In order to gain a better understanding of how living in such a virtual environment (VE) would impact human beings, we conducted a self-experiment in which we exposed a single participant in an immersive VR setup for 24 hours (divided into repeated sessions of two hours VR exposure followed by ten minutes breaks), which is to our knowledge the longest documented use of an immersive VEs so far. In my presentation I will talk about what we learned from the experiment. I will give an outlook of what VR will become in the next 15 years and what it means to be be really virtual. Augmented World Expo (AWE) is back for its seventh year in our largest conference and expo featuring technologies giving us superpowers: augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and wearable tech. Join over 4,000 attendees from all over the world including a mix of CEOs, CTOs, designers, developers, creative agencies, futurists, analysts, investors, and top press in a fantastic opportunity to learn, inspire, partner, and experience first hand the most exciting industry of our times. I was a recently asked to give a talk about how animations are able to enhance the user experience. In return, I broke it down into four main talking points: Behavior, Visual Feedback, Transitions, and Affordance. Additionally, this presentation contains a few slides with what you can say are closed captions because I felt they were needed in order to help explain a few items.

UX is more than just the design of interfaces. It is a pursuit in designing technology that is contextually relevant for the people whom it is being designed for. It incorporates all aspects of a persons experience with something. This presentation introduces this concept of designing beyond interfaces.

With the advent of voice-activated products and platforms, more news companies are dipping their toes in voice and conversational bots. For designers, this raises the question—how do you approach design when it’s invisible? In her session, senior product designer Sanette Tanaka will go over how her team at Vox Media designed an Amazon Echo bot, never having worked with voice interfaces prior. She will walk you through the steps she followed to adapt her design process for voice, while also sharing best practices in voice design.

Leandro will speak about how an Italian company is working to reduce this distance, by creating emotional virtual agents to move bytes toward atoms on one side, while moving atoms toward bytes, Second Life's human users, on the other. - Some years ago, Paul Dourish introduced the concept of embodiment, which describes the distance between bytes and atoms. The terms UI and UX (design) are very often and used as a single term by many people or designers. The first thing we need to know straight is that UI and UX are not the same. Design is a rather broad and huge term. When someone says “I’m a designer,” it is not that clear what they actually do. There are a number of different responsibilities term designer. There are many aspects of design now a days.

Animation can explain behaviours better than thousand of words that’s why interaction designer should learn from motion designer. Technological advances have allowed, in the last few years, a big step forward in the dynamic behaviors and interactions patterns that we used to do with software in the past. Motion is one of the key element of this change but how can we imagine & sketch the way something feels & reacts? Starting from the basic of motion design, we’ll discover a set of “standard” motion patterns and how we can sketch & use them in a design project to increase affordance, to simplify complex interactions and to give a new dynamic brand identity to our products. In this presentation, we will look into the fundamental driving forces behind a zoo of wrappers. Moreover, we are going to put together a wrapper ourselves so you can make an educated decision if you need one.

In the thrilling conclusion to 2023, ransomware groups had a banner year, really outdoing themselves in the "make everyone's life miserable" department. LockBit 3.0 took gold in the hacking olympics, followed by the plucky upstarts Clop and ALPHV/BlackCat. Apparently, 48% of organizations were feeling left out and decided to get in on the cyber attack action. Business services won the "most likely to get digitally mugged" award, with education and retail nipping at their heels. Hackers expanded their repertoire beyond boring old encryption to the much more exciting world of extortion. The US, UK and Canada took top honors in the "countries most likely to pay up" category. Bitcoins were the currency of choice for discerning hackers, because who doesn't love untraceable money?

Future Of User Interfaces
1.
2.
The origin of
modern user interface
3.
Then the switches
shrunk...
4.
And the user
interface to the user interface(Switches) changed
5.
6.
Then we abstracted
a little more
7.
8.
9.
We abstract even
without knowing we do... Pixels Polygons Textures Maps ?
10.
We went from
11.
To
12.
So we abstracted
parts of reality into the user interface?
13.
Hmm... Thats a
good pointer to the future So whats left?
14.
3d displays and
gestures
15.
Integrated displays –
Reality distortion goggles?
16.
Voice? Voice?
17.
Thought based actions
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/academic/fp223-lee.pdf
18.
Neural Impulse Actuator
19.
So how does
this affect us? Specialized interfaces always filter down to mass market devices How can we make our next device/ website/ applications suitable for these interfaces? Being the first would mean a huge quantum leap.
20.
Thanks
