Was Captain Prestons Justified
On March 5, 1770 in Boston, the large mob of Bostonians tormented Captain Thomas Preston s
soldiers, who were watching the Customs House Building. One of the soldiers fired at the Bostonians,
which resulted in the rest of the soldiers firing at the Bostonians. Someone from the crowd screamed
for the soldiers to fire. This caused five of the Bostonians, including Crispus Attucks, who were shot
by Preston s men. Captain Preston s men were put on trial, and were charged with the murder of the
five Bostonians. Eventually, Preston was found innocent. The verdict of innocent in the trial of Preston
is justified because Preston tried to persuade his men to not engage in a fight with the Bostonians. His
lack of motive to murder the Bostonians and peaceful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Palmes shows that he is unsure who encouraged the shooting when he recalls I dont know who gave
the word fire...Captain might have given the word and I not distinguish it. There is not any concrete
evidence that proves that Preston is guilty because it is unclear if Preston truly did order his men to
fire. However, Preston s avoiding for violence and wanting for a peaceful approach is confirmed by
some witnesses like Theodore Bliss. Bliss declares that ...I did not hear any Order given by Capt. to
fire. I stood so near him I...might have heard him if he had given an order to fire . Theodore Bliss
confirms Preston s deposition by claiming that Preston did not order his men to fire. Not only does
Theodore Bliss state this, but Edward Hill, Daniel Cornwall, Newton Prince, and James Goodwall
state similarly that they also saw that they did not see or did not believe that Preston ordered the men
to fire. This shows that Preston describes what he said and did at the Boston Massacre truthfully
because witnesses like Bliss have accounts of the Boston Massacre that are similar to that of Preston s.
This evidence helps support that Preston had taken a peaceful approach and is

Preserving Biological Evidence
The collection of biological evidence at a crime scene is vital to the success of the overall case.
Biological evidence is extremely sensitive and requires handle with care during its collection.
Preserving biological evidence is also a significant task as well, and attention must be taken to ensure
the preservation of any and all biological evidence in the exact state from its original collection
location. Many types of biological evidence can be found at a crime scene and in this essay, we will
discuss many different types, the necessary process of collection and preservation, and what
procedures are to ensure the safety of each sample.
One of the most common biological forms of evidence found at a crime scene is hair. Often found in a
variety of crime scenes is hair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before an investigator begins the gathering of evidence, they must keep in mind that they must treat
the site in a professional manner. Biological evidence must go through the photographic process first.
The location and its relativity to the crime scene must first go through the process of photographs,
sketches, and notes before it receives disruption. Different positions and shapes of bloodstains can
provide additional information to the crime. Furthermore, an immediate evaluation of any blood
evidence is may be necessary. Only an expert should be called to perform an on site overview of the
crime scene to predict the criminal activity and movements of the persons involved. It is not
acceptable to collect blood samples or DNA samples before the expert completes this task. The
individual that receives the evidence must handle all biologically stained materials with care and keep
personal contact to a minimum to preserve the evidence and ward off any contamination. Body fluids
may be tainted and should receive treatment as so, which means that wearing gloves and changing
them regularly is a

The Sun Also Rises Modernism Analysis
During the early twentieth century, the philosophical and artistic movement of Modernism permeated
the world of literature. Thusly, Modernism, as a philosophy, is defined through the loss of traditional
values and meaning in life; men, women and all people are isolated and alone, unable to fully
communicate through language. Modernist writers portray the world as a harsh and unjust place in
which their characters struggle alone with unrealistic and futile dreams. With this in mind, The Sun
Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway is a novel that details the story of Jacob Barnes and his circle of
friends. Most of the friends, including Jake, are World War I veterans who have been harshly afflicted
by their experiences in the war and heavily indulge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jake tries to be a good Catholic; he goes to the Cathedral and he prays in a very scattered way, first for
his friends, then bullfighters, then money, and then his mind wanders onto other subjects. Jake tries to
be a good Catholic by praying and attempting to be spiritual, but much like his own spirituality, his
prayer is choppy. He does not usually go to church nor does he usually pray. Jake does not feel
religious, and this is what he deduces makes him such a rotten Catholic. He regrets this notion and this
is a symptom of a much larger problem for Jake: he craves authenticity and spirituality and innocence,
but he has been corrupted by the great war. It took not only his fertility but also his spiritual potency.
Further proof of his desire for spiritual authenticity and purity is when he sees Pedro Romero, the
young, talented, and captivating young Spanish bullfighter, in a bullfight. Jake

consistently gain ground on the Axis forces. On May 7, the Allies took Tunis and soon took the

Essay on De Tocqueville
Alexis De Tocqueville, Democracy in America
Aristocracy is a phenomenon that is perhaps as natural a summer crop, and as devastating as the
locusts that eat it. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s position on aristocracy is quite clear. He is a strong
advocate of the aristocracy, it is a part of the natural order and necessary. His position may have some
basis, however I have yet to see the amp;#8220;upside ; of a caste system or a good defense of it.
De Tocqueville believes that aristocracy provides stability and fellowship. De Tocqueville
amp;#8217;s support of aristocracy is weak and ill founded. His first point of aristocracy is that of
stability, amp;#8220;Among aristocratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A community bound by social class is often referred to as a slaving society. The people at the bottom
of this system are indebted to those above with nowhere else to turn. The man who is bound to another
of a higher class is most likely to be exploited, for in an aristocratic society one has only the
aristocrats to turn to for justice. Unfortunately, a man needs justice most when he is mistreated by the
aristocracy.
The aristocracy is amp;#8220;closely attached to something placed out of their own sphere, ; is
another idea that De Tocqueville had of the aristocracy. In reality, the aristocracy probably had very
little to do with anything outside of their amp;#8220;sphere ;. He also claims that amp;#8220;they are
often disposed to forget themselves. ;. If aristocrats thought about anything besides themselves, then
perhaps they would have eased some of the suffering in the world. They could not know or care about
anything that was not in their immediate world. It is unlikely that they would be so out of their

cared. It does not hurt the aristocrat if families live on the street.

Biological Features Of The Booty
The booty (plural: booties,) also known as the bandonkadonk, junk in the trunk or simply butt, is two
rounded portions of gluteal muscle located on the posterior pelvic region. Anatomically, the structure
enables weight to be taken off the feet while sitting; however, in many cultures the masses of fat play
a role in sexual attraction. Many find the swaying of the hips, which jiggles and bounces the booty, to
be exceptionally arousing when featured on a female. Recently, this ideology has been sensationalized
in the realm of popular culture and mass media. If you tune into the radio, you ll hear lyrics about
bubble butts. If you turn on the television, you ll see touches twerking. And if you tap into your social
media you ll read about famous fannies like Kim Kardashian and Iggy Azalea s. However, both men
and women have this biological feature that functions in the exact way, so why are there such double
standards, complexes, and obsessions with the female butt? According to Vogue magazine, we are
officially in the era of the big booty (Garcia, 2014). Likewise, 2014 has been dubbed The Year Of The
Booty (Ball, 2014). Meaning, today, the measure of a woman s sex appeal is directly linked to the
prominence of her behind. While music videos have long been critiqued for reproducing distorted
ideologies of women s sexuality, recent research suggests that female artists are more likely to
sexually objectify themselves in their own music videos than male artists

Reliability And Availability Evaluation Of A System Switched
RELIABILITY AND AVAILABILITY EVALUATION OF A SYSTEM SWITCHED TO ANOTHER
SIMILAR, SUBSTITUTE OR DUPLICATE SYSTEM ON TOTAL FAILURE
ABSTRACT
A two unit standby system is considered with two types of repair facilities. One facility repairs one
unit at a time and other facility repairs both the units simultaneously. When both the units fail, if unit
can be repair in short time then repair will be continued, otherwise in order to improve availability
another substitute system taken from outside is used, which is guaranteed for failure free operation.
Assuming failure and repair times as exponentially distributed, Expressions for the mean time to
system failure (MTSF), the steady state availability and busy period for system are derived using
linear first order differential equations. A particular case for the proposed system is discussed in which
substitute system was not considered. Also comparison is performed graphically to observe the effect
of the proposed system on Availability.
Keywords: Availability, Linear first order differential equation, Mean Time to System Failure,
Reliability, Steady State Availability.

Personality Change And Age Difference
Barbara Sarfo PSY 437 Advanced Research Method 07/20/2015 Personality Change and Age
Difference Does the age difference have something to do with people change in their personality? A.
Specific Aim The age an individual feels is related to changes in characteristic ways of thinking,
feeling, and behaving over time. As people aged, they become more mature and they approach thing
differently and that in a way has effects their personality either positively or negatively. The aim of the
study was to find out if age difference has anything to do with personality change. B. Introduction
Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors. My understanding of
personality is simply a genetic and environmentally determined set of psychological traits that
influence our reactions in the world around us. Genetic because our parents possess a certain set of
psychological personality traits that we tend to have in common with them so therefore in my opinion
there are heritable personality traits. Personality is environmental because we each have our own
separate experiences in the world and these experiences help form our unique personality. Neo
Freudians such as Jung have given us a wide array of ideas of how they believe personality is
developed and formatted. Jung in particular has a very interesting take on personality. It is this theory
that I can most resonate with and apply to myself and even friends and family of mine. Current

The Framework Popper Is An Intellectual Framework
The framework Popper is talking about is an intellectual framework. A neutral question is without
bias, informative leading, and isn t influenced by outside sources to receive the truest and most neutral
response; however, I define a neutral question as to be neutral in order to truth without a hidden
meaning within its structure, the opposite would be a leading question that encourages a desired
answer. So, there is no such thing as a neutral observation or perceiving something as neutral. The
statement suggests that areas of knowing lead us in a certain direction. By asking a question, one seeks
knowledge beyond a neutral way. What is the effect of bias on asking questions? Is prior knowledge of
something necessary before asking a question? Can we ask a question without context? How do areas
of knowing affect the neutrality of a question? The areas of knowing that will be looked at will be
natural science and history as scientists and historians find answers by beginning with questions and
observations. Several assumptions can be made such as if neutral questions are impossible then
everything carries bias. In order to ask a question and answer it, there can be no neutrality. All
questions are leading questions. It is impossible and possible to have a neutral question; this essay will
discuss the extent to which the statement is valid in natural science and history. There is no such thing
as a neutral question. Everything in science has a goal or ending that is trying to

One of my reasons it things such as the Roswell Incident just don t happen for reason. The
government just doesn t leave with something covered up so it is not seen by the eyes of the residents

Examples Of Ghost In Hamlet
Hamlet: Belief of Ghost from a Psychological Perspective Psychological factors can be seen as the
reason people believe in ghost. It could be because their minds have the concept of ghost wired into
them because of genetics or because of intuition and the thought of ghost. People could also have
psychological tendencies, such as depression and dissociation, which make them think they have seen
ghost. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, The main character hamlet is struggling with the
belief in ghost. In the beginning of the play Hamlet talks to his father s ghost. The ghost tells him to

humans minds got more open to ghost concepts. The idea of people s minds being open to ghost
concepts could explain why many early civilizations took care of burring their dead in a respectable
manor. Boyer also states that ghost concepts could be intuitive. That the thought of ghosts produce

The Future Of Enlightenment Topic In The 18th Century
The Future of Enlightenment

Tutorial # 3
Enlightenment was a prevalent topic in the 18th century. In 1784 Kant, Immanuel wrote An Answer to
the Question: What is Enlightenment?. In which Kant sheds light on the distinction between public
and private reason using many different instances. Kant proposes that public use of freedom is
essential for enlightenment, but says the private reason is not as useful as public. Similarly, this paper
will argue that public freedom can more effectively lead to enlightenment, but private reasoning can
also lead to enlightenment using present day examples, comparing past and present circumstances and
indulging into the outcome of both private and public reasons.
Kant explains, Enlightenment is man s emergence from his self imposed immaturity. Immaturity is the
inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (Kant, 35). Although immaturity in
today s linguistic language is thought of as being irresponsible or childish, Kant however uses
immaturity to describe the incapability to be able to think on your own. Additionally Kant explains
that an immature person becomes so dependent on others to make his decisions that he overlooks
thinking for himself. Kant uses an analogy of restrained animals, like cattle and how they will not dare
take a single step without go cart to which they

The Five Stages Of Team Development
At some point of our academic or professional history, we were required to work with our peers, we
know or barely know. This opportunity are great instrument to learn and expand our experience and
social circle. Initially it could be stressful, and time consuming, but if done well the result would be
extremely rewarding, it is called teamwork.
Insert teamwork definition
Why is teamwork essential?
Five Stages of Team Development
In 1965, a professor of psychology at the Ohio State University, Bruce Tuckman propose the five
stages of group development (Andersen Bolt, 2011, p. 161). Tuckman strongly suggest the norm order
for team to grow as one coordinated group.
Teamwork plays a fundamental role in providing a high quality service and achieving
accomplishments. Most teams usually go through five stages of development in order for them to
successfully meet their group s purpose. Here is the five stages of team development:
1. Forming stage is the first phase of team development. This is the period where the first impression
will initially form. The team begins as soon as they are created. The individuals will be formerly
introduced to their peers, they have to work with. Members would still be wary and cautious of their
surroundings. In addition, this is the stage where the members will determine, how they will organize
their approach in order to meet their desired goals.
2. Storming stage is the second phase of team development. This is when the conflict between the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Market Based Optimal Power...
Optimal power flow is defined as fulfilling the power requirements of consumer s with least outlay of
power generation. OPF is a functional unit that reduces the production expenditure, bus voltage
divergences and losses which enhances the structure functionality by fulfilling some restraints. The
nature of some of the variables follows continuity with real output of power and voltage and few other
variables in OPF is discrete with phase shifters, reactive injections and tap settings in transformers
which is considered to be major problem. OPF problem was resolved by several traditional
optimization techniques.
Market based optimal power flow
In this a power pool model is developed which includes the one sided auction market in OPF. A hourly

Chuck s Experiences During World War II
To him, nothing came close to the feeling of being ten thousand feet in the air (Jones). Charles Nelson
seemed to have been born for the skies, even from a young age Charles Nelson, more commonly
known as Chuck, knew exactly what he was gonna do when he was older. He was gonna be a pilot,
and he wasn t gonna let anything or anybody stop him. He would share his hopes and dreams with his
first cousin, my grandfather, Tom Jones. Chuck was older than Tom and as result Tom came to respect
Chuck, from this grew a bond that allowed Chuck to feel safe enough to share his dreams with Tom.
Little did Chuck know that his dreams would lead him right into one of the largest wars of all time,

World War II was an event that truly left a mark on history, it is probably one of the most famous wars

Tax Advice Privilege Case Study
I. Identified Issues Several problems have resulted from the current interpretation of §7525. First, the
fact that there are many/more cases where assertion of the tax advice privilege is denied shows that it
is not understood (obviously, it can be a litigation/stalling technique, but
misinformation/misunderstanding can be a big part of it too). Second, uniform adoption/recognition of
the proper name of the privilege can help dispel incorrect assumptions or inferences/impressions. Don

The statute says that anything with a CPA is privileged if same stuff is privileged if with an attorney.
But courts have shown that this is not the case. Unlike attorney work product, accountant work
product is not privileged. Some communications that otherwise may be privileged are not because
they are included in mixed/dual purpose communications/documents. The language of the statute
could be amended to eliviate this confusion. Instead of saying stuff is protected if it would be
protected with an attorney, the statute should outline what is protected (normally you wouldn t want to
list everything out not economical but since courts have stripped scope down so much, it s easier to
just be clear about the few things that actually are privileged [litigation prep]. Fourth, use of the vague
phrase tax advice , coupled with the lack of any statutory definition of such phrase leads to disputes
between parties as to what constitutes tax advice. Case law is replete with examples of parties
claiming communications contained tax advice merely because tax issues were discussed. If courts
have interpreted tax advice to be a narrow definition, the statute should be amended to avoid further

frantically worked to build a fortification, a redoubt, and a rail fence that extended from the hill to the
shore. 1 The British soon noticed the structure, and at 0200 British sentries notified General Howe of
the activities. However, like General Gage, Howe regarded the Colonists militia as an undisciplined
and untrained group of amateurs. So he dismissed the actions of the Colonists and did not immediately
notify Gage. Howe s failure to report the Colonists activities serves as Gage s first mistake in the
operations process of mission command. Gage rightfully viewed his army and navy as superior to the
Colonists militia in every way. He knew the British military had hundreds of years experience at war,
were uncontested at sea, had conquered two continents, and were better armed. He also knew the
Colonists had little experience at war, no naval force, and limited arms and munitions. In
consideration of these facts Gage did not recognize the Colonists as a viable threat. Moreover, he
completely underestimated the power of their resolve as well as their capabilities. Subsequently, he
didn t feel the need to create Commander s

Stormbreaker Essay Quotes
Theme
Don t give up, even in the worst times. Sometimes you are faced with a challenge that makes you
wanna give up and stop trying but, you should never give up, even at the worst time. The novel
Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, is about a 14 year old boy named Alex Rider which becomes a
spy at 14 after his Uncle died and his first mission is to find information about Sayle Enterprises,
owned by Herod Sayle, and why they are going to donate hundreds of computers to england. In this
mission, Alex is able to enter the building as a teen testing the Stormbreaker but, still has to go
through multiple challenges, some easier than others, to find out what Sayle Enterprises is doing.
Throughout this novel, a constant theme I saw was to not give up, even in the worst times. ... Show

The novel Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz uses description effectively. An example is, Alex hears
a knock on the door, it was a butler named Mr.Grin, he told him to follow him and Mr.Grin begins to
open a door. There was a green glow as his fingerprints were read, and a moment later, the door slid
soundlessly open. Everything was different on the other side of the door. From the art and elegance of
the main house, Alex could have stepped in to the next century (102) By using a lot of descriptions, is
easier to picture what Alex is seeing and what is happening. Another example is, after alex got caught
and punched by Mr.grin and alex waked up His head was thumping and the side of his face was
swollen where Mr. Grin had hit him. His arms were twisted behind him and the tendons in his
shoulder were on fire. (178) Especially in a book with action and some violence, being descriptive
really helps because you are able to see and read what is happening and what they are feeling. Hence,
the description used in Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz is effective. Description in a book can
make very realistic, maybe too

How Fashion Professionals Are Inspired by History and Culture
How fashion professionals are inspired by history and culture?
It has long been claimed that fashion is a repetition of well forgotten old. For centuries, designers
drew inspiration from ancient cultures and traditions, ancient civilizations, mythical gods and exotic
countries. Often the Greek goddesses, who have long manipulated the arts and war, intervened also in
fashion. For years the dresses are current, familiar from mythology and the movies with mythological
themes naked shoulder, enchanting sets, lavish tale folds and embellishments of gold.
Retro trends, which also inspired designers, recently make an impact and in their collections.
One of the most inspired collections in autumn and winter this year is Marc Jacobs, who ... Show

leather with knew length or mini skirt combined with a turtleneck and jacket, or dresses combined

and decorated with lace are part of the nightly visions. There is a lot of accessorizes that complete the
outfits. Wide belts, emphasizing the waist, unique boots that are again knee high, reminding leg

Street culture and art is Jean Paul Gautier s new autumn/winter collection for this year. He presents his
favorite punk themes in the form of colorful rebellious hair, combined with visions entirely made of
smooth black leather. The designer uses natural fur in the form of large collars or ironically mixed it
with artificial materials in the form of hair coats in neon colors. The main reason given in the

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Conan
In the history of British literature, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ranks highly amongst the most famous
authors of all time. Mention his name, and most people will immediately think of one thing; Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle equates to Sherlock Holmes.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was certainly much more than his most famous creation, and away from his
most famous creation, his life was full of interesting and strange facts and events.
NAME
It is common to see Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s name shortened to just Conan Doyle, Conan though,
was not part of his surname, and was in fact just one of his two middle names. Conan Doyle s full
name was Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle. It was only when he started his professional career that

SPORT
The practices run by Conan Doyle were not particularly successful, and so Conan Doyle would often

It is often said that Conan Doyle is one of the world s most famous goalkeepers; Conan Doyle though

Portsmouth FC as is often said as fact. Portsmouth FC was founded in 1898, whilst Portsmouth AFC

Racial Equality In America Essay
Throughout the history of America, there has been constant problems with the quest for racial equality.
In three different time periods; early views on race, civil rights movement, and the fight for equality in
America, how race is deceived has been altered in a variety of ways. To this day society in America
has not fully accessed complete racial equality, but have furthered the advance to achieve it in creating
more laws that design equality among everyone. In early American history there was very little racial
equality. This was the time most people tried to create ways to keep unequal treatment between the
two races. For instance, to keep enforcing whites to a higher standard than African Americans after
slavery a law known as Jim Crow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

They didn t intervene and try to help persuade people to do the right thing, but instead just watch from

Free Will Of The Media
Free will of the media carries with it certain responsibilities of truthfulness, equality, accurateness and
liability. I will talk about issues involving to media accountability in the present day. The media are
responsible for the greater part of the explanation and experience from which we construct up our
individual perceptive of the humanity and how it works. Our view of realism is based on media
communication that has been constructed and has attitude, interpretation and conclusion build in.
Lacking mass media, sincerity and liability are unattainable in present day democracy. Freedom of the
media carries with it convinced tasks of openness, justice, truthfulness and responsibility. The control
of the media to form and tear down individual morals comes with enormous duty. The Oxford English
Dictionary define the word responsible as having the commitment to do something, as part of one s
occupation or task: or having power over or concern for someone, accountable to be called to the
description. Responsibility is defined as the condition or reality of being liable, the capability to act
alone and make a decision, the status of being accountable for one s presentation according to the
conditions of reference of the Code of Professional Conduct. Collectively, peoples tasks are the thing
for which they are held responsible, failure to release an accountability render one responsible for

Wichita State University Abstract
In the present scenario of manufacturing, agile manufacturing calls for flexibility in the global market
which involves rapid changes. Flexible manufacturing technology such as agent manufacturing plays a
vital role to achieve agility in the system. (Yeung, W. 2012) in job shop floor the project scheduling
technique provides the dynamic and unique way of dispatching the jobs if there is any variabilities in
the manufacturing system, resources, production disturbances and irregular arrival of products. The
main emphasis is designing the network schedules which will be applicable to be implemented in a
competitive operating condition. These software scheduling tools will be able to represent the
manufacturing tasks, sub tasks, work system and people involved. (Wang, 2015) using simulation
tools, the performance of a (simulated) multi agent manufacturing system under particular operating
conditions can be analyzed in terms of. Simulation models are developed based on current system to
eliminate bottlenecks, to prevent under or over utilization of resources, and to optimize system
performance.

A Christmas Memory Short Story
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls
blossom, Marcel Proust said. This quote suggests how being grateful for the people that you feel close
to, will make you feel happier. A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote takes place during the Great
Depression in a small Southern town. A seven year old boy named Buddy, and his friend are hit by the
Great Depression. They do not have very many possessions, only basic necessities. The holidays are
right around the corner so Buddy and his friend decide to make fruit cakes for all of their friends, even
though they do not have much. They end up not having much money to get each other something for
Christmas. In the end, they both decide that having each other is enough, and that they re both very
grateful for one other. One lesson that is taught in the story, is that often, people tend to only be
grateful for materialistic things. However, in this story they re grateful for one another. Similarly, in
the short story The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry expresses the same theme of gratefulness through the
development of the character traits and character conflicts. Both stories show that being grateful for
the people that you feel close to, will make you feel happier.
From the very beginning in both stories by Capote and Henry, gratefulness has been shown through
description of both characters, Buddy and Della. Buddy is grateful that him and his distant cousin
have become best friends. We are cousins, very distant ones, and we have lived together well, as long
as I can remember. Other people inhabit the house, relatives; and though they have power over us, and
frequently make us cry, we are not, on the whole, too much aware of them. We are each other s best
friend. She calls me Buddy, in memory of a boy who was formerly her best friend (Capote). This line
illustrates that Buddy s distant cousin has taken care of him for as long as he can remember. Buddy is
grateful that it has brought them close, they re each other s best friends. Another example of
gratefulness is shown through Dellas thoughts and feelings. She is grateful for Jim, because she
wanted to get him a nice Christmas present. As soon as she saw it, she knew

The Border Of The United States
The Unlawful border crossing in the U.S. Southern border has been of political interest for the past
decades. It has been the primary source of the illegal trades into U.S. from Mexico. Despite the
government efforts to end the act, there have not been long term solutions to the Menace. The vital
approach is to understand the structural nature of the border and the socio cultural nature of the
inhabitants that facilitates the illegal act across the border. The lawful bill in place seems not to offer a
practical solution to combating the problem. The existing border and immigration policies should be
revised to provide a possible settlement to the illegal trade across the borders. Also, the border barriers
should be adequately constructed and guarded with border security officials. Another crucial area for
consideration is the cooperation between the two countries in combating the illegal trade across the
border. A cross border initiative like Merida by President Bush would have been the significant
initiative in promoting the U.S. Mexico cross border collaboration in combating the Illegal Border
Crossings. Due to the well coordinated nature of these criminal networks, full federal cooperation like
Boarder Enforcement Security Taskforce (BEST) should act in combating the organized gangs.
Fixing the ruined southern border of the USA There has been an increase of unlawful border crossings
as well as the rise in cross border crimes such

Information Communications Technologies And Social Media...
Executive Summary
Technology has had a huge impact on education in recent years. Although there has been an increase
in learning methods, technology has also made students increasingly distracted. This subsequently
gave rise to the increasing need for teachers to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom. To
make sure that their students stay focused and to fully utilize the potential of technology, Ministry of
Education (MOE) Singapore must leverage on its main resource, teachers. MOE should utilize
technologies such as collaborative technologies and social media where teachers can be present to
facilitate. The effectiveness of these strategies would depend on the efforts of the teachers. MOE
should provide proper incentives to these teachers and implement quotas or requirements for teachers
to meet.
Position: Planner
Reader of Report: Minister of Education
Purpose of Report: To support MOE in its endeavour to create an Information Communications
Technologies (ICT) infused curriculum for their students.
Introduction
MOE is responsible for fostering a climate of literacy in Singaporean students for generations through
creating and implementing education policies. The Compulsory Education Act (Cap 51) requires
students aged between 6 and 15 years old to attend national primary and secondary schools, which
makes up the main bulk of MOE s customers (MOE,2016). There is a small minority that are
exempted from this compulsory system such as students with special

The Venus figurines are a collection of 144 known statuettes from the Paleolithic era representing
women. They have been found in many different places including Europe, Siberia and even the

Those figurines are also considered one of the earliest known work of the Paleolithic era.

Surprisingly the name Venus given to those statuettes has no connection with the Roman Goddess

The Effect Of Temperature On Rate Of Enzyme Activity
Period 1
10/05/15
The Effect of Temperature on Rate of Enzyme Activity of Different Enzymes
Abstract/Purpose:
The main objective of this experiment was to determine how different factors, such as the type of
enzyme and the temperatures that each of the enzymes were exposed to, could affect the rate of
enzyme activity. In order to measure this, a potato enzyme and liver enzyme were placed in four
different temperatures for 24 hours. Each enzyme was then placed in a test tube with hydrogen
peroxide and the rate of enzyme activity was measured. The result was that the rate of enzyme activity
decreased as the temperature increased for the liver enzyme, but increased for the potato enzyme.
Introduction/Hypothesis:
An enzyme is usually a protein that works as a catalyst, which is anything that helps to speed up, or
catalyze, the chemical reaction (Bolster Moss, n.d.). To speed up a chemical reaction, enzymes lower
the activation energy, which is the initial energy required for a reaction to occur by applying heat.
However, enzymes are very substrate specific, only acting on specific reactants, which are the
substrates, and consequently, enzymes are selective in the chemical reactions that they catalyze. Since
an enzyme is a protein, each enzyme has a specific amino acid sequence, which determines its shape
and eventually, the reactions that it will catalyze. In this way, an enzyme supports the biological theme
that form fits function. Each substrate binds to the enzyme

Sufism Is The Meaning Of Mysticism

The term Sufism is a very broad, paradoxical term because it has many connotations placing it within
the wider sphere of polemics is a somewhat difficult activity. From the view of Islamic theologians,

In this essay, the meaning of Sufism and the meaning of Mysticism, and whether the two complement
each other or whether they are in fact, complete opposite. It will also be discussed whether Sufism has
a Mystical element if it fits into Islamic religion. An analysis of what Sufism means to a Non Muslim

A very lucid description would be something of a spiritual reality pr not of this world which could be
described as having some kind of communication with God or a divine being.
What is meant by Sufism? As mentioned in the introduction, Sufism is a difficult word to employ,
because first and foremost to understand whether it is a mystical reality or not, and secondly to define
what it is in its actual sense has yet to be given as a definitive answer. For different individuals,
Sufism means different things. For Alan Godlas, the author of Sufism has many paths has said that
Sufism is defined by its adherents to be that inner mystical dimension is Islam. For others such as
Anne Marie Schimmell as a Non Muslim academic and one who wrote extensively on Islamic
Mysticism, Such is the case with Sufism, the generally accepted name for Islamic Mystiscm. Yet for
the sake of brevity, Sufism is viewed to be either the path that one walks on to be free of all sins, or to
gain a closer relationship with an ultimate reality, which is God. In its early stages of development,
Sufism referred to nothing but the internationalization of Islam. According to

  • 2. Was Captain Prestons Justified On March 5, 1770 in Boston, the large mob of Bostonians tormented Captain Thomas Preston s soldiers, who were watching the Customs House Building. One of the soldiers fired at the Bostonians, which resulted in the rest of the soldiers firing at the Bostonians. Someone from the crowd screamed for the soldiers to fire. This caused five of the Bostonians, including Crispus Attucks, who were shot by Preston s men. Captain Preston s men were put on trial, and were charged with the murder of the five Bostonians. Eventually, Preston was found innocent. The verdict of innocent in the trial of Preston is justified because Preston tried to persuade his men to not engage in a fight with the Bostonians. His lack of motive to murder the Bostonians and peaceful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Palmes shows that he is unsure who encouraged the shooting when he recalls I dont know who gave the word fire...Captain might have given the word and I not distinguish it. There is not any concrete evidence that proves that Preston is guilty because it is unclear if Preston truly did order his men to fire. However, Preston s avoiding for violence and wanting for a peaceful approach is confirmed by some witnesses like Theodore Bliss. Bliss declares that ...I did not hear any Order given by Capt. to fire. I stood so near him I...might have heard him if he had given an order to fire . Theodore Bliss confirms Preston s deposition by claiming that Preston did not order his men to fire. Not only does Theodore Bliss state this, but Edward Hill, Daniel Cornwall, Newton Prince, and James Goodwall state similarly that they also saw that they did not see or did not believe that Preston ordered the men to fire. This shows that Preston describes what he said and did at the Boston Massacre truthfully because witnesses like Bliss have accounts of the Boston Massacre that are similar to that of Preston s. This evidence helps support that Preston had taken a peaceful approach and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Sun Also Rises Modernism Analysis During the early twentieth century, the philosophical and artistic movement of Modernism permeated the world of literature. Thusly, Modernism, as a philosophy, is defined through the loss of traditional values and meaning in life; men, women and all people are isolated and alone, unable to fully communicate through language. Modernist writers portray the world as a harsh and unjust place in which their characters struggle alone with unrealistic and futile dreams. With this in mind, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway is a novel that details the story of Jacob Barnes and his circle of friends. Most of the friends, including Jake, are World War I veterans who have been harshly afflicted by their experiences in the war and heavily indulge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jake tries to be a good Catholic; he goes to the Cathedral and he prays in a very scattered way, first for his friends, then bullfighters, then money, and then his mind wanders onto other subjects. Jake tries to be a good Catholic by praying and attempting to be spiritual, but much like his own spirituality, his prayer is choppy. He does not usually go to church nor does he usually pray. Jake does not feel religious, and this is what he deduces makes him such a rotten Catholic. He regrets this notion and this is a symptom of a much larger problem for Jake: he craves authenticity and spirituality and innocence, but he has been corrupted by the great war. It took not only his fertility but also his spiritual potency. Further proof of his desire for spiritual authenticity and purity is when he sees Pedro Romero, the young, talented, and captivating young Spanish bullfighter, in a bullfight. Jake ... Thus, by the time U.S. and British forces began their attacks, the Axis forces substantially outnumbered them. The Allies faced a difficult challenge in Tunisia, and their progress was very slow. Rommel s forces fought with tenacity in one battle after another as the fighting continued well into the spring of 1943. Nonetheless, the Allies did consistently gain ground on the Axis forces. On May 7, the Allies took Tunis and soon took the remaining Axis forces in Africa more than 200,000 in all prisoner. With that, the war in North Africa was over. During the first few days, the invaders encountered significant resistance around Sicily s main airfield, but it was quickly overcome. On July 22, the Sicilian capital of Palermo fell to the Allies, and Sicily was secured. The Invasion of the Italian Mainland The day after the fall of Sicily, Italy s Fascist ruler, Benito Mussolini, was overthrown by a peaceful coup, and Italian officials promptly began approaching the Allies about an armistice. Prior to Mussolini s ouster, U.S. and British forces had planned an invasion of the Italian mainland, and the sudden turn of events took the Allied leaders by surprise. • 6. Essay on De Tocqueville Alexis De Tocqueville, Democracy in America Aristocracy is a phenomenon that is perhaps as natural a summer crop, and as devastating as the locusts that eat it. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s position on aristocracy is quite clear. He is a strong advocate of the aristocracy, it is a part of the natural order and necessary. His position may have some basis, however I have yet to see the amp;#8220;upside ; of a caste system or a good defense of it. De Tocqueville believes that aristocracy provides stability and fellowship. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s support of aristocracy is weak and ill founded. A community bound by social class is often referred to as a slaving society. The people at the bottom of this system are indebted to those above with nowhere else to turn. Unfortunately, a man needs justice most when he is mistreated by the aristocracy. • 7. Biological Features Of The Booty The booty (plural: booties,) also known as the bandonkadonk, junk in the trunk or simply butt, is two rounded portions of gluteal muscle located on the posterior pelvic region. Anatomically, the structure enables weight to be taken off the feet while sitting; however, in many cultures the masses of fat play a role in sexual attraction. Many find the swaying of the hips, which jiggles and bounces the booty, to be exceptionally arousing when featured on a female. Recently, this ideology has been sensationalized in the realm of popular culture and mass media. If you tune into the radio, you ll hear lyrics about bubble butts. If you turn on the television, you ll see touches twerking. And if you tap into your social media you ll read about famous fannies like Kim Kardashian and Iggy Azalea s. However, both men and women have this biological feature that functions in the exact way, so why are there such double standards, complexes, and obsessions with the female butt? According to Vogue magazine, we are officially in the era of the big booty (Garcia, 2014). Likewise, 2014 has been dubbed The Year Of The Booty (Ball, 2014). Meaning, today, the measure of a woman s sex appeal is directly linked to the prominence of her behind. While music videos have long been critiqued for reproducing distorted ideologies of women s sexuality, recent research suggests that female artists are more likely to sexually objectify themselves in their own music videos than male artists ... • 9. Reliability And Availability Evaluation Of A System Switched RELIABILITY AND AVAILABILITY EVALUATION OF A SYSTEM SWITCHED TO ANOTHER SIMILAR, SUBSTITUTE OR DUPLICATE SYSTEM ON TOTAL FAILURE ABSTRACT A two unit standby system is considered with two types of repair facilities. One facility repairs one unit at a time and other facility repairs both the units simultaneously. When both the units fail, if unit can be repair in short time then repair will be continued, otherwise in order to improve availability another substitute system taken from outside is used, which is guaranteed for failure free operation. Assuming failure and repair times as exponentially distributed, Expressions for the mean time to system failure (MTSF), the steady state availability and busy period for system are derived using linear first order differential equations. A. Specific Aim The age an individual feels is related to changes in characteristic ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving over time. As people aged, they become more mature and they approach thing differently and that in a way has effects their personality either positively or negatively. The aim of the study was to find out if age difference has anything to do with personality change. B. Introduction Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors. My understanding of personality is simply a genetic and environmentally determined set of psychological traits that influence our reactions in the world around us. Genetic because our parents possess a certain set of psychological personality traits that we tend to have in common with them so therefore in my opinion there are heritable personality traits. Personality is environmental because we each have our own separate experiences in the world and these experiences help form our unique personality. Neo Freudians such as Jung have given us a wide array of ideas of how they believe personality is developed and formatted. Jung in particular has a very interesting take on personality. A neutral question is without bias, informative leading, and isn t influenced by outside sources to receive the truest and most neutral response; however, I define a neutral question as to be neutral in order to truth without a hidden meaning within its structure, the opposite would be a leading question that encourages a desired answer. So, there is no such thing as a neutral observation or perceiving something as neutral. The statement suggests that areas of knowing lead us in a certain direction. By asking a question, one seeks knowledge beyond a neutral way. What is the effect of bias on asking questions? Is prior knowledge of something necessary before asking a question? Can we ask a question without context? How do areas of knowing affect the neutrality of a question? The areas of knowing that will be looked at will be natural science and history as scientists and historians find answers by beginning with questions and observations. Several assumptions can be made such as if neutral questions are impossible then everything carries bias. In order to ask a question and answer it, there can be no neutrality. All questions are leading questions. It is impossible and possible to have a neutral question; this essay will discuss the extent to which the statement is valid in natural science and history. The Future Of Enlightenment Topic In The 18th Century The Future of Enlightenment Balpreet Palha 214985881 Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements of HUMA 1910, York University Mark Terry, TA Tutorial # 3 Enlightenment was a prevalent topic in the 18th century. In 1784 Kant, Immanuel wrote An Answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment?. In which Kant sheds light on the distinction between public and private reason using many different instances. Kant proposes that public use of freedom is essential for enlightenment, but says the private reason is not as useful as public. Similarly, this paper will argue that public freedom can more effectively lead to enlightenment, but private reasoning can also lead to enlightenment using present day examples, comparing past and present circumstances and indulging into the outcome of both private and public reasons. Kant explains, Enlightenment is man s emergence from his self imposed immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (Kant, 35). Although immaturity in today s linguistic language is thought of as being irresponsible or childish, Kant however uses immaturity to describe the incapability to be able to think on your own. Additionally Kant explains that an immature person becomes so dependent on others to make his decisions that he overlooks thinking for himself. Kant uses an analogy of restrained animals, like cattle and how they will not dare take a single step without go cart to which they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, the fact that there are many/more cases where assertion of the tax advice privilege is denied shows that it is not understood (obviously, it can be a litigation/stalling technique, but misinformation/misunderstanding can be a big part of it too). Second, uniform adoption/recognition of the proper name of the privilege can help dispel incorrect assumptions or inferences/impressions. The language of the statute could be amended to eliviate this confusion. Instead of saying stuff is protected if it would be protected with an attorney, the statute should outline what is protected (normally you wouldn t want to list everything out not economical but since courts have stripped scope down so much, it s easier to just be clear about the few things that actually are privileged [litigation prep]. • 29. A Christmas Memory Short Story Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom, Marcel Proust said. This quote suggests how being grateful for the people that you feel close to, will make you feel happier. A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote takes place during the Great Depression in a small Southern town. A seven year old boy named Buddy, and his friend are hit by the Great Depression. They do not have very many possessions, only basic necessities. The holidays are right around the corner so Buddy and his friend decide to make fruit cakes for all of their friends, even though they do not have much. They end up not having much money to get each other something for Christmas. In the end, they both decide that having each other is enough, and that they re both very grateful for one other. One lesson that is taught in the story, is that often, people tend to only be grateful for materialistic things. However, in this story they re grateful for one another. Similarly, in the short story The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry expresses the same theme of gratefulness through the development of the character traits and character conflicts. Both stories show that being grateful for the people that you feel close to, will make you feel happier. From the very beginning in both stories by Capote and Henry, gratefulness has been shown through description of both characters, Buddy and Della. Buddy is grateful that him and his distant cousin have become best friends. We are cousins, very distant ones, and we have lived together well, as long as I can remember. Other people inhabit the house, relatives; and though they have power over us, and frequently make us cry, we are not, on the whole, too much aware of them. We are each other s best friend. She calls me Buddy, in memory of a boy who was formerly her best friend (Capote). This line illustrates that Buddy s distant cousin has taken care of him for as long as he can remember. Buddy is grateful that it has brought them close, they re each other s best friends. Another example of gratefulness is shown through Dellas thoughts and feelings. • 30. The Border Of The United States The Unlawful border crossing in the U.S. Southern border has been of political interest for the past decades. It has been the primary source of the illegal trades into U.S. from Mexico. Despite the government efforts to end the act, there have not been long term solutions to the Menace. The vital approach is to understand the structural nature of the border and the socio cultural nature of the inhabitants that facilitates the illegal act across the border. The lawful bill in place seems not to offer a practical solution to combating the problem. The existing border and immigration policies should be revised to provide a possible settlement to the illegal trade across the borders. Also, the border barriers should be adequately constructed and guarded with border security officials. Another crucial area for consideration is the cooperation between the two countries in combating the illegal trade across the border. • 36. The Effect Of Temperature On Rate Of Enzyme Activity Period 1 10/05/15 The Effect of Temperature on Rate of Enzyme Activity of Different Enzymes Abstract/Purpose: The main objective of this experiment was to determine how different factors, such as the type of enzyme and the temperatures that each of the enzymes were exposed to, could affect the rate of enzyme activity. In order to measure this, a potato enzyme and liver enzyme were placed in four different temperatures for 24 hours. Each enzyme was then placed in a test tube with hydrogen peroxide and the rate of enzyme activity was measured. The result was that the rate of enzyme activity decreased as the temperature increased for the liver enzyme, but increased for the potato enzyme. Introduction/Hypothesis: An enzyme is usually a protein that works as a catalyst, which is anything that helps to speed up, or catalyze, the chemical reaction (Bolster Moss, n.d.). To speed up a chemical reaction, enzymes lower the activation energy, which is the initial energy required for a reaction to occur by applying heat. However, enzymes are very substrate specific, only acting on specific reactants, which are the substrates, and consequently, enzymes are selective in the chemical reactions that they catalyze. Since an enzyme is a protein, each enzyme has a specific amino acid sequence, which determines its shape and eventually, the reactions that it will catalyze. In this way, an enzyme supports the biological theme that form fits function. Each substrate binds to the enzyme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
