life long path as a Skilled Helper (Egan) with some training in Integrative
Psychotherapy. I am currently striving to integrate Carl Rogers ideas and practices into my
existing knowledge framework whilst attempting to see previously identified phenomena through
new eyes. My aim is to use this knowledge to influence my practice as co creator of therapeutic
relationships. My principal aims in this essay are to define some of the basic ideas of Rogers, to
then describe how this links and informs his notions of a joint therapeutic endeavour through his

Rogers seems therefore to be describing an emotional consequence resulting from what the
behaviourist BF Skinner called positive and negative conditioning. He conceptualised
Conditions of Worth as the limited ways in which a person could see him or herself as being
valued. The formulation was also influenced by psychoanalyst Erik Erikson and his ideas of the
early stages of development. Rogers asserted that the child who learns trust and a sense of
personal control are more likely to have a sense of self agency and robustness in the face of later
difficulties. This comes about when conflicts find a successful resolution leaving both parties
emotionally respected and intact. Thus Rogers more developed model of how a child is socially
instructed can encompass concepts such as shame (Psychoanalysis), Modelling (Albert Bandura)
and ideas of Internalization, amongst many others, and as such is more of a meta model of growth
of the personality.
In James case he knew that if he worked hard at school he could gain his fathers approval.
However it seemed that he was in the shadow of his brother, who was also under the same
pressure. He had turned to cheating to get better marks to avoid his father s disapproval. James
own sense of right and wrong were being clouded by his loyalty to and competition with his
brother, also his need for approval from his father and his sense of duty to protect his frail mother

Review Of David M. Greenberg Et Al Divided People And...
Your Choice of Music Can Reveal Your Personality One s taste in music is at the top of the list
when it comes to topics that can cause a heater argument. Musical preferences are sacred to most
people and we tend to divide into small tribes over music, considering the other tribes as less
sophisticated. Interestingly, your music choices are not a random grouping your tribe isn t
determined by where your friends go. Instead, your personality and the music you like are
interlinked, both influencing each other. Three thinking groups and their musical choices A 2015
study by David M. Greenberg et al divided people s thinking into three separate thinking styles: the
empathizers, the systemizers and the balanced. Each thinking style tended to favor different type of
music, allowing the researchers to predict what music the person likes simply by understanding
their thinking style. Empathizers feel connected to others, they have strong emotions and they base
their decision making often on emotional values. On the other hand, systemizers think more
rationally. They are calm and composed in their decision making. As you might suspect, the
balanced thinkers are a mixture of both these styles. First, the empathizers were shown to prefer
mellow music low energy, sad emotions and emotional depth. The people in this group were
therefore associating with genres such as soft rock, indie music and R B. For the systemizers, this
type of music wasn t appealing. They were looking for a

English Comp II Class Analysis
January of 2017 I started taking an English Comp II class. I was very hesitant about it because I
knew I wasn t so good in writing. Coming into the class with a little bit of knowledge was good
but I still am not a good writer or where I should be at this point. All the assignments the teacher
give is kind of complicated for me because i just can t come up with ideas to help me start and get
through my paper. I wish i could focus better and be able to write papers.
Starting off the semester we had little writing prompts to get up going. I remember the first one was
writing the Lord s Pray. I do believe that was so difficult for me to do because i keep getting it
mixed up with other bible verses even tho i know it very well. It shocked me that ... Show more

My opinion was basically stating that I liked the fact that i would be increasing my ability to write.
I didn t like that i m not able to write essays and paragraphs of that matter off the top of my head
like i use to be able to do. Later in the semester i would like to look back on this experience and say
I got past this experience with no problem.
For the past couple of weeks we have been getting ideas and articles for our research paper.
Finding a topic for a research paper is kind of difficult but it gets your mind going. I love
researching about things I don t know about and getting more information so maybe one day I can
tell some one else about it. Research papers take a lot of time and effort so you can t wait until the
last minute to do it.
Picking a topic based on your major can be a good thing but it can also be a bad thing. For
example; my major is nursing but i want to be a traveling nurse, you really can not find much about
traveling nurses and the patients. You can find a lot about registered nurses, LPNs, and nursing
assistants. You have to dig really deep so you can find something interesting enough to talk about

Health Services Management Personal Statement
Management as it relates to the health services realm requires a deep understanding of
coordinating the delivery of healthcare. One must be able to utilize frameworks to recognize and
develop solutions to challenges within managing healthcare. My desire to become a health services
manager (HSM) spawns directly from this concept of identifying an issue and being able to present
interventions and approaches to improve the overall quality of life for communities.
Over the past two years I ve been able to oversee several individuals as a coordinator at the

ER Diagrams and Databases
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, people have been trying to make their life easier
using machines. This has led to huge technological breakthroughs that brought about computers,
cars, airplanes etc. Nowadays computers are widely used to perform various tasks on users behalf.
Another people s passion since ancient times is to store and preserve information for the
generations to come (libraries, archives). During the 1960 s people s desire to store and retrieve
information was combined with the opportunities that computers offered to create the first
computerized database. This turned out to be a milestone in the way people manage information. It
offered many advantages: Data can be organised easy; it takes up very little physical space; users
can search the data for specific information; The Database can be shared between different users; it
can be accessed remotely etc. Due to these advantages, the new modern way of collecting data
gradually replaced paper Databases. It became a much more cost effective way for organisations
and companies to store their data. Currently, computer databases are being used everywhere:
Facebook, online stores such as Amazon and eBay, airports, hospitals, government institutions etc.
Even the libraries that are considered to be old fashioned have stored their information
electronically.
However, databases have to meet some challenges. Nowadays, the purpose of databases is to serve
the demands of large scale companies. These

Power Corrupts In 1984 By George Orwell
Imagine living in a world with a dictator. You have numerous rules set in place where you can t
do certain things that may be normal to us in common life . You re tired of these rules, and start
going against them, this is 1984. In the story 1984 by George Orwell the theme is, power
corrupts. Winston hated Big Brother (the ruler of Oceania). He wanted everything about him to
be gone, including his followers, his rules, and the Inner Party in general. Winston was brought
to Room 101 (a room used to torture whoever using his or her greatest fear), and was forced to
change his mind about Big Brother, and ended up loving him. A claim you can make from 1984
by George Orwell, is that power corrupts, or being strong willed, or determined can withstand
strong power. In the text it states, He loved Big Brother. This is at the end of the text showing it
took Winston some time to really get controlled. He had hated Big Brother with all of his power,
and even broke laws or rules because he didn t like them! He has stated many times how he
despises Big Brother, as shown, A sort of vapid eagerness flitted across Winston s face at the
mention of Big Brother. This proves even when someone just brings up the name Big Brother he
gets upset, or has negative feelings towards him, Big Brother is someone that Winston hates even
when the smallest mention of him. This is changed at the end of the story because of torture from
O Brien, someone who Winston trusted. O brien got close to Winston

Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
Introduction
James Joyce (1882 1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most
influential writers in the modernist avant garde of the early 20th century. In his early twenties he
emigrated permanently to continental Europe, living in Trieste, Paris and Zurich. James Joyce is
now known as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. Even during his time, he was
respected as one of the best writers of his generation. Still, his works were so experimental that he
was not read by the general public and was often misunderstood even by his contemporary writers.
His writing became more and more hard on readers. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man often
confuses readers who are not used to experimentation in form, but Ulysses and Finnegan s Wake are
rarely read in their entirely even by people trained in such experimentation. ... Show more content

The reader will notice that the names of Joyce s schools are used in his novel. The streets of
Dublin are named as Stephen walks along them. Joyce s family s fortunes are represented in
generally the same way that Joyce experienced them in his life. It is a novel, not an
autobiography, but the line between those two genre is a thin one. It is therefore tempting to see
all that Stephen thinks about art as Joyce s own view of art. However, readers will sense Joyce,
the writer s ironic distance from Stephen, the fictional figure of the artist. A Portrait of the Artist as
a Young Man is an example of a Bildungsroman, a German term describing a story of the education
and intellectual growth of a young man. A story of an artist s development from childhood through

Angela Davis And The Civil Rights Movement
Angela Davis is one of the most influential women when it comes to feminism, race, politics, to
just name a few. She has paved the way for many generations of women to have a voice when they
once wouldn t. It is essential to realize that one can t discuss feminism and black power without
discussing Angela Davis. The reason I chose Angela Davis is because she is a household name that
I have always heard, but had never known much of. I think it s deeply important to understand the
impact she s had on the feminist movement, specifically for women of color.

( Davis, Angela 1944 .) In her early years she was exposed to activism through her mother, Sallye
Davis, she was involved with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP), at a time in which it was very dangerous to do so. Her mother was also heavily
involved with the Communist Party, she was involved in the civil right s movement and was an
organizer for the Southern Negro Congress. Since she grew up around such a heavy influence of
Communist ideals, Davis developed a mindset geared towards equal rights at a very young age.
Davis views started coming through in her academics at a very young age as well, in high school
Davis did everything she could to start to an interracial study group, the group was harassed, and
then disbanded by the police. Eventually Davis would go onto start herself a legacy that is greatly
inspired by her mother. She would join the Black Panther Party after a horrible tragedy.
In 1963, four black girls were killed in a bombing of a church, the bombing took place in her
hometown and it became known as the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing. This sparked a
passion in Davis for philosophy because she was personally affected by the bombing, she knew two
of the people killed in it. As a result of this tragedy she joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee and then the Black Panther Party.

Informative Essay On Margaret Sanger
Margaret Sanger, a militant determined to push her cause and see her dreams fulfilled. I admire
her for her will and determination to pass what she believed was right; fighting the people keeping
her down. She believed in birth control and the idea women control their own bodies. Her target
groups might have been considered racist , but she pushed to help women. I believe in birth control
and cutting out unwanted pregnancies. Women deserve to choose if they want to be a mother or
not. Birth control is right to use if you have been raped, not mentally capable of being a mother
and not have the control to be a mother. Every child born should be wanted and not just here; no
child deserves to be abused or mistreated.
Margaret Sanger was an early feminist and women s rights activist who coined the term birth
control and worked towards its legalization (bibliography, 2014). Ms. Sanger was born to Anne

The issue is whether or not Donald acted lawfully in his actions of shooting the hijackers.
Donald did act lawfully due to the fact that he acted in private defence. Private defence is

Cady s mother reacts to her father leaving. While it is unfortunate that we can not know how she
feels, we see her approach to the situation. Cady says how she wants to fall and die, her mother
seems perfectly fine. Cady s mother pretends that everything is fine. She goes out and buys new
things to fill up the items Cady s father took with him. She refuses to let other see how much Cady

Factors Contribute Toward Increasing Job Satisfaction And
factors contribute toward increasing job satisfaction and motivating an employee into a higher
performance. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory:
This theory follows a category of needs that need to be fulfilled for an individual to feel satisfied.
Maslow s categorizes them in a hierarchical order where there are low tier needs that are basic and
have to be fulfilled in order to satisfy the upper tier needs that are more important. This aspect
explains the motivation theory as one is determined to satisfy the low tier needs and motivated to
satisfy the upper and luxurious needs. These five needs are as follow (Jerome, 2013):
Physiological needs: these are the basic for needs amenities of life such as air, food, water, and ...

Expectancy Theory:
Vroom s expectancy theory is different from the content theories of Maslow and Herzberg.
Expectancy theory is based on a result of conscious choices among alternatives that reflects
individual distinction in performance motivation (Lunenburg, 2011). it further states that there are a
relationships between the effort put at a work and the result of their performance from that effort
such as rewards. expectancy is the estimate of the performance level expected in relation to the
effort put. It ranges between 0 and 1. Valence on the other hand is the strength either positive or
negative of an employee s preference towards a promised reward. It ranges from 1 to +1. When this
is factored in instrumentality; the estimate that a certain performance causes varying work
outcomes, the formula for motivation is obtained. Motivation = Expectancy x Instrumentality x
Valence
(Including the 4 assumptions of the expectancy theory) (Lunenburg, 2011)
The expectancy theory however, has its own methods of employee motivation. Effort to
performance expectancy encourages leaders to increase their faith in employees that they will
complete the job. Increasing training, hiring qualified employees, providing enough time and
suggesting improvements to the tasks promote effort to performance expectancy. Performance to
reward expectancy encourages employers to

The Performance Of An Organization
Introduction
The performance of an organization is dependent on the decision made within the organization and
beyond. In recent months, the United States has seen the enactment of several Executive Orders by
the newly elected President Donald Trump. The impact that these orders possess is far reaching
with the possibility of influencing the salary systems.
Executive Order
President Donald Trump s Executive Order on Immigration is one that has elicited mixed reactions
with many people taking part in street protests and online campaigns against the president and his
leadership style. Primarily, the executive order provides that people from other countries are
welcome into the country, but after thorough vetting. The executive order goes ... Show more

It is apparent that different parts of the organization have and require different types of resources.
The company takes active steps towards aligning these resources with the set company objectives.
The second step involves empowering the employees through refined objectives that align with the
work force and the performance expectations (Martocchio, 2013). The third step involves
developing a performance based reward system. This is followed by the development of a real time
information system that monitors employee performance and compares the performance against
the organization s objectives (Martocchio, 2013). Moreover, the organization optimizes its link by
employing analytics to identify areas that can be improved upon.
Steps and Means of Connecting Pay for Performance
Linking pay to performance involves twelve critical steps. The first step involves succinctly
defining the organization s strategic objective. The second step involves establishing the structure
and size of the resources in the organization. Thirdly, the resources are then linked to the objectives
and budgets. Fourthly, the objectives are shared with the workforce while the fifth step involves
aligning the workforce with the work. The sixth step entails setting production quotas for
employees while the seventh and eighth step involves performance review and competencies and
training respectively (Martocchio, 2013). The ninth step

The Layer Of The Skin
Stratum Corneum this layer is the outer most layers; it is formed from numerous layers of
compressed scale like, overlapping cells. What makes up the surface of the skin is corneocytes,
which are commonly called dead skin cells . Keratinocytes are found in the epidermis they travel up
through the layer where they are formed into corneocytes. The stratum corneum layer protects
against lights, chemicals, water loss, heat and bacteria.
Stratum Lucidum is an additional layer of the skin, found only in the palms of our hands and the
soles of our feet; it is a very shallow layer of just 3 clear layers of cells. Eledin is found in this layer,
a protein rich clear gel like substance that helps give us strength, grip and also protection.
Stratum Granulosum is another shallow layer; it is made up 3 to 5 layers of flat packed grainy
cells called kertaohylain cells which act similar to a water filter, to absorb any foreign bodies. This
eases water loss and keeps up hydration in the skin.
Stratum Spinosum is formed from two to six rows of stretched cells; they have spiky spines that
attach to nearby cells. In this layer there are two other key cells Langerhans cells and melanocyte
cells. Langerhans capture and process any foreign bodies, they are then distributed to the lymph
vessels followed by white blood cells, resulting the immune system activating. Melanocyte cells
create melanin produces skin pigment to our skin, by ultraviolent rays. The primary function is to

Oskar Schindler Argumentative Essay
Over 11 million people died in the holocaust, and more than 7 million of them were Jewish.
Oskar Schindler was an entrepreneur who sacrificed himself for a cause he believed was unjust.
He spent most of his life around Germany in Europe. During the Holocaust, he saved over 1,200
people from the gas chambers. There are some people who don t think of him as a hero, but as a
man looking to make an easy dollar. In my opinion Oskar Schindlerwas a hero of the highest class
and deserves all the credit he received for his actions. When Oskar was born in 1908, no one could
ve guessed he would have such an impact on the world.
When Oskar was a young boy, he adored his father and strived to be like him. His Father and
Mother were both German, even though he was born in Zwittau, Hungary. His Father, Johann,
owned a farm machinery business that Oskar eventually worked at. He had one sister, named
Elfriede, who was seven years younger than him. After Oskar attended primary and secondary
school, he enrolled in a technical school. He was expelled from the school in 1924 for forging
his report card. After later graduating from a different school, he worked for his father for several
years. In 1928, he married his lifelong friend Emilie and he immediately stopped working for his
father but started looking for more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The one problem with that theory is that Schindler all though very profitable spent nearly all of
his profits bribing Nazi officers so they would let his Jews live. Oskar nearly went broke from

Branding For Dollar Shave Club
Branding Dollar Shave Club uses branding in order to develop an identity and sell its products.
Branding for Dollar Shave Club relies on a logo and the firm s overall identity. Dollar Shave Club
uses a simplistic logo and builds brand identity through its projection of the company as a cheaper
and more convenient alternative to larger razor brands. Dollar Shave Club s brandname helps
consumers identify the brand in a sea of razor brands dominated by companies like Gillette,
Schick, Bic, and others. Dollar Shave Club s brand name is able to attract consumers by
appealing to potential consumers who may value price. Dollar Shave Club is also the only
brand of razor the uses its brand name to reference the prices of its razor cartridges. Competing
brands like Gillette are able to use their brand name to attract consumers who value a brand that
is established and has been in control of the market for consistent period of time, but those brand
names can also lead a manufacturer to charge razor cartridges at a premium. Dollar Shave Club s
name plays a key role in establishing the company s brand identity. Dollar Shave Club uses its
brand name to build a strong brand identity. Dollar Shave Club consistently tries to identify itself
as the value oriented alternative to more expensive razor brands. In order to develop brand loyalty,
Dollar Shave Club also establishes a brand identity that is meant to echo the concerns of its
customers. By referring to their own razor as

state of Texas (1). However, until recently, Texas was the only state with a woman veteran
population over 50,000 that did not have a long range plan to address and examine the specific
needs of women veterans. In January 2015, State Representative Ana Hernandez (D) from
District 143, filed House Bill 867 (HB 867) in an effort to change that. HB 867 would

Performance Enhancing Drugs For Professional Sports
Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds. What do all of these legendary
baseball players have in common? They are some of the all time homerun leaders in the history of
Major League Baseball. They also have another thing in common, which is how they all got onto
the career home runs list, through the use of performance enhancing drugs. The debate on whether
or not performance enhancing substances should be allowed in professional sportshas been going on
for years, decades even. Many believe that using steroids and other performance enhancers should
automatically disqualify an athlete from ever being able to be a member of the Hall of Fame, in
sports in general, not just in Major League Baseball. However, there is an argument to be made to
make the use of performance enhancing drugs legal in all of professional sports. Performance
enhancing drugs should remain illegal in professional sports because they provide an unfair
advantage, they are extremely unethical, and they can also be dangerous to athletes.
One of the biggest reasons I believe performance enhancing drugs should be illegal in sports is due
to the obvious and completely unfair advantage they provide to athletes. One of the fundamental
pillars of success in professional sports is the fact that athletes have achieved what they have by
strictly working hard, using sheer God given talent, instead of taking an obscene amount of pills
and substances. Furthermore, no matter how you put it, using

Power Behind Knowledge
Knowledge is an important part of everyone s lives; the human nature to gain more over the years
has been an evolutionary process that has shifted over time. Knowledge tends to lead a person in
search of more information. Curiosity and thirst for knowledge is present within everyone and
varies based on the urges of the individual; the user has the ultimate power for the use of the
information. The information gained by an individual must be used with careful considerations of
the consequences it holds. The word itself has an impact to our nation that can alter the initial
meaning altogether. Over the course of history, knowledge has an impact on the political and social

This word also contains synonyms that are archaic, such as wot, ween, and tow (Chapman ed.).
The various origins of this word, with a similar context over time, exemplify the depth of history
present in knowledge.
In addition, the historical concept of knowledge can be traced back to ancient times. The
concept of knowledge is a powerful idea that helps the world to exist in serenity. Without this
concept, an individual cannot develop his or skills while reflecting on the previous actions.
Knowledge helps an individual obtain astounding goals, while it can also be his or her demise.
The power behind knowledge is evident through the course of the history of the word. The
information obtained by knowledge can be used according to the intentions of the individual. The
books of the Bible state that knowledge can be used for good or evil depending on the individual.
Knowledge comes with understanding the wisdom presented by God. The Bible states, one must
not eat from the tree of knowledge...when you eat from it you will certainly die (Genesis 2:17). The
innate curiosity present within man can lead him to seek the knowledge that will eventually destroy
him. The ability to look into the history of the concept of this word allows society to gain more
knowledge about our current understanding. There must be a balance upon the knowledge that an
individual seeks, due to the harm of obtaining too much

Introduction
Renaissance is a French term meaning rebirth or revival. Renaissance period in the history of
Europe starts from the beginning of 15th century to the end of 16th century. The Renaissance
manifested the transitional phase from the medieval ages to the modern era. It was a time of social
and cultural changes in Europe. It is believed to be the beginning of the modern world and hence
the new phase of the political system arrived. Along with society and culture, politics also changed.

During the period of renaissance, both these political institutions have developed from the medieval
roots, but both failed to get transformed completely into a modern system. Regardless of the fact
that Church and state had mutually strong ties with each other, but popes and rulers struggled with
each other for being in command of the administration of church and material lands. Therefore,
some historians portrayed this period as a significant one for politics while some think this age as
meaningless and abandoning the whole concept.
Also, during the renaissance stage, kings, dukes, earls and other nobles dominated the political
field but as the feudal system began to collapse; these titles stared losing their influence. This
shaped the beginning of varying unbalanced surroundings which promoted rapid development in
all areas. This stage was subjugated by confrontations and wars not for the sake of winning
territories but for the sake of protests, to satisfy the upper class thirst for war. The downfall of the
Roman Empire and the influence and authority of the papacy was consequential with the increase
in independence and self reliance of city states in most of the Europe.
For monarchies and oligarchies, the revival transformations in the fashions of art, over and above
the attitude of artists, required affluent clientele to maintain and endorse it, and Italy was in

Critical Analysis Of Symphonie Fantastique
During the Romanic period, there were many advances in regards to instrumentation, and the size
of a typical orchestra increased in size and range, adding in more instruments to the wind, brass and
percussion sections. Symphonie Fantastique, by Hector Berlioz, was no exception, and was written
for an extensive orchestraof 220 players, including, piccolos, flutes, oboes, horns, clarinets,
bassoons, cornets, trumpets, trombones, tuba (or ophicleides), timpani, bells, a wide variety of
percussion, bells, violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Through this symphony, various
instruments have programmatic purposes to develop the scene, such as the pizzicato strings in the
4th movement, representing the head bouncing after he was decapitated, and the clarinet in E flat
and bassoons in the 5th movement, depicting bubbles rising in a cauldron.
Both movements 4 and 5 were through composed, featuring various musical fragments and themes.
Movement 4 features two key themes in addition to the idГ©e fixe, whilst Movement 5 centred
around 3 musical themes; the Beloved (Harriet), the Great Shout, and the Fearsome Crowd. An
idГ©e fixe is a melodic fragment that returns throughout, and in Symphonie Fantastique, it
references the Beloved, Harriet, and varies in rhythm, tempo, metre, instrumentation and harmony

Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Moral
Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Moral
The central concept of Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of
Morals is the categorical imperative. The conception of an objective principle, in so far as it is
obligatory for a will, is called a command (of reason), and the formula of the command is called an
Imperative. (Abbott, 30) An imperative is something that a will ought or shall do because the will
is obligated to act in the manner in which it conforms with moral law. The categorical imperative is
an obligation by the will to act so that the action can be classified as a universal law. When one
acts in conformity with the universal law at all times, they are following out the categorical ... Show

The action of killing oneself would cause pain, which is not in conformity to the maxim stated to
avoid pain. The second example Kant gives is based on the basic premise of lying. A man is
forced to borrow money which he knows he will never be able to repay but he promises to do so
anyway. This action is not consistent with duty and the maxim could be expressed as: When I [the
man] think myself in want of money, I will borrow money and promise to repay it, although I know
that
I never can do so. (Abbott, 39) The maxim cannot hold as a universal law because if everyone
lied about promises, the promise itself would become impossible, and the end would be
unattainable. Telling the truth is an end in itself. The third example is of a man who it bestowed
a natural ability but does not use it to it s full extent. Kant sees this as not a categorical
imperative because a rational being necessarily wills that he develop his skills for many possible
reasons. Rational beings are an end in themselves, and if you do not better yourself, you are not
serving yourself.(Abbott, 40) Lastly, the fourth man, in great prosperity, has a chance to help
others in need and does not. This can be viewed as a workable universal law, but it cannot be willed
as the good thing to do

Security Analysis of an Electronic Voting System
Abstract
Fundamental right to vote or simply voting in elections forms the basis of democracy. Electronic
Voting Machine (EVM) is a simple electronic device used to record votes in place of ballot papers
and boxes which were used earlier in conventional voting system .With significant U.S. federal
funds we now have replaced the outdated punch card and mechanical voting systems, and are
adopting paperless electronic voting systems from a number of different vendors. My analysis
shows that this voting system is below the minimal security standards. Threats of computer viruses
or hacker orchestrated attacks are most commonly mentioned as problems that could compromise
an election and public confidence in electronic voting. Other potential technical problems or issues
include power outages or malfunctions in Internet connectivity as well as the possibility of servers
shutting down or crashing. The reliable recording and storage of votes is also an important
consideration, I conclude that this voting system is unsuitable for use in a general election. Any
paperless electronic voting system might suffer similar flaws, despite any certification it could
have otherwise received. I suggest that the best solutions are voting systems having a voter
verifiable audit trail, where a computerized voting system might print a paper ballot that can be
read and verified

The Response Of The Sciatic Nerve
The study of the response of the sciatic nerve and the neuromuscular to the Rana pipens was
constructed by the Comparative Animal Physiology lab manual for both the nerve compound
action potential (Lab five) and the neuromuscular junction (Lab six) (Norris, et al.,2016). In order to
analyze the responses of the sciatic nerve and the gastrocnemius of a Rana pipens, one exercise was
selected from Lab five and five exercises were selected from Lab six. Both lab five and Lab six had
a study length of three weeks to be performed. Therefore, the first experiment focused on the nerve
compound action potentials, while the second experiment focus on the neuromuscular junction. In
the first experiment, the only exercise analyzed (Exercise one), was the determination of the
threshold voltage and the relationship between stimulus intensity and compound action
potentials(CAP). On the second experiment, five exercises were analyzed, these experiments
focused on the stimulus intensity and strength of contraction, the effect of stretch on contractile
force, the effect of paired pulses on contraction force(summation), muscletetanus, and muscle and

The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs....
There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many
different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the
college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a
professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want
to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these
players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely
different because you enter the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after
the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between
the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get
only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing
but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the
NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get
fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called One and one . It s where you
shoot one free throwand make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don t
get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketballresults in the double bonus where you will be
allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one.

and encouraged him to write as much as possible. Despite similarities in their lives both homes
were very different. Poe live in a financially stable house but with a parent who was emotionally
detached, and did not support his desire for writing. King lived in a home that was financially
unstable, but received support from his mother. His desire to write, and his mother s support led
him to accomplish many great things. King s writing started from a very early age. a He
submitted hundreds of stories to different publications in the genres of horror. King received his
college education at the University of Maine in Orono. He lacked the finances to pay for his
education so he worked a fulltime job to order to pay his tuition. By the time he reached college
he had several writings published and was becoming very serious about it. He remained focused

exists between Poe and King ;one lacked a strong emotional foundation in his youth and went on to

way. As formal reading instruction for many students commences in the foundation year of school,
it is the role of the educator to model and explain the key components of literacy to students.
Research on effective readinginstruction suggests that students benefit when they learn concepts of
print, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension (National Reading
Panel, 2000). Moreover, reading instruction needs to be supported by effective teaching strategies
that include modelled reading aloud, shared book reading, guided... Show more content on

Through a balanced approach, educators make decisions on individual student s literacy needs and
select appropriate instructional activities with the goal of developing, value, comprehension, and
enjoyment of reading (Cowan, as cited in National Education Psychological Service [NEPS],
2015, p. 8). However, research concludes there is no definitive description of what a balanced
approach to literacy means and they all have similar elements. To put it another way, effective
educators of reading instruction offer a print rich balanced reading program that incorporates
explicit and systematic instructions in concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency,
vocabulary, and comprehension. These reading skills develop as educators model and scaffold
engaging activities, for instance, read aloud s, shared, guided, and independent reading, rhymes, and
songs. These activities are the underpinnings of a successful literacy program (Winch, Johnston,
March, Ljungdahl, Holliday, 2006, p. 155). A balanced reading approach also provides students
opportunities to repeat and practice skills as educators observe and assess student s abilities.
Therefore, educators must explicitly instruct literacy skills from foundation to year twelve because
they are essential to academic growth.
Explicit teaching is a systematic and carefully planned approach that effectively teaches students
the key skills of literacy.

The Importance Of Becoming A Professional Baseball Player
I have learned that if you get knocked down you always find a way to get back up
I started baseball when I was about six years old. I loved the game. I also remember telling my dad
when I grow up I m going to be a professional baseball player. He always responded with it takes a
lot to become a good baseball player but it takes even more to understand the game. Almost every
day after school I would sprint up the hill next to our house and plow through the door then beg
my dad to play baseball with me. We would be in the back yard for hours upon hours throwing
and catching. We would play whiffle ball for about an hour and then as soon as my dad hit a home
run I would get really angry with my dad, the reason for this is because I have always

Inclusion and Autism in Main Stream Schools
Apart or A Part?
Inclusion and Autism in Main Stream Primary Settings.
The number of pupils with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) being educated in mainstream
settings is increasing (Humphrey 2008). Inclusion in main stream education can be extremely
beneficial for pupils on the autism spectrum (Great Britain. Department for Children, Schools and
families, 2009), however there is growing concern about the educational experiences of pupils with
ASC. Only 12% of parents with children in an unsupported mainstream primary school are very
satisfied (Barnard et al 2000).
Almost half of the schools staff where pupils with ASC attend feel that a significant number of the
pupils are not getting the specialist support they need and over ... Show more content on

De Santos and Daly (2008) suggest that parents considered inclusion to be of upmost importance
and that inclusion can work and is happening, however there are still occasions whereby inclusion
is not working and could be improved.
Parents perceived that inclusion offered the best outcomes for children with ASC with realistic
experiences of preparation to live more independently as adults, allow autism to become more
widely recognised, enables children to feel part of a peer group and wider community, inspires
confidence and happiness reducing anxieties and offers fuller opportunities to better education
experiences (Charman, 2011., Wittemeyer, 2012., De santos and Daly, 2008.,Barnard et al, 2000).
When parents were asked what kind of school they would ideally like their children with ASC to
attend neither special, resource bases or mainstream took preference (Batten et al, 2006).
Despite some high profile Inclusion debate relating to the type of setting in which children with
ASC should be educated , it is expertise in autism that is important to parents (Batten et al, 2006).
The continuing trend to greater inclusion is welcomed in principle by teachers. It is widely agreed
by teachers that to exclude certain children from main stream social and academic education can
not only be harmful to the future outcomes of those

King Leopold s Ghost Sparknotes
King Leopold s Ghost tells the narrative of the struggles experienced by those in the Congo
following the discovery of rubber and the privatized funds of a King Leopold of Belgium.
Recounted by Adam Hochschild, a lecturer at the University of California Berkeley s School of
Journalism, it gives light to the stomach turning truths of imperialism. King Leopold s Ghost
falls to critics in some aspects, as highlighted in a review by Lysle Meyer. Meyer, works for the
African Studies and has written a book regarding this specific subject. The novel, which
successfully exposes the horror of King Leopold s rubber empire in Congo, lacks sources as
well as contains simplistic prose that can seem dull at times. Meyer s review of the novel agrees
that the book is well informative; however, Meyer also states that without due sourcing the book
falls short of expectations for the average historian. One can easily agree with this point, as there
is quite obviously no footnotes. Meyer makes this point stating . . . the publisher has eschewed
footnotes, presumably in deference to the average reader s reputed aversion to them. ( Review 2 ).

Hochschild wrote of a particularly interesting topic, one that seems to be perused by most
historians. It is very clear that he gets off topic in an attempt to foreshadow, but it ends up making
the writing long and hard to follow. This deducts from his aim to the average reader, as a student
will likely find the writing monotonous. Even at one point, Hochschild relates But that is getting
ahead of our story (KLG 165). This makes the writing unorganized, as he goes off track multiple
times instead of narrating the story. He makes points without going back to consider relevancy, and
fails to make the connections students or the average learner might

Marcus Rosner In The Film, When Calls The Heart
Once in awhile, a dashing and debonair actor who performs with such precision and heart comes
along, and pure magic happens on the screen each time he appears. And in the case of Marcus
Rosner, all of that happens and more. The only downside has been is that from some of his
earliest appearances with Hallmark in When Calls the Heart to his more recent works in Summer
of Dreams, he NEVER get the girl and always departs the film with all his money intact, but none
of the integrity and dignity that he possesses in his everyday life. I had the pleasure of
interviewing Marcus again within this past week, and he gave a few hints regarding his upcoming
works. In fact, just maybe the tables are about to turn for his upcoming characters. Hearties can
only hope.

We have the most successful vineyard in the valley, and our competing wine family is Rachael
Leigh Cook s family. And so in our family, there s me, Brendan Penny, and then our youngest
brother is played by Nathaniel Middleton. The movie sort of alludes to a Romeo and Juliet kind
of thing where there s two competing families, and then the favorite son and the favorite
daughter in each family have this sort of forbidden love and then ultimately bring both families
together. That s basically the plot line, and they re incredible Brendan Penny and Rachael Leigh
Cook. I m actually looking forward to this one. I think their chemistry is fantastic from the clips
that I ve seen so far. I think it s going to do really well. I think people will respond to it primarily
because of their chemistry. And then Rachael Leigh Cook s best friend is being played by a
wonderful actress named Ali Liebert, who s actually a good friend of mine. She plays my love
interest, and we sort of may or may not wind up

Radiologic Encephalitis Research Paper
Diagnosis and management Clinical syndromes are never pathognomonic for a paraneoplastic
aetiology and a high index of clinical suspicion is important. Symptoms can be atypical,
psychiatric or even fluctuating and PNS should often be in the differential diagnosis of otherwise
unexplained severe neurological syndromes. Radiologic findings are especially important to rule
out other possible causes; in case of PNS they often render aspecific findings. As an exception,
CT and MRI reveal temporal lobe abnormalities in 65 80% of patients with limbic encephalitis
(LE)(Dalmau and Rosenfeld 2008) and often some degree of cerebellar atrophy is seen in the
chronic stage of predominantly cerebellar syndromes. In patients suffering from paraneoplastic
cerebellar degeneration (PCD),... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of overlapping syndromes in separate antibodies, paraneoplastic antibodies should be
searched for by screening rather than by focusing on a specific antibody. Unfortunately, not all
patients with paraneoplastic syndromes have identifiable antibodies in their serum. Once a
paraneoplastic etiology is strongly suspected, a careful search for the underlying neoplasm is
mandatory. If detailed history taking, thorough physical examination and high resolution computed
tomography (CT) of chest, abdomen and pelvis do not show a primary tumor, whole body
positron emission tomography (PET) or PET/CT may be the best screening method for locating
the occult cancer(Patel et al. 2008). Besides, the type of antibody and paraneoplastic syndrome
may suggest a specific underlying tumor and indicate more directed diagnostic tests, such as
mammography (or MRI) when breast cancer is suspected. With positive antibody screening and
strong suspicion of paraneoplastic disease, negative tumor search should be repeated at 3 6 months
intervals for 2 3

The Tale Of Genji By Murasaki Shikibu
Literature is a form of communication that demonstrates ideas. Literature can be anything that is
written such as, poetry, stories, letters...etc. Communities around the world practice different
traditions and the people within those communities live a particular lifestyle that depends on their
social habits, religion, and their native language For example, Japan is notorious for its
unprecedented culture and traditions that have been conserved by the Japanese people for
thousands of years. Japanese natives execute these particular attributes and values that have evolved
from classical literature. One aspect that has had great impact and influence on Japanese customs
and ideals is Literature.
Japanese literature represents many cultures and traditions that have been cultivated in Japan. For
example, the Tale of Genji was written early in the eleventh century by Murasaki Shikibu and is
considered the world s first novel. The Tale of Genji was an important book at the time because it
was the first novel ever written and was a prominent tale among the Heian court. The novel
illustrates the rise of Prince Genji , as the son of a minor consort of the emperor, to a higher
stature in society. The Tale of Genji symbolized the preeminent values and moral principles that
society admired and honored during the Heian Period. Life during the Heian Period was nothing
short of remarkable. Society accepted and embraced certain regimes that were established and
enforced by the

Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews Essay
Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews
Before I started reading the book Hardball, by Chris Matthews, I had a preconceived idea of
what the content of this book would be. From the title of the book I drew the conclusion that
Matthews would write more about the darker side of politics and how it is really played. I don t
really know much about politics, and frankly, I don t care much for politics. However, when I
hear the word hardball in the context of politics, I think of blood shed. I think of dirty tricks and
blackmail and money changing hands in dark places. I even think of the mafia to some degree
when I hear the word hardball. Perhaps my notion of hardball was a bit more than what Chris
Matthews describes in his book. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The content of this book is best described on page 17 where Matthews describes speaking to a
congressman in the Democratic cloakroom about writing the book. Quietly, I confided to one of
the members that I was writing a book about the rules of politics, including all the tricks I had
overheard in the off the record hideaways like this. He look at me, a crease of pain crossing his
forehead, and said with dead seriousness, Why do you want to go and give them away? By
describing the concern of this individual, Matthews conveys to the reader that he s actually going to
give detailed accounts of how politicians operate in Washington. The congressman is concerned
about what the public would think if they had detailed knowledge of how politicians operate, and
that s actually the most compelling reason for reading this book.
Matthews relates a myriad of examples of how some of today s most successful politicians rose
to the top. The successful politicians are those who learned how to play hardball. They learnt
that there were other people besides themselves on the playing field and that when you throw
ball in the game of politics, someone is going to be on the other side to catch it and throw it
back, and you must be ready for it. This is perhaps most evident in the section of the book called
Enemies, where Matthews describes the rule of power: Keep your enemies in front of you, as
President Reagan did by appointing James A. Baker his first White

  • 2. How Technology Helps With The Sales Process And How It Can... The purpose of this essay is to discuss how technology can assist with the sales process and how it can develop a trust based relationship between businesses. Technology plays a very important role in the sales process, as new trends arise such as the use of mobile applications, social media, database management systems and cloud computing the ability to store information online and be able to access your data conveniently, everywhere and anywhere you go as long as you have an internet connection has become the new meta. The concept of selling has evolved into a many different activities comparatively to just a decade ago. The successful professional salesperson of today and the future is likely a better listener than a talker (Thomas N. Ingram, 2011). As mentioned by Thomas, a typical salesperson today are more focuses in developing long term relationships with their customers rather than the historical methods such as the short term, heavy selling methodologies. Businesses have moved on, the world has accepted and adopted the new technology to help improve the sales process. Seller have become more aware of the customer needs and requirements and are finding new ways to help satisfy them. There are many selling approaches and are used for different types of selling situations. Each approach has their own distinctive way of persuading the buyer and can result in different levels of effectiveness. Using technology can have its benefits and also comes with a cost that can ... • 3. Taking a Look at Malaria Proposed Disease: Malaria What is malaria? What exactly is malaria? Malaria is a disease caused by certain mosquitoes passing on parasites when feeding on people. The most common malaria parasite and is known to be the deadliest is plasmodium falciparum (figure 1). Once this parasite has enters the body, it takes a few weeks before it multiply into thousands and infects red blood cells. According to Malaria No More, it is also known that plasmodium falciparum is carried and transmitted by only female anopheles mosquito and feed on people between the time of 9pm to 5am (Malaria No More). According to Malariasymptons.org, once a person is infected with malaria or the parasite plasmodium falciparum, they will experience fever like sickness. The symptoms include fever, sweats, shaking chills, headaches, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea (malariasymptoms.org). If malaria is not treated right away, it can lead to serious health issues for the person who is infected. It may eventually lead to kidney failure, seizures, mental confusion, coma, bleeding due to blood clots and even death (malaria symptoms.org). Malaria parasites were first founded in mosquitoes who were reserved in amber and was approximately 30 million years old. It was known that parasites originated from Africa and from those who caught the parasites from chimpanzees and gorillas. One of the earliest protections from malaria were the Egyptians using large amounts of garlic and using bed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nt1310 Unit 7 Journal Entry First, I would like to apologize for being late. It was entirely my fault, I had confused the 2:30 NSA presentation as being the one I was supposed to write the report on, and I am truly sorry for causing you and/or Columbus State as a whole any embarrassment in front of the FBI. When I arrived, David had just begun about bitcoins and then later moved on into the deep web with a focus on a website called The Silk Road. From this, I am assuming that what I had missed in the beginning was related to these two things, meaning that the presentation as a whole focused on internet activity. To start off with bitcoins, this was the more interesting talk to me and I feel very lucky to have caught it in time. While I did not learn as much as I did the later part of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... David s explanation helped to clear all this up for me, and while I acknowledge there is much more to learn, I feel like he has given me a stepping stone to go and understand the rest on my own. What I gathered from him was that the bitcoins are mined through dedicated systems working to solve complex math problems. From my past experience I know that these problems are generated by collecting all pending bitcoin transactions and transforming them into a massive puzzle. What I did not know was that these puzzles were generated every ten minutes, with the reward for solving each puzzle being twenty five bitcoins. I found this time based system to be interesting as I would have expected it to be a transaction based system. For example, every one hundred transactions, or however many is necessary to maintain balance, would be transformed into puzzle, instead of it just being however many are collected in ten minutes. I also did not realize just how competitive bitcoin mining had become. Between the student s comment on his experience attempting to mine a bitcoin and David s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mannequin Challenge News Report Throughout this poetry unit, we analyzed numerous pieces of literature. Through looking at different mediums, we examined how the inventive use of language in poetry boosts communication and empowers self expression. This gave me a whole new insight on several notions within our unit. It made me recognize how poetry is not just a couple of rhyming short lines with a rhythm, but much more than that. Poetry is a form of self expression; it is a means of imparting one s unique ideas through conveying their perspective and feelings to the audience. It provokes emotions, elucidates ideas and delivers a strong, perceptive message in an artistic way. Poems have a common language, such as dialect, diction and connotation. Each of these devices transmits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By merely reading a poem, one can identify the writer s mood, which reveals the self expression aspect of poetry. When contemplating a poem s structural characteristics, such as style, expressions and diction, the poet s emotions and condition is easily unravelled. For instance, The Old Familiar Faces explored a poignant, sorrowful tone with the repetition of tragic expressions throughout. This helped portray the theme of nostalgia and uncover the poet s condition when writing the poem. This why I concur with the unit s statement of inquiry as I think it is very fitting of our poetry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Comparison Of Godot, By James Beckett There is a vast literature on interpretations of Godot, encompassing Christian and anti Christian religion, Freudian and Jungian psychology, and a kitchen sinkful of esoteric and obscure isms. The undeniable fact is that no one really knows what Godot is about, and the playwright himself clearly believed that the core of his art lay in the ambiguities resulting from the absence of information, saying that everything he knew about the characters was in the text and if he knew anything more about the characters then he would have put it in the text. That Godot is more hole than doughnut has made it an easy target of parody if not outright ridicule. Beckett evolved his unique literary voice by distinguishing his style from that of his mentor James Joyce, whom he assisted during the writing of Finnegans Wake. In almost exactly the opposite way, Joyce grounded his art in fanatically perfectionist control of his work, leaving no missing pieces or rough edges in stuffing his characters full to overflowing so that we the readers know more about them than they could possibly know about themselves. By far the best biography of Beckett, in my opinion, is by James Knowlson of the University of Reading, whose 20 year friendship with the playwright led to the donation of notebooks, manuscripts and other archival material that became the world s leading Beckett archive. Knowlson s title taken from a passage in Beckett s notebooks is Damned to Fame, neatly encapsulating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He conceptualised Conditions of Worth as the limited ways in which a person could see him or herself as being valued. The formulation was also influenced by psychoanalyst Erik Erikson and his ideas of the early stages of development. Rogers asserted that the child who learns trust and a sense of personal control are more likely to have a sense of self agency and robustness in the face of later difficulties. This comes about when conflicts find a successful resolution leaving both parties emotionally respected and intact. Thus Rogers more developed model of how a child is socially instructed can encompass concepts such as shame (Psychoanalysis), Modelling (Albert Bandura) and ideas of Internalization, amongst many others, and as such is more of a meta model of growth of the personality. In James case he knew that if he worked hard at school he could gain his fathers approval. However it seemed that he was in the shadow of his brother, who was also under the same pressure. He had turned to cheating to get better marks to avoid his father s disapproval. Your Choice of Music Can Reveal Your Personality One s taste in music is at the top of the list when it comes to topics that can cause a heater argument. Musical preferences are sacred to most people and we tend to divide into small tribes over music, considering the other tribes as less sophisticated. Interestingly, your music choices are not a random grouping your tribe isn t determined by where your friends go. Instead, your personality and the music you like are interlinked, both influencing each other. Three thinking groups and their musical choices A 2015 study by David M. Greenberg et al divided people s thinking into three separate thinking styles: the empathizers, the systemizers and the balanced. Each thinking style tended to favor different type of music, allowing the researchers to predict what music the person likes simply by understanding their thinking style. Empathizers feel connected to others, they have strong emotions and they base their decision making often on emotional values. On the other hand, systemizers think more rationally. They are calm and composed in their decision making. As you might suspect, the balanced thinkers are a mixture of both these styles. First, the empathizers were shown to prefer mellow music low energy, sad emotions and emotional depth. The people in this group were therefore associating with genres such as soft rock, indie music and R B. For the systemizers, this type of music wasn t appealing. They were looking for a ... • 12. ER Diagrams and Databases Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, people have been trying to make their life easier using machines. This has led to huge technological breakthroughs that brought about computers, cars, airplanes etc. Nowadays computers are widely used to perform various tasks on users behalf. Another people s passion since ancient times is to store and preserve information for the generations to come (libraries, archives). During the 1960 s people s desire to store and retrieve information was combined with the opportunities that computers offered to create the first computerized database. This turned out to be a milestone in the way people manage information. It offered many advantages: Data can be organised easy; it takes up very little physical space; users can search the data for specific information; The Database can be shared between different users; it can be accessed remotely etc. Due to these advantages, the new modern way of collecting data gradually replaced paper Databases. It became a much more cost effective way for organisations and companies to store their data. Currently, computer databases are being used everywhere: Facebook, online stores such as Amazon and eBay, airports, hospitals, government institutions etc. Even the libraries that are considered to be old fashioned have stored their information electronically. • 13. Power Corrupts In 1984 By George Orwell Imagine living in a world with a dictator. You have numerous rules set in place where you can t do certain things that may be normal to us in common life . You re tired of these rules, and start going against them, this is 1984. In the story 1984 by George Orwell the theme is, power corrupts. Winston hated Big Brother (the ruler of Oceania). He wanted everything about him to be gone, including his followers, his rules, and the Inner Party in general. Winston was brought to Room 101 (a room used to torture whoever using his or her greatest fear), and was forced to change his mind about Big Brother, and ended up loving him. A claim you can make from 1984 by George Orwell, is that power corrupts, or being strong willed, or determined can withstand strong power. In the text it states, He loved Big Brother. This is at the end of the text showing it took Winston some time to really get controlled. He had hated Big Brother with all of his power, and even broke laws or rules because he didn t like them! He has stated many times how he despises Big Brother, as shown, A sort of vapid eagerness flitted across Winston s face at the mention of Big Brother. This proves even when someone just brings up the name Big Brother he gets upset, or has negative feelings towards him, Big Brother is someone that Winston hates even when the smallest mention of him. This is changed at the end of the story because of torture from O Brien, someone who Winston trusted. O brien got close to Winston ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce Introduction James Joyce (1882 1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most influential writers in the modernist avant garde of the early 20th century. In his early twenties he emigrated permanently to continental Europe, living in Trieste, Paris and Zurich. James Joyce is now known as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. Even during his time, he was respected as one of the best writers of his generation. Still, his works were so experimental that he was not read by the general public and was often misunderstood even by his contemporary writers. His writing became more and more hard on readers. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man often confuses readers who are not used to experimentation in form, but Ulysses and Finnegan s Wake are rarely read in their entirely even by people trained in such experimentation. ... She has paved the way for many generations of women to have a voice when they once wouldn t. It is essential to realize that one can t discuss feminism and black power without discussing Angela Davis. The reason I chose Angela Davis is because she is a household name that I have always heard, but had never known much of. I think it s deeply important to understand the impact she s had on the feminist movement, specifically for women of color. In her early years she was exposed to activism through her mother, Sallye Davis, she was involved with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), at a time in which it was very dangerous to do so. Her mother was also heavily involved with the Communist Party, she was involved in the civil right s movement and was an organizer for the Southern Negro Congress. Since she grew up around such a heavy influence of Communist ideals, Davis developed a mindset geared towards equal rights at a very young age. Davis views started coming through in her academics at a very young age as well, in high school Davis did everything she could to start to an interracial study group, the group was harassed, and then disbanded by the police. Eventually Davis would go onto start herself a legacy that is greatly inspired by her mother. She would join the Black Panther Party after a horrible tragedy. In 1963, four black girls were killed in a bombing of a church, the bombing took place in her hometown and it became known as the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing. This sparked a passion in Davis for philosophy because she was personally affected by the bombing, she knew two of the people killed in it. • 17. Informative Essay On Margaret Sanger Margaret Sanger, a militant determined to push her cause and see her dreams fulfilled. I admire her for her will and determination to pass what she believed was right; fighting the people keeping her down. She believed in birth control and the idea women control their own bodies. Her target groups might have been considered racist , but she pushed to help women. I believe in birth control and cutting out unwanted pregnancies. Women deserve to choose if they want to be a mother or not. Birth control is right to use if you have been raped, not mentally capable of being a mother and not have the control to be a mother. Every child born should be wanted and not just here; no child deserves to be abused or mistreated. Margaret Sanger was an early feminist and women s rights activist who coined the term birth control and worked towards its legalization (bibliography, 2014). The action of killing oneself would cause pain, which is not in conformity to the maxim stated to avoid pain. The second example Kant gives is based on the basic premise of lying. A man is forced to borrow money which he knows he will never be able to repay but he promises to do so anyway. This action is not consistent with duty and the maxim could be expressed as: When I [the man] think myself in want of money, I will borrow money and promise to repay it, although I know that I never can do so. (Abbott, 39) The maxim cannot hold as a universal law because if everyone lied about promises, the promise itself would become impossible, and the end would be unattainable. Telling the truth is an end in itself. The third example is of a man who it bestowed a natural ability but does not use it to it s full extent. Kant sees this as not a categorical imperative because a rational being necessarily wills that he develop his skills for many possible reasons. Rational beings are an end in themselves, and if you do not better yourself, you are not serving yourself.(Abbott, 40) Lastly, the fourth man, in great prosperity, has a chance to help others in need and does not. Threats of computer viruses or hacker orchestrated attacks are most commonly mentioned as problems that could compromise an election and public confidence in electronic voting. Other potential technical problems or issues include power outages or malfunctions in Internet connectivity as well as the possibility of servers shutting down or crashing. The reliable recording and storage of votes is also an important consideration, I conclude that this voting system is unsuitable for use in a general election. • 38. The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs.... There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throwand make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketballresults in the double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1947 he was born to Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King. His mother single handedly took care of both king and his brother while moving about the country following their father who was not apart of their lives. Unlike Poe s guardian Ms.King was always supportive of her son s writing career, and encouraged him to write as much as possible. Despite similarities in their lives both homes were very different. Poe live in a financially stable house but with a parent who was emotionally detached, and did not support his desire for writing. King lived in a home that was financially unstable, but received support from his mother. His desire to write, and his mother s support led him to accomplish many great things. King s writing started from a very early age. a He submitted hundreds of stories to different publications in the genres of horror. King received his college education at the University of Maine in Orono. He lacked the finances to pay for his education so he worked a fulltime job to order to pay his tuition. By the time he reached college he had several writings published and was becoming very serious about it. He remained focused in college and blossomed as a writer in the experience. Perhaps this is where the core difference exists between Poe and King ;one lacked a strong emotional foundation in his youth and went on to make disastrous choices, consequently keeping him out of reach of success within his lifetime. ... [See Fig. 4.1.] III.ELEMENTS OF THE ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT Economic analysis often begins by examining a country s gross national income, (GNI) i.e., the monetary value of the total flow of goods and services within its economy. Gross National Income Gross national income (GNI) measures the income generated both by total domestic production plus the international production activities of national firms, i.e., it is the market value of all final goods and services newly produced by a country s domestically owned firms in a given year. Gross domestic product (GDP) measures the value of production generated by both domestic and foreign owned firms within a nation s borders in a given year. • 41. The Competency Of The Educator Students who are taught key skills and strategies in reading instruction often develop into more proficient readers than those who are not provided with these skills in an explicit and systematic way. As formal reading instruction for many students commences in the foundation year of school, it is the role of the educator to model and explain the key components of literacy to students. Research on effective readinginstruction suggests that students benefit when they learn concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension (National Reading Panel, 2000). Moreover, reading instruction needs to be supported by effective teaching strategies that include modelled reading aloud, shared book reading, guided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through a balanced approach, educators make decisions on individual student s literacy needs and select appropriate instructional activities with the goal of developing, value, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading (Cowan, as cited in National Education Psychological Service [NEPS], 2015, p. 8). However, research concludes there is no definitive description of what a balanced approach to literacy means and they all have similar elements. To put it another way, effective educators of reading instruction offer a print rich balanced reading program that incorporates explicit and systematic instructions in concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. These reading skills develop as educators model and scaffold engaging activities, for instance, read aloud s, shared, guided, and independent reading, rhymes, and songs. These activities are the underpinnings of a successful literacy program (Winch, Johnston, March, Ljungdahl, Holliday, 2006, p. 155). A balanced reading approach also provides students opportunities to repeat and practice skills as educators observe and assess student s abilities. Therefore, educators must explicitly instruct literacy skills from foundation to year twelve because they are essential to academic growth. Explicit teaching is a systematic and carefully planned approach that effectively teaches students the key skills of literacy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I loved the game. I also remember telling my dad when I grow up I m going to be a professional baseball player. He always responded with it takes a lot to become a good baseball player but it takes even more to understand the game. Almost every day after school I would sprint up the hill next to our house and plow through the door then beg my dad to play baseball with me. We would be in the back yard for hours upon hours throwing and catching. We would play whiffle ball for about an hour and then as soon as my dad hit a home run I would get really angry with my dad, the reason for this is because I have always ... The number of pupils with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) being educated in mainstream settings is increasing (Humphrey 2008). Inclusion in main stream education can be extremely beneficial for pupils on the autism spectrum (Great Britain. Department for Children, Schools and families, 2009), however there is growing concern about the educational experiences of pupils with ASC. Only 12% of parents with children in an unsupported mainstream primary school are very satisfied (Barnard et al 2000). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... De Santos and Daly (2008) suggest that parents considered inclusion to be of upmost importance and that inclusion can work and is happening, however there are still occasions whereby inclusion is not working and could be improved. Parents perceived that inclusion offered the best outcomes for children with ASC with realistic experiences of preparation to live more independently as adults, allow autism to become more widely recognised, enables children to feel part of a peer group and wider community, inspires confidence and happiness reducing anxieties and offers fuller opportunities to better education experiences (Charman, 2011., Wittemeyer, 2012., De santos and Daly, 2008.,Barnard et al, 2000). When parents were asked what kind of school they would ideally like their children with ASC to attend neither special, resource bases or mainstream took preference (Batten et al, 2006). Despite some high profile Inclusion debate relating to the type of setting in which children with ASC should be educated , it is expertise in autism that is important to parents (Batten et al, 2006). The continuing trend to greater inclusion is welcomed in principle by teachers. It is widely agreed by teachers that to exclude certain children from main stream social and academic education can not only be harmful to the future outcomes of those ... • 44. King Leopold s Ghost Sparknotes King Leopold s Ghost tells the narrative of the struggles experienced by those in the Congo following the discovery of rubber and the privatized funds of a King Leopold of Belgium. Recounted by Adam Hochschild, a lecturer at the University of California Berkeley s School of Journalism, it gives light to the stomach turning truths of imperialism. King Leopold s Ghost falls to critics in some aspects, as highlighted in a review by Lysle Meyer. Meyer, works for the African Studies and has written a book regarding this specific subject. The novel, which successfully exposes the horror of King Leopold s rubber empire in Congo, lacks sources as well as contains simplistic prose that can seem dull at times. Meyer s review of the novel agrees that the book is well informative; however, Meyer also states that without due sourcing the book falls short of expectations for the average historian. One can easily agree with this point, as there is quite obviously no footnotes. Meyer makes this point stating . . . the publisher has eschewed footnotes, presumably in deference to the average reader s reputed aversion to them. ( Review 2 ). In an attempt to... • 46. Radiologic Encephalitis Research Paper Diagnosis and management Clinical syndromes are never pathognomonic for a paraneoplastic aetiology and a high index of clinical suspicion is important. Symptoms can be atypical, psychiatric or even fluctuating and PNS should often be in the differential diagnosis of otherwise unexplained severe neurological syndromes. Radiologic findings are especially important to rule out other possible causes; in case of PNS they often render aspecific findings. As an exception, CT and MRI reveal temporal lobe abnormalities in 65 80% of patients with limbic encephalitis (LE)(Dalmau and Rosenfeld 2008) and often some degree of cerebellar atrophy is seen in the chronic stage of predominantly cerebellar syndromes. If detailed history taking, thorough physical examination and high resolution computed tomography (CT) of chest, abdomen and pelvis do not show a primary tumor, whole body positron emission tomography (PET) or PET/CT may be the best screening method for locating the occult cancer(Patel et al. 2008). Besides, the type of antibody and paraneoplastic syndrome may suggest a specific underlying tumor and indicate more directed diagnostic tests, such as mammography (or MRI) when breast cancer is suspected. • 48. Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews Essay Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews Before I started reading the book Hardball, by Chris Matthews, I had a preconceived idea of what the content of this book would be. From the title of the book I drew the conclusion that Matthews would write more about the darker side of politics and how it is really played. I don t really know much about politics, and frankly, I don t care much for politics. However, when I hear the word hardball in the context of politics, I think of blood shed. I think of dirty tricks and blackmail and money changing hands in dark places. I even think of the mafia to some degree when I hear the word hardball. Perhaps my notion of hardball was a bit more than what Chris Matthews describes in his book. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The content of this book is best described on page 17 where Matthews describes speaking to a congressman in the Democratic cloakroom about writing the book. Quietly, I confided to one of the members that I was writing a book about the rules of politics, including all the tricks I had overheard in the off the record hideaways like this. He look at me, a crease of pain crossing his forehead, and said with dead seriousness, Why do you want to go and give them away? By describing the concern of this individual, Matthews conveys to the reader that he s actually going to give detailed accounts of how politicians operate in Washington. The congressman is concerned about what the public would think if they had detailed knowledge of how politicians operate, and that s actually the most compelling reason for reading this book. Matthews relates a myriad of examples of how some of today s most successful politicians rose to the top. The successful politicians are those who learned how to play hardball. They learnt that there were other people besides themselves on the playing field and that when you throw ball in the game of politics, someone is going to be on the other side to catch it and throw it back, and you must be ready for it. This is perhaps most evident in the section of the book called Enemies, where Matthews describes the rule of power: Keep your enemies in front of you, as President Reagan did by appointing James A.
