The Treatment Of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Essay
Review of Literature
With the use of several different search engines such as Medline, UpToDate, The new England
journal of medicine, 2015 Toronto Notes, and Google scholar. The information was gathered using
several key wards such as anterior cruciate ligament injury, anterior cruciate ligament treatment,
anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation.
The first study reviewed was a randomized control trial of treatment for ACL tears by, Frobell,
Roos, Roos, Ranstam, Lohmander (2010)
The two treatment modalities were early surgical treatment with rehabilitation, and aggressive early
rehabilitation; with the option for later surgery if needed. This compares the major differences in
thought on treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries between surgical and non surgical.
(Frobell, Roos, Roos, Ranstan, Lohmander, 2010)
This study was a randomized control trial in patients of 18 to 35 years of age, who presented to an
emergency department with recent rational knee trauma to a previously uninjured knee within the
last four weeks. Anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency was determined by clinical exam, and a
score of five to nine on a tenner activity scale before the injury. 5 indicating participation in
recreational sports and nine representing competitive sports. Possible participants were excluded if
they had a full thickness rupture seen on magnetic resonance imaging, or if they have had a
previous knee injury. (Frobell, Roos, Roos, Ranstan, Lohmander, 2010)

broken hip with answer 4
Chief Complaint: 72 year old woman who fell on her right hip.
History: Margaret Donovan, a 72 year old white female, was brought to the emergency room by
her son in law after falling in her bathtub. She was previously in good health, despite leading a
relatively sedentary lifestyle and having a 30 pack year history of cigarette smoking. The only
medication she currently takes is Inderal (propranolol) for mild hypertension. She fell upon
entering the bathtub when her right leg slipped out from under her; she landed on her right hip.
There was no trauma to her head, nor does she complain of right or left wrist pain. However, she
reports severe pain in the right hip and upper thigh, and was unable to get up after her fall. An

Given the above considerations, Margaret s osteoporotic femurs are vulnerable to fracture because
of (A) the loss of spongy bone in the epiphyses and (B) the thinning of the bony collar in the
diaphysis.
6. Describe the changes that a broken bone undergoes as it is healing. The bony collar of long
bones helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism described in #4A above (i.e.
hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition, long bones also withstand compressive forces
by virtue of the spongy ( cancellous ) bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony
plates (called trabeculae ) found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the
tough bony collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old
time railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge.
7. During her long recovery, Margaret is advised by her physician to begin weight bearing as
soon as she can. How does weight bearing influence the process you described in question #6?
(Be specific in your answer and describe what weight bearing does to bone at the microscopic
level.) The most popular hypothesis regarding the effect of weight bearing on bone remodeling is
called Wolff s law . Wolff s law states that bone grows and remodels in response to the mechanical
stresses placed upon it (e.g. from muscle pull or gravitational

Nowadays, the development and construction of new building consumes a significant amount of
material and non renewable resource that can impose large costs. Environmental benefits,
combined with energy saving and the social advantage of reusing a valued existing buildings make
adaptive reuse old buildings an essential way to practice in our local development. This paper is

But what about those that might be renovated rather than demolished, especially the more historical
ones? StarMetro [2]
This clarify the abandonment of construction project is considered as one of the most common and
serious persecution in the construction industry in Malaysia. There several causes lead to this issue
such as financial difficulties, mismanagement during the construction process, unexpected location
or nature difficulty, and lack of cooperation from local authorities. Beside these issues, I found that
industrial ruins also the main factor contribute to the increase number of abandon building.
Buildings like defunct motor factories, tin factory, textile mills, steelworks, and pottery
manufacturing factories which was abandoned till now and not being restored by private ownership

The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault
The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault is considered by many to be one of the greatest
paintings of Romantic Art. Here I will discuss Romantic Art, some history behind the painting, the
painting in general, and to prove why the first statement is true. If we are going to call this painting
Romantic Art one must first know what it actually is or have some sort of idea what is counted as
Romanticismor as something that Romantics would do. Romanticism celebrates the spontaneity
and the use of the imagination. Abandoning tradition constraints of the art world to explore new
and creative ways of expression. Possibly seen as intuitive individualism and primacy of feeling.
Romantics didn t reject reason but though emotions were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He interviewed the survivors, drew mutilated corpses in the Paris morgue, and had a model
created in his studio of the raft. The painting was 16 feet 1 inch by 23 feet 6 inches so it is huge
in size and the dramatic impact was just as amazing. This gave the people a record of an event
that happened in a time before photography. At first glance a viewer might just see people
huddled on a raft together, a couple waving down a ship, and trying to get someone off canvases
attention while others try to keep those who are weaker on the raft. But if they look closer they
might notice other things of interest that are commonly found in Romanticism or Romantic Art.
Gericault use of the double triangles in this image of the mast and rope help keep the main
focus on the people on the raft who are dying or dead. Suffering against heat, dehydration,
starvation, and forced to canalize each other to survive which is a true struggle against nature but
also against ones self. It would be a very horrific and emotional experience for anyone to have to
choose between eating another human being or dying of starvation. He focuses on the true
emotion, the disgusting horror of the event, and what had to be done or was done to survive. It
has very rustic looking colors in the image, reds, oranges, yellows, browns, blacks, and grays that
give it an autumn like color theme. This gives you a sense that they

My Family And Beloved Friends
Every year me and my dearest family and beloved friends would embark on a journey to my long
deceased Uncle s manor. My uncle died in the year 1867 at the age of eighty, the doctors never
quite understood how he died but when he was found the maid said that he was holding a picture of
tree which stood in the house gardens. However this picture was never seen after the maid put it on
the mantelpiece after his death, nor the tree.
As I woke up I could already smell the sweet scent of freshly baked bread coming from the bakers
across the road.I could also hear a faint pattering on my downstairs door.As I tentatively stepped
down each step the pattering began to embark on a crescendo, louder and louder it got until it
became a banging.I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Underbelly And Blackrock Analysis
Australian crime drama s such as Underbelly and Blackrock are constructed to represent groups
from Australian reality. These representations are designed to present ideas about groups,
reinforcing what the audience, typically Australian, already knew and thought without changing the
audience s perception completely. These groups of people are stereotyped, giving the audience a
sense of reality and at the same time engaging. The following essay will analyse the representation
of the criminal groups in the crimedramas of Underbelly and Blackrock. Blackrock is a
screenplay written by Nick Enright that explores the crime of rape and how teenage boys deal
with there associations to the crime. Underbelly is a hit TV drama that explores the streets of
Melbourne during a time known as the gangland war (1998 2004) in which 36 criminals and
citizens were murdered. Underbelly explores the mindsets and actions of the criminal calling and
hiring the murders. The two dramas construct the main criminals in different ways, but with the
outcome being the same grotesque and evil characters. Underbelly achieves this through the use of
visual feature which characterises the criminals, the perspective of the victims also is used to
construct the criminals in Underbelly. Blackrock also uses the perspective of the victims to
constructs the criminals in the text but by being a play the use of written conventions is dominant.
A key difference between the two texts are the age of the criminal

Age Of Reform Essay
Anti slavery, perfect societies, connections with nature, and less alcohol were just some of the
issues discussed and acted upon during the Age of Reform. The Age of Reform was a social
reform, or an attempt to improve upon issues in society, occurred in America during the mid 1800
s. Reform movements such as public education and women s rights both made essential impacts on
American Society. One of the many changes in the Age of Reform was the reform of public
education. The first schools were built for religious purposes, but during this period, the reformers
wanted better schools to make sure that the future voters would be informed. Also, these schools
would help immigrants become part of the culture of American society. Massachusetts was... Show

Originally, the rights of American women were minor. Women could not vote, serve on juries, or
attend colleges among other restrictions. Women like Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton
fought long and hard for civil, religious, and social rights of American women. Stanton wrote the
Declaration of Sentiments which was modeled after the Declaration of Independence. This
declaration demanded equality of men and women. Women s suffrage, or the right to vote, was
another struggle for the women to overcome. These women did win some small victories such as
convincing New York to pass a law protecting women s property rights, and some states even
began to allow married women to keep their wages. Education also improved for women.
American schools were focused on educating boys, who would grow up to be voters, so Emma
Willard started The Troy Female Seminary. Eventually, Mary Lyon built Mount Holyoke Female
Seminary, which was the first college for women, although it was not called a college at the time.
Even though education improved for women, it would not be until 1920 that a constitutional
amendment would be made to allow women to vote. The Women s Rights Movement was a very
major and important improvement for American

Compare And Contrast The Tea Act And The American Revolution
The Sugar Act, or the American Revenue Act of 1764, was an imposed tax on the colonies from
Great Britain that put extra taxes on silk, sugar, and coffee. The colonists were angry, not only
because they had to pay extra for these items, but also because it gave the customs officers of the
colonies more power ( The American Revolution). They were now allowed to search warehouses
and ships for smuggled goods. Additionally, if people were accused of smuggling, they would no
longer have to go through colonial civil courts, but instead they would go through vice admiralty
courts (Sugar act). Vice admiralty courts were simply courts that did not have juries that were
granted the authority to pursue local legal matters pertaining to maritime activities,... Show more

impatient with British rule. Revere used his craftsmanship abilities to fuel anti British
sentiment (Paul Reveres Ride) . He engraved a biased depiction of the 1770 event that he and his
fellow patriots dubbed the Boston Massacre, which was a conflict between colonists and British
troops that caused seven deaths and several injuries (Paul Reveres Ride). In 1775 Revere was
one of a group of men who appointed themselves to patrol the streets of Boston to keep watch

The Film Moonlight Film Analysis
This is a criticism of Moonlight, a film directed by Barry Jenkins. It is a coming of age story,
telling the journey of a young gay black man named Chiron. Through linear character
development the film follows a young Chiron from adolescence into adulthood while growing
up with alpha males in Miamis black ghettos. The Story is told in three parts, with a different
actor playing the lead role in each section: a young Chiron named Little , as a teen named Chiron
, and an adult named Black . Despite a compelling lead performance by Mahershala Ali and
Naomie Harris, and its great soundtrack, Moonlight falls flat and never gets out of the shadow of
its typical cliche plot, all the while, the film continued to never overcome the obstacle of... Show

Part Two Chiron fast forwards to Chiron, now a high school student, still continuing to be bullied
by his peers, who now more than ever suspect him to be gay. Nothing much has changed, he is
still very coiled up and scrawny framed. Chiron and Kevin have continued to stay friends through
out the years, but in the middle of the scene, there friendship takes a different turn. One night on
the beach Kevin and Chiron share and intimate moment, Chiron s first and only homosexual
encounter with a man. Not long after Kevin is pressured by the high schools bully Terrel, to
attack Chiron. It makes no sense, as to why Kevin would do such a thing after an intense, intimate
moment the two had just previously shared. This act is another reminder to Chiron that he cannot
trust anyone, especially after the complete betrayal that Kevin has shown in front of countless
other students. Chiron and Kevin shared an emotional connection that he has never experienced
before. The scene ends as, Chiron walks in to class, as per usual does not say one word, and
slams Terrel in the back of the head with a chair and is taken to Juvenile Detention. This is a
defining moment as we see Chiron standing up for him self. However, it leaves the audience
wanting more. Now as part two comes to a conclusion we see that Chiron had the opportunity to
become his own and live up to his true identity. Yet, Not much has changed, but Because he was
denied this as a young boy, as a teenager he still is

The Impact Of Telemedicine On Health, A Systematic...
Introduction
To evaluate and study the impact of telemedicine in health, a systematic literature review was
conducted. An electronic research through the University of Maryland library was done the articles
selected dated from 2000 to 2014. A total of 12 articles was reviewed that dealt with clinical
outcomes, efficacy, patient and provider satisfaction. Telemedicineas an emerging field can greatly
improve the outcomes of healthcare thus resulting in decrease the delivery cost of healthcare.
While the results of the studies are inconclusive on some of the areas, there are some strong
supports for patient satisfaction. The literature reviews cost effectiveness, provider satisfaction,
patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several managed care organizations were represented. All of the organizations interviewed
indicated that there is a market demand for complementary and alternative medicine such as
Telemedicine. The study showed that while cost and clinical efficacy were important, both of these
were less important than market demand. This unexpected result show that consumer demands are
actually more important in shaping the demand for telemedicine and should be used to pursue
development of telemedicine among healthcare providers that will essentially lead to better
reimbursement from health insurance companies (Whitten and Kuwahara, 2003). Whitten and
Kuwara states that payers must answer both patients need and suppliers concerns of telemedicine
cost Methods and Organization of the Report. Qualitative reports on 12 peer reviewed articles
were researched through the University of Maryland to get information on the cost effectiveness,
clinical efficacy, individual and provider satisfaction. The 12 articles printed dates ranged from
200 and 2014. The articles represented articles that have been published on the topic of
telemedicine subject in various areas. The review articles began with searching the database
looking for articles on telemedicine and found a possible 100 articles on the topic and were
narrowed down to just a few dozen that fit the standards the matter was searching for.

Implementation Of Characters And Platform Design
Implementation characters platform design Most of the detached body and platform elements
were imported through asset store of Unity and the rest of them were found online, which saves
lots of time for us in preparation phase. We designed totally three characters by splicing all the
individual parts of the body then created 4 animations, running, jumping, standing and idly for
each. The most important part when doing this is setting the layers and the hierarchical
structure of parts of the body to be more lifelike according to the real physical model. Similarly,
the animations of each character meet the needs of actions in game time. Figure 3 places the
basic profile of characters we designed. Figure 3. Character profiles After the preparation of
characters, the phase coms to the platform design. The main platform contains 5 main layers
laying out the players, background, UI, front ground and tiles. With distinguished layers of the
objects in scenes, we could use camera s culling mask to render objects or write special events
for certain layers. For example, background layer is for the basic background of the platform
while front ground is the front landscape up forward the players and tiles. There all the objects
placed in the scenes are just for normal pass mode because the platform for this mode is fixed
since the difficulty of each level should be increasing with certain level design. First, we edited the
segment items and merged then into single object which can be

Emergency Management And Emergency Preparedness
Emergency Management

Introduction
Terror attacks have become a norm in the modern society, and the occurrence of these attacks has
escalated in the past few years. Back in September 2001, the United States of America oversaw the
darkest period in their history. A total of 19 militants affiliated with the terrorist group Al Qaeda
,
hijacked four commercial passenger planes and flew 2 of them into the World Trade Centre, 1 hit
the Pentagon, while the other one crash landed in Pennsylvania. In the wake of these attacks, a trail
of death, destruction, and emotional instability was left behind. What followed was the realization
of the importance of emergency management and emergency preparedness in the United States.
This paper takes an in depth and detailed look at these attacks, their overall impact in terms of
economic and social status, and a detailed look at how different countries and organizations can
effectively prepare themselves to deal with disasters by using excellent emergency management
skills.
Body
After the 9/11 attacks, an estimated 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives while properties
worth billions of dollars was destroyed. Since then, the impacts of the attacks are still being felt,
more than 15 years after the tragedy. As it is the case with any attack, the economy, stability and
political state of the affected country is usually affected. In general, the 9/11 attacks had both

Reflection Papers
I have been teaching writing for many years. As a result, I have a variety of papers for students
to write that I know are possible for third graders to write. In addition, each year and group of
students is different so I adjust the papers they write based on the level of the group and the needs
of the individual student.
We work together on planning our papers through a step by step scaffolding process and modeling
so that students have assistance with the planning process. The next stage is for me to walk around
to monitor the students and determine what assistance they need. I check for understanding of the
assignment and make suggestions as needed and to confirm they will be able to write this paper.
During this time, I will assist them with any spelling issues they may have. In addition, I
conference one on one with each student and will help them with spelling during this time. Since
I don t teach spelling, this process has worked the best. Finally, I do teach cursive handwriting so
this is a skill that we work on weekly. My goal is to finish each of the letters in the first semester
and practice these skills in the second.
We are departmentalized so I am only able to see their work in writing and science. We do write a
science research paper on the animal of their choice which gives them the opportunity to apply their
writing skills to science. In addition, we write an instruction manual for a simple machine. My goal
is to integrate writing

Dreams and Their Interpretation Essay
Dreams are the royal road to the unconscious.
― Sigmund Freud, The Interpretation of Dreams
My dream was grey and foggy. It started off at the beach with my 2 year old son and boyfriend. The
beach was in a glass box. My son then had an identical twin and they were getting washed away
by the water. I yelled for my boyfriend to help me but he refused to help. I finally was able to save
my son and the twin from the waves. I Then take my son and walk out of the glass box. I no
longer have my son and there is a black spiral staircase. I was walking down it with blackness
around me. Then a little doll in a white nightgown was below me on the steps. I felt so afraid that I
jumped over the railing and into The darkness.

So where does this leave you? At one time or another you will be wondering, what did that dream
mean? . If there are so many different answers to the same question, how will you ever figure out
which one is right? Don t be under the impression that you will find a right answer. Thinkers dating
back to Aristotle have grappled with the issue in one way or another. Experimentation has been
preformed, both psychological and biological, yet no one can definitively state what purpose dreams
serve, or what they mean. Since there is no one answer to the question of dream interpretation, the
best you can hope for is to learn about several of the existing approaches and determine what you
will choose to believe.
All of the approaches to understanding dreams reflect the movement of societal thought. The initial
beliefs involved gods, temples, and faith. At the times when the cultural beliefs on dreams were
established the explanations for most worldly events involved these elements. As time passed
society, particularly Western society, became more individual oriented. With this came the
psychological approaches to dreams. These approaches reflect the general tenets of the psychology
of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They look for answers to the workings of the
human psyche by delving into the subconscious, which was presumed to be shaped by either
childhood experiences, repressed desires, or a collective unconscious. Finally, the

Essay On Immigration And Naturalization Service
This book talks about the aftermath of September 11, 2001 and how this terrorist attack caused
the United States of America to seal off borders and take emergency precautions against all other
nations by stepping up the security of the Immigration and Naturalization Service. The book also
talks a lot about how immigration is becoming a security problem. The information in this book
about how immigration is a security issue is helpful for fighting my side of the argument. It would
be very helpful to back me up while I am arguing that illegal immigration should not be legal and
that it is a problem that needs to be dealt with. I can talk about how the United Statesstepped up

There were many acts that were enforced to try and stop illegal immigration, but nothing

most of them just caused illegal immigrants to be put in more harm to get across the border. The

Building And Evaluating Experiential Learning Mechanisms
Building and evaluating experiential learning mechanisms requires a deep understanding of not
only general learning theory, but also the principal ways in which material can be taught to
students. According to authors of Effective Instruction for Stem Disciplines: From Learning Theory
to College Teaching, there are numerous traditional learningmethods that are important for our
background. The first, which they call study based, is based on student focus on materials, without
a strong active component. For most students, especially those of younger ages, this likely occurs
most at home, where students independently study for traditional examinations. The second
traditional learning method, retrieval, they describe as the conversion of study based learning into
an active learning method. Retrieval encourages students to practice accessing information to make
it so regular that using it in later informational synthesis is already simple. The third traditional
learning method, which they call schema building, is learning based on situational practice,
ensuring that students can appropriate handle the real life aspects and applications of a concept
(Mastascusa et al., 2011).
Unfortunately, these traditional methods of learning are not always indicative of modern, dynamic
education. More modern learning techniques provide students with a far more interactive
experience. In one such method, students combine the first and third aforementioned traditional
study methods. Students

The Contributions Of The Lincoln Electrical Company
What are its values and how is this related to increased performance by employees?
The Lincoln Electrical company has an organizational structure rooted in the values and principles
set out by its two founders, John Lincoln, engineer and inventor, and later his brother James F.
Lincoln. The company has a strong company culture that persists to present. Both brothers left their
imprints on the company, but the primary shaper of its values and principles, and success should be
attributed to James Lincoln.
It was James who understood that customer s needs were key and should be the driving force
behind the company s mission and values, and not simply profit. Because customer needs come
first, and not the needs of shareholders, production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quietly governed the way he treated employees and the way he conducted business.
Is Lincoln rare?
Lincoln Electric s commitment to its employees is rare and its concept of empowering employees
goes back to the company s origins. The sharing of company profits with its employees is a unique
characteristic. It was one of the first companies to pay bonuses and to allow workers the option of
buying company stock, which empowered employees by making them partners with management.
It was also one of the first to have retirement packages and to institute a formal employee merit
evaluation system.
What are some company artifacts?
Some artifacts of Lincoln are exceptional worker performance with little idle time. Another is the
rate of turnover with no employee ever having been fired or being dismissed. Employee
performance is extremely high and employees receive bonuses, a key part of its unique system.
Worker productivity has steadily increased, with figures having doubled since 1945. There is no
need for a union as employees have an excellent relationship with the company and are involved in
making key decisions that affect employees.
What type of organizational company profile does Lincoln Electric have?
Lincoln represents a company with a strong company culture which has persisted for many years.
The founding principles still govern the way it runs today and it remains an

How Do Violent Video Games Cause Gun Violence
With recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, policymakers have placed
increased emphasis on violent video games as a probable cause of gun violence. President Donald
Trump, for example, is scheduled to meet with representatives from the video game industry to
discuss the issue with them.
This argument in my opinion all comes down to desensitization of children. At a young age
children are like a block of clay and there early childhood. Everything around them moulds them

Twin-Personal Narrative
I am a statistic. I am the 1 in 285 Americans that has an identical twin. Although these are merely

Our arms are long in comparison to our bodies. We have the same shirt size and our waists are the

Gender Labeling In Society
The environment in which a person grows up in and the people that surround them often times
have a lasting impact on them on who they are as a person and how they interact with others as
well as how they view themselves as. Society often contributes greatly in the way a person
identifies themselves by labeling them as either male or female. This labeling process begins by
the time the child is born and they are given the labelof being a boy or a girl based on their
appearance. Labels are put upon a personthroughout their entire life, depending on who they are as
a person, the way they act, what they believe in, and the way they interact with others. The role of
society in all of this is far greater than just putting people into certain... Show more content on

There are many labels that make up a person, whether it be gender wise, religion, ethnicity, or
something they are good at, but the ones that stick out the most are the ones that society imposes on
them. As individuals, once we are given a certain label, we start to believe it and begin acting upon
it. Oftentimes it may go to extremity where the individual begins to lose their own identity in
attempts to fulfill a different one. If the individual is told that they are very fashionable, they
may start to buy the latest trends in the fashion industry despite the price just to fulfill this label.
Labels may stray from the individual, but the ones that forever remain are the ones where a well
respected individual lays it upon them. In On Being Sane in Insane Places (1973), David L
Rosenhan performs an experiment in which eight sane people are evaluated and are able to get
admitted to a psychiatric ward as pseudopatients. While in there, they acted the way they
normally did but were disregarded by staff members based on the label that was imposed on
them. It took a while for the employees to realize that they were mentally sane, but because they
were admitted as pseudopatients, everything else about them was disregarded. Once a person is
designated abnormal, all of his other behaviors and characteristics are colored by that label,
(1973:54). Rosenhan also says that the labels given by mental health professionals are just as
influential on the patient as they are on their family and friends to the extent where they eventually
begin to accept their diagnosis and behave accordingly to it,

Analysis Of The From The Scarlet Letter

Composition: Analysis Chapter Nine, The Leech from the Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the most iconic books in history; its storyline,
theme and literal characters have made an impact on the world of literature for hundreds of years.
What stands out the most in the book is the use of archaic diction and figurative language, which
serve to paint vivid, descriptive pictures of each character, specifically, Roger Chillingworth. In
chapter nine of The Scarlet Letter, The Leech , Nathaniel Hawthorne uses setting, allusion,
metaphor, irony, diction, and tone to reveal Roger Chillingworth, the town Leech s, evil, ominous
character displayed by his actions and words. Throughout chapter nine of The Scarlet Letter,
Hawthorne places Chillingworth in or near the cemetery by the widow s house, an ominous setting
that foreshadows his death. During the book as a whole, Chillingworth usually pops up in spooky
settings, such as Hester s jail cell, the woods, Dimmesdale s dark lit room, and the scaffold at night,
these all playing into the eerie nature of Chillingworth himself. Towards the beginning of this
chapter, it is suggested that Chillingworth had come to terms with the reality of his estranged wife,
Hester, having a child by another man, and was so distraught and embarrassed that he changed his
identity with a vengeance. Unknown to all but Hester Prynne... he chose to withdraw his name

Impact Of Digital Media On Cinema
It is obvious that technological convergence leads to the changes in media production and
distribution (Bolin 2007; Tryon 2009; Dixon Foster 2011). These changes can be observed
through the ways films are promoted and exhibited have also been affected by the use of digital
media. The following sections will provide a detail analysis of these changes.
Tryon (2009) examines the transformation of cinema to the digital form. The proliferation of new
portable technologies sparked the debates about the changes in the film industry. On the one hand,
there are concerns that digital media and home entertainment systems threaten the future of cinema,
as they provide viewers more choices and flexibility in watching movies. On the other hand, media

The first thing to consider is the formats of movies. Digital formats have gradually replaced the
film for many reasons: space efficient, inexpensive, immediate and unlimited (Pavlik McIntosh
2014, pp. 223 224). This is because physical films not only cost more but are also inconvenient to
print, deliver and preserve. Meanwhile, the transfer of data by using digital tools is extremely
fast and easy, whether through a computer or via satellite. For example, traditional types of film
reels, such as the 35mm or 70mm, have given place for high capacity hard drives (Dixon Foster
2011, p. 22). Pavlik McIntosh (2014) also emphasize that while the digital data still need to be
kept in a physical storage, it is still far more space saving than that needed by an analog form.
Furthermore, it is totally free to duplicate the digital movies and send them to distributors.
The movie industry, along with other mass media industries, has become more democratized and
fragmented due to the use of digital technology. While the market is still dominated by a few
giants, there are more spaces for smaller players. Retailers like Netflix or Amazon have paved the
way for niche products to be consumed. This is what academics refer to as the long tail, which is
the main focus of Chris Anderson s 2006 book. According to Anderson, our culture has long been
obsessed with a small number of hits popular contents made by powerful companies.

Blood Of Plasma And Formed Elements
Conclusion:
Blood consists of plasma and formed elements. Erythrocytes transport mainly oxygen to all body
tissues. Leukocytes protect the body against pathogens by direct attack or by forming antibodies.
Platelets play an important role in blood clot formation. The heart is divided into four chambers. It
acts as a double pump system. The pulmonary circuit, which provides for gas exchange, is served
by the right atrium and right ventricle of the heart. The systematic circuit, which supplies blood to
all body tissues, is served by the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart. For each heartbeat, the P

Lab 4: blood consists of two major components: plasma, which is 90% water and nonliving fluid
matrix, and formed elements, which are living cells suspended in the plasma. Erythrocytes,
Leukocytes, and platelets are the three types of the formed elements. Erythrocytes, or red blood
cells, contains hemoglobin molecules and plays an important role in oxygen (and small amount of
carbon dioxide) transportation. Leukocytes, or white blood cells, helps defending the body and are
part of the immune system; there are five types of Leukocytes: neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils,
lymphocytes, and monocytes. Each type has a unique function in defending the body against any
pathogens. Neutrophils are the most abundant, monocytes are the largest, lymphocytes are the
smallest, and basophils are the least abundant leukocytes. Platelets play an important role in blood
clot formation. The heart consists of four chambers: right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and

superior vena cava and inferior vena cava, to the lungs to unload carbon dioxide and upload
oxygen, and then enter the left atrium of the heart. The main function of the pulmonary circulation
is to allow for gas exchange. The systematic circulation carries the oxygenated blood from the left

Summary Of The Story The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
I HAVE READ THE STORY the short happy life of Francis Macomber, and I m going to give
my assessment of the book. This really isn t a happy story. I will tell what I think of the characters
the setting and plot of the story. Let s start with one of the main characters, Robert Wilson.
Robert Wilson ... Wilson, a professional safari guide and hunter, is the strong courageous rugged
blue eyed white man that had made a home for himself in Africa with the Zimbabwe people. His
profession was showing wealthy Americans how to hunt for big game animals such as lions,
impalas and buffalo. In some sense Wilson was a little cocky and arrogant, because his clients
didn t know that he was quite intelligent and spent time in the military before going to Africa. He
was also A real lady s man, and a man s man also. This is probably why Ernest Hemingway really
connected with this character, thus I think making him really opinionated.
Frances Macomber. Now Frances Macomber is a well groomed physically fit man (especially for
his age) looking more like a younger man in his twenties than his thirtyish age and wealthy. He is
also Well educated and great at gentleman sports, like big game fishing.
Margret Margot memsahib Macomber ... the wife of Frances Macomber. A very beautiful and
elegant woman. However, she is kind of a femme fatale type. she is a philander of sorts, she has
cheated on Macomber not once, but several times to be exact. Margot doesn t love her husband,

M Night Symbolism
In M. Night Shyamalan s movie The Sixth Sense symbolism and foreshadowing is used throughout.
The use of the color red is the most obvious form of symbolism. The color red is used to show
important moments, presence of spirits, paranormal events, etc. in the movie.
Red is used to highlight the most important moments in the movie or just items of interest that the
viewer should take note of. From the first scene of the movie you can start to notice the red
symbolism. Malcolm and his wife are discussing his awards and it s shown to be invaded inside
of a red frame. Another example of symbolism is towards the beginning of the movie when Cole is

This part of the film was somewhat confusing to me. I thought maybe he didn t like talking to
anyone besides his patients. I thought Cole was his patient so he only talked to him. After
seeing the scene where Malcolm and Cole s mother were sitting together waiting for Cole to
come home I thought that maybe he was having a conversation with her but towards the end of
the movie it was clarified that Malcolm was never talking to her or interacting with her. I noticed
that Cole refused to interact with Malcolm in that scene but would ve never done so if they were
alone. Another part of the movie that was somewhat confusing to me was if those kids from
school were hitting Cole or if it was his mother. I initially thought that it was the kids but after
seeing how Cole s mother was so impatient with him I thought it maybe could ve been her. Again,
the ending of the movie where Cole finally revealed his secret to his mother clarified the whole
thing. He explained to her that the ghosts would do that to him. I believe some parts of the movie
were meant to confuse the viewer to have them thinking something completely opposite of the truth.
The people who were behind the movie really paid attention to the detailing and really ended up
explaining everything at the end of the

Target Costing
Target Costing on Mercedez Benz
Mercedes Benz (MB) is one of the world s most successful car manufacturers since its
establishment in 1886. They used target costing in the design and production of one of its
products, the M Class, which is a new sports utility vehicle model, in response to their first time

adapting to market changes. MB started developing a range of new products such as the C Class

Therefore, MB should work its best to derive a comprehensive category list prior to index
development. Finally obtain the target cost through the Target Costing equation. Importance Index
(table 4) shows the degree of importance towards customers of each component which may be
considered when purchase of a new MB product while Target Cost Index (table 5) is a measure for
the deviation of importance (which the component should be given) and component cost. ABC is
an ideal instrument to meet this requirement. Therefore, Tartget Costing was used in the AAV
production project. However, there are some problems existing in the development of those indexes
as well as the way MB was interpreting them. Meanwhile, MB could use achievement ratio and cost
reports to monitor the performance of Kaizen Costing. MB then compared the target cost with
drifting cost to find out the cost reduction targets for each function group. In order to achieve this,
MB should seek to develop certain organizational arrangements (through policies or culture) to
foster a spirit of continuous improvement.
Finally, i would like to recommend MB to always maintain a good relationship and cooperation
with all those suppliers since MB become rely on them to achieve target costing. Indeed, as a leader

As Reagan and his private officials went about on doing this secretly, publicity had a way to find
what was going on. Congress was lied to as a cover up by Reagan so they would not intervene.
After his reelection, Reagan supported another covert program: an attempt to release hostages in
Lebanon. This would soon turn into the Iran Contra Affair. In 1984 a Shiite Islamic group that
was loyal to Iran s Ayatollah Khomeini had captured and held seven Americans hostage in
Lebanon. The President was very much concerned for the Americans well being. An Israeli
foreign minister, David Kimche, insisted that since Iran and Iraq were at war with each other, Iran
would need more weapons, and because Israel would also gain monetary benefits, they could help
with persuasion to release the officials. All the U.S. needed to do was to approve a small shipment
of armaments to Iran. Reagan then agreed to this deal, to sell arms to Iran through Israel, which
would induce the kidnappers in releasing the hostages. Even though Reagan stated before that
America will never make concessions to terrorists, the transferring of arms violated that statement
and the Arms Export Control Act since congress was not informed and didn t give consent. The

how men and women are different. She gives many reasons as to how they are, but the top ones are
physically, hostility, emotionally, with attitude, intellectually, and with childhood conflicts. She
was born in 1885 and died in 1952. Suzanne Raitt writes, In 1922, at a panel over which Sigmund

As she gave her paper, Horney was nervous but respectful. She carefully acknowledged the

Walkerton Water System Case Study
The Walkerton water system was supplied by three groundwater wells: wells 5, 6, and 7.
Contamination into the drinking water supply was through Well 5. Well 5 was a shallow well,
and all of the water drawn from the well came from a very shallow area. This water was drawn
from an area of highly fractured bedrock. This fracturing, and the geological nature of the
surrounding bedrock, made it possible for surface bacteria to quickly enter into the fractured rock
(O Connor, 2002, pp.166).
The water distribution system in Walkerton included 41.5 km of water mains as well as two
standpipes, which provided water storage and pressure equalization for the system. It is estimated
that in the Walkerton system, between 33 and 35 locations were dead ends. There is a greater risk
of bacterial contamination in dead ends, because water does not adequately circulate in them and
may become stagnant (O Connor, 2002, pp.57). The water system had a reserve capacity of 20

Analysis Of The Horizontal Word By Debra Marquart
The Horizontal Word, written by Debra Marquart, was a memoir to North Dakota and the
Midwest where she states, The Midwest is a place that s been considered devoid of stories, a
flyover region one must endure to get to more interesting places (Marquart 31). In her memoir to
the Midwest, she gives descriptive views that many Americans have surrounding the Midwest.
Marquart also gives a description of the Midwest s history and even how many people
overlooked the Midwest as they declared the region a dreary plain, wholly unfit for cultivation,
and, of course, uninhabitable by people depending upon agriculture for subsistence (Marquart
39). Debra Marquart expands off the idea of how the Midwest was overlooked by including her
grandparents views as they that were immigrants from Russia. They saw the Midwest as a new
opportunity of life and they were excited to receive their allotments of land (Marquart 73). In
Debra Marquart s memoir, The Horizontal Word, she utilizes hasty generalizations to outline the
stereotypes of the Midwest, and she also incorporates allusions to give outsiders a clear picture of
this portion of the United States.
Marquart incorporates hasty generalizations in her memoir to display the views that Americans
have surrounding the Midwest. Marquart states where all the women are strong, all the men are
good looking, and all the children are above average (Marquart 27). She is utilizing hasty
generalizations to display the stereotypes that surround the Midwest. By Marquart stating where all
the women are strong she is display hasty generalizations as not every woman who is from the
Midwest is strong (Marquart). She also exhibits hasty generalizations when she incorporates all the
men are good looking, and all the children are above average (Marquart). When she utilizes the
word all this makes this hasty generalization as not all men in the Midwest are handsome and not
every child is above average. Marquart also utilizes hasty generalization when she incorporates TV
news anchors hail from this part of the world, as do the most innocent female characters in movies
and prime time TV dramas. Being blond, fresh faced, and Midwestern makes their descent into

Analysis Of The Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad
The intentional purpose of the Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad is to increase their sales with a younger
crowd. PepsiCo tried incorporating cultural and political views into their ad to influence the
millennials to buy their product because the millennials are involved in and outspoken about the
current political situation. If one could only watch this commercial once they would think that
PepsiCois trying to make something to the equivalency of Coca Colas Share a Coke with the World
advertisement. As the audience watches from the beginning of the advertisement, they could see
that Pepsi was portraying Kendall Jenner as a Joan of Arc for today. Towards the climax of the
commercial, Kendall Jenner takes off her blonde wig as almost symbolizing that

Benefits Of Moving To The Usa Essay
Moving to the US can be an exciting if not slightly a daunting experience. For a start, everything
seems so much bigger, you re in a foreign country with new customs and a different culture to
embrace, not to mention your accent stands out like a sore thumb. But all joking aside, the USA
can be very strict on enforcing regulations, and as they can vary slightly from state to state, it s
worthwhile doing your research before you get on the plane. The following are some of the
regulations to consider when moving to the USA: VISA Before you board the plane and
organize any of your new life in America, you will have to apply for a visa. There are numerous
different types of visa to apply for depending on the nature of your circumstance. For instance,
are you planning to work over there, do you require a family based visa, or perhaps you d prefer to
be a green card holder, allowing you to enjoy many of the same rights as US citizens. Before you
move abroad, there s no way of knowing whether you ll easily and quickly adapt to life out there.
Whilst it is recommended to obtain a job and find somewhere to live before you go, and in some
of the states it will be obligatory to have secured employment prior to being given permission to
live there, you may end up finding it too hard to live away from your other relatives and friends,
or your kids may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stress free international relocation. Research your available options and make sure that they have

Why Did Nicole Simpson Murder
The Murder of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman
On June 12th of 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were stabbed to death by OJ
Simpson, Nicole s ex husband. Even though the jury from his trial found OJ not guilty, I along
with many others believe that he was responsible for taking the lives of Nicole Simpson and
Ronald Goldman.
Years before the couples divorce, OJ was charged with spousal abuse and was sentenced to
community service. Less than three years later Nicole filed for a divorce citing irreconcilable
differences. Obviously Nicole was no longer happy in their marriage after she had been abused,
so she decided to leave OJ. Simpson was probably pretty mad that his punching bag had left him,
so not too long after their divorce when he saw Nicole with some other man he was infuriated. OJ
Simpson went to Nicole s house and stabbed the two of them to death.
While investigating the crime scene, many items were that would lead ... Show more content on

Nicole and OJ had been seeing each other for some time before he divorced his first wife. Also,
the fact that Simpson had previously been charged with spousal abuse just furthers the believe that
he did not treat his wife the way she should have been treated. In 1989, when O.J. pleaded no
contest to a charge of spousal abuse (Price).
Many people may argue that since OJ Simpson didn t care at all about Nicole then why did he go
through so much trouble to kill her. Well, I believe that OJ was so angry that his old punching bag
was now out of his grasp and happy that couldn t stand it and killed her.
OJ Simpson is responsible for the deaths of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. There is quite a
bit of hard evidence that point to him as well as facts based on OJ and Nicole s history together.
Some of OJ s personal belongs were found on the scene. Evidence of abuse to Nicole lead to the
believe the OJ Simpson is cable of the murder of two

Jane Austen s Mansfield Park
Jane Austen s Novel, Mansfield Park, published in 1814, has caught the eyes of many readers after
being published. It had many different themes that depict different aspects of a society.
The focal point of this novel is on a character named Fanny Price, who is conflicted from two
different societies. At the beginning of the story, Fanny heads off to live with the Bertrams family.
As she is living with the Bertrams, she encounters another family who has different perspectives on
life and morals
Published in 1814, Jane Austen s novel Mansfield Park caught the eyes of many readers. This novel
focuses on the character Fanny Price. She is faced to experience two opposing societies. From the
beginning of the story, she is headed off to live with the Bertrams in Mansfield Park and then she
finds herself in an opposing society of the Crawfords. These two opposing societies are shown
differently by differing their morals. With seeing how these two different societies differ from each
other, makes this novel an interesting reading to see the transition from the Romantic era to the
Victorian era.
As the story places its focus on Fanny Price who is considered to be the main character, she is
considered to be the heroine of Mansfield Park. Fanny Price is the eldest daughter of a mother
from a wealthy family but her mother chose to marry for love and is dealing with living in
poverty with her siblings. From the young age of 10, Franny is sent to live with her mother s

The War That Didn t End All Wars
Four years, three months and two weeks later, in 1918, the global series of destructive events,
known as World War 1, that had begun when Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz
Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the throne of Austria Hungary finally came to an end. Resulting in
the victory of the allied forces, establishing a safer place for democracy for a very short period of
time. However it was not without a fight that this achievement came about, millions of troops
lost their lives to the deadly chemical weapons, tanks and other weaponry. The war had so many
devastating effects that British author H. G. Wells called it The war to end war , which now
can be seen as an erroneous comment. In his article, The War That Didn t End All Wars war
studies professor at King s college London, Sir Lawrence D. Freedman, quotes George Kennan s
words to describe the war as the great seminal catastrophe as the Great War led to the creation of
a broken intergovernmental organization known as the League of Nation, left Germany
completely destroyed financially and contributed to the collapse of the Austrian, Turkish and
Russian Empire. World War 1 did not end war; instead it not only paved the way for the biggest
war in history of mankind, World War 2, but also one of the worst genocides the world has ever
seen, the Holocaust. After the victory of the Allied forces, the Paris Peace Conference was held in
Paris to evaluate the consequences of the Central Powers. This Conference

Essay on The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford
The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States,
after gaining the position through extraordinary circumstances. His good will and friendly
demeanor helped him climb the political ladder higher than even he had anticipated. His career
in politics began with his law firm, yet ended up in the oval office. While his presidency was
short lived, it is remembered due to numerous crucial decisions he had to make. After graduating
from Yale with a law degree in 1941, Gerald R. Ford returned to his home town of Grand Rapids
Michigan to start a law firm with his friend Phillip Buchen. He also became active in local politics.
However, less than a year passed before he joined the Navy in 1942 to assist in... Show more

As a matter of fact, his route to the presidency was more circumstantial than intentional. In 1973,
Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned from office due to a kick back scandal ( Gerald R. Ford
Timeline 3). President Richard Nixon then decided to select Ford as the new vice president,
knowing that Ford s reputation in Congress would make him the only candidate both houses and
parties would accept. As the vice president, Ford was not very active. Even more so, he
intentionally chose to stay out of the way; perhaps because he did not want to be associated
with the actions and policies of the Nixon administration. Next, as is popular knowledge,
President Nixon resigned after the Watergate scandal came to light, leaving Ford to become the
President. Gerald R. Ford was sworn in on August 9, 1974, as the United State s 38th president.
In his inauguration speech, Ford was open about the bizarre circumstances that led to him
holding the position. He acknowledged to the people that he was not chosen by them for the job
as President. He continues to say, If you have not chosen me by secret ballot, neither have I
gained office by any secret promises. I have not campaigned either for the Presidency or the Vice
Presidency. I have not subscribed to any partisan platform. He spoke these words to show the
public who were skeptical of all politicians after the Watergate scandal that he could be trusted. He
knew without

  • 2. The Treatment Of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Essay Review of Literature With the use of several different search engines such as Medline, UpToDate, The new England journal of medicine, 2015 Toronto Notes, and Google scholar. The information was gathered using several key wards such as anterior cruciate ligament injury, anterior cruciate ligament treatment, anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation. The first study reviewed was a randomized control trial of treatment for ACL tears by, Frobell, Roos, Roos, Ranstam, Lohmander (2010) The two treatment modalities were early surgical treatment with rehabilitation, and aggressive early rehabilitation; with the option for later surgery if needed. This compares the major differences in thought on treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries between surgical and non surgical. (Frobell, Roos, Roos, Ranstan, Lohmander, 2010) This study was a randomized control trial in patients of 18 to 35 years of age, who presented to an emergency department with recent rational knee trauma to a previously uninjured knee within the last four weeks. Anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency was determined by clinical exam, and a score of five to nine on a tenner activity scale before the injury. 5 indicating participation in recreational sports and nine representing competitive sports. Possible participants were excluded if they had a full thickness rupture seen on magnetic resonance imaging, or if they have had a previous knee injury. • 3. broken hip with answer 4 Chief Complaint: 72 year old woman who fell on her right hip. History: Margaret Donovan, a 72 year old white female, was brought to the emergency room by her son in law after falling in her bathtub. She was previously in good health, despite leading a relatively sedentary lifestyle and having a 30 pack year history of cigarette smoking. The only medication she currently takes is Inderal (propranolol) for mild hypertension. She fell upon entering the bathtub when her right leg slipped out from under her; she landed on her right hip. There was no trauma to her head, nor does she complain of right or left wrist pain. However, she reports severe pain in the right hip and upper thigh, and was unable to get up after her fall. Given the above considerations, Margaret s osteoporotic femurs are vulnerable to fracture because of (A) the loss of spongy bone in the epiphyses and (B) the thinning of the bony collar in the diaphysis. 6. Describe the changes that a broken bone undergoes as it is healing. The bony collar of long bones helps them withstand compressive stress by the mechanism described in #4A above (i.e. hydroxyapatite, weight bearing pillars). In addition, long bones also withstand compressive forces by virtue of the spongy ( cancellous ) bone in the epiphyses. The interlocking network of bony plates (called trabeculae ) found in spongy bone help to distribute the weight of the body out to the tough bony collar of the diaphysis. In this way, bony plates act much like the trusses or struts in old time railroad bridges which distribute the weight of the train evenly over the entire bridge. 7. During her long recovery, Margaret is advised by her physician to begin weight bearing as soon as she can. How does weight bearing influence the process you described in question #6? (Be specific in your answer and describe what weight bearing does to bone at the microscopic level.) The most popular hypothesis regarding the effect of weight bearing on bone remodeling is called Wolff s law . Wolff s law states that bone grows and remodels in response to the mechanical stresses placed upon it (e.g. from muscle pull or gravitational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault is considered by many to be one of the greatest paintings of Romantic Art. Here I will discuss Romantic Art, some history behind the painting, the painting in general, and to prove why the first statement is true. If we are going to call this painting Romantic Art one must first know what it actually is or have some sort of idea what is counted as Romanticismor as something that Romantics would do. Romanticism celebrates the spontaneity and the use of the imagination. Abandoning tradition constraints of the art world to explore new and creative ways of expression. Possibly seen as intuitive individualism and primacy of feeling. Romantics didn t reject reason but though emotions were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He interviewed the survivors, drew mutilated corpses in the Paris morgue, and had a model created in his studio of the raft. The painting was 16 feet 1 inch by 23 feet 6 inches so it is huge in size and the dramatic impact was just as amazing. This gave the people a record of an event that happened in a time before photography. At first glance a viewer might just see people huddled on a raft together, a couple waving down a ship, and trying to get someone off canvases attention while others try to keep those who are weaker on the raft. But if they look closer they might notice other things of interest that are commonly found in Romanticism or Romantic Art. Gericault use of the double triangles in this image of the mast and rope help keep the main focus on the people on the raft who are dying or dead. Suffering against heat, dehydration, starvation, and forced to canalize each other to survive which is a true struggle against nature but also against ones self. It would be a very horrific and emotional experience for anyone to have to choose between eating another human being or dying of starvation. He focuses on the true emotion, the disgusting horror of the event, and what had to be done or was done to survive. • 7. Underbelly And Blackrock Analysis Australian crime drama s such as Underbelly and Blackrock are constructed to represent groups from Australian reality. These representations are designed to present ideas about groups, reinforcing what the audience, typically Australian, already knew and thought without changing the audience s perception completely. These groups of people are stereotyped, giving the audience a sense of reality and at the same time engaging. The following essay will analyse the representation of the criminal groups in the crimedramas of Underbelly and Blackrock. Blackrock is a screenplay written by Nick Enright that explores the crime of rape and how teenage boys deal with there associations to the crime. Underbelly is a hit TV drama that explores the streets of Melbourne during a time known as the gangland war (1998 2004) in which 36 criminals and citizens were murdered. Underbelly explores the mindsets and actions of the criminal calling and hiring the murders. The two dramas construct the main criminals in different ways, but with the outcome being the same grotesque and evil characters. Underbelly achieves this through the use of visual feature which characterises the criminals, the perspective of the victims also is used to construct the criminals in Underbelly. Blackrock also uses the perspective of the victims to constructs the criminals in the text but by being a play the use of written conventions is dominant. The Age of Reform was a social reform, or an attempt to improve upon issues in society, occurred in America during the mid 1800 s. Reform movements such as public education and women s rights both made essential impacts on American Society. One of the many changes in the Age of Reform was the reform of public education. Originally, the rights of American women were minor. Women could not vote, serve on juries, or attend colleges among other restrictions. Women like Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton fought long and hard for civil, religious, and social rights of American women. Stanton wrote the Declaration of Sentiments which was modeled after the Declaration of Independence. This declaration demanded equality of men and women. Women s suffrage, or the right to vote, was another struggle for the women to overcome. These women did win some small victories such as convincing New York to pass a law protecting women s property rights, and some states even began to allow married women to keep their wages. Education also improved for women. American schools were focused on educating boys, who would grow up to be voters, so Emma Willard started The Troy Female Seminary. Eventually, Mary Lyon built Mount Holyoke Female Seminary, which was the first college for women, although it was not called a college at the time. Even though education improved for women, it would not be until 1920 that a constitutional amendment would be made to allow women to vote. Compare And Contrast The Tea Act And The American Revolution The Sugar Act, or the American Revenue Act of 1764, was an imposed tax on the colonies from Great Britain that put extra taxes on silk, sugar, and coffee. The colonists were angry, not only because they had to pay extra for these items, but also because it gave the customs officers of the colonies more power ( The American Revolution). They were now allowed to search warehouses and ships for smuggled goods. Additionally, if people were accused of smuggling, they would no longer have to go through colonial civil courts, but instead they would go through vice admiralty courts (Sugar act). • 12. Implementation Of Characters And Platform Design Implementation characters platform design Most of the detached body and platform elements were imported through asset store of Unity and the rest of them were found online, which saves lots of time for us in preparation phase. We designed totally three characters by splicing all the individual parts of the body then created 4 animations, running, jumping, standing and idly for each. The most important part when doing this is setting the layers and the hierarchical structure of parts of the body to be more lifelike according to the real physical model. Similarly, the animations of each character meet the needs of actions in game time. Figure 3 places the basic profile of characters we designed. Figure 3. With distinguished layers of the objects in scenes, we could use camera s culling mask to render objects or write special events for certain layers. For example, background layer is for the basic background of the platform while front ground is the front landscape up forward the players and tiles. In addition, each year and group of students is different so I adjust the papers they write based on the level of the group and the needs of the individual student. We work together on planning our papers through a step by step scaffolding process and modeling so that students have assistance with the planning process. The next stage is for me to walk around to monitor the students and determine what assistance they need. I check for understanding of the assignment and make suggestions as needed and to confirm they will be able to write this paper. During this time, I will assist them with any spelling issues they may have. In addition, I conference one on one with each student and will help them with spelling during this time. Experimentation has been preformed, both psychological and biological, yet no one can definitively state what purpose dreams serve, or what they mean. Since there is no one answer to the question of dream interpretation, the best you can hope for is to learn about several of the existing approaches and determine what you will choose to believe. All of the approaches to understanding dreams reflect the movement of societal thought. The initial beliefs involved gods, temples, and faith. At the times when the cultural beliefs on dreams were established the explanations for most worldly events involved these elements. As time passed society, particularly Western society, became more individual oriented. With this came the psychological approaches to dreams. These approaches reflect the general tenets of the psychology of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They look for answers to the workings of the human psyche by delving into the subconscious, which was presumed to be shaped by either childhood experiences, repressed desires, or a collective unconscious. Building And Evaluating Experiential Learning Mechanisms Building and evaluating experiential learning mechanisms requires a deep understanding of not only general learning theory, but also the principal ways in which material can be taught to students. According to authors of Effective Instruction for Stem Disciplines: From Learning Theory to College Teaching, there are numerous traditional learningmethods that are important for our background. The first, which they call study based, is based on student focus on materials, without a strong active component. For most students, especially those of younger ages, this likely occurs most at home, where students independently study for traditional examinations. The second traditional learning method, retrieval, they describe as the conversion of study based learning into an active learning method. Retrieval encourages students to practice accessing information to make it so regular that using it in later informational synthesis is already simple. The third traditional learning method, which they call schema building, is learning based on situational practice, ensuring that students can appropriate handle the real life aspects and applications of a concept (Mastascusa et al., 2011). Unfortunately, these traditional methods of learning are not always indicative of modern, dynamic education. More modern learning techniques provide students with a far more interactive experience. In one such method, students combine the first and third aforementioned traditional study methods. Students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oftentimes it may go to extremity where the individual begins to lose their own identity in attempts to fulfill a different one. Coley Cooper AP Lang Comp 10 December 2014 Composition: Analysis Chapter Nine, The Leech from the Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the most iconic books in history; its storyline, theme and literal characters have made an impact on the world of literature for hundreds of years. What stands out the most in the book is the use of archaic diction and figurative language, which serve to paint vivid, descriptive pictures of each character, specifically, Roger Chillingworth. In chapter nine of The Scarlet Letter, The Leech , Nathaniel Hawthorne uses setting, allusion, metaphor, irony, diction, and tone to reveal Roger Chillingworth, the town Leech s, evil, ominous character displayed by his actions and words. Throughout chapter nine of The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne places Chillingworth in or near the cemetery by the widow s house, an ominous setting that foreshadows his death. During the book as a whole, Chillingworth usually pops up in spooky settings, such as Hester s jail cell, the woods, Dimmesdale s dark lit room, and the scaffold at night, these all playing into the eerie nature of Chillingworth himself. Digital formats have gradually replaced the film for many reasons: space efficient, inexpensive, immediate and unlimited (Pavlik McIntosh 2014, pp. 223 224). This is because physical films not only cost more but are also inconvenient to print, deliver and preserve. Meanwhile, the transfer of data by using digital tools is extremely fast and easy, whether through a computer or via satellite. For example, traditional types of film reels, such as the 35mm or 70mm, have given place for high capacity hard drives (Dixon Foster 2011, p. 22). Pavlik McIntosh (2014) also emphasize that while the digital data still need to be kept in a physical storage, it is still far more space saving than that needed by an analog form. Well 5 was a shallow well, and all of the water drawn from the well came from a very shallow area. This water was drawn from an area of highly fractured bedrock. This fracturing, and the geological nature of the surrounding bedrock, made it possible for surface bacteria to quickly enter into the fractured rock (O Connor, 2002, pp.166). In her memoir to the Midwest, she gives descriptive views that many Americans have surrounding the Midwest. Marquart also gives a description of the Midwest s history and even how many people overlooked the Midwest as they declared the region a dreary plain, wholly unfit for cultivation, and, of course, uninhabitable by people depending upon agriculture for subsistence (Marquart 39). Debra Marquart expands off the idea of how the Midwest was overlooked by including her grandparents views as they that were immigrants from Russia. They saw the Midwest as a new opportunity of life and they were excited to receive their allotments of land (Marquart 73). In Debra Marquart s memoir, The Horizontal Word, she utilizes hasty generalizations to outline the stereotypes of the Midwest, and she also incorporates allusions to give outsiders a clear picture of this portion of the United States. Marquart incorporates hasty generalizations in her memoir to display the views that Americans have surrounding the Midwest. Marquart states where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average (Marquart 27). She is utilizing hasty generalizations to display the stereotypes that surround the Midwest. By Marquart stating where all the women are strong she is display hasty generalizations as not every woman who is from the Midwest is strong (Marquart). She also exhibits hasty generalizations when she incorporates all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average (Marquart). Even though the jury from his trial found OJ not guilty, I along with many others believe that he was responsible for taking the lives of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Resulting in the victory of the allied forces, establishing a safer place for democracy for a very short period of time. President Richard Nixon then decided to select Ford as the new vice president, knowing that Ford s reputation in Congress would make him the only candidate both houses and parties would accept. As the vice president, Ford was not very active. Even more so, he intentionally chose to stay out of the way; perhaps because he did not want to be associated with the actions and policies of the Nixon administration. Next, as is popular knowledge, President Nixon resigned after the Watergate scandal came to light, leaving Ford to become the President. Gerald R. Ford was sworn in on August 9, 1974, as the United State s 38th president. In his inauguration speech, Ford was open about the bizarre circumstances that led to him holding the position. He acknowledged to the people that he was not chosen by them for the job as President. He continues to say, If you have not chosen me by secret ballot, neither have I gained office by any secret promises. I have not campaigned either for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency.
