“Adjectives”
Adjectives are words that
describe or modify another
person or thing in the
sentence.
         The Articles
       a, an, and the
        are adjectives.
Use of adjectives
                               Adjectives

We use an adjective to            Ex : Can you see the young
describe the qualities of         woman at the end of the street?
people, things, places, etc.      He's a great singer.

We use an adjective (not an
adverb) after 'linking' verbs Ex : It looks scary.
such as be, become, feel,          It tastes delicious.
seem, smell, sound, look,          His ideas are interesting.
etc.
We can use an adjective to
                                  Ex : His answer made his boss
describe the object of a
                                  angry.
sentence.
Use of adjectives
        1. Opinion
               Example: an interesting book, a boring lecture
        2. Dimension
               Example: a big wolf
        3. Age
               Example: a new car, a modern building, an ancient
ruin
        4. Shape
               Example: a square box, an oval mask, a round ball
        5. Color
               Example: a red riding hood, a pink hat, a blue
book,
        6. Origin
                Example: some Italian shoes, a Canadian town,
        7. Material
                Example: a wooden box, a plastic toy
Use of adjectives

For example
I am the big bad wolf.

You have such big hands.

Little Red Riding Hood leapt out of bed.

Direction: One representative from each
 group read the sentence in teacher’s
 notebook. Then, act out. The members
 from each group have to guess what the
 picture is about and write the answer on
 the piece of paper.
Direction: Write the end of the story.
Imagine to what you want it to happen at
the end of the story. Present in front of
the class.
