Welcome to SMART Goals module. This
module will introduce you to SMART Goal
writing and why they are used. Upon
completion you should be able to do the
following:
1. Define S.M.A.R.T and the context surrounding
each element
2. Analyze goals and decipher if they are SMART
3. Create one smart goals for yourself to accomplish in the next quarter
2. Goals are:
1. A general statement about a desired outcome or achievement
2. Can be a powerful to motivate yourself when thinking of the ideal future
SMART Goals are:
1. A tool to exactly define what the goal looks like and how it is measured
2. Help align your goals with company goals and growth
4. A specific goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a nonspecific
goal
The goal should meet your needs and link to the bigger picture of
the companies goals and needs Ask questions like:
• What is involved?
• What do I want to do?
• Where will this take place?
• How does this relate to myself and the company?

5. SMART
Measurable
Include a number value in your goal (amount, time, size, length) to establish
criterial for measuring progress and attainment of goal. When you measure
your progress you are more likely to:
• Stay on track
• Put in more effort
• Reach your target dates
• Be proud of your accomplishments
Ask questions like:
• How Many?
• How Much?
• To what degree?
General Specific
I want to increase sales. I want to increase sales by 10%, from $50,000 to $55,000, using Salesforce Key tool.
6. SMART
Achievable
Investigate your goal to make sure it is actually attainable so you do not set
yourself up for failure.
Ask questions like:
• Do I have the resources to accomplish this?
• Are there clearly defined steps?
• Is this goal too lofty?
General Measurable
I want to increase sales. I want to increase sales by 10%*, from $50,000 to $55,000, using Salesforce Key tool.
*10% maybe a high percentage of increase, however given the Salesforce Key
tool and other available resources it is achievable.
7. SMART
Relevant
Making sure a goal is relevant makes the goal worthwhile as true results will be the
outcome.
Ask questions like:
• How will this affect me?
• What are the needs of this goal?
• Does this goal align with my personal objectives, and company goals?
General Measurable
I want to increase sales. I want to increase sales by 10%*, from $50,000 to $55,000, using Salesforce Key tool
in order to help reach the company’s quarterly goal of an overall sales increase of
10%, and increase my commission.
8. SMART
Time-Bound
Set a specific date, or increments of dates to make your goal effective and
efficient.
Keep in mind:
• A deadline too far in the future may lead to procrastination
• A quick deadline may be unrealistic
Ask questions like:
• How long will this take me?
• What is the end date?
General Measurable
I want to increase sales. I want to increase sales by 10%* in the next quarter, from $50,000 to $55,000, using
Salesforce Key tool in order to help reach the company’s quarterly goal of an overall
sales increase of 10%, and increase my commission.
