coal/oil/biofuels
The plan is to study and discuss the different strategies and techniques to
use in order to decrease environmental problems connected to energy
production using municipal waste/oil/coal/biofuels
• Find the general strategies to minimize the impact of an industry
• Have a discussion about the content in municipal waste/oil/coal
• Find/locate the different problem areas (emission location, where/why is
it formed?)
• Apply the knowledge from the lecture to this case

4. Coal plant
• Running conditions:
- Furnace: Pulverized coal burner
- Temperature: 1500 ºC
- Flue gas temp: 850 ºC
- Particle size: ∅ 0.1-2 µm
• Coal properties:
- Sulphur: 3-5%
- Mercury: 0.5 ppm
- Cadmium: 0.1 ppm

it formed?)

production of iron and steel.
