The Year-Round School Debate
A common debate among educators and school board members is the idea of year round schooling.
While many think this is best for students education, there are factors that could make it so it doesn t
affect their education or it makes matters worse. Most students are great full for their summer break.
They schedule family vacations, which are very important, and they are able to keep jobs with little to
no conflict in the summer. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively affect students.
There are solutions other than making school go all year round.
A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks after a set amount of
dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of attending school a year. One idea that a
school using year round school might use is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for
60 days and get 20 days off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. (Vandewater) ... Show

Also, the workload required of the teachers will go up. In addition, the students will be busy with
school work when they are usually on summer break. This is when most students will get jobs so that
school doesn t interfere. An employer will not want an employee that has to leave every week or so (
The Year Round School Debate ).
On the opposing side, researchers say that the long three months in the summer that students are not
attending school is when they lose the most information. Another benefit to switching to year round
schooling is that students will not get bored over the summer. They will have shorter breaks. It is also
said that hiring a tutor over the summer is not as good as some may think (Kalil). According to
another study, teachers and students don t have to spend as much time reviewing material that the
students learned the previous year. Also some schools that have switched to year round, got extra
funds

Character Analysis Of Joe Rantz s The Boys In The Boat
Joe Rantz: From abandoned boy to a victor The nonfiction memoir The Boys in the Boat explores how
Joe Rantz is deeply influenced by positive ideas and actions when in a crew, in love, and in his family.
This story talks about the journey of Joe, an abandoned boy from a child had been fighting for life to
become a successful man, a member of Olympic gold medal in 1936. In addition the pain which
surrounded him; there were also positive factors that helped him to become a victor man in the future.
In this essay, I will discuss the roles of three elements which affected directly to Joe; they are his
rowing team, his family, and his love. The first important factor to influence to Joe s life is his rowing
crew on the boat. Joe from a child who had nothing to a success man; it thanked his team too much.
He stared to join this team when he was a freshman at the University of Washington, from that his life
changed a lot. He had more friends, more relationships, a real job; and this also a motivation for Joe to
begin an independent life and improving living. However, it was very hard to become the main
member of this crew; he had to throughout many selected processes, even there was a once he was
eliminated from his team. Therefore, he tried his best too much to get this opportunity to become a
part of an Olympic crew. Furthermore, Joe s team had to experience too many challenges with
difficulties to get success. They had to train in very poor conditions and their practicing was not
stable. There have been times when they have lost the opportunity to become the Olympic team of
America. By the time with his team, Joe had more experiences of life, thought of other people and
perhaps this was the first time in his life there was teammate who loved and thought of him. They
were from normal freshmen boys to the team won Gold Medal of Olympic; this winning affected Joe s
life so much. The author said that: In those final few meters, Joe and the boys had finally forged the
prize they had sought all season, the prize Joe had sought nearly all his life. Each had entirely given
himself up to be a part of something larger and more powerful and more important than himself
(Brown, 207). He showed to

Artificial Neural Network Essay
In these project functional models of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) is proposed to aid existing
diagnosis methods. ANNs are currently a hot research area in medicine, particularly in the fields of
radiology, cardiology, and oncology. In this an attempt is made to make use of ANNs in the medical
field One of the important goals of Artificial Neural Networks is the processing of information similar
to human interaction actually neural network is used when there is a need for brain capabilities and
machine idealistic. The advantages of neural network information processing arise from its ability to

Also it includes resizing of image data. 2.2 Image Segmentation: Image Segmentation is concerned
about segmenting the image into various segments using various techniques. In early days a semi
automatic approach was being used to detect the exact boundaries of the brain tumor. However the
semiautomatic methods were not very successful as they had human induced errors and were time
consuming. A better application of tumor detection was made by introducing fully automated tumor
detection systems. Various methods have been proposed like Markov random fields method, Fuzzy c
means (FCM) clustering, Otsu s thresholding, K Mean s, neural network. In this project, four different
algorithms namely Otsu s method, Thresholding, K means method and Fuzzy c means and PSO have
been used for designing the brain tumor extraction system. Various segmentation techniques which
will be used in this project to segregate the different regions on the basis of interest are described as
follows: a) K means: K means is a clustering technique which aims to partition a set of observations
so as to minimize the within cluster sum of squares (WCSS). The evaluating function for an image a
(m, n) is given as: c(i)=Arg min|mxy2 nxy2| Where i is the no. of clusters in which the image is to be
partitioned. b) Otsu s Method: Otsu s Method divides the image into two classes of regions namely
foreground and background. The background and foreground regions are selected using the following

Exploitation Of Women In Advertising Research Paper
The exploitation of women in Ads
What are the dangers for the companies to use such types of ads? What are the different reactions of
men and women to this kind of ads ?
Introduction
The exploitation of women in the media has been part of the advertising industry since its beginning,
although the level to which women have been exploited has changed drastically. Advertising is a
highly visible and seemingly controversial agent of socialization (Paff, Lakner, 1997). Indeed, it
appears everywhere in our lives, on television, on the internet, on busses, in our mailbox, in
magazines, and now in the toilets of our favourite restaurants or nightclubs. Jean Kilbourne, one of the
best known advocate of raising awareness about the exploitation of ... Show more content on

Advertising ideologically shapes our perceptions of beauty and strongly influences our ideas, attitudes
and values within one s culture. Advertisers achieve this powerful and direct communication through
signifying practices which gives meaning to words and images (Kang, 1997). For example, the
exploitation of women is most apparent in TV beer commercials, where the promise of sex and fun is
the norm (Hall, Crum, 1994). For example, the Swedish Bikini Team commercial for Old Milwaukee
beer. In this commercial, large breasted blond women wearing bikinis were portrayed as fun
companions brought in especially to party with very few men.. Through the exploitation of women in
advertisements, this oppression leads to social problems, such the development of eating disorders by
young women attempting to achieve the conditioned idea of the ideal image (Kang, 1997).
A lack of identification which creates negative attitudes
The notion that female products are sold from a male perspective is an important concept because it is
a form of systematic male oppression, that most are aware of, yet still support and surrender to, or at
the very most give minimal opposition. Visual images are especially important when influencing
women s buying behavior as most readers of advertisement look at the illustration, read the headline,
read the body copy, in that order (Kang, 1997). Although, several journal articles, like the

Circadian Rhythms
Increasing evidence suggests that there is highly regulated relationship between immune function,
sleep, and circadian rhythms. Understanding this complex relationship is clinically relevant because
desynchronization of circadian rhythms and disruptions in sleep are associated with higher likelihood
of disease. It has been demonstrated that there is a bidirectional flux of circadian information between
the immune and neuroendocrine system (Mavroudis, Scheff, Calvano, Androulakis, 2012). The
interactions between these two systems work in concert to optimize immune responses that are vital in
down regulating diseases. Outside factors, such as shift work, chronic stress, and inherited diseases
can disrupt these interactions. The entrainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Glucocorticoids bind to the glucocorticoid receptor, which promotes an anti inflammatory response.
Studies have shown how adrenergic receptor signal can suppress NK activity, as well as alter the
behavior of other immune components such as T helper cells, monocytes, and cytokines (Born, Lange,
Hansen, Molle, Fehm, 1997). Epinephrine and norepinephrine bind to adrenergic receptors, which has
various effects on the immune system. These effects include the activation of neutrophils and NK cells

communications best practices and can be divided into three phrases: (1) pre crisis, (2) crisis response,
and (3) post crisis.
Pre crisis Best Practices
The first set of crisis communication best practices, pre crisis, focuses on prevention the act of seeking
to reduce known risks that could lead to a crisis and preparation the act of creating training, and
testing a crisis management plan and crisis management team (Coombs, 2007). Crisis management
plans (CMP) are reference tools (i.e. key contacts information, crisis step reminders, forms, etc.) that
save crisis management teams (CMT) pre selected members of an organization time during a crisis.
Once created, CMPs enable an organization to react quicker and more efficiently to a crisis. Common
members of an organization s CMT include, but are not limited to: an organization s CEO, Chief of
Public Relations, Vice President, Social Media Manager, legal counsel and Senior Manager in charge
of the area involved in the crisis. Collectively, these members will work together to enact the
organization s crisis management plan in order to facilitate an effective organizational response
(Coombs, 2007a). The members will be charged with gathering facts; identifying specific key publics;
preparing and creating key messages (including self efficacy messages if necessary), preparing and

Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Be 100
It is quite interesting to know how long people live, and what is the average lifespan of a human
being. Dan Buettner longevity expert in his presentation How to Live to Be 100+ argues the lifestyle
from the world s longest lived people and provide a model for extending our longevity through natural
movement and purposeful living. He shows how we can compare our lifestyle to those living in the
Blue Zone s and what we can take away from their routines, diets, exercise and other beliefs. In
addition, it is important to look at our current lifestyle and habits, if we are living in a way that is
going to help us reach our potential maximum life span. With the right lifestyle, there are chances that
we may live up to a decade longer. I agree with the Blue Zones lifestyle. In order to live longer and

For people in the blue zones it comes in natural as Buettner says, they were either born into or they
proactively surrounded with the right people (11). However, the way to establish a healthier system is
to surround yourself with family members and good friends who you could share your stories with
them. Having a good, system of support not only enables peoples to help each other, but also enables
them to express their feelings, including happiness and sadness s and other aspect of confidence. For
example, when we are feeling bad everything in the world seems differently to us, because our bad
mood can affect our thinking process, but talking to someone you trust or a good friend who shares
your value could propose a good solution that can help to reduce your stresses and find away to solve
your problem. Therefore, being connected with good people is a natural way to decrease stress and

Cost-effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization...
The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was
designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research
question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program
would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a
rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in
setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers,
doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole.
To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an
appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused
on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision
analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies
elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the
organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint.
Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence
rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected
children, and vaccine coverage. The

Vostok Lab Report
Title: Global warming, a natural interglacial change on temperature.
Abstract:
Global warming has been widely discussed all around the world as it is an issue that affects the living
of all mankind in the world. It is argued that the anthropogenic changes posse more influence on the
climate change to the Earth, compared to the naturally driven glacial and interglacial changes in
temperature. This report is based on the Vostok Core by faculty at Columbia University as an example
for us to investigate global climate change. Author of this report believes global warming is just part
of the long term temperature fluctuation during the interglacial period as there is no convincing and
valid evidence that shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CO2, dust and CH4 are the main source of greenhouses gases, which are produced mainly by human
activities. If that is the case, the composition of CO2, dust and CH4 should be coherent to the change
of temperature of the Earth. Yet, it is not shown from the data.
Moreover, there are lots of different factors that keep affecting the temperature of the Earth. The
energy of the sun, the albedo effect, Milakovitch Cycles, plate tectonics are the examples of the
factors that affect the temperature.
Conclusion
To conclude, based the given data, it is difficult to prove that anthropogentic changes are stronger than
the glacial and interglacial changes in temperature, as there are not enough valid evidence from the
lab. Studying climate change is not a short term issue. However, due to the limited technology level
and the knowledge of the Earth, we could not obtain concise data to investigate the climate change.
The ice core could be one of the proxies that help us to understand the climatic condition in the past. It
is suggested to compare more other proxies, in order to draw conclusion of the main reason and the
trend of climate change.

Jamaica is known for its jerked chicken, clear waters, and...
Jamaica is known for its jerked chicken, clear waters, and more notably for Reggae, which makes
Jamaican culture globally recognized. However, despite its mainstream entertainment value of today,
reggae is not only music; however it is a way of life for some Jamaicans. It originated as a political
form of protest against the colonial forces operative in the social context of Jamaican life. Musical
ambassadors like the Abyssinians, Burning Spear, Sir Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny
Wailer, and Rita Marley, along with many others, can be credited with introducing reggae music to the
world and giving it international recognition. Yet, despite its popularity, many do not understand the

Artists would essentially hit two birds with one stone. The first bird was the ability to simply perform
their music. However the second bird isn t as simple as the first, it is the meaning. The second was the
protest against the Babylon system and oppression. To the Rastafari, the Babylon system is any and all
oppressive and unequal practices in Jamaica. Babylon began to surface throughout reggae music.
Reggae lyrics are suggestive of the reggae protest songs. Bob Marley is a great example of capturing
his strong negative views of Babylon. Reggae protest songs proved to be a force with power, both
socially and politically. Ironically the Jamaican government would use reggae as a vehicle to promote
its views (King, xiv).
Reggae never lost and will never lose its association with music and the Rastafari culture. It remains a
revolutionary form of explanatory art. Music never remains stagnate, it will always evolve. Roots
reggae; a sub genre of Reggae, was dominant in Jamaica in the cohort of 1975 1980. Roots reggae
tackles the life of a ghetto sufferer and discusses truths and rights (Barrow and Dalton, 129).
Dancehall and the incorporation of hip hop rhythms was the new addition of reggae. Dancehall
became widely used after the death of Bob Marley in 1981 (Barrow and Dalton, 231). In the 1990 s
there comes a new generation of reggae artists. It was able to combine conscious lyrics with the
distinctive hardcore dancehall beats. Current reggae artists

Dicore Case Study
1. External Analysis
In order to understand the environment of the mining industry and evaluate Dicore s competitors and
customers, this chapter will adopt some tools, such as PESTEL and Porter s five forces, to analyze the
external environment of Dicore International.
2.1. PESTEL Analysis
The PESTEL framework is often used to analyze the broad macro environment of an organization
(Johnson et al, 2014). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry can
be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors.
2.2.1. Political Factors
There were two bans on offshore drilling raised during 1980s in the United States, in response to the
damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a comfortable
working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational productivity.
2.2.4. Technological Factors
The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment,
which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow down
the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling. Besides,
better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in damaging
equipment or mineral.
2.2.5. Ecological Factors
The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the
southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to
reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment.
2.2.6. Legal Factors
More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in
southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s
performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might
change the macro environment.
2.2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis
The Five Forces Framework will be adopted in this chapter to identify the attractiveness of the drilling

The Origins of Star Wars
The Origins of Star Wars Not so long ago in a galaxy a bit closer to home, George Lucas crafted one
of the most iconic movies of all time. That movie was soon followed by a series of mind bending
movies that captured the hearts and minds of generations up to this day. From light saber duels to the
destructive power of the Death Star, Star Wars is one movie saga that we are all familiar with. But
how did this captivating series come to be? How did it all begin? Just how did George Lucas come up
with such brilliant ideas for Star Wars? What are the true origins of Star Wars? Not many people know

From their philosophies to the way they do battle to the way the dress, the powerful Jedi Knights of
the Star Wars galaxy have clear parallelisms with our galaxy s Samurais. Examples of these
parallelisms are the robes that the Jedi used are quite similar to the robes that the Samurai used,
another one is the Japanese katana that the Samurais used in battle and the Light Saber that the Jedi
used to keep the peace. George Lucas also borrowed ideas from other samurai movies such as Sanjuro
and Yojimbo both by Akira Kurosawa. Apart from having Asian origins, Star Wars also has Western
background. One of the earliest science fiction graphic novels known to man is Flash Gordon. It s
clear why George Lucas took some of Flash Gordon s concepts and applied it with his own films.
Flash Gordon however, also borrowed it s concepts with an even earlier sci fi comic strip: Buck
Rogers. One of the clearest similarities between Star Wars and Flash Gordon is the signature roll up
that is present in the start of every Star Wars movie. One less noticeable similarity is the vocabulary of
Flash Gordon (which was also taken from Buck Rogers). Since Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers were
the only ones that mentioned of futuristic space travel and intergalactic battles, George Lucas based
the vocabulary of Star Wars on these two science fiction works of his time. The technology and the
gadgets of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers were also of great influence

Black Like Me By John Howard Griffin
In the book Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin the reader can experience life on the other side of
the color line through his words. John Howard Griffin was an author, more specifically was a
journalist and a specialist on race issues. His desire was to know if Southern whites were racist against
the Negro population of the Deep South, or if they really judged people based on the individual s
personality as they said. Because of this he felt that they had encouraged him to cross the color line
and write Black Like Me. He became another person so he could tell the story of being a black man in
the 1950s south. After his experience Griffin became a leading advocate in the Civil Rights
Movement. He did a lot to promote awareness of the racial situations. John Griffin, in the beginning of
the story is a white man from a nice neighborhood with a wife and two kids. He is medium height but
very large around the middle. However, Griffin wanted to experience firsthand the obstacles and
hardships of being black in America so that he may understand what life is like for blacks. Griffin
underwent a series of medical treatments to change his skin color temporarily to black. He went to his
dermatologist for help. He took pills to darken his skin tone; he used a sun lamp to darken it more.
The transformation was complete when Griffin shaved off his hair, looked in the mirror, and saw a

The Apache and the Maya are Prominent Native Tribes from...
Two prominent native tribes of the Americas are the Maya and the Apache. These great tribes lived in
different places. The Maya lived in what is now modern day Central America, while the Apache
largely lived in the southwest deserts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. They both have a rich
history and cultural heritage. However, the Mayan and the Apache tribes have many differences, in
their environment, social structures, their adaptations to the environment, and the effect of European
contact on the tribes.

When the Maya began settling in the lowlands of what is now northern Guatemala around 1000 BCE,
they cleared thick tropical forests in order to farm. They grew crops like beans, squash, avocados and
corn. The forest provided food sources like deer, rabbits and monkeys, and building materials like
wood, vines and mud for their houses. Through increased trade, small isolated Mayan villages grew
into large cities. While the Apache used to live in wickiups, made of wooden frames covered by a
buffalo hide tarp, nowadays they live in modern houses and apartment buildings. Traditionally, the
Apache were hunters. The men hunted antelope, buffalo, and deer, while the women collected fruits
and nuts from their surroundings. These days, however their main staple food consists of corn. The
Europeans have different impact on the Maya and the Apache. The Europeans did not have such a big
effect on the Mayan civilization as they did on the Apache. The Mayan civilization had already
collapsed when Spanish conquerors arrived at the Americas in the 1500s. In the late 1800s, the Apache
engaged in warfare against the United States government. Despite putting a strong resistance against
the aggression to take over the Apache s land, the Apache had to surrender in the end and were
subjected to confined life in reservations.

Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism
In chapter three Weber presents the final drawback between the Protestant ethic and the spirit of
capitalism. As previously mentioned, Weber also introduced the idea of a calling to worldly pursuits.
As he describes in this chapter, Lutheranism has a divinely sanctioned place in the world, but for the
first time the question of how well one performed and their role became significant. Conversely,
Weber does not consider that belief in a calling is adequate to explain the spirit of capitalism. With this
in mind, a calling can adhere to traditionalism since it implies that an individual should assume their
position in society without further motiviation to become more. Catholicism after all was the basis for
the traditional worldview. As an

A technology that comes to mind is server virtualization. We use them every day in the government as
we work toward going green, lower cost, increasing productivity. Since the migration to the virtual
servers we were able to cut paper files by ¾. We use a digital contract file now instead of a 6 pile

Random Act Of Kindness In Nursing Research Paper

Virgil Portrays The Main Female Characters Of The Aeneid
Virgil portrays the main female characters of the Aeneid as stubborn, selfish individuals who
manipulate those around them to accomplish their goals. As seen throughout the first six books of the
poem, Juno acts against Aeneas because he is destined to found Rome and destroy Carthage a city
dear to her heart. Juno also disrupts the order in the mortal world because she is still hurt about the
time when Paris, a Trojan male, does not recognize her as the most gorgeous woman on earth. Virgil
also portrays Venus as obstructive and self centered because her goal is to ensure that somebody from
her lineage founds Rome so that she can receive worship for such accomplishment. Due to this
behavior, one can argue that the women of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juno s action is a clear obstruction to the human world, but more importantly to the task that Aeneas is
to undertake, and thus, to politics . Virgil s depiction of women is not only that they act on selfish
desires, but also that they make life unnecessarily complicated overall. Before Juno convinces Aeolus
to summon the winds of destruction, Aeneas has a clear path to Italy; however, due to Juno, he is
forced off his path, and the founding of Rome is in jeopardy. The other important female figure Venus,
the goddess of love attempts to cover up her selfish desires when she pretends to worry about Aeneas
safety and well being when all she desires is for someone from her lineage to found Rome so that she
can get praise. This is depicted when Jupiter tells Venus, My Cytherea, that s enough of fear; your
children s fate is firm; you ll surely see the walls I promised you, Lavinium s city; and you shall carry
your great son, Aeneas, high as heaven s stars (Virgil 1: 358 362). Venus is so obsessed with making
sure Aeneas arrives in Italy safely so that he can found Rome that she obstructs the order in the human
world by making Queen Dido fall in love with Aeneas. This is evident when Virgil reveals Venus s
plan: ... Cupid, changed in form and feature... inflame the queen to madness and insinuate a fire in
Dido s very bones (Virgil

Nuclear Bomb Argument Analysis
There are many problems in the world as many know, but the circumstances and severity are not
always completely acknowledged. Not everyone in this generation is invested in the world
surrounding them, and it is truly concerning. To some, conflicts are not considered entirely until they

its presence has been endured frequently throughout this generation. However, one of the more
longstanding threats which were used over the course of history are nuclear bombs. The concern for

At the start of the article, the author was very straight forward and asserted the concerns at hand. The

Iran poses. To reveal Iran s power the author simulates fear from the audience especially in the quote
that states, One of the most pressing foreign policy challenges facing the world: concerns that Iran
could be building a nuclear bomb. As the author was so straight forward as he revealed the downright
possibility of a catastrophic bomb, it initiates fear in any reader s mind. Also, because this line was
used only in the second sentence, it was effective in asserting a deep rooted problem at hand, and was
also quite intimidating. As the author revealed that this threat of a nuclear bomb is only a possibility,
the uncertainty of Iran s true intentions also spawns an unease. Any kind of threat as this is alarming
even if its authenticity is invalid, especially when it is revealed in such a forthright manner. It is truly
frightening that something as powerful as a nuclear bomb, could potentially obliterate a large fraction

Life Insurance Benefits
When it comes to the life settlement industry, the viatical settlement industry brought it to fruition.
The people who originally took out life insurance were those suffering from terminal illnesses like
AIDS and cancers who only may have had a few years or so to live. Those who sold their insurance
policies were looking for a way to get an immediate return in monetary value from someone who had
purchased the policy from them. When medical breakthroughs in the fight against the AIDS virus took

Favorite Learning Experience
During my early years of life, I absolutely loved learning new things. I would wonder around the
house and garage and look for items that were interesting. I was a very tactile child, in which I needed
to touch and feel objects and items in order to learn about them. My parents and grandparents taught
me to count at a young age using money and household items. For example, every morning, I went to
McDonalds with my grandfather, and I purchased a cappuccino to take home for my grandmother. The
overall cost of the coffee would be 95 cents, and I would receive a nickel in change. When we left
McDonalds, my grandfather would give me the nickel as long as I saved the nickels and counted them
in the pickup truck. At a young age, I had already learned the alphabet and numbers. My absolute
favorite learning activity and form of play as a young child included spending time with my
grandfather on the new land, in which I helped build the house. I followed him around, played on the
dirt pile, and was interested in the tools he would use to build cars and furniture.
From birth to three years old, I was intrigued by toys that played music. For example, I used rattles to
make noise, and I played music with a toy xylophone. My parents and grandparents also assisted in
reading books with sounds and different textures for sensory input. My family also bought me a
musical activity gym where I could flat on my back on a mat with a variety of toys that played music

Increased Patient Responsibility
We like to think of medicine as a vast sea of knowledge, a science of certainty and applied research
intended to heal and cure. Patients visit their doctors expecting to be diagnosed, prescribed, and
treated. For several patients, this optimistic outlook is in fact the order of things. But, for many others,
medicine is an experimental endeavor and very human in nature. Atul Gawande, in his collection of
essays entitled Complications: A Surgeon s Notes on an Imperfect Science, sheds light on this view of
medicine as a field of possibilities and dead ends, improvements and failures. In spite of the many
changes brought forth by medicine, the evolution of the patient and doctor relationship into one that

This once popular perception of medicine is in a sense antiquated. Still, by admitting that there exists a
discrepancy between the past and present views of the patient doctor dynamic, the expanding role of
the patient can be recognized. The riskiness and unpredictability of medical care have made
physicians more anxious in terms of the treatments they recommend to their patients, such that the
patients are now the ultimate authority with respect to their health. Doctors today are taking a more
liberal approach to medicine. This development has indirectly provided patients with the freedom to
explore their own personal medical goals. Gawande describes the case of a twenty one year old
woman who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in one of her breasts. Her surgeon, who normally
advised his patients with breast cancer to undergo a mastectomy, felt forced to reconsider this
operation, as he was hesitant about removing the breast of a woman so young. He instead discussed
with her other possible treatment options, explaining their benefits and risks (211). The patient,
provided with the proper information and resources, was given the opportunity to define her own well
being. It was a decision that she would have to live with for the rest of her life, and so only she had the
right to make that decision. Such issues have modified the patient experience by

Erikson s Psychosocial Analysis
An infant goes through many changes that he or she does or happens when transitioning to middle
childhood. On a physical level an infant starts to move on it s own, they start to feed themselves, and
their body grows. Changes in muscle composition lead to increases in strength that, enable 1 year olds
to walk, run, jump, climb, and so on (88). On a cognitive level they start to realize depth perception. In
an experiment they used a visual cliff , a mat that makes the floor look like there s a cliff, where the
mother tries to make the baby go onto the cliff . But because the infant can perceive depth, he fears
that he will fall if he comes toward her, so he stays put, looking concerned (98). Because the infant

For right now we re only going to talk about infancy until middle childhood. Infancy begins at birth
and ends when children begin to use language, so Erik Erikson s psychosocial stages would begin with
the first stage which is birth to a year old which would be trust versus mistrust stage. The positive
characteristics gained and typical activities an infant would do is to trust in primary caregiver and in
one s own ability to make things happen (secure attachment to caregiver is key) (27). This means that
an infant from the age of birth to a year old would rely on his or her parents which is the primary
caregiver to make things happen like eating, changing his or her diaper, feeling loved, being held,
being bathed, and many other things that are important for an infant to basically survive. The second
stage is from one to three years old, this stage is called autonomy versus shame and doubt. In this
stage new physical skills lead to demand for more choices, most often seen as saying no to caregivers;
child learns self care skills such as toileting (27). Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory is a grand

housewife who does the same thing every day. In this poem, women are tired and outraged of the
limits of their occupation. The poem shows this by the tone of the first line women are burning . This
shows that women all over America are fed up and angry for being stuck at the house. I believe that
burning gives a negative connotation. So when I hear burning this makes me think that the person is

site of cultural exchange because when the people of the north seen their wealth they went to
trade,exchange ideas and share religion.
Mali became a cultural exchange because years before the empire of Mali arised the empire of ghana
was already there it had already attracted people from the north to trade for gold.
The first reason Mali became a site of cultural exchange is because they were the wealthiest empire in
africa located west of africa and people up north started traveling down west africa to trade for gold
and when people from foreign countries come to a new country they will share their culture along with
trading their goods.
According to The Ghana empire by U.C Davis Social Science in the year 2014 it states Mali was one
of three medieval kingdoms that ruled over West Africa. The first empire was Ghana, which was ruled
by a king from the Soninke people and Trade with the Arabs did not create the Ghana empire, but it
certainly made the rulers and merchants of Ghana much richer .These quotes show that Ghana was
one of the strongest and wealthy kingdoms and Mali was one of those strong, wealthy kingdoms and a
cultural exchange site. This proves that Mali was

A Worn Path Essay
A Worn Path
A Worn Path is, in my opinion, a very good story. It tells of an old black woman and the struggles she
s had to deal with throughout her life. The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird
that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the
woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she
apparently considers her biggest gift.
The author never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, but we know she s made it
before because the attendants knew who she was when she came in the building. It is a very long trip
because the hunter even said that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is very determined and stubborn during her walk.
The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white
society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is
uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to
make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect
on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much
she loves him dead or alive.
At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost,
when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is
alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or
forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is
where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious.
Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated
her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how
insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good
example of this is when she takes the nickel from the

The Fast Fashion Industry
Imagine having to wake up everyday knowing that you have the tough task as a child going to the
factory just to go a make fabric and clothing for people you do not even know. Just because they want
more.
When there is a high demand for goods from consumers in order to get more there needs to be more
factories and workers in order to produce more.Consumers are the main reason for the goods being
ethically produced. They are the ones who want the product , so when they ask for more companies
have no choice but build more and do it quickly and once they are built so fast the environment also
suffers. For example , in Bangladesh Factory are being produced so quickly that and end up not being
as stable as it is suppose to be. Hundreds of factories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example in the article How your addiction to fashion kills the author Susan Scafidi uses three of
the appeals used in order to tell help people see what a high demand for products can do. For example
the author uses logos in order to explain to us how we are able to get goods so fast from cheap labor.
In the article it states The reason we have fast fashion is the cheap exploited labor around the world,
said Cline. She estimates that less than 10% of what we re wearing... was made in factories where
people were paid a living wage and working in safe and legal conditions. This explains that we rarely
wear clothes that was produced from safe and good paying factories. As consumers we should turn the
heat down and let it simmer for a minute. Is it really fair to workers who make most of our clothes?
Scafidi also states Yet with the demand for fast fashion an all time high, more and more clothes are
being made in the kinds of conditions that morally offend a lot of people in the Western world and
without these kinds of well publicized tragedies, shoppers don t even think about it. Scafidi displays
the use of pathos in order to help us feel and understand that we do not agree or support how people
are enrolled into harsh labor , yet we continue and fail to realize what is going on until tragedies like
the Bangladesh factory collapse occurs. As consumers Scafidi wants us

Baptism And The Lord s Supper Essay
According to David Scaer, Thomas Baima comprehensively understands the presence of Christ in the
Lord s Supper within the trinitarian context that includes the three divine persons: The Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit. The trinitarian communion is first communicated with the thought that Jesus is
equally divine and man and then in all the sacraments. Therefore, Lutherans can declare that god and
humanity are united sacraments. According to Thomas Baima, whose proposition David Scaer
explores, baptism is a sacrament that is irreplaceable as it remains with the believer for the rest of their
life. It is therefore evident that the ritual of baptism is a base upon which other sacraments may be
built. From the idea of baptism as a sacrament emerges the concept of sacrament being defined as a
sacrifice. The initial label as sacrifice allows the definition of sacrament to also extend to anamnesis,
which is the recalling or reminiscence of a historical event. Baima provides two examples to
accentuate the definition: the baptism and the Lord s Supper. In the baptism, the people participate in
the death and the resurrection of Christ. The death of Christ represents his sacrifice made for the
purpose of washing away the sins of his followers. In return, the followers receive the sacrament of
the sacrifice of Christ. In the same manner, the reception of Christ s blood and body during the
communion signifies the sacrifice of the Christ which is then received as the sacrament to the

  • 2. The Year-Round School Debate A common debate among educators and school board members is the idea of year round schooling. While many think this is best for students education, there are factors that could make it so it doesn t affect their education or it makes matters worse. Most students are great full for their summer break. They schedule family vacations, which are very important, and they are able to keep jobs with little to no conflict in the summer. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively affect students. There are solutions other than making school go all year round. A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks after a set amount of dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of attending school a year. One idea that a school using year round school might use is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for 60 days and get 20 days off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. (Vandewater) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the workload required of the teachers will go up. In addition, the students will be busy with school work when they are usually on summer break. This is when most students will get jobs so that school doesn t interfere. An employer will not want an employee that has to leave every week or so ( The Year Round School Debate ). On the opposing side, researchers say that the long three months in the summer that students are not attending school is when they lose the most information. Another benefit to switching to year round schooling is that students will not get bored over the summer. They will have shorter breaks. It is also said that hiring a tutor over the summer is not as good as some may think (Kalil). According to another study, teachers and students don t have to spend as much time reviewing material that the students learned the previous year. Also some schools that have switched to year round, got extra funds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Character Analysis Of Joe Rantz s The Boys In The Boat Joe Rantz: From abandoned boy to a victor The nonfiction memoir The Boys in the Boat explores how Joe Rantz is deeply influenced by positive ideas and actions when in a crew, in love, and in his family. This story talks about the journey of Joe, an abandoned boy from a child had been fighting for life to become a successful man, a member of Olympic gold medal in 1936. In addition the pain which surrounded him; there were also positive factors that helped him to become a victor man in the future. In this essay, I will discuss the roles of three elements which affected directly to Joe; they are his rowing team, his family, and his love. The first important factor to influence to Joe s life is his rowing crew on the boat. Joe from a child who had nothing to a success man; it thanked his team too much. He stared to join this team when he was a freshman at the University of Washington, from that his life changed a lot. He had more friends, more relationships, a real job; and this also a motivation for Joe to begin an independent life and improving living. However, it was very hard to become the main member of this crew; he had to throughout many selected processes, even there was a once he was eliminated from his team. Therefore, he tried his best too much to get this opportunity to become a part of an Olympic crew. Furthermore, Joe s team had to experience too many challenges with difficulties to get success. They had to train in very poor conditions and their practicing was not stable. There have been times when they have lost the opportunity to become the Olympic team of America. By the time with his team, Joe had more experiences of life, thought of other people and perhaps this was the first time in his life there was teammate who loved and thought of him. They were from normal freshmen boys to the team won Gold Medal of Olympic; this winning affected Joe s life so much. The author said that: In those final few meters, Joe and the boys had finally forged the prize they had sought all season, the prize Joe had sought nearly all his life. Each had entirely given himself up to be a part of something larger and more powerful and more important than himself (Brown, 207). He showed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also it includes resizing of image data. 2.2 Image Segmentation: Image Segmentation is concerned about segmenting the image into various segments using various techniques. In early days a semi automatic approach was being used to detect the exact boundaries of the brain tumor. However the semiautomatic methods were not very successful as they had human induced errors and were time consuming. A better application of tumor detection was made by introducing fully automated tumor detection systems. Various methods have been proposed like Markov random fields method, Fuzzy c means (FCM) clustering, Otsu s thresholding, K Mean s, neural network. In this project, four different algorithms namely Otsu s method, Thresholding, K means method and Fuzzy c means and PSO have been used for designing the brain tumor extraction system. Various segmentation techniques which will be used in this project to segregate the different regions on the basis of interest are described as follows: a) K means: K means is a clustering technique which aims to partition a set of observations so as to minimize the within cluster sum of squares (WCSS). The evaluating function for an image a (m, n) is given as: c(i)=Arg min|mxy2 nxy2| Where i is the no. of clusters in which the image is to be partitioned. b) Otsu s Method: Otsu s Method divides the image into two classes of regions namely foreground and background. What are the different reactions of men and women to this kind of ads ? Introduction The exploitation of women in the media has been part of the advertising industry since its beginning, although the level to which women have been exploited has changed drastically. Advertising is a highly visible and seemingly controversial agent of socialization (Paff, Lakner, 1997). Indeed, it appears everywhere in our lives, on television, on the internet, on busses, in our mailbox, in magazines, and now in the toilets of our favourite restaurants or nightclubs. Advertising ideologically shapes our perceptions of beauty and strongly influences our ideas, attitudes and values within one s culture. Advertisers achieve this powerful and direct communication through signifying practices which gives meaning to words and images (Kang, 1997). For example, the exploitation of women is most apparent in TV beer commercials, where the promise of sex and fun is the norm (Hall, Crum, 1994). For example, the Swedish Bikini Team commercial for Old Milwaukee beer. In this commercial, large breasted blond women wearing bikinis were portrayed as fun companions brought in especially to party with very few men.. Through the exploitation of women in advertisements, this oppression leads to social problems, such the development of eating disorders by young women attempting to achieve the conditioned idea of the ideal image (Kang, 1997). A lack of identification which creates negative attitudes The notion that female products are sold from a male perspective is an important concept because it is a form of systematic male oppression, that most are aware of, yet still support and surrender to, or at the very most give minimal opposition. Visual images are especially important when influencing women s buying behavior as most readers of advertisement look at the illustration, read the headline, read the body copy, in that order (Kang, 1997). Understanding this complex relationship is clinically relevant because desynchronization of circadian rhythms and disruptions in sleep are associated with higher likelihood of disease. It has been demonstrated that there is a bidirectional flux of circadian information between the immune and neuroendocrine system (Mavroudis, Scheff, Calvano, Androulakis, 2012). The interactions between these two systems work in concert to optimize immune responses that are vital in down regulating diseases. The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers, doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole. To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint. Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected children, and vaccine coverage. Abstract: Global warming has been widely discussed all around the world as it is an issue that affects the living of all mankind in the world. It is argued that the anthropogenic changes posse more influence on the climate change to the Earth, compared to the naturally driven glacial and interglacial changes in temperature. This report is based on the Vostok Core by faculty at Columbia University as an example for us to investigate global climate change. Author of this report believes global warming is just part of the long term temperature fluctuation during the interglacial period as there is no convincing and valid evidence that shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CO2, dust and CH4 are the main source of greenhouses gases, which are produced mainly by human activities. If that is the case, the composition of CO2, dust and CH4 should be coherent to the change of temperature of the Earth. Yet, it is not shown from the data. Moreover, there are lots of different factors that keep affecting the temperature of the Earth. The energy of the sun, the albedo effect, Milakovitch Cycles, plate tectonics are the examples of the factors that affect the temperature. Conclusion To conclude, based the given data, it is difficult to prove that anthropogentic changes are stronger than the glacial and interglacial changes in temperature, as there are not enough valid evidence from the lab. Studying climate change is not a short term issue. However, due to the limited technology level and the knowledge of the Earth, we could not obtain concise data to investigate the climate change. The ice core could be one of the proxies that help us to understand the climatic condition in the past. Jamaica is known for its jerked chicken, clear waters, and more notably for Reggae, which makes Jamaican culture globally recognized. However, despite its mainstream entertainment value of today, reggae is not only music; however it is a way of life for some Jamaicans. It originated as a political form of protest against the colonial forces operative in the social context of Jamaican life. Musical ambassadors like the Abyssinians, Burning Spear, Sir Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, and Rita Marley, along with many others, can be credited with introducing reggae music to the world and giving it international recognition. The second was the protest against the Babylon system and oppression. To the Rastafari, the Babylon system is any and all oppressive and unequal practices in Jamaica. Babylon began to surface throughout reggae music. Reggae lyrics are suggestive of the reggae protest songs. Bob Marley is a great example of capturing his strong negative views of Babylon. Reggae protest songs proved to be a force with power, both socially and politically. Ironically the Jamaican government would use reggae as a vehicle to promote its views (King, xiv). Reggae never lost and will never lose its association with music and the Rastafari culture. It remains a revolutionary form of explanatory art. Music never remains stagnate, it will always evolve. Roots reggae; a sub genre of Reggae, was dominant in Jamaica in the cohort of 1975 1980. Roots reggae tackles the life of a ghetto sufferer and discusses truths and rights (Barrow and Dalton, 129). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry can be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors. 2.2.1. Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a comfortable working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational productivity. 2.2.4. Technological Factors The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment, which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow down the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling. Besides, better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in damaging equipment or mineral. 2.2.5. Ecological Factors The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment. 2.2.6. Legal Factors More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might change the macro environment.

John Howard Griffin was an author, more specifically was a journalist and a specialist on race issues. His desire was to know if Southern whites were racist against the Negro population of the Deep South, or if they really judged people based on the individual s personality as they said. Because of this he felt that they had encouraged him to cross the color line and write Black Like Me. He became another person so he could tell the story of being a black man in the 1950s south. After his experience Griffin became a leading advocate in the Civil Rights Movement. He did a lot to promote awareness of the racial situations. John Griffin, in the beginning of the story is a white man from a nice neighborhood with a wife and two kids. He is medium height but very large around the middle. However, Griffin wanted to experience firsthand the obstacles and hardships of being black in America so that he may understand what life is like for blacks. Griffin underwent a series of medical treatments to change his skin color temporarily to black. He went to his dermatologist for help. When the Maya began settling in the lowlands of what is now northern Guatemala around 1000 BCE, they cleared thick tropical forests in order to farm. They grew crops like beans, squash, avocados and corn. The forest provided food sources like deer, rabbits and monkeys, and building materials like wood, vines and mud for their houses. Through increased trade, small isolated Mayan villages grew into large cities. While the Apache used to live in wickiups, made of wooden frames covered by a buffalo hide tarp, nowadays they live in modern houses and apartment buildings. Traditionally, the Apache were hunters. The men hunted antelope, buffalo, and deer, while the women collected fruits and nuts from their surroundings. These days, however their main staple food consists of corn. The Europeans have different impact on the Maya and the Apache. The Europeans did not have such a big effect on the Mayan civilization as they did on the Apache. The Mayan civilization had already collapsed when Spanish conquerors arrived at the Americas in the 1500s. In the late 1800s, the Apache engaged in warfare against the United States government. Despite putting a strong resistance against the aggression to take over the Apache s land, the Apache had to surrender in the end and were subjected to confined life in reservations. When Lily and Rosaleen showed up on the Boatwright sisters doorstep, the sisters took the two women they had never met in and treated them like family. This strength occurred throughout the novel. When Lily s father ended up letting her stay with the Boatwright sisters it was partly because of the women in her lie. The women stood up to T. • 43. The Importance Of Culturalization In Africa In the year 1235 C.E a new empire arose in Africa just after the fall of the strong Ghana years before this empire, Mali was one of the strongest and wealthiest empires in Africa. Mali was one of the three strongest and wealthiest empires,it is located in west Africa and above the Niger river. Mali became a site of cultural exchange because when the people of the north seen their wealth they went to trade, exchange ideas and share religion. Mali became a cultural exchange because years before the empire of Mali arised the empire of ghana was already there it had already attracted people from the north to trade for gold. The first reason Mali became a site of cultural exchange is because they were the wealthiest empire in africa located west of africa and people up north started traveling down west africa to trade for gold and when people from foreign countries come to a new country they will share their culture along with trading their goods. According to The Ghana empire by U.C Davis Social Science in the year 2014 it states Mali was one of three medieval kingdoms that ruled over West Africa. • 44. A Worn Path Essay A Worn Path A Worn Path is, in my opinion, a very good story. It tells of an old black woman and the struggles she s had to deal with throughout her life. The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she apparently considers her biggest gift. The author never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, but we know she s made it before because the attendants knew who she was when she came in the building. It is a very long trip because the hunter even said that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is very determined and stubborn during her walk. The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much she loves him dead or alive. At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost, when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious. Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good example of this is when she takes the nickel from the ... For example the author uses logos in order to explain to us how we are able to get goods so fast from cheap labor. In the article it states The reason we have fast fashion is the cheap exploited labor around the world, said Cline. She estimates that less than 10% of what we re wearing... was made in factories where people were paid a living wage and working in safe and legal conditions. This explains that we rarely wear clothes that was produced from safe and good paying factories. As consumers we should turn the heat down and let it simmer for a minute. Is it really fair to workers who make most of our clothes? Scafidi also states Yet with the demand for fast fashion an all time high, more and more clothes are being made in the kinds of conditions that morally offend a lot of people in the Western world and without these kinds of well publicized tragedies, shoppers don t even think about it. Scafidi displays the use of pathos in order to help us feel and understand that we do not agree or support how people are enrolled into harsh labor , yet we continue and fail to realize what is going on until tragedies like the Bangladesh factory collapse occurs. • 50. Baptism And The Lord s Supper Essay According to David Scaer, Thomas Baima comprehensively understands the presence of Christ in the Lord s Supper within the trinitarian context that includes the three divine persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The trinitarian communion is first communicated with the thought that Jesus is equally divine and man and then in all the sacraments. Therefore, Lutherans can declare that god and humanity are united sacraments. According to Thomas Baima, whose proposition David Scaer explores, baptism is a sacrament that is irreplaceable as it remains with the believer for the rest of their life. It is therefore evident that the ritual of baptism is a base upon which other sacraments may be built. From the idea of baptism as a sacrament emerges the concept of sacrament being defined as a sacrifice. The initial label as sacrifice allows the definition of sacrament to also extend to anamnesis, which is the recalling or reminiscence of a historical event. Baima provides two examples to accentuate the definition: the baptism and the Lord s Supper. In the baptism, the people participate in the death and the resurrection of Christ. The death of Christ represents his sacrifice made for the purpose of washing away the sins of his followers. In return, the followers receive the sacrament of the sacrifice of Christ. In the same manner, the reception of Christ s blood and body during the communion signifies the sacrifice of the Christ which is then received as the sacrament to the ...
