They also need to research the wide range of ethical, legal, medical, and social dimensions thoroughly to provide an informed discussion. Additionally, writers have to consider perspectives without imposing personal beliefs and avoid triggering emotional responses from readers. Crafting an abortion essay requires navigating a myriad of viewpoints delicately through empathy, research, and effective communication.

Peloponnesian War Essay. Eastern Gateway Community CollegeMarissa Collazo
The document discusses writing an essay on the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta from 431 to 404 BCE. It notes that crafting such an essay is challenging as it requires a nuanced understanding of the complex historical events, political factors, and sociocultural landscape of ancient Greece during this time period. Specifically, the essay must delve deeply into primary sources and scholarly interpretations to comprehend both the intricate details of the war and its far-reaching impacts on Greek society, politics, and philosophy. Constructing a cohesive narrative demands a meticulous examination of evidence and a keen ability to synthesize information and draw connections across different elements.

2. Teaching English As A Language Essay
INTRODUCTION
English seems to have joined this list of basic skills. Quite simply, its function and place in the
curriculum is no longer that of foreign language and this is bringing about profound changes in
who is learning English, their motives for learning it and their needs as learners. (Graddol, D, page
72)
If a command of English is almost normal, the value of speaking traditional languages is increasing
in particular for native speakers of English.
The slogan English is not enough applies as strongly to native speakers of English as for those
who speak it as a second language. We are now nearing the end of the period where native speakers
can bask in their privileged knowledge of the global lingua franca (Graddol 2006:118)
English is used extremely widely today among speakers who have acquired it as a language for use
with foreigner, rather than in their own schools, government bodies and so on.
The role of education in school is now seen as to provide the generic skills needed to acquire new
knowledge and specialist skills in the future: learning how to learn. It is true that mandarin Chinese
and Spanish have more native speakers, but at the present they have neither the global sway nor the
multifunctional use that characterizes English today.
Graddol (2006:62) also states that English is no longer the only show in town . It is convenient for
many learners have few grammatical endings and vocabulary derived from both Romance and
Germanic root, but it is

3. Materialistic Items In The Great Gatsby
Materialistic possessions became the center of popularity in the 1920 s, life became all about who
could get the most Women and throw the biggest party. These materialistic items were used to
acquire other non materialistic things such as love and social status. These goals were often
unattainable, specifically for three characters in F. Scott Fitzgeralds , The Great Gatsby. Love and
social status were the unattainable dreams of Myrtle, the status driven cheater; Wilson, the
shooter; and Gatsby; the Daisy craving self made millionaire. Myrtle Wilson married George

regrets ever marrying him. Nick describes The Valley of Ashes as we are introduced to it in the

4. The Company s Supply Chain Management Processes
Before suggesting new initiatives for Air Products, this study will first discuss the company s
Supply Chain Management processes, processes that could be greatly improved by BPR. A
business process is a collection of linked tasks that result in the delivery of a service or product to a
client. A business processis also understood to be a set or activities and tasks that once completed,
will accomplish an organizational goal. A business is an organizational system in which economic
resources (input) are transformed by various business processes (processing) into goods and
services (output). Business processes include marketing, developing, producing, and delivering
products and services that support customers (O Brien, 2011).

I will make recommendations for how this business process can be reengineered in accordance to
the company s values of quality, innovation, and service through Business Process Reengineering
(BPR) (Hammer, 110). BPR is a management approach involving a fundamental rethinking and
radical design of the business process to achieve dramatic improvements in critical contemporary
measures of performance such as cost, quality, service and speed. BPR elevates efficiency and
effectiveness of the company s processes that exist within and across the organizations. The key to
BPR is for the company to examine its business processes from a clean slate perspective and
determine how they can best construct these processes to improve how they conduct business. This
perspective enables the designers of the business processes to dissociate themselves from the
current process and focus on developing a new process.
The goals BPR seeks to accomplish can be achieved by taking steps such as 1) subsuming
information processing work into the real work that produces the information; 2) Treat

5. My Life After The World
Margaret Mead once said: Never believe that a few caring people can t change the world. For,
indeed, that s all who ever have. This quote certainly holds true for me. When I was in elementary
school, a caring man changed my life without knowing it. In second grade, my mother signed me
and my little sister up for iceskatingclass. For an extremely brief time period, I had visions of
becoming a figure skatingprodigy, but they immediately dissipated as soon as I stepped onto the
ice. I couldn t take a step without slipping, but I was terrified of falling. To get to the area of the
arena where the class was taking place, I had to hang onto the side of the wall and slowly push
myself sideways.
When class started, the teacher first taught us to skate across the ice by stepping outward with our
skates. Our first task was to skate across the ice arena. I felt like I was two again. I took tiny baby
steps across the ice, afraid to fall. I wasn t sure why I was deathly scared of falling. I was bundled
up in snowpants and a heavy winter coat, so falling wouldn t have hurt much anyway, and it wasn t
like falling was an extremely horrible mistake. But I was afraid to take a big step and fall. In life, I
have never wanted to take big risks. I was always careful not to make a mistake and look like a fool.
I looked ahead. My sister, Grace, was already halfway to the other side of the ice arena. She fell
again and again, but got back up and skated faster with each fall. Every time she

The related text Neighbours by Tim Winton follows a young Australian couple s discovery process
as they move into a new multicultural neighbourhood. Through the notion of rediscovering
something that was once lost or concealed, new perceptions and understanding arise challenging the
individual preconceptions, which in turn cause new emotional connections to be formed. When
individuals search for a new experience, they may uncover ideas or objects that were thought to be
lost through which the individual may review the past or see it in a new light and discover
unexpected concepts and understanding. Shakespeare explores this in The Tempest, through
Prospero s rediscovery of humanity. This rediscovery is initiated in Act 5 after Prospero confronts

7. Essay On Greek Geometry
The Greek are one of the founders of geometry, and had a big impact on math and the world
today. Greek geometry eventually passed into the hands of the great Islamic scholars, who
translated it and added to it. All around us we can observe some geometrical principles, which is
probably what started the ancients on their way to developing this field of study. The word geometry
has its roots in the Greek work geometrein, which means earth measuring . There were many
circumstances in which primitive people were forced to take on geometric topics, man had to learn
with situations involving distance, bounding their land, and constructing walls and homes. For
sure builders today have to use geometry. In this study of Greek geometry, there were many more
Greek mathematicians and geometers who contributed to the history of geometry. Geometry is one
of the most greatest things mankind has ever thought of. Because of Greeks geometry has become
a big part of our lives as well. Some people might have jobs that include a lot geometry. People

Every person will overcome an obstacle in their lifetime because there will always be an
obstacle to overcome. For example, I had the experience of overcoming an obstacle in a previous

experience when a close family member was diagnosed with cancer. It is important to overcome
obstacles in life because overcoming obstacles helps us to learn, to grow and become better.
One of my challenges in life was the time when I failed grade 7 science. I failed grade seven
science because I wasn t paying attention in class and I never did any homework. I overcame this
obstacle by studying over summer and re reading the textbook. This experience helped me to be

9. Analysis Of Stop Time By Frank Conroy
Throughout Frank Conroy s life in the novel Stop Time, Conroy faced numerous struggles such
as fatherlessness, desire for distinction, pursuit for peace of mind, Call me Ishmael, and plenty
more. These struggles molded him into the person that he was and throughout the course of his
life became his overall identity. Throughout life, everyone goes through conflicts and hardships
that make them who they are, whether it is in a positive of negative way. Frank s fatherlessness
throughout the span of his life is something that I cannot relate to on a personal level, but can yet
contrast the aspects of having a dependent and influential father figure in one s life, versus the
lack of such an important and crucial person. In the novel Stop Time, the first words that Conroy
states to the reader is, My father stopped living with us when I was three or four (11). Conroy s
choice to declare this as the first words of his memoir reveals the entire foreground as to why
Frank is the way he is. From the start, the lack of Conroy s father caused doubt and lack of self
worth inside the mind of Conroy. Without a consistent and stable father figure whom he can be
dependent on, it can hence lessen one s overall opinion of themselves. From the beginning, when
his father left, Conroy struggled with the constant desire to fill that void and wound that his father
had left him. Unlike Conroy, my father has been here for me since the start. He has impacted my
life in numerous ways, and I

The first opium war which began in 1839 is a story of how China a rich, prosperous and stable

into a weakened and compromised state brought about by the exploitation and humiliation by the
British and other Western powers throughout the 19th century. The war stemmed from an extremely

12. Factors Caused By Recreational Scuba Diving And Snorkeling...
Globally, marine ecosystems, in particular, coral reefs, are experiencing increasing pressure due
to the growth in recreational scuba diving, and snorkeling. Pressure refers to the frequency, and
quantity of divers, and dive boats on any particular reef. This pressure often results in damage to
the reef, and is caused by divers, snorkelers, and even dive boat anchors, and anchor lines,
furthermore, this damage takes significant time to repair, due to the rate at which coral grows, and
repairs itself. Although this damage is not irreparable, continual pressure by recreational dive and
snorkeling industries, can lead to damage beyond the reef s ability to recover. Damaged reefs result
in loss of sea life, vibrancy, and color, the primary draw for divers, snorkelers, and other marine
enthusiasts. Consequently, this damage extends to the economies of the local communities, in
which water related activities are a primary source of revenue. To sustain these local communities
economies, and tourist enjoyment, private SCUBA organizations can coordinate, and facilitate
options to reduce the recreational damage of the ocean s reef system through education, artificial
reef attractions, and alternative dive programs.
SCUBA diving is a growing, and global recreational sport, with one certification agency, PADI,
claiming an annual average of 900,000 new diver certifications globally . Of course, not all of
these new divers will continue on to become frequent, or repeat divers, however,

13. The Return Of Martin Guerre Analysis
Natalie Zemon Davis The Return of Martin Guerre tells the true story of a peasant named Martin
Guerre, who was at the center of a famous case of imposture in France in the sixteenth century.
Davis takes the facts of this famous case from two primary sources including a book written by
one of the trial judges of the case in Toulouse, Jean de Coras, called Arreste Memorable and one
by a lawyer, Guillaume La Sueur, called Admiranda Historia. Davis uses other secondary sources to
add details about peasant life including information about marriage, family, economics, religion,
village social structure, as well as the political structure of the time. Davis moves beyond the facts
and tries to interpret and understand the motivations of the characters in the story. For example,
she assumes that Bertrande silently agreed to the fraud of Arnaud du Tilh because she wanted a
husband and could not remarry after her husband abandoned her. This seems more believable to me
than Bertrande just being stupid or naive and not knowing the difference between her husband and
a stranger. In the preface of the book she admits she was generating not proofs, but historical
possibilities (Davis, viii). I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

arterioles (which are highpressure vessels compared to venules), and the afferent arteriole has a
larger diameter than the efferent arteriole.
16. How does its high pressure condition aid its function of filtrate formation? The higher the capillary
pressure, the more filtrate will be formed.

substances from the filtrate?
Their possession of dense microvilli (especially the PCT cells).
11. Explain the mechanism of tubular secretion, and explain its importance in the urine formation
process. Tubular secretion is the process of moving substances from the tubule cells or from the
peritubular capillary blood into the tubule filtrate. It is important for adjusting pH and eliminating
substances not already in the filtrate.

17. The Decline of Cantonese Opera in Singapore Essay
Singapore, being a well known cosmopolitan city, has many of its cultural roots coming from all
over the world. Ever since the first record of Singapore s population structure, the Chinese have
dominated in racial concentration, now with a staggering 74.2% in 2013 . Through the course of
history, these Chinese migrants have brought different cultural and religious norms, food
preferences and conversing language to the little red dot from their various provinces. This essay
will focus mainly on the entertainment pastime, Cantonese Opera; on how the Singapore
government unintentionally had a hand in the decline of amateur Cantonese opera troupes, with

In those days, radios were considered very expensive and a relatively underdeveloped
technology. Thus with the introduction of a cable broadcasting service, broadcasts were now
made available to households, even at areas where radio signals had weak reception. Moreover,
SWMDA like many other associations had jumped on the bandwagon and decided to perform
their songs on Redifussion Singapore. This along with their unparalleled sound quality had
decreased the need to travel out of homes to enjoy Cantonese Opera performances. People were
satisfied with just listening to the songs being performed. The next turning point was the
introduction of television service in 1963 and the implementation of the Speak Mandarin
Campaign (SMC) by the Singapore government in 1979. Not only did then Prime Minister Lee
Kuan Yew stop giving his speeches in Hokkien, all non mandarin Chinese radio and television
programs came to a halt. This outward focus on eliminating dialect as a language of
communication through broadcasting and other channels such as education resulted in lesser
appreciation for entertainment performed fully in dialect; this included Cantonese Opera. The
vacuum was quickly filled by Hong Kong and Taiwanese opera movies, as well as a series of
television operas produced in Singapore, Following the new trend, all these operas provided
subtitles in Chinese characters (Chua, 2005). As the

Analysis of an Interview with a Research Coordinator
Summary
This interview aims to help students understand the role of the research coordinator (RC) and
what it is like for that person to bring a large scale research project from conception to
completion. The interview participant has worked as a RC for many years and has a strong
background in statistics. According to the participant, an essential qualification for a RC is a solid
understanding of statistical concepts and analyses, and the ability to build on that knowledge and
apply it to statistical computer programs. This foundational knowledge is needed because a project
can involve a significant amount of analysis and coding from data. The participant s current research
project is a large scale project involving the implementation of public health policy for BC and
Ontario. This research is dynamic and challenging and always evolving, which requires the RC to
be flexible and adaptable. For many of the team members, this project is not a primary job;
therefore, it is important for the RC to find the balance between project deadlines and allowing
people to have personal time. Despite being the lead for this project, the participant shares decision
making with a variety of people and government agencies in both provinces, which brings various
levels of bureaucratic challenges, including gaining access to data. This and other logistical
constraints can make analyzing data and producing papers time consuming.

After reading the material I believe the reason church planting is not the center of some churches
today is they fact that they are spending all their time and resources on trying to keep a older
church alive that is failing and unsuccessful. The other reason I think church planting has taken a
back seat is because many people believe that there are enough churches already in the area and
that there is no need for a new church plant. Which is not always the case because their may be a
certain group of people you may be able to reach through a plant that would never consider
attending a traditional church.

Modern Chinese International Relations and Its Effects on the Chinese Economy
Introduction
In 2013, referencing the previous year, the U.S. Commerce Department released import and export
figures totaling 3.82 trillion USD, while China s customs administration released figures
amounting to 3.87 trillion, making China the world s largest trading economy (Bloomberg News
2013). This news signifies that China s trading policy and partners must be a major target of
scrutiny with newfound importance. In this paper, I will discuss the history of Chinese trade
policy, what constitutes Chinese trade policy, namely China s use of free trade agreements (FTAs)
and treaties, who China s major trading partners are and relations with each one, and how ... Show

Based upon Chinese trade history, one can extrapolate the China was averse to trade for a long
period due to past experiences of exploitation, but once it rediscovered the benefits of trade, it
decided to leverage its population base, geographic size, and resources to dominate trade.
Furthermore, China joined numerous international economic organizations including the World
Bank, IMF, the GATT, the Multi Fiber Agreement, etc. in the mid 1980s. By becoming more
open to trade, China was more open to foreign capital, allocating it the funds to grow as a trading
entity. Thus, due to lack of choice and by overcoming an aversion to foreigners, caused in no small
part to a horrible history of opium addiction and massacres, China was able to become a massive
trading country.
Who s Who? After China joined the World Trade Organization
, it realized it was unable to
accomplish its trade goals of recognition of a market economy status and preferential access to
regional factors of production using traditional multilateral routes, for these goals are not in spirit
with multilateral treaties and instead decided to achieve such goals with bilateral agreements
(Mallon and Whalley 2004). Multilateral treaties, by nature often restrain member nations,

22. Individuality And Uniqueness In Emerson s Self Reliance By...
1.In the essay Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson addressed the topic of originality and
uniqueness to depict the idea that these are the qualities that make people great. Emerson stated
that We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us
represent in order to argue that each person has a uniqueness because their environments is
unique (Emerson 2). The quote infers that every person in society has an ability to possess a
unique idea. Every person has a unique idea, which means that every person can become a free
thinker. Those who do not act on their thoughts and ideas due to societal rules lose the chance to
become unique. Emerson believed that Society is a wave. The wave moves onward, but the water
of which it is composed does not , meaning something sparks society to do something, everyone
starts doing it but why they do it is lost over time (Emerson 20). The wave of society represents the
masses and the water that makes up the wave are the individuals in society. Every person has an
ability to possess a divine thought but cannot ferment it because of societal restraints (the wave).
Due to the influence of society, one lacks the strength to act on their original thought and follows
the crowd. Martin Luther acted on his original thought but thousands of people adopted his
thoughts, even though the reasons for his regional thought are no longer present. Instead of
creating and following their own ideas, they adopted Luther s instead. In society, many people
follow and imitate well established beliefs, thus leading to the lack of divine thought. In the
reading, Emerson came to a conclusion that all people have divine thoughts but cannot act on them
because of societal influences.
2.In the reading titled Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emersonaddressed the topic of truth and honesty.
According to Emerson, one who went Upright and vital, and speak the rude truth is unique
(Emerson 4). Emerson followed this quote stating that one shall Speak what you think now in hard
words, and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks...though it contradicts everything (Emerson 7).
What Emerson views as a man simply stating his thoughts and ideas can be seen in society as a
contradiction in

prevailing in the Southern states of American in mid 1930 s. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird
racism is a major theme and is relevant between blacks and whites.. Racism can be defined as
prejudice, discrimination or antagonism directed against someone of a dififferent race based n
the belief that one s own race is superior. Racism is a belief that all members of same race possess
characteristics, abilities or qualities speisfic to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as

case of Tom Robinson and Calpurnia.

black man wrongly accused of raping a white woman, Mayella Ewell. The trail clearly showed
Tom Robinson as not guilty, the Jury still decided on a verdict that made him a culprit. The

24. Persuasive Essay On Tissue Lacks
I believe that anybody shouldn t run along through what the doctors did to Henrietta Lacks.
Henrietta persisted a mother of five children and after she gave birth to her fifth children, she
occurred to be diagnosed with cervical cancer. The doctors stole her cells without her
permission. From there on evolution of laws have been concerning tissue search. One of the
issues comes to pass if people should be given the legal ownership of their tissues. In my
opinion, I feel like everybody should be given the legal right of their tissues. In 1951, 2009, and
1999 many laws were different than now. One law that was different was if doctors took cells
without permission it was totally fine and the government didn t care. For example, one quote
that the text lists is, When I tell people the story of Henrietta Lacks and her cells, their first
question is usually Wasn t it illegal for doctors to take Henrietta s cells without her knowledge?
Don t doctors have to tell you when they use your cells in research? The answer is no not in
1951 and not in 2009... What this piece of evidence is trying to say is that the doctors back then
didn t really care about if what they were doing was right or wrong and if the patient s approved
of what they did to their cells. Another piece of textual evidence is, When you go to the doctor for
a routine bloodtest or to have a molecule removed, when you have an appendectomy, tonsillectomy,

1. Introduction
Around the turn of the millennium political leaders around Europe were challenged by two
antithetical developments within their societies. On one side, the European citizens rely on them to
handle and solve the major contemporary political issues (e.g. unemployment, peace and
safekeeping). On the other side, increasing distrust and indifference concerning politicians, politics
and institutions (on the national and European level) leads to a growing legitimacy issue for the
European Union and its institutions. As a result the incumbent president of the Commission of the
European Communities, Romano Prodi, announced promoting new forms of European governance
(Prodi, 2000:4) as a key strategic objective of his Commission from 2000 2005. Consequently, the
European Commission published the White Paper on European Governance in 2001, introducing
steps to a more democratic Union.
The aim of this paper is the critical assessment of the White Paper, thus closely scrutinizing the
principles of good governance and the given proposals for change. The paper will start with a
short section on problem analysis, followed by the critical engagement with the principles of good
governance and the proposals for change as proposed in the White Paper. Then, this paper will, very
briefly, shed light on the outcome and culminate to the conclusion a statement for discussion.

However, without Hamilton s counter balance Jefferson s policies may have left the government
weak and ineffectual to deal with major crises both at home and abroad.
Each viewpoint needed the other to create a government that would be strong enough to protect
itself and it s people from internal and external strife, but not so strong that it would infringe on
the rights of the people as enumerated in the Bill of Rights and in the Revolutionary spirit. These
issues, of course, weren t resolved or ceased to be relevant after Hamilton and Jefferson left the
scene. These are still very much the issues we deal with even now, over 200 years later. As much
as we might dislike, or even hate, the position of the other party, without some balance both sides
would undoubtedly abuse their power...more than they already do.

opinion on immigration is very clear. According to Student New Daily, conservatives, Support
legal immigration only. Oppose amnesty for those who enter the U.S. illegally ( Conservative Vs
Liberal , paragraph 12). This means that conservatives want immigrants to be a part of our great
country, but do not want people who came here illegally to get citizenship. One big point is that
Conservative think the borders should be secure before dealing with illegal immigrants. Presidential
Candidate Donald J Trump has stated, The US has become a dumping ground for everyone else s

Creativity and innovation is the principle component for an organization to achieve sustainable

A great influence on the styles around me is attributed to where I live and intend to live. The first
magazines I looked at as a child were Masonry Construction and Popular Mechanics because that is
what my dad read. When my family moved up north to a resort from the Twin Cities suddenly my
world at the age of six was changed and I loved it. I think I was too young to fully appreciate styles
of writing at age six but as I got older I saw my way of life in other magazines such as Country
Living. A conservative, country life; simple and surrounded by beauty.
Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens have a small town, country style. The articles
and information given have conversational tones, a sense that something is sincere and shared.
Recipes are often given with a story to introduce their significance, perhaps a family memory;
not just jotted down for another to copy. The writing involves me. I think What a great memory

peoples lives and how they cope with weeds in their vegetable garden or how they added a porch

Ethical Responsibilities of Interface Designers Imagine a woman at Ralph s grocery store,

wedge of cheese. She alerts him that she did not pick out that cheese and he informs her that it

The woman argues that she did not want the cheese, and she did not notice that it was placed in

Hodgkin s Disease
Cancers arising from the lymph nodes or other sites of lymphoid tissue are broadly termed
lymphomas. This group of diseases is divided into Hodgkin s disease and non Hodgkin s
lymphoma. In both conditions, there is a replacement of normal lymphatic tissue by collections of
abnormal lymphoma cells.
The lymphatic system are a complex network of specialised cells and organs that defend the body
against infection. Lymphatic organs include the bone marrow, spleen, thymus gland, lymph nodes,
tonsils, adenoids, appendix and clumps of tissue in the small bowel. A function of the lymphatic
system is to nurture and mature the B and T lymphocytes (white blood cells vital to immune
function). Cancerous changes can take place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some instances, the nodes may spontaneously increase and decrease in size.
Because Hodgkin s disease is associated with a defect in the maturation of the lymphocyte, the
immune system may be impaired. As such repeated infections may occur. Symptoms
The symptoms of Hodgkin s disease frequently depend upon the stage of disease. Staging defines
the extent to which the disease has spread throughout the body. Moreover, it often determines
which treatment(s) will be required.
Hodkins has 4 distinct stages of Hodgkin s disease, these being stages 1 4. Each stage is further
defined as exhibiting either A or B symptoms. These symptoms refer to either the absence of A or
presence of B unexplained weight loss in the preceding 6 months, fever greater than 38В°C, and or
night sweats.
Tumour suppressor genes: In health this family of genes usually act as a counter balance for
oncogenesis. It is thought that they may be responsible for repairing gene damage in cells, or are
growth inhibitor genes. In Hodgkin s disease, there are often evidences of mutation in tumour

46. The Effects Of Music On The Human Brain
There are many ways that music can influence the human brain. One of the many astonishing
qualities that the human brain can accomplish is the ability to retain information for a long and
short period of time. The part of the brain where retention of memory takes place is located in the
hypothalamus, located in the temporal lobe. The parts that these parts of the brainare where memory
is stored. The ability to remember many of the memories that human are able to retain come in
different ways. Some com and stay in the human mind naturally. Another way that humans are able
to retain information is through the use of music. In the article written by Onur Kokal, Nihan
Yagisan, and Ahnet Cekic, titled The effects of music on achievement, attitude and retention n

curriculum through the use of music. The article begins to explain how the way that the human brain
is able to retain information is through the way that the material is being emphasized and taught.
As it goes on it begins to inform the reader that one of the ways that the brain is able to
subconsciously store information is through the use of music. Because music has rhythms and
beasts that are intriguing to the brain the information that is being processed with some sort of
music in the background would be fairly easier to remember. Ever question as to why individuals

The last 150 years have seen the origin of and rapid expansion in human knowledge involving the
nature and mechanisms of trait and disease inheritance in human beings. Advances in genetic
research hold great promise for the future development of effective prevention and treatment
strategies for a great many, often devastating, heritable conditions. However, these advances also
raise a series of policy, legal and fundamentally ethical questions concerning what we should and
should not do with the knowledge and technology we acquire. These questions are numerous and
both imminently practical and speculative, ranging from the exhausted, yet still largely
unresolved, question of the moral status of the human embryo to fears about slippery slopes into
a Brave New World or Gattaca style dystopic future characterized by designer children and a
genetic underclass. In the following, I will attempt to map out the current debate as it applies to
genetic screening and testing, with special attention paid to the criticism offered by disability
studies theory and disability rights advocates. I will begin with a brief overview of the traditional
arguments in favor of reproductive liberty and a more permissive stance toward the use of genetic
technology. This will include a discussion of autonomy as the underlying ethical principle at work,
and the related focus on informed consent as both a guiding axiom and common target of criticism.

48. Labeling Theory
Deviance, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. There is nothing inherently deviant in any
human act, something is deviant only because some people have been successful in labelling it so.
J. L Simmons The definition of the situation implies that if you define a situation as real, it is real
only in its consequences.
INTRODUCTION
Labelling theory, stemming from the influences of Cooley, Mead, Tannenbaum, and Lemert, has its
origins somewhere within the context of the twentieth century. However, Edwin Lemert is widely
considered the producer and founder of the original version of labelling theory. This paper, not a
summary, provides a brief history of labelling theory, as well as, its role in the sociologyof
deviance. It attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deviant s response to societal reaction leads to secondary deviation by which the deviant
comes to accept a self image or self definition as someone who is permanently locked within a
deviant role. Furthermore, the distinctiveness of the approach is that it draws attention to
deviance as the outcome of social imputations and the exercise of social control. Labelling theory
is very complex, making it quite different than other theories. Instead of looking at why some
social groups commit more crime, labelling theory asks why some people committing some
action come to be defined as deviant, while others do not. Labelling theory is also interested in
the effect of labelling individuals. As well, labelling theorists note that most people commit
crimes at some time in their lives but not everyone becomes defined as deviant or criminal. How
does this process of defining a person as deviant work? Look at a situation where a policeman
holds stereotypes about typical criminals. They use these stereotypes to interpret the behaviour of
suspected deviants. In other words, the closer a person comes to the stereotype held by the police,
the more likely they are to be arrested, charged, and convicted of the crime. Furthermore, once
someone has been successfully labelled or stigmatized as criminal or deviant, the label attached
may become the dominant label.

What to Consider in an Intervention Plan
Arrays of tools, treatment and practices have been developed for use during a clinical consultation
to help determine suicidal thoughts, concerns and behaviors (James, 2013). Within the tools
developed determinant conditions and preindication signs are identified (Montague, Cassidy Liles,
2016). The succeeding section will distinguish and outline risk factors, suicide hints and suicidal
assessment that are designed to gauge suicidal thoughts, concerns and behaviors (Montague,
Cassidy Liles, 2016). A suicide assessment is essential for clients who have suicidal behavior
(Ribeiro, Bodell, Hames, Hagan, Joiner, 2013). A suicide risk assessment can be a vital step for
prevention of suicidal behavior (Ribeiro, Bodell, Hames, Hagan, Joiner, 2013). Suicide risk
assessment is a crucial element in working with saddened clients and is the initial step in treating
suicidal clients (Huh et al., 2012; Regehr, LeBlanc, Bogo, Paterson, Birze, 2015). The risk of
attempting or finalizing a suicide increases with the more signs or symptoms a client disclose

may not openly say what their plan is or how they are feeling (Kanel, 2015).

52. The Importance Of Preparing And Taking The Act Test
Margaret Thatcher, the first female Prime Minister of Great Britain, once said, You do not achieve
anything without trouble. This quote can directly apply to getting ready for and taking the ACT
Test (Myres n.pag.). The ACT is a standardized college admissions test that measures multiple skills
that students learn throughout high school. This test is said to determine quite a few things in
students lives to come, and the ACTis supposed to be taken very seriously. Nonetheless, it is very
difficult for students to prepare themselves for this test because there is so much that they have
to know. Many students spend countless hours preparing and studying for the test because they
want to do well, and they go through a lot of trouble in an attempt to succeed. Most of the time,
preparing does help boost students scores; however, too much preparation can lead to problems
and possible negative outcomes in their lives. Thatcher was completely correct when she said
that there will be trouble in order to succeed because there are a lot of things that can go wrong
in a student s life while he or she is spending time studying for the ACT. Having said this, being a
Junior who is getting ready for the ACT is truly the worst of times because it stresses students out,
ruins their social and family lives, and determines their lives after high school. To begin, however,

In Speech in the Virginia Convention, Patrick Henry uses a variety of literary techniques such
as ethos, pathos, and logos in order to be persuasive in his nonfiction writings. One of these
techniques, however, was more effective than the rest. Henry s use of ethos as a persuasive
appeal from his ethical position to his audience s was most convincing due to the expertise,
character, and ethics that he was able to develop. Expertise was developed in this speech mostly
by Patrick Henry s repetitive use of we and us. He purposefully used these pronouns to create a
connection with the audience and to show he is a part of what he is talking about rather than an
unrelated onlooker. Also, this allowed him to gain credibility and inform that he has first hand
experience with the topic he is talking about. By doing this Henry is able to call on the ethics of
the audience to be more persuasive. Henry uses this technique again when he says, I have but one
lamp by which my feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience (Line 33). This sentence also

God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea
Jane Eyre, from Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Antoinette Mason, from Jean Rhys Wide
Sargasso Sea, both depict very different creeds. While Bronte created Jane with a Christian
background, Rhys has birthed Antoinette into a more primitive, confused faith. Analyzing each
writer s description of the red room will reveal the religious nature of their characters.
In both texts, the rooms are symbolic of church. As Jane is sent to the bedroom of her dead uncle,
Bronte relates it to a place of worship. A bed supported on massive pillars of mahogany, hung with
curtains of deep red damask, stood out like a tabernacle in the center . Due to the vast size and

However, she did recognize the room as a church. I looked around for the altar for with so many
candles and so much red, the room reminded me of a church . Rhys vocalizes through Antoinette
that the room was like a church without an altar . Voidof a sanctuary, the room is in essence, void
of God. Despite her want of God, Antoinette has no Divine guidance as she remains in the altar less
room. Rhys has created this room in Antoinette s dream ergo she has control over Antoinette s
religious state. Due to this circumstance, Antoinette will never remember God because Rhys will
never allow her to dream of Him.
Heaven is exemplified in both books. Out of these deep surrounding shades rose high, and glared
white, the piled up mattresses and pillows of the bed, spread with a snowy Marseilles counterpane
. With this image of white pillows and mattresses floating up in the red room, clouds in the celestial
skies are represented. Bronte has brought to Jane a church, a tabernacle, God s throne, and now
heaven. Since Bronte has deluged Jane with all of these pious suggestions, she has adumbrated
Jane s religious associations. No doubt Jane believes in God; Bronte has assured the readers by
making His omnipresence known through the images in the room and allowing Jane to accept
them. On the other hand, Rhys makes Antoinette out to be a skeptic. I lit them [candles] carefully

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) covers more than three fifths of the Eurasian

Central Asia is a place where the strategic interests of the world powers intersect. External factors
