What I Learned In My Writing Class
When I enrolled in this class, I was sure that it will influence the way I write and read. I have a
relatively large experience with academic writing and reading; still, I would have benefited even from
slight improvements in my approach, methods, and techniques I use for writing and reading
assignments. Because of this class my reading, writing, and thinking processes became more efficient.
I knew that my reading process was not efficient for the academic purposes. Before this class, my
critical reading was more akin to my pleasure reading. Thus, I spent incredible amounts of time on
reading assignments. I believe that the lesson about critical reading was very informative and helpful
since it provided particular methods and techniques which truly enhance the reading quality. Some of
the techniques like skimming the titles, finding the thesis and main ideas in the text were familiar to
me. However, the idea of annotation was new to me. I found the three word ... Show more content on

Though I have spent many years learning English, it is an ongoing process that requires a lot of hard
work. I was very glad to find out that the first four weeks of the course would be focused on
grammatical rules and sentence patterns. Because I never focused on the structure of my sentences, I
believe I wrote dull and flat texts. Moreover, my punctuation was terrible since I had no understanding
of English punctuation. But the lessons on the sentence structure turned my world upside down: It was
hard to believe that even simple sentences have such a great variety and can turn your paper into
something very interesting in the terms of structure. Practicing skill of building effective sentences in
the same essay was very helpful, for it allowed to focus purely on the sentence and structure patterns
rather than on the context. My writing improved since the beginning of the semester and I became a

Terrorist Attacks
Introduction Within the last year the United States has been exposed to many terrorist attacks and
threats that could or has harm the American people. The attacks range from mass shooting to suicide
bomber to truck raining over pedestrians. Not to mention, just recently on 11 December 17 there was
an attempted bomber in New York; its just to show that there is no end of stoping terrorism from
happening, however, the American people can find a way to prevent the next terrorist attacks or threats
from happening by increase security measure and predicting the when can the next attack through
statistics calculations.
Research Question In this research paper it will identified the average number of terrorist attacks per
month in the US. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the graph shows over the course of 30 months it displayed the skewness of the graph to the right,
which mean that more terrorist incident can be expected in the near future.
Figure 2
Results As a results, from the data analysts more terrorist attack are happening every year. The average
number of attack can be expected to happen is once per month, and especially during the holiday
season where the terrorist attack are more likely to increase. Furthermore, base from the graph it look
like the spring time frame is where there is a likely to none terrorist activity. Therefore, with all the
season combine together there is a positive trend of terrorist attack and that can affect the mean and
the standard deviation.
Conclusion In conclusion, the average number of terrorist incidents is about once per month in the
United States, and it s normally increase during the holiday and not so much in the spring time.
Nevertheless, with every problem that the United States face their must be a solution, therefore, an
increase of security measure is needed to protect the American people and to reduce the average
number of terrorist attack from about one per month to zero. As the new year is approaching there is
an uncertainty of when the next attack will happen, but how can the United State prepare to fend off
those attack to project its people? The answer still remains unknown and wait for the future to

Comparison Of Blockbuster And Independent Films
In this essay, I will elaborate on the coexistence of blockbuster and independent films in America with
emphasis on independent film making concentrating on the similarities and differences portrayed.
Co existence
The explosion of independent films in America started in the mid 80s due to the lack of creative niche
films after the reorganization of the Hollywood studio systems. During this era, the big Hollywood
studio system ran like a Ford Production plant systemized and standardized, pumping out action
themed big budget blockbuster films one after another targeted for Americas widest audience of young
kids and teenagers. By doing so, they left an untapped market or void that was eventually filled by the
independent filmmakers comprised of a group of upcoming women and African Americans who
produced movies on very low budgets that spoke about social issues and injustices for the common
people.

The films produced by the indie auteurs are classified as niche films. These types of films were
usually produced by filmmakers who did not fit the current Hollywood culture during the time as
women and people of color were minimally employed to say the least. Niche films are focused on
specific demographics and therefore are significantly less profitable due to the smaller yet loyal fan
base. Unlike the 70 s, when auteur pictures backed by studio money and muscle were top grossing
films, in the 80s and 90s the audience for even the most compelling independent auteur pictures was
significantly smaller. (Lewis) For instance, due to the lack of funding and smaller target audiences the
well known indie films of the eighties and early nineties made only 1/100th of the average blockbuster

Shawshank Redemption Themes
Frank Darabont directed The Shawshank Redemption and wrote the screenplay based on the novel
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by author Stephen King. The movie was made in 1994
and produced by Niki Marvin. The movie stars Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins as two convicts
serving time in a New England prison named Shawshank. Tim Robbins plays a man named Andy
Dufresne, a banker, who gets convicted of murdering his wife and her lover and is sent to prison in
Shawshank. Andy eventually becomes good friends with a fellow convict by the name of Ellis Boyd
Redding(Morgan Freeman) who is able to get anything for anyone within reason. The story follows
the prison life of Andy Dufresne and his eventual escape from Shawshank s walls. The elements ...

The climax within this movie is disguised until the last scenes, constantly building suspense for the
viewer and drawing the viewer in. Narrated by the prisoner, Red, played by Morgan Freeman, the film
expounded upon characters from a unique point of view. By having Red narrate, the audience quickly
identifies with the prisoners, there are certain common traits that the characters and audience share
that produce sympathy for the incarcerated criminals.
Overall, Darabont uses affective methods of filming, causing the audience to feel Andy Dufresne
desperation, sense of hopelessness, and finally his exaltation after escaping from prison. The
Shawshank Redemption is an excellent depiction of a prisoner s sense of despondency and extreme
determination to overcome any given situation. Each aspect of this film was essential for the outcome,
and the reason for its success. The outstanding directing style, admirable cinematography, and
gripping screenplay, were all principal factors in this films successfulness and

The Problems With Birds Migrating Birds
There are many issues with aircrafts interacting with wild birds. The birds can get sucked into the
plane engines and harm the plane causing it to lose power and crash. Solutions are very limited due to
birds migrating, you can put stuff in order to keep local birds away, but you can t with migrating birds.
There is research to be done to figure out the best solution to this problem. There is two ways of
looking at this when birds hit planes causing damage to the plane or even bringing the plane down.
Much like, the canadian goose that hit the plane and brought it down into the Hudson River. This is a
big wildlife conservation what we can do to stop this from happening. There has been multiple studies
done to see if lights will help the birds see the planes coming so they will move out off the way of the
oncoming planes. The other way of looking at it is the planes harming the way the birds are living. A
lot of airports are by where the birds will nest. Also, the noise of the plane interferes and hurts the
roosting and feeding of the birds. This is a big wildlife management if these birds are being bothered
and put out of the way of where the birds are supposed to live, then there are solutions for new airports
being built in different, bird free, areas. The top priority is to keep the wild birds safe and to keep them
in their way of life and not to alter the way the birds live.
A plane was downed over New York when a bird was sucked into the jet engine. Flight 1459 just

The Franciscan Order; a Victim of Its Own Success Essay
The Franciscan movement was a religious order that arose out of one man s ideologies and beliefs. St.
Francis of Assisi s ideals of absolute poverty, obedience, humility, and simplicity were uncomplicated
and basic, but during his life and even shortly after his death these ideologies were gradually shifting
and causing a great amount of debate. The immense size of the Franciscan Order combined with the
mass amount of popularity that the Order gained made changes in the ideology and objectives of
Francis messages and teaching almost an inevitable necessity. Some could argue that in many ways
the Franciscan Order s original ideologies were a victim of the movement s success. This is evident in
the main rules of the Order, what the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis did not want any kind of class distinction in his Order. However, as the priests became more in
number, so did their demands for books and altars. And lastly was the matter of study, Francis was
against any kind of studying, he felt that it interfered with the notion of absolute poverty and humility,
but none of the priest friars were open to the idea of being entirely cut off from any form of
intellectual pursuit. They argued that education was required in order to preach, convert and prevent
heresy. The sheer size of the Order, accompanied by the feelings of many of the new members with no
direct loyalty to Francis made it nearly impossible for his followers to maintain Francis ideals and
objectives while he was still alive. New members in distance provinces had no real or physical
connection with the saint except for the popular piety that his order had evoked. Many wanted rules
within the Order changed, and with the large number of reformers, it became more difficult for Francis
to maintain the direction of the Order he had founded. These were just the initial problems that the
Franciscan Order faced, after the death of Francis in 1226 many of the rules dealing with main
ideologies began to shift from austere to lax, and as a result there was a splitting and shifting in the
faction.
Another problem with the Order was the ideal to live a life like Christ, to be a lowly person and

Satan In John Steinbeck s The Book Of Job
God is sovereign and knows all, yet the man he created does not. He alone knows how strong each
individual s faith is and how far it can go before conforming. In The Book of Job, many people
believed God presented Job to Satan because he had something to prove. Satan s idea was simple if
God removed his hand from one of his most righteous followers that he would be cursed to his face.
God knew that Job was a prototype of an upright man and would prove Satan wrong. Without
hesitation God agreed and Satan commenced with the acquisition of Jobs life determined to hinder
Jobs faith. Satan has always had a hidden agenda sought to change the beliefs of man. Satan once said
he will redeem all mankind, that one shall not be lost, and surely I ... Show more content on

him how the innocent do not suffer but the wicked do. That Job must have sinned and this is why God
is doing this to him. I believe even though it was not stated in the story this is still the work of Satan.
Instead of physically attacking Job, and taking away possessions he is targeting him mentally. After
listening to his friends he challenges them to show him where he has sinned. Job complains about his
health and his life in a whole. While Job has not lost his faith he has lost any hope pertaining to his
life. He mocks his friends and reaches out to God to present his case. Job maintains his integrity

Deregulation of the Airline Industry
Deregulation of the Airline Industry
The airline industry has been subject of intense price competition since it was deregulated, and the
result has been a number of new carriers which specialize in regional service and no frills operations.
These carriers typically purchase older aircraft and often operate outside the industry wide
computerized reservations system. In exchange for these inconveniences, passengers receive low fares
relative to the industry as a whole. This research examines two low fare air carriers, ValuJet and
Southwest Airlines. By investigating these air carriers, we can better understand the economic impacts
of price versus service in the airline industry as a whole, as well as, the impacts on passenger ... Show

Because Southwest s flights are generally an hour or less in length, the airline saves money by not
having to serve meals. It has a liberal work rule arrangement with its unions, so productivity is high,
and overall costs are low.
For example, Southwest gets 672 hours per year on average from pilots versus 371 for American
Airlines pilots, and 60 percent more passenger miles per flight attendant (Levinson, 1993, p. 34).
These figures enable the company to realize profits during years in which the industry as a whole was

Nurse Residency
Even in management, critical thinking is essential to having an effective organization. Nurse managers
who are adept at using critical thinking and have the habits of mind of a critical thinker are in a good
position to assume a leadership role and create the changes that will achieve positive outcomes in
health care organizations (Zori, Morrison, 2009 p.79).
RECOMMENDATIONS
Hospitals and health care organizations need to provide their team members and management
educational opportunities to improve their critical thinking skills. Nurses with higher degrees should
be put in management positions. Nurse Residency and other things that help with nurse retention need

Nurses are the largest number of employees at healthcare organizations. Nurses are what make the
hospital able to achieve organizational effectiveness. Hospitals need to maintain and respect the value
of their nurses. Without the nurses hospitals would not exist in all the capabilities that they are
achieving today. Nurses are the heart and soul of the hospital. Healthcare institutions need to make
their place of work attractive to nurses. There will continue to be a shortage of nurses and the success
of the healthcare facility depend upon the ability to have the right amount of nurses working at the
facility. In order to make the business attractive the facility must offer benefits such as healthcare,
insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
They must make the nurses happy who work there by finding out what they want such as a certain
amount of pay, holidays off, and not working swing shifts. Very rarely does anyone in any profession
want to work a swing shift of days and nights. This is one way to retain the nurses the organization
have. Plus working different shifts is not good on the body of the individuals working the shift. If you

Medieval And Medieval Architecture
When regarding ancient and medieval architecture, the powerful influence of religion is very
imminent throughout the various time periods and different styles of architecture. History of
architecture is associated more with buildings driven by religion than with any other category, because
in most past civilizations, the consistent and distinguished appeal of religion made the church or
temple the most symbolic, the most stable, and the most powerful building in any city. Throughout
human history, religion has been the inspiration for magnificent works of philosophy, literature, art,
and architecture. Throughout history in ancient Europe, sacred traditions were symbolized, expressed
and preserved in places of worship and pilgrimage. Though there are many examples that support this
argument, the mortuary complex of King Zoser in ancient Egypt, the Parthenon of ancient Greece, the
Pantheon of Italy, the Hagia Sophia of the Byzantine Empire, and the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris
reign supreme in exemplifying the architectural practice driven by the influence of religion.
In Ancient Egypt, pyramids were monumental tombs built for the kings, but more importantly, the
great pyramids were also fundamental to the religious beliefs of Egyptian culture and society. In the
ancient Egyptian culture, death of the king was not a termination of life but rather, on the contrary, the
potential of beginning of a new form of existence. The kings held an exclusive position, described

The Impairment Of Social Interaction
Within the impairment of social interaction, there are many different characteristics that could be a
part of this. Such characteristics include: the desire of isolation, not understanding and knowing how
to work with others in an appropriate manner, being socially awkward, and having a limited
understanding of the two way nature of relationships (Worth, 2005).
The impairment of social language and communication shows in characteristics including: the lack of
language development and lack of understanding with non verbal communication. If the individual
shows characteristics including: preferring repetitive activity and play, being resistant to change, and
difficulty generalizing ideas or knowledge, then those are impairments with flexibility of thought and

This area would be the impairment of sensory processing and motor skills. Characteristics with this
impairment include: differences in the way that sensory information (including pain) is experienced
and a tendency to clumsiness and lack of coordination, particularly in the use of fine motor skils
(Worth, 2005). As stated above, this is not included in the original Triad of Impairments, but is
currently being researched. The triad of impairments helps with diagnosing individuals and also
determining how severe of a case the individual has.
There are many individuals involved in the process of assessing and individual as well as many
different assessments in a variety of settings. Some of the individuals that can be involved in the

Montgomery Bus Boycott Rosa Parks Arrest
Today, many people believed that the arrest of Rosa Parks in 1955 kicked off the Montgomery Bus
Boycott, and that her arrest is known to be the start of the Civil Rights Movement. To put it bluntly,
she did not start the Civil Rights Movement; the murder of Emmett Till is the catalyst that started the
Civil Rights Movement. As for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, that part is slightly true and slightly
false. Rosa Parks herself was not the first black woman who refused to give up her seat. That right
belongs to Claudette Colvin. Claudette Colvin, a 15 year old high school student was arrested for
refusing to give up her seat to a white couple. She was sent to court despite the city law required
passengers to move only if another seat was available, which in this case there were no more seats
available (McGuire 68). With this as major evidence, one would think that she got off without a guilty
sentence. That, in fact, did not happen. After she was found guilty of breaking the law, Jo Ann

Exercise Physiology Paper
Exercise Physiology
This study assessed heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter readings at rest and during exercise.
The heart rate (HR), blood pressure (BP), and oximetery measurements provide better insight into the
inner workings of the human body. In using the results of the assessment, one can determine the
affects that rest and exercise have on the cardiac system.
Heart rate is described as the rate of the cardiac cycle. Heart rate is measured in beats per minute
(bpm). A well conditioned heart is able to pump large amounts of blood with each beat. This is called
bradycardia (* 60 bpm). In contrast, a poorly conditioned heart is called tachycardia (* 100). Males
have an average resting heart rate between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average resting blood pressure is around 120/80 mmHg.
The pulse oximeter is a photoelectric device for determining the oxygen saturation of the blood using
the left index finger. In other words, the machine senses the levels of saturated hemoglobin and will
convert that amount to a percent of saturation (Bilsky 2000). At rest, the normal oximetry reading is
97%. However, because Greeley is above sea level (around 5,000 ft.), the assessment will base the
normal measurement at 95%.
Exercise heart rate is used to help an individual utilize a specific energy system and/or condition
specific systems of the body. One can utilize exercise to stimulate the heart rate. This is done by
walking up and down stairs at different intensities.
The rate of the cardiac cycle is a valid indicator of demands that are required on one s body. During
exercise, BP is indirectly indicated by intensity or exertion levels. The systolic BP is expected to rise
because of the increase in cardiac output. Diastolic BP is expected to remain equivalent to resting
levels or decrease during exercise indicating an increase of vasodilation and an opening of the
capillary beds. Furthermore, the pulse oximeter reading should stay relatively the same from rest to
exercise, at approximately 97% (Fox 1999).
It is essential to have a basic understanding of heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry readings
in order to assess a person s

What Were The Underlying Causes Of World War 1 Essay
The Underlying Causes of World War I
World War was one of history s greatest tragedies. The war was fought in Europe and lasted as long as
four year s, 1914 1918. The war costed an estimate of ten million lives and also twenty million
wounded. Also, the war was triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. It is very to
understand the causes of this tragedy. The war had three significant causes. They were Alliances,
Militarism, and Imperialism. The first cause of World War I was Imperialism. By the late 19th century,
Europe has took up so much of Earth, especially in Africa and southern Asia. The war in 1913, Britain
controlled more than twelve million square miles of overseas possessions. France had over four
million (Doc.F). This didn t look good for Germany and Austria Hungary who lost one million square
miles of possessions between them. They trailed England and France sixteen to one. Germans saw
England as a giant octopus with it s tentacles around the world sucking out the Earth s resources
(Doc.E). Arms and a alliance were necessary to fight this colonial monster. But the arms and alliances
were the means for dealing with the real problem. The underlying problem was the unequal

Using Data From The British Election Study
This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses
from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions
regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for
voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right,
taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so
forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a
scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked,
this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas,

Jack Kevorkian and Euthanasia
Euthanasia The thin line between life and death has become an ethical issue many health care
providers and the government have long tried to ignore. The understanding that life begins at birth,
and ends when the heartbeat and breathing have ceased has long been deemed factual. Medical
technologies have changed this with respirators, artificial defibrillators, and transplants (Macionis,
2009). Thus medical and legal experts in the United States define death as an irreversible state
involving no response to stimulation, no movement or breathing, no reflexes, and no indication of
brain activity (Macionis, 2009, p. 436). The process of deciding when a terminally ill patient should
die lies within the patient, family members, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

By contrast, Oregon being the only law allowing terminally ill adults to request a lethal dose of drugs
from a physician requires two physicians to agree the patient is of sound mind and has less than six
months to live. California is in the works of voting on a similarly careful measure. One of its sponsors
cites Dr. Kevorkian as the perfect reason we need this law in California. We don t want there to be

Sara Deturk Summary
After reading the article by Sara DeTurk I feel as though This journal investigates the lived encounters
of individuals who go about as partners in light of a legitimate concern for social equity. In this article
it talked about how Meetings were controlled to research the significance of the partner character and
the strategies partners use to intrude on simplifications, bias, and cruelty others. While reading the

The Benefits Of Sign Language
Sounds are vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach

Blood Spatter Analysis
Analyzing blood spatter at crime scene is a science that has developed significantly over the last 20
years. David Camm was arrested for the murder of his wife and two children in 2000. Several blood
spatter specialist would be called to the stand to testify on the blood spatter evidence that was found in
the crime scene with varying results. Most notably, Robert Stites, a blood spatter analyst from
Portland Oregon credentials and capability would be called into question many times. Experience,
knowledge and credibility of the blood spatter analyst as well as the blood evidence found at the scene
led to overturning the conviction of David Camm. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who
arrived home in September 2000 to find his wife and two children shot dead in their car. David Camm
had been playing basketball with family and friends in a church gym, as he did every week. He left the
church around 9:17pm, drove home, discovered the bodies and called the police in a span of 12
minutes. David s wife, Kimberly, and their children, 5 year old daughter Jill, and 7 year old son Brad
were at swim class until 7 p.m before they arrived home (Fisher, 2013). David Camm became the
police s prime suspect almost immediately. The police theorized that Camm had arrived home at 9:22,
killed his family, disposed of the gun (it has not been recovered), cleaned up the crime scene, then
called 911 (Fisher, 2013). However, upon closer examination of the crime scene, specifically the blood

The Wife Of Bath s Tale Courtly Love
The Canterbury Tales was written by Geoffrey Chaucer. He was known as the Father of English
literature and one of the greatest English poets. Geoffrey Chaucer was born in London between 1340
1440 to John Chaucer and Agnes Copton (Academy of American Poets 1). The Canterbury Tales plays
a huge role in courtly love and sexual desire. Courtly love is a highly conventionalized medieval
tradition of love between a knight and a married noblewoman. Courtly love is satirized in many of the
tales that does not take place among the nobility. Sexual Desire is a motivational state or interest in
sexual objects or activities, or as a wish, need, or drive to seek out sexual objects or to engage in

It is mainly about a carpenter who loves his beautiful wife Alisoun very much and a lot of people

married so stop trying and they keep trying to show Allison sexual contact but she doesn t want to get
caught with them because of her overprotective husband. The quote that showed that was she should
be his, for this was his desire and hers also. (Chaucer 3418) the quote portrayed that they shared a

quote explains how she was telling Nicholas in a courteous way to take his hands off of her because
her husband was around and she didn t want to get caught with him. And it showed sexual rivalry
because he was trying to kiss her in a sexual way. Sexual rivalry played a huge role in the Millers Tale.
Courtly love played a big role in The Millers Tale. The quote that portrayed courtly love is This

(Chaucer 3226) The quote shows how the carpenter said he loved his newly wedded wife more than

quote that displayed courtly love is And he held her hard by the thighs and said, Sweetheart, love me

Balcony Scnece in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
The balcony scene in and Romeo and Juliet is the most iconic and recognised scene, because it
represents young love, and symbolises the power of youth, as Romeo and Juliet try to put right the
mistakes of their elders. The scene shows how their love over comes their difficulties. Romeo wooing
Juliet at the balcony is a ideal romantic situation, as it is still relevant today. There is also a little
sexual tension between them.
The balcony scene is very simple but effective. There are only two characters, and the nurse s voice,

Even though both their families are at war, it does not mean that, that should get in the way of their

The 16th century scene is still relevant today as it was then. The Romeo and Juliet situation n could be
created by divided society e.g. people from opposite sides of a war, falling in love, for example
Northern Ireland or Israel.
There is a sense of physical longing between the characters in the scene. Romeo and Juliet long for
each other, there is a sexual tension running through the scene. This shown in their vows to each other:
such as when Romeo asks he: What shall I swear by? And she replies: Do not swear at all; or, if
though wilt, swear by thy gracious self. Swearing by yourself was meant Juliet trusted Romeo very
much. The vow guaranteed that they would both see each other again. Romeo s observation: O that I
were a glove upon that Hand, That I might touch that cheek, shows Romeo s physical longing for
Juliet. And his demand at the end of the scene: O, wilt though leave me so unsatisfied? followed by
her reply: What satisfaction canst though have to night? This is another example of the couple s sexual
tension.
There are many great contrasts in the scenes, the Balcony scene is very intense and

Such profits are necessary to provide additional compensation to shareholders/owners while
constituting capital for future growth, repayment of debt, etc. By the way, it s a good idea to create a
personal budget, so the management team will know how much they need each month from the
business in terms of salary and draws, distributions or dividends. Budgeting systems turn managers
perspectives forward and by looking to the future and planning, managers are able to anticipate and
correct potential problems before they arise (Horngren, Foster Datar, 2000). Through budgeting,
management can plan ahead and maintain enough cash to pay creditors, to have adequate raw
materials to meet production requirements, and to have sufficient finished goods to meet expected
sales (Kieso, 2002).
Careful planning is required to guide all parts of the organization towards its strategic long term and
short term objectives. Anthony Govindarajan (2000) saw strategic planning as being focused on
several years, contrasted to budgeting that focuses on a single year and so a budget is a one year slice
of the organization s strategic plan. The budget prepared for planning purposes, as part of the strategic
planning process, is the quantitative plan of management s belief of what the business s costs and
revenues will be over a specific future period (Davies Boczko, 2005). According to Atrill McLaney

Cause And Effect Essay On Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor The events of the attack on Pearl Harbor happened on December 7th 1941 at 7:48 AM
Hawaiian time Sunday morning. A day that will always be known in infamy, Japan launched a surprise
attack against the Pearl Harbor naval base located near Honolulu, Hawaii. Japan s offensive was
planned by Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku, commander in chief of Japan s Combined Fleet, while the
attack itself was led by Vice Admiral Nagumo Chuichi. The attacking fleet consisted of the following:
6 Aircraft Carriers 2 Battleships 2 Heavy Cruisers 1 Light Cruiser 11 Destroyers Multiple submarines

Due to the timing and the nature of the surprise attack most of the damage dealt to the U.S. forces
happened in the early stages of the attack. U.S. aircraft losses were high due to the fact that most of
the planes were parked in the open and positioned wing tip to wing tip to prevent sabotage, while this
was effective against the perceived threat it left the planes wide open to strafing runs by the attacking
Japanese planes. Aircraft losses incurred by the attacks amounted to 188 destroyed and 159 damaged
in total. The bulk of these were taken out before even being able to get in the air. The target of Japans
attacking forces was the Pacific Naval Fleet, fortunately at the time of the attack the primary targets,
being the three U.S. aircraft carriers commanded by the Pacific fleet, were not in the harbor at the time
of the attack. The other main targets consisted of the eight battleships located within the harbor. The

Aging Is A Biological And Social Process
The process of aging is a biological process. However, someone being considered young , middle aged
or old (the three main age spans) is perceived differently by divergent cultures, therefore it is
considered a social construct. This essay will not only examine the three characteristics of age,
particularly young and old , but also it will come to a conclusion in relation to the essay question
outlined above.
The process of aging is a biological/social process. In contrary, varying cultures and people interpret
ages ( young , middle aged and old ) very differently due to the world s diverse age markers. For
example, in Japan, the average life expectancy of a man is 80 years old and a woman is 87 years old,
as stated by the World Health Organization (Anon., 2014), which means that men and women are not
considered old until they are in their seventies or eighties. However, in Sierra Leone, the average life
expectancy of a man is 47.5 years old and a woman is 48 years old, which means that people in the
age range of thirty to forty would be considered old or middle aged . The difference in people s
perceptions on who would be considered old and who wouldn t shows that conceptions on
adolescence and age in general are examples of a cultural construction; there is no set age across the
world for what is old and what is young.
The treatment of the elderly also differs dramatically across cultures. It is well documented that a great
majority of Eastern societies

Descriptive Essay About A Tree
There s a flower garden in one corner, a garden with tomatoes and cucumbers in the other, and a tall
hedge that grows along the outer edge, where the edge of the yard buts up against the neighbor s.
There are two apple trees on either side that drop hundreds of red delicious every other year or so;
they make delicious apple sauce. One, large oak tree is the alpha of the yard; it lumbers over the house
and shades the entire lawn. This small, suburban yard not only housed my mother s imagination, but
mine and all my cousins as well. My grandparent s backyard might seem ordinary, but it is actually
quite special. The giant oak tree, the shed, the swing set, and my grandmother s garden are all special
locations in the yard that continue to be sacred places for me.
The outdoors has been one of my favorite places to be for as long as I can remember. As a child, I
spent most afternoons galloping across the yard and through the trees pretending I was various
animals or just being with the trees. I ve always felt extremely connected to all living things, so it s no
surprise that the massive oak tree in my grandparents backyard holds a special place in my heart. The
oak resides in the direct center of the yard and must be at least three feet in diameter. This tree holds
so much life, squirrels, birds and chipmunks constantly jump from branch to branch and beautiful
green leaves sprout across every square inch. I wanted to exist closer to this energy, I wanted to

At this time Iraq had to find money or it would not survive. The only source of money would be to sell
Iraq s oil at high prices or to get Kuwait s oil.
Kuwait was a major oil target for Iraq because it would give them major control over the world s oil
reserves and a large role in OPEC and its policies. Despite Kuwait s oil wealth it was already a
wealthy country. If it came down to it Kuwait could survive without its oil revenue because of all its
investments. In 1990 when the price of oil started dropping Iraq was in real trouble. At an OPEC
meeting in May 1990, Iraq stressed their anger about Kuwait s over production of oil. On Baghdad
Radio it was reported that Saddam Hussein stated that the continuing of over production of oil and its
effect on oil prices was a so called war on Iraq. Iran supported Iraq when they requested that the
minimum price of oil was set to $25 per barrel, which was $14 at the time. OPEC eventually agreed to
$21 per barrel of oil. After the agreement it was assumed that the Iraqi Kuwaiti dispute was over. But
that assumption was wrong.
There were disputes over the land boundaries and Kuwait s right to stay an independent state. The UK
granted Kuwait independence in 1961. The Iraqis felt that in 1871 when Kuwait became part of the
Ottoman providence it belonged to them when Iraq was created by joining the Ottoman providences of
Mosul, Baghdad and Basra. However, there were some

Corrections in teh Criminal Justice System
When most people hear the term, corrections they probably think of prisons, striped uniforms,
cellblocks, armed guards, and surly prisoners. Part of American corrections is prisons, but corrections
is much more than that. Corrections includes prisons, jails, halfway houses, group homes, probation,
parole, intensive supervision, electric monitoring, restitution programs, victim offender mediation, and
even the death penalty. Corrections can be defined as all that society does to and with offenders after
they have been found guilty of a crime. Corrections even includes some things done to offenders prior
to conviction, such as detention in jails pending adjudication of guilt and programs for offenders who
are diverted out of the criminal system. I will start this paper by exploring early corrections in the
United States. The village style, communal life of colonial America did not lend itself to extensive use
of institutional incarceration. Resources and expertise for erecting jails or prison facilities were non
existent. A few jails were used as short term housing facilities for those awaiting trial or imposition of
a sentence. Some offenders served short jail terms, but one reason jails were not used as frequently as
in later times was due to economics. Even today, jails and prisons are a financial drain on society. It is
expensive to feed and house prisoners. Another economic motive has been connected to the scarce use
of prisons and jails. Incarcerated prisoners

Helmet Comparison Essay
Imagine this, going into a burning building that could collapse, explode, or kill and you are the one
that is going to save someone s life inside and put your life on the line. This is what firefighters have
to think about everyday whether they are from the United States, Europe, or any other country.
Despite this similarity and multiple more, the United States and the Europeans fire services differences
are clear.
Approximately 1,134,400 people in the United States are firefighters. About 346,000 are career and
paid firefighters. 788,000 are volunteer and don t get paid for their time.Only seven percent of all
these firefighters are women which leaves ninety three percent being male. The classes of fire are

The European helmet is reportedly more comfortable and practical than the helmets used in the United
States. These helmets look like a motorcycle with a different shield. These guys were ... universally
afraid of being mocked for wearing something new, different or unfashionable. Seliger on European
style helmets. Surprisingly, the United States and Europe use trucks with the same way, however, they
are much different. About seventy five percent of the United States truck are custom cabs. This means
that they are not regular car brands. Some brands of American trucks are Rosenbauer, E ONE, and
Pierce. A reason for using custom cabs is because they can make trucks bigger in America because of
the larger roads. The United States ladder trucks have a lot of uses. They have equipment for rescuing
people, ventilation, and fire suppression which is actually putting out the fire. European trucks are
very different from American trucks. Their trucks are ninety five percent commercial cabs so, their
trucks are brands like Mercedes or Volvo. They use these brands because they make smaller and more
compact trucks for their smaller roads. Unlike the American ladder truck, the Europeans don t have
many with pumps or tanks. They are strictly use for rescuing and not putting out fire. They also don t
have room to have large ladder trucks with lots of equipment on

Chiquita Bananas
Final Case Brief
Problem/Challenge Statement
Chiquita is blamed for the actions of two terrorist organizations that extorted money from the
company. Victims and their families of the attacks performed by these two terrorist organizations are
looking for compensation from Chiquita, claiming that the company is responsible for making those
attacks happen. Chiquita has to make a decision whether or not to take the responsibility for the
actions performed by the two organizations.
Key Facts/Background
FARC and AUC (two Colombian organizations currently designated by the U.S. as terrorist
organizations) purportedly threatened Chiquita s executives to hurt employees in the Colombian plant
if the company failed to provide the payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reasoning behind this is the belief that the money Chiquita paid was indeed used in hurting those
people. The victims and their families have right to demand justice. The question remains, of who
actually should be brought to justice.
Options Analysis
Based on the current situation (company already admitted to paying the money, internal documents
that the money did provide benefits exceeding the protecting of the employees were unveiled, threat of
lawsuits), Chiquita has couple limited options, which are based on justice and duty.
First option is to come out now and take the responsibility for the actions of FARC and AUC. The law
may not be in place yet, but this decision may show that Chiquita is standing by its promise to protect
people affected by its actions. This option definitely addresses the claims of victims and their families
they will get the compensation they are seeking. Chiquita will face multiple lawsuits and will be
harmed financially, which affects shareholders of the company. In this case the reasoning behind the
payments is brought in place whether it was for corporate gain or protection of employees.
Another option would be to refuse paying compensation to victims of FARC and AUC based on the
fact that Chiquita did nothing directly to harm them. Moreover, they were protecting people by paying
the terrorist. If the law holding the company

Reflection Paper On Flying High Performance Jets
Beyond the elementary definition of motivation, there is little agreement on the precise meaning of a
concept that is absolutely central to sport psychology (Cashmore, p. 175). I ll be honest. I m fascinated
by the study of motivation and I often reflect wondering why I do the things I do today and what
drove me in the past to do what I did. I figured that if I could discover what drove me then, perhaps I
could establish a more efficient and productive path to my future and also help others do the same.
I lost a lot of friends in the business of flying high performance jets. I m often motivated by the choir
of my dead friends to seek answers to the mystery of the human brain and why we make errors. Errors

We did it because we loved flying jets, period dot. Waving the flag is like tossing pompoms in the air
at a football game. They look good and get everyone s arousal moving upwards, but that was not what
was driving the core of the players. Elite athletes love their sport. They have a passionate drive to
succeed with competence, autonomy, and relatedness. We were all like a hungry rabbits chasing a
carrot and willing to die for it. Once someone discovers their purpose and then running toward it with
all their might, effort, and a solid action plan, absolutely nothing can stop someone like that who
would die in pursuit of that passion.
The purpose of my discussion is to explore, through reflection, the motivation that drove my past in
order to see if I can shed some light on the topic to enhance and supplement my motivational
interviewing (MI) techniques that I have learned this week. I want to take this same spirit of
motivation that is autonomous, internal, inspiring, and lasting to my family, friends, and future clients
who are seeking to perform in sports or other performance related endeavors with competence,
relatedness, and autonomy.
I believe the authors of Chapter 3 and 4 plus Dr. Woolsey s Positive Coaching workshop paper and his
Self determination Theory slide show were excellent sources to help guide me and get the juices
flowing in this process of taking my passion to transform someone into having the same type of
motivation to chase their

into psychology has waxed and waned in the 150 years since predicted that the field would be based

It is the idea on how we intake information that is given to us and how we use it, to find a result. The
interesting part is the way we approach the problem. Before addressing a problem, we should look at
what is causing the problem. From there start thinking of an effective action that can help solve the
problem and have a successful result. Think twice before you act.
Understanding Evolutionary Psychology
Evolutionary psychology is simply psychology that is informed by the additional knowledge that
evolutionary biology has offer, in the expectation the understanding the process that designed the
human mind will advance the discovery of its architecture (Tooby 1992). A new generation takes over
the last because it has inherited certain traits by past ancestors and has developed new ways to survive
in the condition the environment is in. We implement and acknowledge the information that we learn
each day. The fact that we evolve from our past accentors is very astonishing because since then we ve
come a long way. Genes have been passed on to the next generation and history grows from that. It is
impressive how the human brain works and how we perceive the information we are

Baby Step 1: Put $1000 in a Beginner Fund
This may not seem like a major move in becoming debt free, but it gives us well needed practice in
changing our behaviors to start becoming money minded. For me this was a step that was already
complete, however, for some this may be the hardest step to take because it requires them to change
and become committed to a new process (Ramsey, 2012).
Baby Step 2: Pay Off All Debt Using the Debt Snowball
The debt snowball is a simple concept by which the user makes a list of all of their outstanding debts
from lowest to highest and starts paying them off. This step takes some coordination through
budgeting and lifestyle reduction. In the Chapter titled Dumping Debt , Dave states that the first thing
we should do to eliminate debt, is to quit borrowing money, which includes using credit cards
(Ramsey, 2012). This is such a profound revelation, taking that credit card debt is up to 887 billion
dollars as of January 2015 (Nasdaq, 2014).
Baby Step 3: Put Three To Six Months of Expenses into a Savings Account for a Full Emergency
This Baby Step is very important because no income is a sure thing. If our income flow suddenly
stopped, how would we make ends meet? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average
American household drummed up $51,100 in annual expenses (US Department of Labor, 2014). This
means that the average American would need $12,000 25,000 in saving

Health Service Is Not Free At The Point Of Service
I have been recently discharged from a hospital in London after an open heart surgery. My son, a
medical doctor, who has come here for my procedure tells me that it would have cost us between 15
50 lakh rupees in Nepal. We did not have to pay anything for the operation, as health service is free in
the United Kingdom at the point of service. The National Health System in the UK is funded with
taxes and charities.
In all developed countries, health facility is free at the point of service. In western Europe, Japan,
Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, the government pays for health service. The United States,
where health insurance covers the cost of treatment, has taken a decisive step towards the single payer
system elsewhere with the Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare. Such free treatment at the point of
service saves people from financial annihilation and emotional distress.
In countries where medical treatment is not free at the point of service a medical complication
destroys individuals and devastates families. Recently, a relative of mine lost all his savings and his
home treating his wife who died anyway. Some years ago, a family had to sell their last piece of land
in the treatment of one of its members that brought them to the street. Such stories are too numerous to
cite.
Those who can afford do so. Those who cannot, try to survive a health disaster in the family through
cunning. While I was growing up, I had heard that two senior Nepali officials having

  • 2. What I Learned In My Writing Class When I enrolled in this class, I was sure that it will influence the way I write and read. I have a relatively large experience with academic writing and reading; still, I would have benefited even from slight improvements in my approach, methods, and techniques I use for writing and reading assignments. Because of this class my reading, writing, and thinking processes became more efficient. I knew that my reading process was not efficient for the academic purposes. Before this class, my critical reading was more akin to my pleasure reading. Thus, I spent incredible amounts of time on reading assignments. I believe that the lesson about critical reading was very informative and helpful since it provided particular methods and techniques which truly enhance the reading quality. Some of the techniques like skimming the titles, finding the thesis and main ideas in the text were familiar to me. However, the idea of annotation was new to me. I found the three word ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though I have spent many years learning English, it is an ongoing process that requires a lot of hard work. I was very glad to find out that the first four weeks of the course would be focused on grammatical rules and sentence patterns. Because I never focused on the structure of my sentences, I believe I wrote dull and flat texts. Moreover, my punctuation was terrible since I had no understanding of English punctuation. But the lessons on the sentence structure turned my world upside down: It was hard to believe that even simple sentences have such a great variety and can turn your paper into something very interesting in the terms of structure. Practicing skill of building effective sentences in the same essay was very helpful, for it allowed to focus purely on the sentence and structure patterns rather than on the context. My writing improved since the beginning of the semester and I became a more confident ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Terrorist Attacks Introduction Within the last year the United States has been exposed to many terrorist attacks and threats that could or has harm the American people. The attacks range from mass shooting to suicide bomber to truck raining over pedestrians. Not to mention, just recently on 11 December 17 there was an attempted bomber in New York; its just to show that there is no end of stoping terrorism from happening, however, the American people can find a way to prevent the next terrorist attacks or threats from happening by increase security measure and predicting the when can the next attack through statistics calculations. Research Question In this research paper it will identified the average number of terrorist attacks per month in the US. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the graph shows over the course of 30 months it displayed the skewness of the graph to the right, which mean that more terrorist incident can be expected in the near future. Figure 2 Results As a results, from the data analysts more terrorist attack are happening every year. The average number of attack can be expected to happen is once per month, and especially during the holiday season where the terrorist attack are more likely to increase. Furthermore, base from the graph it look like the spring time frame is where there is a likely to none terrorist activity. Therefore, with all the season combine together there is a positive trend of terrorist attack and that can affect the mean and the standard deviation. Conclusion In conclusion, the average number of terrorist incidents is about once per month in the United States, and it s normally increase during the holiday and not so much in the spring time. Nevertheless, with every problem that the United States face their must be a solution, therefore, an increase of security measure is needed to protect the American people and to reduce the average number of terrorist attack from about one per month to zero. As the new year is approaching there is an uncertainty of when the next attack will happen, but how can the United State prepare to fend off those attack to project its people? • 6. Comparison Of Blockbuster And Independent Films In this essay, I will elaborate on the coexistence of blockbuster and independent films in America with emphasis on independent film making concentrating on the similarities and differences portrayed. Co existence The explosion of independent films in America started in the mid 80s due to the lack of creative niche films after the reorganization of the Hollywood studio systems. During this era, the big Hollywood studio system ran like a Ford Production plant systemized and standardized, pumping out action themed big budget blockbuster films one after another targeted for Americas widest audience of young kids and teenagers. By doing so, they left an untapped market or void that was eventually filled by the independent filmmakers comprised of a group of upcoming women and African Americans who produced movies on very low budgets that spoke about social issues and injustices for the common people. Independent Film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The films produced by the indie auteurs are classified as niche films. These types of films were usually produced by filmmakers who did not fit the current Hollywood culture during the time as women and people of color were minimally employed to say the least. Niche films are focused on specific demographics and therefore are significantly less profitable due to the smaller yet loyal fan base. Unlike the 70 s, when auteur pictures backed by studio money and muscle were top grossing films, in the 80s and 90s the audience for even the most compelling independent auteur pictures was significantly smaller. (Lewis) For instance, due to the lack of funding and smaller target audiences the well known indie films of the eighties and early nineties made only 1/100th of the average blockbuster at the ... The movie was made in 1994 and produced by Niki Marvin. The movie stars Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins as two convicts serving time in a New England prison named Shawshank. Tim Robbins plays a man named Andy Dufresne, a banker, who gets convicted of murdering his wife and her lover and is sent to prison in Shawshank. The climax within this movie is disguised until the last scenes, constantly building suspense for the viewer and drawing the viewer in. Narrated by the prisoner, Red, played by Morgan Freeman, the film expounded upon characters from a unique point of view. Overall, Darabont uses affective methods of filming, causing the audience to feel Andy Dufresne desperation, sense of hopelessness, and finally his exaltation after escaping from prison. The Shawshank Redemption is an excellent depiction of a prisoner s sense of despondency and extreme determination to overcome any given situation. Each aspect of this film was essential for the outcome, and the reason for its success. • 8. The Problems With Birds Migrating Birds There are many issues with aircrafts interacting with wild birds. The birds can get sucked into the plane engines and harm the plane causing it to lose power and crash. Solutions are very limited due to birds migrating, you can put stuff in order to keep local birds away, but you can t with migrating birds. There is research to be done to figure out the best solution to this problem. There is two ways of looking at this when birds hit planes causing damage to the plane or even bringing the plane down. Much like, the canadian goose that hit the plane and brought it down into the Hudson River. This is a big wildlife conservation what we can do to stop this from happening. There has been multiple studies done to see if lights will help the birds see the planes coming so they will move out off the way of the oncoming planes. The other way of looking at it is the planes harming the way the birds are living. A lot of airports are by where the birds will nest. Also, the noise of the plane interferes and hurts the roosting and feeding of the birds. This is a big wildlife management if these birds are being bothered and put out of the way of where the birds are supposed to live, then there are solutions for new airports being built in different, bird free, areas. The top priority is to keep the wild birds safe and to keep them in their way of life and not to alter the way the birds live. A plane was downed over New York when a bird was sucked into the jet engine. Flight 1459 just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Franciscan Order; a Victim of Its Own Success Essay The Franciscan movement was a religious order that arose out of one man s ideologies and beliefs. St. Francis of Assisi s ideals of absolute poverty, obedience, humility, and simplicity were uncomplicated and basic, but during his life and even shortly after his death these ideologies were gradually shifting and causing a great amount of debate. The immense size of the Franciscan Order combined with the mass amount of popularity that the Order gained made changes in the ideology and objectives of Francis messages and teaching almost an inevitable necessity. Some could argue that in many ways the Franciscan Order s original ideologies were a victim of the movement s success. This is evident in the main rules of the Order, what the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francis did not want any kind of class distinction in his Order. However, as the priests became more in number, so did their demands for books and altars. And lastly was the matter of study, Francis was against any kind of studying, he felt that it interfered with the notion of absolute poverty and humility, but none of the priest friars were open to the idea of being entirely cut off from any form of intellectual pursuit. They argued that education was required in order to preach, convert and prevent heresy. The sheer size of the Order, accompanied by the feelings of many of the new members with no direct loyalty to Francis made it nearly impossible for his followers to maintain Francis ideals and objectives while he was still alive. New members in distance provinces had no real or physical connection with the saint except for the popular piety that his order had evoked. Many wanted rules within the Order changed, and with the large number of reformers, it became more difficult for Francis to maintain the direction of the Order he had founded. These were just the initial problems that the Franciscan Order faced, after the death of Francis in 1226 many of the rules dealing with main ideologies began to shift from austere to lax, and as a result there was a splitting and shifting in the faction. He alone knows how strong each individual s faith is and how far it can go before conforming. In The Book of Job, many people believed God presented Job to Satan because he had something to prove. Satan s idea was simple if God removed his hand from one of his most righteous followers that he would be cursed to his face. God knew that Job was a prototype of an upright man and would prove Satan wrong. Without hesitation God agreed and Satan commenced with the acquisition of Jobs life determined to hinder Jobs faith. Deregulation of the Airline Industry Deregulation of the Airline Industry The airline industry has been subject of intense price competition since it was deregulated, and the result has been a number of new carriers which specialize in regional service and no frills operations. These carriers typically purchase older aircraft and often operate outside the industry wide computerized reservations system. In exchange for these inconveniences, passengers receive low fares relative to the industry as a whole. This research examines two low fare air carriers, ValuJet and Southwest Airlines. • 13. Medieval And Medieval Architecture When regarding ancient and medieval architecture, the powerful influence of religion is very imminent throughout the various time periods and different styles of architecture. History of architecture is associated more with buildings driven by religion than with any other category, because in most past civilizations, the consistent and distinguished appeal of religion made the church or temple the most symbolic, the most stable, and the most powerful building in any city. Throughout human history, religion has been the inspiration for magnificent works of philosophy, literature, art, and architecture. Throughout history in ancient Europe, sacred traditions were symbolized, expressed and preserved in places of worship and pilgrimage. Though there are many examples that support this argument, the mortuary complex of King Zoser in ancient Egypt, the Parthenon of ancient Greece, the Pantheon of Italy, the Hagia Sophia of the Byzantine Empire, and the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris reign supreme in exemplifying the architectural practice driven by the influence of religion. In Ancient Egypt, pyramids were monumental tombs built for the kings, but more importantly, the great pyramids were also fundamental to the religious beliefs of Egyptian culture and society. In the ancient Egyptian culture, death of the king was not a termination of life but rather, on the contrary, the potential of beginning of a new form of existence. • 15. Montgomery Bus Boycott Rosa Parks Arrest Today, many people believed that the arrest of Rosa Parks in 1955 kicked off the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and that her arrest is known to be the start of the Civil Rights Movement. To put it bluntly, she did not start the Civil Rights Movement; the murder of Emmett Till is the catalyst that started the Civil Rights Movement. As for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, that part is slightly true and slightly false. Rosa Parks herself was not the first black woman who refused to give up her seat. That right belongs to Claudette Colvin. Claudette Colvin, a 15 year old high school student was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white couple. She was sent to court despite the city law required passengers to move only if another seat was available, which in this case there were no more seats available (McGuire 68). In using the results of the assessment, one can determine the affects that rest and exercise have on the cardiac system. Heart rate is described as the rate of the cardiac cycle. Heart rate is measured in beats per minute (bpm). A well conditioned heart is able to pump large amounts of blood with each beat. This is called bradycardia (* 60 bpm). In contrast, a poorly conditioned heart is called tachycardia (* 100). Males have an average resting heart rate between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The average resting blood pressure is around 120/80 mmHg. The pulse oximeter is a photoelectric device for determining the oxygen saturation of the blood using the left index finger. In other words, the machine senses the levels of saturated hemoglobin and will convert that amount to a percent of saturation (Bilsky 2000). At rest, the normal oximetry reading is 97%. However, because Greeley is above sea level (around 5,000 ft.), the assessment will base the normal measurement at 95%. Exercise heart rate is used to help an individual utilize a specific energy system and/or condition specific systems of the body. One can utilize exercise to stimulate the heart rate. This is done by walking up and down stairs at different intensities. The rate of the cardiac cycle is a valid indicator of demands that are required on one s body. During exercise, BP is indirectly indicated by intensity or exertion levels. The systolic BP is expected to rise because of the increase in cardiac output. Diastolic BP is expected to remain equivalent to resting levels or decrease during exercise indicating an increase of vasodilation and an opening of the capillary beds. Furthermore, the pulse oximeter reading should stay relatively the same from rest to exercise, at approximately 97% (Fox 1999). It is essential to have a basic understanding of heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry readings in order to assess a person s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The war was fought in Europe and lasted as long as four year s, 1914 1918. The war costed an estimate of ten million lives and also twenty million wounded. Also, the war was triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. It is very to understand the causes of this tragedy. The war had three significant causes. They were Alliances, Militarism, and Imperialism. The first cause of World War I was Imperialism. By the late 19th century, Europe has took up so much of Earth, especially in Africa and southern Asia. The war in 1913, Britain controlled more than twelve million square miles of overseas possessions. France had over four million (Doc.F). This didn t look good for Germany and Austria Hungary who lost one million square miles of possessions between them. They trailed England and France sixteen to one. Germans saw England as a giant octopus with it s tentacles around the world sucking out the Earth s resources (Doc.E). Arms and a alliance were necessary to fight this colonial monster. • 20. Using Data From The British Election Study This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right, taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked, this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas, and which can be proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact the political leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA that wage levels were an indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Japan s offensive was planned by Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku, commander in chief of Japan s Combined Fleet, while the attack itself was led by Vice Admiral Nagumo Chuichi. U.S. aircraft losses were high due to the fact that most of the planes were parked in the open and positioned wing tip to wing tip to prevent sabotage, while this was effective against the perceived threat it left the planes wide open to strafing runs by the attacking Japanese planes. Aircraft losses incurred by the attacks amounted to 188 destroyed and 159 damaged in total. The bulk of these were taken out before even being able to get in the air. The target of Japans attacking forces was the Pacific Naval Fleet, fortunately at the time of the attack the primary targets, being the three U.S. aircraft carriers commanded by the Pacific fleet, were not in the harbor at the time of the attack. • 38. Aging Is A Biological And Social Process The process of aging is a biological process. However, someone being considered young , middle aged or old (the three main age spans) is perceived differently by divergent cultures, therefore it is considered a social construct. This essay will not only examine the three characteristics of age, particularly young and old , but also it will come to a conclusion in relation to the essay question outlined above. The process of aging is a biological/social process. In contrary, varying cultures and people interpret ages ( young , middle aged and old ) very differently due to the world s diverse age markers. For example, in Japan, the average life expectancy of a man is 80 years old and a woman is 87 years old, as stated by the World Health Organization (Anon., 2014), which means that men and women are not considered old until they are in their seventies or eighties. However, in Sierra Leone, the average life expectancy of a man is 47.5 years old and a woman is 48 years old, which means that people in the age range of thirty to forty would be considered old or middle aged . The difference in people s perceptions on who would be considered old and who wouldn t shows that conceptions on adolescence and age in general are examples of a cultural construction; there is no set age across the world for what is old and what is young. The treatment of the elderly also differs dramatically across cultures. It is well documented that a great majority of Eastern societies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite Kuwait s oil wealth it was already a wealthy country. If it came down to it Kuwait could survive without its oil revenue because of all its investments. In 1990 when the price of oil started dropping Iraq was in real trouble. At an OPEC meeting in May 1990, Iraq stressed their anger about Kuwait s over production of oil. Part of American corrections is prisons, but corrections is much more than that. Corrections includes prisons, jails, halfway houses, group homes, probation, parole, intensive supervision, electric monitoring, restitution programs, victim offender mediation, and even the death penalty. Corrections can be defined as all that society does to and with offenders after they have been found guilty of a crime. Corrections even includes some things done to offenders prior to conviction, such as detention in jails pending adjudication of guilt and programs for offenders who are diverted out of the criminal system. I will start this paper by exploring early corrections in the United States. The village style, communal life of colonial America did not lend itself to extensive use of institutional incarceration. Resources and expertise for erecting jails or prison facilities were non existent. A few jails were used as short term housing facilities for those awaiting trial or imposition of a sentence. Some offenders served short jail terms, but one reason jails were not used as frequently as in later times was due to economics. Even today, jails and prisons are a financial drain on society. It is expensive to feed and house prisoners. Another economic motive has been connected to the scarce use of prisons and jails. Incarcerated prisoners ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
