Mini Essay on Family Relations
Mini Essay on Family Relations
A family is a connection between people either by adoption, blood or marriage. In the three stories
read in class many of the family members are emotionally detached from each other. Emotional
detachment is when a person avoids making connections with those in his/her personal and social
round. The members in Louisa, Walter and Paul s families show emotional detachmenttowards
Louisa, Walter and Paul because their family members do not understand them nor do they wantto.
Louisa s mother, from Shirley Jackson s short story, Louisa Please Come Home, is emotionally
detached from Louisa because she does not share a mother daughter connection with her. Louisa
s mother continuously buys clothes for her even though she does not like them. Her mother
picked [the coat] which she wants Louisa to wear (49). Admittedly, Louisa s mother shows
emotional detachment towards Louisa because she does not ask her daughter what she would
like to wear. Moreover, Louisa s mother should already know Louisa s fashion sense. Most
mothers know their children s likes and dislikes because they love their children and do not
want to upset them. Since Louisa s family does not pay attention towards Louisa s needs, she
feels neglected. This pushes her to run away, which shows that Louisa s family is not close
enough to begin with. In fact, Louisa s mother does not care for Louisa s opinion and does not
give her freedom of choice. Her mother s behaviour leads Louisa to be

Exothermic Reaction Lab Report
An Exothermic reaction releases heat which causes the temperature of the surroundings to increase.
An endothermic reaction absorbs heat and cools the surrounding. (UC DAVIS CHEM WIKI
organisation, 2015) W Reactants in exothermic reactions covert chemical energy to heat energy
which causes the temperature to rise. Reactants gain energyin the endothermic process which comes
from the substances used in the reaction and the reaction gets cold. Eventually, heat is absorbed
from the surroundings and the mixture returns to room temperature. These reactions can be divided
by chemical reactionand physical reaction. Chemical reactions are chemicals or substances which
change to one or more other substances. While, physical reaction includes a change... Show more

This can be divided in a single and double displacement reaction. (Anne Marie Helmenstine, 2015)
Potassium equation contains four elements: K, Cl, H and O. On the products side CI is reacting
with the H and the K with an OH. Thus, there has been switching between the compounds. This is
a double displacement reaction. If we compare that to Mg+ HCl where you get MgCl2 +H2 which
is a single displacement reaction because only the Cl has switched between the compounds.
CONCLUSION
The aim was to conduct, observe and record whether chemical reactions are exothermic or
endothermic. It was hypothesized that experiment 1 and 2 will be exothermic because each
experiment involves a chemical element and water reacting, which means giving off heat. On the
other hand, experiment 3 and 4 will be endothermic since cold reaction products start to gain heat
from the surroundings, eventually coming back to room temperature. This was supported by the
changes in temperature as shown in the results. This also determined that experiments 1 and 2 were
exothermic and experiments 3 and 4 were endothermic. Therefore, my hypothesis was

Argumentative Essay About Car Movies
Well you ve got car movies with action and speed and then you ve got car movies with REAL
action and speed. I am watching Fast and the Furious right now on the USA network, its a good
movie plenty of action and speed. But how much of it is digitized and how much of it is real. Gone
in 60 seconds my favorite Nicholas Cage movie and as I understand he done alot of the driving so
this was one of my top movies until I seen the 1974 original. With a guy by the name of H.B.
Halicki doing all the driving no computer generation on the stunts. If you do some searches you can
find alot of good some really good car movies most of which were made in the seventies except for
a few. So here are my top car pick movies If you don t have either of these don t... Show more

Driving by dealerships on the way to work every morning I see people with hands on the back of
their heads standing in those car lots looking. They go from car to car, pointing and shrugging. I
recently found myself in the same position this week. The search I need a new car, but I m not a
car guy. I don t have a classic 1968 Ford Mustang, nor can I afford a brand new Benz or Lexus.
Honestly, to me a car is a means. I need to get places, there s no subway where I live and buses
just don t cut it. As much as I hate it, I need a car and the one I am driving now is ready to die. I
didn t always feel that way. Starting my search I asked Google what he thought. In return, I had
lists of this past years top cars in order of safety, gas mileage, price. It was like looking at toy cars
on the shelf of a store. I didn t see any difference between them and had no better idea of what I
wanted. Asking coworkers, they could only tell me what they disliked, saying, Don t get a Ford,
unless you want to fix or repair it daily, or Don t get a Chevy, it s not worth it. Well, then what do
I get? Like those people I see on my way into the rote, I started making my rounds at the
dealerships: Ford, Chevy, Acura, Toyota. I spoke to salesmen and they worked hard to convince
me I needed which ever car we looked at. Last weekend, I weighed the prices, the mileage, and
the possibility beside colors and payments and features. I came out with nothing and felt like I
was less sure. I eyed an economic hybrid, thinking maybe I could buy a nice green Prius; or go for
a retro look and get a Dodge Charger, so I could rev with a little power. This and that: apples,
oranges, it was all the same to me. I broke down and asked my wife, What should I get? All she
could say was, You are you going to disagree with whatever I suggest. When she showed me the
link to a Chrysler Minivan, I had to admit she was right. The Memory When I was sixteen I bought

Martin Luther s Reformation Research Paper
There has always been religion on earth probably as long as man has been, throughout every
walk of life. During the 6th century institutional church reach a new high of lows. In a sense it
could be considered corrupt or impure. This was a time where sin was relieved from you by the
act of purchasing indulgences, or making a pilgrimage. This led many pure at heart question the
framework of their churches. Most notably when the Church of Rome pushed selling indulgences
to collect money for the rebuilding of Saint Peters cathedral. This led to extreme criticism,
especially to those who held the aristolic ideals close to heart. With all that was going on, the
movement needed a face, a person to take the thoughts and feelings many had and put it out to the
world without holding back. The backbone of this reformation was left to the son of a coal miner,
Martin Luther[1483 1546]. He chose to discontinue his pursuit in the study of law and became an
Augustinian monk. From then on, as a doctor of theology at the University of Wittenberg, he spoke
in opposition of the church. Providing extreme sermons and essays that offered solutions to what he
says as the misery and wretchedness of Christendom. Luther strongly believed that sin was part of
being human. Yet the way you seek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What he created was a list of his indifferences with the church that challenged much of the way they
went about. He then posted this list on the doors to the cathedral of Wittenberg, where it began to
snowball through the press and avalanched all throughout Europe, then letting everyone see what
Luther has challenged the Church of Rome with. His views in my mind were those of a clear
minded and pure hearted man. Sticking to the scripture which founded church he reminded many
the underlying roots from which their beliefs were founded. He encouraged the reading of the bible
to his followers and even translated the Old and New Testament into

United States Involvement For Terrorism And Spreading...
In 2003 the USA attacked Iraq. Washington s official account of the reasons to invade Iraq was
centred on the argument that Iraq is a threat to its neighbours as well as to the USA. This was
due to Iraq supposedly having WMDs and seeking for nuclear weapons and Saddam being
unpredictable and irrational actor. Furthermore, it was argued that Saddam supports terrorists and
could give WMDs to them. It was USA s mission to bring democracy and freedom to the Iraqi
people (Hudson, 2005: 298 299). Some scholars support the official account as the real reason for
the invasion, but there are many critical scholars. Some of them advance the theory that behind the
attack was the urge to protect Israel or the effect that pro Israeli voices have in... Show more content

In the same speech he promised the continuation of war on terror (Bush, 2002). It was stressed by
Condoleezza Rice, who was the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, that Iraq
was unwilling to cooperate with the UN inspectors and that Iraq was lying about its assumed
WMDs (Rice, 2002). Bush, Rice and other members of the administration made clear that Iraq
was dangerous because of its WMDs and therefore Iraq should be invaded. It was also stated in the
Joint Resolution that authorised the war that Iraq had WMDs, seeked nuclear weapons and was a
threat to the USA (H.R.J. Res. 114, 2002).
However, if WMDs and noncooperation with UN inspectors made Iraq such a huge threat, it has
to be asked why Egypt and Israel, for example, were not attacked. For example, Israel has not
ratified the Nonproliferation Treaty or the 1972 biological and toxic weapons convention and Egypt
has not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention (Hubbel, 1998). Moreover, in general, it is not
only Saddam Hussein who has murdered thousands and defied UN resolutions. The USA, however,
is not seriously planning to attack those other states (Mearsheimer and Walt, 2003).
David Dunn argues that this is, when it comes to North Korea, because the administration believes
that North Korea is militarily strong enough to deter the USA, but Iraq is not and Iraq has to be
stopped before it is, too. (Dunn, 2003: 286) Even if this was true for all the states in the

French And Indian War Dbq
Answer: The French and Indian War was a greater grand war between Great Britain and France. It
was begun in 1754 and completed with the Treaty of Paris. The war gave Great Britain gigantic
local increments in North America, yet differences about subsequent outskirts approach and paying
the war s expenses provoked colonial discontent, and finally to the American Revolution. The
French and Indian War occurred due to nonstop outskirts strains in North America as both French
and British regal powers and colonists hoped to increase each country s scope of conspicuousness in
boondocks areas. In North America, the war set France, French colonists, and their Native
accomplices against Great Britain, the Anglo American colonists, and the Iroquois Confederacy,...

Battling in Europe finished after a fizzled Spanish attack of British associate Portugal. By 1763,
French and Spanish ambassadors started to look for peace. In the subsequent Treaty of Paris, Great
Britain secured noteworthy regional increases in North America, including all French territory east
of the Mississippi stream, and Spanish Florida, despite the fact that the treaty returned Cuba to
Spain. Prior to the war, the estimation of their association with Great Britain was self evident. With
its decision, this never again was valid; it now appeared that a proceeded with reliance upon the

Comparing Emerson And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson says There is a time in every man s education when he arrives at the
conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide. This quote is immensely true you
should always be true to yourself and you shouldn t envy people you don t really know that
much about. You should stay true to yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are
killing yourself figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows
who you really are so your soul is dead to others. They would just see that you are like everyone
else or like someone else in particular and then you will be compared to the other person which
isn t what people usually want. If someone were to compare you to someone and you are just off
there in the corner hearing this and they are saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so
and you are just like no I m me , but you have no proof because what they are saying is true. Your
inner self would never be known to people if you like to hide away and just do what it is popular
they we ll see you as just no one special and everyone wants to have something different about
them that s what makes people awesome there is not two of the same exact people, so why would

Irish Hibernophobia
Though most Irish emigrants left their homes in search of a better lives free from persecution, those
who settled in the United States typically found equal levels of persecution yet, chose to remain
stateside because of the opportunities for work and the new found sense of community among Irish
immigrants in the United States. The first immigrant to enter the United States through Ellis Island,
Annie Moore, was a 15 year old from County Cork. Since the colonial times, Irish immigrants have
been ever present in the United States; however, also ever present is hibernophobia, or anti Irish
sentiment.
From the Norman Invasion in the late 12th century until the formation of the Irish Free State in
1922, Ireland was either under direct English rule or subject to direct British political
involvement. Under British rule, the Irish were stereotyped as stupid, half human savages and
later, as lazy, idle drunkards (Judd). Not so much changed in terms of hibernophobia for those
who left Ireland for the United States. In fact, several new stereotypes were born. The Irish were
again labeled lazy drunkards, an ironic stereotype because of the contradicting occupational
stereotypes of the Irish being policemen, lawyers, firefighters, and bartenders which are well
paying, steady jobs that could not be held by lazy drunkards. The Irish were also stereotyped as
violent because of the prevalence of usually criminal gangs such as the Dead Rabbits and The
Westies and events such as Bloody

New Jim Crow Laws Essay
As of 2010, thirteen and a half percent (13 ВЅ%) of all African Americans comprise the U.S.
population. Look back one hundred to two hundred (100 200) years ago, the African American
population has gone through strife. The real question is still pending, is it much easier for
African American during the pre Civil Rights Movement Era that now? My opinion is that it is
better. The reason why I coined my opinion is to show that there have been stops in racial caste,
media creating propaganda, and blacks advancing in parts of the world. By producing these
parts, I will introduce the idea that the African American life has evolved for the better. In the

The Importance Of Barriers To Voting
There are historical and contemporary barriers to voting, including the time frame people can
register to vote, implementation of mandatory identification regulations, social services agencies
fail to carry out responsibility to make voter registration opportunities available, people with
criminal convictions, people who go to the poll often face suppression tactics and intimidation,
and use of provisional ballots. There are many obstacles preventing American from voting which
is nothing new. People lack access to get identification. The National Voter Registration Act is a
law passed to make voter registration available. Many people with criminal convictions are not
aware of their eligibility to register to vote. The right to vote can be challenged by people sitting
out at the polling locations trying to pursue people to change their vote before voting. Some
provisional ballots (used to record a vote when there are questions about a given voter s eligibility)
are rejected during elections. All one of the main barriers is due to the statistical sample of
prospective voters the media telling who is ahead during elections. The trouble with this census
taking of public opinion is that it sometimes discourage people from voting if they thinks that their
favorite candidate is 30 percent ahead or 30 percent behind (Schneider, 1996). Low level of
education, high rates attainment of poverty, lack of media attention to practical political issues,
young population, low

The Rights Of The Civil War
The democracy we know today would not exist without an evolution of liberties and freedoms. The
advancement of freedoms resulted from the changes in the British government. Moving from the
Civil War to the Revolution, there are several forms of liberties presented. Before colonization, the
first signs of freedom can be seen in the Magna Carta. The signed Magna Carta prevented the
tyrannical monarch King John. W from abusing his powers (Synan). Feeling threatened by John s
powers, Englishmen formed a regulation known as Habeas Corpus, which would protect
themselves from unjust persecutions. Habeas Corpus allows the accused a right to a trial before
prosecution. Englishmen were finally taking a stand for their freedom when they created this law.
Habeas Corpus could be seen as the first sign of democracys formation (Synan). Still, Habeas
Corpus constitutes a large part of today s democracy. Englishmen were finally beginning to
understand government should have power limitations.
As leaders turned over, King Charles began to rule over England. Both him and his wife Henrietta,
a disciple of Christianity, caused great animosity toward the King (Stax 96). Not only was the man
hated for his religious practices but, he also ruled with divine rights. Meaning, King Charles ruled
through God s actions. In a society established on Protestantism, Englishmen felt Christians were
untrustworthy beings (Synan). Discovering a sense liberty, but more so, a religious freedom, the

because they have not kept up the changes because they are used to their old ways. The research
that North and Fiske accomplished showed enough evidence that our elderly are an inconvenienced

conclusion made by the authors is that society s treatment of ageism should become prime research

Things Fall Apart Vs Nature
The idea of man versus something in the world is not foreign to most. A lot of the time a person
can find another groaning or complaining about something going on or happening. When in true
reality, there was nothing that person could do about it. The largest opponent that man has gone,
and is going, against is nature itself. Nature can do, visually, almost anything to mankind; however,
man still tries their hardest to defy and go against nature. In Things Fall Apart, the people of
Umuofia and other places use gods and goddesses as a way to describe what nature does to them.
They say the gods and goddesses will punish for misdemeanors or reward for virtues. In all honesty

Colonization of America
When the Europeans had discovered America, the possibilities for them were endless. Although
mistakenly discovered, it greatly aroused the curiosity of many European explorers. There were
new opportunities for them to expand, and in more than just one way. Chances to spread religion,
boost their economy, and help themselves politically. As soon as Columbus returned, the pope
issued a decree saying the world itself was an inheritance of Christianity. Spainand Portugal, the
two main Christian powers at the time, set out to spread Christianity all across the world following
the Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494. What better place to start then with the new found land of the
Americas. As soon as the Europeans figured out a reason, they began... Show more content on

This created a large amount of wealth, and more and more markets and ports began to appear across
America. A supply had been created and demand followed, creating economic success. Merchants
and their ships increased and carried materials such as cloth and wool between European and
American ports, and an economic boom with a steady population increase to show for it. This
pushed exploration further in all directions, and they now had plenty of reasons to continue
expansion. From the initial dominance of Christianity to the Protestant Reformation, religious cause
for navigating toward America suited both sides. The political causes were justified in the
monarchies interest in the new land, creating a way to expand their control, but eventually leading
to war among one another. Economically, the Europeans benefited extremely well, and for that
reason alone gave them a strong incentive for colonization in America. The three causes all relate
with one another, and one cause relies heavily on another. The Europeans exploration had not
expected to encounter such an opportunity, but with it came the success that eventually laid out the
plans of America to be something beyond what they thought

In this religion, their main worships are God and many Loas. A Loa is a God and a good spirit
in the Voodoo religion. Aside from believing in the many Loas, Voodoo is mainly a monotheist
religion. Voodooists also believe in reincarnation. To them, there is no good or bad place to go
after someone passes away. This is because they believe that they will live another life. A person
s life influences what will happen to them in their next live. For example, if someone has spent
their life as a good and honest person, they will ascend to Loa and have the opportunity and power
to shape the world. Where, if someone lived a misbehaved life, the person would live a new cycle
of life and be given every opportunity to change the outcome of what will happen to them after
death. If their angry life repeats itself, they will be physically or spiritually punished by Loa.
Voodoo Loas are to be strictly broken down into two groups, Rada Loas and Petro Loas. The Rada
Loas are considered to be the good Loas and serve creation, socialization, and life. The Petro Loas
are considered to be a group of demons who are responsible for harmful sorcery. In some cases,
Voodooists believe that a Loa could be considered both Rada and Petro, but they are usually
convinced otherwise. A Voodoo Loa is a God in which Voodooists believe in as well as an

Case Study Between Push And Pull System
Problem statement:
It is notify here that when a production system runs by the adoption of entire Push system , then it
leads to the maximum inventory holding cost and minimum lost sale cost. It also represents the
inflexibility of the manufacturing environment in terms of less variety of products. On the other
hand, if it works entirely on Pull system , then it results in the maximum lost sale cost and
minimum inventory holding costs for a manufacturing environment. Also, lead times are more in
terms of delays in Pull system . So, it is required to create the balance between these costs. For this,
our study compiles with the minimization of lost sale and holding cost by the implementation of
Push Pull system which is the integration of both Push and Pull systems in a single manufacturing
environment.
When it is the matter of the production line, then it is also very important that how long has been

The Roaring Twenties By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Roaring Twenties were a time of leisure and parties. The media and events surrounding this
time period greatly impacted the carefree, extravagant lifestyle. This era was one of the most
dramatic and energetic times in American history. To many, the symbols of the roaring Twenties
were F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, due to their tales of the young and the wealthy (Hanson 96).
The Roaring Twentiesinfluenced many literary works, throughout the 1920s such as F. Scott
Fitzgeralds The Great Gatsbyand This Side of Paradise.
At the start of the 1920s, prohibition had just begun, banning the purchase, sale, and
manufacture of alcohol. This actually had adverse effects as people began to make their own
alcohol and sell it illegally (Hanson 96). World War I had also recently ended, and soldiers were
coming home to a recession in the U.S. The end of the war meant a drop in government
spending and exports. Business bankruptcies tripled between 1919 and 1920. Many businesses
were forced to cut wages and lay off workers (McDonnell 296). As the 1920 recession came to an
end, Americans had more leisure time and money to spare (353). By 1922 the economy had fully
rebounded and there was even a shortage of workers (319). World War I fueled the fire of
American s suspicions of foreigners (McDonnell 296). The Red Scare had Americans paralyzed by
the fear of a possible communist infiltration (301). Along with foreign intolerance, racial intolerance

Russian Organized Crime Essay
Russian Organized Crime (ROC)
The term Russian organized crime (ROC) refers to criminal groups from the 15 republics which
comprised the former Soviet Union. ROC has existed for 20 years in the United States but during
the last five years law enforcement authorities have observed a distinct increase in their criminal
activities. Criminals from the former Soviet Union have established their networks in major cities
and are also emerging in some smaller cities. ROC groups are involved in murder, money
laundering, extortion, auto theft, weapons smuggling, narcotics trafficking, prostitution,
counterfeiting currency, and a multitude of complex fraud schemes.

This group existed throughout the Soviet era and is a formidable threat there today.
Ivankov spent approximately ten years in a Russian prison before bribing his way out. Russian
authorities speculated that Ivankov came to the United States to organize the existing networks of
Russian criminals operating within the United States, including California. He was arrested in June
1995 in New York for attempting to extort $3.5 million from an investment firm operated by two
Russian Г©migrГ©s. In January 1997, Ivankov was sentenced to over nine years in prison for
conspiracy to commit extortion.
Law enforcement authorities have identified varying levels of organization and sophistication
among these criminal networks, ranging from professional organizations with an identifiable
structure to loosely aligned criminal networks and amateur criminals who periodically assist in
criminal activities. The professional groups generally have an established allegiance to a leader
and follow a criminal code. Prior to passage of the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970, the
investigation and prosecution of organized criminal groups had not been conducted in a
coordinated manner. Congress passed RICO with the specific intent of combating the infiltration of
organized crime into legitimate businesses. Providing a wide range of criminal and civil sanctions
to control organized criminal activities, prosecutors employ RICO to imprison heads of crime

Consequently, operation expense and overhead expense can be alleviated in companies which used

3.2. Increment competency in companies Handling a variety of HR activities besides the core
activity by employers would not bring useful consequences for organisations. Thus, by outsourcing,
they can concentrate on their core competence which might be included in the application of
various policies in different businesses. For instance, as stated by Belcourt (2006) designing
products is one of the major activities in NIKE. Contracting out non core HR tasks provides free
time for managers to pay more attention and attempt to the value added activities such as leadership

Percival Bartlebooth Is An English Millionaire
Percival Bartlebooth is an English millionaire who realizes as a young man that his wealth has
doomed him to a life of boredom. He decides to study watercolor with Serge Valene for 10 years,
although he has no talent for painting. Accompanied by a servant, he sets out on a 20 year voyage
around the world with the intention of painting watercolors of 500 different harbors. The entire
book is constructed like a jigsaw puzzle. Perec uses an apartmentbuilding in Paris as the
background and writes 99 short chapters, in addition to a preamble that is repeated twice, and an
epilogue, to detail each room as well as the lives of all the buildings residents, past and present.
When he finishes a painting, he sends it to a man who also lives in the apartment building,

chronological order. The painting is then sent to the place where it was originally painted. There
it is dipped into chemicals that eliminate every trace of the painting. However, Winckler made
the puzzles too difficult, and Bartlebooth does not live long enough to finish all 500. As Perec

Benedict suggested that the isolation of monks from the society was essential for the following
reason. The founders of monasticism recognized that secular society functions both to encourage
the pursuit of sex, power and possessions and to limit the potential destructiveness of these pursuits
. Therefore, the Western monastic life provided the alternative: Instead of the pursuit of sex, the
monks vowed celibacy; instead of the pursuit of power, he vowed obedience; instead of seeking
possessions, he vowed poverty . In other words, the community both increases the pressure on the
monks to understand their own souls, and decreases the chances of temptation of sin that may be
provoked by the society. In addition, the complete Isolation of the community from the society also
provides support and encouragement for the distinctive religious practice. Benedict required a life
of obedience for monks that live within Western community, stability of residence and moral
straggle. The abbot was to be chosen by the monks; once chosen, he had full authority over all
decisions relating to the monastery and the individuals within it . In other words, the obedience,
humility and patience were supreme virtues of the monks. According to Benedict, the main duty of

How heteronormativity and media stereotypes influences how queer people express their sexualities

fundamental part in queer people s lives. Why do non queer people need for queer people and

In media, queer men and women are almost always portrayed in stereotypical roles, and bisexuality
is almost always expressed as a phase or not real. These ideas affect how others view queer
identities and how queer people view their own identity, and the social norms around them. Men
are commonly described as feminine whilst women are portrayed as masculine (Tara Sarper,
2013). How did these widespread ideas come to exist and how do they continue to affect members
of the community? These stereotypes can be harmful as they build a picture of what it means to be
a certain sexuality, as well as the heteronormativity behind the stereotype. We often see queer
people in relationships being asked who s the dominant one, the man in the relationship, the top,
etc. These ideas come from a heteronormative society that puts harmful misogynistic norms even in
relationships where women might not be present. Where does the overwhelming pressure for
there to be a man or top in the relationship come from, and why are those two associated with each
other? Since same sex relationships go against the norm in society, society still puts pressure on
heternormative ideas to be present in them. If two men decide they want to be exclusively a bottom
or top, dominant or submissive, in either their sexual relationship or in their general dynamic, that
is their choice and right to do so. However, a social constructionist would say

our advances, and mysterious as they are, they regularly crawl into our world. Sea turtles are
unique because they have the potential to affect our marine environment in many ways. But many
marine species are severely at risk of extinction. Sea turtles are endangered to live because of the
high amount of garbage in oceans and shore, the chemicals in the oceans, and human unawareness
about the turtles. While the problem of the decline of the sea turtles seems difficult... Show more

Overfishing and nutrient pollution of the seas have brought increasing blooms of jellyfish.
These blooms cause tourist beaches to close, clog cooling intakes at power plants, and burst our
trawl nets, but leatherbacks are loving it. (Our Sea Turtles) A leatherback concentrates in eating
jellies, including the nastier stinging ones. It is unbelievable how this unintended
environmental increase has influenced leatherback numbers. When most of the loggerheads
migrated into the Chesapeake Bay, it was because the food was disappearing and they feasted on
the bay s plenty of horseshoe crabs. Then, this primitive arthropod with no food appeal to
humans suddenly became commercially valuable as bait for eel and whelk traps. (Our Sea
Turtles) As the produce of horseshoe increased, their abundance declined, and loggerhead left
with more desperate to catch blue crabs. Loggerhead was enforced with another diet change
when over harvest in the Chesapeake blue crab fishery condensed this prey item as well.
Loggerhead in the bay became relying on the scavenging for fish bycatch or the dead remnants of
fish discarded by net fishers. (Our Sea Turtles) One of the biggest ecological challenges to sea
turtles in a changing world is where to nest. (Our Sea Turtles) Most of the seas are rising, and the
sea turtle s nests will go away. The

Roxanne Shante s Contribution To The Rise Of Rap
Rap is a genre of music which has been made with many forms of instrumentation such as
guitars, pianos, cellos, violins, drums, as well as recorded sounds and voices which are inserted
in the songs. Over the decades, there have been many influential, successful, talented, and even
iconic rappers who have paved the way for rappers in following generations. However, Rap has
become more than just music that people listen to, it has become a culture of its own that is
frequently and closely associated with drugs and gang violence. Although Rap music has only
been around since the 1970 s, the root form of rap music is thousands of years old and has made
rap into what it is today with a foundation resembling nothing related to rap. Thousands... Show

However, some of these rappers have witnessed the horrendous consequences of substance use
and addiction, and some have even experienced the aftermath of misuse and addiction first hand.
Since the 1980 s, rappers have used countless amounts of substance references in their lyrics,
praising drugs and alcohol for their favorable, pain numbing effects. For example, Snoop Dogg
has mentioned intoxication by drugs in many of his songs, including Gin and Juice which
contains lyrics about smoking indo, a slang term for marijuana. Despite the health risks of using
marijuana such as hallucinations and memory loss, rappers continue to promote and pay homage
to marijuana and its benefits. In the 2000 s, Xanax, Ecstasy, and Codeine would become more
popular drugs in rap music. In his song 56 Nights , contemporary rapper Future, claims to have
taken 56 Xanax pills in a month. Ecstasy, also known as Molly and MDMA, which is a synthetic
drug that contains mood changing properties, has also been frequently mentioned in rap lyrics.
After the release of Kanye West s hit song Mercy , which referred to Ecstasy, the National Institute
on Drug Abuse for Teens website had experienced an immense increase in the number of searches
for the term Molly. Another substance that has been mentioned a lot

Fibrodysplasia Research Paper
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva is a rare disease that over activates osteogenesis, or bone
formation. The disease may also be referred to as the stone man disease because it essentially
leads to the stiffening of the body, causing restricted mobility. Overall, the predisposition for
fibrodysplasia is extremely low for individuals worldwide, as it only affects 1 in 2 million people
(10). There seems to be no clear correlation of demographics of people suffering from FOP; the
genetic disorder occurs randomly. However, those who live with the disorder face a difficult
predicament.
To start, it is a congenital disorder, meaning noticeable symptoms or physical malformations occur
before birth. A common observable malformation signifying FOP at birth, are the abnormal
position and structure of the big toes (5). The disorder slowly consumes an individual s life by
adding bone to muscle tissue, and other areas not normally needing bone. This process is known as

There are treatments that can help sustain quality of life for individuals with FOP. For example,
steroids, such as glucocorticoids, can be used to help with relieving some mobility restrictions
related to the overabundance of bone on muscles (10). More specifically, these help minimize the
flare up effects on heterotopic osteogenesis. Other possible treatments may involve the creation of
inhibitors to block BMP pathway activity and signal transduction. Recently, Dorsomorphin, a signal
transduction inhibitor, was found to disable type 1 receptors, and prevent phosphorylation of
SMAD (10). However, it might be difficult to specifically target fibrodysplasia bone growth,
without also altering normal bone growth and repair. The overlap in systems is a challenging
obstacle to

What hell is a Nintendo? I got my first video game console in the summer of 1991. My parents
purchased it from SEARS for my birthday and at which point I had no idea what it was. A
couple of the kids and their parents knew that it was and were shocked that my parents spend
$100 dollars on something like that. It was still in the box until one afternoon I came home from

Microsoft released. With Nintendo taking a back step, PS4 only real competition was Xbox One.
Playstation 4 has not looked back since their launch date. By early February 2014 they have sold

History of Microsoft s gaming console Late 2001 Microsoft took its first steps in the gaming
industry. They announced their first gaming console to the world Xbox. Not since 1996 has, an
American company offered a gaming console. By early 2002, Xbox completed with all of the sixth
generation console Nintendo s GameCube, Sega s Dreamcast and Sony s Playstation 2. In all
honestly, Microsoft only real threat was Sony s Playstation 2; as both consoles were designed for
the advanced gamer.
With the launch of Xbox, Microsoft also ventures into the world of online gaming, with their
service Xbox Live. Unlike Sony s Playstation 2 and Sega s Dreamcast, Xbox Live charged a fee
to play online against players across the world and gave subscribers the ability to download

broadband connection. Before Xbox discontinued, it has sold 24 million units worldwide. Four later

Three Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising initiated in China, after the Chinese suffered many
devastating defeats at the hands of foreign powers. Originating in the 1900 s, a secret organisation
called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists, began carrying out attacks on Chinese
Christians and foreigners. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts
fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes.
The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering
humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant
concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the
West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty
stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity
and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that
were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s
balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the
innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . The Chinese
regarded the West as foreign devils , and wished to retain sovereignty and independence. They were
extremely nationalistic. Mark Twain addressed the boxer rebellion in 1900.

Essay On Jury Tampering
Jury tampering is when there is attempted influence on the decisions of a jury during the course of
a trial; this is a crime. It could be when jurors are intimidated or bribed into performing in a certain
manner while on duty. In the United Kingdom, non jury trials are allowed under the Criminal
Justice Act 2003 when there is risk of jurytampering.
Reform of The Jury
Despite its historical role in the English Legal System and the almost sacred place it occupies in
the public imagination, the jury has come under increasing attack in recent years. Reforms could
generally mean Acts of Parliament. A broad range of proposals have been suggested for the reform
of the jury system.
The 1999 Jury Proposals
The government declared its intentions to introduce legislation to control the right to jury trial.
Principally, in either way cases, it wished to disallow a defendant from insisting upon trial by jury
where magistrates believed that they were well suited to hear the case. The Bar, civil rights groups
and other lawyers condemned the proposed reform. The government then issued the Auld Report, in
order to review the whole criminal justice system. Its main recommendations on the jury system
were;

Law enforcement, in general, has to adapt to the neverending changes that it faces from the
criminal world. From cyber crimes to armed robberies, each crime committed have the common

enforcement community and assists law enforcement greatly in ascertaining intelligence of
criminals and give officers a possibility of locations, times, and possible crimes that will take
place, and precision is included to some of the intelligence gained by the officer. Among crimes,
suspects, and victims come the aftermath and repercussions of people that are entitled to their
opinions, regardless of the evidence of the case that differs from location to location (Wood, 2014).

Activism is regarded an act directed to cause or bring about changes in politics, social, economic or

There are various ways of engaging in activism. Mostly activism is associated with protests and

One of the greatly outlined problems in youth activism has been in the defining of their problems.
In most cases the youth loose the originality of the main issue at hand. I.e. they are essay deviated
and loose concentration essay. This dilutes the essence of activism, making it loose its sensibility.
This problem has been attributed to the lack of good political education systems within the
Australian community. Students in school are given very little knowledge about politics in school.
Therefore you find that people will only know politics as campaigns during the elections. This
brings to the conclusion that, its due to the lack of clear political information that people are not
able to make informed decisions even when it comes to the election of their leaders.
The generation X of the 1990s, agreed to the idea that the young generation only thinks about what
is to be of direct benefit to them rather than doing that is of benefit to the whole community. On the

Motivation And Management Theory Of Motivation Essay
In order to understand motivation in an organization and how it affects its employees and
management we must first understand what exactly motivation is. Motivation in an organization
encourages employees to work efficiently and in the best interest of the company; as the manager of
an organization one should start looking into why or how motivationis established. An organization
will not be as successful if their employees are unmotivated and they will likely have a high
turnover rate. This may be especially important in the upcoming years as more and more
millennials begin to enter into the workforce. On average people switch job at least 10 15 times
in their life and this trend is will mostly likely increase with millennials (Doyle). In my ethics
class we discussed how kids of my generation will make big changes to the way organizations are
run. Millennials may be motivated differently than the generation X workers. Motivation has
continually evolved and now there are different strategies on how to motivate employees. Frederick
Taylor, an engineer who pursued increasing efficiency in organizations, developed the scientific
management theory of motivation. He wanted to be able to figure out the most efficient way to
complete a task. He decided to break down tasks into the smallest possible units (Dininni). He
focused on how much work could be done in a certain amount of time. Taylor s management theory
asserts that organizations should identify the best way to

Difference Between Systole And Divert Flow To The Heart
2.The heart rate is controlled by the PNS, SNS, and endocrine glands.
3.The difference between systole and diastole is the pulse pressure. Systole is the contraction
phase, while diastole is the relaxation phase. Systolic blood pressure is the highest pressure on the
wall of the arteries. And the diastolic blood pressure is the lowest pressure, corresponding to when
the ventricles are filled with blood during diastole.
4.For blood to flow, there must be a difference in pressure at both ends. Blood flows from an area
of high to low pressure. The pressure difference is also created by the resistance in the blood
vessels themselves. Blood flow is compared to the pressure difference and resistance. So, pressure
drives the flow. And vasoconstriction and vasodilation divert flow to the regions that need it the
most.

6.During exercise these 3 mechanisms are important for returning blood to the heart. It is important
to have valves in the veins to prevent backflow and leakage. A muscle pump and a respiratory pump.

  • 2. Mini Essay on Family Relations Mini Essay on Family Relations A family is a connection between people either by adoption, blood or marriage. In the three stories read in class many of the family members are emotionally detached from each other. Emotional detachment is when a person avoids making connections with those in his/her personal and social round. The members in Louisa, Walter and Paul s families show emotional detachmenttowards Louisa, Walter and Paul because their family members do not understand them nor do they wantto. Louisa s mother, from Shirley Jackson s short story, Louisa Please Come Home, is emotionally detached from Louisa because she does not share a mother daughter connection with her. Louisa s mother continuously buys clothes for her even though she does not like them. Her mother picked [the coat] which she wants Louisa to wear (49). Admittedly, Louisa s mother shows emotional detachment towards Louisa because she does not ask her daughter what she would like to wear. Moreover, Louisa s mother should already know Louisa s fashion sense. Most mothers know their children s likes and dislikes because they love their children and do not want to upset them. Since Louisa s family does not pay attention towards Louisa s needs, she feels neglected. This pushes her to run away, which shows that Louisa s family is not close enough to begin with. In fact, Louisa s mother does not care for Louisa s opinion and does not give her freedom of choice. Her mother s behaviour leads Louisa to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Exothermic Reaction Lab Report An Exothermic reaction releases heat which causes the temperature of the surroundings to increase. An endothermic reaction absorbs heat and cools the surrounding. (UC DAVIS CHEM WIKI organisation, 2015) W Reactants in exothermic reactions covert chemical energy to heat energy which causes the temperature to rise. Reactants gain energyin the endothermic process which comes from the substances used in the reaction and the reaction gets cold. Eventually, heat is absorbed from the surroundings and the mixture returns to room temperature. These reactions can be divided by chemical reactionand physical reaction. Chemical reactions are chemicals or substances which change to one or more other substances. While, physical reaction includes a change... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be divided in a single and double displacement reaction. (Anne Marie Helmenstine, 2015) Potassium equation contains four elements: K, Cl, H and O. On the products side CI is reacting with the H and the K with an OH. Thus, there has been switching between the compounds. This is a double displacement reaction. If we compare that to Mg+ HCl where you get MgCl2 +H2 which is a single displacement reaction because only the Cl has switched between the compounds. CONCLUSION The aim was to conduct, observe and record whether chemical reactions are exothermic or endothermic. It was hypothesized that experiment 1 and 2 will be exothermic because each experiment involves a chemical element and water reacting, which means giving off heat. On the other hand, experiment 3 and 4 will be endothermic since cold reaction products start to gain heat from the surroundings, eventually coming back to room temperature. This was supported by the changes in temperature as shown in the results. This also determined that experiments 1 and 2 were exothermic and experiments 3 and 4 were endothermic. Therefore, my hypothesis was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am watching Fast and the Furious right now on the USA network, its a good movie plenty of action and speed. But how much of it is digitized and how much of it is real. Gone in 60 seconds my favorite Nicholas Cage movie and as I understand he done alot of the driving so this was one of my top movies until I seen the 1974 original. With a guy by the name of H.B. I recently found myself in the same position this week. The search I need a new car, but I m not a car guy. I don t have a classic 1968 Ford Mustang, nor can I afford a brand new Benz or Lexus. Honestly, to me a car is a means. I need to get places, there s no subway where I live and buses just don t cut it. As much as I hate it, I need a car and the one I am driving now is ready to die. I didn t always feel that way. Starting my search I asked Google what he thought. In return, I had lists of this past years top cars in order of safety, gas mileage, price. It was like looking at toy cars on the shelf of a store. I didn t see any difference between them and had no better idea of what I wanted. Asking coworkers, they could only tell me what they disliked, saying, Don t get a Ford, unless you want to fix or repair it daily, or Don t get a Chevy, it s not worth it. Well, then what do I get? Like those people I see on my way into the rote, I started making my rounds at the dealerships: Ford, Chevy, Acura, Toyota. I spoke to salesmen and they worked hard to convince me I needed which ever car we looked at. Last weekend, I weighed the prices, the mileage, and the possibility beside colors and payments and features. I came out with nothing and felt like I was less sure. I eyed an economic hybrid, thinking maybe I could buy a nice green Prius; or go for a retro look and get a Dodge Charger, so I could rev with a little power. This and that: apples, oranges, it was all the same to me. I broke down and asked my wife, What should I get? All she could say was, You are you going to disagree with whatever I suggest. • 5. Martin Luther s Reformation Research Paper There has always been religion on earth probably as long as man has been, throughout every walk of life. During the 6th century institutional church reach a new high of lows. In a sense it could be considered corrupt or impure. This was a time where sin was relieved from you by the act of purchasing indulgences, or making a pilgrimage. This led many pure at heart question the framework of their churches. Most notably when the Church of Rome pushed selling indulgences to collect money for the rebuilding of Saint Peters cathedral. This led to extreme criticism, especially to those who held the aristolic ideals close to heart. With all that was going on, the movement needed a face, a person to take the thoughts and feelings many had and put it out to the world without holding back. The backbone of this reformation was left to the son of a coal miner, Martin Luther[1483 1546]. He chose to discontinue his pursuit in the study of law and became an Augustinian monk. From then on, as a doctor of theology at the University of Wittenberg, he spoke in opposition of the church. Providing extreme sermons and essays that offered solutions to what he says as the misery and wretchedness of Christendom. Luther strongly believed that sin was part of being human. Washington s official account of the reasons to invade Iraq was centred on the argument that Iraq is a threat to its neighbours as well as to the USA. This was due to Iraq supposedly having WMDs and seeking for nuclear weapons and Saddam being unpredictable and irrational actor. Furthermore, it was argued that Saddam supports terrorists and could give WMDs to them. It was USA s mission to bring democracy and freedom to the Iraqi people (Hudson, 2005: 298 299). It was stressed by Condoleezza Rice, who was the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, that Iraq was unwilling to cooperate with the UN inspectors and that Iraq was lying about its assumed WMDs (Rice, 2002). Bush, Rice and other members of the administration made clear that Iraq was dangerous because of its WMDs and therefore Iraq should be invaded. It was also stated in the Joint Resolution that authorised the war that Iraq had WMDs, seeked nuclear weapons and was a threat to the USA (H.R.J. Res. 114, 2002). However, if WMDs and noncooperation with UN inspectors made Iraq such a huge threat, it has to be asked why Egypt and Israel, for example, were not attacked. For example, Israel has not ratified the Nonproliferation Treaty or the 1972 biological and toxic weapons convention and Egypt has not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention (Hubbel, 1998). Moreover, in general, it is not only Saddam Hussein who has murdered thousands and defied UN resolutions. The USA, however, is not seriously planning to attack those other states (Mearsheimer and Walt, 2003). David Dunn argues that this is, when it comes to North Korea, because the administration believes that North Korea is militarily strong enough to deter the USA, but Iraq is not and Iraq has to be stopped before it is, too. This quote is immensely true you should always be true to yourself and you shouldn t envy people you don t really know that much about. You should stay true to yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are killing yourself figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows who you really are so your soul is dead to others. They would just see that you are like everyone else or like someone else in particular and then you will be compared to the other person which isn t what people usually want. If someone were to compare you to someone and you are just off there in the corner hearing this and they are saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so and you are just like no I m me , but you have no proof because what they are saying is true. • 10. Irish Hibernophobia Though most Irish emigrants left their homes in search of a better lives free from persecution, those who settled in the United States typically found equal levels of persecution yet, chose to remain stateside because of the opportunities for work and the new found sense of community among Irish immigrants in the United States. The first immigrant to enter the United States through Ellis Island, Annie Moore, was a 15 year old from County Cork. Since the colonial times, Irish immigrants have been ever present in the United States; however, also ever present is hibernophobia, or anti Irish sentiment. From the Norman Invasion in the late 12th century until the formation of the Irish Free State in 1922, Ireland was either under direct English rule or subject to direct British political involvement. Under British rule, the Irish were stereotyped as stupid, half human savages and later, as lazy, idle drunkards (Judd). Not so much changed in terms of hibernophobia for those who left Ireland for the United States. In fact, several new stereotypes were born. The Irish were again labeled lazy drunkards, an ironic stereotype because of the contradicting occupational stereotypes of the Irish being policemen, lawyers, firefighters, and bartenders which are well paying, steady jobs that could not be held by lazy drunkards. The Irish were also stereotyped as violent because of the prevalence of usually criminal gangs such as the Dead Rabbits and The Westies and events such as Bloody ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Look back one hundred to two hundred (100 200) years ago, the African American population has gone through strife. The real question is still pending, is it much easier for African American during the pre Civil Rights Movement Era that now? My opinion is that it is better. The Importance Of Barriers To Voting There are historical and contemporary barriers to voting, including the time frame people can register to vote, implementation of mandatory identification regulations, social services agencies fail to carry out responsibility to make voter registration opportunities available, people with criminal convictions, people who go to the poll often face suppression tactics and intimidation, and use of provisional ballots. There are many obstacles preventing American from voting which is nothing new. People lack access to get identification. The National Voter Registration Act is a law passed to make voter registration available. Many people with criminal convictions are not aware of their eligibility to register to vote. The right to vote can be challenged by people sitting out at the polling locations trying to pursue people to change their vote before voting. Some provisional ballots (used to record a vote when there are questions about a given voter s eligibility) are rejected during elections. All one of the main barriers is due to the statistical sample of prospective voters the media telling who is ahead during elections. The trouble with this census taking of public opinion is that it sometimes discourage people from voting if they thinks that their favorite candidate is 30 percent ahead or 30 percent behind (Schneider, 1996). • 14. The Rights Of The Civil War The democracy we know today would not exist without an evolution of liberties and freedoms. The advancement of freedoms resulted from the changes in the British government. Moving from the Civil War to the Revolution, there are several forms of liberties presented. Before colonization, the first signs of freedom can be seen in the Magna Carta. The signed Magna Carta prevented the tyrannical monarch King John. W from abusing his powers (Synan). Feeling threatened by John s powers, Englishmen formed a regulation known as Habeas Corpus, which would protect themselves from unjust persecutions. Habeas Corpus allows the accused a right to a trial before prosecution. Englishmen were finally taking a stand for their freedom when they created this law. Habeas Corpus could be seen as the first sign of democracys formation (Synan). Still, Habeas Corpus constitutes a large part of today s democracy. Englishmen were finally beginning to understand government should have power limitations. As leaders turned over, King Charles began to rule over England. Both him and his wife Henrietta, a disciple of Christianity, caused great animosity toward the King (Stax 96). Not only was the man hated for his religious practices but, he also ruled with divine rights. Meaning, King Charles ruled through God s actions. In a society established on Protestantism, Englishmen felt Christians were untrustworthy beings (Synan). Discovering a sense liberty, but more so, a religious freedom, the ... Nature can do, visually, almost anything to mankind; however, man still tries their hardest to defy and go against nature. We often see queer people in relationships being asked who s the dominant one, the man in the relationship, the top, etc. These ideas come from a heteronormative society that puts harmful misogynistic norms even in relationships where women might not be present. Where does the overwhelming pressure for there to be a man or top in the relationship come from, and why are those two associated with each other? Since same sex relationships go against the norm in society, society still puts pressure on heternormative ideas to be present in them. If two men decide they want to be exclusively a bottom or top, dominant or submissive, in either their sexual relationship or in their general dynamic, that is their choice and right to do so. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes. The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . Motivation in an organization encourages employees to work efficiently and in the best interest of the company; as the manager of an organization one should start looking into why or how motivationis established. And the diastolic blood pressure is the lowest pressure, corresponding to when the ventricles are filled with blood during diastole. 4.For blood to flow, there must be a difference in pressure at both ends.
