The Project is located within the geographic area of the mining concession Toquepala mine (in the south of Peru), department of Tacna, comprising a tunnel in a straight line from the southwest of the pit to the existing mill site. The mine is located at an altitude of 3,300 meters. The project includes construction of a tunnel 2.19 km long, stretching from the projected location of the primary crushing building up the pile of intermediates, which will be connected to the transport of ore through a conveyor belt. In addition it is performed two tunnels, a short mine tunnel of 155 m long and a false tunnel crossing under current rail tracks. The lithotypes affected by the tunnels are andesites, rhyolites, intrusives rock and quaternary deposits. Finally it is made the final project of the tunnel ventilation to ensure the safety of the workers.

El proyecto se ubica dentro del área geográfica de la concesión minera Mina de Toquepala (Sur del Perú), Departamento de Tacna,
comprende el túnel en línea recta desde el suroeste de la corta a la pila de la planta existente. La mina está ubicada a 3,300 metros
de altitud.
El proyecto incluye la construcción de un túnel de 2,19 km de largo, que se extiende desde la ubicación proyectada del edificio
de trituración primaria hasta la pila de productos intermedios, que se conectará con el transporte del mineral a través de una cinta
transportadora.Además, se han diseñado otros dos túneles, un túnel minero mediante de 155 m de longitud y un falso túnel que cruza
las vías actuales del tren.
Los litotipos afectados por los túneles son andesitas, riolitas, rocas intrusivas y depósitos cuaternarios.
Finalmente se ha realizado el proyecto de ventilación del túnel para garantizar la seguridad de los trabajadores.
