Marungu Secondary School is located in a bushy rural area of Voi district, having good
connection to a nerby highway. The school has good internet connection. The school has
a good internet. From September 2015, occasional internet fall down will be addressed by
allowing the students to work from Sote ICT Hub in Voi town. Marungu School is curently the
best performing school within the Sote ICT project.

Mshindi KCB Bank is one of the oldest training firms at the project. It was established to
shadow real Kenyan Commercial Bank (KCB), supplementing their services with news ones
tailored to Marungu community’s needs. The students established partnership with the real
bank, which has organised several workshops and trainings at the school in Marungu. The
bank also provides the training firm with promotional materials. Besides focusing on offering
bank accounts and loans, the students decided to also put their knowledge in use and
designed simple financial literacy courses. They have trained their counterparts at 5 partner
school in Kenya, emphasising the importance of financial planning and saving. The students
understand their business field, and the structure of work within departments, but need to
improve their business plans, SWOT analysis and marketing.
