Atlanta Exposition Speech
Outside Reading Assignment One
The Atlanta Exposition Speech by Booker T. Washington, The Talented Tenth but W.E.B. DuBois,
and The Negro s Place in American Life at the Present Day by T. Thomas Fortune were written
during the end of the nineteenth century when African Americans were faced with great
challenges on a range of different levels. These documents are very like one another considering
they are all addressing the same issues, but I also feel like each of them are unique from one
another because of the person who wrote them. Washington focuses more on an industrial education
so the blacks can go to school. He has the whites to believe that it will also affect them and make
things better for them at the time and that they will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas Fortune has more of gradualism approach to it. He is more focused on getting the
attention for the white audience and get the respect from them. Fortune asks, What is the Negro
s place in American life at the present day? (2). He says that the answer depends on the point of
view of the person and I greatly agree with that statement because I could believe completely
differently from the person sitting directly beside me on the situation. Sadly, blacks and whites
were not always treated the same way and still aren t always treated in the same ways today
either. Fortune states, There can be no healthy growth in the life of race or a nation without a
self reliant spirit animating the whole body... (4). I feel like this statement is something that is
important in this speech. It touches on how there is nothing healthy about not having equal
rights between whites and blacks. Few blacks can trace back their ancestors as easily as it for
whites, because they don t have an ancestry. This made it very hard on them because, unlike the
whites, they would have had nothing to fall back on. Whites just had it a lot easier and honestly
still do. People believe that there isn t any more racism, but it s very hard for me to believe that
after so many years of this occurring for it to just completely stop. In my opinion, giving blacks the
rights that they deserve will make things differently because

Essay about No One Would Listen
Review Essay No one would listen By Joseph Kiobbo, Newman University No one would Listen:
A True Financial Thriller. Harry Markopolos, ed. New Jersey: John Wiley and Sons, Inc. 2010.
Pp. 345. $17.35 (hard cover) This book brought out the failures of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) in one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in America s history, as orchestrated by
Bernie Madoff. Harry Markopolos caught up with Madoff s Ponzi scheme earlier on in his career
and saw all the red flags. There was no explanation of the continuous one percent yield in over
forty five stocks that Madoff dealt with. Madoff took advantage of the laxity by the SEC officials
in failing to follow up complains with an investigation, and the trust... Show more content on

The employees and traders shrugged it off. As it would later turn out, Madoff s illegal
investment business was indeed subsidizing his legal trading operation. Among the charges to
which Madoff pleaded guilty in March were three counts of money laundering, which involved
transferring millions of dollars from Madoff s fraudulent business through his London operation
to his legitimate New York business. At least $250 million was transferred in this manner,
according to the charges. In 2006 when the SEC launched an investigation into Madoff s
dealings it was from persuasion from Markopolos that Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme and
he was also a key source for the Mar/Hedge article. The SEC also examined whether Fairfield
Greenwich, a giant feeder fund, was properly disclosing the extent of its reliance on Madoff.
According to research by Harry Markopolos, it grew from as much as $7 billion in 2000 to as
much as $50 billion by the end of 2005. What had started decades before as a small time recruiting
effort by Madoff agents at country clubs had gone global. Massive international institutions such as
Grupo Santander, Fortis Bank, and Union Bancaire PrivГ©e were all funneling billions sometimes
through intermediaries to Madoff, lured by the call of steady 10% to 12% returns. Even one of the
world s biggest sovereign funds, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, ended up sinking tens of

Communication And The Agile Method
Communication is key; these words have been etched into the brain of every student, business
professional, and leader in this modern age. Society has an ideology that to reach a common goal,
people need to be able to communicate their ideas in a manner that is both productive and
understandable. This is why college lectures, books, and scientific papers have been written about
communication and the various methods that it can be applied to, including the agile method. The
agile method is able to use communication to increase efficiency in productivity by allowing for
planned goals, more face to face meetings, and a steady flow of information between participants.
To begin with, efficiency is a very important part of both the work and... Show more content on

These meetings between team members allow for participants to focus on what was
accomplished, what still needs to be completed, and what obstacles might get in the teams way.
The time that is allotted for scrum meetings gives students a chance for reflection where they
can discuss what projects must be completed and what ones are a priority (Moses p.2). Frequent
meetings can help outline key components of a project, and it can aid teams in learning how
plausible a project is. For example, a teacher may conclude that a class can write a ten page
paper in one week. However when the students meet and discuss this, they may ask for the
project to be broken down into smaller increments (a draft and then a final). The students are able
to complete the smaller goal of finishing a draft in one week and then another goal of finishing
the paper at a later date. This goal setting allows for students to feel less overwhelmed, all the
while allowing them to fulfill more productive and meaningful work. Additionally, setting goals
and making an effort to share them with others forces students to be accountable for the work they
do. During scrum sessions, students are able to discuss and record their goals for a project. This
exchange of information allows for students to understand where they relative to others and it holds
them accountable for the work they do. For instance, if a student knows that they are going to have

The Role Of Odysseus In Book VIII Of The Odyssey
Reading through Book VIII of The Odyssey, allowed the readers to understand more about the life
of Odysseus and its relation to the gods through the three songs that Demokos sings throughout the
chapter. Demokos sings three different songs with the main themes being adultery, betrayal, pain
and strategy. The first song was about a quarrel involving Odysseusand Achilles, presumably before
the Trojan Warbegan. On the other hand, the second song involved the story about the affair
between Ares and Aphrodite on Hephaistos. While the third song returned to Odysseus and the
story of the Trojan horse that resulted in the downfall of Troy. Although each song contains a
different story, the themes found in those songs allow a connection to be made between each of
them and related back to Odysseus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quarrel might have been a result of tactics on how to defeat the Trojans. Agamemnon, felt
inward joy over his captains quarrel; for such had been foretold him by Apollo, (127). There is no
specific information given on the song but the quote demonstrates how Agamemnon was happy
with the arguing between his two captains and the role Apollo plays in the song. The theme of
betrayal can be foreshadowed in this song because of the emotional reaction of Odysseus. He might
feel he betrayed Achilles and that resulted in his death. It can be inferred that shortly after the
quarrel, something significant happened in the war against the Trojans or Demokos wouldn t have

Carbon Dioxide And Its Effect On Earth s World
In today s atmosphere, carbon dioxide (CO2) amounts to 400 parts per million (ppm), but it hasn t
always been that high, or low, depending on what we are comparing it to. It is a trace gas that is
vital to Earth s atmosphere and has been around since the creation of Earth s first atmosphere,
which occurred shortly after the planet s creation. The advent of Earths second atmosphere
happened when lighter gases such as hydrogen escaped into space or were bound to molecules,
leaving gases like nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other gases that were the product of volcanism to
make up the majority of the atmosphere. This volcanic activity was fueled by gases that came to
Earth following the late heavy bombardment of huge asteroids . Following... Show more content on

Leading up to the present, levels of CO2 have fluctuated due to geochemical processes such
suspension of the gas in sediment, silicate rock weathering, and volcanism. Also, human activity
plays a large part in carbon deposition into the atmosphere predominantly through the burning of
fossil fuels and the cultivation of livestock. On a drastically larger time scale the carbon cycle is
ever so slightly reducing atmospheric CO2 , which will ultimately bring the concentration down
near zero, causing all life on the planet to be wiped out. The carbon cycle, including both
terrestrial and aquatic processes, is the foundation under which photosynthesis is possible. Aside
from the carbon cycle, CO2 is a key element in many other natural processes and phenomena
such as the Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming . After the advent of the second atmosphere,
the atmosphere had ~100 times as much gas as the current atmosphere , which contained a large
amount of CO2 which is believed to have kept the Earth from freezing over. Over the next few
billion years the water vapor condensed to form oceans and rain that started to absorb CO2.
Eventually 50% of the carbon in the atmosphere would end up suspended in the ocean. This
caused ocean acidification, which is the decrease in the pH level of the ocean. Plate tectonics
played a large role in the gradual evolution of the atmosphere by transferring carbon dioxide to and

Choice Theory Middle Adulthood
As we go through our developmental life span in young and middle adulthood, we become involve
in situations that we cannot change, but we as individuals can make a choice to change ourselves.
Choices start to be done in infancy and continue through the physiological, developmental stages of
childhood, adolescence, young, middle and older adulthood (Glasser, 2010). Dr. William Glasser
developed the ChoiceTheory which is defined as the explanation of human behavior based on
internal motivation (Glasser, 2010). In this paper, the choice theory will be examined to explain
human behavior in young and middle adulthood, how this theory can be incorporated into social
work practice and a look at individuals from different cultures to determine if their human needs
identified in the Choice Theory reflect their experiences and why. Young and middle adulthood are

love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun, are identified that each should achieve (Zastrow

Similarities Between Don Quixote And Sancho Panza
The relationship between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza have various interesting points of
similarity and differences between the two main characters in the story of The Epic of Gilgamesh.
When analyzing both stories, one may see how the relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu
compares to the relationship between Don Quixoteand Sancho Panza. The Epic of Gilgameshis an
epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia, and is often regarded as one of the earliest texts of
literature. However, the main characters in the poem are both Gilgamesh and Enkidu. In Don
Quixote, Sancho Panza and Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote) have a similar bond. The relationship
between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza have various interesting points of similarity and contrast
with The Epic of Gilgamesh. How do the characters from Don Quixote contrast from the two main
characters in The Epic of Gilgamesh? Don Quixote is a middle aged man from the region of La
Macha in Spain. In addition, he began to be obsessed with the chivalrous ideas that appeared in the
books he read. Throughout his adventures his trusting sidekick, Sancho Panza, accompanies him on
his journeys. Sancho Panza first began to be the neighbor of Alonso, and throughout time Sancho
began to be his personal attendant. At first Sancho is quite timid, or bashful. Sancho Panza was
known to be Don Quixote s correct lens for what the world considered Quixote s distorted vision.

Viagra
History: Viagra also known as sildenafil citrate was originally synthesized at Pfizer headquarters
in Sandwich, Kent, England by a group of pharmaceutical chemists in 1989. The two people
who are attributed with creating sildenafil citrate, and who were consequently the most
important in doing research and development on the drug were chemists Peter Dunn and Albert
Wood. They originally composed this drug, sildenafil citrate, to help treat angina and high blood
pressure, two symptoms that are usually indicative of coronary heart disease. The drug is
classified as UK 92480. Later, in 1991, when the drug is patented by Dr. Nicholas Terrett, who is
also referred to as the father of Viagra , sildenafil citrate received its modern name, Viagra. A few
years afterward, in the early 1990s, Pfizer compiles several early test in order to prove Viagra s
capabilities in reducing angina and treating high blood pressure. These trials, however, prove that
Viagra is not effective at treating this symptoms at all, although the trial patients were reporting
ongoing erections after consuming Viagra. This got Pfizer thinking, and in March of 1998, Pfizer
re patents Viagra and the FDA approves it, and instead markets it as a drug to help people who are
suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED), and this time Pfizer has research to back their claim. In
the first year alone, over 40,000 prescriptions were written

The National Association Of Social Workers Code Of Ethics...
Social work is a very unique profession. The other professions that are in the same realm as social
work are very specialized, however, social workers must have a broad range of knowledge in order
to help their clients. This is where multiple agencies come together to make sure professionals are
properly trained and knowledgeable. In the field of social work, ethicsand values are the key
principles that provide the basis for the mission. It is these principles that guide the decisions
and actions of everyone in the profession. Without a clear set of guiding principles, social work
professionals could do more harm than good. This profession sees people during highly
emotional times in their lives, and that can be extremely challenging. The National Association of
Social Workers Code of Ethics not only sets the standards, but also guides a social worker through
dealing with ethical dilemmas. As we evolve as a society, so have the guiding principles and
values for the social work profession.
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has written a code of ethics that serves
many purposes. The main purpose is to identify the core ethics and values that provide the
foundation for the profession. It details six basic principles for social workers to follow: service,
social justice, dignity and worth, human relationships, integrity, and competence (National
Association of Social Workers, 1999). The code acts as an ethical guide for students, and those
professionals just

Analyse Rembrandt Self Identity
I think that a work that Rembrandt painted to satisfy an inner need is Self Portrait with Two
Circles, from 1666 1669. It is unlike some of his other self portraits or face studies because it
really represents how he saw himself in relation to painting. In his face studies where he uses
himself as a model he is not trying to represent himself to others although he does play with light
and composition. In his formal self portraits he is shown with garments and jewelry that elevate his
status.
His earlier self portraits from 1636 38 and 1640 show emphasis on his gold chain and the luxury
of the fabric of his hat and clothes. He is youthful, only slight wrinkles and no grey hairs. They
contrast to his Artist in His Studio, 1627 28 an early work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He presents himself in costume, with a painters stick and hat. His older age is shown in his
wrinkles and greying hair. Rembrandt is still showing dominance of painting with his stance and
fantastical costume, as though he is a deity of painting. However, in his Self Portrait with two
Circles there is a change in how he represents himself to the viewer and the relationship he has
with painting has also changed. There is more light showing his grey hair and the extravagance
of his clothes and jewelry has diminished. Although, he is still wearing a gold chain it is not
given the same attention as his chains in his earlier portraits. He is wearing a basic painters hat
and smock with brushes and palette in his left hand. His identity has moved from master to
servant of the art of painting. Rembrandt is no longer hiding behind shadow and objects. I think
that Rembrandt had always tried to paint his relationship with painting but in this last self portrait
he is able to surrender to his ego as an artist. He goal was to simply paint himself, similarly to The
Artist in His Studio. This work satisfies his inner need to represent himself and the act of painting.
He has been able to do that without creating a tailored and exaggerated

In modern times, the Philippines has been a central ally in the United States Asian and Pacific

Validation In The Canterbury Tales Essay
One of the main forces behind humanity s drive to be a good person is validation. Religion is a
way for people to become better and receive validation from others. In Geoffrey Chaucer s The
Canterbury Tales, Chaucer writes about a large group of people on a pilgrimage, who keep
themselves occupied by telling stories to each other. The Canterbury Talesshows how many
different kinds of people find validation through religion. The Canterbury Tales makes it seem as
though the only reason people followed religion was to receive acceptance from others through the
Church because the characters do not take religion or Godseriously. Religious figures on the
pilgrimage, like the Friar and the Prioress, break their promises of chastity to God constantly, yet
they continue to claim they are good figures of the Church because people think more highly of
them if they are practicing abstinence. The Prioress is not truly faithful to God, which is seen in
her brooch of shining gold; inscribed thereon/ Was, first of all, a crowned A ,/ And under, [love
conquers all], (7). The Prioress is a nun who supposedly devoted herself to God through
marriage. When a nun declares herself faithful to God, it means that she will practice abstinence.
A brooch that says love conquers all implies that the person wearing it is someone for whom their
promise to god is second to their desire for worldly love. Likewise, the Prioress also accepts gifts
from men, showing once again that she does not take

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Heart Disease
Heart disease is common among dogs almost as common as it is in humans. If you own a dog,
and you have some concerns about your dog s health, it is important to understand what type of
heart disease complications your dog may experience, especially in response to infection, illness,
diet, and lack of exercise. For many dogs the symptoms and complications of heart disease are
similar to what you would expect to see in human symptoms. Heart disease in dogs can be attributed
to congenital complications as well. Typically, when your dog is young, you will want to have
your dog evaluated to determine if there are any congenital complications that may pre dispose
your dog to heart complications early in life. When compounded by heart disease development,
due to poor diet or other infections, your dog will typically show signs of poor tolerance for
exercise, have some swelling around the stomach and may even show signs of weight loss.
When evaluated, your dog s veterinarian is going to listen for the presence of a gallop heart
sound which is indicative of swelling in and around the heart. The gallop heart sound will be a
sound that is similar to a third heart beat or echo and can typically only be heard with a
stethoscope. Heart murmurs in dogs are also quite common and while they can, to some extent, be
corrected with surgery, most dogs will live a long time with heart murmur. But, when heart disease
is a concern, you will want to address the heart murmur issues as well.

German Expressionism In World War 1
World War I, the isolation Germans experienced and the demand for films after the cutoff of foreign
film imports was an opening for a new movement of cinema, the German expressionist cinema. It is
the movement of cinema that started during Weimar Germany. The German expressionist cinema is
where the horror genre grew and where it influenced FilmNoir as German Expressionism cinema is
a collection of silent horror films. Just like any other cinema, it incorporates the use of mise en

costumes and actors and all the little details in it. Mise en scГЁne was evident in expressing the

Lighting techniques such as the Chiaroscuro lighting is used, it uses contrasts between extreme
dark and light. This is accomplished through low key lighting and increasing contrast highly.
However, as mentioned before, such techniques could not be used in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
where, instead, they painted shadows on the walls to build the harsh contrast. The Chiaroscuro, low
key lighting, high contrasts and the hand made creation of shadows all build an abstract form of
image that is broad, non realistic and bold and create more distortion to the image. The
exaggeration of shadows and contrasts aids to convey strong emotion stress and fear in this case
reflecting the traumatic stress encountered by many people at that era like Janowitz and Mayer.
The distortion the extreme shadows create reflect on the destruction and corruption in Germany
after the World War. German Expressionism use simple lighting from the front and sides,
illuminating the scene flatly and evenly to stress the links between the figures and the dГ©cor. In
some notable cases, shadows are used to create additional distortion that build suspense and to

The Original Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus
The original myth of Daedalus and Icarus was written by Ovid in his story The Story of Daedalus

exiled to an island that can only be escaped through the air. Daedalus made wax wings that melt if
they get too close to the sun. When Icarusstarted flying, he flew too high and fell to his death.
This story has been interpreted several different ways; these include: Landscape with the Fall of
Icarus, a painting by Pieter Bruegel; Landscape with the Fall of Icarus , a poem by William
Carlos Williams; and Musee des Beaux Arts , a poem by W. H. Auden. The texts use different
elements to portray Icarus death, which symbolizes man s failure. One

Analysis: Bach Suite No. 3 in D major
The instruments used in the piece are: * Trumpet 1 * Trumpet 2 * Trumpet 3 * Timpani * Oboe 1 *
Oboe 2 * Violin 1 * Violin 2 * Viola * Continuo Harpsichord or Double Bass
Why this piece is typically baroque
This is piece is baroque as it includes many of the baroque characteristics: * Perfect Cadence!! In the
concept Pitch, the perfect cadence is very obvious at the end of the sections and phrases change
from the dominant to the tonic. * Duration the rhythmic pattern heard at the start of each gavotte, is
reiterated many times throughout the piece. This also links to Pitch the opening melody of the

The phrases are generally 8 beats long extending over 3 the last two beats of the first bar and the
first two beats of the third bar( in the excerpt to the right).
Throughout Section A, there is no syncopation all notes fall on the beat.
Texture The texture is homophonic throughout the whole of Section A. There are three layers of
sound in the Section A. The first is the melody played by the violins and trumpets. This is the layer
of sound which is most prominent throughout A. The second is the timpani and viola part. This is
the softest layer throughout the section. It provides harmony to the melody, using the notes of the
D major chord. The last layer is the continuo bass It provides accompaniment and bass.
The harmonic rhythm is not very steady as the chords only change in bars 7, 10 and 11. The chord
changes from D to A and then from A to E and E to A (shown in the musical excerpt). These chord
changes are changes from either the dominant to the tonic or the tonic to the dominant, showing the
typical barque chord changes.
Through adding trumpets, bars 1 3 and bars 5 7 are the densest of Section A. This highlights the
main repeated motif. Bars 3 5 and 7 11 are softer as these are the less important phrases of the
section.
Section A1 bars 12 27
This Section is called A1, because it uses similar rhythms and pitch throughout the Section. The
structure of the section is however not the same to section A as there are various key changes

The Dynamic Character In Carver s Cathedral By Raymond Carver
In the short story Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the narrator is a dynamic character because of
the way his thoughts adjust throughout the entirety of the story. The beginning of the story
shows the narrator only being able to see physical things with his eyes. By the end, the narrator
sees a different perspective through his imagination. Robert, the blind man that visits the narrator
and his wife, brings out the imagination from within the narrator. The narrator is a dynamic
character because he changes his judgment of Robert from a more prejudice view to a more
acceptable one. The beginning of the story presents the narrator s wife working for a blind man
one summer by reading, stuff to him, case studies, reports, that sort of thing (Carver, 34). She
eventually extends an invitation for the blind man, Robert, to stay at their house after Robert s
wife had passed away. The narrator was not too happy about having a stranger stay in his home by
stating, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered
me. My idea of blindnesscame from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never
laughed (Carver, 34). The narrator seems very timid about someone he had never met stay at his
house who can see purely nothing. This gives off an impression that the narrator doesn t want to
have Robert stay with him because he will be a hassle to keep up with since blind people in the
movies progress, slowly and never

China Economy
CHINA
AN ECONOMIC OVERVIEW
The rapid rise of China as a major economic power within a time span of about three decades is
often described by analysts as one of the greatest economic success stories in modern times. From
1979 (when economic reforms began) to 2011, China s real gross domestic product (GDP) grew at
an average annual rate of nearly 10%. From 1980 to 2011, real GDP grew 19 fold in real terms,
real per capita GDP increased 14 fold, and an estimated 500 million people were raised out of
extreme poverty. China is now the world s second largest economy and some analysts predict it
could become the largest within a few years. Yet, on a per capita basis, China remains a relatively
poor country. China s economic rise has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To support rapid industrialization, the central government undertook large scale investments in
physical and human capital during the 1960s and 1970s. As a result, by 1978 nearly three fourths
of industrial production was produced by centrally controlled, state owned enterprises (SOEs),
according to centrally planned output targets. Private enterprises and foreign invested firms were
generally barred. A central goal of the Chinese government was to make China s economy relatively
self sufficient. Foreign trade was generally limited to obtaining only those goods that could not be
made or obtained in China. Government policies kept the Chinese economy relatively stagnant and
inefficient, mainly because most aspects of the economy were managed and run by the central
government (and thus there were few profit incentives for firms, workers, and farmers), competition
was virtually nonexistent, foreign trade and investment flows were mainly limited to Soviet bloc
countries, and price and production controls caused widespread distortions in the economy. Chinese
living standards were substantially lower than those of many other developing countries. The
Chinese government in 1978 (shortly after the death of Chairman Mao in 1976) decided to break
with its Soviet style economic policies by gradually reforming the economy according to free
market principles and opening up trade and investment with the West, in the hope that this would

Criminal record checks are high in demand for decision makers to predict future unwanted
behaviors during employment screening. Employers conduct background checks on job applicants
for several reasons. One reason may be to confirm their moral character. Another reason may be
the desire to assess their risk of committing crimes that could cause somatic, monetary, and
reputational damage to the company. Consequently, if a person has had their record expunged then

Germanic Influence on Higher Education
Germanic Influence on Higher Education
Before one can move forward with their education one must understand where it all started. When
researching the history of higher education there is a common theme in every aspect of my
research. I would find the word college and the word university . Throughout the 19th century there
would be some confusion between the two words. In colleges the primary role is teaching where as
in the university research and scholarships are the primary role (Lucas,2006). Also, current
universities offer post baccalaureate or graduate instruction whereas colleges do not. However, this
was not always the case before the 19th century.
The impact of German university scholarship upon nineteenth century American higher education is
one of the most significant in modern intellectual history (Westmeyer, 1985,p. ?). Before the impact
of Germany American universities were not research and scholarship based. American scholars
were beginning to get frustrated that they did not have the opportunity to develop higher studies
within their schools. While this frustration started to grow students began to look for other ways to
advance their studies. During 1815 1914 10,000 students took the opportunity to try and evolve
their knowledge through attending German universities (Westmeyer, 1985). Of the 10,000 students
academic celebrities as Leopold von Ranke, Herman von Homholtz, Wilhem Wundt took this

The Birth Story Of Jesus And Interpreting It Today
The concept of a virginal birth could seem possible or probable with the advancement of modern
technology allowing women who wish to conceive a child the option of undergoing In Vitro
Fertilization to have a child without a male partner or need for sexual intercourse today. However,
it is perplexing how Mary, the mother of Jesus, miraculously conceived and bore a child as a
virgin. On the surface it may seem that it can simply be explained as a one time, divine
intervention by God, yet the details surrounding how this phenomenon occurred becomes much
more complex after delving into the accounts of this event in the books of Matthew and Luke.
There are many issues surrounding who and what the virgin Mary was in regards to her origins
and the term virgin used to describe her. Also, how this event manifested, the role Joseph played in
this story, are important for unraveling the birth story of Jesus and interpreting it today. I believe
that it is reasonable to assume that Jesus was conceived miraculously or supernaturally by a virgin
female named Mary, and was naturally born in this world. To have a better understanding of the
virginal conception it is important to have background information on the main characters involved,
Mary and Joseph. The Proto Gospel, an apostolic writing by Jesus half brother James, offers an
omniscient perspective of Mary s origin and upbringing through the birth of Jesus. This gives an
important background for understanding the Matthew and

In A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful Edmund
Burke writes, It is the nature of grief to keep its object perpetually in its eye, to present it in its most
pleasurable views, to repeat all the circumstances that attend to it . Burke s writing attempts to
clarify the pictorial, literary, cultural, economic and psychological phenomenon of sublimity,
explicating the ways in which power, vastness, obscurity and beauty intersect to form emotional
response. A Philosophical Enquiry elucidates why so many Romantic poets and writers would
make grief, mourning and death the subjects of their works; the limitless, obscure, infinite theme
death corresponds to the existential, contemplative and introspective ideas Romantic writers were
attempting to interrogate. But the subject of death in Romantic literature transcends the topic of
corporeal death and explores the death of memory, of youth, of innocence and of the past.
Furthermore, the Romantic writers were grappling with a shifting, changing society that caused a
sense of pervasive loss in their works; as artists, authors and the population attempted to navigate a
society characterized by political revolution and technological innovation, poems about mourning
act as almost consolatory works. Amongst this writing which attempts to navigate the subject of
grief, nature is a recurring element. By examining the locations or settings authors used as a

The Theory Of Energy, Order, And Disorder
The Theory of Energy, Order, and Disorder in the Military and in War
Brandon Rodriguez
Ramapo College of New Jersey
Abstract
The theory of energy, order, and disorder/chaos can be applied to any and all aspects of life. This
essay focuses on applying this theory to specifically the U.S. military and when in war. The war
aspect in this application of energy, order and disorder will also include combat sports, as this
can also be seen as a form of warfare. Using research consisting of articles and the like, along with
interviews of those with firsthand experience, I hope to illustrate not only how the theory of
energy, order, and disorder is present in the United Statesmilitary and in warfare, but also how
these things are substantially more orderly than they are usually given credit for. Nonetheless, the
essay will also go on to explain that no matter how much effort expended in the hopes of
establishing and maintaining order, it is only temporary, and chaotic fallout is inevitable.
War is chaos. At least, that s what most people believe. And most people think this because most
of the time we are only invited to look at the surface, but what is war really? The everlasting
theory of energy, order, and disorder/chaos is one that is proven true time and time again.
Whatever, or wherever it may be, the theory remains accurate. The axiom is as follows: energy is
required to establish and keep order, but a chaotic breakdown is the natural end

turbines can be adapted to this use, increasing amounts of wind power will be utilized as a means
to micropower generation.
These examples suggest that wind power will be used in ways that correspond to each needed
capacity and purpose. In the article Wind Energy: An Untapped Resource, the Wind Energy
Association estimates the potential amount of wind power generation capacity in the U.S.A. at
10,777 billion kW/h, which is three times the electricity generated in the U.S.A. today. However,
it also predicts that we are unlikely ever to use even half of that potential. In fact, in 2000, the
U.S.A. was using less than 1% of that potential! This is because wind power is not always the
superior method, and there are some problems still to be solved.
In the article Nuclear Now, Schwarts and Keiss point out some problems with wind power
generation. First the Whish, Whish sound of the turning fan might bother the people living
nearby. A relatively large area of land is needed for huge wind turbines. Also birds can be killed
by the turbines. And, of course, there is the question of the cost. In Wind Turbines Taking Toll on
Birds of Prey, for example USA Today reports that the number of birds killed by the

Ethical Ethics And Corporate Ethics Essay
Ethics are principles of behavior based on the ideas of what is good and what is bad. Business
ethics, or also known as corporate ethics, is a form of ethics that is used in the business
environment. The study of business ethics looks at the decisions that businesses make and whether
those decisions taken are right or wrong. Many company executives are unethical, because their
number one goal is not to satisfy customers, or clients; Instead their number one goal is to make as
much profit as they can no matter what. What this type of companies fail to realize is that there is
long run and short run profit maximization. A company can maximize its profits by in the short run
by being unethical; however, in the long run, the bad publicity, lawsuits, etc. will make the
company suffer plenty in both the public appearance and the monetary aspect. One of the biggest
legal scandals of a company being unethical was in 2001, when, Enron, a natural gas pipeline
company went from having $65 billions in assets to being bankrupt 24 days after. Enron
Corporation was founded in 1985, in Houston, Texas, it was a merger between Houston Natural Gas
Co. and InterNorth Inc. Enron reached dramatic heights, it was the seventh largest corporation in
America, and named the Most innovative company by Fortune magazine for 6 years straight. Enron
innovated the entire natural gas market by adding a natural gas trading segment; making it the
world s largest energy trading company. At its peak

Shipping And Environmental Pollution
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the study are as follows:
To study the impact of shipping on the global environment.
To study the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution.
4. METHODOLOGY:
The researcher has used the data and information which are already available. Based on the
requirements of the current research and also based the specifications of the regulatory bodies of
the world, the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution and also the
impact of shipping on the global environment have been studied.
5. SHIPS AND SHIPPING:
To discuss the relation among shipping, the environment, and sustainable development, it is useful
to define certain terminology. The main focus of shipping is on commercial ships, although many
of the emissions, impacts and measures are common to other sectors, such as leisure, research, and
fishing. The different regulations also require definitions of a ship. Different definitions exist,
although according to the glossary of the US Navy, a boat usually refers to small vessels that are
often open, whereas ships are vessels of considerable size that are intended for deep water
navigation. A ship can also be defined by its size: vessels longer than 12 m and wider than 4 m are
referred to as ships, and smaller vessels are known as boats. Common ship types can be identified
according to their type of use:
Container Ships: These vessels carry most of the world s manufactured

HISTORY AND ORIGINATORS OF KEYBOARD
BAROQUE PERIOD
Harpsichord (Italian cembalo; French clavecin), stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings
are plucked to produce sound. It was developed in Europe in the 14th or 15th century and was
widely used from the 16th to the early 19th century, when it was superseded by the piano. In the
20th century the harpsichord was revived for performance of music of the 16th, 17th, and 18th
centuries, as well as for new compositions. The incisive sound quality of the plucked metal strings
adds clarity to melodic lines. The harpsichord is particularly effective in performing contrapuntal
music that is, music that consists of two or more melodies played at the same time, such as that of

A typical two manual harpsichord of the 18th century had strings at normal and octave high pitch
playable on the lower manual, strings at normal pitch controlled by the upper manual, and a
coupling mechanism. Early History The earliest school of harpsichord building developed in Italy
in the 16th and 17th centuries. Italian harpsichords differed from others in that they normally were
made of extremely thin wood and then placed in a stronger outer case of the same shape. A second
important school of building developed in the 16th and 17th centuries in Flanders, centered around
the influential Ruckers family of builders. These schools gave way in the 18th century to
distinctive styles of building that developed in France (the Blachet family), Germany (the Hass
family), and England (Jacob Kirkman). Harpsichords of the different national schools varied in
details of their proportions and construction, resulting in slight, although characteristic differences
in tone color. Modern Developments In the 20th century, two broad approaches to harpsichord
building emerged. The first utilized recent principles of construction, such as are found in present
day pianos. Stimulated by the Polish harpsichordist Wanda Landowska, this style was exemplified
by the French piano firms of Pleyel and Г‰rard. Their harpsichords relied on heavy strings under
high tension in a heavily braced case. Many

The Nicene Creed Essay
The Nicene Creed is the creed or profession of faith that was adopted in the city of Nicaea by the
first ecumenical council, which met there in the year 325. At that time, the text ended after the
words We believe in the Holy Spirit , after which an anathema was added. The doctrine of the
Trinityis commonly expressed as: One God, three Persons , but this word Trinity does not appear
in the Bible. So the doctrine is formally defined in the Nicene Creed, which declares Jesus to be:
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance
with the Father. in 325, the Council of Nicea set out to officially define the relationship of the Son
to the Father, in response to the controversial teachings of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even during numerous exiles, Athanasius continued to be a vigorous defender of Nicene
Christianity against Arianism. Athanasius then famously said Athanasius against the world . The
Cappadocian Fathers also took up the torch; their Trinitarian discourse was influential in the
council at Constantinople.Up until about 360, theological debates mainly dealt with the Divinity
of Jesus, the 2nd person of the Trinity. However, because the Council of Nicaea had not clarified
the divinity of the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity, it became a topic of debate.
The council affirmed the original Nicene Creed of faith as true and an accurate explanation of
Scripture. This council also developed a statement of faith which included the language of
Nicaea, but expanded the discussion on the Holy Spirit to combat the heresy of the
Pneumatomachi. It is called the Nicene Creed of 381 and was a commentary on the original
Nicene formula. It expanded the third article of the creed dealing with the Holy Spirit, as well as
some other changes. About the Holy Spirit the article of faith said he is the Lord, the Giver of
Life, Who proceeds from the Father, With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified .
The statement of proceeding from the Father is seen as significant because it established that the
Holy Spirit must be of the same being as God the Father.
ESSAY 3
The second and third century African theologian Tertullian took exception to this widespread
doctrine.

Return On Investments ( Roi )
Return on Investments (ROI) is an excellent tool that business professionals use to measure the
benefit an organization receives by administrating the training program. The formula for ROI is the
ratio of the results divided by the training costs. An example of ROI is the dollar value of
productivity divided by training costs. A company benefits from administrating a training program if
the ratio of results to costs is high. There are apparently many formulas out there that organizations
are using for ROI, but the formula recommended to use for training return on investment would be
Training ROI = (Total returns Training cost) / Training cost (Schmidt). Management in many
organizations requires proof that training is financially justified and a good return on investment.
If not, then the cost of training may possibly be reduced. It is all about the money that an
organization can or cannot afford to use for the purpose of training. There are some critics who
feel that ROI is not a necessity, whereas there are some critics who feel that ROI is an important
necessity for an organization now more than ever.
The training program is more expensive than its returns to the organization if the ROI ratio is less
than one. Unfortunately, such a training program has to be either changed or cancelled. Therefore,
the ROI ratio has to be more than one in order for the training program to be of some value to the
organization. Training expenditures, training costs, and

Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
July 15/2015
As I began reading the novel The Great Gatsby I was introduced to many important characters.
First off I met Nick Carraway the self proclaimed narrator of the story. Nick is a young man who
moved from Minnesota to the city of New York to learn the bond business. I learned that Nick
studied at Yale and served time in World War One. Nick describes himself as an honest man, who
does not judge onto others however contradicts himself when he says he is highly moral and has a
stronger dignity than others. Nicks character really intrigues me because although what he says
about his personality, I believe by the end of the novel he will be changed man and become a
different person. This can be perceived early on because in chapter two he ... Show more content on

other characters and society in New York, Daisy is careless and only cares about money and

Honestly, in all opinions Daisys character makes me mad. Not only is she a selfish person she is
also very materialistic, it is hard to believe that this is Gatsbys love. Lastly, the character I am most
intrigued by is the mysterious Jay Gatsby. For some reason, Gatsby has become my favourite
character. Maybe it is because of the extravagant parties he throws, or maybe it is because of his
mystery, however all I know is I have become entrapped in Gatsby. For the first chapters of the
book Gatsby is mentioned by others but is not present. Many rumours and gossip circle about
Gatsby, he could even be described as type of celebrity . He can be told as a young man around
thirty years old living the American dream . He is wealthy, and is among the new money

  • 2. Atlanta Exposition Speech Outside Reading Assignment One The Atlanta Exposition Speech by Booker T. Washington, The Talented Tenth but W.E.B. DuBois, and The Negro s Place in American Life at the Present Day by T. Thomas Fortune were written during the end of the nineteenth century when African Americans were faced with great challenges on a range of different levels. These documents are very like one another considering they are all addressing the same issues, but I also feel like each of them are unique from one another because of the person who wrote them. Washington focuses more on an industrial education so the blacks can go to school. He has the whites to believe that it will also affect them and make things better for them at the time and that they will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Fortune has more of gradualism approach to it. He is more focused on getting the attention for the white audience and get the respect from them. Fortune asks, What is the Negro s place in American life at the present day? (2). He says that the answer depends on the point of view of the person and I greatly agree with that statement because I could believe completely differently from the person sitting directly beside me on the situation. Sadly, blacks and whites were not always treated the same way and still aren t always treated in the same ways today either. Fortune states, There can be no healthy growth in the life of race or a nation without a self reliant spirit animating the whole body... (4). I feel like this statement is something that is important in this speech. It touches on how there is nothing healthy about not having equal rights between whites and blacks. Few blacks can trace back their ancestors as easily as it for whites, because they don t have an ancestry. This made it very hard on them because, unlike the whites, they would have had nothing to fall back on. Whites just had it a lot easier and honestly still do. People believe that there isn t any more racism, but it s very hard for me to believe that after so many years of this occurring for it to just completely stop. In my opinion, giving blacks the rights that they deserve will make things differently because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New Jersey: John Wiley and Sons, Inc. 2010. Pp. 345. $17.35 (hard cover) This book brought out the failures of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in America s history, as orchestrated by Bernie Madoff. Harry Markopolos caught up with Madoff s Ponzi scheme earlier on in his career and saw all the red flags. There was no explanation of the continuous one percent yield in over forty five stocks that Madoff dealt with. Madoff took advantage of the laxity by the SEC officials in failing to follow up complains with an investigation, and the trust... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The employees and traders shrugged it off. As it would later turn out, Madoff s illegal investment business was indeed subsidizing his legal trading operation. Among the charges to which Madoff pleaded guilty in March were three counts of money laundering, which involved transferring millions of dollars from Madoff s fraudulent business through his London operation to his legitimate New York business. At least $250 million was transferred in this manner, according to the charges. In 2006 when the SEC launched an investigation into Madoff s dealings it was from persuasion from Markopolos that Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme and he was also a key source for the Mar/Hedge article. The SEC also examined whether Fairfield Greenwich, a giant feeder fund, was properly disclosing the extent of its reliance on Madoff. According to research by Harry Markopolos, it grew from as much as $7 billion in 2000 to as much as $50 billion by the end of 2005. What had started decades before as a small time recruiting effort by Madoff agents at country clubs had gone global. Massive international institutions such as Grupo Santander, Fortis Bank, and Union Bancaire PrivГ©e were all funneling billions sometimes through intermediaries to Madoff, lured by the call of steady 10% to 12% returns. Even one of the world s biggest sovereign funds, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, ended up sinking tens of millions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Communication And The Agile Method Communication is key; these words have been etched into the brain of every student, business professional, and leader in this modern age. Society has an ideology that to reach a common goal, people need to be able to communicate their ideas in a manner that is both productive and understandable. This is why college lectures, books, and scientific papers have been written about communication and the various methods that it can be applied to, including the agile method. The agile method is able to use communication to increase efficiency in productivity by allowing for planned goals, more face to face meetings, and a steady flow of information between participants. To begin with, efficiency is a very important part of both the work and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These meetings between team members allow for participants to focus on what was accomplished, what still needs to be completed, and what obstacles might get in the teams way. The time that is allotted for scrum meetings gives students a chance for reflection where they can discuss what projects must be completed and what ones are a priority (Moses p.2). Frequent meetings can help outline key components of a project, and it can aid teams in learning how plausible a project is. For example, a teacher may conclude that a class can write a ten page paper in one week. However when the students meet and discuss this, they may ask for the project to be broken down into smaller increments (a draft and then a final). The students are able to complete the smaller goal of finishing a draft in one week and then another goal of finishing the paper at a later date. This goal setting allows for students to feel less overwhelmed, all the while allowing them to fulfill more productive and meaningful work. Additionally, setting goals and making an effort to share them with others forces students to be accountable for the work they do. During scrum sessions, students are able to discuss and record their goals for a project. This exchange of information allows for students to understand where they relative to others and it holds them accountable for the work they do. For instance, if a student knows that they are going to have to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role Of Odysseus In Book VIII Of The Odyssey Reading through Book VIII of The Odyssey, allowed the readers to understand more about the life of Odysseus and its relation to the gods through the three songs that Demokos sings throughout the chapter. Demokos sings three different songs with the main themes being adultery, betrayal, pain and strategy. The first song was about a quarrel involving Odysseusand Achilles, presumably before the Trojan Warbegan. On the other hand, the second song involved the story about the affair between Ares and Aphrodite on Hephaistos. While the third song returned to Odysseus and the story of the Trojan horse that resulted in the downfall of Troy. • 7. Carbon Dioxide And Its Effect On Earth s World In today s atmosphere, carbon dioxide (CO2) amounts to 400 parts per million (ppm), but it hasn t always been that high, or low, depending on what we are comparing it to. It is a trace gas that is vital to Earth s atmosphere and has been around since the creation of Earth s first atmosphere, which occurred shortly after the planet s creation. The advent of Earths second atmosphere happened when lighter gases such as hydrogen escaped into space or were bound to molecules, leaving gases like nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other gases that were the product of volcanism to make up the majority of the atmosphere. This volcanic activity was fueled by gases that came to Earth following the late heavy bombardment of huge asteroids . Following... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leading up to the present, levels of CO2 have fluctuated due to geochemical processes such suspension of the gas in sediment, silicate rock weathering, and volcanism. Also, human activity plays a large part in carbon deposition into the atmosphere predominantly through the burning of fossil fuels and the cultivation of livestock. On a drastically larger time scale the carbon cycle is ever so slightly reducing atmospheric CO2 , which will ultimately bring the concentration down near zero, causing all life on the planet to be wiped out. The carbon cycle, including both terrestrial and aquatic processes, is the foundation under which photosynthesis is possible. Aside from the carbon cycle, CO2 is a key element in many other natural processes and phenomena such as the Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming . After the advent of the second atmosphere, the atmosphere had ~100 times as much gas as the current atmosphere , which contained a large amount of CO2 which is believed to have kept the Earth from freezing over. Over the next few billion years the water vapor condensed to form oceans and rain that started to absorb CO2. Eventually 50% of the carbon in the atmosphere would end up suspended in the ocean. This caused ocean acidification, which is the decrease in the pH level of the ocean. Plate tectonics played a large role in the gradual evolution of the atmosphere by transferring carbon dioxide to and from large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Impact Of Sildenafil Citrate On The Drug Industry John Jayasankar AP Biology Mr. Cross Drug Paper October 5, 2014 Viagra History: Viagra also known as sildenafil citrate was originally synthesized at Pfizer headquarters in Sandwich, Kent, England by a group of pharmaceutical chemists in 1989. The two people who are attributed with creating sildenafil citrate, and who were consequently the most important in doing research and development on the drug were chemists Peter Dunn and Albert Wood. They originally composed this drug, sildenafil citrate, to help treat angina and high blood pressure, two symptoms that are usually indicative of coronary heart disease. The drug is classified as UK 92480. Later, in 1991, when the drug is patented by Dr. Nicholas Terrett, who is also referred to as the father of Viagra , sildenafil citrate received its modern name, Viagra. A few years afterward, in the early 1990s, Pfizer compiles several early test in order to prove Viagra s capabilities in reducing angina and treating high blood pressure. These trials, however, prove that Viagra is not effective at treating this symptoms at all, although the trial patients were reporting ongoing erections after consuming Viagra. This got Pfizer thinking, and in March of 1998, Pfizer re patents Viagra and the FDA approves it, and instead markets it as a drug to help people who are suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED), and this time Pfizer has research to back their claim. The other professions that are in the same realm as social work are very specialized, however, social workers must have a broad range of knowledge in order to help their clients. This is where multiple agencies come together to make sure professionals are properly trained and knowledgeable. In the field of social work, ethicsand values are the key principles that provide the basis for the mission. It is these principles that guide the decisions and actions of everyone in the profession. Without a clear set of guiding principles, social work professionals could do more harm than good. This profession sees people during highly emotional times in their lives, and that can be extremely challenging. The National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics not only sets the standards, but also guides a social worker through dealing with ethical dilemmas. As we evolve as a society, so have the guiding principles and values for the social work profession. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has written a code of ethics that serves many purposes. The main purpose is to identify the core ethics and values that provide the foundation for the profession. It details six basic principles for social workers to follow: service, social justice, dignity and worth, human relationships, integrity, and competence (National Association of Social Workers, 1999). The code acts as an ethical guide for students, and those professionals just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Analyse Rembrandt Self Identity I think that a work that Rembrandt painted to satisfy an inner need is Self Portrait with Two Circles, from 1666 1669. It is unlike some of his other self portraits or face studies because it really represents how he saw himself in relation to painting. In his face studies where he uses himself as a model he is not trying to represent himself to others although he does play with light and composition. In his formal self portraits he is shown with garments and jewelry that elevate his status. His earlier self portraits from 1636 38 and 1640 show emphasis on his gold chain and the luxury of the fabric of his hat and clothes. He is youthful, only slight wrinkles and no grey hairs. They contrast to his Artist in His Studio, 1627 28 an early work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He presents himself in costume, with a painters stick and hat. His older age is shown in his wrinkles and greying hair. Rembrandt is still showing dominance of painting with his stance and fantastical costume, as though he is a deity of painting. However, in his Self Portrait with two Circles there is a change in how he represents himself to the viewer and the relationship he has with painting has also changed. There is more light showing his grey hair and the extravagance of his clothes and jewelry has diminished. Although, he is still wearing a gold chain it is not given the same attention as his chains in his earlier portraits. He is wearing a basic painters hat and smock with brushes and palette in his left hand. His identity has moved from master to servant of the art of painting. Rembrandt is no longer hiding behind shadow and objects. I think that Rembrandt had always tried to paint his relationship with painting but in this last self portrait he is able to surrender to his ego as an artist. He goal was to simply paint himself, similarly to The Artist in His Studio. This work satisfies his inner need to represent himself and the act of painting. • 16. Validation In The Canterbury Tales Essay One of the main forces behind humanity s drive to be a good person is validation. Religion is a way for people to become better and receive validation from others. In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer writes about a large group of people on a pilgrimage, who keep themselves occupied by telling stories to each other. The Canterbury Talesshows how many different kinds of people find validation through religion. The Canterbury Tales makes it seem as though the only reason people followed religion was to receive acceptance from others through the Church because the characters do not take religion or Godseriously. Religious figures on the pilgrimage, like the Friar and the Prioress, break their promises of chastity to God constantly, yet they continue to claim they are good figures of the Church because people think more highly of them if they are practicing abstinence. The Prioress is not truly faithful to God, which is seen in her brooch of shining gold; inscribed thereon/ Was, first of all, a crowned A ,/ And under, [love conquers all], (7). The Prioress is a nun who supposedly devoted herself to God through marriage. When a nun declares herself faithful to God, it means that she will practice abstinence. A brooch that says love conquers all implies that the person wearing it is someone for whom their promise to god is second to their desire for worldly love. Likewise, the Prioress also accepts gifts from men, showing once again that she does not take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Heart Disease Heart disease is common among dogs almost as common as it is in humans. If you own a dog, and you have some concerns about your dog s health, it is important to understand what type of heart disease complications your dog may experience, especially in response to infection, illness, diet, and lack of exercise. For many dogs the symptoms and complications of heart disease are similar to what you would expect to see in human symptoms. Heart disease in dogs can be attributed to congenital complications as well. Typically, when your dog is young, you will want to have your dog evaluated to determine if there are any congenital complications that may pre dispose your dog to heart complications early in life. When compounded by heart disease development, due to poor diet or other infections, your dog will typically show signs of poor tolerance for exercise, have some swelling around the stomach and may even show signs of weight loss. When evaluated, your dog s veterinarian is going to listen for the presence of a gallop heart sound which is indicative of swelling in and around the heart. The gallop heart sound will be a sound that is similar to a third heart beat or echo and can typically only be heard with a stethoscope. Heart murmurs in dogs are also quite common and while they can, to some extent, be corrected with surgery, most dogs will live a long time with heart murmur. Robert, the blind man that visits the narrator and his wife, brings out the imagination from within the narrator. The narrator is a dynamic character because he changes his judgment of Robert from a more prejudice view to a more acceptable one. Foreign trade was generally limited to obtaining only those goods that could not be made or obtained in China. Government policies kept the Chinese economy relatively stagnant and inefficient, mainly because most aspects of the economy were managed and run by the central government (and thus there were few profit incentives for firms, workers, and farmers), competition was virtually nonexistent, foreign trade and investment flows were mainly limited to Soviet bloc countries, and price and production controls caused widespread distortions in the economy. When researching the history of higher education there is a common theme in every aspect of my research. I would find the word college and the word university . Throughout the 19th century there would be some confusion between the two words. In colleges the primary role is teaching where as in the university research and scholarships are the primary role (Lucas,2006). Also, current universities offer post baccalaureate or graduate instruction whereas colleges do not. However, this was not always the case before the 19th century. The impact of German university scholarship upon nineteenth century American higher education is one of the most significant in modern intellectual history (Westmeyer, 1985,p. ?). Before the impact of Germany American universities were not research and scholarship based. American scholars were beginning to get frustrated that they did not have the opportunity to develop higher studies within their schools. However, it is perplexing how Mary, the mother of Jesus, miraculously conceived and bore a child as a virgin. On the surface it may seem that it can simply be explained as a one time, divine intervention by God, yet the details surrounding how this phenomenon occurred becomes much more complex after delving into the accounts of this event in the books of Matthew and Luke. There are many issues surrounding who and what the virgin Mary was in regards to her origins and the term virgin used to describe her. Also, how this event manifested, the role Joseph played in this story, are important for unraveling the birth story of Jesus and interpreting it today. I believe that it is reasonable to assume that Jesus was conceived miraculously or supernaturally by a virgin female named Mary, and was naturally born in this world. To have a better understanding of the virginal conception it is important to have background information on the main characters involved, Mary and Joseph. The Proto Gospel, an apostolic writing by Jesus half brother James, offers an omniscient perspective of Mary s origin and upbringing through the birth of Jesus. • 38. A Philosophical Enquiry Into The Origin Of Our Ideas Of... In A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful Edmund Burke writes, It is the nature of grief to keep its object perpetually in its eye, to present it in its most pleasurable views, to repeat all the circumstances that attend to it . Burke s writing attempts to clarify the pictorial, literary, cultural, economic and psychological phenomenon of sublimity, explicating the ways in which power, vastness, obscurity and beauty intersect to form emotional response. A Philosophical Enquiry elucidates why so many Romantic poets and writers would make grief, mourning and death the subjects of their works; the limitless, obscure, infinite theme death corresponds to the existential, contemplative and introspective ideas Romantic writers were attempting to interrogate. But the subject of death in Romantic literature transcends the topic of corporeal death and explores the death of memory, of youth, of innocence and of the past. Furthermore, the Romantic writers were grappling with a shifting, changing society that caused a sense of pervasive loss in their works; as artists, authors and the population attempted to navigate a society characterized by political revolution and technological innovation, poems about mourning act as almost consolatory works. Amongst this writing which attempts to navigate the subject of grief, nature is a recurring element. By examining the locations or settings authors used as a backdrop for their reflections on death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Theory Of Energy, Order, And Disorder The Theory of Energy, Order, and Disorder in the Military and in War Brandon Rodriguez Ramapo College of New Jersey Abstract The theory of energy, order, and disorder/chaos can be applied to any and all aspects of life. This essay focuses on applying this theory to specifically the U.S. military and when in war. The war aspect in this application of energy, order and disorder will also include combat sports, as this can also be seen as a form of warfare. Using research consisting of articles and the like, along with interviews of those with firsthand experience, I hope to illustrate not only how the theory of energy, order, and disorder is present in the United Statesmilitary and in warfare, but also how these things are substantially more orderly than they are usually given credit for. Nonetheless, the essay will also go on to explain that no matter how much effort expended in the hopes of establishing and maintaining order, it is only temporary, and chaotic fallout is inevitable. War is chaos. At least, that s what most people believe. And most people think this because most of the time we are only invited to look at the surface, but what is war really? The everlasting theory of energy, order, and disorder/chaos is one that is proven true time and time again. Whatever, or wherever it may be, the theory remains accurate. Wind Power is the one of the ways that has the biggest potential and is the most practical. And it is predicted to play an important role in electrical generation for the new era. But to think wind power will be the dominant energy source can be too optimistic. How will wind power be used? To what extent will wind power take the place of petroleum? We can find the answers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Decentralized power production can bring immunity to largescale electrical grid failures. As wind turbines can be adapted to this use, increasing amounts of wind power will be utilized as a means to micropower generation. These examples suggest that wind power will be used in ways that correspond to each needed capacity and purpose. In the article Wind Energy: An Untapped Resource, the Wind Energy Association estimates the potential amount of wind power generation capacity in the U.S.A. at 10,777 billion kW/h, which is three times the electricity generated in the U.S.A. today. However, it also predicts that we are unlikely ever to use even half of that potential. In fact, in 2000, the U.S.A. was using less than 1% of that potential! This is because wind power is not always the superior method, and there are some problems still to be solved. In the article Nuclear Now, Schwarts and Keiss point out some problems with wind power generation. First the Whish, Whish sound of the turning fan might bother the people living nearby. Business ethics, or also known as corporate ethics, is a form of ethics that is used in the business environment. The study of business ethics looks at the decisions that businesses make and whether those decisions taken are right or wrong. Many company executives are unethical, because their number one goal is not to satisfy customers, or clients; Instead their number one goal is to make as much profit as they can no matter what. What this type of companies fail to realize is that there is long run and short run profit maximization. A company can maximize its profits by in the short run by being unethical; however, in the long run, the bad publicity, lawsuits, etc. will make the company suffer plenty in both the public appearance and the monetary aspect. Italian harpsichords differed from others in that they normally were made of extremely thin wood and then placed in a stronger outer case of the same shape. A second important school of building developed in the 16th and 17th centuries in Flanders, centered around the influential Ruckers family of builders. These schools gave way in the 18th century to distinctive styles of building that developed in France (the Blachet family), Germany (the Hass family), and England (Jacob Kirkman). Harpsichords of the different national schools varied in details of their proportions and construction, resulting in slight, although characteristic differences in tone color. Modern Developments In the 20th century, two broad approaches to harpsichord building emerged. The first utilized recent principles of construction, such as are found in present day pianos. The doctrine of the Trinityis commonly expressed as: One God, three Persons , but this word Trinity does not appear in the Bible. So the doctrine is formally defined in the Nicene Creed, which declares Jesus to be: God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father. in 325, the Council of Nicea set out to officially define the relationship of the Son to the Father, in response to the controversial teachings of... Athanasius then famously said Athanasius against the world . The Cappadocian Fathers also took up the torch; their Trinitarian discourse was influential in the council at Constantinople.Up until about 360, theological debates mainly dealt with the Divinity of Jesus, the 2nd person of the Trinity. However, because the Council of Nicaea had not clarified the divinity of the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity, it became a topic of debate. The council affirmed the original Nicene Creed of faith as true and an accurate explanation of Scripture. This council also developed a statement of faith which included the language of Nicaea, but expanded the discussion on the Holy Spirit to combat the heresy of the Pneumatomachi. It is called the Nicene Creed of 381 and was a commentary on the original Nicene formula. It expanded the third article of the creed dealing with the Holy Spirit, as well as some other changes. About the Holy Spirit the article of faith said he is the Lord, the Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified . The statement of proceeding from the Father is seen as significant because it established that the Holy Spirit must be of the same being as God the Father. Return On Investments ( Roi ) Return on Investments (ROI) is an excellent tool that business professionals use to measure the benefit an organization receives by administrating the training program. The formula for ROI is the ratio of the results divided by the training costs. An example of ROI is the dollar value of productivity divided by training costs. A company benefits from administrating a training program if the ratio of results to costs is high. There are apparently many formulas out there that organizations are using for ROI, but the formula recommended to use for training return on investment would be Training ROI = (Total returns Training cost) / Training cost (Schmidt). Management in many organizations requires proof that training is financially justified and a good return on investment. If not, then the cost of training may possibly be reduced. It is all about the money that an organization can or cannot afford to use for the purpose of training. There are some critics who feel that ROI is not a necessity, whereas there are some critics who feel that ROI is an important necessity for an organization now more than ever.
