Things Fall Apart Tragic Hero Essay
Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart , is a classic postcolonial novel about a man named
Okonkwo who was a well known man in his village in Nigeria. He is a man that has a very thin
temper and is portrayed as a tragic hero, Okonkwo fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero
pretty well. Okonkwo s demise was ultimately caused by his fatal flaw. A cultural identity crisis
had little to no minimal impact on his demise; rather, his fatal flaw of a bad temper and fear of
being thought of as weak had the biggest impact on his demise. Aristotle s conception of a tragic
hero includes that he is a character of a noble or high status, Okonkwo fits this because, Okonkwo
was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. . He also has... Show more content

Okonkwo doesn t fully fit this, while he does have both positive and negative qualities, his
negative qualities outweigh his positive. Some of his positive qualities are he s physically
strong, he s successful and he s an honorable man. Some of his negative qualities are he has a
really quick temper, he is full of pride, he s a weak minded person and he does things solely
based upon how he feels and doesn t think things through. In the novel Okonkwo can t control his
temper or anger very well. He is an abusive and weak man who does terrible things just to ensure
that he isn t seen as weak, which coincidentally makes him a weak person. The character has a
fatal flaw. Okonkwo fits this since the things that led him to his downfall are his fatal flaws of a
bad temper and fear of weakness. He killed Ikemefuna because he was afraid that the men would
think he was weak, Dazed with fear, Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. He was
afraid of being thought weak. He beats his wives and shot and one because his temper gotten out
of control. A tragic hero is classified as one with a large capacity of suffering, Okonkwo fits this

Similarities Between Good Night And Good Luck
I think that the issues presented in the movie Good Night and Good Luck are important to the
history of television because Ed Murrow had the courage to step up and challenge senator of
Wisconsin Joseph McCarthy about many of the issues that were going on in the early 1950.
Murrow was brave enough to report that people rights were being violated by not providing
enough evidence and judging them. For example the lady that was in court for supposable ties
with communism and was fired from her job without further investigation. In addition, he also
reported about the air force officer that was dismissed from the air force just because his dad had
ties with communist. This officer didn t even had the opportunity to have a fair trial he was found
guilty without any evidence. I think that this journalist made history because he presented the real
issues that were going on in the real world without being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were harassed or threaten to lose their sponsorship to their programming if they didn t follow
directions. However Murrow s honesty and courage was stronger than the harassment made about
him losing his job if he continued to report on controversial issues. Another thing that I also found
interesting how people didn t have the right to a fair hearing during that mandate of McCarthy. I
just think that it was very unfair to many people that were accused of having ties with communist
or being a communist because they would lose their job without further investigation. Furthermore,
I also found interesting how a Joe and Shirley couldn t work together because they married and it
was against policy rules. They had to hide their marriage from everyone to avoid being fired from
their job. I just found this very unfair because there was not conflict of interest since they both
worked as reporters and neither one had higher authority over the

Mgt 311 Week 4 Dead Load Analysis
Week 4 Dead load refers to the load of the structure itself while live load refers to the maximum
load that can be applied to the bridge before it stops being static. When taking in to account the
information gained in week 3 regarding the distance between applied forces and their reaction it
is made apparent that taking the live load of a structure into account becomes more complex. For
example a group of hikers walking across a bridge spaced out from each other will cause a
significantly different reaction when compared to the same group of hikers gathering together on a
single section of the bridge to take a photo. Week 6 If a structure is in static equilibrium, then any
portion or segment of it must also be in static equilibrium. With this

Kadelphianism at Texas Christian University Essay
Psychologists often refer to the period of life known as adolescence as one of the most difficult
stages of development that an individual will endure.
It has been stated that adolescence is the time when an individual forms his/her own sense of
identity. A sense of identity is defined as an organized sense of how our own personality traits,
values, and beliefs fit together in defining who we are. Therefor, the development of a sense of
identity is, in fact, the basis for a stable adult personality.
Certain responsibilities accompany this development of an identity, such as the commitments
quot;to oneself, to one s family, to significant others, and to the various subgroups in society of
which one is a member. quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The founders believed in unselfish service to mankind, and they felt that personal leadership
requires confidence tempered with humility and tolerance.
The rituals of Kadelphianism are also quite simple and pure in nature.
With Frog Fountain serving as a center for all activity, the Kadelphian students meet on a bi
weekly basis; during these meetings there is an opening prayer session, a candle lighting
ceremony, and an open discussion or forum involving all of the students present. The members
discuss private and public issues which they attempt to resolve through peer support and
interaction. After the forum is complete, the candles are blown out simultaneously, and a closing
prayer is recited. During the ritual ceremony, all Kadelphians wear a small pin bearing the symbol
of Kadelphianism: a diamond shaped badge with the inscribed letters TCU and a pair of hands
clasped in friendship.
The hierarchy of the Kadelphians is based on the leadership and dedication set forth by its
members. The Grand Kadelphian, or leader of the students, is chosen by majority opinion; the
other leading Kadelphians are chosen by the Grand Kadelphian based on merit, scholarship, and
service to fellow students. It is considered an honor to be chosen by one s peers for any of the

Essay about Graduation Speech
Ah, life eh? Hello Class of 2012.
There are so many things to say to you. I feel so privileged to get to speak to everyone, and there
is so much to say. We have come to this point in our lives that many have come to before us. I
almost feel like I have done it already, having watched people grow up and graduate before. But
now today it is our turn to really do it. To walk this aisle, to sit in the seats, and to play with these
tassels.
It seems like so long ago and it seems like just yesterday, those perils of adolescence. Brier

my days, chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool, playing some b ball outside of my school. One of

In other activities, we have all made names for ourselves. Athletically, many have achieved
incredible things. People have gone to state meets and tournaments, lettered in varsity sports and
maybe even have been named team captain for a season or two. In our music and drama
departments, students have excelled, securing coveted spots in our school s top bands, orchestras
and choirs. Some have put their talents to work and gotten the lead in our school plays or been
put in charge backstage making entire musicals go smoothly. All of the clubs at school have had
students from our class named as presidents, editors or producers. Our class every year has had its
very own government, naming people as our president, vice president and so on.
So much has happened in our lives because of Green Terrace High Schooland what it has to offer.
Individually, something there in that building formed who we are right now and what person we
have become.
For everything we have accomplished and made of ourselves, there is so much to say. Our
parents, whole families and friends are so proud of us, and we could go on and on about all that
has been achieved by each one of us up to this point. If I could, I would like to talk about
something else.
In the world that we live, titles and achievements mean everything. We get so caught up in proving
ourselves worthy to be reckoned with and listened to that we go to

Andy Warhol And His Influence On Art
When someone is asked to name the most famous artists in history, they usually point out all the
classics; van Gogh, da Vinci, Monet, and Picasso. However, even though they are all extremely
renowned, Andy Warhol is right up in that list of top guns. His style of art was a major influence
on art today; in fact, Andy Warholis one of the most significant artists of the 20th century.
Various famous people come from a modest life and Andy Warhol is one of them. He was born
to Slovakian immigrants as Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1928. His
father and mother were Ondrej and Julia Warhola and he was the youngest of three boys. His
father worked in construction while his mother did work as an embroiderer. They were
Byzantine Catholics and raised their sons the same. Andy Warhol was a sickly child and would
often miss school due to chorea, a disease that is connected to the nervous system. However,
Warhol s mother was an artistic person and introduced him to art whenever he was sick at home
and Warhol loved it. When Andy Warhol was fourteen, his father died. In his will, he wanted his
youngest son to use the money to go toward a further education. Andy Warhol graduated high
school in 1945 and enrolled at the Carnegie Institute for Technology. After graduating in 1949 with
a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Warhol moved to New York City.
There are nearly a hundred different styles of art that all came around at different periods of time.

During The Great Tribulation
The Great Tribulation has become a hot topic of conversation for many evangelists. Terrorist attacks
across the world, deadly war inhabiting our nation s, pandemic diseases and other natural
phenomenon have brought light onto the up and coming subject, the end of times. According to the
Bible, the Tribulation is a time of misery and persecution of the followers of Christ. Furthermore,
the New Testament uses the word tribulation to signify a time period of distress before the return of
JesusChrist. Nonetheless, during the Great Tribulation, believers believe the Lord will
accomplish two important aspects of his holy prophecy. In Daniel 9:24, the following verse
reveals the first step of the Lord s plan Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy
city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, bring in everlasting
righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.... Show more content

Conforming to the following passage the message portrayed is that the Lord will complete his
discipline on his nation during a time period denoted as the tribulation. According to Revelation
6 18, the second aspect of the Lord s plan is revealed. The verses state he will judge the
unbelievers that inhabit the sin filled earth. From a biblical point of view unbelievers are people
who are classified as those who deny Jesus is God s son. Unbelievers do not believe in or follow
prophecies that the Lord preaches. According to the books of Daniel and Revelation, the
tribulation period of judgment, will last 7 years. In a manner conforming to the messages in the
bible, the Lord uses mercy to inform and prepare believers for a time period of misery known as the

Academic Philosophy Of Early Childhood Education
Introduction
Children s academic performance in schools is not only based on the type of schools attended by
them, children exposed to early education are expected to outperform those that were not. This
paper focused on Philosophy of Early Childhood Education with interest on whether Children with
early education perform well academically than those that do not. In most countries in West Africa,
parents take their children to preschools before going through primary education. This preschool
education usually prepares them not only academically but also socially for primary school
education. Several striking changes in behavior are linked to children s growing sense of their
identity and increasing independence at preschools. Children ... Show more content on

It is generally accepted as the education given to children under 6 years of age. This education
precedes the start of formal primary schooling or before the age at which children are generally
expected to attend schools (Maduewesi, E. J. Agusiobo, B.C., 2005). Early childcare is therefore
conceptualized as encompassing the care, development, and education of children below the age of
6 (NERDC, 1996).
Purpose of Early Childhood Education
It is of utmost relevance to understand the importance of Education before considering why early
childhood education is necessary. Education has been the major light to the development of
nations all over the world. Even before the independence of most countries, people have undergone
various training and education abroad which led to the development of their countries. The
purpose of education is to bring development to the nations. The broad goal of early childhood
education is to increase children s performance in the preschool and at both primary and college
education. In the preschool, children learn new skills, which they have not been exposed to at their
different homes. Also, there is a socio cultural relationship among children at the preschool which
could serve as a means of learning about a new culture and getting familiar with new ideas about
different behavioral patterns. The importance of Early Childhood Education is

The Vexing Question
The Vexing Question The cause most to blame for the the outbreak of war in 1914 was the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Austria Hungary s unwavering feud, or competition,
with Serbia caused them to lose their lack of judgement. Resulting in them using the Archduke
Franz Ferdinand s death as an alibi for an acquisition that had deliberately unacceptable demands
of Serbia, leading to the declaration of war. As stated, Austria Hungary and Serbia had a rivalry.

Analysis Of Arthur Jackson Holmes By Arthur Holmes
If I have set it down it is because that which is clearly known hath less terror than that which is
but hinted at and guessed . page 23 This quote gives an explanation for the mysterious events
that place in the book. Assumptions can be made that many guesses will be made throughout
the book . The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. Where
do you think I have been? Holmes addresses Watson by asking a rhetorical question. When he
gets back from his club, the detectives gives some advice. Holmes says that some answers are
right in front of you and tries to build Watson as a detective. Just tell me what it all
means,Watson and I ll owe you more than ever I can hope to pay. When Sir Henry addresses
Watson this way , it gives latter the rare opportunity to play the head detective. Watson s means of
attempting to answer questions like this provides a layout to Holmes s method. I knew that
seclusion and solitude were very necessary for my friend in those hours of intense mental
conception during which he weighed every particle of evidence, constructed alternative theories,
balanced one against the other , and made up his mind as to which points were essential and which
immaterials. Watson explains one of Holmes s method. Throughout the book Watson is always left
out of the problem solving. Watson supports Holmes as a detective and completely defends
Holmes and reflects the quality that Holmes makes use of people

Write An Essay On The Most Dangerous Game
As I trot the familiar path from the locker room to the stadium, the air begins to thicken and
crackle with static. The sound of cleats scuffing along on the pavement of the track onto the turf,
with a faint cheering off in the distance is not easily recognizable inside the helmet. My heart

on the other side of the stadium, joined by their fandom that looks hazy like a demonsterous figure
from my dreams. I try hard not to notice their fist pumping movements.
Our own huddle is starting its formation on the sidelines in what seems to be a superpower figure

The game allows freedom to let go of any fears or baggage I have. The game defines me.
Elaborate here. The game doesn t care if I am a good writer, proficient in English, or how many
AP s I have taken. It has no concern for my size, my skin color, or what language I speak. All it
cares about is that I dance to the tempo creating a story that is all mine for those pulsating sixty
minutes that I am in there keeping pace with the other opponents that at times are afraid of me,
sometimes they want to dance with me and at other times they try hard to stop the music that is

Vo2 Max Analysis
An athlete with a VO2 max of 65 ml/kg/min will be able to perform at a high level for a longer
duration than an athlete with a VO2 max of 40 mL/kg/min. However, this relates to aerobic work.
Someone with a high VO2 max will not necessarily be able to perform at a higher capacity during
resistance exercise or short duration high intensity work, such as sprints.A complete VO2 Fitness
test can give trainers and clients the tools to set realistic goals and assess improvements. Many
people are inefficient exercisers, with no understanding of what specific heartrate, intensity or

But not all studies take into account changes in lifestyle, motivation levels, injury and many
other factors. A study done on masters runners between the ages of 50 and 82 years of age, who
continued to compete on a regular basis over a 10 year period of time, showed less decline in
VO2 max compared to their non competitive counterparts. Studies also show that a slight decline
in VO2 max may be countered by the ability to deal with greater amounts of lactic acid, an
advantage found to exist in older runners2. This could possibly explain why many endurance
athletes in their late 40s and 50s are still competitive with athletes in their 20s and 30s.You can
expect to see fast finish times from top pros in their 20s and 30s in the results of any endurance
event, but now it s also common to see athletes in their 40s and 50s almost as fast, if not at times
faster. For example: the 40 44 year old male category winner in the 2012 Boston Marathon
finished in 2:23:08, just 10:28 behind the overall winner, making him 15th overall. In Ironman
events, the top 40 50 year old finishers consistently place in the top 20 50 overall, out of
thousands of participants. Even the winner of the 50 54 year old category of the 2011 Ironman
Lake Placid placed 47th overall, demonstrating that even as you age your VO2 max may decrease
but not as fast.

Machiavelli s The Prince Is Call A Classic
Machiavelli The Prince is call a classic. In today s contemporary society I believe that some of
Machiavelli advice would be relevant. His first piece of advice was teaching us how having
knowledge in the military is an important quality that a prince can achieve. Second a person
should be a true friend and a true enemy. Thirdly Machiavelli says do not be generous with your
money, you ll just have to tax harder and you ll lose the support of your citizens. Fourthly in
order for a prince to keep his power he must avoid the hatred of his people. Lastly most of our
traits that we learn come from human nature and we should use these traits to the best of our
ability. Machiavelli wrote a manual on how to rule and govern during the Italian Renaissance.
The Italian Renaissance has taken place several years ago, in today s contemporary society the
world is different now. Machiavelli believed it was better to feared than love. Machiavelli never
supported cruelty and violence although, he did believe that sometimes being cruel and violent
would be good for the republic. His social advice is very useful in today s society. Machiavelli
believed that you should stay true yourself and always keep in mind that everybody isn t always
going to do the right thing. Machiavelli states that how one lives are so far distant from how one
ought to live. (chapter1) In today s society we do have some people who follow laws and do the
right thing and on the other hand you have others who break

In the initial portion of the film, Dr. Stern was not overly appreciated by his patients, because his

perspective a successful psychologist. So to prevent potentially losing patients, he listens, but does
not speak on how to treat them. This is shown when the final patient shown questions his inability
to help, and the length of the treatment, in which Dr. Stern states it ll work in due time.

Stern only has six more weeks to live, which leads him to being more honest with his patients, even
if it makes their views more negative towards himself. The feeling of inevitability makes Dr. Stern

comments. Many patients smash his windows, and run out of the building in an initial surge of
anger, not initially realizing how important these comments are. But as the movie continues, the
film transitions to his patients accepting this new treatment from Dr. Stern, because it s changing
them for the better. This is shown when the gardener is waiting outside for a window to break, yet
surprisingly nothing occurs. Besides that, when this section of the film starts coming to a close, the

Tyson Foods Competitive Advantage
The global poultry trade has been, and continues to be one of the fastest growing meat trades of
the last few years (Davis, 2015). The poultry industry has over the years has been faced a
multitude of challenges; this report explores factors that influence international trade, whilst
explaining how a firm s competitive advantage can be altered as a change in tariffs and quotas.
From a Senior Managers perspective, the report will also identify potential obstacles that a North
American poultry firm may face in the global market and explain how they achieve a comparative

within the U.S broiler industry, there are several factors that immediately give the company a

efficiency rates with minimal costs of manufacture (Macdonald, 2008). The report also states that
the US are ranked highly in terms of a combination of diversification, off farm income and
increased farm financial performance as well high productivity which results in greater exports and
an improved competitive advantage. Using Tyson Foods as an example, a senior manager would
constantly seek out opportunities to excel their firm further ahead of its competitors. One way that

Partition Reimbursement Analysis
In addition to monetary compensation, the benefits offered by varying companies are often taken
into consideration when job candidates are weighing their different job options. When an
organization offers excellent benefits, candidates are willing to take less in monetary
compensation for the comfort provided by certain benefits. For example, extended maternity and
paternity leave options, paid or partially paid, attract and retain young workers who plan to build
a family in the near future. While you can t expect every organization to offer full pay during an
extended time off to raise a family, knowing that your organization will provide some kind of
support is reassuring during this time where families often rely on the pay of both spouses. Other
nations have already enacted legislation that requires extensive maternity leave; such as Israel who
provides women with twelve months with 100 percent pay (Pynes, 2013). Currently, the United
States only requires twelve weeks of unpaid leave. If certain organizations were to offer

The Problems Of Waste And Waste Management
What are the dilemmas with Waste or Urbanization and Farming? Before we can begin to discuss
this topic we first must look into the impact of waste and waste management, but more importantly
what types of waste we produce. Most people really do not care about the environment until it

Now that you have the right mindset let s look into what wastewe produce. Here are just a few

Comparison Of Dystopias And The New Harmony Society
Utopias and dystopias are two complete opposite societies. A utopia is defined as any real or
imaginary society, place, or state that are considered to be perfect or ideal ( Utopia ). Everyone has
a different idea of what a perfect world would be. This makes creating a utopia for everyone very
difficult. One person s utopiamay be a dystopiafor another. Dystopias are defined as a society
characterized by human misery, as squalor, oppression, disease, and overcrowding ( Dystopia ).
Both
Oceania and the New Harmony Society started out with the intention of being a utopia; over time,
these two societies changed into dystopias for more than one reason.

people feel inferior to others. The government slowly but surely changes and things go from

Hunger Games , the book 1984, and The New Harmony society.
Both Oceania and New Harmony considered themselves to be a utopia. George Rapp founded a

be clean. Then, a block later, it will be covered in ice. In the city of Nampa, this situation tends to
be encountered more than necessary. When someone travels from Canyon County to Ada County,
there is a clear distinction between the levels of care. Roads in Boise are usually better taken care
of compared to the morning trafficin Nampa. The Treasure Valley needs to increase road
maintenance in the winter creating more mandates for care and researching for a better
understanding and process for salting and clean up. For Idaho, statistics show the negative
repercussions and dangers of weather related accidents. One study was completed by the United
States Department of Transportation showing how weather relates to car accident statistics (U.S.
Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration). In the United States yearly, about
22% of crashes and 16% of fatalities were based off weather related incidents such as slick roads
and bad conditions (U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration). Over a
ten year study, 33% of weather related accidents were based off of snow, sleet, and ice conditions
(U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration).

Reflection of Juduasm Essay
Judaism is a religious tradition with origins dating back nearly four thousand years, rooted in the
ancient region of Canaan, which is now known as the land between Israel and Palestine. Judaism
did not emerge until the 1st century C.E. Judaism traces its heritage to the covenant God made
with Abraham and his lineage that God would make them a sacred people and give them a holy
land. The primary characters of Israelite culture include the great patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,
and the prophet Moses, who received God s law at Mt. Sinai. Judaismis a tradition grounded in the
religious, ethical, and social laws as they are articulated in the Torah. The Torah is known as the

Christianity and Judaism are different but they are not that much different from each other. You
you can say Christianity is Judaism s little brother because most of Christianity teachings derived
from Judaism. This fact forms a mystery, which is how these two relegions can be so close but yet
so far away from each other.
There are many different ways of practicing Judaism that are amongst us today, and many
different types of people that practice them. The traits and traditions that I find to be significant
and interesting in Judaism are Hanukkah, a Bar Mitzvah, and The Kashrut. There are many
more traits and traditions of Judaism that I favor, and there are many traits and traditions that I
might question if I thought about converting to Judaism; however, these are the traditions that I
believe to be some of the most widely known traditions throughout the world. My favorite part of
Judaism that I would have no problem being a part of would have to be a young man s Bar
Mitzvah. A Bar Mitzvah is a rite of passage for a 13 year old boy to become a man. Why is this
something to look forward to? Because for a young boys Bar Mitzvah the boy usually gets a
large amount of money. Now this money doesn t usually come in small amounts; however, it is

Relationship Between The Cold War And Global White Supremacy
The relationship between the Cold War and global white supremacy is clear from Borstelmann s
writing. He demonstrates how the improvement of race relations both domestic and foreign were a
necessity. If the U.S. did not fix how potential allies (specifically all post colonial countries) viewed
the U.S., communism was sure to spread. Although Latham does not identify raceas a reason for
modernization both Latham and Borstelmann show that Aligning with these posts countries was
necessary to prevent communism from becoming the primary economic system across the globe.
Although Americas primary agenda was to put a cease to the ascension of Communism during the
Cold War; results of such efforts lead to a decline in global white supremacy through empowering
local leaders, changing legislation, and an increase in economic opportunities for minorities.
Although modernization was not perfect there were many countries that benefited from U.S. help.
In fact countries such as India, Ghana, and Egypt embraced the help of the U.S. America s
assistance. With all three countries U.S. s support in empowering their economic growth was
successful. Although modernizations was to help these underdeveloped countries the primary gaol
of the U.S. is to decimate the prevalence of communism. American policy makers for foreign affairs
viewed many postcolonial leaders as politically immature and unprepared for self determination,
they exercised little restraint in trying to undermine governments

Essay Abraham Lincoln
As the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln was known to be the greatest American President. He
guided his country through one of the most catastrophic experiences in its history, the Civil War.
He was a very unique president, being the first president to have a beard, being the tallest president
standing at 6 4 and also being the first to be assassinated. Abe Lincoln accomplished many things in
the 4 year term he had served before being assassinated. With his intelligence and hard work, he
made a difference in the United States. For example he released the Emancipation Proclamation
which was one of his greatest accomplishments. He passed the Homestead Act, Morrill Act, and

Abraham Lincoln had various jobs. He worked as a store keeper, and later was chosen to
become militia captain in the Black Hawk War and postmaster. Lincoln s political career began
in 1832. Even though he did not win a seat in the State Legislature, two years later he won a seat
as a Whig. He served four terms as a Whig and by doing so he started becoming popular
statewide. Lincoln later began to study law and in 1836 he was licensed to practice. Being
successful he moved to the new capital Springfield. November 2, 1842 he married Mary Todd who
came from a very wealthy family later had four sons by the name of Robert, Edward, William, and
Thomas. Out of the four only Robert had survived into adulthood. Forming a partnership with
William H. Herndon Lincoln became Illinois s brightest lawyers. In 1858 Lincoln ran against
Stephen A. Douglas for Senator. He lost the election, but in debating with Douglas he gained a
national reputation that won him the Republican nomination for President in 1860

As president of the United States, Abraham accomplished a lot in four years. One of his major

This conception of gender presupposes not only a causal relation among sex, gender, and desire,
but suggests as well that desire reflects or expresses gender and that gender reflects or expresses
desire (Butler 30). That is to say, if one is an anatomical female, then she must reveal the female
characteristics widely recognized in the society, like the feminine behavior, dress and makeup,
and the one she loves must be the opposite sex, an anatomical male. This continuum is socially
accepted and regarded as reasonable and stable, which can be deduced from one part to another.
So after Eddie expresses convincing female characteristics by drag, people take it for granted
that Eudoxia is an anatomical female, and Eudoxia and Angelos is a normal couple. In this way,
Eddie seems to successfully solve his identity problem; resorting to the Eudoxia identity, Eddie not
only finds an apparent complete self, but also gets a satisfying relation: Eudoxia thinks that she
and Angelos have been made for each other, that our minds as well as our bodies fit, every bump

The Ministers Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Many romantic writers focused on the gothic side of romantic literature, from quirky to evil they
tend to draw emotions from the viewer. The focused material is The Ministers Black Veil ,
written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In the text Mr. Hooper is a preacher who is engaged to
Elizabeth and has recently started hiding his face behind a black veil. The townspeople begin to
think he s gone mad. He is very loving and caring, but known as living his life without much
worries and being a sinful man. While wearing the veil, he preaches and then is buried in it.
Before he dies the only person who is not afraid to question Mr. Hooper about the veil is his
fiancГ©. He does not give Elizabeth a clear answer to wearing the veil, which forces Elizabeth to
believe he s covering up a committed sinby wearing the veil. Throughout Hawthorne s work there
were different actions that his characters portray. These characters are identified as puritans who
fought inner demons between lies and their sanity. In other opinions one may refute that
Hawthorne s purpose of hiding Mr. Hooper under the veil is just his way of dealing with what he
is going through. Hooper does not search for deliverance from his sorrows; instead he resolves to
live his life as best he can while dealing with them, a stance that leaves no room for unpredictable
deliverance from God (Buchanan 6). Here it states that Hooper is dealing with his issues, even
though from the outside he is portraying something else. Although

I believe this will help reduce some conflict and possible even wars. Our country s goal will be to
remain peaceful until a danger arises. I don t mean the very slight possibility of danger, I mean
solid proof. If a country or group of people shows evidence of disrupting peace and safety, we will
eliminate the threat. I would prefer that our country uses economic sanctions whenever possible to
be diplomatic. This might not always be possible if the enemy does not comply, so military
intervention might be necessary in some cases. It is essential that our country stays out of
unnecessary wars. This will help us keep peaceful and beneficial relationships with most countries.

Hamstrings Research Paper
The hamstrings are a muscle group consisting of three muscles, the semitendinosus,
semimbranosus, and biceps femorus muscles. Tight hamstrings cause difficulty in touching your
toes, and this can lead to problems in the lower back. The practice of yoga offers wonderful ways
to stretch your hamstrings, but it is also possible to overstretch the hamstrings muscles.
The best way to prevent overstretching the hamstrings is by also practicing asanas that strengthen
the hamstrings. There are many yoga programs, such as the ashtanga series, that incorporate
elements of both stretching and strengthening into the series. But for those who are practicing on
their own at home, or for yoga teachers who make their own lessons, it is important to know which

One of the most intense hamstrings stretches is hasta padangusthasana (supine hand to toe stretch).
This pose can be done with a strap, or using your arm after you have been stretching your
hamstrings for a while. It is easy to overstretch the hamstrings in this pose, so it is important to
breath deeply and not push too hard.
Along with poses that stretch the hamstrings, it is important to mix poses that strengthen the
hamstrings. A nice way to begin class or your private practice and help strengthen the hamstrings
is with the Warrior series. Both virabhadrasana I and II (warrior I and II) help strengthen the
hamstrings. Try spending a longer time in warrior II, because it is easier for most students to go
deeper into the pose and feel their hamstrings in warrior II.
Setu bandha sarvangasana (bridge pose) is a relaxing way to focus primarily on the hamstrings and
back, and purvottansana (inclined plane) is a more active but similar stretch. Salabhasana (locust
pose) strengthens the hamstrings and also stretches the upper spine at the same time. Ustrasana
(camel pose) stretches the lower spine and strengthens the hamstrings as well, but be careful of
ustrasana because it is easy to overextend the lower back in this

Employees encountering the biggest number of vicious attacks are those in medicinal services

Family System Theory Research
The family system theory is a micro level theory that views the family as a working unit that
achieves goals, makes important decisions, and works out problems together. One of the purposes
of this theory is to investigate how individuals interact with their family members. Maintaining
equilibrium in a familyis one of the most important parts of the family system theory. It states that
family members will alter themselves to adapt to difficult situations that are causing the equilibrium
to break apart (Benokraitis 40). My family consists of my two parents, me, and my three younger
sisters. Sometimes our personalities clash, especially between my parents and my second youngest
sibling. My sibling is stubborn and instigates fights which, in turn, causes my parents frustration and
anger. Using the family system theory, I can understand why my parents must change their
approach to all their daughters. However, my parents fight frequently around my siblings and I.
Hearing them fight all the time has made communicating throughout the family difficult because on
top of the fighting they verbally put us down. Having that stress around our family changes how we
approach one another. When my parents fight, most of the time it is to gain back equilibrium like
the family system theory says.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two research questions to consider are: When do parents start verbally putting down their
children and does it cause the child to grow up into a bad mental state. With the research
questions set, the type of research technique I would use would be a clinical research model.
Even though clinical research is expensive, it can give a detailed study of a person who has been
verbally put down. The researchers would also work with the families and individuals with a one

Grouping Student Collaboration
Professions and all vocations require the ability to collaborate with others. The entire school
district of Jersey City is training their students from a very young age to master collaboration,
despite who is assigned in your group. Several projects are given as a group effort, therefore
students must complete this task efficiently with their group, or everyone s average in that group
will decrease greatly every time a similar task consisting of group work is assigned. Many teachers
group the students according to their ability, and some don t. While many disagree with this
technique, I oppose this statement. I believe that students should be grouped by ability because it is
equitable, non stressful, and will act as a wake up call for some students. No doubt, grouping the
students according to their ability is equitable because everyone in the group will contribute an
equal amount of work without involving an adult in the situation. Everyone would complete the
assigned task that was given within the group, and complete it efficiently. Grouping students

Cultural Barriers To The Romans
The gospel is the foundation of the faith and without it there nothing. Romans 1:16 states it is the
power of God that brings salvation to everyone that believes .1 There are a lot of churches which
do missions and other fine works but they fail when proclaiming the gospel. They proclaim
portions of which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never
mentioned or any other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more
likely to send healthy mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted
gospel. The power of the gospel is the best tool to break down barriers. When the Apostle Paul
wrote Romans, he was crossing cultural barriers, he stated in Romans 1: 14 15 14 I am under

I.Introduction
A.Attention Grabber: Negro League Baseball was just one more thing that represented the
segregation of African Americans and Caucasians. One man s stubbornness, determination and
athletic ability would be a start to a new beginning for Major League Baseball.
B.Thesis: Major League Baseball was founded in 1869 and up until April 15, 1947 an African
American had never played in the major leagues before and that man was named Jackie Robinson.
On that day he did not open the door for other African American athletes. He just maybe turned the
knob a little bit which also lead to a new attitude people had towards African Americans no one had

Main Point #2: Robinson in the leagues
1.Because of this Robinson was able to play for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro League at
the same time Branch Rickey (Part owner of the Dodgers) was looking to implement what can be
defined as a social experiment by introducing an African American into the Major Leagues.
Robinson played his first game April 15, 1947 and much like the neighborhood he grew up in he
endured constant death threats and harassment from the audience and other players.
C.Main Point #3: His effect on the league and society
1.Robinson was took a huge risk taking part in this, but it was worth it. He helped the Dodgers
win the World Series and after the game a huge mob chased Jackie for three blocks and Sam
Maltin a reporter from the Pittsburg Courier stated It was probably the only day in history that a
black man ran from a white mob with love instead of hate on its mind (Swaine, 2006). It took
years until the Major Leagues opened up to more African Americans, but when it did they had a
lot of love for Jackie. Joe Black a former teammate expressed his gratitude by saying When I look at
my house. I say thank God for Jackie Robinson (Singer, 2016).

Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Nightmare By Sherman Alexie
In this quote, Alexie uses foreshadowing as a literary device. Flashbacks show what is
important in the past and how it reflects the future. While Thomas and Victor were/are kids they
got into a fight and stopped talking. Now Thomas is helping Victor. Although this is a flashback,
it may also be interpreted as a hint of Victor and Thomas being friends again and help each other.
Alexie is trying to tell his readers, even though you may have fought in the past, that doesn t
mean you need to not care for each other. I really like this idea because I believe it is what
everyone should do. Be there for them. If I were Victor, at this point I would say sorry to Thomas
for not talking to him and be better friends with him that they were before.... Show more content on

I really like this idea because it makes you pay attention and really understand the novel. Alexie
uses allegory in the quote demonstrating how James s voice acts as a savior. He refers to his
voice to a thick rug to save even the most beautiful and delicate things. I believe the author uses
this to show that James may be about to help Victor or maybe be with his as a fallback just like
how he caught the glass with his voice. This also reflects off of the theme of being spiritual.
Alexie might be trying to just show how Indians really were or are. I really don t understand
what is happening here because it seems to be just a whole bunch of short stories that have very
little to do anything with each other. I really dislike this idea because it just makes the whole
novel seem confusing and hard to understand. In this quote, Alexie uses symbolic as the literary
device. He says the black circle looks like a smoke hole and that is used when there is a fire.
Most people get hot when mad and need to vent. I believe the studio is more of a venting ground
than anything. The author may have put this here to symbolize how relaxing or stress reliving the

Different forms of art have been around since the beginning of time. Art, comes from a cultures
specific way of life that has been passed down from generations. Art helps mold people into
creative individuals. It helps people stand out, be their own person, and increase their
imagination. Art surrounds us from the time we are young children to adults. As a young child,

Art Education Programs may not bring in enough money to help provide the programs with new
supplies and equipment. Even though there may be a shortage of money, the students should be

may cost $3 to attend and only 10 people may show up. A sports event may cost $3 to attend, but
more than half the school attends, including parents, sports fans and coaches. In an online article,
Arsenault (2009) concludes that It s fair to generalize that athletics last longer. They are universally

  • 2. Things Fall Apart Tragic Hero Essay Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart , is a classic postcolonial novel about a man named Okonkwo who was a well known man in his village in Nigeria. He is a man that has a very thin temper and is portrayed as a tragic hero, Okonkwo fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero pretty well. Okonkwo s demise was ultimately caused by his fatal flaw. A cultural identity crisis had little to no minimal impact on his demise; rather, his fatal flaw of a bad temper and fear of being thought of as weak had the biggest impact on his demise. Aristotle s conception of a tragic hero includes that he is a character of a noble or high status, Okonkwo fits this because, Okonkwo was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. . He also has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Okonkwo doesn t fully fit this, while he does have both positive and negative qualities, his negative qualities outweigh his positive. Some of his positive qualities are he s physically strong, he s successful and he s an honorable man. Some of his negative qualities are he has a really quick temper, he is full of pride, he s a weak minded person and he does things solely based upon how he feels and doesn t think things through. In the novel Okonkwo can t control his temper or anger very well. He is an abusive and weak man who does terrible things just to ensure that he isn t seen as weak, which coincidentally makes him a weak person. The character has a fatal flaw. Okonkwo fits this since the things that led him to his downfall are his fatal flaws of a bad temper and fear of weakness. He killed Ikemefuna because he was afraid that the men would think he was weak, Dazed with fear, Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. He was afraid of being thought weak. He beats his wives and shot and one because his temper gotten out of control. A tragic hero is classified as one with a large capacity of suffering, Okonkwo fits this for the most part ... • 3. Similarities Between Good Night And Good Luck I think that the issues presented in the movie Good Night and Good Luck are important to the history of television because Ed Murrow had the courage to step up and challenge senator of Wisconsin Joseph McCarthy about many of the issues that were going on in the early 1950. Murrow was brave enough to report that people rights were being violated by not providing enough evidence and judging them. For example the lady that was in court for supposable ties with communism and was fired from her job without further investigation. In addition, he also reported about the air force officer that was dismissed from the air force just because his dad had ties with communist. This officer didn t even had the opportunity to have a fair trial he was found guilty without any evidence. I think that this journalist made history because he presented the real issues that were going on in the real world without being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were harassed or threaten to lose their sponsorship to their programming if they didn t follow directions. However Murrow s honesty and courage was stronger than the harassment made about him losing his job if he continued to report on controversial issues. Another thing that I also found interesting how people didn t have the right to a fair hearing during that mandate of McCarthy. I just think that it was very unfair to many people that were accused of having ties with communist or being a communist because they would lose their job without further investigation. Furthermore, I also found interesting how a Joe and Shirley couldn t work together because they married and it was against policy rules. They had to hide their marriage from everyone to avoid being fired from their job. I just found this very unfair because there was not conflict of interest since they both worked as reporters and neither one had higher authority over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mgt 311 Week 4 Dead Load Analysis Week 4 Dead load refers to the load of the structure itself while live load refers to the maximum load that can be applied to the bridge before it stops being static. When taking in to account the information gained in week 3 regarding the distance between applied forces and their reaction it is made apparent that taking the live load of a structure into account becomes more complex. For example a group of hikers walking across a bridge spaced out from each other will cause a significantly different reaction when compared to the same group of hikers gathering together on a single section of the bridge to take a photo. Week 6 If a structure is in static equilibrium, then any portion or segment of it must also be in static equilibrium. With this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kadelphianism at Texas Christian University Essay Psychologists often refer to the period of life known as adolescence as one of the most difficult stages of development that an individual will endure. It has been stated that adolescence is the time when an individual forms his/her own sense of identity. A sense of identity is defined as an organized sense of how our own personality traits, values, and beliefs fit together in defining who we are. Therefor, the development of a sense of identity is, in fact, the basis for a stable adult personality. Certain responsibilities accompany this development of an identity, such as the commitments quot;to oneself, to one s family, to significant others, and to the various subgroups in society of which one is a member. quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The founders believed in unselfish service to mankind, and they felt that personal leadership requires confidence tempered with humility and tolerance. The rituals of Kadelphianism are also quite simple and pure in nature. With Frog Fountain serving as a center for all activity, the Kadelphian students meet on a bi weekly basis; during these meetings there is an opening prayer session, a candle lighting ceremony, and an open discussion or forum involving all of the students present. In Daniel 9:24, the following verse reveals the first step of the Lord s plan Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.... His first piece of advice was teaching us how having knowledge in the military is an important quality that a prince can achieve. Second a person should be a true friend and a true enemy. Thirdly Machiavelli says do not be generous with your money, you ll just have to tax harder and you ll lose the support of your citizens. Fourthly in order for a prince to keep his power he must avoid the hatred of his people. Lastly most of our traits that we learn come from human nature and we should use these traits to the best of our ability. Machiavelli wrote a manual on how to rule and govern during the Italian Renaissance. The Italian Renaissance has taken place several years ago, in today s contemporary society the world is different now. Machiavelli believed it was better to feared than love. • 26. The Ministers Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne Many romantic writers focused on the gothic side of romantic literature, from quirky to evil they tend to draw emotions from the viewer. The focused material is The Ministers Black Veil , written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In the text Mr. Hooper is a preacher who is engaged to Elizabeth and has recently started hiding his face behind a black veil. The townspeople begin to think he s gone mad. He is very loving and caring, but known as living his life without much worries and being a sinful man. While wearing the veil, he preaches and then is buried in it. Before he dies the only person who is not afraid to question Mr. Hooper about the veil is his fiancГ©. He does not give Elizabeth a clear answer to wearing the veil, which forces Elizabeth to believe he s covering up a committed sinby wearing the veil. Throughout Hawthorne s work there were different actions that his characters portray. These characters are identified as puritans who fought inner demons between lies and their sanity. In other opinions one may refute that Hawthorne s purpose of hiding Mr. Hooper under the veil is just his way of dealing with what he is going through. Hooper does not search for deliverance from his sorrows; instead he resolves to live his life as best he can while dealing with them, a stance that leaves no room for unpredictable deliverance from God (Buchanan 6). Here it states that Hooper is dealing with his issues, even though from the outside he is portraying something else. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would prefer that our country uses economic sanctions whenever possible to be diplomatic. This might not always be possible if the enemy does not comply, so military intervention might be necessary in some cases. It is essential that our country stays out of unnecessary wars. Tight hamstrings cause difficulty in touching your toes, and this can lead to problems in the lower back. The practice of yoga offers wonderful ways to stretch your hamstrings, but it is also possible to overstretch the hamstrings muscles. The best way to prevent overstretching the hamstrings is by also practicing asanas that strengthen the hamstrings. One of the most intense hamstrings stretches is hasta padangusthasana (supine hand to toe stretch). This pose can be done with a strap, or using your arm after you have been stretching your hamstrings for a while. It is easy to overstretch the hamstrings in this pose, so it is important to breath deeply and not push too hard. Along with poses that stretch the hamstrings, it is important to mix poses that strengthen the hamstrings. A nice way to begin class or your private practice and help strengthen the hamstrings is with the Warrior series. Both virabhadrasana I and II (warrior I and II) help strengthen the hamstrings. Try spending a longer time in warrior II, because it is easier for most students to go deeper into the pose and feel their hamstrings in warrior II. Setu bandha sarvangasana (bridge pose) is a relaxing way to focus primarily on the hamstrings and back, and purvottansana (inclined plane) is a more active but similar stretch. Salabhasana (locust pose) strengthens the hamstrings and also stretches the upper spine at the same time. • 33. Family System Theory Research The family system theory is a micro level theory that views the family as a working unit that achieves goals, makes important decisions, and works out problems together. One of the purposes of this theory is to investigate how individuals interact with their family members. Maintaining equilibrium in a familyis one of the most important parts of the family system theory. It states that family members will alter themselves to adapt to difficult situations that are causing the equilibrium to break apart (Benokraitis 40). My family consists of my two parents, me, and my three younger sisters. Sometimes our personalities clash, especially between my parents and my second youngest sibling. My sibling is stubborn and instigates fights which, in turn, causes my parents frustration and anger. Using the family system theory, I can understand why my parents must change their approach to all their daughters. However, my parents fight frequently around my siblings and I. Hearing them fight all the time has made communicating throughout the family difficult because on top of the fighting they verbally put us down. Having that stress around our family changes how we approach one another. When my parents fight, most of the time it is to gain back equilibrium like the family system theory says.... Several projects are given as a group effort, therefore students must complete this task efficiently with their group, or everyone s average in that group will decrease greatly every time a similar task consisting of group work is assigned. Many teachers group the students according to their ability, and some don t. While many disagree with this technique, I oppose this statement. I believe that students should be grouped by ability because it is equitable, non stressful, and will act as a wake up call for some students. No doubt, grouping the students according to their ability is equitable because everyone in the group will contribute an equal amount of work without involving an adult in the situation. They proclaim portions of which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never mentioned or any other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more likely to send healthy mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted gospel. • 41. Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Nightmare By Sherman Alexie In this quote, Alexie uses foreshadowing as a literary device. Flashbacks show what is important in the past and how it reflects the future. While Thomas and Victor were/are kids they got into a fight and stopped talking. Now Thomas is helping Victor. Although this is a flashback, it may also be interpreted as a hint of Victor and Thomas being friends again and help each other. Alexie is trying to tell his readers, even though you may have fought in the past, that doesn t mean you need to not care for each other. I believe the author uses this to show that James may be about to help Victor or maybe be with his as a fallback just like how he caught the glass with his voice. This also reflects off of the theme of being spiritual. Alexie might be trying to just show how Indians really were or are. I really don t understand what is happening here because it seems to be just a whole bunch of short stories that have very little to do anything with each other. I really dislike this idea because it just makes the whole novel seem confusing and hard to understand. In this quote, Alexie uses symbolic as the literary device. He says the black circle looks like a smoke hole and that is used when there is a fire. Most people get hot when mad and need to vent. I believe the studio is more of a venting ground than anything. Not Making the Cut Art Education Programs may not bring in enough money to help provide the programs with new supplies and equipment.
