Moshoeshoe employed strategies like borrowing cattle to subjects, practicing marriage alliances between clans, allocating land, and paying tribute to stronger chiefs to avoid wars as he successfully built the Basotho Nation.

The Basotho Nation was founded by Moshoeshoe

He was the son of Mokhachane.
He was born in about 1786 at Leribe,
Menkhoaneng.
His birth name is Lepoqo.
When he was growing up he was named
Tlaputle.
He was given the name Letlama at the
initiation school.
He later named himself Moshoeshoe.

He got advices from Mohlomi.
