RAF SIMONS X EASTPACK
« Raf Simons Menswear Spring/Summer 2018, inspired by Asia and the
dystopian world of Blade Runner, was presented last July, featuring a unisex
and mostly waterproof wardrobe of waxed parkas printed with artwork
from New Order and Joy Division albums and large hats worn with
matching headscarfs. The show was also dotted with bags from the latest -
and sixth -collaboration between Raf Simons and Eastpak. Models wore
reworked classics, such as the brand’s famous Padded Pak’r bag from our
school days, and backpacks in PVC and translucent colors reminiscent of
the Ridley Scott film. The capsule collection also features industrial-style
weekend bags and backpacks that look like something from a high-tech
building site. The Eastpak x Raf Simons bags are available in multiple colors
and will be on sale from January 27 in Eastpak stores or online. Prices
between €150 and €250. »

ROYAL MAIL X GAME OF
THRONE‘S
« Royal Mail has released a set of stamps featuring 15 depictions of HBO’s
series Game of Thrones. The first class stamps “mark the significant British
contribution to the award winning drama series”. The stamps were
designed by London-based design agency GBH London with digital post
production from Smoke & Mirrors.
Each stamp features photographic representations of the central characters
from the seven seasons of Game of Thrones. In total there are ten stamps
that “embody the crux of each character’s story,” featuring Sansa Stark; Jon
Snow; Eddard Stark; Olenna Tyrell; Tywin Lannister; Tyrion Lannister;
Cersei Lannister; Arya Stark; Jamie Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. In
addition there are five stamps that feature the non-human characters of the
series including: the Night King and White Walkers; Giants; Direwolves;
Dragons and the Iron Throne itself.
The stamps go on sale 23 January alongside an extensive range of products,
souvenirs, limited editions and gifts. »

« The two iconic labels have teamed up on a denim-covered version of the
Air Jordan IV and a reversible, co-branded Levi’s trucker jacket. The classic
basketball sneaker is given the full blue jeans treatment: a standard wash on
the upper and reversed denim on the insole, and it's finished off with a
premium gum outsole. Other details include gold stitching, indigo-colored
laces, and the addition of an instantly recognizable Levi’s tab. For the jacket,
the duo took a similar hoops-meets-Americana approach by mixing classic
Levi’s craftsmanship with the bold red “Flight Suit” material stitched into the
underarm panels. (The Jordan Flight Suit is the colorful sportswear staple

Instagram featuring a sneak peak of the Tommy Hilfiger and Vetements
logos on a hoody for Spring/Summer 2018. We could be seeing the hoody

Back in July 2017, Vetements got the attention of the Internet with an
Instagram post of a hoody carrying the iconic red, white and blue logo of
the American fashion house Tommy Hilfiger, with the logo of the
underground label next to it. Demna Gvasalia’s fashion house has now
revealed the item in full: a unisex hoody emblazoned with the logo of the
two houses, marrying the American preppy spirit of the New York designer
with the Nineties streetwear aesthetic of Vetements. Available in black and
red, this guaranteed sell-out and must-have of the summer is already
available on Mr Porter and Nordstorm. »

« Having last worked together back in May
2017, Weekday and Champion have revealed their latest joint capsule. The
collaboration — the third from the two brands — sees the Swedish retailer
mix ’90s influence with classic pieces from the Champion archive.
The capsule’s color palette sees monochrome pieces alongside hoodies and
sweats in “Cobalt Blue” and “Teal.” As well as featuring staple pieces —
such as Champion-branded long sleeves and hoodies — the collection also
includes popper track pants, quarter zip sweatshirts and a fleece zip-up vest.
The full collection is set to drop at the Weekday web store and physical
locations on January 25, with prices beginning at £30 GBP (approx. $40

GOLF LE FLEUR
« With new GOLF le FLEUR x Converse One Star colorways dropping in a
few days an accompanying apparel capsule has also now surfaced. Featuring
floral T-shirts and hoodies, the collection includes color schemes that match
the sneakers — with “Jade Lime” appearing on both the shoes and on a
hoodie — as well as additional pieces.
The expanded color palette includes “Egret” as well as basic colors like
white and black. Elsewhere, the collection features “Peach Pearl” pieces —
which correspond to the “Geranium Pink” One Stars — and pieces in
“Clearwater Blue” and “Hawaiian Ocean” which correspond to the
“Bachelor Button” blue sneaker colorway.
The apparel capsule is set to drop alongside the sneakers on January 18 at
retailers including Copenhagen’s Naked. Prices range from €40 EUR for a
T-shirt to €100 EUR for the hoodies (approx. $50 USD to $125 USD). In

« Ronnie Fieg and Timberland have reunited once more to continue its
growing relationship. Using Timberland’s signature 40 Below Super Boot
and the 6” Construct, the forthcoming drop marks the third between the
duo.
Within the offering you’ll find two versions of the 40 Below Super boot that
both pay homage to the original edition of the 6” Construct boot. The 10”
boot will be made available in “Distressed Rust Leather” and “Black
Nubuck.” Each iteration is waterproof and fully lined with shearling wool to
provide superior warmth during challenging weather. The collection’s 6”
Construct incorporates navy nubuck to its waterproof upper. Full shearling
lining also makes its way to the interior with a cream colored leather collar
as the final touch.
Dubbed the Ronnie Fieg x Timberland “Chapter 3” Collection, the 40
Below Super boots will retail for $300 USD while the 6” Construct will cost
$250 USD. The offering is set to release on January 20 via KITH’s web
store in addition to all KITH shops, except the Miami location.

« MR PORTER has been releasing some of the best collaborative products
as of late. Just a couple of months ago, they dropped a suiting-focused
capsule collection with Noah. Now, they’re teaming up with Balenciaga
creative director Demna Gvasalia on something unprecedented—a dual
collaboration with MR PORTER and NET-A-PORTER.
“The exclusive collection for NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER creates a
complete wardrobe of Balenciaga styles known from previous seasons,” says
Gvasalia in a statement. “We have redesigned this selection of styles for
women and men in new and special fabrics and dedicated colors.”
It was a good 2017 for Gvasalia and Balenciaga, one that saw their collective
hold of the Internet fashion zeitgeist reinforced on the streets of global
fashion weeks and at the retail level—holding several exclusive retail pop-
ups with shops like the recently shuttered colette and the still-great Dover
Street Market.
Balenciaga and Demna Gvasalia also garnered two editor’s picks from
2017’s Highsnobiety Crowns awards: Most Relevant Brand and Most
Influential Person. On top of that, a recent study showed that Balenciaga is
the hottest brand in the world.
Preceding the collection’s official launch date of January 22 on MR PORTER
and NET-A-PORTER, the accompanying campaign was shot in the London
headquarters of the storied e-commerce platform. Lensman Johnny Dufort
features staff members across both businesses showcasing the wares in a
more corporate setting, aligning with last year’s big trend of redefined office

« The Jordan Brand Levi’s® x Air Jordan 4 just dropped this week and
custom reworks are already hitting the scene. The first to catch our eye is
this bleached version by Instagram user @arab_lincoln, which sees the
original collab design’s indigo denim upper in an almost all-white
interpretation.
Very subtle hints of blue remain throughout the upper to highlight the
denim texture, as well as at the stitching to highlight the AJ4‘s distinct
design. A leather tongue tab, tan stitching and classic gum sole round out a
clean colorway with some soft color contrast.

« Acclaimed tattoo artist Dr. Woo recently teamed up with Converse on
two unique takes of the perennial Chuck Taylor All Star 1970 model.
Both pairs arrive in distinct tonal black and white options alongside intricate
embroidery inspired by Mary Howitt’s classic poem, The Spider and the Fly.
The key Dr. Woo says, is to wear them “til they are destroyed. The story
gets personal as the spider embroidery gets rough, ripped and fuzzy. Then,
it becomes a story of you, and the shoe,” explained the artist to Converse.

« New York designer and friend to Virgil Abloh, Heron Preston presented
his Public Figure collection during Paris Menswear Fashion Week
Fall/Winter 2018-2019. The collection explores celebrity in all its forms in
the digital age, which translated into street-inspired pieces including animal-
print puffers and joggers printed with Cyrillic writing meaning “fashion”. The
label’s special collaboration with NASA and the skate label Carhartt were
highlights and as part of his work with the American space agency, the
designer reinterpreted the iconic spacesuit worn by Bruce McCandless and
Neil Armstrong. In perfect imitation, the outfit sported the same American
flags and NASA logos as the original suits used between 1975 and 1992.
They even had jet pack-style backpacks, belt bags and totes symbolic of the
agency’s space conquests. The Carhartt collaboration is more relaxed, with
leather jackets, camouflage boots and Matrix-esque sunglasses. The Heron
Preston Fall/Winter 2018-2019 collection will be available in stores from
October 2018. »

« Japanese branches of workwear labels are teaming up to celebrate E.T. the
Extra-Terrestrial‘s 35th anniversary: first Carhartt & Ciaopanic teamed
up for a plush, now Dickies introduces a collaborative capsule collection.
The assortment encompasses a range of shirts and sweaters, featuring
monochrome clothing, allowing the co-branding to take center stage. A full-
color print of E.T. with a phone appears throughout the collection, and the
film’s logo accents the front and rear of several items. On the rear of two
monochrome long-sleeves is a cut-out print featuring Elliot with E.T. in the
front basket of his bicycle, silhouetted against the moon. The entire range is

« Japanese liquor retailer Shinanoya has released a special edition whiskey to
commemorate the 30th anniversary of the hit JRPG series Final Fantasy.
Produced by renowned Scottish distillery Glenfarclas, the label features
iconic Final Fantasy imagery, included appearances of Chocobos, crystals, a
hidden Moogle, and a special typography created by original series character
designer Yoshitaka Amano.
It was originally distilled in 1987, the same year as the Japanese release of
the first Final Fantasy installment. Limited to only 303 700-milliliter bottles,

The show was also dotted with bags from the latest - and sixth -collaboration between Raf Simons and Eastpak. Models wore reworked classics, such as the brand’s famous Padded Pak’r bag from our school days, and backpacks in PVC and translucent colors reminiscent of the Ridley Scott film. The capsule collection also features industrial-style weekend bags and backpacks that look like something from a high-tech building site. The first class stamps “mark the significant British contribution to the award winning drama series”. The stamps were designed by London-based design agency GBH London with digital post production from Smoke & Mirrors. Each stamp features photographic representations of the central characters from the seven seasons of Game of Thrones. In total there are ten stamps that “embody the crux of each character’s story,” featuring Sansa Stark; Jon Snow; Eddard Stark; Olenna Tyrell; Tywin Lannister; Tyrion Lannister; Cersei Lannister; Arya Stark; Jamie Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. In addition there are five stamps that feature the non-human characters of the series including: the Night King and White Walkers; Giants; Direwolves; Dragons and the Iron Throne itself.
