Reflections of my life

1. They Say That I Am Retarded
They say that I am retarded. But I am happy, but
sometimes people makes me feel very sad.
Maybe because sometimes I am bad. But I don't mean to be.
I don't like it when they call me names, like, retard or
stupid. I know that my dad doesn't really mean it.
But sometimes I think that he is full of shit...sorry for
swearing...I'm retarded, ya know.
It's only my dad and I. I really miss my mom, she was my
best friend. But she's with God now. She tried to teach me
how to tie my shoes. But I couldn't learn, no matter how
hard I tried. But that's okay, I like Velcro. My mom never
called me stupid...maybe that's why she was my best friend.
By the way...my name is Dave. I am 16 years old!
Today I learned to write my name. My mom would be so
proud. I could just jump up and down and scream so loud,
just to see if my mom could hear and see me. I know she is
watching over me.
Yes,today I am so happy...it's a good day! I hope
tomorrow is the same, but if it's not, I know that I'm the
one to blame.
I know that my dad is so proud of me, but not when he
drinks that stuff out of the bottle. When he has the bottle
that's when he gets mad at me and calls me those names. It
hurts, but I still try and stay happy...I use to call him
pappy.
Sometimes I get really scared, but I feel safe when my
dad falls asleep...sometimes on the couch, and sometimes on
the floor. He sleeps with that bottle tightly in his hands.
My father might be retarded too, but I think it's just
that bottle making him that way.

2. But I love my dad, even though he beats me. Maybe I will
try that bottle some day.
But I am happy...but I wish that I could have something
to eat. Maybe I can sneak a little slice of meat. I hope I
don't get caught.
