Classification
Classification Essay
There are three types of drivers in this world: competent, overcautious, and reckless. After driving for
many years in frustrating rush hour traffic, one might find there are three types of drivers, competent
drivers who keep the flow going, over cautious drivers who cause slow and backed up traffic, and
reckless drivers who weave in and out of traffic causing one near death experience after another.
Trying to sort out what type of driver a person might be is an extremely challenging task. In a person s
own mind, they think they are the aggressive type of driver, or the cautious type, but no one will ever
admit that they are reckless kind. In most cases they re too oblivious to these classifications and all

A final classification of an overcautious driver would be one who was previously in bad accident.
Feeling the mental and financial sting of having to buy a whole new car really puts things into
perspective, but hinders them on the road.
Now we get into what is known as the reckless driver. A picture comes to mind of a frazzled man or
woman driving a beat up Oldsmobile; cigarette dangling from the lip of their mouth, swerving in and
out of traffic while others beep their horns in disapproval. This type of driver can occur when a
competent driver has had a bad day and is encountering the overly cautious driver. Stereotypically this
driver is younger in age and male, but I feel that the reckless driver has no set age or sex. They get so
angry for the smallest of reasons that they don t really care what they do as a result, so long as they go
out in a blaze of glory. They tend to disregard most driving signs and have no qualms about risking
their life or the lives of others. These are the drivers who barely apply the brake when coming to a
stop, more like tap tap and go . My uncle Jim is a prime example of a reckless driver. At the age of 82,
he drives a boat of a Cadillac, commanding the streets with his led foot and somewhat latent reactions
to those around him. Try telling him to ease up or look out, and he s bound to increase the gas flow to
his V8 engine.

Decade Of The 1920s Essay
The Decade of the 1920s
Newspapers had once been the only mass communication entertainment. The demand for new
products that emerged in the 1920s created a new industry, advertising, which enticed buyers to
purchase new products, and now that the radio had emerged, advertising was integrated into this
media outlet . Radio shows like Amos n Andy, became a nationwide hit. The advertising industry grew
with the emerging industries of mass culture, especially radio and cinema. For the first time, from
coast to coast, Americans experienced the same shows and used the same advertised products due to
mass culture. The first commercial radio station aired in 1920 and broadcast music to a few thousand
listeners. By the end of the decade, thirty three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Movies, novels, automobiles, and new dances like the Foxtrot and the Charleston influenced young
people. Although contraceptives were still illegal in most states, the work of birth control advocates
such as Margaret Sanger increased its acceptance during the 1920s. Fashion that set young people
apart from other generations was the flapper fad, which was influenced by celebrities. Young women
shocked the previous generation by wearing dresses hemmed at the knee, bobbing their hair, smoking
cigarettes, and driving cars. Additionally, there were many religious issues arose during this decade.
Division among Protestants reflected the tensions in society between the traditional values of rural
areas and the modern city life. The evolving role of women, the Social Gospel movement, and science
caused many Protestants to redefine their faith. Modernists took a historical and critical view of
certain passages in the bible and believed they could accept Darwin s theory of evolution without
abandoning their religious faith. Protestant preachers in rural areas condemned the modernists and
taught that every word in the bible must be accepted as literally true. A key point in fundamentalist
doctrine was that creationism explained the origin of all life. Fundamentalist blamed the liberal views
of modernists for causing a decline in morals. Religious revivals continued as

Types of Business Ownership
1. Sole Proprietorship
Single proprietorship is the simplest form of organization in most of the countries in the world. Unlike
other forms of entity, it is usually not governed by special laws. A proprietorship is a type of business
entity which legally has no separate existence from its owner. Hence, the limitations of liability
enjoyed by a corporation and limited liability partnerships do not apply to sole proprietors. All debts
of the business are debts of the owner. The single proprietor has unlimited liability since creditors of
his business may proceed not only against the assets and properties of his business but also after his
own personal assets and properties. A sole proprietorship essentially refers to a natural person or ...

of business ownership.
General Partnership A business owned by two or more people. The partners share ownership and
control of the business.

business) and at least one limited partner(investor).
Forming a Corporation A corporation is a business which is considered a separate entity from you;
even having the legal rights of a person. There are two types of corporations; C Corporations and S
Corporations.
Limited Liability Company The new It thing in the world of entrepreneurship. It s popularity has been

Using Polystyrene ( Ps ) Standards For Calibration Essay
Introduction: Polyimides are high performance polymers with excellent electrical properties, high
thermal stability, and high strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. They also have a high
chemical resistance and are therefore typically not soluble in common solvents. Because of solubility
issues the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polyimides is near
impossible to obtain and in some cases the data listed is based on soluble precursors to the particular
polyimide of interest. These precursors are typically only soluble in amide solvents and because of
this the results obtained are questionable due to strong interactions that the polymer, mobile
phase/eluent, and stationary phase/column have with one another due to the polyelectrolyte effect.
This article aims to determine MW and MWD of polyimides via gel permeation chromatography
(GPC) by using solution imidization and thus not having to deal with the occurrence of the
polyelectrolyte effect. Therefore, the overall objective of this paper is to establish the proper
chromatographic conditions required to carry out this analysis with the use of polystyrene (PS)
standards for calibration.
Experimental:
Polyimide samples were prepared in N methylpyrrolidine (NMP) by using a step wise reaction and
end capping with m ethynylaniline in order to control the molecular weight. Via this process,
theoretical molecular weights of 5000, 10000, and 15000 g/mol were achieved and analyzed with the

Research Paper on Maya Civilization
Research Paper on Mayan Civilization The Maya Introduction All remnants of the distant past are
romantic, but ancient Maya civilization has a special fascination. It is a lost civilization, whose secrets
lie deep in the mysterious tropical forest. The style of Maya architecture and sculpture seems alien and
bizarre. The breathtaking splendor of ornate cites, the beautifully constructed grand temples, and the
ingeniously developed and advanced caledretics, mathematics, and astronomy easily mark one of the
most interesting and prosperous periods in Latin American history. Over period spanning
approximately six centuries, the Maya of Central America reached artistic and intellectual heights that

Mayan city states like Tikal were not only population centers but also served the function of
autonomous political and religious centers for the citizens who lived there. The Mayan political
structure was based on the establishment of many different political centers consisting of city states.
These city states collectively represented Mayan society, but each spoke their own peculiar Mayan
dialect. The city states consisted of numerous citizens but these citizens were not all equal. Indeed,
one characteristic of Maya society was the hierarchical nature of its social organization. This meant
that, at different levels in the society, people would be treated according to their status. This difference
in social treatment automatically meant that some citizens enjoyed a better standard of living with
more of the amenities of life than others. It also meant that at the bottom of this graded social pyramid
were the agricultural farmers and foot soldiers of the empire flourished. By virtue of being at the
bottom of the social pyramid their training and skills consisted largely of the social functions that they
performed. Hence, they were not literate and concerned themselves largely with issues of agriculture
and the basics of following orders in warfare. Above the primary agriculturalists and soldiers were the
skilled artisans, who functioned within Mayan society not only to produce functional

Technology Addiction Essay
Technology addiction is perceived as a major problem by the majority of American parents. In
Bergman s Don t Limit Your Teen s Screen Time , Bergman uses his personal experience as both a
parent and as an avid technology user to justify his argument that screen time limits have negative
effects on children. On the other hand, in Boyd s Blame Society, Not the Screen Time , Boyd blames
the American Education system, and parents for technology addiction in children, and proposes that
children should have less pressure and more free time to spend with their friends. While Bergman
utilizes his past and current experiences with technology to craft a clear argument against technology,
Boyd creates a stronger argument by drawing on her years of ... Show more content on

While games like minecraft, and applications like photoshop may allow children to flourish, it is not
the mindless, violent entertainment most parents worry about. By conveniently ignoring the concerns
of his audience, Bergman creates a divide, tremendously hurting his argument. Bergman states that
limiting screen time only fuels covert binging, (Bergman). To test his theory, Bergman stopped
restricting [his] children s screen time in [his] house, and immediately saw results (Bergman). This
one time experiment doesn t come close to the years of experience that Boyd reflects upon.
Unlike Bergman, Boyd uses strong claims, and a variety of evidence to support her argument. Boyd
reasons that since children have limited freedom and are given busy schedules, they are unable to
socialize with their peers. Boyd cites much higher levels of concern about technology addiction in
countries where there s even greater pressure to succeed and fewer social opportunities (Boyd).
Countries that pressure their children to succeed by loading their schedule with work typically have
high levels of technology addiction, and the inverse is true for countries that focus on student
happiness. Boyd notes that Finland and the Netherlands consistently outperform the U.S. in school,
and they emphasize student happiness, assigning no homework (Boyd). Not only does this approach
increase test grades, it also correlates to parents being less anxious about technology

Flight Nurses and Fligh Paramedics
Background Summary
Flight nurse s and Flight Paramedics performs as members of an aeromedical crew on helicopters
(rotor wing), and airplanes (fixed wing) aircraft, providing for in flight management and care for all
types of patients. Responsibilities of this job include the planning and preparation of flight, safety,
evaluation of an individual patient s in flight needs and request appropriate medications, supplies, and
equipment to provide continuing care from origination to the destination facility. They act as liaisons
between facilities during an interfacility transport and from scene location to trauma center during
medical and trauma related emergencies. They also initiate emergency treatment in the absence of a
physician during in flight medical emergencies. Flight nurses and Flight Paramedics have training in
mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, vasoactive medications, airway, and other intensive
care skills.
Most air medical businesses expect nurses to have at least 2 to 5 years of experience in emergency or
critical care units, and the more trauma experience, the better. This means nurses that have a proven
ability to manage multiple patients with vastly different conditions, as well as being able to make split
second decisions about patient care with maximum attention to patient care and safety. Flight

Controversies And Continuities Between 1950 And 1950-1980
There are many discontinuities and continuities between 1930 1950 and 1950 1980 so this is very
difficult to determine to whether continuities or discontinuities are more important between these
periods. Noting that one might easily argue otherwise, I would like to claim that the discontinuities
outweigh the continuities between these two periods for several reasons. First of all, despite some
similarities in the protectionism, the DP government followed a more agriculture oriented and liberal
economic policy than that of the RPP governments of 1930s. On the other hand, although the main
economic policy followed in 1930s governments and governments between 1960 1980 was import
substituting industrialization, while the former one followed the ... Show more content on

First, it is not possible to determine the exact beginning and ending of these periods. For example, a
more liberal economy trend had begun in 1947 during the RPP period before Democrat Party came to
the power. Also, the protectionist policies had begun to be implemented in the mid 50s. Therefore, one
might argue that the continuities are more important than the discontinuities between these periods. In
response to this, without ignoring the continuities, I argue that the economic policies implemented
during these periods served the interests of the different classes and created the different distribution
relationships. While the etatism policy of the 30s aimed to strengthen the Muslim Turkish urban
bourgeoisie, the DP economic policies mostly served the interest of the merchant rural bourgeoisie and
between 1960 1980s, the government policies in the economy were mostly shaped by the alliances of
the urban industrialists. Another important discontinuity between these periods was the populist
policies. While the DP and its successors followed the populist policies, we can make the claim for the
RPP governments of the Interwar period. In short, although I argue that the discontinuities are more
important the continuities between these periods, the continuities are not

This approach takes more time, and often the learner must set aside several hours of study time in
order to fully grasp what is expected of her (VARK 2012). Comparatively, a read and write score of
four was too low of a score to be considered as a bi modality asset, and was mildly suggestive of
mediocre success at the collegiate level. Kinesthetic learners must translate into the read and write
mode. The author is in disagreement with this concept. She believes that the read and write mode is a
dominant learning preference as well. Current study techniques include note taking, extra reading, and
composing discussion question responses for class. A score of three in the aural category states a
potential disadvantage for learning, especially at the university level as this technique is widely used
in Western education. This result is less worrisome, because the author is involved in an online
learning environment, which has little emphasis on the aural modality. A score of zero in the visual
category carries a strong recommendation to avoid that mode of learning. This analysis is also
incorrect as the author utilizes underlining, highlighters, and symbols as learning aides when studying
(VARK 2012). The VARK Personal Learning Profile concludes the author s greatest weakness is
visual learning. This is where study habits must be revised and changed to meet current academic
needs. Grand Canyon University

Analysis Of The Book Between The World And Me Essay
Monica Quilatan Professor Writing 37 ICS 249 9:00 to 10:50 26 October 2015 The US is appealing in
the eyes of other countries, and even ourselves, because of the free and equal characteristics we claim
ourselves to have, such as: freedom of religion, freedom to own private property, and freedom of equal
justice. However, in the eyes of an African America, Atlantic Monthly Journalist, we see that all of
these freedoms find a loophole when it comes to the black community. In Ta Nehisi Coates book
Between the World and Me, he writes from a political, yet deeply personal standpoint to analyze today

South Syrian City Of Deraa Devolved Into A Full Blown...
In March 2011, peaceful protests in the southern Syrian city of Deraa devolved into a full blown civil
conflict. Within the last five years, more than 12.2 million people have been impacted, with 7.6
million people displaced inside Syria and more than 3.8 million displaced in neighboring nations. The
majority of refugees are now living in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq. The current concern
about the humanitarian crisis is whether the aid is reaching refugees or being diverted in ways that
bolster a prolonged civil war. For this essay s purpose, aid is defined as aid and action designed to
save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of
man made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the
occurrence of such situations.
Although the current aid set up is intended to cover all existing needs inside Syria, national and
international aid is being highly controlled by the Bashar al Assad regime, and aid beyond the
Damascus borders is extremely limited. Recently, there have been numerous reports issued by the
Syrian government that opposition rebels are seizing international aid, and rebels responded with
accusations of regime forces starving besieged towns. Thus, humanitarian aid organizations are
required to distribute aid through local non governmental organizations (NGOs) that are already
operating at full capacity and have a limited geographical scope. This atmosphere

Socialization In Lord Of The Flies
The novel centers on the topic of peer socialization and takes place on an unsupervised and isolated
island, which successfully illustrates the influence of the peer group on shaping both positive and
negative aspects of the characters behaviors (Golding, 1962). Children s interaction with peers
becomes their primary form of socialization as they approach adolescence, which emphasizes the role
of social support and identification, friendship, and social comparison (Ellis Zarbatany, 2007). Social
identity theory suggests that our self identity is shaped by social contexts and based on our
identification with the group, whereas self categorization theory explains how we construct group

He is motivated through the responsibility to satisfy group benefits and the need of autonomy (Harris,
1995). As the result, he behaves accordingly to his social role in order ensure group stability through
internalizing the norms (Harris, 1995). However, Ralph s group collapses as he fails to suppress Jack s
aggression and savagery (Golding, 1962). In addition, Piggy acts as a mediator, who is actively
engaging in the group activities and maintaining efficient group functioning (Golding, 1962).
However, he holds too much personal belief with the moral judgment; therefore, he becomes the target
of the bullying and gets excluded from the group (Golding, 1962). In comparison to Ralph, Jack
values his desires with priority rather than group functioning, which allows him to become malicious
and engage in delinquent behaviors (Golding, 1962). Evidently, he successfully persuades most of the
boys to join his tribe for nutrition and protection from the beast (Golding, 1962). As he develops
similar group value with the boys, he is able to conquer Ralph, takes over his authority, and destroys
the pre existing democratic rules (Golding, 1962). Overall, the characters are able to select their own
group and construct their social identity through exploring all possible groups at very young age of
life (Harris, 1995). Most importantly, their experiences with peer groups are responsible for shaping
their behaviors and most of the variability of future

List And Describe The Signs And Symptoms Of Ad
List and Describe the Signs and Symptoms of AD? Alzheimer s Disease (AD) affects individuals and
families mentally, emotionally and physically. The signs and symptoms are progressive in nature, and
can significantly impact the quality of life of those who are affected. Early symptoms of AD are often
not detected, and therefore may lead to delayed treatment and support. In the early stages of the
disease, patients often try to conceal their symptoms, in hopes that family members, friends and
coworkers will not detect signs of deficits. Early symptoms of AD include: forgetfulness, subtle
memory loss, mild speech impairments as well as onset of depression (Pellico, 2013, p. 2013).

Employees And Employees For The Layoff
Layoffs are an inevitable part of any business that affects both employers and employees. Companies
usually decide to do layoffs when they have financial difficulties; financially troubled companies
reduce the number of employees to cut their costs and generate profit. Laying off employees is one of
the toughest decisions that management has to make. Employee reduction is a decision that must be
made carefully and with caution because it involves not only legal issues, but also affects morale in
the company.
If an employee is laid off based on the subjective criteria such as the supervisor s opinion about the
employee s characteristics, the employee can take legal actions against the company. Therefore, the
company must use objective and quantifiable criteria such as the yearly evaluations, productivity, or
seniority to base its decision of whom should be laid off. Also, to prevent legal issues, a company
must have policies, procedures, and layoff criteria in relate on how to choose employees for the layoff.
The policies and dismissal rules must be consistent across the company to preserve morale and
prevent favoritism.
Layoffs affect morale in the company; when employees feel layoffs are unfair or not justified, it
decreases their trust and loyalty and increases their resistance to the change. Therefore, in order to
keep morality at the high level, the company should be honest about the reasons for the layoffs.
Layoffs should not come as a surprise to employees;

Comparing the Great Gatsby and American Beauty
Set in the summer of the Roaring Twenties, The Great Gatsby follows the hedonistic and destructive
lifestyles of the upper social classes of post war America. This novel, written by F Scott Fitzgerald in
the same time period, criticizes the shallowness of the actions of this outlandish generation and their
eventual disillusionment with their society. American Beauty, the 1999 film directed by Sam Mendes
and written by Alan ball, uses the setting of contemporary middle class suburban America to examine

The colossal dream that Gatsby builds up and holds onto eventually becomes his downfall and is the
most prominent illustration of the failure of the American Dream in The Great Gatsby.
Although it is the repercussions of their deceptive fantasies that Gatsby and Lester fall victim to, it
was their continued search for love that leads them to these. Love is the principal value in The Great
Gatsby and is illustrated best by the contrast of Gatsby s idealized romantic love for Daisy with Daisy
s love for wealth and status, a love which is common to the majority of their irresponsible society. F
Scott Fitzgerald emphasizes Gatsby s romantic readiness through this contrast as well as Gatsby s fall
from grace that results in him becoming lost in the colossal vitality of his illusions (pg. 92). Daisy
characterizes the power of a love of money in the Great Gatsby and is used by Fitzgerald in
condemning Gatsby s hedonistic society as well as his own. However it is the absence of love rather
than the presence that is most prominent in American

Becoming An Oral Surgeon
As a surgeon you have to have a controlled arrogance. If it s uncontrolled, you kill people, but you
have to be pretty arrogant to saw through a person s chest, take out their heart and believe you can fix
it. Then, when you succeed and the patient survives, you pray, because it s only by the grace of God
that you get there. Mehmet Oz. One never considers themselves able to accomplish something great
until they meet someone great who has already acquired insight of the world from the other side, the
side where all of the talented men dwell. A young girl does not grow up dreaming of becoming an oral
surgeon; she dreams of traveling and seeing the world outside of the walls of her small town. I had
already had my fair share of adventure, having more surgeries than my mother had by the time I was
three months old. I had what specialists call Van der Woude Syndrome. Basically, I was the 1 in
100,000 babies in the world who happened to have this genetic disorder. A key characteristic of Van
der Woude Syndrome is a cleft lip. With that being said, I had many surgeons in my lifetime, but one
man stuck out. Maybe it was because it was one of the biggest surgeries I had, or maybe, just maybe it
was because God had put him in my path to inspire me for greatness. I cannot honestly say that I
remember the first time I met Dr. Demarcus Smith. He is an active member of the Cleft and

Scapegoats In Romeo And Juliet
The search for the scapegoat is the easiest of all hunting expeditions. These words spoken by Dwight
D. Eisenhower apply to The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. In this situation, a young man and woman
commit suicide in the name of love, since the stars will not allow them to be together. Multiple
scapegoats lie in this story of the tragic deaths: the fault of the families for not allowing the two to
marry, the fault of Friar Lawrence for marrying Romeo and Juliet and giving them the materials to kill
themselves, or the stupidity of youth. Fate brought Romeo and Juliet together, even when the stars
tried to keep them apart. The belief of the greater power that guides the lives of men known as fate
plays a large role in Romeo and Juliet.

Kwanzaa Research Paper
Kwanzaa is an African American and Pan African holiday that celebrates family, community and
culture. It is observed from December 26 through January 1 and its origins may be found in the first
harvest celebrations of Africa, from which this holiday takes its name. Kwanzaa is derived from the
phrase, matunda ya kwanza, which means first fruits in Swahili, a Pan African tongue that is the most
widely spoken language of Africa. The first fruits celebrations are recorded in African history dating
back to Ancient Egypt and Nubia, with references, both ancient and modern, appearing in other
classical African civilizations, such as Ashantiland and Yorubaland, and among societies as large as
empires...Swaziland, for example...and smaller groups like the Matabele.
Kwanzaa was conceived and developed in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Ron Karenga, an author and scholar
activist who stresses the need to preserve, continually revitalize and promote African American
culture. Dr. Karenga is a professor with the Department of Black Studies at California State University

observe the possibility of antidepressants causing epilepsy. The data does show some links between
antidepressant use and epilepsy, even though it is inconsistent and non decisive.
Cox proportional hazards were used to analyze the first recorded diagnosis of epilepsy for the study.
Patients were picked from the QResearch primary care database. There was a total of 238,963 patients
from 687 UK practices used in the research. Patients with past history were eliminated. There was an
increase of 37% of patients that was diagnosed with their first epilepsy/seizure with antidepressants, 8
of 11 were frequently prescribed drugs. An increased risk was found with the link of antidepressants
and epilepsy/seizures on all classes of antidepressants. Patients should be evaluated and all
possibilities should be considered. More research needs to be done as these results could contain bias
information.

industry, competitor and possible options can be examined. Subway Sandwich shops early history
roots can be traced back to the summer of 1965, with a $1,000 investment a new venture was born.
Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck worked hard to expand their business by 1974; the duo owned and

The World Of International Studies
Research Narrative In the world of international studies there are many bias parties and individuals as
there are drastically differing viewpoints regarding hot topic issues in the field. This makes for an
exciting endeavor when conducting research on topics such as Private Military Companies as all
different types of political personalities arise when such subjects are debated over. This characteristics
of the international relations area of study also becomes apparent when authors of scholarly journals
and public websites debate over fundamental issues of the aforementioned subject, such as the
different rules for engagement and fighting overseas. When hunting for sources for this project, I
found that the community of experts commonly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christopher Kinsey wrote an incredibly informative article on the fundamentals of Private Military
and even touches on a few closely related issues, for example, nuclear regulation was diccues twice
through the article. Georgia Southern s library website contain some very usful links and even some
videos on techniques regarding how to add diversity in a research paper. One such tip was to find two
different articles with completely opposite viewpoints and I believe the tactic to be very useful.
Another type of strategy that one can implement when conducting research is to find an expert in the
field and discusses their stance on the topic, it is almost like them verbally writing you an entirely
different source with a refreshing perspective. One such expert is Dr. Lubecki. He was more than
willing when asked to be interviewed for this project. He explained that regarding private militaries,
they could start another major war, he used China as one excellent example, so it is better to limit their
use until they are fully regulated. The idea was one that never appeared in any of the research for this
project. The Power to Construct International Security was a shorter academic article that was of
different origin than the other, this idea was suggested on the library website and has served as a great
tool for finding an array of articles. The last source is one from a famous and reputable newspaper. I

Who Is John Steinbeck A Tragic Hero
Money cannot solve all your problems, it can actually create more. Usually, when you receive
something great, you think you will be able to benefit from it. Well, in The Pearl by John Steinbeck,
that is not the case. Kino cannot afford to get treatment for his infant son, Coyotito. He then goes
diving for pearls and finds the Pearl of the World. Kino s life goes from great to bad as he keeps the
pearl. His downfall is inevitable. John Steinbeck s creation. Kino, is an example of a tragic hero. Kino
is a tragic hero due to him representing Aristotle s characteristics in the book. They are Hamartia,
Anagnorisis, and Catastrophe.
One reason Kino was a tragic hero was because of Hamartia. Hamartia is the mortal flaw, defect, and

Pro Euthanasia Research Paper
The term Euthanasia originates from the Greek words for good death . It refers to both, intentionally
ending a person s life by carrying out a fatal act (active), or withholding life saving or life prolonging
medical treatment (passive). It can also be further categorized into voluntary, non voluntary, and
involuntary, depending on patient consent. Physician assisted suicide and assisted suicide are large
components of the contemporary debate. The euthanasia debate has existed for thousands of years,
with the practice existing as far back as Ancient Greece and Rome. The rise of religion played a major
role in the history of euthanasia, and had a significant impact on the way human life and death were
viewed. Euthanasia is opposed by all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, however, at this time, suicide, infanticide, euthanasia and mercy killings were commonly

shift, with even suicide being viewed as shameful and sinful, and both Jews and Christians tending to
oppose euthanasia. This viewpoint continued throughout the Middle Ages and beyond, although
writers began to challenge the authority of the church during the Renaissance and the Reformation. In
the 1870s, morphine was starting to be used extensively as a pain reliever, but Samuel Williams, who
was not a physician, publicly advocated for using it to intentionally end a patient s life. His suggestion
was widely opposed and many people likened it to turning doctors into executioners. In November
1915, John Bollinger was born with severe physical defects in a Chicago hospital, and the chief of
staff, Dr. Haiselden, determined that the child would die without surgery, but opted not to carry it out,
stating that he would stand by passively and allow the child to die naturally. He then continued this
process with other deformed and disabled babies, becoming famous for his stance and

On July 8th the press released a statement in a local newspaper reporting the event with a headline
titled: RAAF Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region. The article contained text as
follows:
The many rumors regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence office of
the 509th Bomb group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain
possession of a disc through the cooperation of one of the local ranchers and the sheriff s office of
Chaves County. The flying object landed on a ranch near Roswell sometime last week. Not having
phone facilities, the rancher stored the disc until such time as he was able to contact the sheriff s
office, who in turn notified Maj. Jesse A. Marcel of the 509th Bomb Group Intelligence Office. Action
was immediately taken and the disc was picked up at the rancher s home. It was inspected at the
Roswell Army Air Field and subsequently loaned by Major Marcel to higher headquarter. (First print
of the Daily Roswell Record for July 8th, 1947 as seen on www.theweek.com). It is believed that the
FBI transported the wreckage to Groom Lake otherwise known as Area 51 in order to be further
studied and inspected.

One of the unique parts that Melville uses that go on the storyteller s mindset towards Bartleby is

Summer Vacation
It s not often that our family gets to fly back to the states to visit family so when my brother and I flew
back during the summer of 2015, we were more than excited to be going back to South Carolina to see
close relatives that we d been missing. Since our relatives live on the coast it is often customary to
visit the beach during our vacation to kick back and enjoy ourselves. After moving to Germany our
experience with the sun and beach had been little to none. Needless to say, we were all excited to be
going to the beach again since it had been some years and we d forgotten what it was like to be at one.
That summer vacation my brother and I were quickly reminded of all the fun to be had, the people we
could meet, and the lessons we could learn while we were at the beach. When first arriving at the
beach we were greeted by the sights of wet sand, crashing waves, strong blowing winds, and a hot
radiating sun. After the initial setup of towels, umbrellas, and applying of sunscreen my cousins,
brother and I bolted for the waves that rose up the shore. Swimming in a pool is nothing like
swimming in the ocean, everything felt more extreme as we floated over waves and were dragged
around by the current. It wasn t long until my brother and I were reminded of a childhood joy of ours,
which was facing off against the waves. We would swim to a place where we could stand firmly and
try to remain standing as waves would crash down often taking us with them. When we d finish our

  • 5. Classification Classification Essay There are three types of drivers in this world: competent, overcautious, and reckless. After driving for many years in frustrating rush hour traffic, one might find there are three types of drivers, competent drivers who keep the flow going, over cautious drivers who cause slow and backed up traffic, and reckless drivers who weave in and out of traffic causing one near death experience after another. Trying to sort out what type of driver a person might be is an extremely challenging task. In a person s own mind, they think they are the aggressive type of driver, or the cautious type, but no one will ever admit that they are reckless kind. In most cases they re too oblivious to these classifications and all other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A final classification of an overcautious driver would be one who was previously in bad accident. Feeling the mental and financial sting of having to buy a whole new car really puts things into perspective, but hinders them on the road. Now we get into what is known as the reckless driver. A picture comes to mind of a frazzled man or woman driving a beat up Oldsmobile; cigarette dangling from the lip of their mouth, swerving in and out of traffic while others beep their horns in disapproval. This type of driver can occur when a competent driver has had a bad day and is encountering the overly cautious driver. Stereotypically this driver is younger in age and male, but I feel that the reckless driver has no set age or sex. They get so angry for the smallest of reasons that they don t really care what they do as a result, so long as they go out in a blaze of glory. They tend to disregard most driving signs and have no qualms about risking their life or the lives of others. These are the drivers who barely apply the brake when coming to a stop, more like tap tap and go . My uncle Jim is a prime example of a reckless driver. At the age of 82, he drives a boat of a Cadillac, commanding the streets with his led foot and somewhat latent reactions to those around him. Try telling him to ease up or look out, and he s bound to increase the gas flow to his V8 engine. After driving for many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The demand for new products that emerged in the 1920s created a new industry, advertising, which enticed buyers to purchase new products, and now that the radio had emerged, advertising was integrated into this media outlet . Radio shows like Amos n Andy, became a nationwide hit. The advertising industry grew with the emerging industries of mass culture, especially radio and cinema. For the first time, from coast to coast, Americans experienced the same shows and used the same advertised products due to mass culture. Movies, novels, automobiles, and new dances like the Foxtrot and the Charleston influenced young people. Although contraceptives were still illegal in most states, the work of birth control advocates such as Margaret Sanger increased its acceptance during the 1920s. Fashion that set young people apart from other generations was the flapper fad, which was influenced by celebrities. Young women shocked the previous generation by wearing dresses hemmed at the knee, bobbing their hair, smoking cigarettes, and driving cars. Additionally, there were many religious issues arose during this decade. Division among Protestants reflected the tensions in society between the traditional values of rural areas and the modern city life. The evolving role of women, the Social Gospel movement, and science caused many Protestants to redefine their faith. Modernists took a historical and critical view of certain passages in the bible and believed they could accept Darwin s theory of evolution without abandoning their religious faith. Protestant preachers in rural areas condemned the modernists and taught that every word in the bible must be accepted as literally true. A key point in fundamentalist doctrine was that creationism explained the origin of all life. Fundamentalist blamed the liberal views of modernists for causing a decline in morals. • 8. Using Polystyrene ( Ps ) Standards For Calibration Essay Introduction: Polyimides are high performance polymers with excellent electrical properties, high thermal stability, and high strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. They also have a high chemical resistance and are therefore typically not soluble in common solvents. Because of solubility issues the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polyimides is near impossible to obtain and in some cases the data listed is based on soluble precursors to the particular polyimide of interest. These precursors are typically only soluble in amide solvents and because of this the results obtained are questionable due to strong interactions that the polymer, mobile phase/eluent, and stationary phase/column have with one another due to the polyelectrolyte effect. This article aims to determine MW and MWD of polyimides via gel permeation chromatography (GPC) by using solution imidization and thus not having to deal with the occurrence of the polyelectrolyte effect. Therefore, the overall objective of this paper is to establish the proper chromatographic conditions required to carry out this analysis with the use of polystyrene (PS) standards for calibration. Experimental: Polyimide samples were prepared in N methylpyrrolidine (NMP) by using a step wise reaction and end capping with m ethynylaniline in order to control the molecular weight. Via this process, theoretical molecular weights of 5000, 10000, and 15000 g/mol were achieved and analyzed with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper on Maya Civilization Research Paper on Mayan Civilization The Maya Introduction All remnants of the distant past are romantic, but ancient Maya civilization has a special fascination. It is a lost civilization, whose secrets lie deep in the mysterious tropical forest. The style of Maya architecture and sculpture seems alien and bizarre. The breathtaking splendor of ornate cites, the beautifully constructed grand temples, and the ingeniously developed and advanced caledretics, mathematics, and astronomy easily mark one of the most interesting and prosperous periods in Latin American history. Over period spanning approximately six centuries, the Maya of Central America reached artistic and intellectual heights that no other group in the New World had seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mayan city states like Tikal were not only population centers but also served the function of autonomous political and religious centers for the citizens who lived there. The Mayan political structure was based on the establishment of many different political centers consisting of city states. These city states collectively represented Mayan society, but each spoke their own peculiar Mayan dialect. The city states consisted of numerous citizens but these citizens were not all equal. Indeed, one characteristic of Maya society was the hierarchical nature of its social organization. This meant that, at different levels in the society, people would be treated according to their status. This difference in social treatment automatically meant that some citizens enjoyed a better standard of living with more of the amenities of life than others. It also meant that at the bottom of this graded social pyramid were the agricultural farmers and foot soldiers of the empire flourished. By virtue of being at the bottom of the social pyramid their training and skills consisted largely of the social functions that they performed. Hence, they were not literate and concerned themselves largely with issues of agriculture and the basics of following orders in warfare. • 10. Technology Addiction Essay Technology addiction is perceived as a major problem by the majority of American parents. In Bergman s Don t Limit Your Teen s Screen Time , Bergman uses his personal experience as both a parent and as an avid technology user to justify his argument that screen time limits have negative effects on children. On the other hand, in Boyd s Blame Society, Not the Screen Time , Boyd blames the American Education system, and parents for technology addiction in children, and proposes that children should have less pressure and more free time to spend with their friends. While Bergman utilizes his past and current experiences with technology to craft a clear argument against technology, Boyd creates a stronger argument by drawing on her years of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While games like minecraft, and applications like photoshop may allow children to flourish, it is not the mindless, violent entertainment most parents worry about. By conveniently ignoring the concerns of his audience, Bergman creates a divide, tremendously hurting his argument. Bergman states that limiting screen time only fuels covert binging, (Bergman). To test his theory, Bergman stopped restricting [his] children s screen time in [his] house, and immediately saw results (Bergman). This one time experiment doesn t come close to the years of experience that Boyd reflects upon. Unlike Bergman, Boyd uses strong claims, and a variety of evidence to support her argument. Boyd reasons that since children have limited freedom and are given busy schedules, they are unable to socialize with their peers. Boyd cites much higher levels of concern about technology addiction in countries where there s even greater pressure to succeed and fewer social opportunities (Boyd). Countries that pressure their children to succeed by loading their schedule with work typically have high levels of technology addiction, and the inverse is true for countries that focus on student happiness. Boyd notes that Finland and the Netherlands consistently outperform the U.S. in school, and they emphasize student happiness, assigning no homework (Boyd). Not only does this approach increase test grades, it also correlates to parents being less anxious about technology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Controversies And Continuities Between 1950 And 1950-1980 There are many discontinuities and continuities between 1930 1950 and 1950 1980 so this is very difficult to determine to whether continuities or discontinuities are more important between these periods. Noting that one might easily argue otherwise, I would like to claim that the discontinuities outweigh the continuities between these two periods for several reasons. First of all, despite some similarities in the protectionism, the DP government followed a more agriculture oriented and liberal economic policy than that of the RPP governments of 1930s. On the other hand, although the main economic policy followed in 1930s governments and governments between 1960 1980 was import substituting industrialization, while the former one followed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, it is not possible to determine the exact beginning and ending of these periods. For example, a more liberal economy trend had begun in 1947 during the RPP period before Democrat Party came to the power. Also, the protectionist policies had begun to be implemented in the mid 50s. Therefore, one might argue that the continuities are more important than the discontinuities between these periods. In response to this, without ignoring the continuities, I argue that the economic policies implemented during these periods served the interests of the different classes and created the different distribution relationships. While the etatism policy of the 30s aimed to strengthen the Muslim Turkish urban bourgeoisie, the DP economic policies mostly served the interest of the merchant rural bourgeoisie and between 1960 1980s, the government policies in the economy were mostly shaped by the alliances of the urban industrialists. Another important discontinuity between these periods was the populist policies. While the DP and its successors followed the populist policies, we can make the claim for the RPP governments of the Interwar period. This approach takes more time, and often the learner must set aside several hours of study time in order to fully grasp what is expected of her (VARK 2012). Comparatively, a read and write score of four was too low of a score to be considered as a bi modality asset, and was mildly suggestive of mediocre success at the collegiate level. Kinesthetic learners must translate into the read and write mode. The author is in disagreement with this concept. She believes that the read and write mode is a dominant learning preference as well. Current study techniques include note taking, extra reading, and composing discussion question responses for class. A score of three in the aural category states a potential disadvantage for learning, especially at the university level as this technique is widely used in Western education. This result is less worrisome, because the author is involved in an online learning environment, which has little emphasis on the aural modality. A score of zero in the visual category carries a strong recommendation to avoid that mode of learning. This analysis is also incorrect as the author utilizes underlining, highlighters, and symbols as learning aides when studying (VARK 2012). The VARK Personal Learning Profile concludes the author s greatest weakness is visual learning. This is where study habits must be revised and changed to meet current academic needs. The majority of refugees are now living in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq. The current concern about the humanitarian crisis is whether the aid is reaching refugees or being diverted in ways that bolster a prolonged civil war. For this essay s purpose, aid is defined as aid and action designed to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of man made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. Although the current aid set up is intended to cover all existing needs inside Syria, national and international aid is being highly controlled by the Bashar al Assad regime, and aid beyond the Damascus borders is extremely limited. Recently, there have been numerous reports issued by the Syrian government that opposition rebels are seizing international aid, and rebels responded with accusations of regime forces starving besieged towns. Companies usually decide to do layoffs when they have financial difficulties; financially troubled companies reduce the number of employees to cut their costs and generate profit. Laying off employees is one of the toughest decisions that management has to make. Employee reduction is a decision that must be made carefully and with caution because it involves not only legal issues, but also affects morale in the company. If an employee is laid off based on the subjective criteria such as the supervisor s opinion about the employee s characteristics, the employee can take legal actions against the company. Therefore, the company must use objective and quantifiable criteria such as the yearly evaluations, productivity, or seniority to base its decision of whom should be laid off. Also, to prevent legal issues, a company must have policies, procedures, and layoff criteria in relate on how to choose employees for the layoff. The policies and dismissal rules must be consistent across the company to preserve morale and prevent favoritism. Layoffs affect morale in the company; when employees feel layoffs are unfair or not justified, it decreases their trust and loyalty and increases their resistance to the change.
