Teen Pregnancy Essay
Pregnancies are a wonderful thing. Just imagine being able to create another human being and
bringing it into the world. Although this may be what the majority of mothers think, teen moms
may have a different perspective. They might have been forced into pregnancy and the child may
be a reoccurring thought of what happened to her. Chances are the teen will love her baby in the
long run, but in the beginning the teen most likely had different views. Teen pregnancyis a
worldwide problem that needs to be educated properly. The reason why most teen pregnancies
occur because teens aren t educated enough. Granted they might become curious or they don t care,
but they at least need to be properly educated on the matter and know exactly what they... Show

Generally when a teen has a baby, society tends to make her seem like a monster, and that
whatever happened to cause this. She gets shunned and pushed into a dark place where she may
not be capable to provide the best care for herself or her baby. The duo may be ignored by their
family and friends, causing them to feel very isolated and alone, which could potentially lead to
things such as insanity, other mental health issues, or the worst case possible, death.
Unfortunately, if the teen gets to the point where she feels like there s no other option, she will
most likely turn to drugs and alcohol, making her situation even worse for herself and those
around her. If drugs or alcohol were involved before the teen knew she became pregnant, medical
complications to her or the baby are very likely. The teen has to stop drinking, or doing any type
of drugs immediately if she wants to keep her and her baby safe. If the mother gets hurt in anyway
while she is pregnant, she can potentially hurt and/or kill her baby. Birth deformities are common
in mothers who choose to not have a healthy lifestyle. Teen moms are more likely to have their
babies born early, have miscarriages, and underweight babies. This will lead to the need of more
medical attention, which leads to more money. If the teen mother does not have any help from
parents, family, or friends, she will most likely not be able to pay for it and could cause harmful
things to occur to her

Thesis Statement On Diversity And Diversity
INTRODUCTION Jopwell is a recruiting firm which connects the minority job candidates with
the Tech companies in Silicon Valley. The main issue faced by the Tech companies is that the
referral candidates are not serving the purpose and they can t find talented minority candidates
suitable to their companies. The companies are aware of the benefits like increased financial
returns by having diversity in their workforce. Jopwell is currently serving 45 companies by
providing them a pool of thousands of talented minority candidates and has been successful in
placing a significant number of candidates in these companies. The company is focussing on

The way in which an organization tackles diversity determines its negative or positive outcome. All
the 5 companies agreed that diversity has contributed to their success. Some barriers were identified
in managing diversity like the difficulties faced by women in managing the work and family, fear of
discrimination, resistance to change, diversity is not seen as an organizational priority, resistance to
change and unsupportive working environment for diverse employees. Diversity contributes to
more productivity but if not properly managed could hinder success. Research 3 [3] Objective of
research: Why diversity matters? Coverage Area: 366 public companies in Canada, UK, Latin
America and USA Findings and Conclusion: This research shows that women are still
unrepresented in top management globally. The difference in performance of the companies in the
same country and same industry implies that diversity serves a competitive differentiator. Certain
companies focus on gender diversity and others focus on ethnic and racial diversity but no company
in the top quartile focus on both. Companies which have greater diversity are able to attract top
talent, improve internal and external customer satisfaction, improve decision making and hence

Discrimination Against Hispanics
Discrimination against Hispanics
I chose this topic because it s very interesting. I think that we all know that discriminating
someone by their religion, color or nationality is illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act of
1964, its illegal to against a person based on his/her color, religion, sex, disability, and national
origin. But this doesn t mean its all over and the problem is solved, it may reduce the discrimination
but not enough to eliminate it. Discrimination in the work, purposely or accidentally, not just harms
the workers work knowledge, but it exposes the company to a lawsuit for violating the laws that
defend races and groups. Discrimination against the smaller groups, based on color, race, ethnicity
or other groupings, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I may be wrong but that s just how I am seeing it from my point of view. Not all my co workers
treat me like that, just some of them. I keep reminding me that I m working at a restaurant right
now because I need the money, not to make any friends. A lot of people feel the same way and
they prefer not to say anything. Right now, I m currently working there and I m thinking about
quitting but it s not that easy, I got some bills to pay and looking for another job is hard. How am
I still working there? I remind me every day that my goal of becoming a surgeon is what motivates
me and go to work. According to the census and other case studies, Hispanics and Latinos are the
second greatest discriminated ethnic group in the U.S. next to African Americans. The United States
Census Bureau Current Population Survey testified that Hispanics is the race, which is most
discriminated against the terms of housing.
Giving to the census report, more than 20% of the Hispanic women below the age of 18 live under
the poverty level. Also, 22% of the Hispanic workers have experienced discrimination in their work,
compared to whites with just 6%. Hispanics workers suffering workplace discrimination suffer

The Golden Mean in Anatomy
The Golden Mean in Anatomy The Golden Mean is a mysterious number that has been found in
plants, humans, art and even architecture. It was first discovered and studied by ancient
mathematicians in Egypt a very long time ago. In the study of mathematics one realizes that many
patterns often occur. None have been more relevant or fascinating that the golden ratio. The golden
ratio has many names and is often referred to as the golden section, golden mean, golden proportion
and golden cut. The golden mean has been studied and taught for centuries and is still the most
interesting and fascinating things to study. The golden ratio has inspired thinkers like no other
component in mathematics.
While studying the golden mean it becomes evident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ratio gives someone wanting to re create the human features a very accurate way to measure
the size and distances needed between parts of the body. It is incredible to see the relation and
impact mathematics has on everything in the world. Many famous pieces of art that depict humans
have been known to use the golden ratio in their creations. Leonardo de Vinci used the human body
proportioned according to the golden ratio when producing such incredible works such as Mona
Lisa, and The Last Supper.
The Golden Mean and Christianity
When studying the golden ratio it is evident that there is symmetry in the entire universe. When
studying this subject from a Christian world view it is very easy to see the act of god in the
creation of it all. Everything in nature is fixated around this magical number and this is described
as Gods fingerprints upon nature. When looking at nature using the sequence it is evident that there
is a mathematically precise correlation in the world. This correlation can be seen every day when
looking at nature, humans and even astronomy. This to many is proof of a creator.
The argument against Christianity is that everything in the universe happened by a random chance.
If this was true and the world was created by an absolute random occurrence then why would this
number and sequence occur in almost everything on earth? This sequence is the answer and
rebuttal to an atheist s

Volkswagen Commercial Essay
When Star Wars, Volkswagen, and Advertisement Industry Unite The visual claim being
responded to is called The Force: Volkswagen Commercial. In the popular commercial from the
2011 Super Bowl, a child dressed up as Darth Vader is shown attempting to use the force on
different things around his home. None of the items react which makes him sad. When his father
pulls up in the drive way in a Volkswagen Passat the boy ecstatically runs outside and attempts to
use the force on the car. With the click of a button on the keychain the father turns the car on and
makes his son think he used the force to turn on the car. When I first saw the commercial it made

Now before it was mentioned that a strength the commercial had was the fact that it was aired
during the 2011 Super Bowl but at the same time tat was also a weakness. Now the commercials
during the Super Bowl get a lot of popularity but they do not get much screen time for 2 major
reasons. The first being it costs millions of dollars to get a commercial to air during the Super
Bowl and second, many other companies want to get a commercial to air also so the time has to
be split evenly. Little screen time means sacrificing vital information for the commercial. In
other words, the commercial was good at making itself memorable and fun to watch but it did
not display many features or specifications about the car that are important when someone is in
the market to buy a car. The only feature Volkswagen showed was the fact that you could click a
button on your keychain to turn the car on. That feature is not important when it comes to the
safety of the vehicle or how many miles to the gallon the car has. If people did not care about the
specifications then there would be no competition in the car industry other than to make a car as
fancy looking as possible. Another weakness the commercial displayed was not giving a good
price point for the car. The commercial said prices starting at $20,000, which to begin is a bit
high to begin at for a 4 door sedan. Also, what would make the price higher? This brings viewers
back to the specifics of the car that the commercial doesn t tell

This past weekend witnessed a trifecta of momentous anniversaries. Katrina happened 5 years ago,
Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his I Have a Dream Speech on the Washington Mall 47 years
ago, and Mother Teresawas born a century ago.
Monday: Katrina; Tuesday: I Have a Dream; Today: Mother Teresa
After spending a great deal of time on and devoting a good deal of space to the two previous
subjects in this series on recent anniversaries, 2005 s devastating Hurricane Katrina and the world
changing 1963 I Have a Dream speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I had looked forward to
writing an innocuous, little piece on one of the two saints I have ever known.
Pope John Paul II was one, Mother Teresa was the other.
Not that I personally met with either the pope or the Catholic nun Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, later to
be known as Mother Teresa, but I felt that a few words commemorating the anniversary of her birth
in Shkoder, Albania on August 26th, 1910 were in order.
Agnes middle name, Gonxha, meaning Rosebud, may be somewhat difficult to pronounce in

Stereotypes And Misconceptions Of The World
Don t Judge People If everyone in the world got along then there wouldn t be no drama or hating
whatsoever and quite frankly that seems like a boring world to live in. That s why there needs to
be hate in the world to keep things live and not dull like a utopia. Stereotypes and misconceptions fit
the mold of making the world a funnier and hateful place. These two terms are based upon making
assumptions about certain types of people, religion and races, basically anything that makes a
person different than another. These are defense mechanisms so people can protect themselves with
harmful words from things that they don t understand. Many cartoon shows known as anime
originated in Japan and have become really popular in the United... Show more content on

A well known example of a stereotype is that anybody that wears glasses is automatically smart.
Which can be believed since it s glorified in movies and t.v shows. Whether these beliefs about
the group characteristics are true or not they still influence the way people think. Which leads to
social categorization and therefore people can tell someone s role of just being part of a group.
On the same note, misconceptions which go hand and hand with stereotypes can also
manipulate one s perception about a group of people. For the same faulty reason misconceptions
occur when a false opinion about a group are formed based on untruths, which are usually
assumptions. It s a view that is incorrect and is usually hard to find, since it comes from no truth.
An example of controversial misconception is that playing video games can make a person
violent. In an online article by Inez Dawoodjee states some examples such as That all people that
live in Africa live in Huts Which can be believed since many people have never visited Africa and
only hear lies. It s easy to confuse these too with discrimination or prejudice since today s society
gets easily offended, but in reality the terms should not be confused since the are completely
different. Discrimination is when people get treated different and prejudice occurs when

The Legacy of Mountain Man Brewing Firm
Mountain Man Brewing Firm was an autonomous, relations owned brewery that produced the
Mountain Man Lager, a beer recognized for its authenticity, quality and toughness. It had a
distinctive rancid taste, somewhat higher than average alcohol content and was believed a forceful
working man s beer. It was rated the Best beerin West Virginia for 8 straight years. It was
additionally rated as the Best beer in Indiana , America s championship lager , Best recognized
local beer and the West Virginia beer . Scutiny had shown that the Brewery was as recognizable
brand amid working class males as Chevrolet or John Deere and this was the cornerstone of the
brand s accomplishment alongside blue collar customers. Brand frolicked a critical act in beer
buying decision. Mountain Man was a legacy brew in a mature market. It relied on its past and rank
as an autonomous, relations owned brewery to craft an aura of authenticity.
The contest in the beer marketplace dropped in four disparate categories. Main and second tier
internal producers, import beer firms, and specialty brewers. The Main internal producers like
Anheuser Busch, Miller Brewing Firm and Adolf Coors Company, accounted for 74% of the
marketplace in Massif Man s region. The subsequent tier internal producers had 12.5% allocate,
import beer firms had a 12% allocate and the craft beer industry owned the rest. Massif Man
Brewers were a subsequent tier company.

importance of healthier eating behaviors.
Recorded Intake of Protein, Carbohydrates, and Lipids
According to the spreadsheet of foods that were recorded in the three day intake I Profile, many
of the foods listed provided an overlap of protein, carbohydrates and lipids. The foods recorded
that provided the majority intake of protein were Eggs, Chicken, Turkey ham, Cheese, Breakfast

If protein deficiency is continued, this could lead to muscle deterioration, digestive problems and
severe weight loss. Eating too few carbohydrates can cause the body to find another source for
energy, such as protein which is needed for energy and muscle tissue. Additionally, carbohydrates
are the primary source for glucose that is needed for the brain to function properly. Consuming to
few lipids does not provide the necessary energy needed for the body, which decrease metabolism
and hormone production.
Fiber Intake Ranges
The fiber intakes meet the recommendation calculated by I Profile. Since the recommendation
was met, I believe that the fiber intake was just right. However, I do not believe that my diet met
the minimum number of servings of food from each of the fiber containing groups. I believe that
the both groups for fruits and vegetables fell short of the minimum number of servings. The
specific foods that provided the most fiber were pasta, and a bagel. Whereas, the foods that
provided the least were the BBQ chips, Croissant, sausage. It appears that the trend in my food
choices is that there are not enough fruits and vegetables, which affects my fiber intake.
Dietary Modifications
The identifiable patterns are that there is not enough consumption of balanced food choices, not
eating regularly and that processed food is selected more often.

The Negative Effects Of Homework On Students In Elementary...
The Effects of Homework In almost all schools, teachers assign homework assignments to students
starting in elementary school. When students begin to grow older and are faced with more
challenging classes in junior high and high school, the workload begins to pile up. Students are
now becoming more stressed and have anxietybecause of the amount of work that is placed on
them which is even taking a toll on their family life. Many students end up completing the
assignment in order to just get credit for it without a regard for learning. But over the years,
homeworkhas begun to lose its purpose. Instead of the students focusing on only completing their
homework in order to get good grades, they should be more focused on learning the material that
they are studying. Without truly understanding the material in the classes that students might be
taking, school is essentially a waste of time. The effects of mass quantities of schoolwork on
students that are given by teachers leads students to underperform in school due to the mental stress
and anxiety.
As students begin to move onto other levels of school starting in elementary, they begin to see an
increase in the amount of work they are given. In elementary school, students start to face the
problem of excessive amounts of homework, and this is a problem that has been frequently talked
in the past. Debates over whether or not students should have homework started back in the 19th
century. During this time, most high schools

Analysis Of J. Cole s The Album 2014 Forest Hill Drive...
J. Cole released his album 2014 Forest Hill Drive on December 9, 2014 without any features,
media marketing, or promotions (Berry). This album became significant within the music
industry because of how far it strays from the lyrical composition of popular rap artists of today.
Majority of rap artists in the 2000 s rely heavily on commercial producers and multiple artist
features to promote the popularity of their album. Rappers often do not stray far from crude,
sexual and misogynistic lyrics just to gain fame and cash flow for their label. As a hip hop artist,
J. Cole manages to gain more success than any rap album with no features. J. Cole writes an
honest, and nostalgic album that speaks further into his thoughts on current social issues and his
personal life story. He shines a light on his insecurities and gets his audience to feel a special
connection with him as an artist. J. Cole managed to create the only album in rap and hip hop
history to go platinum without any features while transcending development of pop culture within
the rap industry. Hip Hop developed as an urban underground movement during the 1970 s in South
Bronx, New York and when this subculture first surfaced, the terms hip hop and rap music were
used interchangeably (Ralph). Since the beginning of the genres, majority of music enthusiasts felt
more connected to rap, and it gained commercial popularity more rapidly. Hip hop remained

The World s Largest Hot Dry Land Desert
At about 3.6 million square mile, the Sahara Desert, located across North Africa, is the world s
largest hot dry land desert. It was not until the early 1960 s that the impact of the dry land
received attention. Known as the Sahel, the region was previously known for its wet arable land.
Present day, the Sahel has taken the form of a semi arid dry land that expands over eleven African
states: Egypt, Mauritania, Mali, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Niger, Tunisia, Morocco, and Western
Sahara. Desertification, or arable land degradation, has occurred in the Sahel over the past ten
thousand years, dating back to the ice age. During the Pre Classical era many ancient civilizations
found home at the Nile River Valley. Plentiful monsoon rains permeated the Sahel, but water on the
surface of the Sahel has decreased significantly as desertification has inversely increased, leaving
only unreachable underground water reservoirs. Stress is put on the Sahel region from services:
agriculture, forage, energy, raw materials, etc. Gradually over time the carbon build up in the
atmosphere has caused increased water vapor instead of it being recycled into rainwater. Without
rain water plants, or autotrophs, cannot perform adequate photosynthesisand carbon fixation, thus
carbon build up continues to occur further trapping carbon in the atmosphere and increasing global
climate.

Anselm s Ontological Argument
St. Anselm s Ontological Argument has remained one of the most widely known arguments for a
Christian God, as well as simply probably the most famous logical proof of all time, since its
inception in the late 11th century. The economical proof uses deductive logic starting from basic
given premises to lead the reader to what is meant to be the inevitable conclusion that God must,
necessarily, exist. The argument s polished simplicity is both a point in favor and a problem,
however, for it provides little explanation for its premises beyond what is to be assumed within the
tight structural framework of Christian thought beneath which all medieval philosophy operated.
Anselm s proof is a clever piece of logic, and an important one, but its... Show more content on

To compare and switch freely between these two types of being feels like a conflation, a
categorical mistake. Possibility and impossibility are of a very different class of qualities than
actuality versus non actuality. Saying that the sandwich one daydreamed about having for lunch
would have been better if it had existed looks like a very strange claim; how can it be valid to
ascribe the negative presence of reality qualities to a being which consists only of understanding
qualities? The two types of existence are incomparable: to say something exists in the mind and to
say something exists in reality is to be discussing two very different types of existence, for which
we unfortunately have but one word. In the proof, Anselm is possibly relying two slightly
different definitions of possible by conflating these two different types of being/existence: God
could not have been greater than he is in the understanding. This is a difficult point to grapple
with, as Anselm s wording is too slippery to provide much of foothold, but nevertheless the
presence of an issue of language and the need for clarification and distinction is

The Dangers Of Social Pressure
The Dangers of Relenting to Social Pressure
From early childhood to adulthood, the urge to submit to social pressure is a reality that shapes
everyone on a daily basis. The desire to meet societal expectations is a factor that greatly impacts
decision making from fashion sense, to choosing friends, and to making the right choices in the
work force. Many times, this desire for acceptance repudiates one s beliefs and innate senses. In
Opinions and Social Pressure by Solomon Asch, and Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, the
two psychologists conduct a series of experiments to observe how the influence of social pressure
leads to conformity and obedience to authority. Both experiments demonstrate the adverse effects
of social pressure, for conformity involves a sacrifice of self interests, while blind obedience to
authority results in the harm of others. According to the results of the experiments, social pressure
is a force that can cause people to act outside of their personal convictions and moral conscience.
In Asch s experiment, he gathers a group of seven to nine male college students, to participate in a
psychological experiment in visual judgment experiment in order to observe the time it would take
for a subject to yield to social pressure (Asch 9). The group is told match the length of a line in
comparison to three other lines of differing lengths. Unbeknownst to the subject, the other members
of the group were instructed by the experimenter to beforehand

Universal Truth Of Conflict In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Conflict plays a large role in our daily lives. In William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet
there are five universal truths. These truths are conflict, love, communication, timing, and
reputation. Conflict is the most important truth focused on in Romeo and Juliet. Act three
emphasizes conflict more so than any of the other acts. Shakespeare conveyed the truth of
conflict in Romeo and Juliet to reveal the impact conflict has in daily life. The role conflict plays
in daily life is revealed through Mercutio being killed, Tybalt being killed in retribution, and the
essay by Romeo and Juliet has a central focus on conflict. The whole play is centered around two
feuding families in the city of Verona. These families are feuding due to each one... Show more

The Thematic Framework of Romeo and Juliet then focuses on the various aspects about that
complexity, including conflict. Complexity, however, does not lead to conflict. Complexity is
conflict. Without conflict, nothing would be complex because complexity requires different
options that are not easily chosen between, or other types of problems. Bowling wrote, This theme
often comes out in the form of paradox, since the characters are constantly being shocked and
surprised that one quality of a thing is often in sharp disagreement with some other quality
(Bowling). Bowling agrees with the analysis of Romeo and Juliet having a central focus on conflict.
Throughout the play there are conflicting meanings often confuse the reader as well as the
characters. These paradoxes are included to show the profound effect of conflict within
communication. Without conflict, which is a disagreement between people or options, there would
be no complexity. The Thematic Framework of Romeo and Juliet continues to focus on the
complexity of the word choice in Romeo and Juliet. There are conflicting meanings within Romeo
and Juliet that lead to confusion between characters, leading to the overall conflict between the
Montagues and Capulets. Conflict is this shown to act as a catalyst in daily life through these

integral part in the formation of science; this integrated unit is what greatly affects most of the

aim is to replace the activity of a defective gene by activating a dormant gene which has a similar
function (Wheale McNally, 212). Under gene therapy comes the politically controversial Human
Genome Project, a fifteen year, $3 billion federally funded biology program. The goal of the
project is to isolate the defective gene on the chromosomes which comprise the human genome
(Fletcher, 2). In this manner, the Human Genome Project may be able to rid the cancer ridden
genes from human DNA, thereby curing cancer permanently. The project has been the focus of
much scientific and political controversy over the past few years for its possible ramifications are
extensive to all of human existence.
Finally, genetic reductionism is the tendency to stigmatize, ostracize or eliminate individuals or
groups not meeting a genetic norm (Butler, 369). Reductionism is the biggest threat to genome
research and is the most explosive of the three genetic science discussed (gene engineering, therapy,
and reductionism). Certain term such as defective, faulty, advantage, and genetic norm plague the
scientific discussion, thereby causing the very study of genetic manipulation to be political and
controversial.

Identifying The Search For An Keyword Search Tool
A.Email messages A forensic accountant could use a few different techniques to assist in
reducing the volume of email messages he or she has to examine. One technique they could
utilize is using a keyword search. This is probably the easiest to implement in searching for
specific emails. Keyword search tools generally come in two types, indexed or not indexed. An
indexed keyword search tool depends on the index that it created in order to actually locate
documents having the specific search terms. A non indexed keyword search scans through the
document with each search iteration to determine whether the specific term exists. They keyword
search will accurately find documents within the search criteria, however the documents may not
have any relevance to what the forensic accountant is actually looking for. Therefore, the forensic
accountant wants to be sure he or she is utilizing specific key words to find the evidence he or she
is looking for. Another method is context search. The context search adds context to the search
criteria. Context search helps improve the keyword search solution by addressing the problems
present in keyword searches related to synonymy and polysemy. Synonymy is a common linguistic
issue where different words are used to express the same concept, and polysemy is where the same
word can have different meanings (Fordham, 2013). The context search method combines several
advance techniques in a simple user interface, making searches

Advantages Of Superior Singing Method
Think you can t sing? Believe it or not, this is one of the most common misconceptions we have
about ourselves. While it s correct that some people have been blessed with the golden voice, the
simple truth is that anyone can learn to sing better than they do now. When it comes down to it,
using your voice is just like using any other instrument. For example, have you ever tried playing a
violin without any violin lessons beforehand? The resulting screeching sound would probably have
you think you re not cut out for playing the violin, but the truth is that you just don t have the
necessary skills yet. Singingis just like that you need to put in the hours in order to get better.
That said, learning to sing properly is not something that can be picked up easily. If you re not
taking the correct singing lessons, you ll probably just end up straining your vocal chords with
little to no benefits to show for it. That s why I wanted to talk you through an interesting singing
method that should help you improve your singing ability in a reasonable period of time. It s called
the Superior Singing Method, and it s tremendously effective at what it sets out to do.
How Does It Work?

The Legal Consent Of Gestational Surrogacy
In this Brief, the petitioner Julie Williams will be referred to as Julie, Appellant. Respondent
Jessie Sampson will be referred to as Jessie, Appellee.
ARGUMENT ON APPEAL
This court should answer the question Does the court have the right to allow Jessie Williams to
keep her daughter despite her earlier contract of surrogacy ? Based on the legal binding gestational
surrogacy contract.
The Merits
At issue in this petition is whether the determination by the trial court, should the child be turned
over to Julie Williams. In light, of this judgement solely based on prior gestational agreement forms,
Julie Williams is requesting that the decision be overturned and the surrogate turn over the child.
Currently there are several federal statutes governing the disposition of gestational surrogacy.
There is Florida Statutes 742.14 Part One, which states prior to engaging in gestational surrogacy,
binding and enforceable gestational surrogacy contract for gestational surrogacy shall not be
binding and enforceable unless the gestational surrogate is 18 years of age or older. Except as
provided the gestational surrogate agrees to relinquish any parental right upon the child s birth,
regardless of any impairment of the child. In addition, the gestational surrogate also agrees to
assume parental rights and responsibilities for the child born to her if it is determined that neither
member of the commissioning couple is the genetic parent of the child.

Knight s Role In Warfare During The Middle Ages
A knight s role and the impact heavy cavalry had on warfare have greatly varied throughout the
period of the Middle Ages. Although knight s dominated the battlefield and had a huge cultural
value in society you cannot ignore the impact that technology has had on their role. These
technological advances such as the longbow, the introduction of light cavalry and developments
such as gunpowder and artillery, the tactical developments such as sieges and the general
organisation surrounding warfare resulted in knights declining in social value, status and
affectability as well as a more dramatic yet gradual metamorphosis into the heavily armoured tank
divisions in today s modern armies.
It has always been a greatly contested debate as to when the Middle ... Show more content on

This is demonstrated mainly by the speed and manoeuvrability riding on horseback provided.
Speed could be converted into shock as the enemy if unaware of a knight s potential power ground
could be covered quickly before the enemy had a chance to provide a defence mechanism and
would have no option to surrender. This however was only evident in the early Middle Ages,
showing that heavy cavalry would not be the most dominant force throughout the entirety of the
Middle Ages. However this speed and manoeuvrability did not always result in the knight being the
dominant figure. The knight may have been dominant in the West where the terrain was favourable
and the heat moderate but when traveling to Jerusalem for the crusades they were less well suited
to endurance in a hot climate and clumsy and unmanoeuvrable making them ineffective and
vulnerable to the enemy. This shows how even though they may dominant warfare in Western
Europe they were too heavy to cover ground effectively and not as moveable as the lighter eastern
cavalry, which weighed approximately 700 to 900lbs to the Western 1,200 to

O Pioneers By Willa Cather Analysis
O Pioneers!: The Land and the American Dream It seems that everything in Willa Cather s O
Pioneers!, aside from the land, starts out so full of life and ends so utterly devoid of it. It could
even be said that the characters in the novel become imprisoned by their own lives. Marie is
barred by her love, which, in the end, leaves her quite literally lifeless. Alexandra, who initially is
so full of life, begins to view her life as unimportant and as a prisonhouse. Even the spirituality of
the pioneers is ever declining and dying away. Ultimately it is Frank who embodies the idea most
obviously; in his youth Frank lives the life of a happy, handsome man, yet his life ends in utter
despondence and literal imprisonment. How is it that all of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Alexandra puts her entire life into the land. In fact, Alexandra seems to exemplify the land itself.
She epitomizes the American Dream and everything it stands for. She takes a raw piece of
Nebraskan soil and works it until it becomes bountiful and she becomes wealthy and seemingly
successful. In all of her success in achieving the American Dream, very little is said about
Alexandra s own hopes and dreams. Though Alexandra is the only one to have achieved
anything close to the American Dream, she is the only character to become completely
downhearted. In the novel it is written that she was actually tired of life (112) and that what was
left of life seemed so unimportant (113). She also relates life to a poem she loved as a girl, and
the poem reads as follows: Hence Forth the world will only be/A wider prison house to
me...(118). Regardless of the fact that Alexandra signifies everything that is the American Dream,
she is still unhappy with and imprisoned by life. It is not until she indulges in her own dream, the
companionship of Carl Linstrum that she begins to see life in an optimistic light. Another element
soiled by the standards of America is the spirituality of the pioneers. The best example of this is
illustrated in the novel s character Ivar. While the church itself rejects Ivar and most of Hanover
wants to send him to an asylum, he is probably one of the most spiritual people in the entire prairie.

Hence, the threat of substitutes and rivalry among the existing competitors would be the major
forces that shaped the part of competitiveness of Perform 2020 Plan. First of all, as Porter (2008)
defined that substitute performs the same or similar function as an industry s product or service by
a different means. For instance, one of the substitutes for the European airline industry would be
the Eurostar Railway. For example, a passenger who wants to travel to Paris by 23rd November
2015 the cheapest ticket he/she could purchase will be from the Eurostar (standard class) and it
only costs 146 pounds from start. And the starting price for Air France (economy class) will be
261 pounds. Meanwhile, KLM (economy class) starts from 250 pounds. On the other hand, the
timing for airlines does not have many advantages as well. Eurostar needs about 2 hours and16
minutes, Air France costs almost 1hour and 25 minutes and KLM needs about the same duration
with Air France as if it is directly flight to Paris and if there is a flight transferring the duration
could be 3 hours and 50 minutes mostly as their official websites showing. However, Porter (2008)
discussed that the substitutes are easy to overlook because they may appear to be different

Essay about Native Sovereignty
July 11th 1990, marked the beginning date of the Oka Crisis in Quebec Canada. It lasted until
September 26th 1990 resulting in one fatality of a local police officer. The violent clash was
triggered by something as simple as a golf course extension and as complicated as native burial
traditions. It had drawn world attention, catapulting native land rights into the mix. The Oka Crisis
is just one of many conflicts between the Aboriginals and the Canadian government. A major issue
that has been of much debate in the 20th century has been Native sovereignty. The demand sounds
simple, allow Aboriginals of Canadato govern themselves; however, coexisting with the Canadian
government makes this idea extremely complicated. Roger Townshend states... Show more content

Townshend describes how Aboriginals view the Canadian government as a foreign government.
Furthermore, Townshend disputes the process of assimilation, integrating Aboriginals to the
modern Canadian society. The solution is to create a third tier government that would work in
cohesion with the Federal and Provincial levels. Different levels of government and the ...sharing of
jurisdictional powers between government institutions is already part of the essence of the
Canadian state, (Townshend 39). If Canada is able to increase globalization and trade agreements
on an international level, than Canada should not be so unwilling to share jurisdiction with an
Aboriginal government.
Thomas Flanagan disapproves the idea of Native sovereignty ever coexisting with Canadian
sovereignty. Flanagan identifies the flaws in Townshend s arguments referring to them as a
theoretical approach and not a practical approach. It is true that the sharing of jurisdictional
power is the essence of the Canadian state but this cannot apply to the Aboriginals of Canada.
One reason a third level of government cannot work in Canada is In the 10 provinces, Canada has
over six hundred Indian bands living on more than 2200 reserves, plus hundreds of thousands of
MГ©tis and non status Indians who do not possess reserves, (Flanagan 44). Flanagan draws the

The Importance Of The Internet Speech
In the majority of expression cases, educators have challenged reprisals for their speech outside the
classroom including their Internet speech. During the 1970s and early 1980s, courts relied on the
Pickering guidelines in striking down a variety of restrictions on teachers rights to express views on
matters of public concern. Since the early 1980s, however, courts have seemed increasingly
inclined to view teachers and other public employees expression as relating to private employment
disputes rather than to matters of public concern. Many courts relied on Connick in broadly
interpreting what falls under the category of unprotected private grievances. To illustrate, courts
considered the following types of expression to be unprotected: discussing salaries during a break;
filing a grievance about being assigned a job sharing teaching position; accusing the superintendent
of inciting student disturbances; sending sarcastic, critical memoranda to school officials;
protesting unfavorable performance evaluations; and commenting about class size and lack of
discipline. Yet, when courts have applied the Pickering balancing test, they often distinguished
whether disruption to school operations was truly caused by the employee s speech versus the
impermissible heckler s veto that is, courts have analyzed whether the disruption was caused by
outsiders attempting to silence the speech instead of the speech itself. A New York school district

Shield review knows that a home appliance warranty can be very beneficial. The benefits of
tankless water heaters are numerous. Below are some of the reasons more people are opting to
switch to a tankless water heater:
The Lifespan
Many people who have written an American Home Shield review have noticed that their water
heater has only lasted for eight to 12 years. However, a tankless water heater can potentially last
much longer than that. In fact, your tankless water heater may last over 20 years. The key to

Tankless water heaters only use a fraction of the energy that traditional water heaters use. While
traditional water heaters will store water inside of the tank, tankless water heaters will only use
water when needed. This is why tankless water heaters do not have to use as much energy.
Keep in mind that you will be paying more initially for your hot water heater. However, the money
that you save with your hot water heater will make it a worthwhile investment. You may be able to
cut your energy costs by 30 percent each year.
Save Space
Many people who live in smaller homes have opted to switch to tankless water heaters. They take
up significantly less space than traditional water heaters. In fact, the average tankless water heater
is only 1/4 of the size of a regular water heater. You will have more floor or closet space.
You Will Have Cleaner Water
Traditional water heaters are prone to scale and rust. This rust can end up in the water that you use
to drink and bathe. On the other hand, you will be able to have cleaner water if you have a
tankless water heater.

He assumes that it will explain the metaphysical explanatory gap where the phenomenal concept

One creation story says that long ago, two gods named Izanagi and Izanami were commanded
by the primal gods to make and solidify the land of Japan. The two gods then threw a spear into

built a palace and married each other. Over time, Izanami gave birth to the islands of Japan and
many deities, but she died giving birth to her last one, who was a fire god. Angry, Izanagi
beheaded his son and followed Izanami to Yomi, the Land of the Dead, urging her to return back

Erving Goffman s Dramaturgical Theory
Abstract
With the development of modern technologies, millions of individuals are constantly connected
with the digital world, where some individuals may correlate social media platforms as real life.
However, it is reasonable to state that due to the vulnerability of teenagers and their difficult
transformations, both mentally and physically, social media could have various influences on
teenagers, that including low self esteem. Erving Goffman s dramaturgical theory can help explain
how one s identity development is framed while on these social sites as well as while offline.
Using collected data, qualitative methods have shown that such things like surveys that are
randomly sampled can help approach this link between social media and an individual s sense of self
. Although there were no significant relations identified, results indicate that social media platforms
can possibly have a negative effect on individuals sense of self.
Keywords: social media, adolescents, low self esteem.
Introduction
Social media is considered to be websites and applications that allow individuals to participate in
social networking (Spies Shapiro, 2014). Erving Goffman s dramaturgical theory suggests that life
is like a play in which people are the actors. Through social media it can be possible that some may
learn how to play their role/identity through the socialization of others. In recent years, social media
has changed dramatically, allowing individuals to share feelings, ideas,

The Consequences Of Modernism In James Joyce s Dubliners
Modernism was a time of questioning what the future awaited and viewing said future through
pessimistic/disillusioned eyes. In all the books we ve read in class, the unknown was always
something to be afraid of, and that fear has caused several paralyses of characters in which they
never change their lives, they stay fixed. For example, in Joyce s Dubliners, all the characters
exhibit a form of epiphanies in which the characters are faced with a sudden betrayal of their
inner thoughts our have moments in which something in their lives becomes very clear, but then
it becomes their choice if they want to change their lives. One of the stories in Dubliners, is The
Dead , in which the story is told by many different characters but perhaps the most main character
is Gabriel Conroy. He is a man, in which he believes himself to be intelligent, but is socially
awkward, he wants to be a confident and dominant man but in reality he has such a paralytic self
conscious that he comes off as pompous and patronizing. This self consciousness that manifests
itself in indecision for Gabriel is also seen in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrockby Eliot. In this
poem, J. Alfred is a man trying to reveal and discuss things in his life he has never done before.
In doing so, his indecision comes from a very vulnerable place in which he tries to explain why
everything is the way it is. This is why Gabriel and Alfred are an excellent choice to demonstrate
the indecision that plagues Modern

The Contract Will Stand Between Ben And Colin Essay
Defined by MacQueen and Thomson, a contract is: ... an agreement between two or more parties
having the capacity to make it, in the form demanded by law, to perform, on one side or both, acts
which are not trifling, indeterminate, impossible or illegal. . While drunk on a stag night out in
Glasburgh, Ben bought a 1970s London style Routemaster for ВЈ57,000. Which on the following
morning he said that did not mean to order the vehicle, but Colin (the seller) insisted on the deal. To
determine whether the contract will stand between Ben and Colin, as defined by MacQueen and
Thomson, the essential features of contract formation, together with the intention to create legal
relations and his contractual capacity will need to be examined.
The first important issue that would have to be tackled is that of contract formation. Was there an
offer and a relevant acceptance of that offer? To begin with, it needs to be determined whether there
was an offer. Ben bought the bus through the garthdon jumbles.eu website and despite a price being

made the invitation to treat is not obligated to accept the offer in the absence of a promise to do

In the book, the Giver and Jonas have a conversation about sharing the memories amongst
everyone. Jonas suggests that if they share the memories with everyone, than he would not have
to bear so much by himself (Lowry 142). The way that this society controls memories is by only
introducing one person to them. If these memories were not held by one person then everyone
will have to be burdened by the pain and torture: They don t want that. And that s the real reason
The Receiver is so vital to them, and so honoured (Lowry 142). This quotation provides an
insight on the reasoning behind the restriction of memories and the role The Receiver plays. In
Carter F. Hanson s piece, The Utopian function of memory in Lois Lowry s The Giver, he
provides a series of useful arguments relating to the topic of shaping emotions. He analyzes why
Lowry uses the concept of The Receiver of memories to control the communities feelings: where
one individual is responsible for holding all memories of the past so that others can live
unburdened by the pain, knowledge and guilt of human history (Hanson). This quotation from
Hansons article clearly states that memories were abolished in this community for the purpose to
void any lugubrious emotions and the way the community does this is by having a Giver. Overall,

This is an important battle because Beowulf isn t the spring chicken he used to be in the other two
battles. Beowulf has aged and gotten slower on his feet, which makes it harder for him to win
this one. this dragon is played out to be a lot stronger and better than the other monsters and he
looks even stronger now that Beowulf has gotten older. This dragon doesn t live in murky, dark
swamps like the other two, this monster lives in a cave, which seems to intensify the situation
because it s not like the other battles he s faced before. This monster symbolizes death and the
fate of Beowulf because his time has come and he knows it. During this battle, Beowulf and his
men travel to kill this third and final monster. This dragon is a lot stronger than the others, as it
breathes fire, and can destroy basically anything it wants to. Beowulf and Wiglaf are the last two
standing and both come together to defeat this monster. this battle shows the end of Beowulf s

People With A Personality Disorder
Psychopaths are people with a personality disorder and this condition may be confused with
antisocialism. According to the article What Is a Psychopath? The term psychopath was first
applied to these people around 1900. The term was changed to sociopath in the 1930s to
emphasize the damage they do to society. Currently researchers have returned to using the term
psychopath. There are several characteristics that tell whether a person is a psychopath or not.
Not caring for others is one of them; the person does not feel emotions for others. Similarly, they
tend to show a lack of emotion, such as guilt, shame and fear. Also, it is very notable their
insincere speech, and that is very close to lying. Moreover, they are overconfident and selfish.
Although they are so focused on themselves they tend to fail in any plan in their lives. Violence
is what have me worrying about them since they can become serial killers. In my opinion,
psychopaths are not useful in society due to the fact that they do not feel anything for anybody.
People do not know when they are planning something awful such as robbing a bank, assaulting
people or killing someone. On the other hand, they can be the best lawyers as they are smarts and
great liars. Therefore, if they lie in front of a judge their facial features would not change. On one
hand, psychopaths could be a problem for society. The lack of feelings is the main reason I think
they could not be useful. A psychopath surgeon is definitely

Alfred Hitchcock Vertigo Themes
Alfred Hitchcock might be history s most respected director among both the critics and the public. I
think He made Vertigo to celebrate the entertainment we love about the movies, yet ones that, upon
closer inspection, reveal a deeper understanding of how techniques work wonders on the
subconscious. Vertigo might be one of his greatest movies of all time and should credit more often
about this masterpiece. When I watched Vertigo, I believe it has three themes throughout the whole
entire film. The themes I recognized throughout the movie are love, guilt, and illusion. There can
be a lot of debate on whether I am right or wrong about the themes but let me explain more in my
essay. Alfred Hitchcockshows love throughout the film but isn t pretty.... Show more content on

Madeleine, the object of his obsession, is a fantasy, or the ghost of Elster s wife. When
Madeleine is really Judy, she falls in love with Scottie but she loves a man who thinks he s in
love with someone else. She has to become that someone else to get his love but how is that for a
healthy relationship? Scottie can t ever love Judy for who she is; he has to turn her into
Madeleine to feel anything at all but I don t think we can ever call that love. Also, Hitchcock
manifests love in the acting by showing it in the beginning, middle, and end of the movie. He
shows much Madeline cares about Scottie and vice versa. The next theme I discovered in
Vertigo was guilt. When Scottie sees his fellow policeman fall to his death, he s disabled not
only from acrophobia, but also by a crushing sense of guilt. Even if he doesn t say so explicitly,
we sense that Hitchcock is zooming the camera on Scottie because he believes that he caused the
officer s death and the officer was trying to save Scottie s life. Also, I think getting involved with
saving Madeleine may have been a way to get rid of some of that guilt. When he thinks his fear of
heights also killed Madeleine, he loses his

African American Immigration Issues
The U.S. has been facing a number of foreign policy issues, most of them regional, some of them
global. Washington s immigration policy has not changed significantly for almost 25 years. The
Obama Administration s immigration system continues to be an outmoded, hedged mess that
makes legal migration often all but impossible for many to achieve. According a report on the
Center for Migration Study (CMS) website, approximately 41.3 million immigrants lived in the
United Statesin 2013, accounting for 13 percent of the overall U.S. population, North and Central
America represent 69.5%, Asia 14.1%, Africa 2.9%, Europe 2.8% and Oceania 0.2%. According to
the same report, Black African immigrants represent one of the fastest growing segments of... Show

As a result, some countries have moved into high gear to prevent the spread of the disease within
their borders. A number of governments, including the United States, have initiated additional
screening of travelers arriving from not only the three countries at the center of the outbreak:
Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone but also from the rest of African countries. According to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recommendations and procedures have not
changed for travelers entering the United States from Guinea this includes travelers from Liberia
who have also been in Guinea within the past 21 days (cdc.gov, 2015). Also AllAfrican.com

Summary Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson And The Ones...
Sacrifice for Peace It is safe to say to say that one person does not deserve harm for the
betterment of a society or a community. In the short stories, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson and
The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin, each display similarities when it
comes to sacrifice for better. Although each society believes in the practice, in the story The
Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas the citizens believes the practice of locking a little boy away
in a closest will benefit them to live happily and prosper. In The Lottery a town of people hold a
yearly assembly where a person of the communityis randomly chosen to be stoned for the hope of
more crops in the fall. Each of the stories display sacrificein their theme, as well as people in the
community who believe that the practice of sacrifice is wrong, and the belief that the benefits
for all come from pain and suffering of one single individual. In the story, The Lottery people in
the community practice sacrifice by going through a process of drawing names. In the story the
characters assemble in town square to draw names out of a black box that has been used for
decades. Their form of sacrifice has been a town ritual that everyone in the community has become
accustomed to for some time. When the day comes for the lottery all the citizens gathered in the
town square. Surprisingly, during the first drawing a well known man by the name of Bill
Hutchinson drew the slip to be sacrificed. Tessie, the

Ddt Research Paper
I think we should definitely use insecticides to try and get rid of all the insects that can be
threatening to humans in Africa. We should use DDT in Africa because of the harmful effects of
dangerous insects. We should use it because it stops the spread of malaria, it kills mosquitoes
that are the cause of malaria. It helps kill the insects that can be dangerous to crops that people
grow in Africa. It also kills poisonous insects that can poison people and even small children.
First off DDT has the ability to kill insects that carry diseases such as malaria. There is
about 207 million cases of malaria and 80% of cases of malaria in the world are in Africa. There
are over 3,000 types of mosquitoes and there are billions and billions ... Show more content on

DDT can help get rid of a lot of insects even the ones that can cut off important resources to us.
Some insects in Africa can damage crops that give us food and DDT can put a
stop to those kinds of bugs. Farming in Africa is abundant and provides a lot of food to the
people that live there however other organisms have a liking to food as well. There are many
types of insects that are crop eaters. Especially in africa there are insects that eat all sort of crops
which is causing a crisis with the food count. DDT can get rid of those insects that are stealing
and eating the food people grow in africa to survive. Now the way we live can be killed by
insects and then we can just simply be killed by insects.
Now in africa the environment can be very dangerous because there are insects that are
dangerous to us but DDT can get rid of all those harmful ones. Insects such as wasps, tsetse flies
and African ants can be dangerous to humans and all of those creatures can be found in Africa.
Deadly insects are abundant in africa and kill people daily. The tsetse fly can cause sleeping
sickness and can make people die terribly put using DDT will put a stop to the

White Privilege And Black Privilege
The term privilege is when a person has the right or confused with having the right to do
something. For example, for someone to advance their education is not a privilege perhaps it is a
right. In some cases during certain situation person can be granted the privilege. White privilege is
a word greatly used in social rights that advantage individuals to be acknowledged as white in
Western countries, afar what is frequently proficient by non white individuals in the same social,
political, or economic conditions (Rothenberg, 2016). However, when a certain racecolor is treated
more superior than another race is giving the advantage or benefit to have the opportunity to do
anything they want without anyone trying to stop them.
According to the authors, what practice(s) create white privilege is viewed in their own unique
perspective but, it all fits up under one category of a specific race having the advantage to have
their freedom to do what they like. Based on McIntosh view that whites in Western societies adore
recompenses that non whites do not practice, as an undistinguishable package of unjustified assets
(Rothenberg, 2016). White freedom represents together evident and not as much of evident
submissive rewards that white people may possibly not identify they require, which differentiates it
from explicit favoritism or preconception. In fact, they have been accepted as the better social
status in addition to freedom to move, buy, work, play, and speak freely. It

  • 2. Teen Pregnancy Essay Pregnancies are a wonderful thing. Just imagine being able to create another human being and bringing it into the world. Although this may be what the majority of mothers think, teen moms may have a different perspective. They might have been forced into pregnancy and the child may be a reoccurring thought of what happened to her. Chances are the teen will love her baby in the long run, but in the beginning the teen most likely had different views. Teen pregnancyis a worldwide problem that needs to be educated properly. The reason why most teen pregnancies occur because teens aren t educated enough. Generally when a teen has a baby, society tends to make her seem like a monster, and that whatever happened to cause this. She gets shunned and pushed into a dark place where she may not be capable to provide the best care for herself or her baby. The duo may be ignored by their family and friends, causing them to feel very isolated and alone, which could potentially lead to things such as insanity, other mental health issues, or the worst case possible, death. Unfortunately, if the teen gets to the point where she feels like there s no other option, she will most likely turn to drugs and alcohol, making her situation even worse for herself and those around her. If drugs or alcohol were involved before the teen knew she became pregnant, medical complications to her or the baby are very likely. The teen has to stop drinking, or doing any type of drugs immediately if she wants to keep her and her baby safe. If the mother gets hurt in anyway while she is pregnant, she can potentially hurt and/or kill her baby. Birth deformities are common in mothers who choose to not have a healthy lifestyle. Teen moms are more likely to have their babies born early, have miscarriages, and underweight babies. This will lead to the need of more medical attention, which leads to more money. If the teen mother does not have any help from parents, family, or friends, she will most likely not be able to pay for it and could cause harmful things to occur to her ... I think that we all know that discriminating someone by their religion, color or nationality is illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, its illegal to against a person based on his/her color, religion, sex, disability, and national origin. But this doesn t mean its all over and the problem is solved, it may reduce the discrimination but not enough to eliminate it. It was first discovered and studied by ancient mathematicians in Egypt a very long time ago. In the study of mathematics one realizes that many patterns often occur. None have been more relevant or fascinating that the golden ratio. The golden ratio has many names and is often referred to as the golden section, golden mean, golden proportion and golden cut. It is incredible to see the relation and impact mathematics has on everything in the world. Many famous pieces of art that depict humans have been known to use the golden ratio in their creations. Leonardo de Vinci used the human body proportioned according to the golden ratio when producing such incredible works such as Mona Lisa, and The Last Supper. The Golden Mean and Christianity When studying the golden ratio it is evident that there is symmetry in the entire universe. When studying this subject from a Christian world view it is very easy to see the act of god in the creation of it all. Everything in nature is fixated around this magical number and this is described as Gods fingerprints upon nature. When looking at nature using the sequence it is evident that there is a mathematically precise correlation in the world. This correlation can be seen every day when looking at nature, humans and even astronomy. This to many is proof of a creator. The argument against Christianity is that everything in the universe happened by a random chance. If this was true and the world was created by an absolute random occurrence then why would this number and sequence occur in almost everything on earth? Now before it was mentioned that a strength the commercial had was the fact that it was aired during the 2011 Super Bowl but at the same time tat was also a weakness. Now the commercials during the Super Bowl get a lot of popularity but they do not get much screen time for 2 major reasons. The first being it costs millions of dollars to get a commercial to air during the Super Bowl and second, many other companies want to get a commercial to air also so the time has to be split evenly. Little screen time means sacrificing vital information for the commercial. In other words, the commercial was good at making itself memorable and fun to watch but it did not display many features or specifications about the car that are important when someone is in the market to buy a car. The only feature Volkswagen showed was the fact that you could click a button on your keychain to turn the car on. That feature is not important when it comes to the safety of the vehicle or how many miles to the gallon the car has. If people did not care about the specifications then there would be no competition in the car industry other than to make a car as fancy looking as possible. Another weakness the commercial displayed was not giving a good price point for the car. The commercial said prices starting at $20,000, which to begin is a bit high to begin at for a 4 door sedan. Also, what would make the price higher? This brings viewers back to the specifics of the car that the commercial doesn t tell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When students begin to grow older and are faced with more challenging classes in junior high and high school, the workload begins to pile up. Students are now becoming more stressed and have anxietybecause of the amount of work that is placed on them which is even taking a toll on their family life. Many students end up completing the assignment in order to just get credit for it without a regard for learning. But over the years, homeworkhas begun to lose its purpose. Instead of the students focusing on only completing their homework in order to get good grades, they should be more focused on learning the material that they are studying. Without truly understanding the material in the classes that students might be taking, school is essentially a waste of time. The effects of mass quantities of schoolwork on students that are given by teachers leads students to underperform in school due to the mental stress and anxiety. As students begin to move onto other levels of school starting in elementary, they begin to see an increase in the amount of work they are given. In elementary school, students start to face the problem of excessive amounts of homework, and this is a problem that has been frequently talked in the past. Majority of rap artists in the 2000 s rely heavily on commercial producers and multiple artist features to promote the popularity of their album. It was not until the early 1960 s that the impact of the dry land received attention. Known as the Sahel, the region was previously known for its wet arable land. Present day, the Sahel has taken the form of a semi arid dry land that expands over eleven African states: Egypt, Mauritania, Mali, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Niger, Tunisia, Morocco, and Western Sahara. Desertification, or arable land degradation, has occurred in the Sahel over the past ten thousand years, dating back to the ice age. During the Pre Classical era many ancient civilizations found home at the Nile River Valley. Plentiful monsoon rains permeated the Sahel, but water on the surface of the Sahel has decreased significantly as desertification has inversely increased, leaving only unreachable underground water reservoirs. Stress is put on the Sahel region from services: agriculture, forage, energy, raw materials, etc. Gradually over time the carbon build up in the atmosphere has caused increased water vapor instead of it being recycled into rainwater. Without rain water plants, or autotrophs, cannot perform adequate photosynthesisand carbon fixation, thus carbon build up continues to occur further trapping carbon in the atmosphere and increasing global climate. Anselm s Ontological Argument St. Anselm s Ontological Argument has remained one of the most widely known arguments for a Christian God, as well as simply probably the most famous logical proof of all time, since its inception in the late 11th century. The economical proof uses deductive logic starting from basic given premises to lead the reader to what is meant to be the inevitable conclusion that God must, necessarily, exist. The argument s polished simplicity is both a point in favor and a problem, however, for it provides little explanation for its premises beyond what is to be assumed within the tight structural framework of Christian thought beneath which all medieval philosophy operated. Saying that the sandwich one daydreamed about having for lunch would have been better if it had existed looks like a very strange claim; how can it be valid to ascribe the negative presence of reality qualities to a being which consists only of understanding qualities? The two types of existence are incomparable: to say something exists in the mind and to say something exists in reality is to be discussing two very different types of existence, for which we unfortunately have but one word. In the proof, Anselm is possibly relying two slightly different definitions of possible by conflating these two different types of being/existence: God could not have been greater than he is in the understanding. • 20. The Dangers Of Social Pressure The Dangers of Relenting to Social Pressure From early childhood to adulthood, the urge to submit to social pressure is a reality that shapes everyone on a daily basis. The desire to meet societal expectations is a factor that greatly impacts decision making from fashion sense, to choosing friends, and to making the right choices in the work force. Many times, this desire for acceptance repudiates one s beliefs and innate senses. In Opinions and Social Pressure by Solomon Asch, and Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, the two psychologists conduct a series of experiments to observe how the influence of social pressure leads to conformity and obedience to authority. Both experiments demonstrate the adverse effects of social pressure, for conformity involves a sacrifice of self interests, while blind obedience to authority results in the harm of others. According to the results of the experiments, social pressure is a force that can cause people to act outside of their personal convictions and moral conscience. In Asch s experiment, he gathers a group of seven to nine male college students, to participate in a psychological experiment in visual judgment experiment in order to observe the time it would take for a subject to yield to social pressure (Asch 9). These truths are conflict, love, communication, timing, and reputation. Conflict is the most important truth focused on in Romeo and Juliet. Act three emphasizes conflict more so than any of the other acts. Shakespeare conveyed the truth of conflict in Romeo and Juliet to reveal the impact conflict has in daily life. The role conflict plays in daily life is revealed through Mercutio being killed, Tybalt being killed in retribution, and the essay by Romeo and Juliet has a central focus on conflict. Bowling wrote, This theme often comes out in the form of paradox, since the characters are constantly being shocked and surprised that one quality of a thing is often in sharp disagreement with some other quality (Bowling). Bowling agrees with the analysis of Romeo and Juliet having a central focus on conflict. Throughout the play there are conflicting meanings often confuse the reader as well as the characters. These paradoxes are included to show the profound effect of conflict within communication. Without conflict, which is a disagreement between people or options, there would be no complexity. Whether it is as complicated as a new drug s detainment of federal approval or whether it is as commonplace as the social acceptance of a new medical procedure, politics has performed an integral part in the formation of science; this integrated unit is what greatly affects most of the society at large. Thus, it is no surprise the scientific discussion of genetic engineering is peppered with political rhetoric. Before entering into a discussion of genetics and politics, a few scientific definitions are essential to fully understand the arguments which will be presented. First, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gene therapy is defined as the medical replacement of defective genes in living human cells; its aim is to replace the activity of a defective gene by activating a dormant gene which has a similar function (Wheale McNally, 212). Under gene therapy comes the politically controversial Human Genome Project, a fifteen year, $3 billion federally funded biology program. The goal of the project is to isolate the defective gene on the chromosomes which comprise the human genome (Fletcher, 2). In this manner, the Human Genome Project may be able to rid the cancer ridden genes from human DNA, thereby curing cancer permanently. The project has been the focus of much scientific and political controversy over the past few years for its possible ramifications are extensive to all of human existence. Finally, genetic reductionism is the tendency to stigmatize, ostracize or eliminate individuals or groups not meeting a genetic norm (Butler, 369). Reductionism is the biggest threat to genome research and is the most explosive of the three genetic science discussed (gene engineering, therapy, and reductionism). Certain term such as defective, faulty, advantage, and genetic norm plague the scientific discussion, thereby causing the very study of genetic manipulation to be political and controversial. • 23. Identifying The Search For An Keyword Search Tool A.Email messages A forensic accountant could use a few different techniques to assist in reducing the volume of email messages he or she has to examine. One technique they could utilize is using a keyword search. This is probably the easiest to implement in searching for specific emails. Keyword search tools generally come in two types, indexed or not indexed. An indexed keyword search tool depends on the index that it created in order to actually locate documents having the specific search terms. A non indexed keyword search scans through the document with each search iteration to determine whether the specific term exists. They keyword search will accurately find documents within the search criteria, however the documents may not have any relevance to what the forensic accountant is actually looking for. Therefore, the forensic accountant wants to be sure he or she is utilizing specific key words to find the evidence he or she is looking for. Another method is context search. The context search adds context to the search criteria. Context search helps improve the keyword search solution by addressing the problems present in keyword searches related to synonymy and polysemy. Synonymy is a common linguistic issue where different words are used to express the same concept, and polysemy is where the same word can have different meanings (Fordham, 2013). The context search method combines several advance techniques in a simple user interface, making searches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While it s correct that some people have been blessed with the golden voice, the simple truth is that anyone can learn to sing better than they do now. When it comes down to it, using your voice is just like using any other instrument. For example, have you ever tried playing a violin without any violin lessons beforehand? The resulting screeching sound would probably have you think you re not cut out for playing the violin, but the truth is that you just don t have the necessary skills yet. Although knight s dominated the battlefield and had a huge cultural value in society you cannot ignore the impact that technology has had on their role. These technological advances such as the longbow, the introduction of light cavalry and developments such as gunpowder and artillery, the tactical developments such as sieges and the general organisation surrounding warfare resulted in knights declining in social value, status and affectability as well as a more dramatic yet gradual metamorphosis into the heavily armoured tank divisions in today s modern armies. This however was only evident in the early Middle Ages, showing that heavy cavalry would not be the most dominant force throughout the entirety of the Middle Ages. However this speed and manoeuvrability did not always result in the knight being the dominant figure. The knight may have been dominant in the West where the terrain was favourable and the heat moderate but when traveling to Jerusalem for the crusades they were less well suited to endurance in a hot climate and clumsy and unmanoeuvrable making them ineffective and vulnerable to the enemy. O Pioneers By Willa Cather Analysis O Pioneers!: The Land and the American Dream It seems that everything in Willa Cather s O Pioneers!, aside from the land, starts out so full of life and ends so utterly devoid of it. It could even be said that the characters in the novel become imprisoned by their own lives. Marie is barred by her love, which, in the end, leaves her quite literally lifeless. Alexandra, who initially is so full of life, begins to view her life as unimportant and as a prisonhouse. Even the spirituality of the pioneers is ever declining and dying away. She epitomizes the American Dream and everything it stands for. She takes a raw piece of Nebraskan soil and works it until it becomes bountiful and she becomes wealthy and seemingly successful. In all of her success in achieving the American Dream, very little is said about Alexandra s own hopes and dreams. Though Alexandra is the only one to have achieved anything close to the American Dream, she is the only character to become completely downhearted. In the novel it is written that she was actually tired of life (112) and that what was left of life seemed so unimportant (113). She also relates life to a poem she loved as a girl, and the poem reads as follows: Hence Forth the world will only be/A wider prison house to me...(118). Regardless of the fact that Alexandra signifies everything that is the American Dream, she is still unhappy with and imprisoned by life. It is not until she indulges in her own dream, the companionship of Carl Linstrum that she begins to see life in an optimistic light. Another element soiled by the standards of America is the spirituality of the pioneers. The best example of this is illustrated in the novel s character Ivar. During the 1970s and early 1980s, courts relied on the Pickering guidelines in striking down a variety of restrictions on teachers rights to express views on matters of public concern. Since the early 1980s, however, courts have seemed increasingly inclined to view teachers and other public employees expression as relating to private employment disputes rather than to matters of public concern. Many courts relied on Connick in broadly interpreting what falls under the category of unprotected private grievances. To illustrate, courts considered the following types of expression to be unprotected: discussing salaries during a break; filing a grievance about being assigned a job sharing teaching position; accusing the superintendent of inciting student disturbances; sending sarcastic, critical memoranda to school officials; protesting unfavorable performance evaluations; and commenting about class size and lack of discipline. Yet, when courts have applied the Pickering balancing test, they often distinguished whether disruption to school operations was truly caused by the employee s speech versus the impermissible heckler s veto that is, courts have analyzed whether the disruption was caused by outsiders attempting to silence the speech instead of the speech itself. In all the books we ve read in class, the unknown was always something to be afraid of, and that fear has caused several paralyses of characters in which they never change their lives, they stay fixed. For example, in Joyce s Dubliners, all the characters exhibit a form of epiphanies in which the characters are faced with a sudden betrayal of their inner thoughts our have moments in which something in their lives becomes very clear, but then it becomes their choice if they want to change their lives. One of the stories in Dubliners, is The Dead , in which the story is told by many different characters but perhaps the most main character is Gabriel Conroy. He is a man, in which he believes himself to be intelligent, but is socially awkward, he wants to be a confident and dominant man but in reality he has such a paralytic self conscious that he comes off as pompous and patronizing. This self consciousness that manifests itself in indecision for Gabriel is also seen in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrockby Eliot. In this poem, J. Alfred is a man trying to reveal and discuss things in his life he has never done before. This monster symbolizes death and the fate of Beowulf because his time has come and he knows it. During this battle, Beowulf and his men travel to kill this third and final monster. This dragon is a lot stronger than the others, as it breathes fire, and can destroy basically anything it wants to. Beowulf and Wiglaf are the last two standing and both come together to defeat this monster. this battle shows the end of Beowulf s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. People With A Personality Disorder Psychopaths are people with a personality disorder and this condition may be confused with antisocialism. According to the article What Is a Psychopath? The term psychopath was first applied to these people around 1900. The term was changed to sociopath in the 1930s to emphasize the damage they do to society. Currently researchers have returned to using the term psychopath. There are several characteristics that tell whether a person is a psychopath or not. Not caring for others is one of them; the person does not feel emotions for others. Similarly, they tend to show a lack of emotion, such as guilt, shame and fear. Also, it is very notable their insincere speech, and that is very close to lying. Moreover, they are overconfident and selfish. Although they are so focused on themselves they tend to fail in any plan in their lives. Violence is what have me worrying about them since they can become serial killers. In my opinion, psychopaths are not useful in society due to the fact that they do not feel anything for anybody. People do not know when they are planning something awful such as robbing a bank, assaulting people or killing someone. On the other hand, they can be the best lawyers as they are smarts and great liars. Therefore, if they lie in front of a judge their facial features would not change. On one hand, psychopaths could be a problem for society. The lack of feelings is the main reason I think they could not be useful. A psychopath surgeon is definitely ... • 43. Alfred Hitchcock Vertigo Themes Alfred Hitchcock might be history s most respected director among both the critics and the public. I think He made Vertigo to celebrate the entertainment we love about the movies, yet ones that, upon closer inspection, reveal a deeper understanding of how techniques work wonders on the subconscious. Vertigo might be one of his greatest movies of all time and should credit more often about this masterpiece. When I watched Vertigo, I believe it has three themes throughout the whole entire film. The themes I recognized throughout the movie are love, guilt, and illusion. There can be a lot of debate on whether I am right or wrong about the themes but let me explain more in my essay. Alfred Hitchcockshows love throughout the film but isn t pretty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Madeleine, the object of his obsession, is a fantasy, or the ghost of Elster s wife. When Madeleine is really Judy, she falls in love with Scottie but she loves a man who thinks he s in love with someone else. She has to become that someone else to get his love but how is that for a healthy relationship? Scottie can t ever love Judy for who she is; he has to turn her into Madeleine to feel anything at all but I don t think we can ever call that love. Also, Hitchcock manifests love in the acting by showing it in the beginning, middle, and end of the movie. He shows much Madeline cares about Scottie and vice versa. The next theme I discovered in Vertigo was guilt. When Scottie sees his fellow policeman fall to his death, he s disabled not only from acrophobia, but also by a crushing sense of guilt. Even if he doesn t say so explicitly, we sense that Hitchcock is zooming the camera on Scottie because he believes that he caused the officer s death and the officer was trying to save Scottie s life. Also, I think getting involved with saving Madeleine may have been a way to get rid of some of that guilt. When he thinks his fear of heights also killed Madeleine, he loses his ...
