The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to billions of physical devices around the world that are connected to the Internet and able to collect and share data. These include anything from pills and planes to smartwatches and fitness trackers. The IoT allows devices to communicate independently without human action. While the IoT enables conveniences like smart homes and self-driving cars, it also raises major privacy and security concerns as all the collected data on users' activities can be sold or hacked. Neom, Saudi Arabia's planned futuristic smart city, aims to address these issues with a fully sustainable, AI-driven design integrated with nature. Global spending on enterprise IoT is expected to continue growing substantially in coming years.
