Each year there are 76 million cases of food poisoning in the US and most go unreported. Food
poisoning and foodborne illnesses are more of a threat than many people think. The CDC reports that
about 325 thousand people are hospitalized each year due to food poisoning and 5,000 people die
every year. For many people they do not even know that they are eating tainted or contaminated food.
The biggest thing that people can do is to wash their foods thoroughly and cook foods all the way
through. Harmful microbes can only be correctly killed using heat, whether it is washing your foods
