Similarities Between Brian Turner And Things Fall Apart
The destruction of the tribe of Umuofia and the death of the innocent civilians in the Iraq War,
are caused by individuals, or a group of people, who impose their will on the hopeless. In the
poem 2000 lbs. by Brian Turner and the story Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, people and
cultures are destroyed and obliterated for no justified reason. 2000 lbs. is a story that describes
one moment in Iraq, where a taxi bomb blows up and shows the point of view of people that are
around the bomb that are being impacted. The story Things Fall Aparttakes place in Africa near the
Niger River, and is told as a story that is passed down through his heritage about the cultural clash
of the invading Europeans and the native Africans. Both stories have... Show more content on

In the two readings, repetition of death and destruction are constantly mentioned, which gives
us a sense that the characters can never get rid of the vicious cycle of violence. An ordinary day
was turned into a nightmare when a man strolling down the street happened to ride his bike past
a taxi loaded with a bomb, ... an instant / of clarity, just before each of them shatters / under the
detonation s wave, / as if even the idea of them were being destroyed, (Turner 602). The
detonation is a thing that takes away from his innocence and makes us believe that he was
hopeless in trying to escape from the wave of destruction. The unmasking and killing of the
egwugwu provokes the Mother of the Spirits, sending her howling throughout the village which is
compared to being the very soul of the tribe [weeping] for a great evil that was coming its own
death (Achebe 187). This foreshadows the inevitable destruction that can directly impact the groups
of people as well as the imposement used to make them lose their ideals and beliefs and instead
replace them with the conquering

Insurance Analysis in Kenya
Introduction
Insurance in Kenya is known to have been in existence for over sixty years now with the first
insurance companies believed to have been owned by British insurers during the colonial times.
The industry is governed by the Insurance Act and regulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) was created by the Insurance (Amendment) Act of 2006
and came into operation on 1st May 2007.
The Authority was established with the mandate of regulating, supervising and developing the
insurance industry. Before the establishment of IRA, these functions were performed by the
Department of Insurance in the Ministry of Finance. (IRA 2010)
As per AKI Insurance Industry Report for the year 2009, there ... Show more content on

Medical insurance is divided into three segments, one health cover operated by employers, the

about clients who view cover value as expensive as opposed to the benefits. That s why insurers

poor health infrastructure in the country, rural hospitals have inadequate facilities and are

to the rise in health insurance cost. Many insurers have shied away from HIV AIDs insurance
because of the risks involved.

Summary Of Suburban Poverty In America
According to Elizabeth Kneebone, author of Confronting Suburban Poverty in America , the
growth of suburban poverty is partly due to the dark economic situations that forced people beneath
the line and by migration. She added that most low wage jobs in America are in the suburbs, and
that people mistakenly believe that more services are offered in the suburbs than in the cities.
Looking at the fast growing poor population in the suburbs, this phenomenon has become a
community situation where anyone is susceptible of. Furthermore, it indicates that there needs to
be a synergistic, universal change to better the situation (the government and organizations should
change as well). Even if I had been working in a position that was considered... Show more content

The film informs that in the mid 1900 s, America was able to reduce poverty by half with private
organizations and charity, various government programs, and effort. Governmental aid such as food
stamps, James was able to finally start again and get employed. And it is absolutely the government
s responsibility in doing so, because it exists and functions to promote the general welfare of the
country, which includes the poor. The American Dream suggests that every citizen of the United
States should be granted equal opportunity in bringing about achievements and affluence through
intelligence, hard work, and perseverance. However, I ve seen many people who work extremely
hard and yet are having trouble going above the poverty line. I almost think that the idea of an
American Dream is perhaps an ideal, not something that is achievable anymore. Each story unites as
they suggest that hope is crucially needed and wanted by the people under the line, whether it
comes from government aid, communities, or ministers. And with the sources of encouragement,
people should be learned that being poor is not their entity, but is only part of what they

Adolescent Soldiers
Al Qaeda. AK 47s. Anarchy. Adolescent soldiers. These concepts are just a few that surface when
contemplating problems in the Middle East. Yet the present plight of half of its people is largely
pushed under the rug; in third world countries, women dismissed as inferior are denied the right to
learn. This prevailing attitude that females are subordinate, second rate humans prevents millions
of women from receiving an education. Eradicating this inequality by promoting schooling for girls
will improve family life, the economy, and the communities of numerous nations which is why this
problem must be addressed immediately. While car bombs, drone attacks, and government coups

For instance, if schools are available, daughters can rely on education not acquired husbands to
support themselves, thereby decreasing the frequency of child brides. Also, if girls are
encouraged to learn, they will be exposed to information about contraceptives effectively
delaying pregnancy until reaching maturity and financial stability. Among married Egyptians,
those lacking education married at 18 on average, and bore their firstborn by 20; those with a
secondary or higher education wedded at an older average age of 23, and had their first child at
25 (Roudi Fahimi Moghadam, 2003). Not only will a smaller, wealthier population ease burdened
economies, but health costs also drop with the rise in female instruction. Children born to literate
mothers are 50% more likely to survive past five than children with illiterate mothers (2011).
Besides reducing child mortality, cases of HIV decline if women attend school. A study in Uganda
revealed that every year of education reduces girls chances of HIV by 6.7%; knowledge about
how the disease is transmitted forewarns females about potential dangers before becoming infected
(2011). Just imagine the thousands of graves, tombstones carved with loving daughter , and caring
mother , that won t exist because women were presented information to avoid contracting HIV.
Even disregarding all the spared innocents, there are massive economic benefits of teaching
females such as the increase in women s earning potential and job opportunities. Only a year of
primary school elevates women s wages by 10 20%, secondary education results in a 15 25% gain
(2011). In turn, with more mothers, sisters, and daughters working above slave pay alongside men

What Role Does Matter Play In Making Social Worlds Secure
What role does matter play in making social worlds secure or insecure? Illustrate your answer with
reference to any two chapters from Security: Sociology and Social Worlds
Within the natural world security is very fundamental to survival and living things gravitate
towards it. Basic needs such as air, food, water, disease avoidance and shelter from the elements
are vital. Within the social world like the natural it forms the basis to which people and society can
function well, and explains why security is of primary concern through all spheres of said society.
This assignment seeks to look at the role matter plays in making social worlds secure or insecure.
This will be done by uncovering that which is often taken for granted about the role materiality
plays in the social world through theories, concepts and examples of security in various settings
such as the individual, the home, the city and other parts of society.
Matter is often defined as mass that can be physically observed by the senses, it can be measured
scientifically and is tangible , it could be said the material world unlike aspects of social worlds
is less abstract and easier to define, for example a building which comprises of bricks, wood,
metal and other materials built into a specific shape compared to a community which can relate to
people of the same place or shared values or interests or all. That is not to say that matter just is, it
too can have agency and varying meanings dependent upon the

Coconut Oil s Effect On The GI Tracts
Coconut oil s Effect on the GI Tracts of Dogs
Coconut oil has been used in human nutrition and medicine for centuries. Each of the benefits
which can be applied to humans also hold true for most animals as well. In the discussion to
follow, the benefits of coconut oil on the GI tract, focusing on weight control, will be discussed.
The findings for this article opened a larger realization of the many benefits coconut water hold as
well. Coconut oil happens to be a medium chain triglyceride which is composed of saturated fatty
acids. Medium chain triglycerides have been found to contain many benefits which trump over the
long chain triglycerides which are more commonly consumed.
Medium chain triglycerides are occasionally found to be overall healthier than its longer relative
due to the most basic attribute: length. The shorter the chain the easier it is absorbed in the GI
tract and can be metabolized more easily and become readily available to its ... Show more content

Since coconut oil happens to be a medium chain triglyceride, it will not be stored in the body as fat
which triggers the bodies thermogenesis response, burning fat. A canine which may be falling in

triglycerides have also been found to suppress mammalian appetite. This can also aid in weight
control decreasing the caloric intake of the animal (Ward Dean, 16).
While another aid in lowering weight in a dog may be tackling the bad bacteria in a canine s GI

Chicken Bone Dissection: Structure of Bone
The skeletal system is made up of cartilage and bone. Both bone and cartilage are connective
tissues, that is, they are composed of cells in a matrix with intracellular fibers. Just imagine
connective tissue as a gelatin salad with grapes and coconut. The grapes would represent cells, the
gelatin the support material for matrix, and the pieces of coconut the intracellular fibers. By
changing the amounts of each ingredient and adding extra substances, we can produce a material
that is very hard like bone and can withstand weight or softer like cartilage which can be used as a
cushioning material. In this exercise, we will examine a fresh raw chicken bone to study bone ...

How does spongy bone differ from compact bone? What differences did you see in the appearance
of the spongy bone and compact bone? What color was the spongy bone?
Compact bone forms the outer layer of the bone and spongy bone is surrounded by the compact
bone. On close examination, the compact bone had thin lines of closely packed materials
making it hard to compress, while the spongy bone appeared like a network and was soft to touch.
This is because spongy bone are made up of thin cells (trabeculae) separated by spaces (lacunae).
For color difference, compact bone is cream colored while spongy bone is reddish in color.
2.How does cartilage differ from bone? How did each one feel when pierced with the knife?
Based on color, the cartilage was whitish in color while the bone was cream colored. The
cartilage was relatively more flexible than the bone. On composition, bone is made up of calcium
while cartilage is made up of hyaline materials. Upon piercing with a knife, the bone is resistant
to piercing. On application of more force, it cracks and breaks unevenly as compared to the
cartilage that is less resistant to piercing and was cut clean through upon application of a relatively

domestic beer does. Imports are differentiated by taste and packaging. Small brewers offer a
superpremium product that is not very differentiated. The main differences can be attributed to the
brewing process, price, and packaging. Scale economies is high among national companies due
to their large size. Their ability to distribute fixed costs is easily done because of the large
volume that is produced. Their is also economies of scale in product extension and brand
proliferation. Regional companies have moderate economies of scale. Regionals do not produce
as much as larger natioanal companies but, they can still spread some of there costs over their
moderate volumes. Local brewers have low economies of scale. Production is so small that it is
very difficult to distribute costs. A local brewer cannot spread the cost of advertising over their
product without having to raise the price of their product considerably. Capacity utilization in the
U.S. Beer industry is between 75% and 85%. The beer industry is suffering from overcapacity.
Despite this, a few companies are still expanding while others are closing down some operations.

Relations between women in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Theme: Relations between women in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Thesis: Relationships between women in the nineteenth century America created a web of love and
support for women. Mothers and daughters, sisters and friends from childhood formed emotional
and sometimes physical bonds that lasted lifetimes. These ties were acknowledged and easily
accepted in their societies.
Many women survived unthinkable hardships such as geographical isolation, child birth, and loss
of children because of the unconditional love found in their relations with other women.

The Timeless Quality of the Foundations of Excellent...
Foundations of Excellent Leadership Are Timeless
Introduction
It is often said that a manager is what one does and leader is who one is. This is especially the
case during times of turbulent economic, social and political change. In the debate of whether the
effectiveness of a leader s communication skills is dependent on their age or generation, one must
take into account one of the most critical skills in any leaders skill set, and that is emotional
intelligence (EI) (Avolio, Yammarino, 2002). Great leadershipis timeless as it is predicated on
respect and motivation of subordinates and peers and subordinates, along with a very clear focus
on results attained through shared vision. It is the intent of this analysis to show that
transformational leadership is timeliness because it is predicated on principles applicable to each
generation. The impact of technology on leadership is to accelerate transparency and trust across
entire organizations when transformational leaders are driving progress to shared goals and
objectives (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Technology will amplify excellent leadership and shine a very
bright light on mediocre and inferior leadership over time (Gilley, Dixon, Gilley, 2008).
Analysis Of Transformational Leadership Across Generations
The core, foundational elements of transformational leadership are more predicated on Emotional
Intelligence (EI), charisma, communication and collaboration capacity than any topically driven or
short term attribute

How Cool Is Interpreted By Black Jazz
This essay will identify and examine what cool is and the ways in which the notion of cool is
interpreted, reflected and exploited in the entertainment business. Each of these areas will be
addressed individually. The early meanings of cool were described primarily as anti caring, pro
drug and anti authority. The notion of cool originates from a slang used by black jazz musicians
and within the last 30 years; the term cool has evolved towards a subculture and the concept of
cool is mainly related to today s youth culture (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013, p. 323). It is used to
identify something as up to date, stylish or innovative. Thus, based on a persons emotions or
feelings about objects or ideas and if we relate it to people, cool becomes more ephemeral; a
status of sorts (Hamley 2014). Researchers discovered that the dominant perception of coolness
is revolving around social desirability and generic semi gentrified traits (Nye 2012). The notion
of cool is frequently changing and it is not developed by a personality trait, more a group
perception (Gerber 2012). The term cool is often used in marketing to young consumers. Their
buying behaviours can affect the success or failure of a new business (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013,
p. 326). Businesses often express autonomy through advertising headlines and slogans: Stereosonic
( Summer is coming ), Apple ( Think Different ) and Disneyland ( The happiest place on earth )
because young consumers have a desire to enhance

The United States of America had a very great leader during the years of 1933 1945. This man led
our country and achieved many accomplishments and had many outstanding outcomes before and
throughout his Presidency. I will address who Franklin D. Roosevelt was and his well known

Franklin D. Roosevelt was born on January 30th, 1882 in Hyde Park, New York to James and Sara

important events in the DC universe, wiping out all previous events, then allowing the comic

DC Comics pulled off this big stunt? They were able to completely trash all of their current work

Parasites In The Stories Of Franz Kafka
Franz Kafka was born to a middle class Jewish family that was plagued with tragedy because of
the Nazi s reign of terror during World War II. Living during this extremely parasitic period in
history, the theme would become the basis throughout the stories of Kafka. A parasite is defined
by The Merriam Webster Dictionary as something that resembles a biological parasite in
dependence on something else for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return.
When reading the definition of parasite, one who has read any one of Kafka s stories could most
likely attribute parasitism as a central theme in the stories.
Kafka had a very difficult relationship with his parents, more so his father than his mother. His
father had an authoritative personality that often controlled the Kafka home. His father had an
impact on the characters traits in his [Kafka s] writing. That being said, his characters usually
had overbearing power. These individuals, or sometimes parasites, could break the will of men
and destroy their sense of self worth. His mother was a stay at home mother who did not have the
intellectual experience to understand her son s dreams of becoming a writer. She was a parasite
to Kafka himself. His family was the major theme generator in his writings. He used his family and
events in his early life to establish a rather unknown theme of parasites in his writings. Franz Kafka
had, metaphorically speaking, parasites ruling his life. His father was a parasite

WhatВґs Neonatal Jaundice
Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants
will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong
Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to
prevent acute bilirubinencephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus
(American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of
unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after
discharge home will now be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an
infant before discharge from the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment
of risk factors. Therefore, if the TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will
have an idea about the infants risk for developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit
and can guide the need for laboratory evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware
of major risk factors for the development of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the
first 24 hours of life, blood group incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of
phototherapy, cephalohematoma or significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian
race (AAP, 2004).
Recommendations for laboratory evaluation with a TB include every infant who is jaundiced in the

Gospel Of Mark Reason
The Gospel of Mark Three Reasons to Study The Gospel of Mark written by John Mark around
mid to late 60 s is the shortest yet possibly the most interesting of all four Gospels. It contains the
narrative history, sermons, and parables of Jesus Christ in just sixteen quick chapters. And
according to some instructors and authors it also has the most miracles of Christ within its pages.
Three reasons for a student of the Bible to consider studying, not just reading the Gospel of Mark is
one, the key word in Mark is Immediately which is used frequently causing the reader to move
from one account to the next rapidly.
Two, unlike Luke and Matthew who begin their accounts of the Gospel with the events surrounding

We read in Mark 1:22 that They were astonished at his teachings, they were all amazed, Mark
1:27; they were utterly astounded Mark 6:51; the disciples were amazed at his words, Mark 10:24.
The Bible student can take the example from our Lord who came here with purpose, to save the lost.
The purpose of the Gospel of Mark is to show that our Lord Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son
of God who was sent to suffer and to serve in order to rescue and restore mankind. It is widely
recognized that the theme of this Gospel comes out chapter ten and verse forty five, For even the
Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
In the third point we answer the question, why would these short writings be so well noted and
recognized? And this is answered with the theme verse as it paints a picture of how Mark
describes our Lord. Mark displays both Jesus divinity and his humanity. For example, Mark tells
us that Jesus is the carpenter Mark 6:3. Matthew softens it a bit by saying that Jesus is the
carpenter s son Matthew 13:55. Mark even tells us about Jesus emotions. Jesus was moved with
compassion Mark 6:34; he sighed Mark 7:34; 8:12; he marveled at the unbelief of his own people
Mark 6:6; he looked

A Research Project On Employee Turnover
Introduction According to Krishnaswami Satyaprasad (2010), the selection of an issue or problem
is the first step in business research. The first step in creating a problem statement is to select the
discipline in which the potential problem lies (Krishnaswami Satyaprasad, 2010). For my business
research project I chose the human resource area. Second, one must narrow the focus to a specific
aspect of the selected area (Krishnaswami Satyaprasad, 2010). Employee turnover is something
that I have first hand experience with which I find to be interesting, therefore this is my area of
focus. Appannaiah, Reddy Ramanath, (2010), state that after isolating the problem area one must
proceed to develop and define the actual problem statement. In this paper I will first discuss three
problem statements in articles I reviewed. After which I will develop a problem statement of m
own based on journal articles and studies I have read thus far concerning the issue of employee
turnover in the specialization of human resource management. For the formulation of a problem
Appannaiah et al. (2010), states that one needs to narrow down the focus from general to a more
specific area without becoming too narrow. With this in mind I have chosen to narrow my focus to
employee turnover in retail establishments.

Homeless Man Homeless
I am in a large crowd in New York City. There are many people in this crowd. Some are in a
hurry, and others are simply walking slowly, at a near stop. The people in a hurry are bumping into
the slower ones, and mumbling some rude things under their breath. The slower ones seem not to
care or notice.
Some stop to give a homeless man with a sign money, and others tell him to go get a job and to
stop robbing people blind. The man sits there, and starts to tear up. If you ask him, he ll tell you
why he s there, and it surely isn t to rob people of their money. I can t believe how rude people can
be. Then you might see people singing and playing instruments, getting more money than the
homeless man. The way the world is today makes

Changing The Face By Mark Pfeifle
In Mark Pfeifle s article Changing the Face(book) of Social Activism, the definition of the term
slacktivism is introduced with the words of the Urban Dictionary which defines it as an idea
that belong to people who want to look like they are taking action to support a cause when they
mostly do nothing. Despite the dictionary s meaning of the term, Pfeifle concludes that
slacktivism has completely changed social activism because people all over the world now have
the ability to create impacting and beneficial reforms on society. He argues that social media is
more powerful than ever, and the way people play a role in politics has changed because of it.
Pfeifle gives an example of the power that social media has when he points out that the
Democrats regained power through the use of social media during Obama s run for presidency.
He states that social media can form political groups with greater masses of people while
reducing the expenses as well as the difficulty of organizing one anywhere in the world from
Cairo to Zuccotti Park. He also supported his conclusion with the example of Kony, a cruel
guerilla leader whose brutality was exposed to the world with the help of slacktivists. Keeping all
these events in mind with the contribution of social media, Pfeifle sees the totality in the positive
change of social activism from slacktivism. Pfeifle is right about slacktivism having successfully
transformed social activism since it causes vast social changes, increases the

Baton Rouge University Case Study
Researched Argument Eager students flood unto LSU campus for the fall 2017 semester, and
with the TOPS program being completely funded, that number has increased compared to
previous semesters. Anxious families say their good byes and leave their children in the hope
that they will have a successful and safe semester. For two of these families this will be their last
time seeing and spending time with their children. Just last month two LSU students lost their life,
Maxwell Gruver who was a victim of hazing and Michael Nickelotte who was a victim of suicide.
Their deaths are a grim reminder that there are several dangers LSU students face at the Baton
Rouge campus. As mentioned before these were LSU students, and as LSU students... Show more

great emphasis on their top ranking sports teams and a sense of pride to be an LSU student. If the
university is responsible for gathering such a large students body then how can the blame for a
lapse in campus security not fall on them.
First and foremost, the university is responsible for providing higher education, but for many cases
that is where their responsibility ends. LSU employs a large police department, which Operates 24
hours a day and employs 55 commissioned police officers along with 16 non sworn support staff
(2016 Annual Security and Fire Report 6) . They also employ many student health originations that
are dedicated to preventing criminal activity and supporting students who are victims in the Baton
Rouge community. Even with these security measures, LSU cannot foresee ever possible instance
or prevent them from happening. It is not possible for criminal activity to be prevented completely
on and around the university. With this being said LSU security has not been making a significant
impact on the university crime rates for several years.
Statistically LSU has been considered one of the most dangerous college campuses in Louisiana for
a long time. When

No Child Left Behind Act
Winslow Gurney Mrs. Linda Staten AP English IV 13 March 2015 No Child Left Behind The
No Child Left Behind Act was created in 2001 by President George W. Bush. The act was created
to raise the standards of low performing children. The act was also created to reform an earlier
education act put in place by President Johnson as a part of his War on Poverty; the Elementary and
Secondary Education Act ...established that children from low income homes required more
educational services than children from affluent homes. (Reforming No Child Left Behind http:/

achieving student in either act. The No Child Left Behind program does not address, nor does it
provide, educational opportunities or benefits for the higher advanced learners. It has been said that
the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is the most far reaching federal legislation affecting
education. This act created funds for primary and secondary education, as well as funds for
professional development, common instructional materials, support to educational programs, and
parent involvement within the school system. The ESEA however, forbid a national curriculum for

have been fighting to gain equality have been held back and their opportunities have been stripped

A feminist is an advocate for equality and recognizes the worth of a woman (Allen, Few, and
Lloyd 2009). Betty Friedan was a well known feminist (women s rights activist) a social justice
leader and journalist. Betty Friedan s personal oppressions started during her childhood.
Everything that played a part in her growth and development was because of her mother, Marian
Goldstein, who grew hatred towards her husband s Jewish background because it made them
socially unacceptable. Her mothers anti Semitic Jew attitude was embedded into Friedan at a
young age (Antler 1998). The families Jewish background did not allow for them to attend the
country club and it permitted her from joining a sorority in high school. Because of this, she lost
friends in school. Determined to make people respect her as a woman, she became the editor of
her schools paper. She was so focused and brilliant that she realized that being at the top in her
class was the reason she could not find love, so she gave up school. This decision made room for
her to get married and become the one thing she was determined not to become, which was her
mother. She found herself walking closely in her footsteps, so she used this as one of her
motivations to start writing The Feminine Mystique in1963 to show the world women are capable

Bluefard, Sam. The Head, the Heart, and the Conflict of Generations. In Chaim Potok s The
Chosen. Children s Literature Review. Ed. Scot Peacock. Vol. 92. Detroit: Gale, 2004.
In his review, Bluefard talks about the differences that the two Jewish families have. One family
are Hasidic Jews and the other Orthodox. Bluefard states that the Hasidic Jews (Danny s family)
revert to earlier scholasticism, mostly used in Europe, by teaching through silence. Basically
meaning that he doesn t speak of anything but religion and scholastic subjects. Bluefard talks about
how strict Danny s Hasidic father is and how Danny is forced and pressured into being a Rabbi,
thus influencing Danny to rebel. The Orthodox Jews on the other hand, are quite the opposite.
Bluefard talks about how Reuven s father is much nicer, more open, and understanding. He lets
Reuven be what he wants to become, and is not pressured. Bluefard says that the difference
between the fathers is from their respective visions toward the holocaust (Bluefard, 2) ... Show more

Ecotourism, Tourism, and Development in Mexico Essay
Ecotourism, Tourism, and Development in Mexico
The issue of growth in the travel industry how much, how fast, what kind is crucial to the future of
communities, local lifestyles and cultures, and the natural environment. There are a variety of
instabilities and inequities associated with the expansion of tourism. If the social costs of infinite
growth (human consequences of ecological pollution, centralized concentration of power,
inequitable income distribution) are as high as they appear to be, our current social systems cannot
support such growth indefinitely. Tourism remains a passive luxury for thousands of travelers. This

Role Of Cost And Price Leadership For Tesco
P4 IMPROVEMENT WORK Porters 5 Forces for Tesco. Cost and leadership Cost and price
leadership was developed by Michael porter and it was to help companies make use of a strategy
which would put them on top of their competitors known as a competitive advantage. The cost
and price leadership aim at increasing the profits and market share of Tesco s through charging
their customers lower prices, while still being able to make a profit on every sale they make.
This is beneficial to Tesco s as it will attract customers to their store rather than them going to a
store such as Morrisons to purchase products. An example of Cost and price leadership was when
Tesco began competing against Asdas, Tesco s decided to lower the cost of their prices which they
cut 25% of the price on over 380 items. This method bears advantages such as Increase in profits,
increased brand awareness, an expansion of there customer base. Disadvantages may include
potential of a loss, it may also lead Tesco s to making cheaper products Differentiation Strategy
Differentiation strategy are competitive strategies which Tesco can use to make themselves
different within the market, it can include Tesco s establishing different features, benefits and
services which standout to the customers. Differentiation strategy is the strategy which involves
Tesco s identifying their buyers most important demands and needs in relation to their products and

The elimination of twenty four hour snow clearing services on the Trans Canada Highway impacts

the impact that the elimination of twenty four hour snow clearing services has on the community
of Little Rapids will be discussed. Little Rapids is located just off the Trans Canada Highway,
approximately 23.2 kilometres from Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook
(Google Maps, 2017). Three specific determinants of health that are affected because of this budget
cut include: the physical environment, access to health services, and income and social status.
According to the World Health Organization (2017), the physical environment is a determinant of
health; it includes safe water and fresh air, healthy workplaces, safe accommodations,
neighbourhoods, and roads. The removal of twenty four hour snow clearing services can result in
dangerous road conditions during the late night and early morning hours (Government of
Newfoundland and Labrador, 2010). According to Petten (as cited in MacLean, 2016), many
people take part in activities after 9:30 P.M. and will have to travel over unplowed, snow covered
highways risking an accident and their lives. Newfoundland and Labrador

Creating a Model to Forecast the Adjusted Close Price of...
Aim of the Project
My intention is to create a model in order to forecast the adjusted close price of Paddy Power PLC
shares. I will examine some of the different Statistical Modelling techniques and evaluate the merits
of each in turn.
I will use the Generalised Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) model if it is
found that the variance of the time series is non constant. My final forecasting model will primarily
use the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model to predict future closing
prices of the share, with a GARCH model of the variance incorporated.
I will use the R Software to implement these methods. R is a large open source statistical software
which is favoured by many professional statisticians and academics.
Data Set
I have obtained the Adjusted Daily Close Prices of Paddy Power PLC as quoted on the Irish
Stock Exchange for the past 3 years, from October 15th 2008 to October 13th 2011. I believe
that a sample of this size is large enough to test for statistical trends, such as seasonality. I have
plotted my data set using the R software package. Figure 1 is what was generated. A sample of the
data can be found in the References along with a link to an internet page containing the data.

circumpolar star in Cedar Falls. A Circumpolar star, is a star that will never set in a specific
location due to its proximity to the celestial pole. When looking at Cassiopeia she looks like a
house. A square base, with a triangle on top. Saturn was located in the South Western Sky. When
looking at Saturn with my own eyes, I could easily confuse it with Arcturus in the Western Sky.
With the naked eye they look about the same size, and brightness, and there is only one small
difference. When looking at the star and the planet, everyone should notice one twinkles, and the
other is a constant stream of light. The one that is twinkle is Arcturus. As the common lullaby
states, stars twinkle. The telescope used on September 3rd, contains a lenses twelve inches in
circumference, which makes it the second largest at the University of Northern Iowa s campus. To
determine the quality of a telescope, you measure the circumference of the lenses, and not the
length. The wider the circumference of a telescope allows more light to enter, which allows a
better quality of picture. This particular telescope can magnify by seventy five. This lens was
bought by the University of Northern Iowa twenty years ago for $5,000. It uses a computer system
to track the stars and galaxies with the information about the date, time, and location the telescope

The Cats Of The Ulthar Analysis
Journal 1 During my English 1302 class, our instructor assigned us to read a short story called,
The Cats of the Ulthar. As I read this story, my thoughts about the reading was very unexpected
as to what kind of stories I m used to reading for English classes. The short story was very peculiar,
and odd since I was reading a tale about an old couple who kills cats. My perspective on this story
was that it s similar to a fairy tale since they both have evil characters that play a major role in the
story telling. I viewed the old couple as folkloric characters that are usually featured in fairy tales
for the reason that most fairy tale movies or books show the evil character losing in the end.
Moreover, the old couple received pleasure from

Immaterial Qualities In Shakespeare s Richard III

Age of Eliz I and Shakespeare 150E, Section 2
February 7th, 2018
Immaterial Qualities in Richard III
In modern day society, many individuals do not believe that supernatural or immaterial qualities
could play such a tremendous role in everyday life. However, in early British times, the citizens
considered it normal to see supernatural aspects holding significant importance. Although William
Shakespeare was not entirely historically accurate when crafting his play Richard III, he attempted
to maintain the root structure of this period. Shakespeare uses many immaterial qualities including
curses, dreams, ghosts, and time to not only foreshadow a myriad of critical events but also to
emphasize Richard s avarice.
One of the most salient supernatural aspects used throughout Richard III was the idea of curses
and prophecies. Shakespeare used expletives throughout Richard III not only to foreshadow the
impending doom of characters but also to help the reader follow the complicated plot line. Queen
Margaret cast one of the most significant curses from the play declaring, Cancel his bond of life
dear God, I plead. That I may live and to say, The dog is dead (Shakespeare 270). As a result of
Richard s murderous scheme to expunge Edward, Margaret curses Richard s life and insists he will
die soon, as a result of the curse and his horrible deed. To the reader s surprise, Margaret s curse is
fulfilled as Richmond kills Richard in battle at the end of the play. ... Show more content on

Prevention And Improvement Of Community Health
Merriam Webster defines Public Health as The art and science dealing with the protection and
improvement of community health by organized community effort and including preventive
medicine and sanitary and social science (Merriam Webster). Throughout recent history, factors that
have seriously threatened human safety whether it be disease, genocide, pollutants, or plague, have
been identified as public healthconcerns by various governments and organizations. These situations
are remedied by creating a solution to correct the source of the problem. For example, finding the
cure to a fatal disease or shutting down factories that create environmental toxins. One of the most
under recognized public health emergencies in the United States is the violence caused by firearms,
and the source of this violence is unregulated gun ownership. The high percentage of gun ownership
among American citizens and the amount of injury and death that is associated with it constitutes a
public health emergency in The United States of America, which constantly, consistently, and
gravely endangers the American people; this violence must be controlled. Like any other potential
public health concern, the gun violence must be qualified based on the level of deaths and injuries
that occur as its direct result. The World Health Organizationdefines a public health emergency as an
occurrence or imminent threat of an illness or health condition, caused by bio terrorism, epidemic
or pandemicdisease,

Essay on Robert Cialdini
After spending a good amount of the semester discussing and learning about Robert Cialdini, it
is safe to say that no good discussion on influence and persuasion can go very far without talking
about the man who wrote the book on influence. After learning about Cialdini, we now know
what he identifies as the six weapons of influence. The six weapons are reciprocity, commitment
and consistency, social proof, liking, authority and scarcity. By weapons, what Cialdini really
relays, are the six behavioral triggers that tend to create habitual and expected compliance. To see
if these influences really exist in the real world, we made trips to places where we were going to be

Despite the wintry conditions, cold and very windy, each dealership was packed with potential
customers browsing the lots and test driving new vehicles. Everyone gets a rush when in the
market for new cars, maybe because we do it so infrequently! Even before dealing with any
salespeople, Mike was eager about checking out the 2013 models, and what cool new features
are now available. Even though Mike knew he wasn t going to be making a purchase, he was
excited to see what kind of strides Ford had made since the infamous government bailout of 2009.
Before we pulled into the dealerships parking lot, we set Mike s parameters out. Mike was going to
be interested in a brand new 2013 Ford F 150 pickup truck, while trading in his 2007 Jeep Grand
Cherokee, and having upwards of $10,000 cash to put down as a down payment. Sure those
numbers sound steep for a college student, but when in the market for a truck priced at over
$40,000 MSRP, we had to make it appear somewhat reasonable for the lurking salesman. As we
parked the car, we were both joking around about how quickly we would get approached by an
awaiting salesman. We decided to browse the used car lot first, but quickly headed over to the new
lot, figuring it would attract a salesman instantaneously. To our dismay, we couldn t get a salesman
to come outside and assist us! I m sure this was due to the fact the temperatures

  • 2. Similarities Between Brian Turner And Things Fall Apart The destruction of the tribe of Umuofia and the death of the innocent civilians in the Iraq War, are caused by individuals, or a group of people, who impose their will on the hopeless. In the poem 2000 lbs. by Brian Turner and the story Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, people and cultures are destroyed and obliterated for no justified reason. 2000 lbs. is a story that describes one moment in Iraq, where a taxi bomb blows up and shows the point of view of people that are around the bomb that are being impacted. The story Things Fall Aparttakes place in Africa near the Niger River, and is told as a story that is passed down through his heritage about the cultural clash of the invading Europeans and the native Africans. The detonation is a thing that takes away from his innocence and makes us believe that he was hopeless in trying to escape from the wave of destruction. The unmasking and killing of the egwugwu provokes the Mother of the Spirits, sending her howling throughout the village which is compared to being the very soul of the tribe [weeping] for a great evil that was coming its own death (Achebe 187). Insurance Analysis in Kenya Introduction Insurance in Kenya is known to have been in existence for over sixty years now with the first insurance companies believed to have been owned by British insurers during the colonial times. The industry is governed by the Insurance Act and regulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority. The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) was created by the Insurance (Amendment) Act of 2006 and came into operation on 1st May 2007. The Authority was established with the mandate of regulating, supervising and developing the insurance industry. • 4. Summary Of Suburban Poverty In America According to Elizabeth Kneebone, author of Confronting Suburban Poverty in America , the growth of suburban poverty is partly due to the dark economic situations that forced people beneath the line and by migration. She added that most low wage jobs in America are in the suburbs, and that people mistakenly believe that more services are offered in the suburbs than in the cities. Looking at the fast growing poor population in the suburbs, this phenomenon has become a community situation where anyone is susceptible of. Furthermore, it indicates that there needs to be a synergistic, universal change to better the situation (the government and organizations should change as well). The American Dream suggests that every citizen of the United States should be granted equal opportunity in bringing about achievements and affluence through intelligence, hard work, and perseverance. However, I ve seen many people who work extremely hard and yet are having trouble going above the poverty line. I almost think that the idea of an American Dream is perhaps an ideal, not something that is achievable anymore. • 11. The Timeless Quality of the Foundations of Excellent... Foundations of Excellent Leadership Are Timeless Introduction It is often said that a manager is what one does and leader is who one is. This is especially the case during times of turbulent economic, social and political change. In the debate of whether the effectiveness of a leader s communication skills is dependent on their age or generation, one must take into account one of the most critical skills in any leaders skill set, and that is emotional intelligence (EI) (Avolio, Yammarino, 2002). Great leadershipis timeless as it is predicated on respect and motivation of subordinates and peers and subordinates, along with a very clear focus on results attained through shared vision. It is the intent of this analysis to show that transformational leadership is timeliness because it is predicated on principles applicable to each generation. The impact of technology on leadership is to accelerate transparency and trust across entire organizations when transformational leaders are driving progress to shared goals and objectives (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Technology will amplify excellent leadership and shine a very bright light on mediocre and inferior leadership over time (Gilley, Dixon, Gilley, 2008). • 12. How Cool Is Interpreted By Black Jazz This essay will identify and examine what cool is and the ways in which the notion of cool is interpreted, reflected and exploited in the entertainment business. Each of these areas will be addressed individually. The early meanings of cool were described primarily as anti caring, pro drug and anti authority. The notion of cool originates from a slang used by black jazz musicians and within the last 30 years; the term cool has evolved towards a subculture and the concept of cool is mainly related to today s youth culture (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013, p. 323). It is used to identify something as up to date, stylish or innovative. Thus, based on a persons emotions or feelings about objects or ideas and if we relate it to people, cool becomes more ephemeral; a status of sorts (Hamley 2014). Researchers discovered that the dominant perception of coolness is revolving around social desirability and generic semi gentrified traits (Nye 2012). The notion of cool is frequently changing and it is not developed by a personality trait, more a group perception (Gerber 2012). The term cool is often used in marketing to young consumers. Their buying behaviours can affect the success or failure of a new business (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013, p. 326). Businesses often express autonomy through advertising headlines and slogans: Stereosonic ( Summer is coming ), Apple ( Think Different ) and Disneyland ( The happiest place on earth ) because young consumers have a desire to enhance ... Living during this extremely parasitic period in history, the theme would become the basis throughout the stories of Kafka. A parasite is defined by The Merriam Webster Dictionary as something that resembles a biological parasite in dependence on something else for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return. His father had an impact on the characters traits in his [Kafka s] writing. That being said, his characters usually had overbearing power. These individuals, or sometimes parasites, could break the will of men and destroy their sense of self worth. His mother was a stay at home mother who did not have the intellectual experience to understand her son s dreams of becoming a writer. She was a parasite to Kafka himself. • 17. WhatВґs Neonatal Jaundice Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to prevent acute bilirubinencephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus (American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after discharge home will now be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an infant before discharge from the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment of risk factors. Therefore, if the TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will have an idea about the infants risk for developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit and can guide the need for laboratory evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware of major risk factors for the development of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the first 24 hours of life, blood group incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of phototherapy, cephalohematoma or significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian race (AAP, 2004). The purpose of the Gospel of Mark is to show that our Lord Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God who was sent to suffer and to serve in order to rescue and restore mankind. It is widely recognized that the theme of this Gospel comes out chapter ten and verse forty five, For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. In the third point we answer the question, why would these short writings be so well noted and recognized? • 19. A Research Project On Employee Turnover Introduction According to Krishnaswami Satyaprasad (2010), the selection of an issue or problem is the first step in business research. The first step in creating a problem statement is to select the discipline in which the potential problem lies (Krishnaswami Satyaprasad, 2010). For my business research project I chose the human resource area. Second, one must narrow the focus to a specific aspect of the selected area (Krishnaswami Satyaprasad, 2010). Employee turnover is something that I have first hand experience with which I find to be interesting, therefore this is my area of focus. Appannaiah, Reddy Ramanath, (2010), state that after isolating the problem area one must proceed to develop and define the actual problem statement. In this paper I will first discuss three problem statements in articles I reviewed. After which I will develop a problem statement of m own based on journal articles and studies I have read thus far concerning the issue of employee turnover in the specialization of human resource management. For the formulation of a problem Appannaiah et al. (2010), states that one needs to narrow down the focus from general to a more specific area without becoming too narrow. With this in mind I have chosen to narrow my focus to employee turnover in retail establishments. Some stop to give a homeless man with a sign money, and others tell him to go get a job and to stop robbing people blind. The man sits there, and starts to tear up. If you ask him, he ll tell you why he s there, and it surely isn t to rob people of their money. I can t believe how rude people can be. Then you might see people singing and playing instruments, getting more money than the homeless man. The way the world is today makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Changing The Face By Mark Pfeifle In Mark Pfeifle s article Changing the Face(book) of Social Activism, the definition of the term slacktivism is introduced with the words of the Urban Dictionary which defines it as an idea that belong to people who want to look like they are taking action to support a cause when they mostly do nothing. Despite the dictionary s meaning of the term, Pfeifle concludes that slacktivism has completely changed social activism because people all over the world now have the ability to create impacting and beneficial reforms on society. He argues that social media is more powerful than ever, and the way people play a role in politics has changed because of it. Pfeifle gives an example of the power that social media has when he points out that the Democrats regained power through the use of social media during Obama s run for presidency. He states that social media can form political groups with greater masses of people while reducing the expenses as well as the difficulty of organizing one anywhere in the world from Cairo to Zuccotti Park. He also supported his conclusion with the example of Kony, a cruel guerilla leader whose brutality was exposed to the world with the help of slacktivists. Keeping all these events in mind with the contribution of social media, Pfeifle sees the totality in the positive change of social activism from slacktivism. Pfeifle is right about slacktivism having successfully transformed social activism since it causes vast social changes, increases the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everything that played a part in her growth and development was because of her mother, Marian Goldstein, who grew hatred towards her husband s Jewish background because it made them socially unacceptable. Her mothers anti Semitic Jew attitude was embedded into Friedan at a young age (Antler 1998). My final forecasting model will primarily use the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model to predict future closing prices of the share, with a GARCH model of the variance incorporated. I will use the R Software to implement these methods. R is a large open source statistical software which is favoured by many professional statisticians and academics. As I read this story, my thoughts about the reading was very unexpected as to what kind of stories I m used to reading for English classes. The short story was very peculiar, and odd since I was reading a tale about an old couple who kills cats. My perspective on this story was that it s similar to a fairy tale since they both have evil characters that play a major role in the story telling. I viewed the old couple as folkloric characters that are usually featured in fairy tales for the reason that most fairy tale movies or books show the evil character losing in the end. One of the most salient supernatural aspects used throughout Richard III was the idea of curses and prophecies. Shakespeare used expletives throughout Richard III not only to foreshadow the impending doom of characters but also to help the reader follow the complicated plot line. Queen Margaret cast one of the most significant curses from the play declaring, Cancel his bond of life dear God, I plead. That I may live and to say, The dog is dead (Shakespeare 270). As a result of Richard s murderous scheme to expunge Edward, Margaret curses Richard s life and insists he will die soon, as a result of the curse and his horrible deed.
