There are signs of progress in Spain. This is something we can be proud of and rejoice in the Lord for. Still, there is a lot left to be done. When we compared Spain with the Spanish speaking countries of the world in 2001, the need in Spain was 10 times greater than in Uruguay, the country with the lowest rate of Evangelicals in Latin America. Just think, if the Guatemalans want everybody in their country to have an opportunity to understand the gospel each believer has to share the gospel with 3 people and they have finished their job. In Uruguay, each believer is responsible for preaching to 22 people. In Spain the job for every believer is to share the gospel with 250 people.
Apart from the Muslim countries and North Korea, Spain has the greatest need for the message of the Gospel. Imagine for a minute traveling through Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Try to imagine going through all the major cities and towns looking for an Evangelical church and not being able to find even one. That is the extension of the need in Spain. There are 13,700 people who live in towns and cities without even one believer that we know of who could share the gospel with them.
