Strategic Challenges Between Samsung And Eskom
Introduction
Strategic management plays a vital role in most organisations as it consists of formulating and
implementing the company s goals; this is done by taking into account the available resources and
doing an analysis of the internal and external environment (Takalkar, 2014). The author of this essay
will be identifying and analysing a significant strategic challenge that was faced by a local and global
entity from two different industries, furthermore an external and internal analysis will be given. Lastly
the author will address how the two organisations were able to overcome the strategic challenge in
order to strengthen the strategic positions of the organisations. The local entity that was chosen is
Eskom which falls part of the energy industry and for the global entity Samsung was chosen as it falls
part of the technology industry. The differences found between Samsung and Eskom are that Samsung
provides products that can be seen as a want for its consumers whereas Eskom provides a service
which is a need for the general public. A similarity that can be found between the two entities is that
both these companies are leading players within the industry they belong to. The reason these two
organisations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the strengths that can be identified at Eskom is the fact that it is the main power supplier which
gives Eskom a competitive advantage. The company is also in support of Black Economic
Empowerment and has a highly skilled workforce. With that said the organisation also has weaknesses
and at Eskom an evident weakness is the lack of clear decision making when it comes to policies, such
as the Medupi delay caused by poor decision making. Furthermore Eskom has had labour issues like
the employee strike during the construction of a power station, this lead to a standstill and delay in

The Black Cat Thesis
The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe is a horror story about a man who loses everything he once had due
to his alcohol use/abuse. The story begins when the narrator confesses his love for animals. The
narrator marries a woman and introduces her to a black cat, named Pluto. The narrator begins to suffer
from violent and uncontrollable mood swings, caused from influence of alcohol. After coming home
drunk one night the narrator lashes out at Pluto, he quickly tries to grab the cat, only to be bitten. To
get revenge the narrator pulls a knife from his pocket and cuts out one of Pluto s eyes. He then goes on
to blame this on the spirit of perverseness, which means rejecting what is good, right, and/or proper.
Meaning that the narrator believes that in his alcoholic haze, he is possessed and it is making him
wicked and corrupt. The narrator says the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator even claims not to be crazy, but then he goes on to think and act in such a way that the
reader would label him as insane. Although Poe does not provide an explanation for the narrator s loss
of sanity, Poe does hint that madness might happen at any time to any person, just like how the
narrator transforms from a gentle animal lover into an evil killer. The narrator does address the fact
that he is an alcoholic, But my disease grew upon me for what disease is like Alcohol (Poe 46).
Professor McMurran, a psychologist at the University of Nottingham, says that, Alcohol reduces our
ability to think straight, it narrows our focus of attention and gives us tunnel vision. If someone
provokes us while we re drunk, we don t take other factors into account, such as consequences, this
can lead to violent reactions from people who would usually shrug things off (Alcohol and
Aggression). This would explain why the narrator in The Black Cat would have had such violent
mood swings which lead him to do the insane things that he

What are some of the challenges in determining the time of death using insects?
Ans. Some of the challenges in determining the time of death using insects would be keeping the body
in a cold environment which would completely stop decomposition. Another challenge would be
burning the body in a flammable liquid that would damage the body.
2. Why is entomology an important area of forensic science? How can this area help criminal
investigations?
Ans. Entomology is an important area in forensic science because it can prove the time and place of an
incident and can also help in catching the killer.
3. What is the process of collecting insect samples? What challenges are there in collecting samples of
insects from human remains?
Ans. First of all, forensic entomologists get the temperature of the body, and then look for the
presence of maggot mass. They also count in the weather outside the body. The body getting enough
sunlight or none at all makes it a big challenge for them. It can affect the time of when insects usually
tend to appear in the body.
4. Why is the study of insects and their life cycles important for forensic entomologists? How is this

The Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech
In the film The King s Speech , written by David Seidler and released on November 26, 2010, the
filmmaker portrays Albert being constantly under pressure for speaking correctly, by comparing his
speech to great broadcasters who are anything but great leaders. The pressure that comes from Albert s
father, King George V, results in more frustration for the both of them, without either of them realising
that to lead a country into greatness depends more on just speaking well. Throughout the film, there
had been ideal speech models like Hitler, David, and King George V, shown in order to compare their
speech to Albert s and to show what a great speaker has to sound in order to gain the public s support.
Ironically, all of those speech perfect models turned out to be egocentric individuals and the least
egotistical leader, Albert, is the one with the impaired speech. I argue that in The King s Speech , the
characters who serve as models of ideal speech are figures of oppression, therefore the author is
implying that the idea of having ideal speech does not live up to it s praise.
Oppressive leaders like Hitler have used public speaking in order to bring destruction to the world like
war. In the scene when the royal family is watching him on the projector, Hitler is controlling a mass
army while speaking with a powerful tone in a fast and concise pace. Hitler s body language also
represents the intensity of his message to his country by pointing his fingers vigorously. The

What Are Robert Reich s Strongest Points
One of Robert Reich s strongest point lies in his ability to describe the reason for the difference in
wages. It is one of his strongest points because his description allows the readers to understand the
reason behind their salaries. Another of Robert Reich s strength is his ability to appeal to the youth
who are growing during this time period. He is able to persuade the youth to stay in school by
informing them that the jobs that allow them to earn living wages are the jobs that require a high
school diploma or higher. His ability to persuade children to attend school is one of his strongest
points because his information will inspire those kids to make informed decisions about their career
that could contribute to the economy and change

Hugo Chavez Research Paper
The power usurper attempts to maximize his power trying to perpetuate himself in government
(Diamint 62). Chavez attempted to do this by altering the constitution so that the term limits were
longer and that he could run for immediate reelection. The previous constitution prevented immediate
reelection and made candidates wait 10 years before running for president again. This was set up to
prevent the rise of a dictator or another king, but the people put their faith in Hugo Chavez and
approved the constitutional referendum in 1999. Chavez maximized his power and the power of his
successor Nicolas Maduro by making these changes. Chavez passed away from cancer in 2013 from

Venezuela reads like a textbook example of the socialist end game: Social implosion driven by
economic collapse, caused by shockingly self destructive policy making (Toro 39). Socialism of the
21st Century in the end just did not work and had failed. The changes made to the constitution have
created a government that runs inefficiently and gives the president too much power. Chavez
mismanaged the country s income and caused inflation of the Bolivar Note. Chavez had good
intentions, but his programs to help the impoverished failed because of poor management. These
people that he was trying to help are now more hurt than they were before because money put into
these programs was not used effectively. This money could have been used to invest in the oil reserves
and other parts of the economy to set the country up for success. Food is hard to come by and the
crime and murder rate continues to raise. The country in debt and cannot even buy imports to sell to
its citizens. Venezuela will need outside help if it is to recover from the situation caused by Hugo

economy was doing well in the beginning and he was able to control the media so that the public

Jonas: We are group 5 the name of our bridge is Beam 5 .
Yarden: While creating our bridge our initial plans were much different than what our final product
was. The more we worried about the strength of the bridge, the less time we had. We started off with
the idea to have a truss bridge made of wood and cardboard. As shown here, (show picture from

Arielle: (show drawing) In the end we had made a beam bridge out of hot glue, cardboard and

cardboard alone was not strong enough. If we were to use a material like wood, the bridge could have

Sam: A real life bridge that is similar to our household bridge is the Hoffstadt Bridge. The Hoffstadt

Hoffstadt Creek and Hoffstadt Mountain. The Hoffstadt Bridge is 2,340 feet long, or about 712
meters. Similar to our bridge, this bridge is supported by trusses on the bottom. The Hoffstadt Bridge
also has a flat deck such as ours.
Jonas: If we had another chance to do this bridge project, I think that we would make goals to make
our bridge earlier so that we could make more improvements. On our first try we were rushed to make
a bridge because of our indecisiveness. As I said before, we ended up making a bridge that we could
not test earlier. It then happened that our bridge was very weak and did not succeed in holding a lot of
weight. If we made more time to go over our bridge, then our bridge might have had a better strength

Essay on Analysis of Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith
Analysis of Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the
conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.
Adam Smith
The reasons for writing a book such as Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations are many, and Smith
seems to have had several in mind. His study traces the stages in the development of the modern
economic system in an attempt to explain it, maps out the origins of money, and finally tackles the
issues facing the mercantile system which controlled the society he lived in. In the process, he
provides an exposition for his vision of a laissez faire economy, that is, capitalism as we now know it.

Looking at his own society s economic system, Smith explores the division of labour, the role it has to
play in industrialization, and its general impact upon the wealth of the state.
Smith regards the division of labour and the resultant specialization as the key to increasing the
productivity of labour, rather than the increase in mechanization since the
Industrial Revolution began, as many would argue. Naturally, a highly specialized economic unit
would be dependent upon interaction with other, similarly specialized units, and Smith illustrates that
a system of fair and accessible trade is necessary for an efficient use of labour.
The much quoted example of the pin maker is used to demonstrate Smith s point about the division of
labour. Despite its questionable accuracy, this example does much to illustrate the plight of labour
under a system of increasing specialization. That is to say, it shows the boredom and melancholia
which can be associated with repetitious and laborious work. For Smith, however, any such problem is
amply compensated for by the relative prosperity of a society based upon specialized markets and
trades. For instance,

Irony In The Plague Tales By Ann Benson
Sire, I am a Spaniard, and I bear no allegiance to France (Benson 304). In the book, The Plague Tales
by Ann Benson, the theme, sometimes deceiving can be good, develops throughout the novel. Ann
Benson supports the theme with the motif of deception by making the characters lie to save
themselves, making them lie to have more composure, and making them lie to seem like a better
person.
A motif in the novel that conveys the theme are characters lying to save themselves from getting
caught. One example of Alejandro lying to save himself from being caught is when he lies about his
religion. For example, the author states, Sire, I am a Spaniard, and I bear no allegiance to France
(304). This shows that Alejandro lies about his religion and ethnicity so he is not given away. Lying
also helps him keep his job as a physician. Benson also states, Alejandro claims he is Alejandro
Hernandez, a Spaniard (240). This demonstrates how he lies about being Alejandro Hernandez
because his real name might get him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of Alejandro lying is when he tries to make the king believe that he is right and not
letting the tailor come into the castle. Do whatever is necessary to see that the safety of the castle is
maintained, he said to Alejandro. Then he turned to Isabella and said, I will hear no complaints about
this anymore (319). By doing this, he is able to make the king believe him and then he seems credible,
also this seems to make him more powerful through the kingdom. Alejandro is tested by the king to
see if he is lying about Guy de Chauliac. Perhaps he tests me, Alejandro thought, to see if I will speak
truthfully (296). This makes the king believe him more and by him being trustworthy, he is able to
keep his job for the king. In general, Alejandro seems to lie to seem like a good and better person.
Lying helps him and relates to the theme that lying can sometimes be

Was Andrew Carnegie A Hero
Andrew Carnegie did amazing things with his money while and even after he was alive. He also had
flaws and did some not so very good things. He used his fortune to do things like buying organs for
churches, donating to colleges, and building public libraries. His Homestead steel mill, on the other
hand experienced a strike and its workers were not very content, which Carnegie turned a blind eye to.
So was Andrew Carnegie a hero?
The Homestead steel mill was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was owned by Andrew
Carnegie. The conditions were not very safe. One worker stated ...Sometimes the slag falls on the

His net worth was 310 billion at the time of his death. His daily wage was near $92,000. He also made
amazing contributions to people and organizations. That included the Princeton University, Carnegie

money for public libraries would make up for the calamity at the Homestead steel mill strike.
Although, Carnegie donated $4 million to the Homestead Relief Fund for steel workers and families.
Carnegie had all this money yet his employees still received very low wages. Carnegie notably
believed in survival of the fittest and that it was necessary for their to be poor people for the sake of
the race. People found fault with how Carnegie gave his workers little wages yet played philanthropist
with all of his generous donations. I believe that this lessens Carnegie s tenability to be a hero . He
should have given his workers a much higher wage considering how much money he himself was

The Film Shawshank Redemption We Learn About A Man Who Is...
In the film Shawshank Redemption we learn about a man who is an educated, professional banker by
trade, who finds himself in a situation in which he chooses to secretly follow his beautiful wife
knowing she is having an affair with the golf pro who works at their country club. One evening, Andy,
the banker, decides to bring a gun along with him as he follows his wife and the golf pro. He stops at a
couple of bars and proceeds to become inebriated. Andy is clearly a man whom by all means would be
considered a respectable person in society and follows the particular norms of that time until he begins
to make choices to differentiate himself from the folkways and mores of any expectations regarding
the laws that had been established for the purpose of structure, order and conformity. By all accounts
we see Andy s character reflecting certain choices of conformity in which he clearly represents
behavior and appearance that follows and maintains a particular standard and acceptance of a group.
As we learn further in the story we must also consider the factors of behavior that reflects deviance.
This behavior challenges the norms. Andy has been convicted of violating the norms of everyday life
by murdering his wife and her lover and he is arrested for the murder. Although in Andy s court
preceding he pled innocence and expressed to the judge that he had not murdered his wife and her
lover, maintaining the story that he had sobered himself up and then

namely, that people choose to interact, trade and form alliances with like peoples . It then, shouldn t

Rhetorical Devices In Mother To Son
In the poem, Mother to Son, Langston Hughes writes about a mother that encourages her son to move
forward in life, even when obstacles arise. The mother tells her story of the hardships that she was
forced to endure in order to motivate her son to become the best that he can be. Throughout the poem,
the author s use of diction and rhetorical devices make the mother s message more powerful to the
reader. Hughes uses a wistful and somber tone to show the plight of the mother when she was growing
up. In the beginning lines, the author makes a striking comparison by stating that the mother s life ain t
been no crystal stair (2). This metaphor suggests that she had to endure many hardships throughout her

Forensic Anthropology Essay
The field of forensic anthropology centers on the analysis of human remains; a key component of such
an analysis is the knowledge of how much time has passed between the death of an individual and the
discovery of the associated remains. This period is termed the postmortem interval and is useful in
regards to providing an identification of remains, as awareness of the time of death can be
instrumental in determining the specifics of a crime. Determination or estimation of the postmortem
interval (PMI) is possible due to certain consistencies in the process of decomposition of organisms as
well as both biotic and abiotic factors associated with decaying remains. Over time, new methods have

Following the cessation of cardiac and respiratory functions in humans, cell death commences leading
to the complete death of the individual. The chemical processes that result from the massive death of
cells, such as release of enzymes and digestive fluids, act to begin the decay of the cadaver. Of
important note, normal bacteria associated with the human digestive system are no longer held in
check by the human immune system and the physical separations between the digestive tract and the
other organs. Thus, bacterial action is a critical decay component, and the significance of such action
will be investigated shortly. In traditional forensic taphonomic nomenclature, the cadaver progresses
from the fresh stage upon death to the bloat stage at the beginning of microbial action (Finley et al.
2015). Upon the onset of insect activity, active decay begins until most consumable matter is removed,
leading to the advanced decay stage; dry decay follows when only bone and keratinous tissue remains
(Finley et al. 2015). Based upon environmental conditions such as temperature and moisture
availability, the time interval for each of these stages and thus the overall decay process from fleshed
body to skeleton may vary significantly. Thus, a standard taphonomic analysis of remains may not
provide a very accurate indication of PMI; however, other methods used in conjunction can greatly
increase accuracy in PMI

located at 795 Atlantic Avenue. As an investor, Bailey is interested in making an offer on the property
however he is trying to make his offer look more attractive than the competitors. With thorough
research, he has found ways that would improve the building and in turn generate a larger yearly cash
flow while still being able to improve the building. Bailey was also considering converting the current
office space building into condominium units but that was strictly dependent on the revenue that could
be generated from doing so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
III. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS If Bailey were to outbid the competitors and successfully purchase the
building there are a variety of options that Bailey could engage in in order to improve the building.
The first option would be to keep Pilgrim as a tenant in the building. By doing this he would secure
100,000 square feet of space at $26 /sq. ft generating about $2,600,000 in rental income just from
Pilgrim. Also with keeping the space as office space, Bailey found that he would be able to fill in two
out of the four floors of the atrium adding an additional 10,000 in rentable square footage. This was
something that none of the other competitors had noticed. Bailey also noticed that he would be able to
renovate all 20 bathrooms within the building but that his renovation would be about 15,000 cheaper
than his competitors. Continuing with the renovations, Bailey saw that the atrium would need to be
upgraded and instead of it costing him around $200,000, which would be the cost to his competitors,
he had the ability to save $50,000 by reusing the marble in the bathrooms as the floor and walls of the
atrium. Taking into consideration all of the upgrades and renovations, as well as the fact that Bailey
would be able to manage the building at 0.50/ sq ft compared to his competitors which were managing
at $1.25/ sq ft, the value at which Bailey would place on keeping the building an office space would
be $3,433,649.13 (see

Athletes Should Not Be Paid
Title
Athletes suit up and perform on a daily and weekly basis. Week in and week out, athletes draw in
thousands and thousands of fans to speculate the flashy performance. They give the best effort, putting
themselves at risk, doing anything possible to insure a victory. Many hours of hard work are spent to
perform the best they can. Through the dedication and performance of these athletes, speculations
have aroused that athletes should begin to receive pay. Some people believe that colligate athletes
should be paid due to their performance as professional sport athletes do. The idea may sound fruitful,
but it also poses many problems. I believe that colligate athletes should not be paid due to the
scholarships available, the yearly college budget, and the decreases in interest in grades.
Student athletes have the ability to receive academic, sport scholarships, and many other scholarships.
Academic scholarships can range from any amount of paid tuition based on the student s performance
throughout high school. Sport scholarships can range from any amount of money toward tuition to
free tuition. If an athlete can acquire both and academic and sport scholarship, the school program will
lower the sport scholarship to save for another athlete. When athletes graduate college, they have the
chance to come out of college debt free. Mark Guarino reported that college football players at
Northwestern are receiving a sixty thousand dollar scholarship for playing football. This

Persuasive Essay On Taxing The Rich
Taxing the Rich Since the birth of our nation, there has been fierce debate between fiscal
conservatives and liberals on how we should tax our people. Conservatives say that we should tax the
rich less, where liberals say we should tax the rich more. Raising taxes on the rich is beneficial to the
majority of the American populace. Taxing the rich more and the poor less would increase the velocity
of money in the economy. The super rich should pay more to maintain and improve the system they
utilized to become rich. We need to retool the new generation of workers for the world and that
required more capital. The richest 1% of people in the country own more than the bottom 90% so they
should be completely fine with a higher tax rate. Raising

Was Hitler Responsible For The Holocaust Essay
In spite of Adolf Hitler s critical role in the Holocaust, he was not directly responsible for the majority
of the horrors that the events created.
All of Germany had a solid reason for the persecution, if not extreme terrors that it included. After the
conclusion of World War One and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was launched into
a massive depression that devastated the country. Those who are suffering are bound to reach a state of
anger at some point, and at the beginning they were right to feel this sentiment. The neighboring
nations had set unfair and cruel requirements for Germany in the Treaty of Versailles, which ruined
their economy, resulting in massive inflation and extreme poverty. Thus, Germany was angry. The ...

Many Nazis were unnecessarily cruel to their prisoners and those they watched over. Citizens and
Nazis alike participated in Kristallnacht, even though little punishment would follow those who did
not take part as long as they did not protest. Mengele, for example, was not required by law to perform
cruel and unusual experiments on his people. Eichmann, Himmler, Jeckeln, Ilse Koch. These people
were not followers, they were leaders. Ilse Koch skinned her inmates at Buchenwald and used their
skins as pillow cushions and book covers. She encouraged the rape, murder, and torture of her girls,
thinking it to be great fun (whatculture.com 2). Jeckeln developed a system, force the prisoners to dig
a massive ditch, strip, lay down in the ditch, and be shot in their self dug grave (whatculture.com 1).
Jeckeln organised Babi Yar, where laughing soldiers beat the Jews to death and shot them in Jeckeln s
favorite way. It was said of Babi Yar that, Those who hesitated had their clothes ripped off of them by
force, and were kicked and struck with knuckledusters or clubs by the Germans, who seemed to be
drunk with fury in a sadistic sort of rage (Anatoli 106). These malevolent people led to horrors not
required nor even imagined by Hitler. They came only from the brains of these malicious, sadistic
monsters. Hitler may have encouraged his nation, but he did not directly cause this

The Merchant Of A Renaissance Merchant Family
Renaissance Florence was a very hierarchical society where there were different classes of people and
each class had a certain function. One such class was the merchant class. Just like society in general,
the merchant class family was structured in a way that gave certain people certain roles. While it is
fairly obvious what a man s role was, it is sometimes difficult to discern what exactly a woman s role
was in this male dominated society due to varying and oftentimes conflicting accounts. In a
Renaissance Florentine merchant family, a woman s official function was to have children, to raise
them, and to help arrange their marriages when they came of age. However, it was possible, under the
correct circumstances, for a woman to expand her role within the family while still conforming to the
patriarchal ideal. In a Renaissance Florentine merchant family, a woman s most important role was to
bear and raise children. This is clear in Alberti s On the Family when he states, And for procreating
children, let no one doubt that women are necessary. For the child comes into the world tender and
weak; he therefore needs someone to take care of him...Thus the woman from earliest times remained
in the shadow [of a roof] to nurture and care for the child. Likewise, Alessandra Strozzi reiterates this
sentiment in a letter to her son where she is telling him of all the luxuries she has foregone and then
goes on to say, But for the hope that you will take a wife (in the aim of having

Linda Loman
Being successful takes on so many different meanings to a variety of people. Some people may see
success as how wealthy one is, where others view success as happiness. In Arthur Miller s play Death
of a Salesman, Miller implies, through Linda Loman, the human understanding of being wealthy and
popular equals success; however, this view is completely arbitrary to what success actually is. Miller
hints that the Lomans see success as being well liked and rich; having this mindset is the Lomans
downfall. Linda explains to Willy, her husband, I think if [Biff] finds himself then you ll both be
happier. Willy then remarks, How can he find himself on a farm? Is that a life? A farmhand? ...ten
years now and he has yet to make thirty five dollars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linda tries to explain to Willy that a job like a farmhand is a way for Biff to find himself, that there is
more to job that makes less than just $35 dollars a week. Ironically Biff would feel content with a
farm job if Willy did not push for a job in town. Similarly, Linda chastises Biff for not settling down.
In the time period that this play takes place, the stereotype was to live out the American dream; have a
family, get rich, own a home, something Biff has not done. Miller makes this evident when Linda
proclaims that Biff cannot look around his whole life, Biff replays that he cannot take hold of some
kind of life, Linda remarks, Biff, a man is not a bird, to come and go with the springtime, (39). With
the idea of success of having wealth and binging well liked, being the complete opposed can cause
some issues. Biff is a wonderer and a outdoors type of person, where Linda and Willy believe in
having a steady job in town. Biff is trying to find success but is not finding it because he is trapped in
the mindset of his parents. Being popular has nothing to do with success; success comes through with
hard work and

Government Vs Government Intervention
The papers of history books, is full of the names of artists who died in poverty, and who weren t
cherished for what they had created. For many years, it has been argued that one of the ways in which
this can be prevented, is the government intervention. Although, it has been amply mentioned from
time to time, by differnet scholars, that governments should not intervene in people s lives, and the
government s stepping in is extenuated in just a scant of situations, but sometimes, there isn t an
alternative way. Although it may seem irrelevant to Art, consider the case of the Steam Engine, which
many believe is invented by James Watt. The truth is this equipment was invented about one hundred
years before Mr. Watt even fathomed such an idea; It was a French physician, who first came up with
the idea of a steam engine, but the government didn t support him, and as a result, his invention had
gone to waste. So the government support is nothing to be neglected in the case of inventions and
technologies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider a musician, who is forced to contribute a song to a presidential campaign, the result could
not be interpreted as a pure art, but at the best case, it would be a commercial entity. Undoubtedly, the
probability of these cases to happen, is much more in a country which is ruled by a totalitarian
government. So, when lauding and encouraging the need for the governments to support artists, we
must not forget which kind of government are we talking about. In summary, there are pros and cons
in pushing the argument for the government intervention to support artists. We should consider both
sides : the case of an artist, who is living in extreme pauperization, and his creativeness is
deteriorating; and the case in which an artist s work is being jeopradized by a totalitarian government
that is dictating what should be created and what should

Analysis Of Gwen Harwood s Anthology Of Selected Poems
The notion that ordinary, everyday experiences encompass universal emotions of both sadness and
delight is central to Gwen Harwood s anthology of Selected Poems. This Australian poet often uses
her personal journey towards self knowledge and experience of growing up to comment on universal
aspects of raw, uncensored life experiences. She aims to convey the idea that motherhood is a difficult
experience for many women who resent the way they are forced to abandon their individuality and
careers. Harwood also illustrates the sadness in the loss of innocence and regrets in childhood.
However, she also reminds the audience of the importance of celebrating the richness and vitality of
human life such as the importance and power of women and parenthood. Ultimately the collection
also suggests that aspects of both sadness and delight are evident in every human experience.
Harwood s works challenge the patriarchal, societal view of motherhood as a role of delight, joy and
fulfillment, revealing the hollow façade of meaningless that often comes with domestic suburban
roles. She explores the role of women in her contemporary Australian society, criticising and
challenging the expectations that women must be restricted to the domestic sphere in this patriarchal
society. Harwood s graphic description and evocative imagery conveys the hopelessness of many
women. Home of Mercy explores how females are dehumanized as the pregnant, unmarried girls have
sinned in the eyes of society and

Pro Social Skills Helps Them Get Along With Others
Pro Social skill describes to identify the behaviours people use to help them get along with others.
Those behaviours include giving help and comfort to others. In the Early childhood sector, it helps a
child to show empathy and get along with other children in a positive way. Showing empathy also
described as the ability to understand another person s emotions. To become a kind, warm hearted and
anxious person, pro social skills are important in making friends and collaborating in class. These
skills help children in responding in a positive way. Such as, Sharing Taking turns. Negotiation, Eye
contact, Volunteering Comforting Offering Assistance Pro social behaviours are the spontaneous
behaviour that demonstrate to benefit others. According to Zahn Waxler, Robinson, and Emde; by age
4, many children can react empathically to others, including offering help to those in distress. For
example, if a saliva is coming out from the mouth of special need child then the pre schooler will go
and wipe his face by using the paper towel in his stroller/wheelchair. It shows that he would have
observe the teacher doing the action and when she didn t notice the child, preschooler step forward to

The Negative Effects Of Social Media And Technology
There are numerous ways education can be acknowledged. In the earlier years, when our parents used
to attend school, they used simple tools to learn like a pencil and paper. They had to carry textbooks
and stationeries, not tablets and styluses. But, in this generation, technology has conveyed over on
how we perceive and understand education. The development of technology is escalating at a brisk
pace. Furthermore, bullying is also associated with the majority of the school in the First World
Countries, operate technology and social media to exchange information, and it s viewed as a mean to
study.
Technology has provided people, especially students the freedom to achieve various conventional
methods of learning. But, it also comes with multiple downfalls. School children are young; their
mentality lacks judgment. Children can be easily influenced and lead astray, if not supervised
accordingly. Kids get attracted toward the outside world, strangers, and today s media easily. It is
difficult for them to differentiate between right or wrong. If a particular situation happened to take
place, it could potentially lead to tragic or even deadly events. The application of social media is
drastically increasing, and so is the means to communicate. In a school like an area, the use of social
media can be deadly for a student. Teachers find digital tools helpful but 87% also say that sites like
YouTube are the most prominent distraction. Consistently, social media could act as a

Sahelian Trading Routes
Sahelian Trading Routes Trade routes played an essential role when considering development in the
Sahel region, given that states in the area have thrived as a consequence of supporting these respective
routes. Slave trade with Islamic states was especially significant in the development of states in the
Sahel region. Trading across the continent facilitated the wellbeing of individuals living in Sahel and
thus created an intriguing contrast between these states and other nations living in the upper and lower
Saharan areas. Trans Saharan trade occurred as early as the Roman Empire and it was actually one of
the reasons why the Romans were able to continue to support the Empire. In large measure, the
prosperity of Carthage in Roman times was due to its control of the trans Saharan trade routes,
through which it received ivory, gold, and slaves (Anton). Even though the Muslims destroyed
Carthage and were partly responsible for the fall of the last thriving city in the Roman Empire, they
did not ignore the area s great potential. Conditions in Sahel continued to improve consequent to the
eight century Mahommedan expansion to Maghreb. Moors and Moroccans focused on taking control
of all trade routes reaching the heart of Africa and traversing the continent. This resulted in large
amounts of resources reaching the hands of Sahelian kings and thus making it possible for their
kingdoms to expand at a rapid rate. The tens of thousands of African states in pre colonial

09/03/2016. Through the course of the history of Best Buy as a firm, during and over the years,
managerial changes have occurred, having being infrequent (meanings, rare, as uncommon, not
occurring often, being exceptional) through internal leadership, had some to little impact about Best

Why did managerial have any succession or failure(s) have little impact? It seems to me; little

  • 2. Strategic Challenges Between Samsung And Eskom Introduction Strategic management plays a vital role in most organisations as it consists of formulating and implementing the company s goals; this is done by taking into account the available resources and doing an analysis of the internal and external environment (Takalkar, 2014). The author of this essay will be identifying and analysing a significant strategic challenge that was faced by a local and global entity from two different industries, furthermore an external and internal analysis will be given. Lastly the author will address how the two organisations were able to overcome the strategic challenge in order to strengthen the strategic positions of the organisations. The local entity that was chosen is Eskom which falls part of the energy industry and for the global entity Samsung was chosen as it falls part of the technology industry. The differences found between Samsung and Eskom are that Samsung provides products that can be seen as a want for its consumers whereas Eskom provides a service which is a need for the general public. A similarity that can be found between the two entities is that both these companies are leading players within the industry they belong to. The reason these two organisations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the strengths that can be identified at Eskom is the fact that it is the main power supplier which gives Eskom a competitive advantage. The company is also in support of Black Economic Empowerment and has a highly skilled workforce. With that said the organisation also has weaknesses and at Eskom an evident weakness is the lack of clear decision making when it comes to policies, such as the Medupi delay caused by poor decision making. Furthermore Eskom has had labour issues like the employee strike during the construction of a power station, this lead to a standstill and delay in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Black Cat Thesis The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe is a horror story about a man who loses everything he once had due to his alcohol use/abuse. The story begins when the narrator confesses his love for animals. The narrator marries a woman and introduces her to a black cat, named Pluto. The narrator begins to suffer from violent and uncontrollable mood swings, caused from influence of alcohol. After coming home drunk one night the narrator lashes out at Pluto, he quickly tries to grab the cat, only to be bitten. To get revenge the narrator pulls a knife from his pocket and cuts out one of Pluto s eyes. He then goes on to blame this on the spirit of perverseness, which means rejecting what is good, right, and/or proper. Meaning that the narrator believes that in his alcoholic haze, he is possessed and it is making him wicked and corrupt. The narrator says the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator even claims not to be crazy, but then he goes on to think and act in such a way that the reader would label him as insane. Although Poe does not provide an explanation for the narrator s loss of sanity, Poe does hint that madness might happen at any time to any person, just like how the narrator transforms from a gentle animal lover into an evil killer. The narrator does address the fact that he is an alcoholic, But my disease grew upon me for what disease is like Alcohol (Poe 46). Professor McMurran, a psychologist at the University of Nottingham, says that, Alcohol reduces our ability to think straight, it narrows our focus of attention and gives us tunnel vision. If someone provokes us while we re drunk, we don t take other factors into account, such as consequences, this can lead to violent reactions from people who would usually shrug things off (Alcohol and Aggression). This would explain why the narrator in The Black Cat would have had such violent mood swings which lead him to do the insane things that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech In the film The King s Speech , written by David Seidler and released on November 26, 2010, the filmmaker portrays Albert being constantly under pressure for speaking correctly, by comparing his speech to great broadcasters who are anything but great leaders. The pressure that comes from Albert s father, King George V, results in more frustration for the both of them, without either of them realising that to lead a country into greatness depends more on just speaking well. Throughout the film, there had been ideal speech models like Hitler, David, and King George V, shown in order to compare their speech to Albert s and to show what a great speaker has to sound in order to gain the public s support. Ironically, all of those speech perfect models turned out to be egocentric individuals and the least egotistical leader, Albert, is the one with the impaired speech. I argue that in The King s Speech , the characters who serve as models of ideal speech are figures of oppression, therefore the author is implying that the idea of having ideal speech does not live up to it s praise. Oppressive leaders like Hitler have used public speaking in order to bring destruction to the world like war. In the scene when the royal family is watching him on the projector, Hitler is controlling a mass army while speaking with a powerful tone in a fast and concise pace. Hitler s body language also represents the intensity of his message to his country by pointing his fingers vigorously. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Hugo Chavez Research Paper The power usurper attempts to maximize his power trying to perpetuate himself in government (Diamint 62). Chavez attempted to do this by altering the constitution so that the term limits were longer and that he could run for immediate reelection. The previous constitution prevented immediate reelection and made candidates wait 10 years before running for president again. This was set up to prevent the rise of a dictator or another king, but the people put their faith in Hugo Chavez and approved the constitutional referendum in 1999. Venezuela reads like a textbook example of the socialist end game: Social implosion driven by economic collapse, caused by shockingly self destructive policy making (Toro 39). Socialism of the 21st Century in the end just did not work and had failed. The changes made to the constitution have created a government that runs inefficiently and gives the president too much power. Chavez mismanaged the country s income and caused inflation of the Bolivar Note. Chavez had good intentions, but his programs to help the impoverished failed because of poor management. These people that he was trying to help are now more hurt than they were before because money put into these programs was not used effectively. This money could have been used to invest in the oil reserves and other parts of the economy to set the country up for success. Food is hard to come by and the crime and murder rate continues to raise. The country in debt and cannot even buy imports to sell to its citizens. • 9. Essay on Analysis of Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith Analysis of Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. Adam Smith The reasons for writing a book such as Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations are many, and Smith seems to have had several in mind. His study traces the stages in the development of the modern economic system in an attempt to explain it, maps out the origins of money, and finally tackles the issues facing the mercantile system which controlled the society he lived in. In the process, he provides an exposition for his vision of a laissez faire economy, that is, capitalism as we now know it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at his own society s economic system, Smith explores the division of labour, the role it has to play in industrialization, and its general impact upon the wealth of the state. Smith regards the division of labour and the resultant specialization as the key to increasing the productivity of labour, rather than the increase in mechanization since the Industrial Revolution began, as many would argue. Naturally, a highly specialized economic unit would be dependent upon interaction with other, similarly specialized units, and Smith illustrates that a system of fair and accessible trade is necessary for an efficient use of labour. The much quoted example of the pin maker is used to demonstrate Smith s point about the division of labour. Despite its questionable accuracy, this example does much to illustrate the plight of labour under a system of increasing specialization. That is to say, it shows the boredom and melancholia which can be associated with repetitious and laborious work. For Smith, however, any such problem is amply compensated for by the relative prosperity of a society based upon specialized markets and trades. For instance, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Irony In The Plague Tales By Ann Benson Sire, I am a Spaniard, and I bear no allegiance to France (Benson 304). In the book, The Plague Tales by Ann Benson, the theme, sometimes deceiving can be good, develops throughout the novel. Ann Benson supports the theme with the motif of deception by making the characters lie to save themselves, making them lie to have more composure, and making them lie to seem like a better person. A motif in the novel that conveys the theme are characters lying to save themselves from getting caught. One example of Alejandro lying to save himself from being caught is when he lies about his religion. For example, the author states, Sire, I am a Spaniard, and I bear no allegiance to France (304). This shows that Alejandro lies about his religion and ethnicity so he is not given away. Lying also helps him keep his job as a physician. Benson also states, Alejandro claims he is Alejandro Hernandez, a Spaniard (240). This demonstrates how he lies about being Alejandro Hernandez because his real name might get him ... Do whatever is necessary to see that the safety of the castle is maintained, he said to Alejandro. Then he turned to Isabella and said, I will hear no complaints about this anymore (319). By doing this, he is able to make the king believe him and then he seems credible, also this seems to make him more powerful through the kingdom. Alejandro is tested by the king to see if he is lying about Guy de Chauliac. Perhaps he tests me, Alejandro thought, to see if I will speak truthfully (296). This makes the king believe him more and by him being trustworthy, he is able to keep his job for the king. In general, Alejandro seems to lie to seem like a good and better person. He used his fortune to do things like buying organs for churches, donating to colleges, and building public libraries. Carnegie notably believed in survival of the fittest and that it was necessary for their to be poor people for the sake of the race. One evening, Andy, the banker, decides to bring a gun along with him as he follows his wife and the golf pro. He stops at a couple of bars and proceeds to become inebriated. Andy is clearly a man whom by all means would be considered a respectable person in society and follows the particular norms of that time until he begins to make choices to differentiate himself from the folkways and mores of any expectations regarding the laws that had been established for the purpose of structure, order and conformity. By all accounts we see Andy s character reflecting certain choices of conformity in which he clearly represents behavior and appearance that follows and maintains a particular standard and acceptance of a group. As we learn further in the story we must also consider the factors of behavior that reflects deviance. This behavior challenges the norms. Andy has been convicted of violating the norms of everyday life by murdering his wife and her lover and he is arrested for the murder. Although in Andy s court preceding he pled innocence and expressed to the judge that he had not murdered his wife and her lover, maintaining the story that he had sobered himself up and then ... Throughout the poem, the author s use of diction and rhetorical devices make the mother s message more powerful to the reader. Following the cessation of cardiac and respiratory functions in humans, cell death commences leading to the complete death of the individual. The chemical processes that result from the massive death of cells, such as release of enzymes and digestive fluids, act to begin the decay of the cadaver. Of important note, normal bacteria associated with the human digestive system are no longer held in check by the human immune system and the physical separations between the digestive tract and the other organs. Thus, bacterial action is a critical decay component, and the significance of such action will be investigated shortly. In traditional forensic taphonomic nomenclature, the cadaver progresses from the fresh stage upon death to the bloat stage at the beginning of microbial action (Finley et al. 2015). Upon the onset of insect activity, active decay begins until most consumable matter is removed, leading to the advanced decay stage; dry decay follows when only bone and keratinous tissue remains (Finley et al. 2015). Based upon environmental conditions such as temperature and moisture availability, the time interval for each of these stages and thus the overall decay process from fleshed body to skeleton may vary significantly. Thus, a standard taphonomic analysis of remains may not provide a very accurate indication of PMI; however, other methods used in conjunction can greatly increase accuracy in PMI ... By doing this he would secure 100,000 square feet of space at $26 /sq. ft generating about $2,600,000 in rental income just from Pilgrim. Also with keeping the space as office space, Bailey found that he would be able to fill in two out of the four floors of the atrium adding an additional 10,000 in rentable square footage. This was something that none of the other competitors had noticed. Bailey also noticed that he would be able to renovate all 20 bathrooms within the building but that his renovation would be about 15,000 cheaper than his competitors. Continuing with the renovations, Bailey saw that the atrium would need to be upgraded and instead of it costing him around $200,000, which would be the cost to his competitors, he had the ability to save $50,000 by reusing the marble in the bathrooms as the floor and walls of the atrium. Taking into consideration all of the upgrades and renovations, as well as the fact that Bailey would be able to manage the building at 0.50/ sq ft compared to his competitors which were managing at $1.25/ sq ft, the value at which Bailey would place on keeping the building an office space would be $3,433,649.13 (see ... I believe that colligate athletes should not be paid due to the scholarships available, the yearly college budget, and the decreases in interest in grades. Student athletes have the ability to receive academic, sport scholarships, and many other scholarships. Academic scholarships can range from any amount of paid tuition based on the student s performance throughout high school. • 28. The Merchant Of A Renaissance Merchant Family Renaissance Florence was a very hierarchical society where there were different classes of people and each class had a certain function. One such class was the merchant class. Just like society in general, the merchant class family was structured in a way that gave certain people certain roles. While it is fairly obvious what a man s role was, it is sometimes difficult to discern what exactly a woman s role was in this male dominated society due to varying and oftentimes conflicting accounts. In a Renaissance Florentine merchant family, a woman s official function was to have children, to raise them, and to help arrange their marriages when they came of age. However, it was possible, under the correct circumstances, for a woman to expand her role within the family while still conforming to the patriarchal ideal. In a Renaissance Florentine merchant family, a woman s most important role was to bear and raise children. This is clear in Alberti s On the Family when he states, And for procreating children, let no one doubt that women are necessary. For the child comes into the world tender and weak; he therefore needs someone to take care of him...Thus the woman from earliest times remained in the shadow [of a roof] to nurture and care for the child. For many years, it has been argued that one of the ways in which this can be prevented, is the government intervention. Although, it has been amply mentioned from time to time, by differnet scholars, that governments should not intervene in people s lives, and the government s stepping in is extenuated in just a scant of situations, but sometimes, there isn t an alternative way. Although it may seem irrelevant to Art, consider the case of the Steam Engine, which many believe is invented by James Watt. The truth is this equipment was invented about one hundred years before Mr. Watt even fathomed such an idea; It was a French physician, who first came up with the idea of a steam engine, but the government didn t support him, and as a result, his invention had gone to waste. • 31. Analysis Of Gwen Harwood s Anthology Of Selected Poems The notion that ordinary, everyday experiences encompass universal emotions of both sadness and delight is central to Gwen Harwood s anthology of Selected Poems. This Australian poet often uses her personal journey towards self knowledge and experience of growing up to comment on universal aspects of raw, uncensored life experiences. She aims to convey the idea that motherhood is a difficult experience for many women who resent the way they are forced to abandon their individuality and careers. Harwood also illustrates the sadness in the loss of innocence and regrets in childhood. However, she also reminds the audience of the importance of celebrating the richness and vitality of human life such as the importance and power of women and parenthood. Ultimately the collection also suggests that aspects of both sadness and delight are evident in every human experience. Harwood s works challenge the patriarchal, societal view of motherhood as a role of delight, joy and fulfillment, revealing the hollow façade of meaningless that often comes with domestic suburban roles. She explores the role of women in her contemporary Australian society, criticising and challenging the expectations that women must be restricted to the domestic sphere in this patriarchal society. Harwood s graphic description and evocative imagery conveys the hopelessness of many women. Home of Mercy explores how females are dehumanized as the pregnant, unmarried girls have sinned in the eyes of society and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trading across the continent facilitated the wellbeing of individuals living in Sahel and thus created an intriguing contrast between these states and other nations living in the upper and lower Saharan areas.
